Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter One-hundred and eight: Scorn in Sinnoh, part two
Dawn, with a plain clothes disguised Princess Salvia next to her, stood off to the side in the Oreburgh City Museum, where Team Scorn had set off their latest act in Sinnoh. In a repeat of what occurred while Dawn and Kenny were traveling through Kanto, an exhibit on the Hisuian period was set up in the museum, and among other things the exhibit had a display of the skeletal remains of an alpha Hisuian Pokémon. The museum's fossil restoration team used the skeletal remains to revive an alpha Hisuian Pokémon into modern times, resulting in the scene before Dawn and Salvia; Trip squaring to face off against an alpha Hisuian Goodra.
The only saving grace here for the museum's fossil restoration team was the fact that Team Scorn got involved here to make this happen deliberately. They must have tricked and or coerced the fossil restoration team into playing along. Team Scorn truly has mastered the art of manipulating others into acting as they want, especially as among the group of Team Scorn members who fled the museum when the alpha Hisuian Goodra started rampaging was Felecia, the Captain's Assistant of Katou, the First Captain of Team Scorn's Kunai Sector.
Felecia had tricked former Sinnoh Champion Cynthia, who was helping with the exhibit, into helping with moving the crate that held the skeletal remains of the alpha Hisuian Goodra close enough to where the fossil restoration team worked in order to facilitate the process of reviving the alpha Hisuian Goodra into the modern day. Due to that trickery, Felecia and Team Scorn as a whole were able to bring about the aforementioned revival into modern times for the alpha Hisuian Goodra. But Dawn for the life of her had no idea what Team Scorn could be planning with that.
Looking at where the alpha Hisuian Goodra stood before him, Trip tossed up a pokéball while saying, "Alright, Myde! Let's rock it!" Trip's named Empoleon came out to do battle against the alpha-sized Pokémon rampaging before it. Sensing something, Goodra turned and saw Myde, who cried out challengingly at it. Goodra let out a loud and challenging cry of its own. Gesturing forward, Trip called out, "Myde, use Ice Beam!"
The named Empoleon opened his beak and fired an icy cold beam of energy at its opponent, striking it on the gut and doing at least some damage. To Trip's surprise, Goodra retaliated with its own Ice Beam attack, likewise hitting Myde in the gut but hardly doing anything. "Myde, use Ice Beam again!" Trip called out.
Acting as it was told, Myde fired another beam of icy cold energy at Goodra, scoring another fair hit. To Trip's alarm however, Goodra this time decided to use Thunderbolt, dealing a lot more damage to Myde by striking him with a powerful bolt of conjured electricity. But the named Empoleon wouldn't be laid low by just one super effective attack.
Trip then saw that the alpha Pokémon before him was preparing to use Thunderbolt again; it obviously saw that Thunderbolt got it good results on Myde. Acting quickly, Trip said while swapping his Pokémon around, "Myde that's enough, get back! Alright, Fourze! Let's rock it!" Taking the place of Myde was Fourze, Trip's named Electivire. Goodra's Thunderbolt struck Fourze, but all that occurred was Fourze's legs glowing with a radiant energy. "Ah ha ha! You triggered Fourze's Motor Drive ability!" Trip declared, "Fourze, use Fire Punch!"
Rushing forward more quickly, Fourze with a fist on fire slugged the Goodra as high as he could reach. Being an alpha-sized Hisuian Goodra gave it some advantages due to its sheer size. Even so, the Goodra took a solid hit from Fire Punch, even getting burned as a result. Even so, Goodra wasn't done yet and, seeing that its Thunderbolt attack doesn't work on the opponent before it, fired a Dragon Pulse attack at Fourze, striking him and landing some decent damage. Goodra was then pained by the burn it got, but it wouldn't kneel just yet.
Seeing the alpha Hisuian Goodra charging up another Dragon Pulse, Trip said while swapping his Pokémon around, "Fourze that's enough, get back! Alright, Gypsy Danger! Let's rock it!" Coming out in Fourze's place was Gypsy Danger, Trip's named Togekiss, who immediately was hit by Dragon Pulse. However, as a Togekiss, Gypsy Danger is part fairy type and as such is immune to dragon type attacks. After the failed attack, Goodra was hurt by its burn again, and Trip felt that he should be getting it down low soon.
"Use Dazzling Gleam!" Trip commanded.
Gypsy Danger unleashed a blinding barrage of dazzling light, slamming into Goodra and getting a pained cry out of it; Dawn noticed that it didn't sound as pained as what a dragon should sound when receiving a fairy attack, however. Goodra retaliated by spewing a strong Flamethrower attack at Gypsy Danger, striking her and even giving her a burn of her own. But at that time, both Pokémon were pained by their burns, and what's more is that Goodra went down to one knee, clearly reaching its limit. Trip saw this as his chance.
Taking out a spare Ultra Ball and expanding it, Trip threw it at the alpha Hisuian Goodra while calling out, "Go, Ultra Ball!" The Ultra Ball flew at the alpha Pokémon, hitting it and taking it inside. The Ultra Ball then fell softly to the floor before it proceeded to shake around for a few tense moments. Then, to everyone's relief, the Ultra Ball made a ping sound, indicating capture. Trip let out a relieved breath as he walked over to where the Ultra Ball holding the alpha Hisuian Goodra he caught laid on the floor. He picked it up and scanned it with his pokédex. "Ah, it's a boy," Trip remarked, "So I'll name him Todoroki."
Trip wasn't the only one relieved by the capture of the now dubbed Todoroki; Dawn and Salvia were likewise relieved. With the situation handled, Dawn and the others would be able to tell everyone else that the coast was clear.
Dawn was clearly successful in protecting Salvia, and Trip said that he was looking forward to working with Todoroki, especially since the people in charge of the Hisuian exhibit said that they couldn't take the Goodra as they lacked the capacity to care for it. To Dawn's surprise, the people running this Hisuian exhibit were from the same group as the ones running the Hisuian exhibit where Dawn and Kenny ultimately got Argent and Priestess. Not the exact same people mind you, but they were still from the same group as a whole.
Cynthia and Roark came walking back to the museum, looking defeated as they explained that the Team Scorn members got away, having been focusing solely on fleeing from the museum. Dawn and Kenny still wanted to have some words with Felecia, who had pulled a fast one on them back in Hoenn. As for Kenny, not only was he successful in keeping others from getting into the museum while Trip was trying to contain the alpha Hisuian Goodra, but someone who Dawn and Kenny recognized had come on by to see what was happening.
"Ideku!" Dawn said in pleasant surprise when Kenny showed to everyone that Ideku Badorigo, a roaming trainer who Dawn and Kenny had befriended back while they were going through the Johto region, was in Oreburgh City.
Cynthia looked surprised by Dawn and Kenny being chummy with Ideku. "A friend of yours, Dawn and Kenny?" asked the former Sinnoh Champion.
Gesturing to Ideku, Dawn explained, "Yes. For those here not familiar with him, this is Ideku Badorigo. He's helped with fighting off Team Scorn in both the Johto and Hoenn regions."
"I heard that Team Scorn was up to something at the museum here," Ideku explained, "So I immediately came by, only for Kenny to hold me back while explaining to me that someone named Trip was covering it."
Holding up a hand, Trip said, "Yo, I'm Trip. And yeah, I got the situation covered." Tossing up an Ultra Ball, Trip called out Todoroki to show everyone (Trip sent Basara the Luxray to where Trip's other Pokémon are kept to make room). Gesturing to his alpha Hisuian Goodra, Trip said, "Todoroki here did put up one hell of a fight, though. I can tell he'll be a force to be reckoned with."
"Oh now that is cool!" Ideku said, "You caught a big and awesome Pokémon like that!"
"Team Scorn got away from Roark and I," Cynthia spoke up, "But the main trouble here has been settled. For now, we ought to have our Pokémon rested while we talk about what all Team Scorn may be up to here in Sinnoh."
Dawn nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we should get as many people in on it as possible." Everyone then proceeded to head to the hotel where Salvia is staying, where they will talk and plan out what to do while Salvia has some servants tend to all Pokémon who need it.
"You think Team Scorn aims to summon Dialga so they can capture it?!"
Dawn, Kenny, Trip, Salvia (back in her standard princess outfit), Roark, and Ideku were surprised to see just how shocked and taken aback Cynthia was by Dawn telling her the theory that she had come up with on what Team Scorn was aiming to do. "It's bad enough that Team Galactic had succeeded in summoning Dialga alongside Palkia a while ago during the events at the Spear Pillar," Cynthia said, "We were barely able to resolve that. But now Team Scorn might be aiming to try and do what Team Galactic before them had done?!"
"We still have time," Trip said, "We can throw some wrenches in their possible Dialga summoning plan."
Shrugging, Kenny added, "And you forget, Dawn and I have Palkia and Giratina respectively. In the offhand chance Team Scorn IS aiming to summon Dialga, and what's more they end up succeeding, Dawn and I can two-v-one Dialga to beat it back down."
"Oh!" Salvia said, "That reminds me!" At Salvia's order, two servants of hers carried out a elaborately detailed chest. Opening it, Salvia revealed inside a velvet lined cushioned casing. Nestled within was the Griseous Orb. "...In the offhand chance that they will be needed to help get Lord Dialga to settle down," Salvia began, "Then Lords Palkia and Giratina will need to be at full strength. Lord Palkia already has its Lustrous Orb, but Lord Giratina still needs its Griseous Orb. Kenny, we must go outside so that I may present the Griseous Orb to Lord Giratina."
Giving Salvia a double thumbs up, Kenny said, "Top kek!" Everyone went outside of the hotel, where Kenny called Black out. Salvia knelt before Kenny's legendary dragon and offered up to it the Griseous Orb. Black's eyes widened a bit not only at the surprise of at last being reunited with its treasure, but that said treasure was being offered to it freely, without any attempts to try and keep it away. The named Giratina received the Griseous Orb and, once it was now firmly keeping a hold of it, the legendary dragon shifted form, now floating in place in its Origin Form.
Once all of that was done, Kenny recalled Black before everyone headed back inside. Heading back into the room they were previously in, where Salvia's servants had just finished treating Myde, Fourze, Gypsy Danger, and Todoroki, Salvia said, "It was rather humbling to return to Lord Giratina its treasure. To think that I, who worships Lord Giratina more than I do the other two, would have the honor."
"Well we'll be needing as much power as we can get if we fail to keep Team Scorn from summoning Dialga," Cynthia said. Turning to look at Dawn, Cynthia asked, "What do you think we should do next?" A hint of knowing amusement entered Cynthia's expression. "You are the Champion of Sinnoh after all, Dawn. You ought to be calling the shots here."
"As far as we know, Team Scorn has both all the tech they need for summoning Dialga and the Adamant Orb," Dawn said, "If they're following those Team Galactic journals to the letter, then all they need now is to collect material from Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf in order to make a Red Chain."
Pounding a fist into his hand, Trip said, "So let's just head to where those three dwell and protect them from Team Scorn."
Looking around, Dawn remarked, "Well, we do have enough numbers to send at least one person each to Lake Verity, Lake Valor, and Lake Acuity. But I'd much rather that we have more numbers."
Gesturing to herself, Cynthia declared, "Let me handle Lake Valor, where Azelf dwells. It'll take you yourself Dawn to defeat me, and last I checked you aren't a member of Team Scorn."
The current Champion of Sinnoh offered the former Champion of Sinnoh a wry look of amusement. "No way would I join Team Scorn. Yellow and Dark Blue don't look all that good on me if you ask for my opinion."
"I can go scout out Lake Acuity if that would help," Ideku said, holding up a hand.
"Then that leaves Lake Verity," Dawn said, "Good. Kenny, Trip, and I will go there." To Ideku and Cynthia, Dawn said, "I know you both are very strong trainers, but don't go acting on your own. Stay hidden and scout the situation, and if you see Team Scorn, intervene only if you feel there's no other option. These guys are dangerous criminals, after all."
Cynthia hummed in amusement. "You certainly are taking charge here, Dawn."
"Sinnoh, and the world at large, is in danger so long as Team Scorn is about," Dawn replied, "I won't stand for them, especially any that are here in Sinnoh. I swore that I'd use my Palkia to drive Team Scorn out of Sinnoh if they showed up here, and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
Clapping his hands together, Trip said, "Well all that leaves us to do is Hey wait a minute, where did Looker go?"
"Oh, he got a call about a car being fixed," Freesia spoke up.
Shrugging, Trip replied, "Fair enough. Anyway, let's head to our assigned lakes. If possible, we ought to call up the help of the gym leaders here in Sinnoh. I bet they'd be down for helping to stop a region wide threat like Team Scorn. Maybe the elite four as well."
"We... can't help with going to the lakes like that, I'm afraid," Roark said, "The gym leaders are all caught up in important personal business, as is the elite four. I'd help if I could, but my fiance isn't feeling well right now. I'd really rather not have to leave her alone."
Dawn looked surprised. "Fiance? You and Maylene are getting married?"
With a small smile, Roark nodded in the affirmative. "Oh yeah. I was hoping to bring it up under better circumstances, but yeah. Maylene and I are going to get married."
Trip had a mildly suspicious look on his face. "Maylene, huh? As in the former Veilstone City gym leader? Yeah, I got some dark Pokémon user named Mitchell in Veilstone City instead. I barely eeked out a win against him on my first crack at him. The little dude was seriously tough."
"Kenny and I..." Dawn said, "...Can tell you the story later." The group then broke off and went to their destinations, leaving Salvia, Freesia, and Roark behind. Stopping Team Scorn from potentially summoning Dialga was of the greatest of importance here. Should the heroes fail, then Team Scorn will gain a significant boost to the power that they can whip out at a moment's notice.
Later, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip were hiding in a wooded area at Lake Verity, waiting to see if Team Scorn will show up to try preying on Mesprit. "...So you made it into 2022, huh?" Dawn said to Trip as they and Kenny waited in hiding, "Lucky. I kicked it in mid December 2021. Asthma attack, as you should know."
Holding up a hand, Kenny said, "Late December 2021. Hit by a car in my efforts to save a kitten from getting run over."
Trip smirked a bit in amusement. "Well now, I think that might be the first win I got over you. I made it into 2022. Long enough to not only get Legends: Arceus and get over a hundred hours into it, but also live long enough to see the reveal for Scarlet and Violet, the gen nine games."
Dawn and Kenny both went wide eyed out of jealousy. "...No fucking way," Kenny said, "You saw the reveal of gen nine?"
"What all did you see?" Dawn asked.
Smiling, Trip gently shook his head. "All I was able to see were the starters, Sprigatito a grass type cat, Fuecoco a fire type crocodile, and Quaxly a water type duck. I heard rumors that there might have been a reveal in June 2022, but surprise cancer took me before I was able to see if there was anything in June 2022 period."
Dawn let out a resigned sigh. "...It'd be nice to have advance knowledge on that business, but I suppose whatever the gen nine region will be might end up as truly uncharted territory for us."
"We can look into it after we deal with Team Scorn's shenanigans here in Sinnoh," Trip replied, "At the very least, we got the names of the starters, so we can use that as a point of reference to help learn what all we can."
Dawn nodded in agreement and was about to speak up, but stopped short when she heard a group of talking people enter the Lake Verity area. Dawn gestured for the boys to remain silent, then whispered to them to look in the direction she pointed in. The three reborn trainers carefully peeked out of where they hid, and when they did, they saw no less than thirty Team Scorn grunts. In addition to them, there was also Captain Zed and his Captain's Assistant Kenji, from Team Scorn's Katana Sector. The members of Team Scorn had with them a lot of tech that Team Galactic had used for capturing and holding the Lake Guardians.
"Oh, that cowardly blowhard," Kenny said in a whisper as he pointed Zed out to Trip, "He's the first Team Scorn officer that had ever caused trouble that Dawn and I dealt with."
Trip looked right at Zed. "...I'm getting vibes from him that he'd literally throw one of his men at someone and run away to avoid having to fight."
Kenny nodded in confirmation. "He literally did that, using his Captain's Assistant there, when he would have otherwise had to battle me at the Slowpoke Well in Azalea Town, Johto."
As the boys talked in hushed whispers, Dawn was doing a quick headcount of all present Team Scorn members at Lake Verity. "...Counting Zed and his assistant," Dawn said, "We're staring down a total of thirty-six members of Team Scorn here."
"So we get to bust twelve heads each," Kenny said as he cracked his knuckles a bit, "It'd be a fun way to take Black's new form for a test drive." Looking back to where Zed stood, Kenny added, "Let me get Zed. I didn't get to kick his ass the last time I saw him because he fled like the coward he is, so I'll strike him down this time."
Shrugging, Trip said, "Fine by me, dude."
"Guys," Dawn began, "I'd really prefer if we can wait for reinforce-"
"Hey, look over there!" a female Team Scorn grunt called out, pointing right where Dawn and the boys were hiding, "There's people over there, spying on us!"
A number of Team Scorn grunts all looked in that direction, and soon a charge of men went right at the three reborn trainers. Dawn, realizing that she, Kenny, and Trip no longer had the option for sneak attack, sent Tsukune out when Kenny sent out Black, showing off its Origin Form. Trip meanwhile sent out his recently captured alpha Hisuian Goodra Todoroki, wanting to see what all it can do to back up Palkia and Giratina.
As the Team Scorn grunts all fought against Dawn and the boys, Zed who was standing back looked on with a confident and amused smirk on his face as he held his arms behind his back. "Ah, how foolish of them," Zed remarked, "Thinking that they could pull a fast one on a Captain-ranked officer of Team Scorn. The glory defeating those three would be spies will bring me is bound to give me the boost I need for Admin Brother to promote me to First Captain of Katana Sector, pushing that stick in the mud Quaid down to Second Captain."
"Sir," Kenji began in a tired, long suffering tone, "Admin Brother demoted you down to Third Captain of the Katana Sector for your rather poor performance in Johto, remember? He even made a point of how Captain Alan rose to Second Captain as a result. There's no way that you'll jump from Third Captain to First Captain, especially given that Admin Brother isn't entirely happy with you right now."
Turning to look at Kenji who didn't turn to look at him, Zed replied, "Kenji, you're a loyal and smart Captain's Assistant. But you've earned my contempt once again by underestimating my abilities. Once the men here secure victory over those would be spies, the success I'll earn as a result will be bound to-"
"Those three trainers already took out over half the men we brought here," Kenji pointed out dryly, cutting Zed off and making him turn to see that Dawn, Kenny, and Trip had indeed already taken out at least twenty of the Team Scorn grunts at Lake Verity. Team Scorn forces at Lake Verity numbered at a total of thirty-six counting Zed and Kenji, so for their numbers to be reduced that quickly and by so small an enemy force made Zed cringe back a bit.
"This... doesn't look good," Zed said, "Kenji, you and the men stay here, meanwhile I go and get some-" Zed was cut off when he got a call on the video phone that was set up on a crate that Team Scorn brought with them. Zed rushed right over to it, hoping there'd be some good news. When he saw Admin Brother on the other end, the now Third Captain of Team Scorn's Katana Sector felt as if he was going to be relieved.
...
Back over where the reborn trainers were fighting off Team Scorn grunts, Kenny was laughing near maniacally as he rode on Black's back as the named Giratina struck down many of the opposing Pokémon that Team Scorn sent out. Similarly, Dawn was having Tsukune swamp many of Team Scorn's Pokémon with Surf, and Trip was having Todoroki fire off Dragon Pulses, Flamethrowers, Ice Beams, and Thunderbolts as quickly as possible, shooting down enemy Pokémon after enemy Pokémon. "We got them on the ropes!" Trip yelled, "Keep going!"
"How many left stand between me and the Captain that's here?" Kenny called out.
"Just focus on taking down the enemy, Kenny!" Dawn called back, "We can't afford to-"
"Hold it right here, would be heroes!" Zed called out confidently, making everyone take pause. With all eyes on him, Zed went on, "The awesome and generous Admin Brother, head of Team Scorn's Katana, who is merciful and under-"
"Zip it, Zed!" Brother's voice called out from the video phone set up, clearly sounding unamused with the brown-nosing, "Just get the trainers confronting you at Lake Verity to come over to the video phone set-up to see me."
Zed, clearly not wanting to risk upsetting his Admin, stopped short and proceeded to direct the reborn trainers down to the video phone set up. When Dawn and the boys got there, they saw to their shock and worry a defeated-looking Cynthia, being held with a kunai at her throat by Admin Ninja of Team Scorn's Kunai Sector. "Yeah," Brother said when he saw that he had the attention of the reborn trainers, "As you three can see, we got Sinnoh's former Champion at our mercy over here at Lake Valor. Granted, Captains Quaid, Alan, and Jack of my sector, Captain Ayumu of Ninja's sector, all of their respective Captain's Assistants, myself, and Ninja had to all team up on her to do so, all of those I listed aside from myself and Ninja are out of Pokémon who can battle, and Ninja and I have one Pokémon each remaining who can still battle. But we WERE able to defeat Cynthia."
The reborn trainers were shocked to hear that Cynthia was actually defeated by Team Scorn, even though it was clearly due to sheer numbers overwhelming the former Champion of Sinnoh. "...Your Captain Zed and his assistant are here at Lake Verity," Dawn mentioned, "And I failed to hear talk of Captain Katou from Ninja's sector, as well as Katou's assistant, Ninja's assistant, and your assistant."
"Katou, Akari, Felecia, and Goemon are up at Lake Acuity," Brother explained, "Going after Uxie. We here at Lake Valor have already taken down Azelf and collected from it the part it needed to donate to help Team Scorn form a Red Chain. Katou will lead the other assistants and the rank and file with them at Lake Acuity to do with Uxie what we did with Azelf. And as for the similar business with Mesprit at Lake Verity..." Brother paused, pointed at the reborn trainers. "...You all will be helping Zed and the men with him get to Mesprit and collect from it the part it needs to donate to help make the Red Chain we need."
Dawn's brows furrowed a bit. "...To summon and sub sequentially capture Dialga."
"When Ideku gets to Lake Acuity," Trip said, "He'll kick the asses of everyone there."
Brother looked mildly confused. "...Ideku? Isn't he the guy who picked off straggling Team Scorn members during our attack on Blackthorn City? I didn't hear word of any would-be heroes appearing at Lake Acuity. Akari would have instantly tried calling me otherwise the moment it occurred. Anyway, back to business. I'll allow an hour after this call ends for Zed to call me about successfully having gotten the necessary material from Mesprit for Team Scorn to make its Red Chain. If, after that hour passes, I fail to get that call, or if before the hour passes I get a call that he failed, then Ninja here will acquaint the business edge of his kunai with Cynthia's throat." Brother then ended the call without another word, letting the screen on the video phone set up turn off.
Seeing that a human life was literally hanging in the balance, Dawn and the boys literally had no choice but to comply with what Team Scorn wanted. Thusly, they had to even give Zed, Kenji, and four regular grunts transport to the island cave in the middle of Lake Verity, using Tsukune and Black to sail and fly them over. Upon reaching the island cave, they all went inside, where Mesprit sat there asleep. The instant Zed took a step forward, Mesprit instantly shot awake. It saw everyone who was there, could tell telepathically by glancing at Dawn what was going on, and gave a single, understanding nod.
Then, with great effort, Mesprit removed the crystal on its forehead, and when that happened Dawn held a hand to her head as if she had a sudden headache. Similarly, Kenny also held a hand to his head as if he got a sudden headache. "...Damn, they must have successfully gotten to Uxie," Kenny muttered as he dropped to one knee.
Smugly acquiring the crystal that Mesprit gave up, Zed said, "You see, Team Scorn always gets what it wants, and the only way for those not of Team Scorn to not struggle is to let us go about our business uncontested." Zed then had the men with him capture Mesprit in a pod that was designed to keep it from fleeing; Zed said that similar pods will be used to secure Uxie and Azelf. After everyone got back to the lake shore, Zed said to his men while gesturing to the reborn trainers, "Men, apprehend these prisoners and load them into the back of the cargo copter. It'll be a straight jaunt to Spear Pillar for us now!"
Dawn, Kenny, and Trip were alarmed, and Dawn and Kenny were just starting to get over their sudden headaches, as they were collected by the Team Scorn men and shoved into the cargo hold of a cargo copter, before that copter and a few others at Lake Verity took off to fly right to Spear Pillar. Dawn and the boys were worried that this would lead to the summoning of Dialga, and Team Scorn capturing it so that it could be used for their own ends.
END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND EIGHT
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the short problem in Oreburgh City covered, with Trip capturing the alpha Hisuian Goodra, and the heroes gaining the surprise backup of Ideku Badorigo, who was going through Sinnoh for some business like what was said a couple of chapters ago. The group then had to split up to cover more ground, and after Trip shares some info with Dawn and Kenny about what they missed in their previous lives, they had to deal with some Team Scorn trouble at Lake Verity, ultimately being forced to help Team Scorn collect from Mesprit, as well as collect Mesprit itself, when the effort at Lake Valor not only succeeded in getting both what they needed from Azelf and Azelf itself, but also took Cynthia hostage after defeating her (albeit with GREAT effort). Then the reborn trainers themselves are taken hostage before they all fly off to Spear Pillar for the climax of this mini-arc in the next chapter.
