Sasuke looked at them both with a bit of a glare and he began to think about everything he came to understand, the reason why they want him and Naruto to go to a place where their supposed parents are, that his mother and the mother of Naruto are in deep depression, and the only reason they want them to go is to prevent more harm to be caused to either of their mothers, he never believed for an instant that they had done any of it for their benefit or that they thought of what was the best interest of either himself or Naruto.
To think Kakashi of all people was the one that needed to deal with this situation before it becomes even worse than it already is, and could even become a threat to the entire village or the world. "So you want us to go to that place and to speak with these two people who you say are our mothers, to make them realize there is nothing to be depressed about, is that it? We can leave and never return after that, can we?"
Artemis couldn't help but voice her disapproval of what Sasuke said it apparently made her for some reason very angry. "How can you say that, to give hope to them that the child they think is lost is well and alive, only to deny them the joy of being able to be with you, how utterly heartless can you be to deny your mother the chance for her to share her love and joy with you and you do the same."
Sasuke looked at her and he simply began to shake his head, "I don't think you understand, both Naruto and I grew up by ourselves in a village that didn't trust either of us, sure they pretended to praise me to keep the last of my clan in the village, but deep down my clan was also blamed for the Nine tails attack, only not as badly as Naruto was. I did however have a few years of living with my father and mother, unlike Naruto."
He couldn't help but laugh at the very idea that his father wanted him to return to where he is, and for his family to be happy, the very idea of it was laughable at best, tragic at worst. He was quite blunt when he decided to tell Athena and Artemis that knowing how his father was, he would never expect him to be extremely happy or warm at their reunion, "He treated us no better than tools, he cared nothing for our happiness of wellbeing, only how useful we were to him, and his last decision made orphans out of me and my brother Itachi, when I go, know that I am not going thinking this will be a warm and tender moment, but if Naruto chooses to do this folly then I shall go with him if only to protect my friend."
Athena asked Sasuke about who would he protect his cousin from? He simply looked at her and told her that yes Zeus may have many children, but not all of them are going to be as happy to see Naruto return since he essentially could be called the prince of Olympus, many of these siblings will be angry about his return and some might even want to eliminate him as a possible contender to inherit his father's throne. That is who he would protect him from.
"You might not admit it, but you still follow that old lesson don't you teme, those who abandon friends are worse than scum, you took that lesson to heart. Kakashi should feel proud." Sasuke glared at Naruto and told him to stop mocking him, he abandoned his so-called friends several times in his life, he could indeed send him by himself and simply accept that, but he was not going to do something that he would once again regret. "Honestly Dobe, do you think I am going to leave you to your luck, and then have something horrible happen, and then have to face a very pissed-off Sakura, no thank you, I am not suicidal."
Artemis had to ask Sasuke what was so terrifying about this woman named Sakura, he was quick to make it quite clear, "It is not just her if her sister Blossom is anything like Sakura they both are terrors. They both have perfect chakra control and mastered something called the power of a hundred, just to put it into perspective, Tsunade, the person who taught this technique to them, could knock both me and Naruto out with a finger flick to the forehead, Sakura I know is capable of destroying mountains doing the same thing, and that was when she wasn't even angry. Can you imagine the level of destruction she could cause if she was really pissed? Face her or Face the Nemean Lion, I know that my choice is easy, all I would ask is where the hell is the Lion, cause the Lion would be more merciful than Sakura would ever be."
As he looked at her Artemis she could tell that he was not kidding, had this girl been an orphan she would definitely want her to join her huntresses. "Look we are not going to hurt you, we have no intentions of harming either of you, you have nothing to worry about. We honestly just want you to come and see your mothers so that they can overcome their emotional turmoil and recover from their deep depression, even if I can tell you both have plenty of reasons to be bitter, but trust me your parents have no ill intentions towards either of you."
Naruto looked at her and told her that Sasuke might not seem like it, but thanks to how he lived his life and how people have tried to use him for their benefit, this made Sasuke a little not so eager to trust people, but once they prove they are honest, he can be quite kind and caring when he really tries.
"So says the Honorable Son of the Fourth Hokage, honestly had the people of the village known this fact, you would have been treated with even more praise than I ever did, make my life a lot calmer truth be told, and I wouldn't have to deal with so many gold diggers. You simply don't know how awful it is to find out someone says they love you, but what they love is the prospect of how much benefit they can get from being with you and only that. Civilians and Merchant Families that wish to use a potential marriage, even an engagement to rise in social status. Not my idea of romantic."
Thinking about it he said that probably the first person who actually loved him was no surprise to hear but was his mother, and years later he came to find out the brother whom he tried to avenge his clan also loved him quite a bit, but the first lady that loved him was in fact the daughter of the Snake Class Leader, not what you expect from a snake that is the size of a small house, but she was rather shy and sweet. She became his personal summons.
"We both lived long enough to see most people we consider precious friends and family die of old age or disease, and you know what happened when we came to land on this world. We have tried to help the people of this world as best we can, and the only way we could help is to fuse ourselves with two younger versions of ourselves, we might look young, but we got the experience of thousands of years. We aren't the sons of the sage of six paths for nothing after all."
Sasuke placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder for emotional support and told him to look at this differently, the is a very low possibility that these two would accept anything other than what they wanted, they could even cause a fight that could end up hurting many people in the village if push comes to shove. They will have to go with them if only to keep the innocent civilians away from getting harmed, Athena was indignant as she heard this and told him that she would never harm any innocent people without cause.
Sasuke glared at her, "Lady, your followers may believe that shit, but I ain't one of them, so you can't pull the wool over my eyes, you don't hurt innocent people, do I need to mention what you did to that poor shrine maiden who was raped in your temple? You turned her into a monster that could never look at anyone without that person turning to stone, and she was just a victim. Do I need to mention what you did when someone said they were better at weaving than you are? And she was, she beat you fair and square, and what did you do? Turned her into a spider. Are these two not innocent people? Cause you harmed both of them."
Athena wanted to desperately justify her actions, but deep down she knew what Sasuke said was true, she did that when she let her rage and ego get out of control. "If you take me and Naruto back to Olympus, this is but a taste of what will happen to the people that live there, you expect a warm and tender reunion, only in your daydreaming fantasies, this reunion will be colder than the bottom floor of Hell, and neither of us is going to be happy that we got dragged there by either of you just so you know."
Sasuke flat-out asked Artemis if she couldn't simply return back where they came from and tell them they were told they died in the middle of a battle so horrible that there were no remains to bury, she glared at him and told Sasuke that wouldn't work for several reasons, Hades knows when anyone dies, and since he was not informed of it, they must be alive, and secondly, his mothers would be able to tell if she was lying with just a glance and she is not going to be that malicious to them when they are already suffering as much as they are.
"Why can't you understand? We are quite literally a mess, I am the son of Zeus and his wife in one dimension, and in this one, I am the son of Poseidon and his wife, the exact same thing with Naruto, we have the bloodline of four domains, and you of all people know how paranoid Zeus is, he will say something absolutely crazy, like his brother Poseidon, did this, to steal his divine throne, he did that to Hades I don't know how many times. We don't want to cause war when we can just as easily avoid it."
Sasuke told her that he has seen enough families get destroyed over a petty dispute and so many times he could live an eternity without seeing that again, "This is coming from a person who was so consumed with the desire for revenge that he wanted to kill the very big brother who loved me enough to ruin his own future for my sake, so blind with rage that I made horrible mistakes, a terrible deal, and hurt so many people that I will never be able to forgive myself for, I know that my anger against father is not something that I will be able to contain, I am a snake sage. I know Medusa and her sisters quite well and know what happened to them, this alone would make me as angry with him as I once was with Itachi, and the last thing I want is to cause my mother to suffer even more than before I returned and was thought as missing."
Athena asked if Naruto would also be angry with the king of the gods? He didn't answer but the sound that came from his closed mouth told Sasuke that was obvious. He was grinding his teeth together to prevent himself from screaming something at her. "Alright Dobe, chances are we will not be able to convince them to forget about this, so tell me did you already set up your Hirashin seal on the training ground? You will need it for us to be able for us to get back here, you know damn well I can't use that technique, so I will depend on you to do that."
Naruto told Sasuke that was technically not true, he only needed four years to learn to be able to do that, first, he needed to develop his own seal to match his chakra array and signature and then he needed to learn to use the seals and technique to travel, that would take anyone without his capacity to make as many shadow clones as he could at least four years.
Hearing all of the explosions happen in the old training ground number seven made quite a few people worry, and some feel like something extremely bad was going to happen, that place may be used for training but it also holds the memorial stone monument, so in truth, it is a very important place for every ninja of the village. They all rushed to see what the hell is going on to cause all that.
Hinata and her sister were practically trying to get there as fast as possible, and Sakura and her sister were both ready for something that could be called a medical emergency, they knew that Sasuke and Naruto often train there, so the others went to help their friends with whatever caused all those massive explosions and to try to stop what some of the new academy graduates feared yet another invasion of the village.
The only two people that were not worried were Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and their siblings, they knew exactly what was going on thanks to being informed by their summons, the toads and snakes knew exactly what was going on, and once they heard they knew they had nothing to worry about.
Orochimaru once considered Sasuke to be his next vessel, but after achieving his dream, he realized that he didn't have to do that, and then considered him much the same way Jiraiya considers Naruto, their precious student. People may doubt the intentions of Naruto and Sasuke deep down, and do their best to keep those ideas hidden, but their masters knew them far too well, Naruto was a long time ago brash, and reckless, Sasuke was cold and emotionally distant, one wanted recognition for years of being ignored if not outright hated, and the other was drowning in pain that no medicine could help with, obsessed with obtaining revenge on the person whom he thought caused that pain.
They both saw them grow and overcome so many things, and even overcame what many would consider to be personal flaws, this is why these two men who can barely stand each other, understood them better than anyone. Gamakichi became Naruto's personal summon, a toad as reckless and hungry for recognition as he was, and Nagini the daughter of Manda became the personal summon of Sasuke, for she too knew the same pain and wanted to help him if only a little bit.
When Gamakichi is summoned he is ready for a fight and stands right next to Naruto, ready to face any challenge, when Nagini was summoned however for some strange reason the very first thing she did was wrap herself around Sasuke in an almost tight hug. Her father often teased her that she did that because she had a crush on the young summoner, which she denied all the while proving that snakes may be cold-blooded, but they can still blush.
As the friends rushed to the aid of Naruto and Sasuke, both Athena and Artemis couldn't believe what they were seeing, as they saw on each of the friends something they had seen on every person within Camp Halfblood, all of these people were demigods, but they didn't come from being the children of their Pantheon, they saw children of Roman deities, and many other pantheons were present, it seems their pantheon was not the only one that came to live among the people of this realm.
Warriors, sages, healers, and strategists, were amazed to see people as children from other Pantheons be as amazing and strong as they were. Athena through her vision could almost see Shinto, Hindu, Egyptian, and so many other pantheons present as the children of these deities were and felt like the friends of the two people they had come to find and take back to their mothers. Several of them even walked over to each of them, some to Sasuke and some to Naruto worried sick about them, fearing for their safety, and asking them if they needed any help, offering unconditional support.
A blue-haired young woman who was holding Naruto smiles at him, almost glad to see her worst fears are not real, "Naruto, who are these women, why did you set up all those massive explosive tags? I am quite confused here, and I need an explanation of what is going on here, dear husband."
Naruto simply enjoyed the hug for as long as he could before kissing Hinata to help her calm down, he told her there was no reason why to worry, the tags and traps were done to make these two understand that neither he nor Sasuke was people they should underestimate or take too lightly, a simply show of strength and skill, nothing more than that. As to who they are, apparently, they are people that their mothers sent to find him and Sasuke.
"Apparently both of our mothers believed that thanks to some idiotic prediction of our future, we might end up killing each other, it's ridiculous, you know how much we care about each other, we are family for crying out loud, why would two cousins who get along as well as we do, ever consider killing each other? But they believed in those prophecies without question so they expected us to be dead, and then tried to call us to the realm they live in to bring us back to life, into divinity, but they couldn't because obviously we are alive. So they sent these two to find us, Athena, one of the wisest of their pantheon and their most skilled tracker Artemis."
Hinata being an extremely well-educated young woman of course knew of the Greek Pantheon, so she understood what Naruto told her, her education and studies were all done to prepare her to eventually be the leader of the clan, not an easy or enjoyable duty but vital for the survival of the clan. As she heard her husband there was a sense of unease, something she felt behind his words, something that remained unspoken and was quite unpleasant, if she was willing to say this, it was probably something she hated.
Sakura was also holding Naruto but it looked more like she wanted to keep these strangers as far away from Naruto as possible, while Hinata was offering comfort and support, Sakura was acting like she was guarding Naruto against potential harm, she glared at Artemis in particular since she could see the daggers, the bow, and quiver of arrows that she had, the very idea that an outsider dared to enter the village while armed, violated laws of the village would make any ninja within feel hostile, there was something about this woman that made her have a feeling of absolute rage when looking at her, like she wanted to beat her skull in for some reason, even though this was the first time they ever met.
Naruto simply seeing how they were acting and reacting to each other decided to simply end the tension and looked at Sakura with a warm smile to calm down her anger, she was taken by surprise seeing this, "You have nothing to worry about, these two mean us no harm, they came to do to help our mothers recover from a devastating depression, as if they had lost the will to live. The fact is that if they die it would cause much harm as their domains will be affected, and both are essential for life in that world, so in reality we don't have much of a choice here."
She didn't like the sound of it, but she tried to calm down as Naruto clearly had more to say about this, "As such we will go to visit their divine realm so that Sasuke's mother and my mother see that we are alive and well, thus realize there is no reason for their depression, even if they wanted to keep up there, my flight of the thunder god technique makes it impossible for them to keep me in their divine realm, I can return whenever I want, and Sasuke can simply travel by holding unto my shoulder, so you see, none of you have anything to fear. We will return home, but we must help alleviate our mother's suffering."
Sakura however was quick to mention that if they can come to their world so easily and these two know where they are, why couldn't their mothers do the same, simply asked these two where their sons are and come and see their sons on their own. Artemis knew what Sakura said is irrefutable, and if they could do that, normally that wouldn't be such a major issue, but the situation was less than ideal, but she didn't know how to explain it."
Athena seeing that Artemis was having problems wording this in a way that would explain without causing a major misunderstanding was clear. Artemis was one hell of a hunter, archer, warrior, and surrogate mother to those that join and become one of her huntresses, but she was not someone that could be called either delicate or diplomatic. When Artemis tried in the past to explain something it often ended up causing a fight, it was simply unavoidable, as she was not exactly as sociable as the other goddesses in their pantheon.
Athena decided to explain it as simply and clearly as she could, "Had Hera and Amphitrite been in good health, this would not be an issue, but the fact that they have suffered a devasting depression for what seem to be months if not longer, has caused them both to severely weaken to the point that they are barely hanging on to life by a thread. We are not simply dealing with something as a person feeling sad about something, they are losing the very will to live, as such they have not eaten or slept in months, that alone caused them to suffer immensely and weaken to the point they are right now, they can't even move out of their beds, so traveling from Mt. Olympus to appear here is an impossible task for them. So if they are to survive their sons must go to Mt. Olympus so that they can see they have no reason to feel as they do, and furthermore regain the will to live, so the choices are quite simple, they go and they save the lives of the two that gave them life, or they remain and simply condemn their mothers to a painful and horrible death, and since this was not a natural death, but suicide their souls shall be tormented in the dark halls of the underworld for all eternity. As all those that commit suicide as doomed to suffer as their punishment."
Sakura told Athena that was a very noble goal, but there was no guarantee that anything she said is true, this entire thing to get both her husband and Sasuke to go with them could be an elaborate trap, a deceptive tactic to weaken their village, an evil scheme pretending to be an honorable deed. Athena hearing this simply put her hand in her pocket and brought out of it a bottle of a rather strange-looking water, it felt unnatural for some reason even though the water was inside a closed bottle, something about this water made her nervous and fearful down to to the very depths of her soul.
"You have no reason to feel ashamed for feeling fear when you saw this bottle, this bottle contains water from the underworld, from one of the three rivers that flow through it, this just happens to be water from the river Styx. The reason for your feeling fear is something that is within all life, instinctively you know not to mess with this water, if anyone makes an oath or says something on this water, and that is a lie, the price they will pay is something so severe that death would be a mercy."
Athena opened the bottle and held her hand over the open bottle, "I, Athena, Goddess of Olympus, do here swear on the River Styx, that my mission to this realm is indeed noble and altruistic, my only goal is to save the lives of two mothers who suffer by bringing them back their son, if what I have spoken is a lie, may the Styx claim my soul."
