Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter One-hundred and twelve: Museum Madness
The swift but sure driving of the busses got the field trips from the Route 3 preschool and the trainer school in Striaton City over to Nacrene City within due time. Getting off of the bus that the preschoolers rode in on were Dawn, Kenny, and Trip. The three reborn trainers, each of them carrying a Pokémon egg, stood off to the side as the preschool teacher Daniela led all of the kids off of the bus. Dawn turned her head and saw the bus with the field trip from Striaton City's trainer school pull up next to Nacrene City's Pokémon Center, where the preschool bus had already pulled up next to.
As Daniela was doing a headcount to make sure that all of the kids from the preschool were present, the reborn trainers saw Cress and Chili, two of the three Striaton gym leader brothers, get off of the bus from the Striaton City trainer school. Those brothers, much the same as Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, were helping to chaperone this field trip that the two schools were taking to the museum located in Nacrene City. The reason for the field trips to the Nacrene City museum was due to how it currently was running an exhibit on Sinnoh's Hisuian period, and the teachers of both schools thought their students could learn a lot from it.
As the students from both schools were being rounded up and given their instructions on how to behave, the reborn trainers looked on. "...Well here's hoping that THIS Hisuian exhibit at a museum doesn't end up blowing up in our faces," Kenny muttered to Dawn and Trip, "Especially since there's a number of kids younger than us here who could potentially get hurt if things do end up going south."
"Especially if Team Scorn is involved somehow," Trip muttered in agreement.
"We'll need to come up with a plan on ensuring the safety of the students," Dawn muttered to the boys, "Okay. I got Chi-Chi, Germany, Leni, Tsukune, Phoebe, and this egg as my on-hand party. Boys, what are your respective on-hand par-"
"Dawn? Kenny? Trip?"
Dawn was cut off when she and the boys heard a familiar male voice calling out to them. Turning around, the reborn trainers saw Ideku Badorigo walk up to them. He was accompanied by a Pansage. "Oh, Ideku!" Dawn said, "What brings you here to Nacrene City?"
Ideku took out and held up a Basic Badge. "I recently earned the Basic Badge from Lenora, the gym leader here in Nacrene City." Ideku put his Basic Badge away. "Did you know that she's also the director of the Nacrene City Museum? I wanted to check it out, especially since I heard they're running an exhibit on the Hisuian period of Sinnoh's history."
"Just like the museum back in Oreburgh City," Kenny remarked, "Sorry again how I couldn't let you in to help out. Things got pretty chaotic."
As Ideku nodded in understanding, Dawn looked at his Pansage. "I see you got yourself a Pansage."
"Oh, you mean Vegichita here?" Ideku said, "Yeah, I caught her in Pinwheel Forest late afternoon yesterday after I defeated Lenora." Arching a wry eyebrow, Ideku went on, "If you guys would like, I could give you some hints on what to expect."
Trip nodded in appreciation. "That would be chill, thanks."
Ideku nodded in return before taking note of the Pokémon eggs the three reborn trainers were all carrying. "Where did you guys get the Pokémon eggs from?"
"They were given to us by the staff of the Daycare next to the preschool on Route 3," Dawn said, "Given that Kenny, Trip, and I are helping to chaperone a field trip to the Nacrene City Museum so the kids can see the Hisuian period exhibit as well. There's also a field trip from the trainer school in Striaton City here to see that Hisuian period exhibit as well."
Ideku's eyes widened a bit out of surprise. "...That's kind of worrisome, actually. I still remember what happened in Oreburgh City. I hope that a repeat performance won't end up occurring here."
"Well there's powerful trainers here to help fend off any possible attack by Team Scorn aiming to screw with the Hisuian exhibit," Kenny said. Gesturing to Ideku, Kenny went on, "Present company included."
The roaming trainer nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you can count on me to help fight off Team Scorn."
It was as the four trainers were talking that Daniela came walking up to Dawn and the boys. "We're going to have to wait a little longer before the field trip can be taken over to the museum to see the Hisuian exhibit, I'm afraid," Daniela said, "We- oh!" Stopping short upon seeing Ideku, Daniela said, "Are you a friend of theirs?"
"Yeah, this is Ideku," Dawn said, "Kenny and I ran into him a few times when we traveled through Johto and Hoenn, then the three of us and Trip met up in Sinnoh before we came here to Unova. Ideku left and came here separately, though."
Ideku nodded in confirmation. "Yeah. So what's this about the field trip needing to wait longer before heading off to the museum?"
Gesturing to Ideku and the reborn trainers, Daniela explained, "We got it that Lenora can't be reached right now, with the man we talked to over the phone saying Lenora's busy trying to make things perfect at the museum for greeting the field trip as she wants to make a good impression on the kids, especially the ones from the preschool that I work at. The man said that Lenora needs about an hour by Lenora's own estimation. We can't go without Lenora coming here and bringing us with her to the museum."
Gesturing to himself, Ideku said, "Let me go to the museum, see if I can convince Lenora that the students in the field trip will be perfectly happy just to see her and getting to check out the Hisuian period exhibit." Daniela nodded in thanks to Ideku and, after he recalled Vegichita, turned around and left to go to the Nacrene City Museum to rouse Lenora's attention.
After Ideku was gone, Dawn turned to look at the boys and Daniela. "You think he'll be successful?"
"Ideku's a solid guy," Kenny said, "We can trust him."
About twenty minutes later, the field trip was still waiting outside of the Nacrene City Pokémon Center. In that time, Dawn and the boys took to getting some steps in towards getting their eggs to hatch by walking around the Pokémon Center's perimeter, explaining to Daniela that they were restless in waiting for Ideku to get back to them, preferably with Lenora in tow. It was right when Dawn, Kenny, and Trip completed their fifteenth lap around the Nacrene City Pokémon Center, reaching the front doors in the process, that a fair skinned man in a gray suit with light green dress suit underneath came running up, clearly alarmed.
"Umm, excuse me sir," Daniela said as the reborn trainers joined her, "But what seems to be the matter? Also, could we get your name?"
"I'm Hawes," replied the now identified Hawes, "The assistant director of the museum. Anyway, I need the help of three trainers that I was told can be found here with the field trip waiting for my wife Lenora to come get them for the tour of the museum and its limited time Hisuian period display. Three trainers that a boy named Ideku said are called Dawn, Kenny, and Trip."
"Yo, that's us," Kenny said, he and the others instantly on alert when Hawes said Ideku gave him their names so he could get their help.
"What's the situation?" Dawn asked, fully serious.
"Lenora was getting a few last minute details for the field trip ready," Hawes said, "Making Ideku who came to get her wait, when suddenly a bunch of members of that horrid Team Scorn organization swarmed in!"
It was just as the reborn trainers had feared; Team Scorn really was after something in the museum, most likely the Hisuian period exhibit. "...I have a question about the Hisuian period exhibit, Mr. Hawes," Dawn began, her tone holding a hint of cautious worry.
Hawes turned to focus mainly on Dawn. "What is it, young lady?"
"The Hisuian period exhibit," Dawn went on, "By any chance, does it include the skeletal remains of an alpha Hisuian Pokémon?"
The museum's assistant director looked a bit surprised. "...Yes, actually," Hawes replied, "Why do you ask?"
"Because the last two times Kenny and I went to museums that had Hisuian period exhibits," Dawn began, "They also had skeletal remains of at least one alpha Hisuian Pokémon as part of the exhibit."
"Both museums also had teams that could revive Pokémon from fossils with their special tech," Kenny went on, "And said fossil revival tech that the teams had was used on the skeletal remains of the alpha Hisuian Pokémon, bringing living breathing alpha Hisuian Pokémon into the modern today times."
Hawes's eyes widened a bit in surprise. "...The Nacrene City Museum also has a fossil revival team on staff," Hawes said, his expression and tone showing that he could see where this could be heading, "And their tech to revive Pokémon from fossils is functioning perfectly right now."
"How many alpha Hisuian Pokémon skeletal remains do you have as part of your museum's display of the Hisuian period?" Trip asked.
Holding up his right index finger, Hawes replied, "Just one. An alpha Hisuian Typhlosion."
"How many Team Scorn members are at the museum?" Dawn asked.
"I counted twelve," Hawes answered, "Including one in a unique outfit. A young girl from the looks of her, probably the same age as you three. She had a Flapple perched on her right shoulder as she and a rank-and-file Team Scorn member standing close to her were leading the others."
The reborn trainers were surprised to hear that someone who's obviously a Team Scorn officer was a girl who looked to be about the same age as them. Judging by how Hawes said a Team Scorn rank-and-file stuck close to the girl, the girl had to be a Captain while her close follower was her Captain's Assistant. Captain's Assistants had to wear the same outfit as standard grunts of Team Scorn despite how serving a Captain directly makes them somewhat more notable than standard grunts, despite how Officer's Assistants are all technically at the grunt level.
What also surprised Dawn and the boys was how this girl apparently has a Flapple perching on her shoulders; Flapple is a species of Pokémon native to the Galar region, which comes way later after Unova. But then again, the reborn trainers, thanks to Team Scorn, have seen Pokémon from regions they haven't gone to yet. The Admin in charge of the Longsword Sector of Team Scorn, the sector that's mainly running Team Scorn shenanigans in Unova, was reported to have an Aegislash. And if what the three of them fear is true, Team Scorn is trying to set things up to net themselves an alpha Hisuian Typhlosion.
Acting quickly, Dawn and the boys left their respective Pokémon eggs with Daniela. "We're going to the museum to try to help Ideku and Lenora fight off Team Scorn," Dawn said, "Please make sure everyone who's here knows, and direct all students regardless of what school they're from to hide in the Pokémon Center. If possible, send Cress and Chili as backup to help fight off Team Scorn if necessary."
"There is no way the field trip's going to the museum now," Daniela replied as she proceeded to handle the eggs for the reborn trainers, "Good luck in fighting off all of those criminals." Without a moment to lose, Dawn and the boys proceeded to run straight for the Nacrene City Museum to fight off Team Scorn and to help Ideku and Lenora out of the jam they're in.
Meanwhile, over at the museum, people were running around in panic as Team Scorn members were going about the place. Two were supervising the museum's fossil revival team as they worked, while a uniquely dressed girl in Team Scorn yellow and dark blue, accompanied by a standard dressed female Team Scorn grunt with dark hair, were trying to battle Ideku and Lenora, who had Armaldo and Herdier out respectively against the girl captain's Flapple and the female grunt's Patrat. Lenora looked concerned, as if she were on the ropes. But the members of Team Scorn that she faced weren't doing so hot either.
The uniquely dressed Team Scorn officer girl had honey brown hair in twin pigtails, each on one side of her head and bound with simple yellow ornaments. She wore a yellow coat with dark blue highlights, with the shoulders, armpits, and sides uncovered; a dark blue metal chest plate with a yellow Team Scorn shield insignia (and dark blue Team Scorn 'S') covered her upper torso, over a dark blue sleeveless top worn under the metal chest plate. She wore a yellow skirt with dark blue highlights, matching stockings, and matching shoes.
The uniquely dressed Team Scorn officer girl glared at Ideku and Lenora as she and the grunt with her were trying to fight them off. "...I will admit," the Team Scorn officer girl said, "The two of you are putting up one heck of a fight. But then again one of you is a gym leader while the other one is a roaming trainer that has popped up on Team Scorn's radar before."
"Heh," Ideku laughed in a bemused tone, "I was going to say something similar about you putting up a decent fight." It was as Ideku and Lenora were fighting off the members of Team Scorn that they were fighting that the reborn trainers came rushing in, beating away three Team Scorn grunts in the process.
Dawn pointed right at the Team Scorn officer girl, surprised to see that she really did look to be the same (biological) age as Dawn and the boys. "You must be the Team Scorn officer leading the attack on the Nacrene City Museum."
The Team Scorn officer girl let out an unamused hmph. "That's right. I'm Captain Hidaka, Fourth Captain of Team Scorn's Longsword Sector. Anyway, I'll deal with you and your companions here after I'm through with fighting the would-be hero before me and his companion Lenora the gym leader."
Trip turned his attention to look at Lenora. "...Kenny, Dawn, and I will want to speak with you about arranging to challenge your gym after we help drive Team Scorn out of Nacrene City."
Lenora smirked in amusement. "I'll be all ears for that. But for now, I'm sure that I speak for Ideku here when I say the both of us would really appreciate some help in dealing with Te-"
"REEEHHHHRAAHHHHREEEHHHH!"
Lenora was cut off when she and everyone else heard a loud and angry Pokémon cry sound out, making them all tense up out of worry. A few moments later, two panicked looking Team Scorn grunts came running by. "You two!" Hidaka called out, making the grunts stop and turn to look at her, "You're supposed to be keeping an eye on the fossil revival team to make sure that they use their fossil revival tech on the skeletal remains of the alpha Hisuian Pokémon that's part of the museum's Hisuian period display! Why are you running away?"
"The revival process was successful, ma'am," the first grunt said, "And there's now a giant and angry Typhlosion rampaging about! It knocked out all of our Pokémon when we tried subduing it!"
At that moment, everyone heard something running for them, and upon turning to see what it was, they were all surprised to see an alpha Hisuian Typhlosion running right for them. At Hidaka's direction, her Flapple and her assistant's Patrat went after the Typhlosion, but it knocked both of them out with a single Swift attack. It then struck down Lenora's Herdier with Flamethrower when the canine Pokémon turned to challenge it and Typhlosion saw it. Hidaka and her assistant ended up fleeing with the two grunts already in the process of fleeing, and Lenora took a cautious step back while recalling her Herdier.
The leader of the Nacrene City gym scowled a bit out of worry. "Damn. Herdier was my last Pokémon who could still fight. That little Team Scorn brat took out my Watchog with her Flapple."
Dawn, Kenny, and Trip each readied a pokéball to send out a Pokémon to help subdue the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, but before they could send their Pokémon out, Ideku said, "Garnele, use Rock Tomb!"
Ideku took the initiative in fighting the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, having his named Armaldo hit it with Rock Tomb and doing a fair chunk of damage. Typhlosion retaliated by using Swift, but it didn't do much to a partial rock type like Armaldo. "Garnele, use Liquidation!" Ideku called out. The named Armaldo cloaked itself in water before violently crashing into the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, making it cry out in pain. Typhlosion then hit Garnele with Flamethrower, scoring a fair hit on it. Rock type it may be, Armaldo is also a bug type, so fire will do some damage. Not only that, but Garnele was actually burned by the Flamethrower.
Worried about his Armaldo's burn being a liability, Ideku switched it out of battle. "Go, Snobilikat!" Ideku said as he sent his Persian out. Typhlosion then conjured a myriad of spooky looking fireballs that all flew right at Snobilikat. Oddly enough, however, the attack had no effect on the named Persian. Pointing forward, Ideku said, "Use Power Gem!" The named Persian conjured brightly shining shots of light that it cast right at the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, making it cry out in pain as it stumbled back a bit. To the surprise of Dawn and Kenny, Typhlosion then used Shadow Ball, but it had no effect when it hit Snobilikat.
"Use Dark Pulse!" Ideku called out. Snobilikat conjured and cast a dark colored pulsing aura beam that struck Typhlosion, pushing the alpha Hisuian Pokémon back and making it collapse onto the floor. It panted hard out of exhaustion, and seeing that it wasn't going to try to get up, Ideku took the opportunity to take out and throw an Ultra Ball at it, calling out, "Go Ultra Ball!" The Ultra Ball flew at Typhlosion, hit it, took it inside, then fell lightly to the floor. It shook for a few moments before it made a ping sound, indicating capture.
With the situation now contained, Dawn took a look around the museum; as it turned out, all of Team Scorn at the museum had fled, then vacated out of Nacrene City as a whole. There was some damage to some parts of Hisuian period exhibit, and there was apparently a suit of armor worn by a notable person who lived during the Hisuian period that was part of the exhibit but Team Scorn stole all of that suit of armor unfortunately enough. The persons in charge of the Hisuian period exhibit were no doubt going to be upset by the theft of that armor.
Still, it was clear to the heroes that Team Scorn's primary goal was to use the Nacrene City Museum's fossil revival team to revive an alpha Hisuian Typhlosion from the skeletal remains that were part of the exhibit so they could capture it, although for what purpose the heroes didn't know. Although successful in reviving the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, Team Scorn was NOT successful in CAPTURING it. And they'll never be successful in capturing it, given that it had been caught by Ideku, who as a result of capturing it brought the Team Scorn caused chaos in Nacrene City to an end.
Speaking of, the persons running the Hisuian period exhibit at the Nacrene City Museum had no issues with allowing Ideku to keep the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, citing how they lacked the capabilities to care for it. Ideku also discovered that Typhlosion's myriad fireball attack is called Infernal Parade and, despite looking like it was a fire type attack, it was actually a ghost type attack, thus explaining why the normal type Snobilikat was immune to it. "So Ideku," Kenny began when everyone met up at the local Pokémon Center, with Kenny, Dawn, and Trip having gotten their respective Pokémon eggs back, "You planning on naming your Typhlosion?"
Ideku nodded in the affirmative. "I've already named him Tornupto."
"Well the field trip's a bust," Daniela said as she walked up to the heroes, getting their attention, "Given part of the exhibit was wrecked, another part was stolen, and a third part was revived into a living Pokémon and captured. Not to mention how Team Scorn was behind all of it, aside from capturing the Pokémon that was revived."
"I got it that the field trips from the preschool and the trainer school have to head straight back to their respective schools?" Trip asked.
Daniela let out a sarcastic scoff of a laugh. "There was a Team Scorn attack here in Nacrene City, and at the very place the students of both schools were set to go to! It shouldn't take a genius to do the math and see that continuing the field trip would be a terrible idea right now. I bet the parents of the preschoolers in particular are all in a mad dash trying to get a hold of me so they can see if their kids are alright."
Dawn gave an understanding nod. Although the field trips had to head on back to their respective schools, the reborn trainers stayed in Nacrene City, partly to look out for any possible further Team Scorn activity, and also they all had to challenge Lenora to gym battles in their respective bids to earn a Basic Badge each. Ideku, having already earned a Basic Badge, only needed his Pokémon to be rested at the local Pokémon Center before he would be able to get going onto the next destination in his own quest to earn Unova gym badges, that being Castelia City.
...
After the field trips had left to return to their respective schools, Dawn and the boys took to walking around Nacrene City. In addition to Ideku, Lenora also needed to have her Pokémon rested, and she'll have time today to take only one challenge from the reborn trainers; the three of them agreed to have Trip go first. In the time between now and Lenora being able to take Trip's challenge, the reborn trainers walked around Nacrene City in order to get steps in towards the goal of getting their respective Pokémon eggs to hatch.
They were ultimately successful, partly due to how they got a fair chunk of steps in earlier, just before Lenora's Watchog and Herdier were ready for the battle against Trip. The three eggs all hatched, netting Dawn a Snubbull, Trip a Golett, and Kenny a Zorua. While Golett had no gender, Snubbull turned out to be male while Zorua turned out to be female. Kenny, his eyes shining, practically sparkling, with excitement held up his newly hatched Zorua. "...You shall be Kyo," Kenny declared as he named his young Zorua. For her part, the now dubbed Kyo gave a happy sounding cry.
Pointing at his Golett, Trip said, "You shall be named AkiBot 966."
"That's..." Kenny said, having heard what Trip named his Golett, "...That's an interesting name."
"It's a reference to a show Trip likes," Dawn said, leaving out the fact that said show existed back in their previous lives. Looking down at her Snubbull, Dawn said, "I'm going to be naming you Sluggo." After the newly hatched Pokémon were all checked out by the Nurse Joy at the local Pokémon Center and all given clean bills of health, the reborn trainers made their way over to where Lenora had the Nacrene City gym, which surprisingly enough was a stadium room hidden within the confines of the Nacrene City Museum.
There, Trip had his fated battle against Lenora. Despite the effort Lenora put up, Trip was able to defeat her, using Fourze to take out both Watchog and Herdier. It was partly Lenora's own fault that she lost, given she had Watchog use Thunderbolt on Fourze, unaware that the named Electivire's ability is Motor Drive. Lenora awarded Trip the Basic Badge before turning to tell Dawn and Kenny that their challenges would have to wait until tomorrow. They understood, especially given what all had gone on that day with Team Scorn trying to get up in everyone's faces.
The reborn trainers went back to the local Pokémon Center and got lodging in the bunk room for the night. In the morning, it would be Dawn who would first take a crack at challenging Lenora, then Kenny will get the next shot later in the day. The reborn trainers still had some time to spend in Nacrene City before they would be able to move on to their next destination.
END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWELVE
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the second time Team Scorn interferes with a Hisuian period exhibit at a museum, even getting away with a consolation prize as they couldn't get the alpha Hisuian Typhlosion that was revived from the skeletal remains that were part of the exhibit. The eggs that the reborn trainers got also hatched, netting Dawn, Trip, and Kenny a Snubbull, a Golett, and a Zorua respectively. And Lenora was able to squeeze in one challenge from one of the reborn trainers, taking on and going down to Trip as a result. Dawn's and Kenny's challenges will occur in the next chapter before Dawn and the boys leave for Pinwheel Forest, going through there in order to get to Skyarrow Bridge, and going across that to ultimately reach Castelia City. Peace out.
