Episode 2: Pokémon Emergency!
In Viridian City, just as the sun was setting, a young woman's voice is heard over the loudspeakers. The speaker is a young policewoman just around either nineteen of age to her twenties. She wore a purple cap with a black rim, red top, and gold star, a purple collared shirt with red trim, a sky blue chestpiece, and gold shoulder pads, a black purse, a matching belt with a gold buckle, a purple skirt, black shoes, and white gloves.
"Attention citizens of Viridian City! We have reports of Pokémon thieves in the area! Be on the lookout for suspicious looking characters in the area! Also, there are reports of strange creatures in the area as well! If you see these suspicious characters or creatures, be sure to report to it to the police immediately! I repeat! We have reports of Pokémon thieves in the area! Be on the lookout for suspicious looking characters in the area! Also, there are reports of strange creatures in the area as well! If you see these suspicious characters or creatures, be sure to report to it to the police immediately!" That is all!" The police woman said over the speaker. Just then, a man and woman ran up to the young policewoman. The man has short black hair and amber eyes and he had a wore small glasses. He wore a white shirt and a dark blue jacket along with dark blue pants and brown shoes while the woman was a spitting image of Kairi; she had the same eye and hair color as she did. She wore a white blouse and a light blue long skirt. She wore light tan open toe shoes.
"Officer, you have got to help us!" The man said.
"Our daughter is missing and we have no idea where she went!" The woman added.
"Missing? Not another one," the policewoman groaned. Inside the booths are posters of missing people. Many of them read: "Have seen me?" They were men, women, and children. "Can you describe your daughter?"
"She looks like me. Blue eyes and red hair," the woman said.
"Is there any reason why your daughter would run away?" The policewoman asked.
"She didn't run away!" The man argued. "She left this morning, and we haven't heard back from her and we're going frantic!"
"Alright, alright. Just calm down. I'm sure everything will work out. You just head on home and I- huh?" Officer Jenny asked. She saw Sora and Kairi run up with the injured Pokémon. The man and woman noticed them, and they knew who one of the kids were.
"Kairi!" The man and woman cried. They ran up to her.
"Mom, dad?" Kairi asked in surprise.
"Oh, thank goodness you're okay! Mommy's been so worried!" The woman said.
"You gave us quite a scare, little lady," the man sternly said.
"I'm sorry, mom and dad. I didn't mean to worry you. I was just on a nature walk, and I saw a Caterpie in a cage. I couldn't leave the poor Pokémon there, so I let her out. But then, those Pokémon Hunters came and kidnapped me. Angel must have gotten away to find help after that," Kairi explained.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"How did you get away, Kairi?" The man asked.
"That would be me, sir," Sora said. The man and woman turned to Sora. "It was Angel here who led me to your daughter, and I got her out of there. And those hunters had all those Spearow and sicced them on us," Sora said.
"Pokémon Hunters with Spearow. It has to be them again. I've been after them for weeks. I'll be adding kidnapping to the list of crimes," the policewoman said.
"Oh, Angel's been hurt," the woman said.
"It has to be those Spearow, I just know it," the man said.
"It's not just Angel. His Pikachu's hurt, too," Kairi said. The woman looked at the mouse Pokémon in Sora's arms.
"Oh, the poor thing," the woman said.
"We were heading for the Pokémon Center when we bumped into you," Kairi said.
"Then, we must get there right away," the man said.
"How about I take you there, myself?" The policewoman offered.
"You sure?" Sora asked.
"It's no trouble. It's a whole lot faster to get there than on foot," the policewoman said.
"Thanks, officer," Sora said.
"It's my duty. Just call me Officer Jenny," Officer Jenny said.
Sora, Kairi, and her parents obliged the policewoman as they went for her motorcycle. Kairi's mother rode behind her as Kairi's father sat in the side car with the kids, holding Pikachu and Angel. Officer Jenny drove off pass a wanted poster with two individuals on it.
One is a woman who has magenta long hair that she wears curled in a comet-tail behind her head. She typically wears a pair of green pearl earrings that are meant to complement her blue eyes. She wore a white uniform. It consists of a short black shirt that exposes her midriff under a white high collared sleeved shirt emblazoned with a large red R, a white miniskirt, black leg-length boots, and long black arm-sleeves.
Another is a man who has shoulder-length periwinkle hair with a single fringe sprouting from the center and green eyes. He is usually seen in the same uniform, which consists of a white long sleeve shirt with a large red R on it, a black short sleeve undershirt, white pants with a purple belt, black boots, and matching gloves.
And with them is is a small, bipedal, feline Pokémon. It has two cream whiskers on each side of its oval-shaped face and two hairs sticking up on either side of the golden coin-like gem on its forehead. It also has a curled tail. Its tail and feet are cream-colored like the rest of it, but they are brown at the end. It has small paw pads on the undersides of its heels and toes. It is much like a Maneki Neko, a toy of Japanese descent known for bobbing its arm and hand up and down. This Pokémon is known as Meowth.
A fishing line with hook attached snags a wanted poster.
"Look at this. The nerve," the woman said.
"Well, we are wanted criminals after all," the man pointed out.
"Not that, you dolt! I mean, they got my bad side," the woman said. Meowth just rolled its eyes.
"Just about any side is your bad side. But forget about that, because we got a job to do, remember?" Meowth pointed.
"I know. To catch rare Pokémon for the boss," the woman said.
"And with the talk of strange creatures going on, this'll be the distraction we need," the man said.
"James, don't tell me you actually buy this creature thing," the woman said.
"It's got everyone talking, Jessie. There are rumors of baffling disappearances going on. Some of our fellow members of Team Rocket hasn't reported in," James said.
"Yeah, that's just scary," Meowth said. "But James has a point. With the cops chasing after ghosts and goblins, we can swipe any Pokémon that comes in our cross hairs."
"And we can get that promotion we deserve," James said.
"Yeah!" The trio cheered.
It is revealed they're up in a hot air balloon shaped like Meowth's head.
Over to Officer Jenny and the group, the Pokémon Center is within sight.
"And there she is!" Officer Jenny said.
"That's good. We can walk straight in the front door," Sora said.
"Nonsense. I could just take you directly inside!" Officer Jenny said.
"What?!" Sora, Kairi, and her parents exclaimed. They screamed as Officer Jenny drove her motorcycle inside and skids to the front. At the counter is a young nurse. She has brink pink hair and fair skin. She wore a Mexican-pink colored dress with a white nurse apron, and flat Mary Jane shoes.
"Jenny, we have a driveway, you know," the nurse said in a peeved tone.
"Sorry, Joy, but we have a situation over here," Officer Jenny said.
"My Pikachu got injured by Spearow owned by Pokémon Hunters!" Sora said.
"And so did my Eevee!" Kairi added.
"Pokémon Hunters?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Yeah. It has to be those two, I can bet my hat on that," Officer Jenny said. Nurse Joy looked at the injured Pokémon.
"Oh dear. This looks serious," Nurse Joy said. "Get two stretchers in here!" Coming in are four Pokémon. They're all round, pink Pokémon. They have stubby arms and legs with no visible digits. They have small black eyes and a mouth with no visible nose. They have three long frills on each side of their heads. They also have a short tail and a pouch with a white egg. Their feet, pouch, and the ends of its frills are a darker shade of pink. These Pokémon are Chansey.
Two each are bringing in a stretcher for Pikachu and Angel.
"Chansey," the Chansey said.
"Take these two to the back," Nurse Joy said.
"Chansey," the Chansey said, taking the patients at back. Nurse Joy turned to the two.
"How did you end up in that kind of situation?" Nurse Joy asked.
"It's like this. I was taking a nature walk along with my Eevee, Angel, and that's when we came across a Caterpie in the cage. We both got her out, and that's when they caught us; well, they got me, and Angel ran off to find help," Kairi said.
"That's when me and Pikachu bumped into Angel, and she led us to their camp, and I found her in a sack, and her hands tied and mouth taped shut," Sora said. Kairi's parents were grateful that Sora had found her before the unthinkable happened to her. Kairi's father knew there was more than they were telling.
"That doesn't answer how they got hurt," Nurse Joy said.
"They said those hunters had Spearow. A whole flock of them, is that right?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Yeah. How did you know it was a flock?" Sora asked.
"That was the report I got on them," Officer Jenny said. "But I plan to do a full investigation on it." She realized she left her motorcycle in the lobby. "Ooh. As soon as I get my motorcycle out of the way." She chuckled nervously.
"Next time, use the driveway, or put it in the parking lot, please," Nurse Joy said. She wasn't amused by how Officer Jenny had to ride in the Pokémon Center like her motorcycle was a big, white horse. Speaking of which, the policewoman got on and rode the motorcycle out. "Honestly." She looked at the two. "I'll see what I can to help your Pikachu and Eevee, until then, please wait here."
"Okay," Kairi said.
"Can do," Sora added.
Nurse Joy went and joined the Chansey around back. Sora, Kairi, and her parents sat down in the lobby to wait.
"Say, son, we didn't get a chance to introduce ourselves earlier. My name's Yuta, and this is my wife, Mirei," Yuta introduced himself.
"It's nice to meet you," Mirei said.
"What's your name?" Yuta asked.
"I'm Sora," Sora introduced himself.
"Sora? Such a nice name," Mirei said.
"Thanks," Sora said, blushing.
"Sora, I just wanted to thank you for saving our daughter. She means the world to the both of us. I know I would never forgive myself if something were to happen to her," Yuta said.
"You're welcome," Sora said with a nervous smile.
"You don't need to be nervous, Sora. My husband doesn't bite," Mirei joked, making Kairi giggle. Sora and Yuta both chuckled along with Mirei.
"Putting my wife's joke aside, I have a feeling there's a little more than you were telling us," Yuta pointed out. Sora didn't know how to answer. He wondered if Kairi's father would believe him if he told him about seeing monsters on the way over, or that he was making it up.
"I could never fool you, dad," Kairi said. She turned to Sora. "You might as well tell them, Sora."
"Okay. Just when we were running from the hunters and their Spearow, we had a run-in with some black things. No idea what they were. They weren't Pokémon, I can tell you," Sora said.
"Did these black things have yellow eyes, by any chance?" Yuta asked.
"Yeah, they did," Sora said. Yuta sighed as he took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes.
"Just as I feared," Yuta said. Mirei shared his worries. Sora and Kairi were lost.
"Just as you feared?" Kairi asked.
"Kairi, I think it's about time you knew," Mirei said.
"Knew what?" Kairi asked.
"Yes, it's time you knew about the creatures you saw. The creatures you saw are known as the Heartless," Yuta said.
"The Heartless?" Sora asked.
"Yes. They're creatures without hearts. They attracted to the darkness in the hearts of people and Pokémon," Mirei said.
"How did you get away from them?" Mirei asked.
"Funny you should ask," Sora said. "This thing just appeared." Sora summoned his Keyblade, amazing Kairi's parents.
"So that's it. You're a Keyblade Wielder," Yuta said.
"Keybkade Wielder?" Sora asked.
"Yes. The Heartless will now come after you since now wield the Keyblade," Sora said.
"How did this happen? I didn't ask for this," Sora said.
"The Keyblade chooses its master, and it chose you," Mirei said.
"Me?" Sora asked.
"Yes. The Keyblade is the only thing the Heartless are afraid of, so they'll be coming for you, no matter what," Yuta said.
"Great," Sora said.
"Also, the Keyblade can be used to unlock all sorts of locks, but under no circumstances, you never abuse the Keyblade's power. The Keyblade is to be used only in an emergency," Yuta said.
"Oh, I get you," Sora said. He realized in the wrong hands, it would be used to unlock any locks, and cause trouble for city or town. The Keyblade disappeared, knowing he would summon it again if he needs to. "I think I'll make a phone call at home. Excuse me." Sora stood up and walked over to the phone. Mirei looked at Kairi and she smiled. She knew her daughter's in love. Sora got to the picture phone and dialed his home phone number.
In Pallet Town, the picture phone began ringing. Karen was downstairs and she got up.
"I got it!" Karen said. She answered the picture phone. "Hello, Ketchum residence, Karen speaking."
"Hey, sis," Sora said.
"Sora!" Karen said happily. The Sora appeared on the screen. "It's good to hear your voice! It's been forever!"
"What do you mean forever? It's only been a day," Sora said.
"Yes, it feels like forever. Where are you?" Karen asked.
"Viridian City," Sora said.
"Viridian City already? It took dad about four days to get there," Karen said.
"Really, I didn't know that," Sora said.
"Neither did In until after you left," Karen said.
"Karen, who's on the phone?" Delia asked, walking down stairs. She wore her bathrobe and had her hair wrapped in a towel.
"Mom, it's Sora," Karen said. Delia yelped in delight and unwrapped the towel and went to the screen.
"Sora, hello! How are you?" Delia asked.
"I'm doing okay, mom," Sora said.
"Where are you, Sora?" Delia asked.
"Sora's in Viridian City," Karen answered.
"It's true," Sora said. "I'm at the Pokémon Center right now."
"I'm glad to hear you're doing well for yourself! You're soaring like a proud Spearow!" Delia said.
"If you say so," Sora said.
"Yes, I say so. Just don't stay up too laye, and remember to brush your teeth after every meal, and eat your vegetables," Delia said.
"I'll do all those things. Just calling to say hi," Sora said.
"Oh, Sora, there is one more thing I want you to have. I forgot to give it to you, so I need you to stay in Viridian City a little longer," Delia said. Sora was worried if it was an another extra pair of underwear.
"Um, okay," Sora said.
"Now, I'm going to let you go just so you can get ready for bed, but don't forget to eat before bed," Delia said.
"I won't," Sora said.
"And be sure to call every once in a while, okay?" Delia asked.
"I'll try," Sora said.
"I won't keep you. Love you," Delia said.
"Love you, too," Sora said.
"Take care," Karen said. Sora hung up.
Over to Kairi and her parents, they smiled at their daughter, happy and proud of Kairi for it.
"Kairi, I take it you're taking a liking to him," Mirei said. Kairi blushed and looked at her mother.
"Mom, we're not going out or anything. We've only just met," Kairi said, feeling embarrassed.
"You can't fool us, kiddo. We know love when we see it, and we're seeing it," Yuta said.
"Your father's right, honey. I couldn't fool my mom when I fell for your dad, and she couldn't fool hers when she fell for your grandfather," Mirei said. Kairi blushed even redder. "It's hard to believe my little girl's becoming a lovely young woman."
"Normally, fathers wouldn't allow their little girls to date until they're old enough to marry, but as a grateful father, I can be cool with it. I mean, Sora looks like a good kid to me," Yuta said.
"Just what did you think of Sora when you first saw him?" Mirei asked.
"I thought he was really cute," Kairi admitted while blushing.
"I thought he was really handsome," Mirei said. She looked right at her daughter.
"Yeah," Kairi said. She began to think long and hard. She wanted to get to know Sora as much as she could, so she decided to take a stand. "Mom, dad. There's something I wanna tell you now."
"What is it, hun?" Yuta asked.
"I decided I wanna go on a Pokémon journey and learn how to be a Pokémon Trainer," Kairi said. This surprised her parents.
"You wanna become a Pokémon Trainer, Kairi?" Yuta asked. "You didn't forget about what happened, did you, Kairi?"
"I didn't forget, and it could have happened to anyone. But I want to go and travel around the Kanto region and see what I can see," Kairi stated. They looked at each other.
"Kairi, what about the Heartless?" Yuta asked.
"I'm not afraid of them. I got Angel by my side, and I can catch more Pokémon as well," Kairi said. Mirei smiled right at her.
"You wanna be with Sora much, much longer, don't you?" Mirei asked.
"That is the main reason, mom. But I was worried you wouldn't approve," Kairi said.
"Honey, you don't need a stamp of approval from us," Yuta said.
"Your father's right, dear. And so are you. There are things that are beyond our control. Your grandma would agree with you fully. You should follow your heart," Mirei said. This made Kairi smile. Sora came right back.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," Sora said.
"Who was it that you called, son?" Yuta asked.
"Just my mom and sister. They said they're proud of me, and everything. Also, they said there was one more thing my mom forgot to get me. So, I have to wait here just a little longer," Sora said.
"I understand, Sora. Where do you live exactly?" Mirei asked.
"In Pallet Town," Sora said.
"And it's just you, your mom, and sister?" Mirei asked.
"Yeah, it is," Sora said. Just when he was about to say more, a ringing sound is heard. "Now what?" Sora walked up to the counter and saw it was the phone on the desk. He looked for Nurse Joy. "Hello? Nurse Joy? The phone's ringing!" Sora assumed she was too far to hear him. He pressed the button. "Hello, Pokémon Center here. Who's calling?"
"Good, I got through," a familiar voice spoke. Sora knew that voice well. It turns out to be Professor Oak, but they were seeing his back. "Hello, Sora! How have you been in your first day as a Trainer?"
"I think I should be facing you in the front, professor," Sora said.
"Huh?" Professor Oak asked. He turned and realized that he had the wrong camera active. "Oops! Wrong camera!" He quickly switched the camera to face everyone properly. "That's better."
"Professor, why are you calling?" Sora asked.
"I just got off the phone with your mother, and she told me you're in the Pokémon Center in Viridian City, is that right?" Professor Oak asked.
"Yes, professor," Sora said.
"Wonderful. And have you caught any new Pokémon since you went on your way?" Professor Oak asked.
"I caught a Pidgey and a Rattata," Sora answered.
"Aw, good. I was worried you didn't have full control over the situation. But at least you're making a much better start than I thought you would," Professor Oak said. Sora chuckled nervously. Kairi stepped up.
"Excuse me, Professor Oak?" Kairi asked.
"Yes, what can I do for you, my dear?" Professor Oak asked.
"My name is Kairi, and I was wondering if it's too late for me to be a Pokémon Trainer, like Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Not at all, Kairi. All you need is your very own Pokémon to get started," Professor Oak said.
"She has an Eevee," Yuta said. "Anyway, my name is Yuta, and this is my wife, Mirei. She decided she wants to be a Pokémon Trainer, too," Yuta said.
"I see. Well, I have to say, it's good to know that the world of Pokémon is a tempting place. So many possibilities to be discovered. I think I accommodate you with Pokéballs, a Pokédex, and a Pokémon Box of your own. And I can have delivered to you tomorrow if that's acceptable," Professor Oak said.
"That works out for us well, professor," Kairi said.
"Wonderful," Professor Oak said. The doorbell rings. "Ooh, I have to get that. It's gotta be the pizza I ordered online. A wonderful app, isn't it? Anyway, I'll get everything set up for you while I eat, Kairi. Until then, take care." He dashed off to answer the door. "Mmm, anchovy, spinach and pineapple pizza, my favorite." This made Sora's face green, imagining anchovies, spinach and pineapple on a pizza. He hung up.
The bell indicated that Pikachu and Angel are well. The Chansey strolled the two Pokémon out. They're sleeping.
"How are they?" Sora asked.
"Your Pikachu and Eevee have made a full recovery, but they will need to rest for the night," Nurse Joy said.
"That's good," Kairi said.
"It'll be best if the both of you stayed here for the night. It'll be good for them," Nurse Joy said.
"Thanks," they both said at once before they blushed. Sora scratching the back of his head while Kairi giggled. Then an alarms goes off.
"Your attention please!" Officer Jenny spoke over the speakers. "The Viridian City radar sensors have detected an aircraft belonging to a gang of Pokémon thieves! If you have a Pokémon in your possession, exercise extreme caution!"
The same hot air balloon is seen hovering over the Pokémon Center, with Jessie, James, and Meowth preparing to launch their attack.
"It looks like we've been spotted," James said.
"Carry on as planned," Jessie said.
"Roger," James said.
They each took out a Pokéball and dropped them from the balloon and straight down. The Pokéballs breaks through the glass and opens as soon as they hit the ground. Two Pokémon emerged from inside.
One of them is a purple snake-like Pokémon with purple and yellow coloring. Its underside leading to its tail is yellow, and it has a yellow rattle at the tip of its tail. Ekans have large, yellow eyes with slit, reptilian pupils. Across its neck is a large, yellow band. This Pokémon is Ekans.
"Ekansssss" Ekans hissed.
The other is a purple spherical Pokémon filled with toxic gases. It has vacant eyes and a wide mouth that has two pointed teeth in the upper jaw. Below its face is a cream-colored skull-and-crossbones marking. This Pokémon is Koffing.
"Koffing!" Koffing said.
Koffing releases a mustard-colored gas from its body, covering the whole lobby.
"Cover your mouths! Don't breathe the smoke!" Yuta said, covering his mouth.
What's going on?!" Sora exclaimed. "Who are you guys?!"
"We'll be glad to answer that, little boy," the woman said.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves," the man finished. The two people give their motto as the smoke clears.
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
Meowth jumps in the scene and finishes this off.
"Meowth! That's right!"
"Did that Meowth just talk?!" Sora exclaimed in disbelief, pointing his finger.
"Hey, it's rude to point, you know!" Meowth said.
"Seriously, who are you?" Sora asked.
"Judging by their uniforms, they have to be from Team Rocket. A criminal organization that steals Pokémon from Pokémon Trainers. They make money off of rare Pokémon," Yuta said.
"You guys are thieves?" Sora asked.
"And proud to be thieves!" James said.
"So, we're going to swipe every Pokémon in the entire Pokémon Center," Jessie said.
"I'm not letting any of you get away with this," Sora said.
"How cute the boy thinks he's a hero," Jessie mocked.
"Brave or dumb," James shared her opinion.
"I vote for dumb!" Meowth said.
"Koffing! Tackle!" James ordered.
"Ekans! Use Bite!" Ekans and Koffing lunged at the trio pushing the stretcher as they started to run. The two poisonous Pokémon destroy the front desk missing their intended targets biting a few wires. They continued their pursuit only to lose pursuit but they kept looking.
They hid in the Pokéball storage room. The lights goes out.
"Now what?" Sora asked.
"They must have cut the power," Nurse Joy explained. "But luckily for us, our backup generator will kick right in now." The lights comes back on.
"We have got to get the Pokémon out of here," Sora said. "If only we could just get out without them seeing us."
"We can from in here," Nurse Joy said. She went to the nearby computer and turned it on. She makes contact with the Pokémon Center in Pewter City. "This is the Viridian City Pokémon Center! We have an emergency situation! Transporting Pokéballs!"
A feminine voice similar to Nurse Joy's is heard on the computer, "This is the Pewter City Pokémon Center! We are ready to recieve Pokéballs. Activating transportation sequences now!" The Pokéballs teleported one at a time. They kept them coming until smoke seeped through the door before Ekans and Koffing breaks down the door. Koffing smacks the counters causing the Pokéballs to fall off the counters and on the floor.
"Grab those Pokéballs!" Yuta said.
"So this is where you've hiding," Jessie said.
"You're too late, because some of the Pokéballs have been teleported out of here," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and held it tight. "And you three are toast!"
"You think you can beat us? You're even stupider than you look," James said.
"Okay, Pidgey! Go!" Sora called out. Pidgey came right out of its Pokéball. Ekans glares at Pidgey making it scared and flies off. Sora calls Pidgey back and grabs another one.
"Did you think that pathetic little Pokémon could beat us?" Jessie asked sarcastically as she snickered. Sora took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn, Rattata!" Sora called out. Rattata prepares for to fight as it to is intimidated by the snake Pokémon before it. Sora pulls that one back as well. Sora wasn't going to back away just because a few mishaps. Jessie and James laugh, casuing Sora's blood to boil.
"Throw whatever Pokémon you want at us," Jessie said.
"None of those weaklings can beat us," James said.
"Try me out for size," Mirei said, taking out a Pokéball. "Go!" The Pokéball opened and revealed a fishlike Pokémon with large, heavy reddish-orange scales. It has large, vacant eyes and pink lips. Its pectoral and tail fins are white. On its back is a stiff, three-peaked yellow fin, resembling a crown; there is an identical fin on its underside. This Pokémon is known as Magikarp. Magikarp just splashed around.
"Karp, karp, karp, karp," Magikarp said, splashing around.
"Oops, I forgot Magikarp can't do anything but splash around," Mirei said.
"You have got to do a whole lot better than that, you old hag," Jessie said. Kairi didn't like how Jessie insulted her mother.
"Don't you talk to my mom like that, you old witch!" Kairi snapped at Jessie. This made Jessie angry as a cross- or Y-shaped intersection of veins appeared on her forehead.
"What did you just say to me?" Jessie asked, getting angry at what Kairi called her. Sora then got an idea.
"She said you're an old witch," Sora said. "And she's right, you are." This got Jessie even angrier. "Also, those are the cheesiest outfits that I had ever seen," Sora commented causing more veins to buldge on their heads.
"What?" James growled.
"And who are you? The fashion police?!" Jessie asked making her anger grow. "What about YOUR clothes, hm?"
"I like my attire just fine thank you very much," Sora answered. "I mean don't tell me you two still go trick or treating at your age! I mean those are outfits? They're more like Halloween costumes." Sora laughed causing their anger to grow more. "And and look at you," Sora pointed to Jessie. Jessie grew more angrier and angrier when Sora started to chuckle mockingly. "I mean, what's with the hair?" Sora chuckled at the woman's hair. Yuta saw what Sora was doing.
"And what about your hair you spikey-haired runt?" Jessie countered back.
"My hair is just fine," Sora admitted. "But your hair looks like that you've been standing in front of the world's largest blow dryer!" Sora laughed again. Jessie's face started to turn red and she started to grit her teeth. Her eyes started to burn with the fire of anger. Meowth just covered his mouth trying to hold his laughter at each of Sora's jokes.
"Also, what kind of name is Team Rocket, anyway?" Sora joked making fun of the organization. "That sounds more like a lame idea for a sports team or a name for a geeky science club." Sora started laughing right at the two adults, Jessie especially who just reached her limit.
"HOW DARE YOU!" Jessie roared. YOU'LL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE YOU LITTLE INGRATE! EKANS! KOFFING! MEOWTH! GET THAT TWERP!"
Sora went for Pikachu's stretcher.
"Catch me if you can!" Sora mocked while he was running. Ekans, Koffing, Jessie, James, and Meowth started chasing after him. Yuta just laughed.
"I'm actually liking that kid a whole lot more," Yuta said, laughing some more.
Sora kept on running as Jessie, James, Meowth, Ekans and Koffing gave chase. He came to a screeching halt. The sudden stop wakes up Pikachu. He looked at what is going on. Team Rocket had caught up with him at him.
"You got nowhere to run, twerp," James said.
"Nobody disrespects Team Rocket and walks," Jessie said. Sora thought of summoning his Keyblade, but he couldn't risk putting Pikachu at risk, or hurt the Pokémon with it. Pikachu then got up and stood in front of Sora.
"Pikachu, what are you doing?" Sora asked.
"Pika, Pika, Pikachu," Pikachu said. He turned to Team Rocket.
"You think you can take us all on your own, you yellow runt? Don't make me laugh," Jessie said, laughing mockingly. Electricity emits from his cheeks. "Ekans! Use Wrap!"
"Koffing! Tackle!" James ordered.
Ekans and Koffing came for Pikachu, but he fought back, giving Ekans and Koffing a shock of a lifetime. Jessie, James, and Meowth ends up being shocked as well. Kairi, Angel, Kairi's parents, and Nurse Joy came and watched with awe. This wakes up Angel and her cheeks turned pink as she watched the Mouse Pokémon shock the two people and three Pokémon. Pikachu kept on shocking them until Officer Jenny arrived by motorcycle. She grinned.
"So, Team Rocket. It looks like it's my lucky night," Officer Jenny said, taking out a pair of handcuffs. Team Rocket looked right at the policewoman. "You are under arrest for Pokémon theft." Team Rocket suddenly got up and ran.
"Not if we have anything to say about it!" James said.
"Bye!" Jessie added.
"Team Rocket's blasting off!" Team Rocket shouted.
"Come back here! Stop in the name of the law!" Officer Jenny shouted after them. Sora bent down to Pikachu.
"You okay, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika, Pi!" Pikachu said, climbing up on his shoulders. Sora chuckled.
"That was an awesome Thunder Shock. From now on, we'll be an unbeatable team. What do you say?" Sora asked. Pikachu smiled.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Kairi, Angel, Yuta, and Mirei watched on as both Trainer and Pokémon bond with each other.
Out in the streets, somehow, Team Rocket has lost Officer Jenny and they panted.
"Who would have thought one Pikachu had so much power?" James asked as he panted.
"That is no ordinary Pikachu, that I can tell you," Meowth panted.
"The perfect Pokémon for the boss!" Jessie said. James and Meowth looked at her.
"What do you mean, Jessie?" Meowth asked.
"Yeah, fill us in," James added.
"Use your heads, you fools. We were hit with the most powerful Electric-type move ever, and so that makes that Pikachu the perfect Pokémon for Team Rocket. The boss will have to appreciate us when we present it to him, and not only he will give us a raise, but a kickass promotion! Possibly to agents, executives, or vice presidents of Team Rocket!" Jessie said. James and Meowth grinned.
"Yeah, I can be back on the boss's lap again!" Meowth said, laughing. James stroked his chin.
"Wait, wouldn't one of us be vice president since there could be only one?" James asked.
"Who cares? Pikachu will be ours!" Jessie said.
"You're right," James said.
"We should head back to the balloon and make plans!" Jessie said.
"In case you haven't been catching up with current events, we left the balloon behind, remember? Also, the cops would have deflated it and took it with them," Meowth said.
"Then, we'll have to wing it!" Jessie said. "Let's go!" Team Rocket dashed off.
Meanwhile, Sora and Pikachu were invited to Kairi's house for the night. Sora got to join his family for dinner. Even though it was late, it didn't matter since his mom told him to eat before he slept, but he had to be careful not to eat too much or he'd get nightmares. Mirei and Kairi has made some spaghetti. Sora ate the spaghetti and he found it to his liking.
"You must be really hungry, Sora," Mirei said.
"This is really tasty. Just like when my mom makes it," Sora said.
"Thank you, Sora. Kairi insisted on helping. She made the sauce," Mirei said.
"The best I have ever tasted," Sora said. This made Kairi smile.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, Sora," Kairi said. Kairi was glad that she learned the way to win a man's heart is through his stomach.
"Kairi sure has a talent. I don't mean to brag, but I can make a mean beef and potato stew," Yuta said.
"It's true. My dad is quite a cook himself," Kairi said.
"Now, Sora. You said it's just you, your mother, and your sister. What about your father?" Mirei asked. Sora sighed sadly and placed his hand on his necklace.
"I never knew him," Sora said. Kairi and her parents looked at him.
"Never knew him? What do you mean?" Yuta asked.
"The thing is, my dad was killed in a car accident just when my mom was just six months pregnant with me and my sister. Ever since then, it has been just the three of us. We were told about him though. We seen their wedding pictures and saw their wedding video," Sora said. Kairi felt sorry for Sora. Someone not knowing their own parent wasn't right nor fair to her.
"I'm sorry to bring up such a painful question," Mirei said.
"Don't worry about it. I figured I was going to be asked that question at some point," Sora said.
"Sora, might I ask about your necklace?" Kairi asked. This peeked her parent's interest.
"I was curious about it, too," Mirei said.
"This necklace is a symbol of knighthood," Sora said.
"Knighthood?" Kairi and Mirei asked.
"As in an actual knight, Sora?" Yuta asked.
"Yeah. I came from a long line of knights in the old days. The boys in the family all wore one of these. The people often saw them as knights as well when they wear them," Sora explained.
"I see," Mirei said. She saw Sora as her knight in shining armor all right. Not only he saved her daughter and fought off the Heartless, but he also helped the Pokémon from their would-be captors.
"But no one really believes that stuff anymore," Sora said.
"Actually, I do, Sora," Kairi said. Sora looked at her. "You held the Keyblade like a sword and fought those Heartless, you saved me from those Pokémon Hunters, and you saved all those Pokémon from Team Rocket, so you're definitely a knight in my book."
"I agree with her," Mirei said. "You're a brave boy. Most parents would be scared for their children having to fight monsters, but you faced those awful creatures. You're a hero," Mirei said. That made Sora blush.
"Now, now, no more of this hero talk. Let's keep eating before our spaghetti gets cold," Yuta said.
"Right," Sora, Kairi, and Mirei all said. Mirei and Kairi giggled as it made Sora sound like he was part of the family.
After dinner, Sora washed up and dressed in some guest pajamas. Just when he was about to head for bed, Yuta steps out.
"Sora, you mind if I have a word with you?" Yuta asked.
"Not really," Sora said.
"Sora, I thought I might give you this bit of information about the Heartless and your Keyblade," Yuta said. Sora was curious about he was about to say. "The Heartless comes in two types. There's the Pure Blood and the Emblem Heartless. Pure Blood are Heartless that are produced naturally by the darkness present in hearts. Emblem Heartless all bare an emblem. That means, you will be meeting different kinds of Heartless coming in different shapes and sizes, and each will have their own power. And as for your Keyblade, you will be able to use different abilities."
"Different abilities?" Sora asked.
"Yes. There are skills and attacks you can learn when you are in combat with the Heartless, also you will be able to cast magic as well. Just you know, there are some Heartless who will have a resistance to a certain magic like a Pokémon has a resistance to a certain type," Yuta explained.
"When you said I can use magic, does that mean, I can make things float?" Sora asked.
"No, you can use magic such as fire. I suggest you practice that outside, and when it's bright out," Yuta said.
"I think I'll take your word for it," Sora said.
"That's all I can tell you. Just be careful when using it, and try not to cause any trouble," Yuta said.
"Don't worry. I promise I won't abuse the Keyblade," Sora said.
"You seem like a good kid, so I can take your word for it. Now, head for bed, and get some shut eye. You're going to want to get up early to enjoy my wife's breakfast," Yuta said.
Not needing to be told twice, Sora gets into the guest room and falls right to sleep.
On the very next morning, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel got up, ate breakfast, and headed out to the Pokémon Center once they have gotten cleaned up and dressed.
They didn't wait long as Karen walked down the streets. With her is a slim young girl with fair skin and long blonde hair that she holds back with a green headband. She wore an extremely modest outfit that consists of a white short-sleeved blouse, a very long green dress that almost reaches her shins, long white socks, and green shoes.
"Karen, hey!" Sora greeted his sister before she ran to hug him. She squeezed him tight. "Karen, can't breathe!"
"I just miss you, big brother!" Karen said. She lets go of him as the other girl smiled.
"Hey, Daisy," Sora greeted.
"Hello, Sora. I'm happy to see you," Daisy said.
"Here's what mom forgot to give you," Karen said, taking out a smartphone. "Mom thought it would be a good idea if you kept one with you."
"Thanks," Sora said, taking the phone.
Karen and Daisy looked at Kairi.
"You must be Kairi," Daisy said.
"Yes, but who are you?" Kairi asked.
"Kairi, meet Daisy Oak. She's Professor Oak's granddaughter. And the girl is my twin sister, Karen," Sora said. "Karen, Daisy, this is Kairi, but you already know that, Daisy. And this is Angel, her Eevee." They looked and saw the Eevee.
"Oh, how cute," Karen said.
"Hello," Kairi greeted.
"Hello yourself, Kairi. Grandfather wanted me to deliver this to you since his regular staff are all unavailable. Here," Daisy said, taking out some Pokéballs, a Pokédex, and a Pokémon Box. "Your own Pokéballs to contain the Pokémon you caught, a Pokédex to give you information whenever you need it, and a Pokémon Box."
"What does it do?" Kairi asked.
"Grandpa said your Pokémon Box should be your way to exchange Pokémon whenever you want when you have six in your team. You can either choose to send the Pokémon to the lab, or you can keep it by exchanging one of the others," Daisy explained.
"That sounds easy enough," Kairi said.
"Yeah, this journey is gonna be worth it when we travel together," Sora said.
"Together?" Karen asked. She looked between them and grinned. "Oh, I get it. You make a nice couple." Sora and Kairi blushed.
"Cut it out, Karen! It's nothing like that!" Sora said.
"Why are you blushing?" Karen teased. "Sora's got a girlfriend! Sora's got a girlfriend!"
"That's enough, Karen. You shouldn't tease your brother like that," Daisy said. "Good luck in your journey, you two."
"Thanks, Daisy," Sora said.
"Tell your grandpa I said thanks," Kairi said.
"I'll be sure to do that," Daisy said. "Before you go, you mind if I talked to Sora?"
"Not at all," Kairi said. Daisy took Sora by the shoulder and walked. "Sora, I have to say, she's really pretty."
"I'll say," Sora said.
"I always said you would be very handsome, Sora," Daisy said. Sora blushed. "And I want to say, you and her look cute together." Sora blushed even redder. Daisy giggled.
"I know you just met, but I wanted you to know what I think," Daisy said.
"I appreciate it, Daisy," Sora said. "Be sure to be nice to her, okay?"
"I will, Daisy," Sora said. Both Sora and Daisy hugged each other.
The two girls walked back to Pallet Town as Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel headed for Kairi's house.
"Ooh, mom is gonna bust a button when I tell her Sora has a girlfriend," Karen said in her thoughts. She giggled to herself.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made it to the house with Kairi's parents waiting for them.
"Sora, Kairi, I just wanted to say, good luck out there on your way," Yuta said.
"We hope you have a grand adventure," Mirei said.
"We hope so, too, mom," Mirei said.
"And Sora, there's one more thing I want to tell you before I forget. There's going to be a tournament going on known as the Pokémon League. You can register for that if you're interested. If you are, I suggest you do it now before you forget," Yuta said.
"That sounds like fun. Why not?" Sora asked.
"Kairi, I have packed you some supplies. Be sure to contact us," Mirei said.
"I will, mom, dad," Kairi said. "And thank you for letting me do this."
"You're welcome," Mirei said. "And one more thing I want to give you, Sora."
"Yeah?" Sora asked. Mirei gave Sora a kiss on the forehead. Sora blushed. "Aw."
"Thank you again," Mirei said.
"Take care and be careful," Yuta said.
"And be sure to catch some cute Pokémon, Kairi," Mirei said.
"I will. Bye, mom! Bye, dad! Love you both!" Kairi said.
"Love you, too," Yuta and Mirei said at once.
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made a stop for the Pokémon Center to register for the Pokémon League.
"Hello, Sora. Back so soon?" Nurse Joy asked.
"We're making one last stop before we go. I was told I could register for the Pokémon League, is that right?" Sora asked.
"Yes," Nurse Joy answered. "Are you both registering?"
"I'm not going to, but if he is, then he should," Kairi said.
"Very well. May I see your Pokédex, please?" Nurse Joy asked. Sora hands the nurse his Pokédex and it took a few seconds to register Sora in. "Congratulations, you now qualify to participate in the Pokémon League."
"Great. What do I have to do?" Sora asked.
"To enter the tournament, you must go through the entire Kanto region, and challenge the Pokémon Gyms in the cities and towns and win. And if you win, you will be rewarded a Gym Badge as proof of your victory at the Gym. You must have a total of 8 Gym Badges. Each Gym will be using a specific type of Pokémon," Nurse Joy explained.
"Wow, sounds hard," Sora said.
"It is, but given time, you can accomplish so much. Currently, the Viridian City Gym is closed at the moment, but the nearest Gym is in Pewter City," Nurse Joy said.
"Pewter City, got it," Sora said.
"To get there, you two will have to venture through the Viridian Forest. You might find some more Pokémon to catch. Good luck, Sora, Kairi. And take care," Nurse Joy said.
"Thank you," Sora said.
"We'll see you soon," Kairi said.
And so begins the long and difficult journey of being a Pokémon Trainer. Sora and Kairi along with Pikachu and Angel, they will all sorts of adventures and/or misadventures together. They will meet all sorts of Pokémon, and meet all kinds of people. And their first step begins in the Viridian Forest.
In response to a review about their Pokémon being the same in my other fic, I will say yes and no. Most of it will be the same, but I might switch them around. And I'm not saying who is it going to be. So, enjoy. And to respond to guest: dazzle, I have to say, it seemed like a good idea. Also, I might work between this and the other, so don't be disappointed. Anyway, that will be all for now. Until then...
