Episode 7: Misty the Tomboyish Mermaid
On the very next morning, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel makes their way down the mountain and continued on to Cerulean City.
"Hey, Kairi, you have any idea which type is used in the Cerulean City Gym?" Sora asked.
"If I have to guess, the Gym Leader specializes with Water-type Pokémon, so it looks like you'll be using Pikachu and Bellsprout again," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"You're right. Grass and Electric-type Pokémon has the edge over Water-type Pokémon. Also, Paras is a Grass-type, too," Sora pointed out.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Sora and Kairi made it to the Pokémon Center in Cerulean City. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel along with the other ten Pokémon had their dinner after being treated by the local Nurse Joy (which happens to the Pewter City's second cousin twice removed). Sora wondered if all the Nurses were named Joy.
Later that night, a woman in her twenties is walking down the street. With her is a small, quadrupedal, fox-like Pokémon. It has a red-brown pelt with a cream-colored underbelly. It has brown eyes, large, pointed ears with dark brown insides, and a triangular dark brown nose. Its paws are slightly darker than the rest of its pelt and have light brown paw pads. On top of its head are three curled locks of orange fur with bangs, and it has orange tails with curled tips. It six tails. The Pokémon is tied with a harnest so that it wouldn't go running off. Unknown to her, a trio of young men dressed in Chinese-style clothes came out the shadows watching the woman and her Pokémon walk by. One was tall and lanky, one was fat, and the third was short.
"Hey look!" the tall one pointed.
"A lady walking her Vulpix," the fat one said.
"Let's have some fun, guys," the short one said. "Soon all of Cerulean City will know and fear the Invincible Pokémon Brothers!" They chuckled.
On the very next morning, Sora woke up with a yawn from the bottom bunk. He sees Kairi and Angel sleeping soundly.
"Kairi sure looks cute when she's asleep," Sora whispered. He turned to his partner and shushed. Pikachu nodded and they stepped out. As soon as they did, the Pokémon Center was packed as many Pokémon were being treated for their injuries. Sora walked up to one Trainer. "What happened?"
"Some three little punks just attacked my Pokémon for no good reason!" The Trainer said.
"Man, what kind of Trainer would do something this low and rotten?" Sora asked. He accidentally bumped into someone, which happens to be Officer Jenny.
"Eyes in front," Officer Jenny said.
"Huh? Officer Jenny?" Sora asked.
"That's what everyone else calls me," Officer Jenny said.
"I met you back in Viridian City," Sora said.
"Viridian City? Oh, you must have met my little sister there," Officer Jenny said.
"Little sister?" Sora asked.
"Yes, I have a photo of us," Officer Jenny said, taking out a photo and shows it to Sora. She points to one. "That's my little sister, and that one there is me" She points to another.
"First Nurse Joys, Officer Jennys. Just what's going on here?" Sora asked.
"Just some punk kids calling themselves 'the Invincible Pokémon Brothers'," Officer Jenny said.
"Yes. They're three troublemakers who goes around, causing trouble for anyone for any reason. They each have a Fighting-type Pokémon. One being a Hitmonchan, one being a Hitmonlee, and one being a Hitmontop. They were given multiple warnings about it, but they never clean up their act. And this is the final straw that broke the Camerupt's back. I warned them that I will lock them up and throw away the key if they didn't stop what they were doing," Officer Jenny said.
"How long have they been doing this?" Sora asked.
"The last couple of weeks. When I find them, they're going to wish they took me seriously," Officer Jenny said.
Just then, Kairi and Angel came out and sees what's going on.
"Sora, what's happening?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"Some punks going around picking fights just for fun," Sora said. Just thinking of someone using Pokémon just to assault someone else's Pokémon was enough to make his blood boil.
Stepping inside is a girl with short, red hair tied into a side ponytail with blue elastic rubber band. She has green eyes and fair skin. She wore a yellow tank top that reveals her midriff, red suspenders, denim shorts that stop at her thighs and red high top sneakers with yellow lining and white laces. She appears to be the same age as Sora and Kairi. She spots Kairi's Eevee and ran towards her and picked her up.
"Oh, what a cute little Eevee!" The girl said.
"Excuse me, but why are you holding my Eevee like that?" Kairi asked. She turned to Kairi.
"This little one's yours? Tell me, do you plan on having your Eevee evolve into a Vaporeon?" The girl asked.
"Um," Kairi could only say.
"Um, who are you?" Sora asked.
"Right. Sorry. My name's Misty, and I'm the Gym Leader of the Cerulean City Gym," Misty said. Sora and Kairi were both surprised by Misty's claim.
"Someone hit the pause button! You're the Gym Leader?" Sora asked.
"That's right. Is that really surprising?" Misty asked.
"Well, yeah, it is," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Aren't you kinda young to be one?" Kairi asked.
"People have often told that I'm too young, but no one ever said I have to be an adult to be a Gym Leader," Misty said.
"Um, okay," Sora said. He was really surprised to hear Misty being one. He did remembered Brock being one, but it didn't seem to phase him because of Brock's maturity. He had to take a big stab at what he came to Cerulean City for. "Say, Misty, just wondering if you would battle me at the Cerulean City Gym?" Misty looked at him.
"Are you collecting Gym Badges?" Misty asked.
"Yeah. And I just have one with me from the Pewter City Gym from Brock. So, we came all this way just over Mount Moon," Sora said.
"Pi, Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"If you won a Gym Badge from Pewter City, then you must be really good. I accept your challenge. What is your name?" Misty asked.
"Sora," Sora answered.
"Okay, Sora," Misty said. "I'll meet you at the Gym. I just need to get some special training done first."
With that said, Misty picked up her Pokéballs. Some were regular Pokéballs and some are a different kind of Pokéball. The entire ball is various shades blue except for the black horizontal band around the middle, and a white "cap" on the top of the ball in which the blue forms a gentle "wave" pattern around.
Sora decided to get some special training done himself, so he exchanged Zubat for Paras. Sora saw that Paras knew Scratch, Stun Spore, and Poison Powder, so he needed to learn at least one damaging Grass-type move. Sora trained Paras to learn Absorb. Pikachu and Bellsprout trained as well. They could only hope it would be enough.
After doing some special training, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel had started to head for the Cerulean City Gym.
Up ahead, the three young men from before were sitting in alley planning their next move.
"One wimp after another!" The short one kicked an empty can.
"Calm down, Kim," the tall one said.
"Kail is right," the fat one said. "We'll just have to head to the Pokémon Center and do something serious damage. It's full of weaklings."
"Not challenging enough, Kai," Kim said. "Also the cops are there. We need a real challenge! A challenge that is worthy of the Invincible Pokémon Brothers! A challenge that will grant us fame throughout the world! A challenge-"
"That's already coming this way," Kai cut Kim off. Kim went to Kai with Kail following. They spotted Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel across the street from them. They mostly looked at the Pikachu sitting on Sora's shoulder.
"A Pikachu and an Eevee," Kail said. "Along with those kids."
"Never seen those two before," Kai pointed out. "Where they come from?"
"Who cares? We're going to have some fun with this!" Kim said smiling evilly.
"Let's get 'em then," Kail said.
"Yeah!" Kai agreed.
"No," Kim said. Before the two could ask why not Kim answered, "Let's just follow them. And judging where those two are going, it'll leads us to even more fun."
Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made it to the Cerulean City Gym and stepped inside. When they got inside, they saw an empty lobby.
"Hello? Anybody here?" Sora asked.
"Pika, Pikachu?" Pikachu asked.
"Maybe we should go further inside," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"Good idea, Kairi," Sora said.
They did just that. They went even inside and saw it was some kind of event going on. What kind of event was it, they wondered. There is a bunch full of people spectating the event.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the announcer started. "Please welcome the stars of our show: Cerulean City's own synchronizing swim team: The Lovely Sensational Sisters!" Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Agel looked up to the diving board to see three young women within their late teens to early twenties, one having long blonde hair wearing a red bathing suit, another with long indigo hair wearing a green bathing suit, and the third with shoulder-length dark pink hair wearing a yellow swimsuit. The crowd cheered for the three girls when they roared their names as they waved to the crowd.
"Daisy! Violet! Lily!" The three girls jumped off the diving board with elegant grace as soon as the music starts. The crowd just how graceful they had swam. Sora was just plain confused, he couldn't tell if it was a gym or not. Kairi and Angel just stared at them with awe with her eyes sparkling like the sea. As they watched the performance she could have sworn that they were real mermaids. Kairi never seen such grace and beauty in all her life, and neither has Angel. When the music ends the performers waved.
A few minutes later, Sora, Kairi Pikachu, and Angel walked around looking for any signs of the Gym Leader, but no such luck.
"I don't see Misty anywhere. We should have found her by now," Sora said.
"She did say she has some special training to get done," Kairi said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Vee," Angel said.
Sora got wide eyed when he saw that there's also an aquarium right in the gym as well.
"Is this a Pokémon Gym or an aquarium?!" Sora asked him disbelief.
"We could just take a break and take a look around for a bit," Kairi said. "Please?"
Sora turned to Kairi and he saw her make a face that said I want to some sightseeing. Sora just didn't have it in his heart to refuse. So he sighed.
"Okay you win," Sora said caving in.
"Yay," Kairi beamed doing a small clap.
Sora and Kairi looked around in the aquarium just amazed not just the Pokémon inside the water tanks, but at the other sealife that came with it.
Just outside, Kim, Kail, and Kai had followed their potential victims to the Pokémon Gym.
"So that's where the kids with the Pikachu and Eevee went," Kai said.
"This has just gotten better," Kim said.
"We'll be the top dogs of Cerulean City!" Kail said.
"And soon. Top dogs of the world," Kim said.
"Invincible Pokémon Brothers! Attack!" they all shouted making their fighting poses. "HIYA!"
After four to five hours of exploring the aquarium, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel resumed with their search for Misty starting with the pool. By then, it was already empty.
"Well if we're gonna track down the Gym Leader, we might as well try the pool," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It's a good as place as any to look," Kairi said.
They looked around and spotted the three girls from before. The girls were patting themselves on the back for the performance they had displayed. They spoke as they were teenage stereotypes.
"I guess we should ask them," Sora said.
"Yeah," Kairi said.
They walked up to the three girls talking among themselves and Sora spoke up.
"Excuse me ladies," Sora spoke up. The girls turns to them. "I was-"
"I'm sorry," the pink-haired girl said sarcastically, "if you want an interview, you have to like call our manager."
"It's not that," Sora said. "I just wanted-"
"We don't do autographs," the indigo-haired girl said. Kairi felt disappointed with that one.
"Don't want one!" Sora said shaking his head.
"Then, what do want?" the blonde asked. "And make it good, we don't have all day."
"Well for starters," Sora began. "I was wondering if this is a Pokémon Gym."
"It sure is," the blonde replied.
"Well We're looking for the Gym Leader," Sora said. "Any idea where Misty is?"
"That's right," Kairi said.
"Pika," Pikachu nodded.
"Eevee," Angel added.
"Misty? You're looking for our little sister?" The blonde asked.
"Yeah, that's her," Sora said.
"And why would you be looking for her?" The pink haired girl asked.
"I'm here for a Gym battle with her," Sora said.
"How do we know you're not here to ask her out on a date?" The indigo haired girl asked. Sora's face flushed pink.
"No, it's not like that! We were told that Misty was going to meet her here, and have our Gym battle right here!" Sora said.
"Oh, that. Misty isn't even here right now, but if you're not here to date her, then we know what you want then," the blonde said. She clapped her hands. "Seel!" Just then, a Pokémon emerged from the water. It's a chubby pinniped Pokémon with a thick, fatty hide covered in bluish white fur. It has a pale tan maw with a large red tongue and a pair of tusks on its lower jaw. It has circular eyes and a black nose. There is a small horn on its forehead, which it uses in combination with its tusks. It has two flippers on its chest, and two more on the end of its tail. When the tail is raised, it resembles a waterspout. It stuck out its tongue. On its tongue is a badge that is in the shape of a light blue raindrop. "The Cascade Badge. That's what you want, right?"
"Not like this. I'll need to earn my Badges," Sora said.
"Take it. A Badge is a Badge," the blonde said.
Sora wasn't sure if he should. Before he could make up his mind, a loud voice shouted out.
"STOP RIGHT THERE!" A familiar female voice called out. They all turned to see Misty standing on the bleachers.
"MISTY!" Sora and Kairi exclaimed.
"Cha!" Pikachu chirped.
Misty jumped off the bleachers and glared at her.
"I knew I couldn't trust you to be in charge, Daisy!" Misty said angrily.
"What the heck, Misty? Why the sudden tude?" The blonde asked.
"Because you were about to give out Badges like it was a free sample! The only way he's going to have that Badge is when he beats me in a battle!" Misty said.
"You're right, Misty. That's what I came here to do, and that's what I'm going to do," Sora said. "I would have turned it down and just waited for you."
"Seriously?!" Daisy asked in surprise. The other two shared her surprise.
"Yeah," Sora said.
"Oh, come on. It's a Gym Badge, so what's the big deal if we just give it away?" Lily asked. Misty sighed in frustration.
"This is exactly why she made me the Gym Leader and not one of you," Misty said. "The reason she never picked you is because I understand what being a Gym Leader is all about! The purpose of being a Gym Leader is to give the challengers a real challenge! That's what you never got! Besides, people are going think we're a joke if you just hand them out like that! And how will you face mom after that?"
"Ugh, you were always a mommy's girl. But she would chew me out for it though," Lily said. "Violet, Daisy, how about we just watch the match?"
"I'm game," Violet said.
"It should be fun to watch," Daisy said.
Unknown to the group, Kim, Kail and Kai were spying on them through the window. And they were grinning to what they had overheard.
"This kid just wants to earn a badge?" Kail laughed.
"Let's rush them now!" Kai said.
"Not yet," Kim said. "We strike after the battle!"
"Right!" Kail and Kai agreed.
The battle between Sora and Misty was underway. Kairi sat in the bleachers along with Violet, Lily, and Seel while Daisy acted as the referee for the battle.
"Alright, the battle for the Cascade Badge is about to begin! Sora of the Town of Pallet has challenged Misty the Cerulean City Gym Leader to a battle. Both Trainers have agreed to use three Pokémon each! But only the challenger will be allowed to make substitutions! The battle is over if all three of either Pokémon are unable to battle! Choose your Pokémon and start battling!" Daisy announced. Misty took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Misty calls! Goldeen!" Misty shouted. Her Pokéball opened and her first Pokémon is a fish-like Pokémon, with long, billowing fins. It is colored orange and white. It also has a horn on its forehead. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Paras!" Sora called out. Paras emerged from inside. Paras stood his ground. Misty flinched when she saw Paras.
"A Bug-type? He has a Bug-type?" Misty shivered.
"What's wrong with your sister?" Kairi asked.
"Misty's afraid of Bug-type Pokémon," Lily said.
"She's had that phobia ever since she was little," Violet added.
"Misty, you okay out there?" Sora asked. Misty regained her posture.
"I gotta focus. No matter what it is, I have to keep my cool," Misty said. Sora looked at Misty's Goldeen and took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokémon
Type: Water
Its dorsal and pectoral fins are strongly developed like muscles. It can swim at a speed of five knots.
"Okay, I'm up against an opponent who can only swim, so this is a whole new playing field. I just have to make the best of it anyway I can. Paras! Use Stun Spore!" Sora ordered. Paras starts shaking his mushrooms, and Stun Spore sprinkles out.
"Dodge it by diving underwater!" Misty called out. Goldeen dove in the water and swam towards the platform Paras is standing. Goldeen jumped right out. "Use Peck!" Goldeen uses its horn and pecked at Paras, dealing some heavy damage.
"Paras! Use Scratch!" Sora ordered. Paras came running at Goldeen in an attempt to do some damage, but misses when Goldeen sank in the water. Goldeen came back up from the other side and right behind Paras. "Behind you!" Paras turned and saw Goldeen.
"Peck again!" Misty ordered. Goldeen lands another peck on the Mushroom Pokémon.
"Use Poison Powder!" Sora ordered. Paras shook his mushrooms again, and a sprinkling purple powder. It struck Goldeen as purple bubbles comes out of its body.
"Oh no! Goldeen's been poisoned!" Misty gasped. "Even with the water's help, the water won't wash off the poisoning, and it wouldn't wash off the paralysis if that Stun Spore was successful." Sora took out Paras's Pokéball.
"Take five for right now, Paras!" Sora said, calling back Paras. Sora turned to Pikachu. "Your turn, Pikachu!"
"Pika!" Pikachu said, nodding. He stepped in the battlefield.
"Goldeen! Use Horn Attack!" Misty ordered. Goldeen came charging at Pikachu with its horn extending a little longer.
"Use Thunder Shock!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunder Shock, landing an electrifying hit. Goldeen has been taken down.
"Goldeen is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" Daisy announced.
"Looks like Misty's lost one," Lily said.
"Does that surprise you?" Violet asked.
"It kinda does. It's Misty that usually has the edge from the start," Lily said. Misty called back Goldeen and she smiled.
"Get some rest, Goldeen. You deserve it," Misty said. She took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Not bad, Sora, but we're just getting started! Misty calls Staryu!" The Pokéball opened. Her second Pokémon a golden-brown, starfish-like Pokémon with five appendages. In the middle is a golden metal casing with a red gem in the center, which is held in place by a golden ring looped around its lower left point. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon
Type: Water
If Staryu's body is damaged, it will regenerate as long as the red core remains. The core flashes at midnight.
"Okay, Staryu can battle on both land and water, so it might be much harder than I think it is. Pikachu, you take it easy for now," Sora said. Pikachu returned to his side. Sora took out Paras's Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Paras! Back to action!" Paras came back out. "Use Stun Spore!"
"Dodge it by jumping in the water!" Misty called out. Staryu does jump in the water, knowing Paras cannot swim. "Use Rapid Spin!" Staryu spins around and tackled Paras. "Use Psywave!" Staryu fires a beam of multicolored energy from its core and struck Paras. The it results in a knockout.
"Paras is unable to battle! Staryu wins!" Daisy announced.
"Way to go, Staryu!" Misty said with praise. Sora called Paras.
"Good effort, Paras. I won't let it go to waste," Sora said. He thought of sending Pikachu back out, but he decided to go with Bellsprout again.
"You helped me out since the Pewter City Gym, so I know you'll do it again, Bellsprout!" Sora called out. Bellsprout emerged from inside and readied himself.
"Bellsprout is a Poison-type Pokémon, so Staryu! Psywave!" Misty ordered. Staryu sends out Psywave to hit Bellsprout.
"Dodge and use Vine Whip!" Sora ordered. Bellsprout dodged and extends his vines, striking Staryu.
"Rapid Spin!" Misty ordered. Staryu spins right at the Flower Pokémon like before.
"Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Bellsprout dodged and creates light green, glowing leaves around his body and fires them at the Star Shape Pokémon. Staryu is struck hard. "Vine Whip!" Bellsprout lands another Vine Whip on Staryu, resulting in a knockout. Staryu's core starts blinking.
"Staryu is unable to battle! Bellsprout wins!" Daisy announced.
"I knew you could do it!" Sora said.
"Bell, Bell, Bellsprout, Bell!" Bellsprout said. Bellsprout then started to evolve, much to the amazement of Sora. Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were also at awe. Bellsprout has become a plant Pokémon. It lacks legs, so it hovers in the air. The head of He is yellow with three yellow-green spots on it. On the top of its head is a vine. It somewhat resembles a venus flytrap-like plant. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.
Weepinbell, the Flycatcher Pokémon
The evolved form of Bellsprout
Type: Grass/Poison
This Pokémon has the appearance of a plant. It captures unwary prey by dousing them with a toxic powder.
"All that training has paid off!" Sora said.
"Weepinbell!" Weepinbell beamed.
Misty called back Staryu and smiled.
"You did a great job, Staryu. You've earned a good long rest," Misty said. She took out her next Pokéball. "Okay, here's my strongest Pokémon! Misty calls Starmie!" Her Pokéball opened and out came a Pokémon that resembles two violet starfish with five appendages each. The front starfish has a golden formation in the center. In the center of the golden casing is its red jewel core, which can glow in seven colors and has developed to resemble a cut precious stone. The second starfish is semi-attached to the back of the first and can spin 360 degrees. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Starmie, the Mysterious Pokémon
The evolved form of Staryu
Type: Water/Psychic
The center section is named the core. People think it is communicating when it glows in seven colors.
"So Staryu's evolved form," Sora thought to himself. "That means Starmie is stronger than Staryu. I know that it won't be easy, but I have got to pull through. I have to."
Kairi and Angel watched closely to the battle, and they hoped for the best.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Weepinbell! Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Weepinbell fired Razor Leaf at Starmie.
"Okay, Starmie! Dodge and use Psywave!" Misty ordered. Starmie fired Psywave and struck Weepinbell, sending him flying. He lands right in the water and floats back up, knocked out.
"Weepinbell is unable to battle! Starmie wins!" Daisy announced. Sora called back Weepinbell and smiled.
"It's okay, Weepinbell. You still battled hard," Sora said. He looked at Pikachu. "Okay, this is our second chance to win a Gym Badge together, buddy."
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Go for it!" Sora said. Pikachu is sent back out to battle.
"Okay, Sora is using Pikachu again. Starmie! Use Bubble Beam!" Misty ordered.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dashed to dodge Starmie's Bubble Beam. "Use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed a much more powerful electric attack than Thunder Shock.
"Dodge it, Starmie!" Misty called out. Starmie dodged by jumping in the water. Starmie then leapt back out. "Use Psywave!"
"Not falling for that for a third time, Misty! Dodge!" Sora called out. Pikachu dodged Starmie's Psywave. Pikachu wobbles on the playform. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu jumped and heads towards the Mysterious Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Bubble Beam!" Misty ordered. Starmie dodged and shoots a stream of blue bubbles from its core. Pikachu is struck by the water attack. "Use Swift!" Starmie unleashed Swift and hits Pikachu relentlessly. "Way to go, Starmie!"
"Pikachu, you okay?" Sora asked. Pikachu got back up. Sora saw Pikachu has taken a lot of damage from those attacks. "Pikachu won't last much longer if this keeps up." Pikachu turned to his partner. Sora looked into his partner's eyes, saying he's not giving up. "If you're in it, then so am I. Pikachu! Get ready!"
"Let's end this fast. Use Bubble Beam!" Misty ordered. Starmie fired Bubble Beam right at the Mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Pikachu dodges Starmie's Bubble Beam.
"Nice, but not enough! Use Swift!" Misty ordered. Starmie fired Swift right at Pikachu. Sora then got an idea.
"Quick Attack! Make the stars chase you!" Sora ordered. Pikachu then started to run as fast as he could run. Misty was confused as was her sisters, Kairi, and Angel.
"What is he trying to do? He should know Swift can't be dodged," Misty said. Pikachu kept on running, and stopped in front of Starmie.
"Jump!" Sora called out. Pikachu jumped at the last minute and the stars explodes in contact with Starmie. Misty was shocked by what she had witnessed.
"What did he just do?!" Misty exclaimed.
"Use Thunderbolt to finish the job!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt again, shocking Starmie. The Mysterious Pokémon fell backwards in the water and its core blinks like Staryu's.
"Starmie is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! The winner of the battle is Sora!" Daisy announced.
"Yay! Two in a row!" Kairi cheered.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel also cheered.
Kim, Kail, and Kai watched the battle with interest. Even they were surprised by this.
"That kid is better than I thought," Kim said. "Let's show the winner a good time, boys!" Kim took out a Pokéball.
"Yeah!" Kail and Kai agreed, also taking out their Pokéballs.
Sora and Misty stood by pool and shook hands.
"That was a good battle," Sora said.
"It sure was," Misty said. "I've gotta admit that the way your Pikachu lead my Starmie's Swift against it wasn't something I'd expect. That took me completely by surprise."
"Thanks," Sora said. "And I gotta say, it takes a good Trainer to raise good Pokémon."
"That's true," Misty said. Daisy walked over to Misty and handed her the Cascade to Misty for her to give to Sora. "So I will grant you this Cascade Badge as proof of your victory at the Cerulean City Gym. Congratulations."
"Thanks Misty," Sora said as he took the badge.
Kairi was happy for Sora for winning his second badge. Before she could congratulate Sora, is a tan, humanoid Pokémon came and attempts to punch Pikachu. There are five blunt protrusions on top of its head, and it has structures resembling pads over its shoulders. It appears to be wearing a light purple tunic and kilt, as well as red boxing gloves and light purple boxing shoes. In-between the tunic and kilt is a small, black area. This Pokémon is Hitmonchan. Kairi gasped.
"Angel, watch out!" Kairi exclaimed. Angel dodged just by jumping. Angel turned to see two more Pokémon coming towards her. One of them is a humanoid Pokémon with an ovoid body. Lacking a distinct neck and head, its upper torso has almond-shaped eyes with black space around them and appears to lack a nose and mouth. Primarily brown, it has cream-colored, segmented arms and legs. Each hand has three fingers and each foot has three clawed toes. The soles of its feet and its ankles have circular, yellow pads. This Pokémon is Hitmonlee Another is is a vaguely humanoid Pokémon capable of spinning on its head. Its main body is spherical and mostly blue with a brown triangular patch on its chest. It has short legs with white bands near the hands and feet. The feet are large, blue, and have a circular brown pad on the underside. It has a skinny brown tail that ends with a blue sphere with a spike on it. Its head is round and brown with flat, curved extensions on either side and a single spike on top. It has beady, black eyes, and spherical hands with no digits. This one is Hitmontop. Angel jumped out of the way before they could launch their assault.
"A Hitmonchan, a Hitmonlee, and a Hitmontop," Misty recognized.
"Where did they come from?!" Sora asked.
"They came from us!" A male voice called out.
Kim, Kail, and Kai jumped into the scene doing their kungfu style poses.
"Who are you?" Sora asked getting angry. "And why are you attacking her Eevee?!"
"We're the Invincible Pokémon Brothers!" They all said at once.
"I am Pokémon Brother, Kim!"
I am Pokémon Brother, Kail!
And I am Pokémon Brother, Kai!"
"We make ourselves known! We will pick a fight with anyone and everyone! So you should fear us!" They all said at once.
"You're the ones that are attacking innocent Pokémon, aren't you?!" Kairi snarled at the newcomers.
"So what if we are?!" Kim asked arrogantly.
"I must say the way you use your Pokémon to attack others out of random is unforgivable!" Kairi said almost yelling.
"Well cry us a river!" Kim shot back. "We do whatever we want! And that's the message that we're gonna send. And that goes to that kid and his little, Pikachu, too!"
That got Sora even angrier. He didn't like how they had just openly admitted they would go around and terrorize someone's Pokémon and get away with it. Sora just stared at the three trainers with his eyes burning. Sora clutched his hand into a fist having enough of this.
"So you're just a trio of bullies," Sora said in an angry tone. They turned to look at him. Kairi, Misty and her sisters looked at Sora just his anger was raising up. Kairi had never seen Sora this angry. It scared her greatly because she was used to seeing him so cheerful. "You just go around beating up others just the bullies that you are. That makes you three cowards in my book!"
Kim, Kail, and Kai got offended by that remark.
"What did you call us?!" Kim asked getting angry.
"Cowards!" Sora simply answered.
"You little worm!" Kai snarled.
"Nobody calls the Invincible Pokémon Brothers cowards and gets away with it!" Kim shouted. "Nobody! Hitmonchan! Mega Punch!"
"Hitmonlee! Mega Kick!" Kail ordered.
"Hitmontop! Triple Kick!" Kai shouted.
The three Fighting-types charged at Pikachu and Angel with their attacks.
"Pikachu! Dodge!" Sora commanded. Pikachu obeyed as Pikachu moved just before the attacks could hit their mark. "Iron Tail!" Pikachu swung Iron Tail with so much strength hitting the three Pokémon sending them flying into the swimming pool. "Now, use Thunderbolt!"
"PIKACHU!" Pikachu's Electric attack shocked the "Invincible" Pokémon Brothers and their Pokémon making them scream in pain. They flew out of the pool and right into the bleachers all dazed from the electric charge.
It didn't take long before the Cerulean City police came and arrested the three brothers for their crime. Officer Jenny was reading them their rights.
"You have the right to remain silent, anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford one, an attorney will be appointed to you. You understand these rights as I read them to you," Officer Jenny told them.
"I guess we owe you one," Daisy said.
"Totally," Lily agreed.
"Not only you won your badge, but you saved the city's Pokémon from future attacks," Violet said.
"It was no big deal," Sora said as he put his hands behind his head.
"We're just glad we could help," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said. Kairi rubs Angel.
"And I'm glad that you're okay, Angel," Kairi said.
"Well if you're going to win your third badge, you should head to Vermillion City," Misty said. "And while you're down there you should check out the port there. It's very beautiful."
"Sure thing," Kairi nodded.
"We should be going," Sora said.
"Take care!" Sora and Kairi said as they took their leave. They waved goodbye to Misty and her sisters.
Misty watched as Sora, Kairi, and Pikachu leave.
"There's no shame in losing to you Sora," Misty said in her thoughts. "You're a really good Trainer. You have a heart that is as big as the ocean. I'm sure that's what Kairi loves about you. I know you and she would make a good couple."
Sora, Kairi, and Pikachu made a quick stop at the Pokémon Center to heal up Pikachu, Weepinbell, and Paras before they set off, and they promised to meet up with Leaf later.
And they did find her there along with Ash.
"Ash, Leaf!" Sora called out. Ash spots Sora and he smiled.
"Sora, Leaf did tell me you'd be here," Ash said. He turned to Kairi. "You must be Kairi. Leaf told me quite about you."
"Sora has told me about you, Ash," Kairi said, shaking his hand.
"I'm glad to have met you," Ash said. He turned to Sora. "So, Sora. Have you earned the Cascade Badge from Misty?"
"Yeah, we were just there," Sora said, showing Ash his Gym Badges.
"Say, did you hear about some attacks on random Pokémon?" Leaf asked.
"We know all about it, and we put a stop to it," Sora said.
"And I hope they get what's coming to them," Kairi said.
Over at the police station, Officer Jenny has spent the whole time yelling in their faces.
"I TRIED TO BE REASONABLE, BUT THERE IS NO REASONING WITH THE LIKES OF YOU! I HAVE WARNED YOU, AND THIS IS THE LAST STRAW! AND I TOLD YOU THAT WAS YOUR FINAL WARNING! NOW, YOU'RE GOING TO GET IT!" Officer Jenny yelled.
"Why not let us do what we want?" Kim asked.
"SHUT UP!" Officer Jenny yelled.
The Invincible Pokémon Brothers were looking in some serious jail time if they had not cleaned up their act, and they blamed Sora for it.
Later that night, Sora went right to bed. When he entered the room he and Kairi were staying in, he saw Kairi and Kairi asleep on the top bunk. She slept so soundly, she looked beautiful to him. He had a powerful urge to kiss her on the lips; just like in Sleeping Beauty, but he decided against it and dug into the covers of the bottom bunk. Pikachu was sound asleep. Sora slowly closed his eyes and started to drift off to sleep.
