Haylan was mopey.
He was 17 years old now and his coronation was tomorrow. He received lots of wonderful and thoughtful gifts from his friends and family and overall had a great day.
So he should be happy.
But Blaise still hadn't initiated a proper courting between the two of them.
No courting present.
No flowers.
No contract.
Nothing.
Something inside of Haylan didn't want to be the one to initiate the courting. He knew this made him the more submissive of the relationship, but he was responsible for the rest of his empire. He just wanted to be taken care of.
What if Blaise didn't want to court him?
What if Blaise was waiting on Haylan to court him instead?
What if he was getting tired of Haylan and his drama? They hadn't spent much time together in the last week due to how busy Haylan had been taking care of problems with the Spanish Monarchy, the ICW, and the plans for his coronation. It hadn't left him much time to just be with Blaise.
Even today, his birthday, he only got to see Blaise for a couple of hours when everyone else visited. Then he was back to the plans for the coronation. Final fittings for his clothes and his crown, meetings with his finalized security team, adding more power to the ward stone just in case, and even double-checking the house elves' menu for the night. It was very busy but Haylan missed Blaise.
"Haylan pay attention, you need to read this contract with the Romanian government over. Make sure it is everything we talked about and then sign it so we can get the security teams we need for tomorrow." Narcissa said demanding Haylan's attention.
"Yes 'Cissa I know. Why is Romania agreeing to hand over its government to us again? I know we had control in the past but they have been without oversight for over forty years now." Haylan had to ask, it was a weird request he hadn't expected from Romania.
"They didn't have time to set up a stable government when the Caliban line was supposedly wiped out. They have been doing patchwork government for the last forty years. It is not stable and the economy is very close to crashing. If you take over again then you can prevent an all-out economical collapse as well as provide them with much-needed stability and security." Narcissa dutifully informed Haylan.
"I do not have an heir to run their government full time though. I doubt I will have the time to handle their day-to-day politics on top of running the Empire." Haylan protested.
"You will have to find someone within the family you trust to set up as your pseudo-heir to take over the Romanian government. You should do this anyway because what happens if something bad happens to you Haylan, even temporarily? You have nothing set up so the Empire you are so carefully building up will not immediately collapse with your absence." Narcissa advised making Haylan groan.
"Well if for any reason anything happens to me you and Andromeda are in charge of the Empire. The both of you taught me and you are of the Black and Caliban line, you will be able to hold down the fort if I am indisposed. Sirius isn't healed enough or mature enough to take on the mantle of ruling the Romanian government. I don't trust Lucius as far as I could throw him, sorry Cissa. Draco is too young and immature to handle a position such as that but he could perhaps assist whoever is put in place so he could learn if he was interested. Ted and Nymphadora have their own jobs that I doubt they would leave, nor do they have the necessary political background. I don't know Cissa, I will have to hold off on making that decision. I do not want to set Romania up for failure just due to nepotism."
"I believe that is very well reasoned. We will help you balance the many duties you are taking on until the time you can make a decision of course." Narcissa promised, reassuring Haylan. "I will leave you to your paperwork and brooding, please take care of yourself Haylan. Tomorrow is going to be hard on everyone."
"Cissa before you go, could I ask you a question about Blaise?" Haylan asked nervously, biting his lip.
"Only if you stop mutilating your lip. But yes you may ask." Narcissa sat back in her chair, watching Haylan with curious eyes as he mulled over how to ask her.
"I am asking you this question not as my adviser or as my pseudo-aunt as you have become to me. I am asking this as godmother to Blaise. Do you think he is serious about our relationship? Is he still interested?" Haylan's voice was nervous and more insecure than she had heard from him in years.
"As Blaise's godmother and as your advisor and family I believe my answer to be the same across the board. I have never seen Blaise more invested in a relationship than he has been with you. You know he was a playboy before. He is very serious about your relationship. Is this because you haven't received a courtship gift yet?"
"I thought he might be waiting for me to turn 17 as well but I still haven't received anything from him. I just want to know where we stand at this point."
"I think you and Blaise will have to sit down and have a blunt conversation once your coronation has passed. Do not be silent about your worries, it isn't healthy in the long run. In the meantime, you need to finish your paperwork and then go to bed. You need to get up early and be ready for a very busy day tomorrow." Narcissa got up, and gave Haylan a pat on his shoulder before heading to the floo.
He knew she was right. He needed to focus on the coronation and then afterward he could sit down with Blaise and discuss just where their relationship is going.
Coronation day couldn't be over fast enough.
Everyone in the wixen world across the entire globe received an invitation to Emperor-to-be Haylan Caliban's coronation day.
Everyone from royalty to the peasants, from Dumbledore to Voldemort, from wixen to creatures.
Coronation day would also go down in wixen history as the day the economy paused for one day so everyone could attend the crowning of a new Emperor.
No one wanted to miss this historical event, for several different reasons.
Some just wanted to see history in the making, wanted to see who claimed to be the surviving Heir of Caliban.
The Spanish Monarchy wanted to see if they could make allies among those who didn't want to be under Caliban's rule again. Spread discontent among the attendees.
Voldemort and his people wanted to see if Heir Caliban's power was real. If the rumor about him following the old ways were true. Voldemort was still quite angry about having his wand snapped, but maybe instead of trying to fight the House of Caliban, they could be allies against those trying to be rid of the old ways.
Dumbledore and the Order attended to try to put a stop to Heir Caliban's rising tyranny and prevent the rising of a new dark lord.
Blaise was attending because he knew seeing his boyfriend in such a powerful setting was going to be hot as fuck. This would be wank material for him for months to come.
Haylan was attending because it was too late to back out now, but he was feeling rather nauseous as Narcissa went over the last-minute details with the Romanian Aurors that were going to be his security for the day.
Everyone was starting to arrive at the castle. Hundreds of thousands of wizards, witches, goblins, veela, vampires, werewolves, and more. The entirety of the world who held magic would be here, watching him, judging him, waiting to see if he would fail or live up to the Caliban name and power.
Haylan was definitely feeling very nauseous.
"Hey kiddo, eat some toast and breathe. You got this. You are already the Emperor remember? This is just a fancy show for the peons remember? You are Emperor Caliban, you are the voice of Lady Magic and the hands of Lord Death. You are a Lord three or four times over. There is not a thing any of them can do or say that will change any of these facts." Sirius stood in front of Haylan calming him down and keeping him from throwing up. These were the moments he was grateful to have Sirius around.
"Sirius help get him dressed and ready, we go out to face the world in an hour. I don't care if you need to use muggle makeup, make him look less green." Narcissa ordered.
"Aye Captain Cissa! Come along kiddo, let's get you presentable to see the world and give your boyfriend some eye candy to check out."
The hall they had gathered in last time for the beautillion ball had been expanded several times over and it was still packed with more people standing outside. The noise level was astonishing but even more surprising was the sudden deafening silence when the lighting in the hall changed, focusing on the front of the room where quite an impressive stone throne sat.
Out stepped Sirius Black, looking healthy, well-polished, and more official than he probably ever had in his life.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Wixen and Beings alike. On behalf of the House of Caliban, I would like to thank you for joining us for the official coronation of Heir Haylan Iacob Dacian Caliban." Sirius smiled proudly here before continuing. "As many of you are no doubt aware. I am Sirius Orion Black of the House of Black in Britain, the disinherited line from the House of Caliban. I am honored to say that Heir Caliban has accepted the Black line back into the Caliban line and will be serving the Caliban line from here on."
There were several murmurs at that but Sirius moved on before they could get any louder.
"Now without further ado, please welcome Heir Haylan Iacob Dacian Caliban." Before Sirius could finish speaking the thunderous clapping began and continued as Haylan stepped out into the hall to make his way to stand in front of the throne.
Haylan was dressed in clothes so expensive Haylan feared asking Narcissa what they were made out of.
His formal boots he knew were Hebridean Black dragon leather, they clung tightly to his leg where they ended mid-calf. His surprisingly soft black pants were tucked into his boots and silver chains carved with runes wrapped around his waist. He wore a simple black formal shirt under his robes, making him look like he had taken a note out of Snape's closet for color until he put on his dress robes. His dress robes were a deep emerald green that glittered with magic as the light hit the fabric. His long red hair was pulled back in intricate braids, gems and runes braided into his hair as well.
Haylan knew he looked good. He knew he looked powerful.
He let his power rise and swell before releasing it to wash over the room drawing gasps from everyone.
"Welcome everyone to my coronation. I am so happy to have you all here on such an important day. I shan't make you wait any longer for the main festivities, shall we begin?"
