Chapter Twenty-Two:

Looking for The Blue Streak

"Where is he?"

In Tranquil Green Valley Zone, over half a mile from Furtree Village, a female chipmunk stood upon the hill overlooking the countryside, holding a handheld device in her hand as she surveyed the terrain with clear blue eyes and her technological ally beeped while it scanned the environment.

This was Princess Sally Acorn, daughter to King Acorn, and she was from another world. But she wasn't alone.

"Zut alors..." Antoine "Depardieu" D'Coolette said as he walked towards the humanoid chipmunk clad in the blue top and black shorts, "I've searched ze trees and zere is no sign."

"Hedgehogs don't hide in trees, 'Twan."

A tall walrus with a yellow hat approached Sally and Antoine with a humanoid female rabbit wearing a leotard with cybernetic legs and a cybernetic arm. The Freedom Fighters surveyed the valley, keeping an eye out for the first sign of who they were looking for. This was not the first place they'd searched, the group had visited the village a short time ago.

And before that, they'd visited Green Hill Zone, not long after arriving in this world. Everywhere they looked, they came up empty-handed, but they followed the trail even as it seemed that their search was leading nowhere.

"Did you find anything?" Sally asked Bunnie and Rotor.

"Nothing in the caves up in the mountain." Rotor replied.

"Ah've hollered from the peaks, Sally girl." Bunnie quipped, "But he ain't runnin' our way, the only thing ah found were Flicky birds and they went flyin' when ah came near their nest, didn't mean to disrupt 'em or anythin'."

"We can't stop." Sally stepped forward, staring out at the horizon, "We've been trying to find Sonic since we got here. Not just our Sonic, but this world's Sonic. And whatever challenge that they're both facing, they can't face it alone. They need us, Sonic needs us, people are counting on us no matter what world we're on."

"Now, now, Sally." Bunnie told the princess, "We'll find li'l boy blue and a way back home."

"Princess Sally..." Antoine raised a hand, "May I interest you in zis yellow flower that I found while I was wandering ze grass?"

He held out a flower and the others yelped when they saw a bumblebee sitting on it. Antoine took notice and he yelped. He threw the flower as far as he could, even as the bee hovered off of it. The bee flew around Antoine's head and the coyote shrieked before he took off running. Sally rolled her eyes with slight annoyance.

"Perhaps we can visit the location known as Tails' workshop." Sally heard her handheld Nicole suggest.

The princess took in her ally's suggestion, then she looked to the others and they set off across the countryside. Antoine soon ran back to join them, the bee had left him alone, even as the coyote trembled and whimpered somewhat nervously. The search continued...
