The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 19
After picking the boys up from school the four of them headed to Fran and Dave's place, JJ and Em had talked to Fran on the way to pick up the boys and she knew they were right, that the boys needed to know the truth, Fran also knew that the two little boys were going to be as broken hearted as the others and for two little boys who thought their aunt P hung the moon and stars they are going to be completely devastated.
Jack and Henry could tell that something was wrong, something was bad wrong, it was then that JJ, Emily and Fran sat down with them on the couch and JJ looked at the boys and said, "mommy, aunt Em and nana Fran need to talk to the two of you". The little boys looked at each other and then at the three women and sat waiting for them to tell them what they needed to tell them, they didn't know what it was but they knew it must be bad.
Emily said, "it's about auntie Penelope", the two little boys smiled and Henry said, "is aunt P hewe, tan we see her, we miss her", Jack said, "where is aunt Penelope, is she here, did she come with you?", both little boys then started looking around for their aunt. Fran said, "no babies, no she's not here, your aunt P isn't here".
JJ said, "Henry do you remember me telling about my sister Rosaline?", Henry nodded his head and said, "uh huh, she's in heaben", JJ nodded her head and said, "that's right, she's in heaven, she's going to be a guarding angel for you two boys". Jack said, "what's theis got to do with aunt P?", Emily said, "yesterday, aunt P was hurt, she was hurt really bad, she was hurt so bad and she went to heaven, she'll be your guardian angel too, she'll watch over you both and keep you safe".
When Jack and Henry heard that their aunt P was in heaven, they couldn't believe it, how was she there they wondered, why was she there, why wasn't she there with them, no, no, no, she needed to be there with them. Both little boys shook their heads no, they wanted their aunt P, they needed her here with them and they needed her now.
Jack said, "nooooo, we don't want her to be in heaven, we want her here", tears were streaming down the little boys face, Henry said, "pwease momma, pwease ask her to come back from heaben, pwease momma". JJ wrapped her arms around Henry and said, "baby I would if I could but I can't, aunt P is gone and she can't come back", Henry screamed, "nooooooooooooooo, noooooooo, bwing aunt P back, pweaseeeee", he put his two little hands together and said, "pweaseeeeeee".
Fran got down on the floor between Jack and Henry and said, "your aunt P loved you both so much, you were her Jackers and her little sunshine", the little boys looked at her and said, "pwease ask her to come back nana, pwease?", Fran, with tears streaming down her face said, "baby I would if I could but nana can't, nana can't".
The two little boys threw their arms around Fran as the three cried together, they cried and cried, they cried for Penelope, they cried for their loss, they cried for the time they would never get back with her. JJ and Emily joined them on the floor and they too cried, they cried for their friend, their sister, their teammate, they were all so broken hearted and their only outlet was to cry and so they did, they cried and screamed and cried and screamed until they were all hoarse.
Jack looked at Fran and said, "nana Fran?", Fran wiped away the little boys tears and said, "yes baby?", Jack smiled and said, "if aunt P can't be here with me, I'm glad that she's watching over me, watching over us from heaven". Henry snuffed and sniffed and said, "m m me too nana, m m me too", Fran hugged the little boys tight and said, "me too babies, me too", she then glanced up at JJ and Emily who mouthed the words, "thank you".
Fran closed her eyes as she rocked the little boys back and forth, tears streaming down all of their faces, they had lost an amazing woman, they had lost a best friend, an aunt, a sister, a future girlfriend and daughter in law, Fran also lost the woman she wanted to give her grand babies, she was gone, gone and they would never ever get her back again, she was now and would forever be their angel, their guardian angel.
