Episode 34: Confessions of the Heart
On the same night of Princess Festival Day, so Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel have continued on their journey.
"Sora," Kairi said. Sora turned to Kairi.
"Yeah?" Sora asked.
"I wanted to thank you for being there for me today," Kairi said.
"Well, I like seeing you happy, Kairi. I mean, you're really cute when you smile," Sora said. That made Kairi smile.
"Thanks, Sora," Kairi said. They stopped to camp for the night. After they got set for the night, they went right to sleep. For some reason Kairi couldn't sleep. She sat up and looked right at Sora. She walked up to him and saw him sleeping soundly. She bent to him and smiled.
"I don't know why we feel so awkward when people ask if we're a couple," Kairi said in her thoughts. "I wanna to be able to say it openly to you. I want us to be able to express it with you. I want us to be together. I want to be able to say that I love you." With that said, she moved her head and pressed her lips against his. Pikachu opened one eye and saw Kairi kissing Sora on the lips. Pikachu quickly closes his eye, not wanting to see Kairi spying on her. She kissed his lips for a minute or two before pulling away and whispered, "I love you."
Kairi blushed a little as she went back to sleep in her sleeping bag. She went to sleep feeling happy about her first kiss to Sora. As she slept she dreamt that it was just the two of them. They found themselves in a magical world to which stars all around them twinkled.
Music began playing as Kairi started to sing to him as she slow danced with Sora. She sang beautifully to him.

"I love you, Sora," Kairi said, moving her head and kissed Sora on the lips. Sora kissed her back.
Kairi woke up the next morning and looked around and saw everyone else asleep. Kairi got up and stretched her legs. Sora woke up feeling fresh as he saw her walk off. He got up and decided to join her.
Kairi looked up in the sky and saw the morning sky was beautiful today. Sora snuck behind her and tapped her shoulder. Kairi turned to face him.
"Morning Kairi," Sora greeted.
"Morning, Sora," Kairi said, blushing. She was embarrassed about giving him that kiss from last night, but she shook it off. "Did you sleep good?"
"Sure did," Sora said, but for some reason, he had his fingers on his lips. To him, it felt like a kiss on the lips. Maybe he might have dreamed it. He decided not to question it for now. "What about you? Sleep okay?"
"J-Just fine," Kairi said, feeling nervous.
Later that same day, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel continued on to make their way to Saffron City for badge number six. Sora just couldn't shake the feeling on his lips. He could have sworn it felt like a kiss on his lips. Kairi was still thinking about the kiss she gave him while he slept. Kairi was worried about how Sora will react when she tells him.
A little later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel have come across a a bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a wide, dull-brown body divided into segments by thin lines. On top of its head is a large pair of gray, spiky pincers on top of its head. In its mouth are many long, flat teeth arranged horizontally and it has triangular eyes. Its legs are short and thick, while its arms are long and thin. It has three claws on each hand and foot; two of its toes face forward and one backward. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokémon
Type: Bug
It grips prey with its pincers until the prey is torn apart. Anything that it can't tear, it tosses far away.
"Okay, here's the right Pokémon for the job! Bulbasaur! Go!" Sora said as he threw his Pokéball and Bulbasaur came right out to battle Pinsir. The Stag Beetle Pokémon clamped its pincers, trying to scare Bulbasaur away, but fails. "You'll have to do better than that, Pinsir! Bulbasaur! Use Tackle!" Bulbasaur charged at Pinsir, landing a hit. Pinsir fought back by lowering its head down with its pincers ready to go.
"He's coming towards Bulbasaur with a Vice Grip!" Kairi gasped.
"Eevee!" Angel added.
"Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur dodged and fired Razor Leaf at Pinsir, hitting it on the mark. Pinsir's claws glow light blue. It then puts its claws together in front of it and a light blue 'X'-like energy with a magenta outline appears in front of its claws and it falls forward, slamming into Bulbasaur. "That was X-Scissor!" Bulbasaur fell on his stomach.
"You okay, Bulbasaur?"
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said, getting up.
"Great! Use Leech Seed!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur fired a Leech Seed at Pinsir, pinning it into the ground. It then starts into Pinsir's energy. "Use Tackle!" Bulbasaur slammed into Pinsir. The Stag Beetle Pokémon fell on his back. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Pinsir flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Pinsir with him. He chose to send Pinsir to Professor Oak's lab."Got myself a Pinsir!"
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu cheered.
"Eevee!" Angel cooed. She starts to nuzzle Pikachu affectionately and Pikachu nuzzles her back. Sora and Kairi smiled lovingly at the Pokémon couple and they look at each other. They both blushed when they gazed into each other's eyes.
Sora said in his thoughts, "It must be nice-"
Kairi finished the sentence, "-to be openly in love."
They kept looking at each other very lovingly.
"If only I could let the whole world know," Sora and Kairi said in their thoughts.
Just then, Leaf arrived and she smiled at the two of them.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't it Sora and Kairi?" Leaf said, interrupting their moment. They turned to Leaf while blushing. She waves at the two of them.
"Leaf!" Sora and Kairi both said in unison.
"What brings you two out here in these parts of the woods?" Leaf asked.
"Not much. Just caught me a Pinsir," Sora said, while blushing.
"A Pinsir, huh? Sounds like a cool Pokémon to catch," Leaf said.
"What about you, Leaf? What are you doing here?" Kairi asked.
"I was looking for the Pokémon Center, and I thought you can accompany me until we get there," Leaf said.
"Sure," Sora and Kairi both said and they blushed. Leaf silently chuckled as they said it together.
They reached the Pokémon Center and had their Pokémon checked in.
Meanwhile, over to Team Rocket, they were still searching for Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel.
"They have got to be around here somewhere," Jessie said.
"That's what you said an hour ago," James said.
"Her sense of direction was always off. She couldn't find water if she was swimming like a Magikarp," Meowth said.
"You know I can hear the both of you, right?" Jessie hissed. She stopped when she heard James give off a delightful scream. She turned to see James staring at a Weepinbell.
"As I live an breathe, a Weepinbell! Such a cute and healthy-looking Weepinbell!" James said.
"Oh, James. Why you're so obsessed with Weepinbell, I can never really understand," Jessie said.
"Weepinbell are the most adorable Grass-type Pokémon there is! More so than an Oddish and its pre-evolved form, Bellsprout! Those eyes gives off that look of innocence! I must catch it at all costs!" James took out a Pokéball and tossed it. Weepinbell flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. James's face lit up and he nuzzled the Pokéball. "Now, I have my very own Weepinbell!"
"Mime, Mime, Mime!" Mime Jr cheered.
"Good for you," Jessie and Meowth deadpanned.
Meanwhile, over to the Pokémon Center, Kairi is currently brushing Angel's fur when Leaf entered the room. Kairi turned to see her.
"Leaf," Kairi said.
"Kairi, tell the truth. You really do love Sora, don't you?" Leaf asked. Kairi blushed when she asked her that question.
"How did you guess?" Kairi asked.
"I knew it ever since we met in Cerulean City. I can see it from outer space," Leaf said. Kairi sighed, caving in.
"Yes. I love Sora. I've been in love with Sora ever since we met on that first day," Kairi admitted. Her heart was beating like crazy and she's blushing up a storm. "I..." Kairi paused before taking another deep breath. "...kissed Sora on the lips while he was sleeping." Her face turned even redder when she said that. She looked at Leaf and saw her face as she was really surprised to hear that.
"You kissed him on the lips while he was sleeping?" Leaf asked. Kairi nodded. "He didn't wake up, did he?"
"No," Kairi said.
"It must have been nice to kiss him, huh?" Leaf asked.
"It was," Kairi said. "That kiss was the first kiss I have ever had."
"Seriously? You never kissed anyone before?" Leaf asked.
"No," Kairi admitted.
"Well, Sora never had one either, if it helps," Leaf said.
"Really?" Kairi asked.
"Nope," Leaf said.
"Then I was his first," Kairi said.
"Kairi, why not just tell him how you feel?" Leaf asked.
"I honestly want to tell him, but I don't know if he feels the same way about me," Kairi said.
"You're never going to know unless you tell him directly," Leaf said.
"You knew Sora longer than me, so would you know if he has feelings for me?" Kairi aaked.
"I know it, Kairi. I know Sora enough to know he has feelings for you. But you're gonna want to hear it from him directly," Leaf said. Kairi looked at Leaf. "You can trust me on that, Kairi."
"Leaf," Kairi said.
"Sora's been my friend since we were little kids, and I want him to be happy," Leaf said. "I know you'll make him happy." Kairi smiled some more.
"Thanks, Leaf. I've only known you for a short time, but you're such a good friend," Kairi said.
"You going to tell him?" Leaf asked.
"Yes, I will," Kairi said with a determined expression. Angel smiled, feeling that Kairi is finally taking that step.
Over to Sora and Pikachu, Sora is polishing his Pokéballs as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgeotto, and Rattata out.
"There, these look shiny enough," Sora said. Pikachu's perked up and saw Ash coming towards him.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Pikachu, what's up?" Sora asked. He turned around and saw Ash coming. "Ash?"
"Hey, Sora. Short-time-no-see," Ash said, making Sora laugh.
"Very funny," Sora said.
"See you're polishing Pokéballs, Sora," Ash said.
"Yeah. Just gotta make them look presentable," Sora said.
"There's something I didn't think I would hear from you," Ash said. Sora looked right at him.
"What brings you here?" Sora asked.
"I just thought I'd challenge you into a Pokémon battle, Sora. I wanna see how much you've gotten stronger since our last battle," Ash said. Sora had to admit, losing to a friend was pretty hard for him, but it was all in good fun.
"'Kay, I'll take you up for it. How do you wanna do it?" Sora asked.
"Let's make it a three-on-three match. The battle will be over when all three are all unable to battle. And the loser buys lunch," Ash said. Sora chuckled again.
"Okay. You know how I like my hamburger," Sora said.
It didn't take long until Kairi, Leaf, and Angel stepped out to see Sora and Ash getting into position to have their battle. Ash took out a Pokéball that seems different than the ones Sora has seen. The entire ball is various shades blue except for the black horizontal band around the middle, and a white "cap" on the top of the ball in which the blue forms a gentle "wave" pattern around. It is known as the Dive Ball.
"Okay! Poliwhirl! Go!" Ash called out. His Dive Ball opened up and out came a large, amphibious froglet-like Pokémon. Poliwhirl has large hands and the hands appear to be like gloves. Its appearance is much like Poliwag, but the spiral on its belly reverses direction. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Its body surface is always wet and slick with an oily fluid. Because of this greasy covering, it can easily slip and slide out of the clutches of any enemy in battle.
"So, that's what Poliwag will evolve into," Sora said. He looked at Bulbasaur. "You're in, Bulbasaur!"
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said, stepping in. "Bulbasaur! Use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur fired Razor Leaf at his opponent.
"Poliwhirl! Dodge and use Double Slap!" Ash ordered. Poliwhirl dodged and gave Bulbasaur a couple of slaps across the face. "Use Mega Punch!" Poliwhirl gave Bulbasaur a punch in the face.
"Bulbasaur! Use Vine Whip!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur gave Poliwhirl a couple of smacks with Vine Whip, dealing some heavy damage. "Use Tackle!" Bulbasaur charged with Tackle.
"Dodge and use Body Slam!" Ash ordered. Poliwhirl dodged just by jumping and started to come down, hard at the Seed Pokémon.
"Dodge it and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur avoids Poliwhirl's Body Slam, and unleashed Razor Leaf, dealing some more damage. "Use Leech Seed!" Bulbasaur fired a seed at Poliwhirl, sapping its energy. Ash gasped. "Use Tackle!" Bulbasaur tackled Poliwhirl, making it fall backwards, beaten. Ash calls back his Poliwhirl.
"That wasn't bad, Sora. You've come a long way," Ash said.
"Thanks, Ash. You're not too shabby yourself," Sora said. Ash took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Nidorina!" Ash called out. A Nidorina emerged from inside, waiting for Ash's instructions.
"You still good to go, Bulbasaur?" Sora asked.
"Saur!" Bulbasaur nodded.
"Okay! Use Tackle!" Sora ordered. Bulbasaur charged right at Nidorina.
"Okay, Nidorina! Dodge and use Use Poison Jab!" Ash ordered. Nidorina dodges and punches the opponent, with a purple flash of light. Bulbasaur took some heavy damage. "Finish up with Poison Fang!" Nidorina gave Bulbasaur a poisonous bite, resulting in a knockout. Sora called back Bulbasaur. He looked at his other five Pokémon and he looked right at Rattata.
"Okay, Rattata! You're going in!" Sora said.
"Rattata!" Rattata said, stepping right in to battle.
"Nidorina! Use Poison Fang!" Ash ordered.
"Dodge with Dig!" Sora ordered. Nidorina was coming at the Normal-type Mouse Pokémon, so Rattata dug underground to avoid Nidorina's attack. Ash knew Sora had to get the idea from that Team Rocket grunt. Rattata came out and lands a hit with a tackle. "Use Flame Wheel!" Rattata rolled into a ball of fire and rolled right into Nidorina. "Use "Use Crunch!" Rattata lands the finishing blow when his incisors grew and lands a bite onto Nidorina, resulting in a knockout. "Great job, Rattata!" He pets Rattata on the head. Rattata then started to evolve. Sora, Kairi, Ash, Leaf, and the other Pokémon were at awe. Rattata has now become a Raticate. "You're a Raticate now."
"Raticate," the newly evolved Raticate said. Ash called back his Nidorina.
"That was awesome, Sora. You raised your Pokémon right! I tip my hat to you," Ash said, literally tipping his hat. "Okay, here's a familiar face!" He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Charmeleon!" His Pokéball opened and Charmeleon came right out to battle.
"I had a feeling you were going to use your Charmeleon against me," Sora said. "Okay, Raticate! Dig!" Raticate dug underground again.
"Be ready, Charmeleon," Ash said.
"Charmeleon," Charmeleon said. He waited for a moment and then, Raticate emerged from underneath and attacked.
"Behind you!" Ash called out. Charmeleon stopped Raticate cold, by grabbing him.
"Uh-oh," Sora said.
"Use Seismic Toss!" Ash ordered. Charmeleon jumped in the air and rolls around in the air. Charmeleon then tossed Raticate down, resulting in a knockout.
Sora called back Raticate.
"Get some rest, Raticate," Sora said. He looked right at Squirtle. "Okay, Squirtle, you're up!" Squirtle stepped into battle.
"Okay, Charmeleon, don't underestimate Squirtle," Ash said.
"Meleon," Charmeleon said.
"Squirtle! Use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Squirtle fired Water Gun at Charmeleon.
"Dodge and use Slash!" Ash ordered. Charmeleon dodges and lands a slash onto the Tiny Turtle Pokémon. "Use Slash again!" Charmeleon slashes Squirtle again.
"Squire! Use Skull Bash!" Sora ordered. Squirtle lowered his head and darts towards Charmeleon.
"Dodge and use Dragon Rage!" Ash ordered. Charmeleon dodged and fired Dragon Rage, landing a heavy hit. "Use Flamethrower! Full power!" Charmeleon unleashed a powerful Flamethrower, catching Squirtle in it. Squirtle has been taken down. Sora has lost the match. Sora called back Squirtle and sighed.
"Looks like I'm buying lunch then," Sora said. Ash laughed.
"Don't worry about it, Sora. The whole buying lunch bit was just a joke," Ash said, walking up to Sora. He looked up and he sighed, realizing he walked into that one again.
"Duped again," Sora said.
"It's okay, Sora. I could easily see that you have improved since the last time. Maybe, just maybe, you'll beat me," Ash assured.
"Yeah, I don't plan on losing to you again," Sora said.
"Well, you should train hard then," Ash said.
With that said, Kairi, Leaf, and Angel were watching the battle from the start, and they head inside to have some lunch.
That night, after having Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Raticate healed, they all left the Pokémon Center to camp out. Sora went to a log and sat down and looked at the stars. Leaf encouraged Kairi to go and confess her feelings for Sora.
"Go for it," Leaf urged. Kairi left into the direction Sora has left, leaving Ash curious.
"Where is she going?" Ash asked.
"She has something to take care of," Leaf said.
Sora sat at the log and he took out the Rainbow Wing and looked at it and that's when Kairi joined him. Sora took notice of her and smiled.
"Hey, Kairi," Sora greeted. "Something on your mind?"
"Just thought maybe I'd sit with you," Kairi said. "You don't mind, do you?"
"I don't mind," Sora said. "Have a seat." Kairi obliges him sitting on the log next to him.
"You know, I was pretty impressed by the way you battled today," Kairi said.
Sora chuckled, "I impressed even myself. Even though I lost, I gave it everything I had. I'm just glad Ash didn't turn out like Gary."
"I know," Kairi said. "You gotten so good after such a short time."
"Yeah," Sora agreed. Sora looked at her and smiled some more. Sora took a deep breath and spoke up. "Hey, Kairi."
"Yes Sora?" Kairi turned to him. Sora was beginning to have second thoughts about it.
"Back in O-Hina Town on Princess Festival Day, I wanted to know if you enjoyed it," he said.
"I did, because I got to spend it with you," Kairi said. "I was happy to know I had your support when I battled for my mom to win those Princess Dolls for my mom."
"I have your back, Kairi, and I always will," Sora said. This made Kairi happy to hear it. She had to take a stab at it now.
"There's something I want to share with you too, Sora," Kairi admitted. Kairi looked up to Sora and blushed.
"What is it, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"From the day that we met; when you saved my life that day. I always wanted to be with you," Kairi said.
"But you are with me," Sora said. "We've been traveling together since that day."
"I know," Kairi said. "But there's something a whole lot more than that. Something I want to say to you, but I don't know how you will react. But I want you to know right now." Kairi took a moment to take a deep breath and her heart was beating faster and faster. "I love you."
Sora got wide-eyed when he she finally said it to him.
"Can you repeat that?" Sora asked wanting to make sure that he didn't mishear her.
"I love you, Sora," Kairi admitted. "I've been in love with you from the day when you saved my life from those awful hunters and those Heartless. From the day we met. I want you to know that I love you with all my heart and soul."
Kairi looked at Sora as he just stared at her letting it sink in. Sora had to let it out.
"That's what I was going to tell you," Sora admitted to her. "What I was going to say was I love you, too, Kairi. You are the most beautiful girl in the world to me. You've been good to me. I always loved how you would gush over how cute a Pokémon was, and that is cute. I want you to know it and I don't care who knows it; I love you more than anything in the world."
Kairi was incredibly moved by Sora's confession of love he had for her. Kairi started to cry in happiness as she hugged him tight. Sora hugged her back. She cried for a moment before the two lovebirds kissed each other with so much passion. They were lost in their kiss as they didn't notice Ash and Leaf watching them and smiled.
"I knew you could do it, Kairi," Leaf said in her thoughts.
"Way to go, Sora," Ash said in his thoughts.
Not too long, Pikachu, Angel, Pidgeotto, Raticate, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, Raichu, Poliwag, Ponyta, and Gloom joined in and they saw both their Trainers kissing each other on the lips. Ash and Leaf snuck away while Pikachu, Angel, and the other Pokémon just continued to watch.
Sora and Kairi broke the kiss and stared into each other for a moment.
"That's the second kiss I have ever had," Kairi said.
"Second kiss?" Sora questioned.
"The first one was from last night," Kairi admitted. That struck Sora like a cord. He knew he didn't dream it after all.
"And I slept through it?" Sora playfully pouted. Kairi giggled along with Sora as he took her in his arms again. "Well at least I was awake for the second. Shall we go for thirds?"
"Of course," Kairi answered as they kissed again. Their kiss was even more passionate than the last kiss.
"Pika Pi," Pikachu sweetly said as Sora and Kairi stopped kissing. The now to be couple turned and saw Pikachu, Angel, and the other Pokémon looking at them sweetly.
"Eevee, vee," Angel swooned.
"You guys been there long?" Sora questioned. Pikachu, Angel, and the other Pokémon all nodded. Sora and Kairi smiled and gestured them to come over. Pikachu and the other Pokémon went towards Sora and Kairi joining the couple. Ash and Leaf had already drifted into sleep as Sora and Kairi kissed each other goodnight. Sora and Kairi fell asleep as they drifted off to dreamland.
