Tossing several more pieces of wood into the flames, Dee huddled by the fire, holding his hands out to the warmth. The temperature during the night had plummeted, and his breath steamed on the crisp mountain air. At times like this he honestly wondered if Ryo was all there mentally. Coming to the mountains to camp at this time of year was beyond crazy. It was a miracle they didn't both have frostbite.

Okay, so it had been cosy enough snuggled together in their sleeping bag, but getting up this morning and putting his clothes on had been torture. Everything had felt cold as ice, leeching all the heat from his body in an instant.

"Isn't it a beautiful morning?" Ryo said, coming back from the spring and setting a pot of water over the fire to boil for their morning coffee.

"Beautiful? It's freezin'!" Dee rubbed his hands together and shivered. "We should'a booked into a guesthouse; we could catch our death out here."

"Don't exaggerate, Dee, it's not that cold, probably a little below fifty." Ryo took a deep breath of the clean mountain air. "It's refreshing." He smiled at his lover. "No wonder you're cold just sitting there. You'll soon warm up once you get moving. Why don't you find some more firewood while I get breakfast started?"

"You want me to leave the only source of heat to go lookin' for firewood?" Dee could scarcely believe his ears.

"Someone needs to. I'd do it myself, but then breakfast would have to wait, unless you want to take over the cooking.

Dee sighed; he couldn't win. "Fine, I'll go, but if I get hypothermia, I'm blamin' you."

By the time Dee arrived back at camp with firewood, he was sweating.

Ryo grinned up at him. "Warmer now?"
