Title: Rewrite the Stars

Chapter 10

***That Night***

(Sam is planning a romantic night with Jason. She couldn't wait for it to go in affect. She NEEDED this night with Jason. She truly did not feel as close with him as she used to be. She wanted that to change. Carly had previously told Sam it wasn't a good idea for this to happen. Sam didn't give a shit as Sam wanted it and that was that. Her parole officer was in the dark about it, so there was nothing stopping Sam from planning the rest of the night out)

(Sam wanted the night to be perfect, so she asked Monica to kindly watch Danny and Scout tonight. Monica graciously accepted, which Sam knew Monica would)

(All of a sudden, Sam's phone rings. She sighs deeply in annoyance when it showed Carly's number on the caller ID. Sam rolls her eyes and thought about avoiding the call. Sam knew Carly wouldn't give up, so Sam took the call)

Sam: "What do you want, Carly?"

Carly: "Are you still planning your romantic night with Jason?"

Sam: "Yeah, why?"

Carly: "You DO know that's a bad idea, right? Sam, you're just asking for trouble by doing this. What happens if Delores finds out about it? Not only is your already rocky relationship with Jason toast, but you'll be sent back to Statesville. Do you want that?"

Sam: (scoffs) "Of course not! But him and I need this. We're not as close as we used to be, Carly. I want to change that. It'll work. It has to."

Carly: "It has to, huh? And what happens when it not only doesn't work out, but your parole officer finds out what you're planning? Do you want to be away from your kids?" (scoffs) "Do you even care about them? It sounds like you care more about Jason than your own kids, Sam. It should be the other way around."

Sam: (huffs) "You bitch. Who do you think you are? You don't know a thing about me! Of course, I love my kids!"

Carly: (laughs incredulously) "I don't know a thing about you?! Of course, I do, Sam! I've known you for years! I'm starting to think I might know you better than Jason or you might know yourself. It helps when I keep a close eye on you. Face it, McCall. I know you too well."

(Sam rolls her eyes and loudly scoffs as she hangs up on the bitch. She couldn't take much more of the skank. She had to finish planning the perfect night with her man. It has to work. It just had to)

(Shortly after, there's a knock on the door. Sam smiles wildly as she rushes to answer the door. When she sees it's Jason, she chuckles as she wraps her arms around him. She embraces him and pecks him on the lips)

Sam: "Hey, you."

Jason: "Hi."

(Sam chuckles as she waves her hands around the living room dining room area. Jason has an uneasy look on his face)

Jason: "What's-What's all this?"

Sam: (grins) "I hope you like it. I did it for us. I wanted us to have a romantic night together. I think we really needed it, Jason. We haven't been together in so long. Hell, we haven't even had a date in a long time. I wanted to change that. Two for the price of one."

Jason: (sighs deeply) "Sam, you know that I can't be here. We can't risk it."

(Sam's happy smile quickly fades and she takes one last look at her masterpiece before facing Jason)

Sam: "But, I planned it for us. Jason, we haven't been together in so long." (shakes her head) "Because of that bitch, Delores, we can't be together or be seen together. How is that fair?"

Jason: "I know it's not fair, but there's nothing we can do. I need to leave, Sam, before anyone knows that I'm here."

Sam: (briefly raises her eyebrows) "Carly knows. But what difference does it make? Jason, you can't leave. We need to work on our relationship. If you leave, how will we be able to accomplish that?"

(Sam sighs sadly and briefly closes her eyes as they are flooded by a few tears)

Sam: "I feel like we're on the verge of a split. Am I wrong?"

(Jason places his hands on his hips and looks down for several seconds before wiping his face with his hands as he faces Sam)

Jason: "I will always care about you, Sam. That will never change. But no, I don't feel the same about you anymore."

(Sam just stares at her soon-to-be ex for what felt like forever before laughing hard. Causing him to look at her weirdly. Sam can't take it anymore! She yells at the top of her lungs before shouting at Jason)

Sam: "IT'S ABOUT LIZZIE, ISN'T IT?!"

(Jason gets pissed off at the way Sam talks about Elizabeth. He shakes his head and points at her in anger)

Jason: "Whether or not we break up has nothing to do with Elizabeth. And you know damn well she doesn't like to be called that. So why do you do it?"

Sam: (shrugs) "Why do you care what I call her, huh? You always take her side anyways. Saint Elizabeth can never do anything wrong in your eyes, Morgan. But me? Oh, you have no problem pointing out my errors."

Jason: "No one's perfect. We're all human. We can make mistakes. But, you? You have no problem pointing out Elizabeth's errors every chance you get, don't you, Sam? And Elizabeth? She just takes it. In the past, she has taken it. But no more. I've seen her fight back, which is what she should do. I've noticed over the years that she just takes it usually when someone points out her mistakes. Yet, she can't point out other people's mistakes. How is that fair?

Sam: (folds her arms) "I can't believe you're defending her."

Jason: "Why? Because I'm telling the truth? You always point out her misdeeds but yet when she points out yours, it's like hers are way worse."

Sam: (scoffs) "Yeah, because they are!"

Jason: (raises his eyebrows) "Do you really want to go down that road, Sam? I'll warn you. You won't like the end results."

Sam: (weird look) "What's that supposed to mean?"

(Jason folds his arms and tilts his head as he looks at Sam straight in the eyes, completely serious)

Jason: "I want to know why you faked calling a truce with Elizabeth."

(Before Sam has a chance to react or say anything, there's a knock at the front door. Sam quickly shakes her head at Jason and goes to the door, opens it, to see the parole officer. Sam is shocked to see the woman there)

Sam: "D-Delores? What-What are you doing here?"

(Delores walks inside the penthouse and faces Jason)

Delores: "I'm wondering why Jason is here."

(As Delores examines the living room and dining room, it's clear Sam hoped to have a romantic night with Jason. Delores shakes her head in disapproval)

Delores: (to Sam) "You DO know that this is against the rules, right, McCall? I should send you right back to Statesville."

Sam: (pouts) "What about my kids?"

(Delores raises her eyebrows and scoffs as she spoke)

Delores: "Did you think about them when you did this for Jason, McCall? I don't think so."

(Jason attempts to smooth the situation over a bit)

Jason: "I know things look bad right now, Delores. Sam and I realized that things were not working out. We tried to make it, but it wasn't happening. So, we decided we need to break up. We should have realized it a long time ago. We're just really sorry that it took us this long to figure it out. While we'll understand if there's consequences, we're hoping you'll give us or Sam a break because she doesn't deserve to be away from her kids."

(Delores studied Jason's facial expressions while he was talking and could tell he was genuine in his words. She wondered if she'd regret her next decision but decided it was the best for those involved. She looks at Sam and points at her straight in the face)

Delores: "I'm going against my better judgement here, Sam. Listen up. I'm giving you ONE more chance. THIS IS IT. You need to decide RIGHT HERE which is more important to you. Your freedom or your relationship with Jason that appears to be in jeopardy anyway. If I catch you two together again, I'll know my answer. Watch yourself, McCall. ONE MORE CHANCE. THIS IS ALL YOU GET."

(Delores leaves and Jason shuts the door behind her. The soon to be ex-lovers face each other)

Jason: "I will always care about you and be there for the kids, but we're done."

Sam: (smugly) "I can't help but wonder if this means you'll go back to HER."

(Jason shakes his head in disbelief that Sam seems to be obsessed with Elizabeth)

Jason: "For one thing, Elizabeth is married. Two, Elizabeth loves Franco. Three? Her and I never worked out no matter how many times we tried."

Sam: "That was years ago and things are different now. You hate Franco with a passion so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you warn Lizzie that her husband is a loose cannon."

(Jason shakes his head at the woman Sam has become and he can't believe it. He just realized that Sam never answered his question on the truce subject regarding Elizabeth. He folds his arms in expectancy as he was dreading it, but it needed to be discussed)

Jason: "You never answered my question. Granted, you weren't given a chance, so here's your chance now."

Sam: (not amused) "What now?"

Jason: "Why did you fake a truce with Elizabeth?"

Sam: (shakes her head) "Why do you care? You don't care about me anymore. You can go riding into the sunset with your precious Elizabeth now."

Jason: "I will always care for Elizabeth, just like I will always care about you."

(That was a lie and they both knew it but neither said the truth on the subject)

Sam: "What more do you want from me, Jason? Huh? You don't love me anymore. All you care about is HER." (narrows her eyes) "It's too bad that she's married to your worst enemy."

(Jason scoffs in disbelief as he shakes his head and walks out the door and slams it behind him. He had enough of Sam and her fucking lies. He knew he probably should have stayed and got a straight answer on why Sam declared a fake truce against Elizabeth. He figured Elizabeth would get her answer and then she'd tell him. Jason couldn't help but exhale a huge sigh of relief that he was finally done with McCall the bitch. McCall the liar. He learned the hard way tonight that she lied about whatever suited her. He didn't want to be with a person like that)

(Sam knew, unfortunately, that Jason was in love with Elizabeth again. He just hoped that Sam didn't retaliate against Elizabeth because of him. But, if she did, he would be ready)

(Meanwhile, at Sam's penthouse, Sam screams as she throws a figurine against the front door as she falls to her knees, unable to believe that she lost everything. Sam vowed revenge against Elizabeth)

***About An Hour Later***

(Elizabeth gets home from work to see that Franco has planned a romantic dinner. They greet each other)

Franco: "The boys are in bed, so I thought I'd make a nice dinner for us."

Liz: "Thank you. I appreciate it. Work was long, so it'll be nice to sit down and eat and chat about our day."

(Franco pulls out Elizabeth's chair and pushes it in when she sits. He sits across from her. As they eat their nice meal, they chat about their day. Franco sighs softly as he admitted something he didn't want to)

Franco: "In the past, I had a lot of income. But, that was because of my tumor. Now that I'm better and even though I have a job, it's like...it's like it doesn't matter. My income right now? It isn't as good as it was in the past."

Liz: (nods) "Don't worry. Things will get better."

Franco: (sighs deeply) "I wish you wouldn't do that. "

(Elizabeth looks at him with concern and asked him what he means)

Franco: "You know that things haven't been good financially for a while now. Yes, Ava paid me $15,000 for the portrait I made of her. However, due to bills, the kid's activities, and anything else that popped up, it's pretty much gone. Also, we need to worry about Cameron's college fund. As in a year, he'll be heading off to the school of his choice. Everything in life costs money. Anything that the boys want to do this summer into the fall."

Liz: "Jason is the boy's father. He'd be more than willing to help out. In the past, he's offered, but I always turned him down." (shrugs) "Maybe it's time to ask him."

(Franco looks away in annoyance as it bugged him when she brought up Jason to help them. Franco didn't hate Jason. But Elizabeth was making it sound like he couldn't provide for his own family! He looks at his wife and sighs deeply as he spoke)

Franco: "I'm sure you mean well. But, it irritates me when you bring up Jason to help us. I know he's the boys' father, Elizabeth, but he doesn't need to ALWAYS help out. It should be up to ME to provide for the family as I'M the stepdad and the husband, NOT Jason."

Liz: (sighs) "I understand that, honey. But, there's nothing wrong with asking for help, either. I'm a nurse and I know it's supposed to be a good income. But with three kids to support and bills, it's not cheap."

(Franco scoffs and shakes his head before mumbling)

Franco: "You never could say no to Jason, could you, Lizzie?"

(Before Elizabeth has a chance to ask Franco what he said, he walks away from the table)

Liz: "Franco! Wh-?" (scoffs & sighs) "I wish you'd understand."

(After thinking about her conversation with Franco and how upset he was just now...she decides in that moment that she would never ask help from Jason financially out of respect for Franco)
