Episode 26: Dratini Tiny Thing

A couple of days have passed since Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel have left Porta Vista. In the meantime, they made a stop by a pond and started fishing. Sora and Kairi were glad that they have gotten hold of some fishing rods before taking off.

"You sure picked a good spot to fish, Sora," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Well, it's a nice day. And hopefully, we could have a couple of good bites," Sora said. Kairi felt something pulling. "And you're the first to get one!"

"It feels strong, whatever it is!" Kairi said.

She reels it in. Out came a Goldeen. "It's a Goldeen!" Kairi took out her Pokédex.

Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokémon

Type: Water

When it is time for them to lay eggs, they can be seen swimming up rivers and falls in large groups.

She puts her Pokédex away and turned to Angel.

"You know what to do, Angel!" Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Use Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel lands a Headbutt on Goldeen, but fought back by spewing water from its mouth. "He's using Water Gun!" The water attack came too fast for Angel to dodge it. Goldeen then comes at Angel with a Horn Attack. "Use Iron Tail!" Angel swings her tail, landing a hit on the Goldfish Pokémon. Goldeen fell right on its back. Kairi took out a Pokéball and tossed it. Goldeen flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Goldeen with her. She chose to send Goldeen to Professor Oak's lab. "And I got myself a Goldeen!"

"Eevee, vee!" Angel cheered.

"Good catch, Kairi!" Sora said. He felt a tug. "Whoa! I think I got something, too!" He started to reel it in, and out came a blue Pokémon that greatly resembles a tadpole. It has It has large eyes and pink lips. a black and white swirl on its abdomen. It has no arms, but it has two legs and a long, thin tail surrounded by a light-blue, semitransparent fin. "A Poliwag!" Sora said, taking out his Pokédex.

Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokémon

Type: Water

The direction of the spiral on the belly differs by area. It is more adept at swimming than walking.

"Okay, looks like I'm about to have one of my own," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away and took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Bulbasaur!" His Pokéball opened and Bulbasaur emerged from inside.

"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said.

"Bulbasaur! Use Tackle!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur charged right at the Tadpole Pokémon. Poliwag dodged and fired bubbles right at the Seed Pokémon. "Use Razor Leaf to block that!" Bulbasaur fired Razor Leaf and the leaves cuts right through the bubbles. "Use Vine Whip!" Bulbasaur extends vines and sends them out. Poliwag dodged by jumping and then gave Bulbasaur some slaps in the face. "That was Double Slap! Bulbasaur! Use Vine Whip one more time!" Bulbasaur extends Vine Whip and lands a hit with the vines. "Use Leech Seed!" A seed sprouts from Bulbasaur's bulb and sends it right at Poliwag. The seed opens and vines surrounds the Tadpole Pokémon, draining some energy. Sora then took out a Pokéball and threw it. Poliwag flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Poliwag with him. He chose to keep Poliwag in exchange for the male Nidoran. "There! Got myself a Poliwag!"

"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.

"A wonderful catch, Sora," Kairi said. She felt a tug on her fishing pole. "Oh, I got something!" She starts to pull it in, and it shows another Poliwag, much like the one Sora caught a little while ago. "Poliwag!"

"Here's your chance to catch one, too!" Sora said.

"Right," Kairi said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Cleffa!" Her Pokéball opened and Cleffa came on out. "Use Pound!" Cleffa lands a Pound on Poliwag, but it fight back with a Water Gun in the face. "Cleffa! Use Magical Leaf!" Cleffa has created several leaves, flashing in multiple colors and sends them at Poliwag, landing a hit. "Use Pound!" Cleffa lands a Pound on Poliwag. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it at the Poliwag, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Poliwag with her. She chose to send her new Poliwag to Professor Oak's lab. "That was a good job, Cleffa!"

"Cleffa, Cleffa, Cleffa!" Cleffa cheered just before she started to evolve. Much to the surprise to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, Cleffa has now become a Clefairy. "Clefairy."

"You're a Clefairy now! You're still pretty cute," Kairi said.

"Clefairy," the newly evolved Clefairy said.

"Not only you got yourself a Poliwag of your own, but now Cleffa evolved right into a Clefairy. Sweet!" Sora said. He felt a tug on his fishing pole. "Whoa! I got something big!" Sora starts reeling it in. "Kairi, I'm gonna need a hand pulling it in!"

"Right!" Kairi said. She helps Sora pull on the fishing pole. They wondered if it was something like a Gyarados. They had to pull and find out. With one, good yank, something came out of the water. The figure went high in the sun, making Sora and Kairi see what it was. The figure came down fast and lands right on top of Sora. "Sora! Are you okay?" Sora was in a daze as the figure is revealed to be a serpentine Pokémon with a blue body and a white underside. It has white, three-pronged fins on the sides of its head and a white bump on its forehead, which is its horn growing. Above its round, white snout are oval, purple eyes. Sora managed to get up and he sees the little Pokémon right in front of his feet. He gasped in awe.

"Is that what I think it is?!" Sora exclaimed. He took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Dratini, the Dragon Pokémon

Type: Dragon

Dratini continually molts and sloughs off its old skin. It does so because the life energy within its body steadily builds to reach uncontrollable levels.

"It is. A Dratini, a Dragon-type Pokémon! I could use a Pokémon like this one," Sora said. Dratini woke up and sees Sora. "Hi." Dratini gets in position to battle. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go for it, Squirtle!" Squirtle came out of the Pokéball with a twirl.

"Squirtle!" Squirtle said.

"Squirtle! Skull Bash!" Sora ordered. Squirtle lowered his head and charged at the Dratini. The move does hit. Dratini counters by firing Dragon Rage at Squirtle. The attack does hit. Dratini wraps its body around Squirtle. Squirtle tried to struggle out, but Squirtle does slips out. "Aqua Tail!" Squirtle slams into Dratini again and the move sends it flying in the air. Sora was sure that it was worn out enough. He took out a Pokéball and threw it at the Dratini. The Pokéball wobbles around and around violently the same way as Gyarados. But stars swirls around the ball confirming the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Dratini with him. He chose to keep Dratini in exchange for the female Nidoran. "I got me a Dratini!"

"Pi, Pika, Pika, Pikachu!" Pikachu cheered.

"Eevee, vee!" Angel added.

"Congratulations on your catch, Sora. I think that's enough fishing for now, Sora," Kairi said. Clouds are forming above them, and it started raining.

"You're right. It's starting to rain," Sora said as he, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel ran towards a nearby cave. "That was close."

"It's better to be in a cave than under a tree," Kairi said. Lightning crashes. "Because of that."

"Eevee," Angel said.

"At least we're dry right in here," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Our families sure wouldn't like it if we caught a cold in this weather," Kairi said.

"I'd feel sorry for the sucker got caught in this weather," Sora said.

Over to Team Rocket, they were flying around in their balloon, and being caught by a heavy wind that suddenly came from out of nowhere.

"How is it that we get caught in a sudden downpour, and then caught in a gust of a gust?!" James exclaimed.

"Shut up and keep the balloon stable!" Jessie shouted.

"Isn't flying around in a hot air balloon in a thunderstorm a tad dangerous?" Meowth asked.

"What are you worried about? We're perfectly safe!" Jessie said.

"Meowth does have a point, Jess! Also, we would have a really hard time controlling it in this kind of weath-" James was cut off when Team Rocket fell off the balloon and right in the middle of the forest, screaming as they fell. -"er."

"At least nothing else can happen to us," Meowth said. Lightning strikes them on the spot. Somehow, they survived the lightning strike. "The only good thing about lightning is, they don't strike the same place twice in a row." And the bolt of lightning does strike them again in the same spot. "Then again, maybe not." Team Rocket groaned in pain. "At least nothing el-" Jessie and James grabbed Meowth by the mouth, keeping him quiet.

"FOR BADDNESS SAKE, DON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD!" Jessie exclaimed.

"WE DON'T WANT YOU TO JINX IT!" James exclaimed.

Just then a powerful gust of wind blows and they went flying in the air.

"Team Rocket is blasting off again!" Jessie yelled.

"And we didn't even do anything bad yet!" James added.

"Why does the universe hate us?!" Meowth yelled.

Over to Gastly, it found shelter in a tree, finding refuge from the blowing wind.

Back to the cave, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were watching the weather go out of control. Sora gave a small whistle.

"Look at it go. If we haven't found this cave, catching a cold would have been the least of our worries," Sora said. He saw Kairi was shivering. Thinking fast, he took out his sleeping bag and unzipped it all the way. He wrapped it around the both of them to keep warm. Kairi's face flushed pink.

"Sora, what are you doing?" Kairi asked.

"Just thinking of it as a good way to keep warm; besides, I saw how cold you were getting," Sora said.

"I appreciate it, Sora," Kairi said. "Thank you." Sora started to blush as he kept the sleeping bag close to her. They stayed put for as long as the weather was still going. Thunder roared and lightning flashed. Kairi was glad Sora was around. She always felt safe with him around.

On the very next morning, the weather cleared up, leaving nothing behind but a mess. They saw a rainbow, shining down from the sky.

"Look at that. It's such a beautiful rainbow, isn't it?" Sora asked.

"It sure is," Kairi agreed.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"It's lucky that we got to see it," Sora said.

"Yeah," Kairi said. She smiled as she remembered the night before as she felt warm in Sora's sleeping bag, feeling his warmth.

Over to Team Rocket, they are hanging by a cliff, holding on to dear life.

"Good thing we caught this tree branch before we could go for the fall," Meowth said.

"It would have been nastier than the fall Humpty Dumpty had," James said.

"Just don't look down!" Jessie said. The branch broke and they started to fall. They screamed as they fell. They land right to the bottom, leaving wholes shaped just like them right in the ground. They each come out, moaning in pain.

"It's a miracle we survived that," James said.

"Good thing," Meowth said.

"I don't know about the two of you, but I think I'm going to lay down until I don't hurt anymore," Jessie said.

"Not a bad idea, Jess," James said.

"I could lay down and let my aching bones heal up," Meowth said.

They fell back in the holes and laid there. I think we'll leave them here to let them heal for a while.

Meanwhile, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made their way through the forest and they heard something coming towards them. It turns out to be a tall, bird Pokémon. resembling an ostrich. It has two heads that are exactly identical. It is covered in brown down and has large taloned feet. It has a black neck on each head.

"A Doduo," Kairi said. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Doduo, the Twin Bird Pokémon

Type: Normal/Flying

Its short wings make flying difficult. Instead, this Pokémon runs at high speed on developed legs.

Doduo came right at Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel.

"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at Doduo, landing a hit. Doduo came at Pikachu with a Quick Attack, and then gave jumped in the air and was coming down fast.

"Sora! That's Jump Kick!" Kairi gasped.

"Eevee!" Angel gasped.

"Pikachu!" Sora called out. Doduo came too fast for Pikachu to dodge so Pikachu was kicked mighty hard. Sora manages to catch Pikachu in his arms. "You okay, Pikachu?"

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Take a rest for right now," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it at. "Go! Dratini!" His Pokéball opened and Dratini emerged from inside. Doduo came at the Dragon Pokémon with Quick Attack, but Dratini dodged with ease. "Dratini! Use Dragon Rage!" Dratini unleashed Dragon Rage, landing a hit. "Now, use Twister!" Dratini let out a little cry, creating a tornado. The tornado heads towards the Twin Bird Pokémon, catching it in the mix. Doduo fell right on the ground, beaten from the attack. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at the Twin Bird Pokémon, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Doduo with him. He chose to send Doduo to Professor Oak's lab. "Good work, Dratini!" The Dragon Pokémon beamed from the praise and nuzzled him. Sora bent down and he pets Dratini on the head. "Not bad for your first battle, huh?"

"Impressive," a girl's voice spoke. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel turned to see a girl wearing, green Chinese-style clothing. She has black hair and emerald green eyes. She also wore green heels. "Your Dratini has some real potential."

"Thanks," Sora said.

"How long did you have that Dratini if I may ask," the girl asked.

"Since yesterday," Sora said.

"And yet, I can sense how you are already close," the girl said.

"Who are you?" Kairi asked.

"I am Brianna. Brianna the Dragon Seeker," Brianna said.

"Dragon Seeker?" Sora and Kairi both asked at once.

"Yes. I seek Dragons, be they Pokémon or not," Brianna said.

"Okay, I get the Dragon Seeker part. But I thought dragons are like mythical much like unicorns, griffins, and trolls," Sora said.

"That is what you would think, but the truth is, dragons actually existed in this world along with humans and Pokémon long ago," Brianna said.

"Yeah, right," Sora said under his breath.

"Sora, you would never know," Kairi whispered. "I mean, if ghosts are real, then certainly dragons are real, too, right?"

"Yeah, right. Next thing you know, you would tell me that elves, dwarves, and leprechauns are real, too," Sora whispered. "And by dwarves, I actually mean Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, and Dopey." Brianna cleared her throat.

"If you are done talking among yourselves, I believe I was talking," Brianna said.

"Sorry. It's just, we never expected anyone to say that there were actual dragons living in the world," Kairi said.

"Yeah, unexpected," Sora said.

"I know it sounds silly, but it's actually true," Brianna said. "Dragons lived in this world long ago. We saw them living in caves on mountains, and in the sea; just like the Pokémon."

"If what you say is true, then why do you believe in dragons so much?" Sora asked.

"I'll be more than happy to answer your question. When I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated with dragons. I read all about them in books. I was always wondering why they breathed fire and how powerful are their wings when they fly. And can dragons eat gems or sleep on gold, and why did they ever leave," Brianna said.

"That doesn't really answer anything," Sora pointed out.

"No, it doesn't. You see, one day when I was out on a hill, I saw a sight I never thought I would see. It was an actual dragon. At first I thought it was a Dragon-type Pokémon, but a Dragon-type Pokémon doesn't give off the same kind of vibes that a real dragon would have. I saw it as clear as I see the two of you. It was large and red. Red as a Scizor. It had scales that sparkles like diamonds, and it has wings as wide as a mansion. And it has a tail as long as a whip. I wasn't scared of seeing it, I was amazed to actually see one. I wanted to have a much closer look. But somehow, the dragon could smell me and it turned around. The dragon breathed its flames at me, so I got out of there. It turned into a huge forest fire. The townspeople saw the smoke and fought to put out the flames. When I told the adults what I saw, they didn't believe me. No one believed me. They always told me that dragons never did exist. But I knew what I saw. And I will never forget what I saw," Brianna explained her story.

"Wow, that's quite a story," Sora said.

"Ever since then, I have dedicated my life into rediscovering dragons, and show the world the true existence of dragons," Brianna said.

"You sure sound certain," Kairi said.

"And why shouldn't I be? I'll never give up my search," Brianna said.

"Well, I hope you do find what you're looking for," Sora said.

"Thanks," Brianna said. "But before you go, I was wondering if you would like to have a battle with me. And the Pokémon the I want to battle is your Dratini."

"Um, okay," Sora said.

"Wonderful," Brianna said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Dragoniar!" The Pokéball opened to reveal a long, serpentine Pokémon with sky blue scales and a white underside. It has a rounded snout, oval purple eyes, and a small, white horn on its forehead. On each side of its head is a small, stylized wing, which is white and curves into a swirl at the base. Three blue, crystal orbs adorn its body: one on its neck and two on its tail. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Dragonair, the Dragon Pokémon

The evolved form of Dratini

Type: Dragon

Dragonair stores an enormous amount of energy inside its body. It is said to alter weather conditions in its vicinity by discharging energy from the crystals on its neck and tail.

"Wow, that's what Dratini will evolve into," Sora said.

"Be careful, Sora. Dratini is at a huge disadvantage because he's up against his evolved form, and Dragon-type Pokémon are weak against Dragon-type moves," Kairi said.

"Gotcha," Sora said. He looked right at Dratini. "Okay, Dratini. Go!" Dratini crawled right into battle and looked right at his evolved form.

"You can have the first move," Brianna said.

"Dratini! Use Twister!" Sora ordered. Dratini unleashed a tornado right towards Dragoniar.

"Dodge and use Twister as well!" Brianna ordered. Dragonair unleashed another tornado right at Dratini, landing a hit. It was a super-effective hit. "Now, use Dragon Tail!" Dragonair's tail becomes covered in a green, scale-patterned aura. It then hits Dratini hard, dealing some additional damage.

"Dratini! Use Dragon Rage!" Sora ordered. Dratini unleashed Dragon Rage, dealing some damage. "Use Twister!" Dratini unleashed Twister, dealing some additional damage just like the one Dragonair has dealt to Dratini. "That's great, Dratini! Use Wrap!" Dratini jumped towards Dragoniar and started to squeeze.

"Dragoniar! Use Dragon Tail!" Brianna ordered. Dragoniar lands another hit with Dragon Tail. "Use Dragon Rush!" Dragonair's body becomes outlined in light blue. Its body then becomes surrounded in a light blue aura with lighter blue stripes of aura on the outside. Dragonair then slammed right into Dratini, dealing some more damage. Dratini was down, but not out.

"Hang in there, Dratini! Use Dragon Rage!" Sora ordered. Dratini unleashed another Dragon Rage right at Dragonair.

"Dodge and use one more Dragon Tail!" Brianna ordered. Dragonair slammed its tail right on Dratini. Dratini had been taken down. Sora has lost the battle.

"Dratini!" Sora said. He helped Dratini up. "You okay?" Dratini gave off a small squeak.

"Hey, you battled great. You'll do better next time," Sora said.

"He's right, Dratini," Briana said. She carried a yellow Berry that looked like a citron. "Here, eat this Sitrus Berry." Dratini ate the Berry, healing its injuries. "Stay with him, and you can be the best Dragon-type Pokémon there can ever be. You're gonna be one fine Dragonite when you evolve." Dratini beamed.

"You sure know the right thing to say," Sora said.

"It helps when you understand dragons like I can," Brianna said.

"Understand this!" A new voice called out. They turned to see Team Rocket in a dragon hot air balloon this time. It turns out it was Meowth who said that.

"Man, can't these guys ever take a hint?" Sora asked as he sighed in annoyance.

"That'll be asking for too much of a good thing, Sora," Kairi said.

"Prepare for trouble!"

"And make it double!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth! That's right!"

"Mime, Mime, Mime!"

"You're Team Rocket!" Brianna said. "The organization who uses Pokémon for evil!"

"It looks like we got us a fan," Jessie said.

"She doesn't sound like any fan to me," Sora said.

"Now, we're here to nab Pikachu, along with Dratini and Dragonair!" James said.

"Let's get right to it!" Jessie said.

They were about to get right to it when a ball of fire destroyed their balloon, sending them flying in the air.

"Second time in a row something goes wrong!" Jessie hissed.

"And we didn't even get to try out our new toys," James said.

"The universe must really hate us to let this happen to us," Meowth said.

"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket shouted as a star twinkles in the distance.

Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were dumbfounded by what just happened.

"Wow, Team Rocket blew it again, and we weren't the ones who blew them away," Sora said.

"No, but that did," Brianna said. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel looked at where Brianna was pointing at and they were awestruck by what they saw. It was an actual dragon flying above them. It was exactly how Brianna described it. It was red all over. "It was great meeting you, but I'm off to track down that dragon!"

"Hey, wait!" Sora called out. Sora turned to the dragon, flying above them, still amazed. He, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel stared at the dragon until it was completely out of sight. "I tell ya, Kairi, you were definitely right. If ghosts exist, then dragons do exist."

"You sound amazed," Kairi said.

"Well, I'm entitled to be," Sora said.

"You're right, you are. Also, I was amazed by it, too," Kairi said. "You think anyone will believe us that we've seen a real dragon?"

"I don't think so," Sora said. "I think this is left untold."

"Yeah, let's leave it at that," Kairi said.

With that matter settled, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel continued on their way towards Fushia City for Sora's fifth Gym battle. And the adventures ahead of them might get exciting ahead of them, so stay tuned for what's coming next!
