They returned to the Owl House and Luz put the mushrooms on the table.
"3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 mushrooms." Luz said to everyone as they all took off their winter clothes.
"I'd say that was a good trip." Eda said.
"Aside from whoever was following us but I'm glad they didn't follow us back." Willow said.
"Yeah, but I'm not gonna think about why they followed us in the first place." Skara said.
"Best not to think about it." Eda said.
As they followed Eda's advice, they looked around to wonder where Camila was.
"Where's mom?" Luz asked, standing up.
They heard talking from upstairs.
"She's upstairs." Willow said as Luz and Eda head upstairs.
"Should we follow them?" Skara asked.
"I mean…..it's not our business but I am curious." Willow said.
The two of them went upstairs as well. Inside of Luz's closet, Camila was getting a demon lesson by King and Hooty.
"Incredible." Camila said, taking notes.
"If you think that's incredible, just wait until I tell you about how bug demons communicate." Hooty said with a smile.
"Uh, mom?" Luz asked.
"Oh, Luz! You're back! You'll never guess what I've learned, Hooty is a very wonderful teacher." Camila said with a smile.
"Hooty? A teacher?!" Eda said in shock.
"Really!?" Luz asked, sitting next to Camila, "I want to know what you're talking about!"
"Are you sure she's not your biological daughter?" Eda asked, staring at the two.
"A new student? Great!" King said with a smile.
"Are you just going to ignore me?" Eda asked as she put her hand on her hips.
"I want to learn, Eda." Luz said.
"And who better to learn from than a bug demon, one of the three demon types such as myself?" Hooty asked, referring to his worm like body.
"Demon type?" Luz asked.
"He means bug, biped, beast demon types, Luz. The three main types of demons in this world." Camila said, "It's fascinating."
"Cool!" Luz said with a smile.
'I didn't even know that.' Skara thought as she and Willow looked impressed by Hooty's demon knowledge.
"Well, whenever you're done with Hooty's and King's weird lesson, meet me in the den to get the other ingredients." Eda said to them.
"Okay, Eda!"
Eda left with Skara and Willow following behind.
"Well at least I still have you two to help with the ingredients." Eda said to them.
"So what's the next one?" Willow asked.
"It's an easy one, no chance of monsters with this one." Eda said to them, reaching into her hair and pulling out a list, "The only problem is that it's inside of the nostrils."
"You mean the ones that are only reachable if you climb a set of steep cliffs that is inaccessible by staff?" Skara asked.
"Yep, those are the ones. It's pretty easy if you have the right gear or use levitation magic to keep you stable." Eda said.
"You have the right gear, right? Because neither of us knows levitation magic." Willow said as Skara looked at the list.
"Yeah... you know... probably." Eda said.
'Oh no.' Willow and Skara thought in worry.
They repeated the mantra "Do it for Boscha" in their heads.
"Alright kiddies, let's take a small break then head off to the nostrils. A quick snack would be good too since it's quite a climb." Eda said as she walked into her kitchen.
"Do you have any Titan Spice chips?" Willow asked.
"And non-alcoholic apple blood?" Skara added.
"Ugh, that non-alcoholic shit?" Eda asked.
"Yes, we are just teenagers after all." Willow said to her.
"We don't want to get a hangover." Skara added.
'Not unlike Boscha since she seems to have a high tolerance apparently.' They both thought.
"Ugh, fine. I don't have the non-alcoholic stuff but I do have some sodas." Eda said to them, "I'll go get them, and maybe Luz will eventually come downstairs. You hear that Three Eyes, we're kind of trying to do something that could also help you find your family!"
"Okay!" Luz shouted from upstairs.
'Again with that nickname, Luz only has two eyes. Why call her that?' Skara thought, looking at Eda in confusion.
Luz came down the stairs.
"Alright, I'm finished learning from Hooty and King. We can get the last two ingredients." Luz said, walking into the den.
Siting on the couch, Eda was enjoying a drink as Willow and Skara were watching a crystal ball as they ate some chips.
"So, what is this ingredient?" Luz asked.
"It's a special stone mucus from the nostrils of the Titan." Eda said, sipping her apple blood.
"Really? We're getting fossilized snot?" Luz asked, "... I love this world!"
Willow and Skara fumbled from this as Eda chuckled at Luz's excitement.
'This kid is something else. I have to bring her along for Trash Slug scrounging later.' Eda thought.
"Now, there's a good chance you may die, but that's a risk I'm willing to take." Eda said, getting the things they need to get to the nose.
"Isn't that everyday here?" Luz asked, still somehow positive.
"Yeah but some things are more deadly than others. Don't think about it too much." Eda said to Luz.
"I kind of think we should!" Skara said as Willow nodded. "We all have things and people to live for!"
"Yeah, if we die, Boscha will kill us." Willow said.
"Technically-"
"She'll bring us back from the dead then kill!" Willow and Skara shouted at Eda.
"…..Okay. But don't worry, you'll make it back alive so long as you follow me." Eda said, finishing her apple blood, "Now, who's ready to go do something dangerous and possibly illegal?"
"I am!" Luz shouted, holding her hand up.
"Wait, this is illegal?" Skara asked.
Eda just shrugged.
"Nearly everything is illegal but that's what makes it fun and worth it! Belos has too big a rod up his butt to understand that magic doesn't need so many rules." Eda said to them.
"But he says-"
"And do you know for a fact that Belos isn't LYING or manipulating the truth?" Eda cut off Willow.
"I have to admit, some of the stuff I read does sound a lot like Nazi Germany." Luz said.
"Germany?" Willow and Skara asked.
"It's a country in the human realm, for around a decade, a person named Adolf Hitler was in power and led a mass genocide on an entire group of people, killed around 11 million people." Luz said.
"11 MILLION?!" Everyone said in shock.
"It's true, it's one of the most horrible events in human history." Camila said, coming down to the den.
Skara passed out and Willow had to catch her.
"B-But Emperor Belos would never do something like that!" Willow said, shaking her head.
"Have you ever read about the "Savage Ages," kid? Here's a fun fact, the petrification spell never came around until Belos, why would anyone need that spell, what gives him the right to decide who deserves that punishment?" Eda asked Willow.
"B-b-but-"
"I have history books from BEFORE he showed up." Eda said, "Every single one says it was a peaceful utopia!"
"You do?" Luz and Willow asked.
Eda reached into her hair and pulled one out as proof.
"You can both read it later but right now, we gotta focus." Eda said, tossing the book to her coffee table, "Now, everyone get suited up, we got a long climb ahead of us."
"And this time, I'll be joining you." Camila said, surprisingly Luz and Eda. "What? Just because I'm a mother, doesn't mean I can't embrace danger."
"You sure about that hot stuff?" Eda asked.
"I mean, it might be fun, and I can hang out with you more, Edalyn." Camila said.
Luz smiled at this yet also wondered how far this would go for her mother and Eda. Would she be calling Eda "mom" before she found her real parents or after?
'I don't know how I would feel about that.' Luz thought.
It would be nice but at the same time….would she be willing to accept Eda as her second parent after she found her blood family? It was all so confusing and how much would it hurt if she had to choose between them? She began to wonder if she wanted to find her real family, after all... who knows what they're like. That's all she could think about as she moved on autopilot as they got ready to fly to the nostrils of the Titan.
I'm trying my best to get chapters posted, but I am seriously exhausted. I get about three hours of sleep at night because I work at night, and people need my help during the day, I am very tired. Follow, Favorite, and Review for more.
