Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter fifty-four: Party at Dawn's! Woohoo!
After settling a few things in Veilstone City yesterday, the heroes today found themselves getting off of a ferry blimp service at a port in Twinleaf Town, arriving with a number of the persons who were needed to help get everything ready for the big party to celebrate the fact that Dawn, one of Twinleaf Town's own locals, had just become the champion of Sinnoh. After those persons saw Dawn and the boys off, said youth made a beeline right for the Berlitz residence.
"Oh, I just got a call telling me that the Team Galactic member uniforms that Dawn and I saved from the warehouse raid just arrived here," Kenny said as he put his phone away, "The one Dawn claimed for herself is in an outfit box sitting on her bed in her room, and all of the ones I snagged are in the basement of my family's house."
"I still don't know why you and Dawn think saving those costumes is a good idea," Brock said to Kenny, still honestly confused as to why the reborn trainers saved those uniforms.
Shrugging, Dawn said, "At the very least, we'll have something to wear if and when we ever go to a costume party."
Ash let out a bit of a laugh. "Yeah, those would be funny costumes to wear to such a party."
After a bit of walking, the heroes made it to the Berlitz residence, with Dawn opening the front door and leading the boys in as she called out, "Mom! I'm ba-"
"Dawn!" Johanna's voice called out from the living room, sounding happy and excited while at the same time also sounding like she might cry. Suddenly, the heroes were rushed by Johanna who came out, met them in the entryway, and threw her arms around Dawn to hug her, gently swaying from side to side as she held her daughter and cried tender tears of joy and pride.
After letting go of Dawn, Johanna put her hands on Dawn's shoulders, looked her right in the eyes as she smiled while still crying those aforementioned tender tears of joy and pride. "You... you had actually done more than what I could have expected. You really did blaze your own trail different from mine, and as a result you're now the Sinnoh region's league champion. I..." Johanna went back to hugging Dawn. "...I can't begin to express how proud I am of what you've been able to do."
As the boys looked on, Dawn, although a bit embarrassed, was still appreciative of the sincere pride her mother had in her monumental accomplishment. "...Thanks, mom," Dawn said, "Anyway, the guys and I literally just came in, so I think I speak for all of them when I say we'd like to rest for a bit before we do any-"
"Oh Dawn," Johanna interrupted, "Before you and your friends here do anything, Professor Rowan is actually here to see you. We heard that you'd be coming in today, so he decided to come here to Twinleaf Town ahead of time so he could catch you here." Giving her daugter a sly, knowing look, Johanna added, "He also has something for you."
"A passport to let her visit the other regions?" Kenny guessed as he and the other heroes were all led into the living room, "Because Dawn and I will both be needing one each for our plans to seek further adventure in other regions."
Inside of the Berlitz family residence, the heroes were sitting around with Johanna and Rowan. "I'm sure you've heard this before, and you're going to be hearing it a lot more when the party happens, but it does bear repeating given the magnitude of how monumental of an accomplishment it is," Rowan said, "Dawn, congratulations on becoming the champion of Sinnoh."
"Thank you, Professor," Dawn said.
Rowan nodded once. "Indeed. Anyway, it feels to me as if it was just the other day that I had given you that Chimchar. The next day it was followed by me giving that Turtwig to Kenny, and for some odd reason one of the young ladies who works for me as an assistant at my lab was relieved when Kenny took that Turtwig."
Shrugging, Kenny said, "What can I say, Professor R? Some folks can't handle the power of cringe."
Rowan looked to Kenny, gave a neutral hum, then turned back to look at Dawn. "As I was saying. You had chosen Chimchar, which would mean that usually you'd have no way of knowing what it'd be like if you had chosen either Turtwig or Piplup instead."
Dawn, knowing that the Turtwig from that day is now Kenny's Torterra Roshi, said, "Well I might have something of an idea on what it'd be like had I chosen Turtwig instead, given Kenny chose it as his starter. Also Ash got a Turtwig. Both of the Turtwigs in question are now Torterra."
"Well then, young lady," Rowan said with a hum of amusement in his tone, "You'll get to find out both what it'd be like if you had chosen Turtwig and what it'd be like if you had chosen Piplup." Rowan took out two pokéballs and tossed them up, calling out a Turtwig and a Piplup to the amazement of the heroes, particularly Ash and Brock. "If you want them," Rowan said, "Turtwig and Piplup here are both yours to take. Consider it a gift to congratulate you on becoming champion."
"Well hot dang, dude!" Kenny said, "Now you'll have all of the Pokémon offered as a trainer's first Pokémon here in Sinnoh!"
Dawn nodded in agreement, and graciously accepted Turtwig and Piplup. "Oh, I wonder how they'll get along with Chi-Chi," Dawn said, "Given that she has a serious head start compared to them."
...
After Dawn and Kenny made arrangements with Rowan to get a hold of some passports so that they could go to the other regions for their gym challenge tour, the heroes and Johanna were all in the Berlitz residence yard, where Dawn was looking at her new Turtwig and Piplup. The Turtwig, personality wise, showed that it preferred the company of ladies over the company of guys, but it wasn't lewd about it like Roshi or Pigeon.
As for Piplup, it looked to be an intelligent, at-attention kind of Pokémon, sort of reminding Dawn of a private agent; totally unlike the Piplup that was claimed by anime!Dawn in the anime in Dawn's and Kenny's previous life. Scanning their respective pokéballs with her pokédex, Dawn learned both Turtwig and Piplup were male, Turtwig had a jolly nature and the Overgrow ability, and Piplup had a timid nature and the Torrent ability.
Ash, seeing Dawn scanning the pokéballs of Turtwig and Piplup, had a mildly curious look on his face. "...Why are you doing that, Dawn?" Ash asked, his tone carrying a mild hint of curiosity.
"Because it's how a trainer can find out what gender their Pokémon is," Dawn explained, "Professor Rowan didn't tell me what their genders were before he left, and I want to know if they're boys or girls or a boy and a girl before I name them. Don't want to risk giving a typical girl name to a boy."
Ash smiled, all of his curiosity having melted away. "Oh yeah, you and Kenny both name your respective Pokémon."
Putting her pokédex away, Dawn said, "Well they're both boys." Dawn looked down at Turtwig and Piplup, considered them for a second as she took note of their personalities that they were both showcasing. "...You, Turtwig," Dawn said while pointing at her Turtwig, "Shall be named Muten. It's a name from the same vein as the name Roshi, which is what Kenny named his starter Turtwig who is now a Torterra."
"Aww, so you're sort of naming him after your friend's Torterra," Johanna said, "That's kind of cute."
Accepting the name Dawn had given him, Muten the Turtwig turned to look at Piplup as Dawn turned her attention to him. "As for you, Piplup," Dawn said, "I'm naming you Kowalski. I feel that you're giving off smart, serious agent vibes, and a name like that is fitting." Kowalski the Piplup then gave Dawn a salute. Clapping her hands together, Dawn said, "Well I think we ought to unwind a bit, boys. The party's tomorrow, so there's no need to get too excited yet."
The boys all nodded in agreement with Dawn, and together the four heroes proceeded to unwind a bit before the next day. Dawn also wanted to take care of a few things, mostly in regards to her bedroom upstairs in the house.
While Kenny went back to his family's house, and Ash and Brock proceeded to take a stroll around Twinleaf Town for a bit, Dawn was up in her bedroom. It was roomy and spacious enough for the reborn trainer to be accompanied by Chi-Chi, Muten, and Kowalski. Dawn's room now held various signs of her travels and accomplishments during the course of her journey, ever since she had first woken up after being isekai'd into this world.
The mantle in her room held her trophies; the one for winning the Lily of the Valley Conference, and the one awarded for becoming champion of Sinnoh. Next to the mantle on the wall to Dawn's right were frames; one displayed her eight Sinnoh gym badges, two small ones hanging next to the badges each held the Sinnoh Champion Ribbon and the Arrowroot Contest ribbon respectively, and above the frames was the sash that said 'CHAMPION' that Dawn wore for that ceremony when she had become the champion.
On a nearby table sat the Phione plushy Dawn had bought in Chocovine Town, sitting next to various magazines and newspapers that all had articles about Dawn's accomplishments and feats; there was, for example, a copy of the magazine Dawn had read that one time with said magazine having an article about how Dawn protected the Adamant Orb while it was in Eterna City. Finally, in a corner near that table leaned the metal staff Dawn picked up at Mt. Coronet while Team Galactic was there, before she and the boys got to Twinleaf Town for the festival.
The reborn trainer saw that she had indeed built up quite the collection of accolades and other symbols of her journey in the world she had been reborn into thus far, and she'd only traveled in the Sinnoh region. Dawn and Kenny, after the party in Twinleaf Town to celebrate Dawn becoming the champion of Sinnoh, were set to go to Kanto to earn the badges there. And where else might they end up going after that?
Dawn turned around, to look at her Infernape, Turtwig, and Piplup. "Chi-Chi, boys," Dawn said, "We got a lot a head of us after the party here in town. Muten and Kowalski especially, as we've got to get them caught up to the rest of the rotation." Dawn's Pokémon all agreed with her, and the two starters who were unevolved seemed to be looking forward to training and getting stronger. But for the time being, it was a time of peace and relaxation.
And celebration.
The following day, the party was in full swing. Everyone all over was partying and cheering in celebration as one of Twinleaf Town's own had become the champion of Sinnoh. The boys, Ash especially so, were eating their fill, while Dawn accompanied by Chi-Chi hung back as she enjoyed a large sweet drink. As she took a sip from her drink, Dawn heard a certain familiar female voice call out, "So you're the top trainer Sinnoh has to offer now, Dee-Dee. Don't let it go to your head!"
Dawn turned around and saw some of the kids from the honey tree event Professor Rowan ran back in Floaroma Town, led by the blonde girl who wanted and luckily got a female Combee. Pointing right at Dawn, the blonde girl went on, "What makes you think you're so special? You're still same old Dee-Dee from Kindergarten, you know!"
"And your point..." Dawn said dryly, trailing off in a manner that showed she expected to be filled in on what she was apparently missing here.
Growling in annoyance, the blonde girl stamped her feet in the dirt. "I can't believe the class weird girl is now the talk of the town that everyone's giving glowing reviews of! I'm the prettiest, coolest, and richest kid in our age group!"
"Umm, actually," the brunette girl began, "Due to the reward money that Dawn and Kenny split evenly between them because they caught and turned in that Pokémon Poacher lady, they tie for the position of richest kid in our age group here in Twinleaf Town. That was a fifty million dollar reward."
"Actually, ten million went to reconstruction efforts for Snowpoint Temple," Kenny pointed out.
"And another ten million went to the recent Twinleaf Town festival," Dawn added, "Kenny and I split the rest evenly."
Shrugging, the brunette girl replied, "You two still tie for the position of richest kid in our age group here in Twinleaf Town."
"I can't stand Dee-Dee being better than me in any way!" the blonde girl nearly screamed. Pointing right at Dawn, the blonde girl demanded, "I challenge you to a Pokémon battle! Three on three!"
Dawn herself shrugged. "Fine. Let's find a more spacious area to have our battle in." Dawn had her named Infernape follow her, leading the students from Dawn's old kindergarten class here, as well as the boys, off to a more spacious area to have their battle in.
...
Having Brock act as referee, Dawn said as she stood away from the blonde girl, "I'll have Chi-Chi here go in as my first Pokémon for the battle." Dawn never even bothered recalling her Infernape, as she had a feeling that the blonde girl will have the Pokémon that she had from the honey tree event back in Floaroma Town, probably just more evolved. Chi-Chi then ran out into the space that was going to be used as the battlefield.
Tossing up a pokéball, the blonde girl said, "Vespiquen, I choose you!" Well she did want, and ended up catching, a female Combee. Clenching a fist, the blonde girl declared, "Vespiquen, use Gust!"
"Chi-Chi, use Fire Punch!" Dawn ordered.
As Vespiquen proceeded to whip up a small gust of wind to cast at Chi-Chi, the named Infernape rushed in and slugged Vespiquen in the gut with a fist that was engulfed in flames. Vespiquen was thrown up and then fell down onto the ground, clearly knocked out. "Vespiquen is unable to battle!" Brock announced, "The winner is Infernape!"
Growling in annoyance, the blonde girl recalled her fainted Vespiquen and sent a Lopunny out next. "Lopunny, use Facade!" the blonde girl called out.
"Chi-Chi, use Brick Break!" Dawn commanded.
Both Pokémon rushed at one another, but Chi-Chi was quicker and, swinging her right hand towards Lopunny in a chopping motion, struck the bunny Pokémon with a devastating chopping strike that made it reel back before falling over onto the ground and passing out, defeated. "Lopunny is unable to battle!" Brock announced, "The winner is Infernape!"
Once again growling in annoyance but sounding slightly more irritated this time, the blonde girl called her fainted Lopunny out and sent out a Blissey in its place. "Blissey, use Double Edge!" the blonde girl exclaimed.
"Chi-Chi, use Brick Break again!" Dawn called out.
Once again, borh Pokémon in the battle rushed at one another and, once again, Chi-Chi was quicker and struck her opponent with a powerful Brick Break that ended up knocking Blissey out in one hit; Dawn remembered how the Blissey line worked in the video games in her and Kenny's previous life, and they despite their utterly insane base HP can still go down very quick if struck by a physical move which exploits Blissey's garbage physical defense. Blissey will go down even quicker to said physical attack if it's fighting type. This was also seen in Dawn's battle with Paul.
Holding up a hand, Brock announced, "Blissey is unable to battle! The winner is Infernape! Victory of this battle goes to Dawn!"
As Ash and Kenny applauded Dawn for her win, the blonde girl after she recalled her Blissey said, "And now you're able to beat me! How is it fair that someone who ranked under me on the social hierarchy here in Twinleaf Town is now so far above me?"
"Uhh, for starters I'm not even actually concerned about climbing the social hierarchy ladder here in Twinleaf Town among our age group," Dawn said as Chi-Chi moved to stand next to her, "What all climbing I did happened without me even knowing or caring." Proceeding to list things off of her fingers, Dawn went on, "Secondly, regardless of how things worked in the social circle for our age group here in Twinleaf Town, I wanted to make an effort to improve myself. What, did you think that everyone would keep the same standing forever?"
Shrugging, the blonde girl replied, "Well what did you expect? I got so used to everything being as it was that I was expecting things to stay constant."
"The others from our old kindergarten class will not stay the same forever," Dawn pointed out, "All of them, same as you and me, will be wanting better deals in their lives. They're going to work to build themselves up, to improve themselves, to take the initiative and get those better deals that they all want. They won't remain as your yes-men forever." Dawn suddenly realized it that this conversation had hallmarks making it similar to an extent to the issues Mitchell had with Rhyanna.
Stamping her foot into the ground again, the blonde girl complained, "But I want to stay at the top! To stay as the most popular here in Twinleaf Town!"
Pointing at the blonde girl, Dawn said, "If you want to keep your position, then you better work for keeping it."
"Sort of like how you will now have to work to keep your position as champion of Sinnoh whenever someone is able to challenge you," Kenny pointed out.
Dawn nodded in agreement. "Yes. Exactly."
Seeing that there was no continuing here, the blonde girl took off, with what friends she had shown up with leaving with her. After the old kindergarten class was gone, Kenny turned to look right at where Dawn stood. "...Of course, my main man, with you being the champion of Sinnoh now, I think that you're in danger of taking that girl's spot as most popular here in Twinleaf Town."
"A party being thrown in your honor is happening all over the town," Ash added, an amused smirk on his face, "If that doesn't scream 'popular', then I don't know what does."
Shrugging, Dawn replied, "Well if you boys say so. Just don't tell that girl who tried ribbing me know all of this, alright? She'll probably never leave me alone about it." Kenny, Ash, and Brock all let out some laughs that showed that they saw what Dawn was getting at. With what ill will towards her now dealt with, Dawn was free to resume enjoying the party being thrown all over Twinleaf Town in her honor to celebrate her becoming champion of Sinnoh.
The following day, after the party had wrapped up, Dawn woke up in her bed in her room. Laying on large, plush cushions on the floor near Dawn's bed were Muten and Kowalski; Chi-Chi, along with Akiza, Leni, and Tsukune, were all in their respective balls at the moment. Dawn got up out of bed, wearing a sleep tank top and a pair of sweatpants as her sleep outfit; although she could get away with continuing to use the gown she was wearing when she had first woken up in this world, Dawn still felt uneasy about wearing it given what she was in her previous life. This new sleep outfit is at least gender neutral.
Today was the day that Dawn, as well as Kenny, Ash, and Brock, would be leaving Sinnoh for the Kanto region; Ash said that he heard that Professor Oak will be heading to the Unova region for a conference and that Delia (Ash's mom) was going to accompany him. Ash decided that he'll give the gym challenge in Unova a try, with Dawn and Kenny taking note on that saying that, when they finish the parts of their gym challenge tour in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, they'll swing by Unova next.
Due to their knowledge from their previous lives, Dawn and Kenny already knew about Unova, as well as a few other regions, but Ash and Brock don't know that. The two reborn trainers plan to use what Pokémon they already have to challenge the gyms in other regions, rather than take a 'fresh start' approach like what Ash was prone to do in the anime in their previous lives. They hoped that plan would let them clear the gyms in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn quickly so they can head on over to Unova and quickly catch up to whatever point Ash would be at.
Dawn had to go check with Professor Rowan before leaving Sinnoh, so after getting dressed and recalling Muten and Kowalski, Dawn headed out of her and her mom's place to go see Rowan. The reborn trainer hopped onto her bike and sled off for Sandgem Town. On the way, she saw Kenny pull up to her on his own bike. "You off to see Professor R as well, dude?" Kenny asked.
"Professor Rowan said that he needs me to come by his lab to help a young girl with picking her first Pokémon," Dawn explained, "And that I, due to having recently becoming champion, could help give the young girl some guidance."
"Well what are we waiting for?" Kenny said, "Last one to Professor R's place is a weeb!" Kenny then put a lot more effort into riding his bike to Sandgem Town, forcing Dawn to have to ride hard to try to keep up with him. This was yet another reason why Dawn was glad that her asthma that she had in her previous life, which is why she had died and ended up getting reborn into this new world, had not carried over to her new life here.
Still, Dawn and Kenny would soon be going on a new journey through the other regions, starting in Kanto. The prospect of new adventure had both of the reborn trainers excited, what with the people they will get to meet, all of the badges they'll be earning, and probably most tantalizing of all, new Pokémon to catch. Dawn still wanted to capture a few choice Pokémon in the Sinnoh dex from Turtwig to Arceus; the Sinnoh Pokémon were still her favorites, after all.
...But maybe, she might find one or two others before Turtwig and after Arceus that will spark her interest and compel her to try to snag them. Who knows? Dawn certainly doesn't.
END, CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the party in Twinleaf Town to celebrate Dawn becoming champion of Sinnoh, Dawn take a look at her accomplishments and what all symbols of her journey she's accumulated thus far, then meet up with Kenny before heading off to see Professor Rowan for something at his lab in Sandgem Town. This chapter was originally going to include at least part of the episode with that Shinko girl, but that would have made the chapter drag on for way to long, so Shinko will have to wait until the next chapter to pop up. So until then, take care.
