They say fear is the strongest emotion that helped us survive all these years. Well, after the lights went out, everything came rushing back to me. The fear, relief, anxiety. All of it activating at the same time. It was the worst and best experience of my life, because when there's fear, there also comes along pleasure. It felt like experiencing your whole life in a blink of an eye. Then, as the gates opened, I fell right out of the sky, screaming at the top of my lungs.
I felt disoriented and struggled to find balance. For a while I just rolled in the air as my stomach churned whatever's left inside. It took me a while to find 'down' but when I did, it only left me with more worry as the ground came increasingly close. ' Alright, now what!?' I thought panicking. I prayed for whatever gods that watched to keep my body intact when someone finds me, at least then I would have an intact soul to fly around with. I buried my eyes in my arms when I saw the ground only several hundred feets left and braced for impact - and the pain - that would travel in my body. That was if I was lucky enough to live through it.
When I was but several inches on the ground, something unexpected happened. Slowly prying my eyes open to see if I was dead. I saw the ground merely inches away to cracking my skull. Slowly descending to the ground, my feet touched the soft grass that I thought would be covered in blood. 'neat' i chimed nonchalantly.
Jumping in place, Testing out my new body, I realized something was off about it. The weight of my body felt heavier, and I didn't know whether that was for lack of muscle development or I just gained a few pounds. Also the way how my energy seemed to drop almost instantly made me realize that it must have had something to do with my stats being all time low. 'And speaking of stats...'
Immediately a screen appeared Infront of me displaying a few words.
"Welcome Deren, to RWBY"
'okay, nice second impression'
"To start of this journey, please accept your gift that was provided for you"
'oh yeah! starter loot' The screen changed.
(Reward)
30 rations
10 dark shards
15 light shards
10 Omni shards
Grey fruit
Beginner blade
Gamers bag
At the bottom of the screen there were two buttons, 'take' and the other 'refuse'.
' The system must be dumb to think I'll refuse to take a gamer bag for free!' I thought 'take' then everything materialized Infront of me and fell on the ground.
"Okay, that's inconvenient" I said dumbly, my enthusiasm inflating at how much junk was dumped on me.
' This system is irresponsible. Seriously, you don't just dump everything on someone and expect him to be able to cope with it.'
Composing myself onesmore, I rummaged the pile to find the gamer bag.
'if my memory serves me right, this should have infinite storage.' and would help me with the junk on the floor.
Taking a look inside, my face sagged when I saw that the inside looked like any ordinary bag.
'Fitting in all this junk needed a masters degree in geometry.' I mused sarcastically.
Wearing it regardless, a screen showed up that lit my interest.
(Gamer bag) Space - 1 terabyte
Empty...
'huh, it seems I was wrong. It's a gamer bag but it is not infinite as I hoped it would be, and it measures in bytes. Interesting.'
Closing the bag also closed the screen, and opening back would open the screen. Grabbing one of the items lying on the ground, I looked at it long and hard mesmerized at the pure darkness it emitted.
' I take this is a dark shard' I thought. 'how many bytes does this have?' I shoved it into the bag and waited for something to be displayed.
(Gamer bag) Space - 990 gigabytes
1 item
-1 dark shard (10 GB)
'one dark equals to 10GB, equalling to a total of 100GB'
Shoving in the other shards, It quickly calculated the amount it would take to fill the whole bag with shards.
(Gamer bag) Space - 175 gigabytes
3 item
-10 dark shard (100 GB)
-15 light shard (225 GB)
-10 Omni shard (500 GB)
' Oof, this was bad. light shards carry 15GB each, for now it is at least contained. Omni shards on the other hand had a whopping 50GB each. It's so crazy to understand how much power this must have. Not to mention the space it's taking.'
Taking the rest of what's left on the ground, I sighed contented at the small space it occupies.
(Gamer bag) Space - 148 gigabyte
3 item
- 10 dark shard (100 GB)
- 15 light shard (225 GB)
- 10 Omni shard (500 GB)
- 30 rations (15 MB)
- Grey fruit (12MB)
I didn't know what this grey fruit was, but given from the name, I assumed it was some kind of fruit. Despite how rocky it looked, and it's hard surface. Honestly, it looked more like rock than anything.
After looking through everything, I took a look around the area and realized I was in a forest clearing. Grabbing on to my sword, I walked forward in a random direction and began whistling a tune. It was a refreshing relief to take in all the birds and trees mother nature provided, rather than a brightly lit screen whilst surrounded in darkness. It kind of reminded me of something, a familiar feeling stuck in my head I couldn't quite grasp.
Walking mindlessly through the forest, I heard a snarl coming from a bush that startled me. The sword handle squeaked at my grip as I shakily prepared a clumsy stance.
"w-whos there?" I mentally slapped myself for asking such a stupid question. The sound I heard was a snarl and not human, of course it wouldn't answer that question.
The snarl grew louder until it jumped out of the bush to slam it's tusk on my knee. My knee cracked at the sudden force but I endured it and turned away the instant the animal had the chance to recover. Taking a good look at it, it wasn't any normal animal. Dark skin and an exoskeleton covering some parts of it's body. And from the looks of it, it was a boar, with incredibly large tusks. Tusks that WERE HEADING STRAIGHT AT M-
Jumping out of the way with one leg ,painfully, it managed to stuck it's head on a tree and struggled to get out. Taking the opportunity, I grabbed my sword and began violently slashing it. But because of my position, and my injury, all I did was sloppily wave my sword around trying to pierce it's skin. It generated black smoke when It did pierce, but it did no good as the boar tried to break away more quickly. Turning and twisting to find a way out. Eventually his tusks broke into two, and realizing this he took a great distance away from me.
Thinking it was wary of me, I thought I had advantage gained and gave the loudest noise I could possibly create while waving my arms up. I was wrong though and charged at me more ferociously and with a sharper tusk. Panicking, I scrambled to my feet and hopped out of the way of its trajectory. I kept hopping and dodging until I found myself pinned by two trees. The boar smirked and prepared to attack as I anxiously find a away to escape. The boar launched, I had no time to think as I grabbed a shard from my inventory and aimed at the boar. The shard met the boar's tusk with force enough to shatter it. The air surrounding us were pushed by an invisible explosion. I was pushed back with so much force that the tree, along with everything else, got launched away simultaneously.
