Episode 31: Koga the Poisonous Ninja Master
After a good night sleep, Sora thought a lot of which of his Pokémon to use in his next Gym battle since learning Koga uses Poison-type Pokémon. He took out his Pokémon Box and he goes over it.
"Okay, it's a known fact that Poison-type Pokémon are weak against Psychic and Ground-types, so I got Abra, Drowzee, Slowpoke, Exeggcute, and Mime Jr, since they're Psychic-types. That's a pro. The con is Mime Jr is a Fairy-type Pokémon, so also weak against Poison-types. The same can be said with Exeggcute since it's a Grass-type Pokémon. I also have Ground-type Pokémon, so Sandshrew, Cubone, Geodude, Onix, and Rhyhorn, so that's also a go. None of them are weak against Poison-types, and there's also Magnemite. Steel-types are immuned to Poison-type moves," Sora said, going over his plan. "Also, there's Butterfree and Psyduck. They're not Psychic-types, but they can use Psychic-type moves."
Sora has sent his five Pokémon and got Sandshrew, Geodude, Cubone, Abra, and Butterfree.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Okay, let's train, shall we?" Sora asked.
"Chu," Pikachu agreed.
"Okay, Sandshrew! Use Slash! Butterfree! Use Confusion! Cubone! Bone Club! Abra! Use Shadow Ball! Geodude! Use Rock Throw!" Sora ordered. Sandshrew slashed against a rock as Cubone smashed it with Bone Club. Abra fires Shadow Ball and Butterfree uses Confusion all around. "That's great, guys!"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
Unknown to them, Gastly has finally caught up at last. Abra sensed something in the air.
"Okay, Abra! Use Fire Punch!" Sora ordered. Abra jumped and gave the air a blazing punch, hitting the rock with embers flashing. "Sandshrew! Use Dig! Butterfree! Use Bug Buzz! Geodude! Use Rock Slide! Cubone! Bonemerang!" The other Pokémon all used their chosen attacks. "Okay, Abra! Use Confusion!" Abra floats upwards and uses Confusion, and he focuses his psychic force up towards the trees, forcing Gastly to visible again. "A Gastly?! Not sure what's it doing here, but it won't get in the way! Abra! Shadow Ball!" Abra hurls a Shadow Ball as did Gastly. Gastly attacks with Night Shade. "Dodge with Teleport!" Abra teleports to dodge and reappeared before Gastly's Night Shade could land a hit. Abra reappeared behind Gastly. "Use Fire Punch!" Abra lands a burning pinch onto the Gas Pokémon. "Use Confusion!" Abra took Gastly with his psychic attack and slams Gastly down, hard. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Gastly flows inside and wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball confirming the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Gastly with him. He chose to send Gastly to Professor Oak's lab. "I got myself a Gastly!"
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"Good work, Abra," Sora said.
"Abra," Abra said, blushing.
"Very impressive," an elderly voice spoke. Sora and his Pokémon turned to see is an old woman, who has short yellow hair. She wears a white apron and is supported by a brown cane. She also wore purple dress with sleeves. She also wears purple shoes and gray leggings. She walks towards them. "An impressive display. You and your Pokémon are full of promise."
"I know you. You're Agatha from the Elite Four," Sora said.
"My reputation proceeds me everywhere I go," Agatha said. "I assume you're training for a Gym battle?"
"Yes, ma'am," Sora said. "Thought it'd be a good idea to be prepared for anything Koga has," Sora said.
"I see. Proper preparations are the key to a victory," Agatha said. "I wish you luck." She took off.
Sora couldn't believe he met up with Agatha. If meeting meeting Lorelei was one thing, meeting Agatha was another thing.
Meanwhile, Kairi is doing some training of her own. Just then, a mysterious figure appeared before her. She is a pale young woman with purple eyes and purplish hair, the latter being tied by a yellow band. She wore a scarf, a belt and white socks. She wore a black ninja suit, some bracers with pink outlines on her legs and arms. Kairi was caught by surprise by her sudden appearance.
"Who are you?" Kairi asked.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Janine, kunoichi. Am I to presume that you are preparing to challenge the Gym Leader of the Fushia City Gym?" Janine asked.
"No. Not really," Kairi said.
"You could have fooled me," Janine said. "I request to battle you."
"I'm telling you, I'm not collecting Gym Badges," Kairi said.
"How many do you have?" Janine asked. Kairi sighed, knowing she wasn't listening.
"None," Kairi said.
"None? Seriously?" Janine asked.
"Like I said, I'm not collecting Gym Badges. My friend is," Kairi said.
"How about we have a battle anyway? You and me," Janine said.
"Sure," Kairi said.
"Excellent," Janine said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Venonat! Go!" Her Pokéball opened and Venonat emerged from inside. Kairi took out her Pokédex and scanned it.
Venonat, the Insect Pokémon
Type: Bug/Poison
Its large eyes act as a radar. In a bright place, you can see that they are clusters of many tiny eyes.
"Alright, I know which one I'm using!" Kairi said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Ponyta!" Her Pokéball opened and Ponyta whinnies upon entry.
"Venonat! Use Poison Powder!" Janine ordered. Venonat sprinkles purple sparkling dust from its body.
"Dodge and use Flame Charge!" Kairi ordered. Ponyta dodged and charged right at Venonat, landing a hit.
"Use Disable!" Janine ordered. Venonat's eyes glow light blue. Ponyta's body is outlined by the light blue aura. "Now, Ponyta cannot use Flame Charge to raise its speed."
"Okay, Ponyta! Use Ember!" Kairi ordered. Ponyta fired Ember right at Venonat.
"Dodge and use Confusion!" Janine ordered. Venonat dodged and lifted Ponyta up in the air. "Send Ponyta back down!" Venonat does exactly that. "Use Leech Life!" Venonat's two front teeth gave off a light green glow and heads right towards Ponyta.
"Ponyta! Dodge and use Ember!" Kairi ordered. Ponyta dodged and fired Ember, landing a hit. The light blue aura outlines Ponyta's body as she whinnies. "Flame Charge!" Ponyta charged at Venonat and lands a hit onto Venonat, resulting in a knockout. Janine called back her Venonat.
"I concede defeat," Janine said. "You have raised your Pokémon well."
"Thank you. Your Venonat did alright herself," Kairi said. That made Janine smile.
Over to Sora and his Pokémon, they continued with their training.
"That's great, guys! Keep it up!" Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Shrew!" Sandshrew said. He started to evolve, much to their surprise. Sandshrew has become a bipedal, ground-dwelling pangolin Pokémon. Most of his underside is light yellow with a white underbelly. He has a narrow muzzle, almond-shaped blue eyes, and a thick tail. His back is mostly covered in sharp, brown quills formed from his tough, dry hide. He has two large claws on its paws and feet. "Sandslash!"
"Whoa, you evolved!" Sora said. He took out his Pokédex and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.
Sandslash, the Mouse Pokémon
The evolved form of Sandshrew
Type: Ground
It is skilled at slashing enemies with its claws. If broken, they start to grow back in a day.
"All that training has paid off, Sandslash!" Sora said.
"Sandslash, slash," Sandslash said.
Sora called back his five Pokémon and exchanged them for Drowzee, Slowpoke, Psyduck, Onix, and Rhyhorn. Onix and Rhyhorn are currently sparring as Drowzee is working on his psychic powers. Psyduck and Slowpoke are a different story.
"Psy," Psyduck said.
"Slow," Slowpoke said.
"Duck," Psyduck said.
"Poke," Slowpoke said.
Sora couldn't help but laugh. Apparently they're hitting it off better than he thinks they are.
"You guys sure are getting along well, aren't you?" Sora asked.
"Slow?" Slowpoke asked.
"Psyduck," Psyduck said. Just then, a Rattata came and bit Slowpoke on the tail. Slowpoke's expression didn't change. The Rattata came right to Psyduck and bit him on the tail, and Psyduck felt that. "Psy?" Psyduck then starts going nuts, feeling the pain on his tail. Slowpoke finally felt the pain and flailed around.
"Easy, guys! Take it easy!" Sora said. He took out bandaids for the both of them and placed them on their tails. "There, there, guys. Feel better?"
"Slowpoke," Slowpoke said.
"How about you two sit this one out for a while?" Sora suggested. He turned to Drowzee, Onix, and Rhyhorn. "Okay, Onix, use Rock Slide! Rhyhorn! Use Horn Attack! Drowzee! Use Confusion!" The three Pokémon unleashed their chosen attacks and they did well for themselves.
After getting some training done, Sora returned to the camp to find Kairi and Janine, meditating.
"The key to meditation is to find your inner peace," Janine said. "Find that inner peace and hold on to it."
"Okay," Kairi said. Sora turned to her Pokémon and saw they were in the same meditation as their Trainer.
"Did we miss something?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu shrugged his shoulders.
A little while later, Kairi and Janine stood back up.
"You would make a fine kunoichi with the proper training, Kairi," Janine said.
"Thanks, that means a lot," Kairi said. She spots Sora and Pikachu coming back. "Hi, Sora. How did your training go?"
"It went well," Sora said. "Who is she?"
"Right. Sora, meet Janine. Janine, this is Sora," Kairi said.
"It is an honor to meet a friend of Kairi," Janine said, bowing her head.
"Um, likewise," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
After a while, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel have arrived in Fushia City. They then noticed Janine was gone.
"Where did Janine go?" Kairi asked.
"I don't know, she was just with us," Sora said. "Let's head for the Pokémon Center and have Nurse Joy have a look at our Pokémon."
"Right," Kairi said.
With that said, they have arrived to the Pokémon Center and had Nurse Joy take a look at their Pokémon. Sora has decided to use Abra, Psyduck, Sandslash, Drowzee, and Geodude for the battle.
After being completely healed by Nurse Joy, they have arrived to the Fushia City Gym.
Upon arriving, they found the Gym desserted. Sora and Kairi found that to be really odd.
"Hello? Anybody there?" Sora asked.
"Someone has to be here," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee, Vee," Angel said.
"You're right. I have to try again," Sora said. "Hello?" Sora called out. "I'm here for a Gym battle against the Gym Leader!" No answer has come. He started to look around. "Is anybody home?"
"Somebody is indeed home," a familiar voice called out. A small black ball came out from the shadows and explodes once it hit the floor. Black smoke covers the Gym as everyone started coughing.
"Janine?" Sora coughed. Once the smoke cleared he, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel saw a man with black spiky hair. He wore purple ninja outfit, along with a red scarf that covered his mouth and nose. He has black, spikey with black finger gloves and boots. He has a white belt around his waist. "Who are you?"
"I am Koga," the ninja introduced himself. "The Gym Leader of the Fushia City Gym. And you must be my challenger Sora, I presume."
"That's me," Sora admitted as he nodded. "And I came here to challenge you to a battle."
Koga grinned.
"Then I accept your challenge," Koga said. "We shall begin right away. He turned to Janine. "Daughter, if you please?"
"Daughter?" Sora and Kairi both asked.
"Koga is my father," Janine said. She took her place as the referee for the battle.
"I'm caught up now. How many Pokémon do we each use?" Sora asked.
"In a rush for defeat, are we?" Koga grinned. "We shall use five Pokémon each."
"Fine with me," Sora said.
Kairi sat in the stands with Pikachu and Angel right beside her. Kairi couldn't help but wonder what kind of Trainer Koga is, and if he was good as his daughter, or better. Janine had to make the battle official.
"The battle between the Gym Leader Koga and the challenger Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town is about to begin!" Janine announced. "Both Trainers will be using five Pokémon each! Only the challenger will be permitted to make substitutions! The battle will be over if either the Gym Leader's or the challenger's Pokémon are unable to battle. Begin!"
Koga threw the first Pokéball and threw it.
"Golbat! Come to my aid!" Koga called. The Pokéball unleashes a Golbat. Sora took out his Pokédex and pointed at the bat-like Pokémon.

The evolved form of Zubat
Type: Poison/Flying
Golbat loves to drink the blood of living things. It is particularly active in the pitch black of night. This Pokémon flits around in the night skies, seeking fresh blood.
"That's what Zubat will evolve into, huh? Okay, I think I'll start out hard!" Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Geodude!" His Pokéball opened and Geodude emerged from inside.
"A Rock and Ground-type Pokémon is an excellent strategy, but Flying-type Pokémon are not bothered by Ground-type moves. Golbat! Use Confuse Ray!" Koga ordered. Golbat unleashed Confuse Ray from its mouth.
"Dodge and use Rock Throw!" Sora ordered. Geodude dodged Golbat's Confuse Ray and hurls Rock Throw.
"Dodge and use your Steel Wing!" Koga ordered. Golbat flew at the Rock Pokémon, landing a hit. It was super-effective. "Use your Crunch!" Golbat came at Geodude with a Crunch.
"Dodge and use Fire Punch!" Sora ordered. Geodude's fist emits fire and lands a punch onto Golbat. "Now, use Rock Throw!" Geodude hurls rocks at Golbat, landing a hit. "Fire Punch!" Geodude struck Golbat with a Fire Punch, sending the Bat Pokémon down on the ground.
"Golbat is unable to battle! Geodude wins!" Janine announced. Koga called back his Golbat.
"Well done, Golbat. You deserve a good rest, my friend," Koga said. "Very impressive, young Sora. Your Geodude has potential. Now be prepared for this." He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Venomoth! Go!" His Venomoth came right out. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Venomoth, the Poison Moth Pokémon
The evolved form of Venonat
Type: Bug/Poison
Venomoth is nocturnal Pokémon. Its favorite prey are small insects that gather around streetlights, attracted by the light in the darkness.
"Geodude, you still good to go?" Sora asked.
"Geodude," Geodude nodded.
"Great! Use Rollout!" Sora ordered. Geodude curled up into a ball and started to roll towards Venomoth. Koga just grinned.
"Venomoth! Use Double Team!" Koga ordered. Venomoth makes several copies of itself. Geodude misses his target completely.
"I knew he wouldn't let me hit his Venomoth that easily. He's not the Gym Leader for nothing," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Venomoth! Use Poison Powder!" Koga ordered. Venomoth sprinkled Poison Powder right on Geodude, poisoning him. Sora knew it was bad and he called Geodude back. He pulled out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Sandslash!" Sora called out. Sandslash emerged from inside.
"Venomoth! Use Pysbeam!" Koga ordered.
"Sandslash! Use Dig!" Sora ordered. Sandslash dug underground to avoid Venomoth's attack. It didn't take long until Sandslash came back out and lands a hit. "Use Slash!" Sandslash slashed across Venomoth, landing a hit.
"Venomoth! Use Poison Powder!" Koga ordered.
"Dig!" Sora ordered. Sandslash quickly dug to avoid Venomoth's Poison Powder. Sandslash emerged from the ground again, and lands a hit on Venomoth. "Use Crush Claw!" Sandslash's claws glow red and smashes its claws down onto Venomoth, dealing some heavy damage. Venomoth had been taken down at last.
"Venomoth is unable to battle! Sandslash wins!" Janine announced. Koga called back his Venomoth.
"Impressive. Using Dig to avoid Poison Powder was an excellent strategy. And on top of that, your Sandslash has an impressive strength," Koga said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go forth, Arbok!" His Arbok emerged from inside the Pokéball.
"Cha-bok!" Arbok hissed.
Sora remembered Jessie's Arbok even though it was just one battle since evolving. But he knew that Koga's Arbok looks stronger, not because of Jessie's, but because how experienced it looks in battle. Sora called back Sandslash and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Drowzee!" Sora called out.
"Drowzee!" Drowzee said, entering the battlefield.
"Okay, Drowzee! Use Headbutt!" Sora ordered. Drowzee came at the Cobra Pokémon with a headbutt.
"Arbok! Block it with Thunder Fang!" Koga ordered. Arbok charged at Drowzee with lightning emitting from his fangs. Drowzee gets hit, but not without giving Arbok a hit to go with it. Both Pokémon are thrown back. "Mud Bomb!" Arbok fires a ball made of mud right at Drowzee.
"Dodge it!" Sora called as Litten jumps out of the way. "Hypnosis!" Drowzee attempts to hypnotize Arbok, but it didn't work. "Okay, putting you to sleep didn't work, so use Confusion!" Drowzee's eyes glows light blue.
"Don't give in!" Koga called. "Wrap!" Arbok wrapped its tail around Drowzee. Drowzee tried to break free, but Arbok was just too strong.
"Drowzee!" Sora called to him.
Kairi, Pikachu and Angel watched horribly as the large snake was putting the squeeze on Drowzee.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Eevee!" Angel exclaimed as well.
"Drowzee!" Kairi called out.
"Drowzee! Use Hypnosis again!" Sora ordered. Drowzee came at Arbok and his eyes glows light blue. Arbok then fell right to sleep. "Use Dream Eater!" Drowzee opened his mouth as a red orb of light float out of Arbok and straight into Drowzee's mouth. That deals some damage to Arbok since Dream Eater has healed some of Drowzee's past injuries. Arbok then woke up. "Use Confusion!" Drowzee lifts Arbok up and slammed Arbok down on the ground, beaten.
"Arbok is unable to battle! Drowzee wins!" Janine announced. Koga called back his fallen Arbok and he smiled.
"Excellent, Sora. You are more skillful than I thought. Now," Koga said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Muk! Come forth!" Koga called out. Out of the Pokéball came a large, sticky, amorphous Pokémon made of living purple sludge. It has two small eyes with beady black pupils. It also has an enormous mouth with a gray tongue and strands of ooze connecting its top and bottom jaws. While it has no visible legs, it does have two arms with three fingers on each hand. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Muk, the Sludge Pokémon
The evolved from of Grimer
Type: Poison
A toxic fluid seeps from its body. The fluid kills plants and trees immediately upon contact.
"So, that's what Grimer evolves into, huh? That means Muk are stronger than Grimer," Sora said. "Drowzee! Use Hypnosis!"
"Use Sludge Bomb!" Koga ordered. Muk fired Sludge Bomb from its mouth and struck Drowzee hard. Sora gasped. "Use Shadow Ball!" Muk unleashed Shadow Ball and it struck Drowzee, dealing some heavy damage. Drowzee has been taken down.
"Drowzee is unable to battle! Muk wins!" Janine announced. Sora calls Drowzee back and he smiled.
"Rest up, Drowzee. You earned it," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Sandslash! Back to action!" Sandslash came back out to battle. "Use Crush Claw!"
"Dodge and use Dark Pulse!" Koga ordered. Muk fires a beam of black and purple circles from its mouth. Sandslash is struck hard by the dark move. "Use Dark Pulse again!"
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Muk unleashed Dark Pulse again and lands a devastating hit on the Mouse Pokémon, dealing in a knockout.
"Sandslash is unable to battle! Muk wins!" Janine announced. Sora called back his Sandslash and smiled again.
"You did your best, Sandslash. Rest up," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Geodude! Back to action!" Geodude came back out to battle. "I know you're still poisoned from Venomoth's Poison Powder, but I need you to hang in there. Use Rollout!" Geodude rolls into a ball and rolls right at the Sludge Pokémon.
"Use Mud Bomb!" Koga ordered. Muk fired Mud Bomb and misses. Geodude lands a hit onto Muk.
"Yes! Rollout gets stronger from every hit. Sora should have this in the bag," Kairi said.
"Keep it up!" Sora called out. Geodude kept up with Rollout, and it gotten stronger from each time Geodude struck. Geodude makes one more hit and it took Muk down for the count.
"Muk is unable to battle! Geodude wins!" Janine announced.
"Yeah, you rock, Geodude! No pun intended!" Sora said as he and Geodude high-five each other.
"Well done, Sora. You have defeated four of my Pokémon. Most of my challengers could never get pass my Muk, unlike you," Koga said. "Now, it is time for my final Pokémon." He took out his Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Weezing!" His Weezing emerged from inside. Sora knew his Weezing way stronger than James's Weezing as well.
"Okay, Geodude! Use Fire Punch!" Sora ordered.
"Dodge and use Shadow Ball!" Koga ordered. Weezing fired Shadow Ball, landing a devastating hit. Geodude has been taken down.
"Geodude is unable to battle! Weezing wins!" Janine announced. Sora called back his Geodude.
"Sorry, Geodude. You should rest up from that battle," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Abra! Go!" Abra came right out to battle Weezing.
"Use Shadow Ball!" Koga ordered.
"Teleport!" Sora ordered. Abra teleported out of the way of Weezing's attack. Abra appeared behind Weezing. "Use Confusion!" Abra grabbed Weezing and slammed on the ground. Koga grinned.
"Use Smokescreen!" Koga ordered. Weezing covered the entire battlefield with smoke, making it harder for Abra to focus.
"Abra, use Confusion to send the smoke away!" Sora ordered.
"Shadow Ball!" Koga ordered. Weezing unleashed Shadow Ball, striking Abra. He goes down hard, and results in a knockout.
"Abra is unable to battle! Weezing wins!" Janine announced as the smoke clears. Sora called back Abra. He was down to one Pokémon, and he didn't have the proper training, but he had little choice.
"Psyduck, I have no choice but to use you. Go! Psyduck!" Sora called out. Psyduck makes his entry and held his head.
"Psyduck?" Psyduck asked.
"A Psyduck against my Weezing," Koga said. "Now that is an interesting choice. And it doesn't even look adequate."
"Don't judge a book by its cover," Sora said feeling confident. "I know my Psyduck will pull through." Sora smiled as a small stream of sweat ran down his cheek. "I hope," Sora said in his thoughts.
"That remains to be seen," Koga said.
"Weezing! Double Hit!" Koga ordered.
"Psyduck! Dodge it!" Sora called out. Psyduck just stood there as Weezing lands a couple of hits. "Psyduck! Shake it off!" Psyduck just stood there while Weezing kept hitting Psyduck's head.
"How amusing," Koga said. "You sounded serious when you first approached me; it's appropriate you choose to throw the fight with such a laughable Pokémon. Weezing! Double Hit!" Weezing hits Psyduck hard.
"Psy! Psyduck! Psy-y-y-y!" Psyduck said in pain.
"Psyduck! Hang in there!" Sora called out.
"Oh no," Kairi said. "This is exactly what I was worried about. Psyduck wasn't able to use his attacks properly. Even when Sora tried get Psyduck passed that; but it doesn't look like Psyduck has improved."
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"What is it, Angel?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee!" Angel points to Psyduck. Psyduck was getting struck in the head repeatedly, but each hit made Psyduck look more stressful.
"What is going on with Psyduck?" Kairi asked.
"Psyduck!" Sora called out horrified by what's about to happen. Just as Weezing was about to make the finishing blow; Weezing just stopped in its tracks. "Huh?"
"What?!" Koga exclaimed.
Psyduck's eyes were glowing blue as a blue aura was surrounding Weezing who was trying so desperately to break through.
"Is that Confusion?" Kairi questioned.
"Pika?" Pikachu also questioned.
"Eevee?" Angel asked.
"Psyduck..." Sora said in disbelief. Psyduck threw Weezing with his telekinetic move passed Koga and hitting the wall. Sora's fears disappeared as he smiled. "That was awesome, Psyduck! Now use Water Gun!"
"Psyduck!" Psyduck took in a deep breath before firing a strong Water Gun hitting Weezing on mark.
"What is this?!" Koga exclaimed in his thoughts. "How can this be? This Psyduck was just standing there not doing anything. Perhaps I should have heeded that boy's advice."
"Now use Scratch!" Sora ordered as Psyduck ran towards Weezing scratching the Poison Gas Pokémon's face.
"Weezing! Shadow Ball!" Koga ordered as he was determined to end this. Weezing fired a powerful Shadow Ball to hit its opponent.
"Confusion!" Sora called out as Psyduck's eyes glowed blue again and sent Weezing back again. The attack was strong enough to bring Weezing down. Weezing struggled to get back up only to fall back in exhaustion.
"Weezing is unable to battle!" Janine announced. "Psyduck wins! The battle goes to the challenger, Sora Ketchum of Pallet Town!"
"You did it, Psyduck!" Sora exclaimed running up to Psyduck giving him a big hug. Psyduck's eyes reverts back to normal as felt the tight squeeze of his trainer.
"Psy-y-y!" Psyduck said.
Koga approached Sora applauding him for his victory and Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel joining in, with Kairi giving Sora a big hug.
"You have battled honorably, young Sora," Koga smiled. "You have proven yourself to be a worthy opponent. And the power that your Psyduck has displayed had completely taken me by surprise."
"Thank you, Koga," Sora said. "I've gotta admit, I was just as surprised as you. I don't know what exactly happened, but I'm very glad my Psyduck has came through for me."
"Psy," Psyduck said.
"You should be proud," Koga said. "Your Pokémon are truly remarkable, just like their Trainer. So now I shall reward you with this." Janine walked up with a chest. Koga opens the chest to reveal a badge in a shape of a heart. "As proof of your victory, it honors me to reward you with the Soul Badge." Koga handed the badge to Sora and bows his head in respect. Sora returned the favor by bowing his head in the same fashion.
"The Soul Badge makes five," Sora beamed. "Three more to go."
"The Gym you shall challenge next is located in Saffron City," Koga said.
"Saffron City, got it," Sora said.
"Be warned, because the Gym Leader there is one of the most powerful Gym Leaders you will have to challenge," Koga said. "I suggest you get properly prepared."
"Well, if the Gym Leader is as tough as you say she is, then I'm gonna have to try a whole lot harder," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel left the Fushia City Gym and had Geodude, Sandslash, Abra, Drowzee, and Psyduck healed up.
Sora had to wonder what kind of Gym Leader he would be dealing with. He had to cross that bridge once he comes across it. Until then, the training and journey continues.
