Episode 14: Sora vs Riku

It had been a couple of days since Sora, Kairi, and Pikachu left Vermillion City. Before they left, Sora has sent Sandshrew, Geodude, and Onix back to Professor Oak's lab after being healed by Nurse Joy in exchange for Squirtle, Butterfree, and Mankey. So to get to Celadon City, they had to go through the rock tunnel just outside of Cerulean City. Along the way, they came across bipedal Pokémon that is primarily yellow. Its face is kite-shaped with a small, pale yellow snout and two short, pointed ears with pale yellow interiors. Its wide eyes are normally closed. Abra's body is segmented with black skin is visible between its joints and along its neck. It has two brown, pauldron-shaped extensions on its shoulders, as well as a brown, fauld-like piece around its chest. It has three digits on each hand and foot, but its fingers considerably shorter than its toes. Two of its toes face forward and one faces backward. Its tail is thick and long, with a brown band located near the tip. The Pokémon is fast asleep. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Abra, the Psi Pokémon

Type: Psychic

Abra sleeps for 18 hours a day. When it senses danger, it will teleport itself to safety.

"Okay, here we go," Sora said. He took outaPokéball and threw it. Abra flows inside the Pokéball and it wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Abra with him. He chose to send Abra to Professor Oak's lab. "That was surprisingly easy."

"But it was a pretty good catch, Sora," Kairi said. She looked around and she spotted a Vulpix.

A little while later, Sora came across a yellow Pokémon resembling a duck or a bipedal platypus. On top of its head are three thick strands of black hair, and it has a wide, flat cream-colored beak. Its eyes seem vacant and have tiny pupils. Its legs and tail are stubby, and it has cream-colored webbed feet. There are three claws on each of its hands. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Psyduck, the Duck Pokémon

Type: Water

If its usual headache worsens, it starts exhibiting odd powers. It can't remember doing so, however.

"Usual headache?" Sora asked, putting his Pokédex away.

"Psyduck," the Psyduck said.

"Hm," Sora took a good look at Psyduck and stroked his chin. Sora took out a Berry that resembles an apple. This is a Leppa Berry. "Here, eat this." Psyduck took the Leppa Berry and ate in one bite. "You like it, don't you?" He rubs Psyduck on the head. "Well, it's been nice to meet you, Psyduck. See ya." He turned to Pikachu. "Come on, buddy."

"Pika," Pikachu nodd3d.

Sora and Pikachu took off in the opposite direction. Psyduck watched Sora and Pikachu walking. Psyduck then started to follow them. A little later, Sora spotted a Mime Jr in the distance. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Mime Jr, the Mime Pokémon

Type: Psychic/Fairy

It habitually mimics foes. The mimicked foe is said to be unable to look away from Mime Jr.

"If I remember right, Mr. Mime evolved from Mime Jr," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it at Mime Jr. Mime Pokémon flows inside and stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Mime Jr with him. He chose to send Mr. Mime to Professor Oak's lab. "Good catch, huh?" Sora and Pikachu came across a Drowzee. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. Drowzee flows inside of it. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Drowzee with him. He chose to send Drowzee to Professor Oak's lab.

Sora and Pikachu found Kairi and Angel found when they came across a Vulpix. Kairi was captivated by the cute appearance of Vulpix. She quickly took out her Pokédex and scanned it.

Vulpix, the Fox Pokémon

Type: Fire

Vulpix's fur and six tails are very beautiful. The flames Vulpix spews have been often mistaken for ghosts.

"Ooh, Vulpix is such a cutie," Kairi cooed. She took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Happiny! Go!" Her Pokéball opened and Happiny came right out. "Happiny! Use Pound!" Happiny ran towards Vulpix and lands a Pound on the Fox Pokémon. Vulpix ran towards Happiny with Quick Attack, landing a hit. "Use Pound again!" Happiny lands another Pound. Vulpix then fired Ember at Happiny. "Dodge and use Sweet Kiss!" Happiny blows a kiss at the Fox Pokémon, releasing a pink heart at it. When the heart hits the opponent, the Vulpix became confused. Vulpix was about to attack, but she hurts herself. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Vulpix flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Vulpix with her. She chose to send Vulpix to Professor Oak's lab. "I have my very first Fire-type!"

"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.

"And a good catch, Kairi!" Sora said. This made Kairi blush.

"Thanks. I think I have Happiny to thank," Kairi said.

"Piny!" Happiny said. Happiny then started to evolve, surprising her greatly. Happiny has now become a Chansey. "Chansey!"

"You evolved!" Kairi said, taking out her Pokédex and scanned her.

Chansey, the Egg Pokémon

The evolved form of Happiny

Type: Normal

A gentle and kindhearted Pokémon that shares its nutritious eggs if it sees an injured Pokémon.

"And I thought you were cute as a Happiny, but you're still pretty cute, Chansey," Kairi said.

"Chansey!" Chansey said.

After making a successful catch and her Happiny evolving, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel continued on with their journey. As they kept going, they heard a loud cry.

"You hear that?" Sora asked.

They looked around and they spotted what looks like a pink Butterfree being chased by a large, mostly brown avian Pokémon with a vulturine neck and broad, powerful wings. It has a long, pointed, pink beak and a decorative red coxcomb on top of its head. Its narrow eyes have very small pupils and do not appear to have colored irises. It has shaggy, feathers at the base of its neck and covering the upper portion of its wings. These feathers are cream-colored, as are the tips of its flight feathers. Its sharp-clawed talons are pink, with three toes pointing forward and one pointing backward. This Pokémon is Fearow. The pink Butterfree had the same kind of purple markings as the Butterfree battled aboard the St. Anne.

"Sora, that Butterfree is being chased by that Fearow!" Kairi exclaimed. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Go! Butterfree!" Sora called out. His Butterfree flew out. "Use Tackle on that Fearow!" Sora's Butterfree tackled right into Fearow. The pink Butterfree stopped fleeing from Fearow when it looked right at him. "Use Gust!" Sora's Butterfree flapped his wings and created a powerful wind. It blows Fearow against a tree. Hurt from the Gust, Fearow flew off, but not as well. Sora looked at the fleeing Fearow. "And don't come back!" He looked right back up to Butterfree. "Great job up there, Butterfree!" Sora's Butterfree turned to Sora and smiled. The pink Butterfree flew up to him, and it blushed. It does a little dance for him. Sora's Butterfree did the same kind of dance. "Butterfree is dancing?"

"That pink Butterfree's a girl. And that's the Butterfree mating dance. It must be because your Butterfree saved her from that awful Fearow," Kairi said.

"All I did was think fast," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

Butterfree and the pink Butterfree fluttered down. He points to Kairi. Sora's Butterfree makes his own sounds to them.

"You want me to catch this Butterfree?" Kairi asked. Sora's Butterfree nodded. She turned to Sora and smiled.

"Well, it'll be wrong of us to keep them apart, so why not?" Sora asked. Kairi smiled and she took out a Pokéball and held it.

"You're right, Sora. These two deserve each other," Kairi said. The pink Butterfree flows inside and stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep the pink Butterfree. She chose to keep her in exchange for Jigglypuff. "Welcome to the team, Pinky."

"Pinky?" Sora asked.

"That's what I decided to call her because she's pink. And also, it's very cute," Kairi said.

"Fair enough. Let's go," Sora said.

They continued onwards on their travels. They had to keep their wits up, looking out for the Heartless and for Team Rocket.

Speaking of which, Jessie, James, and Meowth had been ordered to report to Team Rocket headquarters after James has caught himself a Mime Jr. They stood before a tall, medium built, middle aged man. He has very short, flat, dark hair and small dark eyes. He wore a long sleeved black shirt with a large V neck that shows off a white undershirt, black slightly baggy trousers and black shoes. With him is a Pokémon that resembles a large cat or a bit like a lynx. Its fur is beige in color, and it has a curly tail. There is also a small, red gem on its forehead. This Pokémon is a Persian.

"You wanted to see us, Giovanni, sir?" Jessie asked.

"I did," Giovanni said. "I want to know why is it taking you three so long to retrieve a Pokémon for me." The Team Rocket trio froze in place.

"Well, sir, we are currently in pursuit of a very unique Pokémon; a Pikachu to be exact," James said.

"And how long have you been pursuing this particular Pokémon?" Giovanni asked.

"For the last few months, sir," Meowth said. Jessie and James froze when Meowth answered that. He shuts his mouth with his paws when he realized he bluttered it out.

"Funny. I have received a report that you three interfering with one of our grunts, and attempted to take over the operation; an operation I have assigned. And that grunt has been put in jail because of it.," Giovanni said. They knew he was talking about the Cerulean City incident. "Tell me, is it true?"

"Sir, we can assure you that statement is 100% false," James said.

"Yeah, 100%," Meowth agreed.

"Well, it better be for your sake, because if it turns out to be 100% true, you will be punished," Giovanni said. They shivered. "We can discuss that for later. There is some business to attend to in Celadon City I am to attend. You three will be assigned in the Game Corner. There is word that law officials have been sniffing around, so I need you to run some distractions, I don't even care what the hell you have to do."

"Oh, we will be happy to accompany you, sir," Jessie said. James and Meowth looked at her.

"Um, would you excuse us for a moment, sir?" James asked before he, Meowth, and Jessie went into a huddle. They whispered just so Giovanni wouldn't hear them. "Jess, what the hell are you doing?"

"Taking us up in the big leagues," Jessie whispered. "Think about it. The boss wants us to come along to Celadon City, and we get to be right there with him. And we will be running an interference for Team Rocket. Everyone will have to take us serious then."

"I get ya. The boss has to like us to give us a job this important," Meowth said, grinning.

"And it's so simple, even a five-year-old can do it," James said.

"Also, there's a chance the twerps will be on their way there, and we can snatch Pikachu when they get there," Jessie said.

"Ooh, I am liking this even more," James said.

"Me too. Let's do this," Meowth said.

The Team Rocket trio agreed. They turned to their boss. "We will be more than happy to accompany you to Celadon City, sir."

"Excellent. We will depart immediately," Giovanni said. "Come, Persian." Persian stood up and snobbishly brushed off Meowth, infuriating him.

"Ooh, I would like to shove those paws down his throat!" Meowth said.

"Later, Meowth! We got a job to do, remember?" James asked.

"Right," Meowth said.

They followed the Team Rocket boss right to the helicopter and flew right towards Celadon City.

Back to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, they continued on their way towards Cerulean to head for Celadon City. Along the way, they met up with an eccentric Pokémon Trainers who loves Pokémon as much as Sora and Kairi, but more.

He wore a white lab coat with a green shirt underneath and red shorts. He also wore a red cap with an image a Pokéball on it. He pulled out a Pokéball. The top is blue with two red accents and the bottom is white. The band is black and the button is white or light gray. This Pokéball is a Great Ball.

"Go! Porygon!" The Trainer called out. The Great Ball opened and let out an unusual looking Pokémon. It looks a little like a duck or some kind of bird that looks like it's made out of polygons. The various parts of Porygon's body are colored pink, white, and blue. Its eyes are in the shape of hexagons.

Sora looked at Kairi who just shrugged her shoulders as Sora took out his Pokédex and pointed at the new Pokémon.

Porygon, the Virtual Pokémon

Type: Normal

The only Pokémon that people anticipate can fly into space. None has managed the feat yet, however.

"A virtual Pokémon? How cool!" Sora said. "This will be a fun battle!" Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Charmander! Go!"

The Pokéball lets out Charmander.

"Char, Char!" Charmander said, entering the battle.

"Porygon! Tackle!" The Trainer called out. Porygon charged at Charmander.

"Charmander, dodge!" Sora called. Charmander ran to the side. "Scratch!" Charmander leaped towards Porygon and swipes the opposing Pokémon with his claws. The attack hits its mark. "Flamethrower!" Charmander takes his breath and unleashes his fire attack at Porygon. Porygon is taken back with the attack, but its Trainer smirked at that.

"Conversion!" the Trainer ordered. Porygon's body changed from pink and blue to red. Sora and Kairi looked at Porygon, not knowing what just happened. "I know what you're thinking. Conversion makes Porygon into the type that was last used against it. That means Porygon is now a Fire Type. Now use Tri-Attack!" Porygon forms a triangle from its beak and feet. Three circles one being blue, one being red, and one being yellow forms at the tips of the triangle. Porygon fires the attack as fire, ice, and electricity flows with it.

"Charmander! Get out of the way! Hurry!" Sora called out. Charmander to tried to run, but the blast was too great to avoid as he got hit. Charmander ended up being paralyzed as a result.

"Oh no! Charmander!" Kairi cried.

"Finish it with Psybeam!" The Trainer ordered. Porygon fired Psybeam, knocking Charmander out.

"Charmander, return!" Sora calls Charmander back into his Pokéball and pulls out another. "Squirtle! Go!" Sora throws the Pokéball letting Squirtle out.

"Squirtle!" Squirtle said entering battle.

"Okay Porygon! Use Tri-attack again!" The Trainer ordered. Porygon did exactly that firing the attack.

"Squirtle! Dodge that!" Sora called. Squirtle jumped out of the way using his tail as a spring. "Use your strongrst Water Gun!"

"Squirtle!" Squirtle lets out a huge Water Gun, taking Porygon in the blast. With that, the attack was Super-effective and Porygon was down for the count.

"Come back, Porygon!" The Trainer said drawing Porygon back. He pulls out another Pokéball and threw it. "Let's go Koffing!" The Pokéball unleashes a Koffing, but it was different. This Koffing was in a teal coloring and it let out pink smoke. Also stars swirled around the Koffing as it was realized. Sora and Kairi were amazed by this Koffing's unique coloring. Sora pulled his Pokédex and pointed at the Koffing.

Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokémon

Type: Poison

Koffing embodies toxic substances. It mixes the toxins with raw garbage to set off a chemical reaction that results in a terribly powerful poison gas. The higher the temperature, the more gas is concocted by this Pokémon.

"This is the first time that I have ever seen a Shiny Pokémon," Kairi said.

"Me too," Sora added.

"Pika," Pikachu said, also amazed.

"Eevee," Angel added.

"It's awesome isn't it?" the Trainer said. "This Koffing is the pinnacle of awesome! Right Koffing?"

"Koffing!" Koffing said.

"Should we the show on the road?" Sora asked.

"We should!" Sora's challenger nodded. "Koffing! Gyro Ball!"

"Koffing!" Koffing charged at quirtle with great speed. Koffing spins its body surrounding it with a ring.

"Squirtle! Get out of the way!" Sora called out.

"Squirtle!" Squirtle tries to move out of the way in time, but he got hit with the attack.

"Use Skull Bash!" Sora ordered.

Squirtle lowered his head and ran towards Koffing while Koffing moves at Squirtle with another Gyro Ball.

The two attacks clashed creating a dust cloud. Sora covered his eyes with his arms, Pikachu held his ground and while Kairi held her skirt down. Angel shielded her eyes. Once the dust cloud cleared Squirtle and Koffing were both knocked out.

"Ah! Koffing!" the trainer ran towards Koffing.

"Hey Squirtle," Sora ran up to Squirtle. "You doing okay?"

"Squirtle," Squirtle said sorrowful.

"Don't apologize," Sora said. "You should take it easy." Sora drew out Squirtle's Pokéball and drew him back inside.

"You did good, Koffing," the Trainer said. He took his Koffing's Pokéball and called it back inside. "And you did too. Still wanna continue with one more match?"

"Sure thing," Sora said before looking at Pikachu. "You ready, Pikachu?"

"Pikachu!" Pikachu said when he entered battle.

"Then let's go then," the trainer said. "Mankey! Go!" he threw his Pokéball and it unleashed a Mankey. Sora pulled out his Pokédex once again and pointed at Mankey.

Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon

Type: Fighting

When Mankey starts shaking and its nasal breathing turns rough, it's a sure sign that it is becoming angry. However, because it goes into a towering rage almost instantly, it is impossible for anyone to flee its wrath.

"Talking about anger issues," Sora joked. "Okay Pikachu! Go!

"Pika!" Pikachu rushed in.

"Mankey! Scratch!" Mankey charges to scratch Pikachu.

"Dodge with Agility!" Sora ordered.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu used his speed to avoid the Pig Monkey Pokémon's attack.

"Don't let Pikachu get away!" the Trainer called. "Rock Tomb!"

Mankey creates a barrage of large boulders outlined in white energy that erupts from the earth, and right at Pikachu. The rocks struck him hard.

"Pikachu!" Sora called.

"Careful, Sora!" Kairi said. "Rock Tomb can cut Pikachu's speed when it hits."

Sora turned to Kairi and nodded. Looking at the rocks, he got and idea.

"Pikachu! Use Quick Attack on the rocks!" Sora ordered.

"Pika!" Pikachu used his Quick Attack as he jumped from Rock to another.

The trainer didn't know what he was trying to do, but he figured that he'd do the same.

"Mankey! You climb on the rocks too!" The Trainer ordered.

Mankey jumped on the rocks. Jumping off each one Mankey was getting closer to launch an attack. Once the two Pokémon were close to the touch...

"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.

"PIKACHU!" Pikachu let out a powerful Thunderbolt knocking Mankey through some of the rocks behind it. Mankey tried to get back up only to fall on the side.

"OH NO!" The Trainer gasped.

Once the battle was over, the remaining rocks disappeared and the opposing trainer joins Sora, Kairi, and Pikachu for lunch.

"Thanks for the meal," the Trainer said. "I didn't introduce myself first. The name's Lester."

"I'm Sora," Sora said introducing himself.

"And I'm Kairi," she introduced herself as well.

"I have got say that you're a tough Trainer, Sora," Lester complimented. "Probably one of the toughest."

"I'm not that tough," Sora said, scratching the back of his head.

Kairi giggled.

"Don't be so modest," Kairi said. "You battled your way and you never gave up."

"I guess," Sora said, taking another bite of his sandwich.

"So where are you two heading, anyway?" Lester asked the two of them.

"Over to Celadon City," Sora answered. "We figured that we make it there by heading through the Rock Tunnel just outside of Cerulean City on the way."

"I know about that place," Lester said. "That place is said to be really dark. Just hope that you two don't end up getting lost in there."

"I'm sure that it was nothing compared to when we got lost on our way to Vermillion City," Kairi teased.

"Hey! I thought we could get there fast enough!" Sora argued.

"I know," Kairi said. "Just teasing you."

She, Pikachu, Angel and Lester laughed at that.

"What about you, Lester? What brings you out here?"

"Well I'm on my way to Cerulean City just to check out the town, along with the Pokémon at the local Gym," Lester said.

"You sure love Pokémon a lot, don't you?" Kairi asked.

"Yeah, I do!" Lester admitted. "I loved Pokémon ever since I was little! There were times that I would pretend that I was one!"

Sora and Kairi just smiled and giggled to his enthusiasm for Pokémon.

"That's what Sora and I have in common," Kairi said.

"Yeah," Sora added.

"And I'll say that these are the best sandwiches that I have ever eaten," Lester said smiling.

"Thanks," Kairi blushed at Lester's compliment.

"Anything that Kairi makes always tastes so good," Sora said.

"My mom always said that the quickest way to win a man's heart is through his stomach," Lester said. "You'll make some guy happy one day."

"Yeah, I guess," Kairi said with a blush.

"Just as long as it's with the right guy," Sora said to himself.

Sora began to fantasize about himself and Kairi getting married one day. Sora wore a white tuxedo while Kairi wore a white short skirt wedding dress. Leaf, Karen and Daisy are maids of honor as Ash is his best man. Pikachu wore a black tuxedo, and Angel wore a little pink dress, matching her ribbon. Sora and Kairi's Pokémon and mother are in attendance. Delia is in tears watching her son and his bride on the altar exchanging their vows. Mirei and Yuta are also in tears.

"Do you, Sora Ketchum," the priest started, "take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health til death do you part?"

"I, Sora Ketchum," Sora started, "will always love, honor, and cherish you with all my heart and soul. I do. I do take this woman to be my lawfully wedded wife."

"Then by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest said. "You may now kiss the bride."

Sora and Kairi move in for the kiss to seal the deal, when Kairi spoke up.

"Sora. Sora. Sora!" Kairi said repeatedly. Sora snapped back to reality. "Sora! You awake?"

"Uh, yeah!" Sora said, shaking off his wedding fantasy. "Good as always, Kairi!" Sora took big bite of his sandwich but soon regretted it when he started to choke.

"Is he okay?" Lester asked concerned.

"Pika," Pikachu facepalmed.

"Eevee," Angel sighed.

"Sora's choking!" Kairi said. She got behind him and started to give him the heimlich maneuver. With a few thrusts, Sora spat the obstructing piece from his throat. "Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah," Sora wheezed.

Kairi handed Sora a water bottle.

"Here's some water," Kairi said.

Sora drank the water slowly, but he stopped so that he could breathe.

"Thanks Kairi," Sora said, catching his breath.

"Went down the wrong pipe there, didn't it?" Lester pointed out.

"Honestly, Sora," Kairi said. "You should chew before you swallow."

"Okay 'mom'," Sora joked. "And may be I could have some milk and cookies for an afternoon snack."

Kairi laughed as Sora stuck out his tongue, and Pikachu and Angel laughed along the two kids. Lester chuckled to himself watching the two of them.

"The way those two are going at it; it's almost like thery're married," Lester said in his thoughts.

After a couple of days, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel had made it to Cerulean City. Sora and Kairi made a stop at the local shop to pick up some supplies before heading to the Pokémon Center. They checked in their Pokémon to be healed.

Riku entered the Pokémon Center preparing to have his Pokémon healed up. He spotted Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel on the bench. Naturally he walked up to them.

Hey," Riku called grabbing Sora's attention. Sora turned to see a silver haired boy with an Eevee with his exact hairstyle in front of him. "Is that Pikachu yours?"

"Yes, Pikachu is mine," Sora answered. "But I could ask about that Eevee."

"He is," Riku said. Eevee jumped off his Trainer's shoulder and landed to face Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu greeted, holding out his paw. Eevee just stared at Pikachu for a moment. "Pika," Pikachu kept holding out his paw for a response. Eevee just turned and returned to Riku's side.

"Your Eevee isn't too friendly is he?" Sora asked.

"Eevee only opens up with me," Riku said. "He doesn't socialize much with other Pokémon. Neither with people."

"Eevee," Eevee said.

"Oh, your Eevee is really cute. He even has your hair," Kairi cooed.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Anyway, my name's Sora," Sora introduced himself.

"My name's Kairi, and this is Angel," Kairi introduced.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Nice to meet you. The name's Riku, and you know my partner here," Riku said. He looked at Pikachu and took out his Pokédex.

Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon

The evolved form of Pichu

Type: Electric

When several Pikachu gather, their electricity can build and cause lightning storms. If you carelessly pull on Pikachu's tail, it will either shock you or bite you.

Riku smirked and puts his Pokédex away.

"Your Pikachu looks like it's been well-taken care of," Riku said.

"Well, Kairi has been helping out with mine and her own Pokémon," Sora said.

"Hm, not like the Pikachu back home," Riku said.

"Back home?" Sora asked.

"Where are you from?" Kairi asked.

"I came from Iki Town on Melemele Island in the Alola region. My Eevee was given to me from Professor Kukui," Riku said.

"Alola?" Sora asked.

"I know about that place. My parents went there for their honeymoon," Kairi said. "I've seem some photos of their honeymoon, and their wedding."

"Man, it must be nice to grow up on a little island," Sora said.

"It's not as glamorous as it seems," Riku said. "I just wanted to see what's beyond Alola, so I went on my journey."

"That's the same reason as me and her," Sora said. Riku looked between the two of them, and he could tell there is something between them. Especially when Sora's face turned red, blushing as he looked at her.

A little while later, Sora and Kairi picked up their Pokémon, so Riku went up to Sora.

"Sora, mind if I have a word with you?" Riku asked.

"Sure," Sora said. Sora and Pikachu went with Riku and Eevee to talk. "Okay, Riku, what's up?"

"Okay spill it," Riku said.

"Spill what?" Sora asked not understanding.

"Don't be so coy," Riku smirked. "I saw your goofy looking face in there. Your cheeks were red as your Pikachu's cheeks. You two are dating. I just know it!"

Sora blushed at that. And his heart started to beatfing at what he said he noticed.

"We're not dating!" Sora defended. "We're just friends!" Sora stated turning his back crossing his arms. Riku wasn't buying it.

"Just friends?" Riku teased. "So, just how did you two crazy kids meet?"

"It was Angel who led the way," Sora said.

"Angel?" Riku asked.

"Kairi was kidnapped by a couple of Pokémon Hunters," Sora said. "It was after she let one of the Pokémon they had already had in a cage get away. I did the same thing letting out a caged Pidgey. And that was when those guys showed up and sicced their Spearow on me and Pikachu. We stumbled on their camp. Kairi was in a burlap sack and I got her out. So we got away, but their flock of Spearow chased after us, but they hurt Pikachu and Angel pretty bad. When those guys caught up with us, I told Kairi not to let anything happen to Pikachu no matter what. But Pikachu just ran to my side and unleashed a powerful electric attack sending the hunters and their Spearow back. Pikachu and Angel ended up in bad shape after that. We made it to the Pokémon Center in Viridian City on time," Sora said. Riku looked right at Sora.

"I have a feeling there's more than you're telling me," Riku said.

"Um, what?" Sora asked.

"Was there anything else unusual?" Riku asked.

"Uh, I don't know what you're talking about," Sora said.

"Useless to play dumb, Sora. I bet you've seen them," Riku said. Sora sighed.

"Well, since you've twisted my arm, I might as well spill it. Kairi and I saw a bunch of creatures with yellow eyes," Sora said. Riku knew what he was talking about. "We've seen them around, and I had taken them out, with this." He summoned his Keyblade. Riku was unphased by the Keyblade.

"So, you have one of those, too," Riku said. Sora was confused as Riku summoned his Keyblade. Sora nearly jumped out of his shoes.

"A Keyblade?! You have a Keyblade?!" Sora exclaimed.

"Yeah. And I've seen the Heartless, too. The reason I brought it up, because I sensed something off of you. That's why I brought it up," Riku said.

"Man, I never thought I would meet another one," Sora said.

"You aren't the only one, Sora. The Heartless being here is basically one of the reasons I'm here. I've been keeping my eyes open for them," Riku said. "Enough about our Keyblades, because I have another thing I wanna ask you."

"What?" Sora asked.

"How would you like to have a battle against me? One-on-one?" Riku asked.

"Sure. I could use a warm-up," Sora said.

"Great. Tomorrow morning. I wanna see what you've got," Riku said.

"You got a deal, Riku," Sora said.

They sealed the deal with a handshake.

"Don't think that I'm going to go easy on you just because we're friends now," Riku said.

"I don't want you to," Sora said.

"Remember, no chickening out of it," Riku said.

"Wouldn't dream of it," Sora said.

That night, Kairi is fast asleep on the top bunk with Angel in her arms while Sora could hardly sleep thinking about the battle in the morning. Sora wondered how tough are Trainers from Alola can be. He slowly shut his eyes and went to sleep.

On the very next morning, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel met Riku and his Eevee in the local park.

"Good of you to come, Sora. I was almost beginning to think you weren't gonna come," Riku said.

"Even the Heartless can keep me away," Sora said. "One-on-one like we agreed, right?"

"One-on-one, Sora," Riku said. Riku turned to his Eevee. "You ready to rock, Eevee?"

"Eevee," Eevee said with a nod. He stepped in, ready to go. Sora turned to Pikachu.

"Okay, Pikachu. Go for it," Sora said.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

Both Pokémon looked at each other as did the Trainers.

"Let's get started," Riku said.

"Eevee go! Quick Attack!

"Eevee!" Eevee ran with lightning fast speed.

"Pikachu! You use Quick Attack too!"

Pikachu ran at the same speed as Eevee. They both clashed into each other knocking each other off balace.

"Shake it off!" Riku called out. "Use Shadow Ball!"

Eevee shot Shadow Ball right at Pikachu.

"Iron Tail!" Sora shouted.

"Pika!" Pikachu swung the Shadow Ball with the might of the Iron Tail, cutting it open like a watermelon.

"Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.

"Dig!" Riku ordered.

Eevee dug through the earth digging as fast as his little paws could go. The Thunderbolt missed.

"Keep your cool, Pikachu!" Sora called. "Eevee could pop anywhere in any moment!"

Pikachu looked around to where Eevee could strike. Riku waited for a moment. He made the call.

"Now! Swift!" Riku ordered. Eevee jumped out of the ground and sent a barrage of stars at Pikachu. Sora suddenly remembered an old trick he used during his battle with Misty. He wondered if he could pull it off again. Only one way to find out.

"Pikachu! Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu started to run as fast as he could go.

"What is he up to? Swift can't be dodged, no matter what you do," Riku said in his thoughts.

The stars continue to follow Pikachu. As soon as he stopped. Eevee's Swift attack quickly gained on the Mouse Pokémon. Riku couldn't believe what he just saw Pikachu do.

"Now move!" Sora ordered as Pikachu dove to the side letting Eevee take the hit. That created a dust cloud. Once it cleared Eevee still stood there. Eevee was hurt by the move. "Iron Tail!"

"Pika! Pika! Pika! Pika!" Pikachu swung the Iron Tail at Eevee. But Eevee jumped out of the way catching Sora and Pikachu off guard.

"Using my Eevee's Swift against him was a good move," Riku said. "But it'll take more than that to take Eevee down! Quick Attack, then follow with Shadow Ball and Swift!"

Eevee ran fast right at Pikachu. Pikachu could have dodged, but he was too tired from all the running he did with Swift. Eevee fired Swift and Shadow Ball right at Pikachu. Having enough, Pikachu fell on his stomach totally beaten. Sora clearly lost.

"I lost," Sora whispered falling on his knees.

Riku walked up to Sora and looked at him.

"You're a good Trainer," Riku complimented. "But you're still not good enough to beat me." Sora stood up and shook Riku's hand.

"Well next time, I'll have to try harder," Sora said.

"I hope so, Sora," Riku said. He moved in and whispered to Sora's ear. "Just be a man and tell Kairi that you love her." Riku laughed as he blushed again.

With that said, a rivalry between Sora and Riku has been forged. Just how far will their rivalry will go? And will two Keyblade Wielders be enough to take on the Heartless? Just wait and see as we continue.
