Episode 37: Primeape Goes Bananas
Okay, I just want to make a response to dazzle, and explain that it seems like a good idea, but I didn't say I was going to write it. I mean, you had the right idea, but I have other things going on right now, so it's going to be difficult to keep up with it. I also meant this and the original story, so you might have misunderstood what I meant. Just been having a hard time as of late. Also, if you see any reviews that seems disrespectful, please don't hesitate to report them. Also, in this chapter, Riku will capture a Primeape in this one.
A day has passed since Kairi has acquired her Keyblade, and used it to defeat Rose. It bothered them greatly, wondering how easy it would to be turned into a Heartless.
Sora decided to make a phone call to someone whose expertise might come in handy. He dialed Kairi's parents on his smartphone. It was Yuta who answered.
"Sora, hello. It's been a while," Yuta said.
"It's good to hear your voice, too, Yuta. I need to talk to you about something," Sora said.
"Of course. Just what's on your mind?" Yuta asked.
"I was wondering if it's easy to turn into a Heartless?" Sora asked. This question disturbed Yuta greatly, but he was curious what made Sora want to ask him that.
"It only depends on how much darkness you have in your heart. Why do you ask?" Yuta asked.
"Okay, there was a couple of people who turned into Heartless, and we took them both down. So, I was wondering how easy it is to become one," Sora said. Yuta sighed.
"I was afraid you were going to ask me that. It pains me to tell you that's it's pretty easy. Darkness is like putty; the more you put on, the bigger it gets. Once it's big enough, it comes out in an instant," Yuta explained.
"Would it come from a person's negative feelings?" Sora asked.
"Yes. It comes from emotions such as anger, jealousy, greed, and hate," Yuta said.
"That's what I was afraid of," Sora said. "Has anyone ever came back from being a Heartless?" Yuta was surprised by this question.
"I don't know. No one ever has," Yuta said.
"I just thought maybe, there would be some hope for them," Sora said.
"There are things we can't control, Sora. You have to remember, you can't save everyone," Yuta said. Sora took that to heart.
"I'll remember that," Sora said.
"Is there anything I can help you out with?" Yuta asked.
"No, I'm good with the answers you gave me," Sora said.
"Also, Kairi has gotten her Keyblade, didn't she?" Yuta asked. Sora yelped when he heard his girlfriend's dad ask him that.
"How did you guess?" Sora asked, feeling nervous and sweat ran down his head.
"I had a feeling in my bones, so I was wondering if you knew. I now know," Yuta said.
"Uh," Sora said.
"Don't worry, I'm not mad about this. And I won't tell my wife about this. I'd like to hear from you again," Yuta said.
"You too," Sora said. He hung up and he pocketed it. He rejoined his girlfriend and the Pokémon as Kairi has started to prepare some lunch for them.
"How did the talk with my dad go?" Kairi asked.
"Well, better than I thought. He explained that it's easy to turn into a Heartless, depending on how much darkness there is in there," Sora said. Kairi didn't like how that came out. "Also, he knows about you having a Keyblade."
"You didn't tell him, did you?" Kairi asked.
"No, he just figured it out," Sora said.
"Mom and dad did say I couldn't fool them," Kairi said.
"Good news is, your mom doesn't know; not yet anyway," Sora said.
"Sounds like she may find out eventually. Glad I'm not around when she's pregnant," Kairi said.
"Why's that?" Sora asked.
"When my mom was pregnant with me, she had on and off mood swings. She would snap at him for no approach reason, and then she apologize in about five minutes later," Kairi explained.
"Wow, that's a side of her I'd never thought I'd imagine," Sora said.
"You and me both, Sora," Kairi said. They both shared a laugh just like a couple. It was when Riku, Naminé, and Eevee came along.
"Well, look what we got here, Naminé. A picnic for two," Riku said.
"Don't tease them, Riku," Naminé said. "It's nice to see you both again."
"Riku, Naminé. Great to see you," Kairi said.
"Hey, guys," Sora said.
"Would you like to make it for four?" Kairi offered.
"Thanks, we'd like that," Naminé said. "Right, Riku?"
"Sure thing," Riku said. As Riku and Naminé were joining them, he let out his Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur, and Pinsir. They were eating the Pokémon food Kairi has provided for them. Riku's Squirtle was different from Sora's Squirtle. This Squirtle wore a green bandana, resemblinga Ninja Turtle. "Eat up, guys."
"Eevee," Eevee said.
As they ate, they were unaware of the Eeveelutions watching over them. There was also another present. It is a bipedal Pokémon that has a red body with a yellow, flame-shaped marking on its stomach. Its head is covered with large lumps, and it has a rounded, yellow beak. There is a single spike on its back and it has a tapered tail. Its short arms have three clawed fingers, while its feet have only two clawed toes. This Pokémon is known as a Magby.
Magby's mouth drooled at the sight of the smell of the food. It was really hungry. Just when Magby was about to get some, it's grabbed by the tail. It is picked up by a bipedal Pokémon that has a red body with yellow flame designs along the bottom half. It has a puckered, yellow beak, small eyes, and two lumps on its forehead with a yellow flame on top of each one. Rigid, red scales cover its arms and it has five, clawed fingers on each hand. Magmar's shoulders and thighs are yellow, and its red feet have two, clawed toes each. It has black, metal shackles around its neck and ankles. Down its back is a row of red spikes, and there is a flame at the tip of its tapering, yellow tail. This Pokémon is known as a Magmar. Magmar takes Magby back with it towards what looks like a volcanic valley.
As they ate their meal, a Mankey sniffed the food and hopped right over, jumping off of Sora's head.
"Are you hungry, Mankey?" Kairi asked. Mankey nodded. Kairi hands the Pig Monkey Pokémon a roll and bounced on Sora's head again. Mankey jumped to the top of a rock and started to eat the roll. Mankey beamed at how it tasted.
"That Mankey sure likes whatever you make, Kairi," Naminé said.
"What do you expect. Everything she makes is magic you can eat," Sora said. This made Kairi giggled and blush.
"Sora, you don't need to keep complimenting me like this," Kairi said.
"Well, what kind of boyfriend would that make me if I didn't praise you, Kairi," Sora said. Kairi blushed.
"So, you finally manned up, Sora," Riku commented.
"You could say that," Sora said, nervously. Just then, Mankey jumped down and jumped on Sora's head again. "Hey! My head's not a trampoline, you know!" The Mankey eyes the necklace and tries to take it. "No, no, no! This is mine!" This angered Mankey, and it starts beating him up. "Ow, ow, ow! Get off my face!" The chain on the necklace comes undone and fell off. Mankey swiped it and climbed up a nearby tree. "Ow," Sora groaned. "That really hurt." Sora regained his balance, but just in time for him to witness Mankey holding his necklace. "My necklace!" Sora realized as he placed his hand over where it used to be. "Give that back!" Sora demanded. Mankey shook its head refusing to comply. "I said give that back!" Sora tried to grab the necklace only for Mankey to pummel him. Mankey jumped up into a nearby tree and swung his rear at the spikey-headed boy.
"Sora!" Kairi called as she ran to him.
"Is he okay?" Naminé asked.
"He got whooped bad," Riku said.
Sora got up and sat up.
"That Mankey took my necklace!" Sora exclaimed. Sora ran up to the tree trying to climb up. "Give me back my necklace, you little thief!"
Riku just looked at him, and wondered why he's making such a big deal over a necklace.
"Sora, just let that Mankey have it!" Riku said. "It's just a necklace."
"It's not to me!" Sora shot back.
"And I thought girls went crazy over jewelry," Riku joked. The girls glared at him. He decided to change the subject back to Mankey and Sora. "What's the big deal, anyway? What is so important about a piece of jewelry?"
"That piece of jewelry was handed to him from Sora's father," Kairi answered.
"Sora's father?" Naminé asked.
"That's right," Kairi nodded. "Sora told me and my parents he's actually descended from a long line of knights in the old days. The necklace was worn by all the boys in the family, so they were viewed as knights in the eyes of the people. The necklace is a family heirloom. He had it for as long as he can remember."
"That necklace symbolizes Sora's ancestry?" Riku asked.
"He doesn't want to disgrace his ancestors by letting someone take it from him," Kairi said.
Sora managed to get to the top, only for Mankey to jump off by bouncing off his head. Mankey hops next to Kairi and nuzzles her hand affectionately.
"It looks like that Mankey likes you, Kairi," Riku said.
Kairi looked at Mankey continuing to nuzzle her. Mankey then jumped into Kairi's arms, clinging to her.
"It likes you a lot," Naminé added. Sora managed to climb back down and march over to Mankey.
"Give me back my necklace!" Sora demanded. Mankey jumped out and pummeled him again.
Watching in the distance, Team Rocket had spotted the group.
"There they are!" Jessie proclaimed. "And they're distracted."
"And this will be golden opportunity for us to capture Pikachu!" James added.
"Granted that we actually do it," Meowth said.
After a few seconds later, Team Rocket approached the group.
"Hello there," Jessie greeted sinisterly.
"Team Rocket!" Kairi exclaimed.
"What you doing here?!" Riku snarled.
"Aren't you glad to see us?" Meowth asked.
"NO!" Sora, Kairi, Riku, and Naminé all said at once. Just then Mankey goes over to Team Rocket curious at the newcomers. They all had annoyed looks on their faces.
"What's the deal with this one?" Jessie asked.
"Buzz off, fur ball!" James said before he kicked it.
Kairi, Riku, and Naminé gasped when James did that. Naminé knew too well Mankey are easily angered. But she was too afraid to find out how angry Mankey will get.
"You shouldn't have done that," Naminé said.
"We just want to borrow Pikachu," Jessie said. "Permanently."
"Hand over Pikachu or else!" James demanded.
"Make us," Sora said. He shook his head. "What am I talking about? Look, I'm having my own problems right now, so why don't you guys make like a Beedrill and buzz off?" Sora stated.
"We're not buzzing anywhere until we get Pikachu," Jessie said.
"Well if you want to want Mankey to deal with, then be my guest," Sora said.
"Mankey?" Jessie asked. "What Mankey?"
"You don't think it's that thing I kicked out of the way?" James asked nervously.
They all turned and saw Mankey glaring at Team Rocket. Mankey then started to glow as it started to evolve.
"Uh oh," Sora said.
Once Mankey was done evolving, it has evolved into a Primeape.
"Crap!" Team Rocket gasped. "It evolved!"
"No you dumbasses done it!" Sora exclaimed. "It's a Primeape now! Start saying your prayers because you're about to get it," Sora gulped.
"This thing?" Jessie sneered. "Please!" Jessie threw her Pokéball. "Arbok! Go!"
"Go Weezing!" James called throwing his Pokéball as well.
The Pokéballs opens to let out Arbok and Weezing as they charge into battle. Pikachu and Angel positioned themselves for a battle when Primeape came up behind Jessie and smacked her in the back. Jessie is sent flying through Arbok and Weezing. Jessie goes face first into the same boulder that Mankey had previously ate lunch upon.
"How dare you do this to my beautiful and sexy face you furry sack of shit!" Jessie roared. "Arbok! Weezing! Forget about Pikachu! Get that Primeape!"
Arbok and Weezing did exactly that, going after Primeape.
"Aren't we here to capture Pikachu?" Meowth reminded them.
"Team Rocket puts beauty before duty!" James stated grabbing Meowth and joins Jessie, Arbok, and Weezing in the brawl with Primeape.
Kairi grabs Sora by the hand as she drags as she, Pikachu, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Angel started running. Sora saw the necklace on the ground.
"Wait! My Necklace!" Sora called out.
"Pika!" Pikachu said as he stopped in his tracks. Pikachu runs up to the necklace about to grab it when Primeape noticed and jumped in front of Pikachu. "Pikachu!"
"Don't look at Primeape in the eyes!" Naminé warned Pikachu.
"Chu," Pikachu did his best not to look at Primeape in the eyes and focus on Sora's necklace, but his efforts were in vain as Pikachu got an accidental glimpse of the primate Pokémon's eyes. Pikachu backed away slowly. Primeape picked up the necklace once again and marveled at the shiny object.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"That's not good if Pikachu keeps looking at Primeape in the eyes," Sora said.
Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Angel nodded as they agreed as they slowly backed away not wanting to infuriate Primeape further. But Pikachu directly into Primeape's eyes, so Primeape got increasingly angered. Primeape comes charging at the group as they all knew that they were in trouble. They ran pass Team Rocket as they got right up.
"It looks..." Jessie started.
"...like Team Rocket's..." James added.
"...blasting off!" Meowth finished.
Over in a nearby canyon.
Team Rocket dashed off as they took a shortcut around the group to catch them off all ran as fast as their feet could carry them, but Kairi tripped to the ground. Primeape eventually caught up to them. Kairi was caught off guard as Primeape just ran pass her.
"Primeape isn't interested in me?" Kairi tilted her head. She got up and dusted herself off and ran after her friends.
Back with Sora, Riku, Naminé, Pikachu, Eevee, and Angel Primeape is still in hot pursuit as Sora got an idea.
"We have got to split up!" Sora said. "Maybe we can lose it that way!"
"Good idea!" Naminé said.
"Eevee!" Eevee said. Naminé, Eevee, and Angel went one way as Sora, Pikachu, and Riku went the other way. Primeape still chases after the boys.
"Primeape isn't easy to lose," Naminé said.
"Eevee," Angel said with worry in her voice.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
Kairi managed to catch uo with Naminé and the two Eevee. She stopped to catch her breath.
"I finally caught up," Kairi panted. "Where are Sora and Riku?"
"They went that way," Naminé pointed in the direction they went.
"We should get to them before they get hurt," Kairi said.
"Agreed," Naminé said. They all followed the trail. Over to Team Rocket, they begin digging another pitfall for the group to fall right in.
"They should be passing through here at any second," Jessie said. She was right because the three boys and their Pokémon came running in as they fell right in the hole.
Primeape stopped chasing them as it looked in the hole. Weezing set off a Smog attack feeling the pressure from the group. They all started coughing as they couldn't breath. The smog cleared up as they started to breath again.
"What the hell is a hole doing here?" Riku coughed.
"Weezing you imbecile!" Jessie yelled.
They all looked at Team Rocket as they were just shocked to see them.
"Not you again!" Sora exclaimed. "When you finally give it up?"
"Hey Pikachu! How about a ride on my head?" Jessie asked.
"No way!" Sora snapped at her.
"Eevee! Use Shadow Ball on them!" Riku ordered. Eevee fired Shadow Ball and struck them hard, making them strike the wall, knocking them out. Primeape jumped down, Riku summoned his Keyblade and held in front of Primeape. "Stop right there, Primeape. You wanna pummel him, then you'll have to battle me for that right." Primeape glared at the silver-haired Keyblade wielding Pokémon Trainer.
"Riku, what are you doing?" Sora asked.
"Showing Primeape I'm not afraid," Riku said. Primeape has accepted his challenge. Riku dismissed his Keyblade and took out a Pokéball and threw it, just in time for Kairi, Naminé, Eevee, and Angel to show up. "Squirtle! Go!" Riku called letting Squirtle out.
"Squirtle!" Squirtle said, entering battle.
"Water Gun!" Riku ordered. Squirtle fired his Water Gun attack at Primeape. As the water hits Primeape, the attack only makes him even more angrier as he turned red. "Squirtle, return!" Sora calls Squirtle back to his Pokéball. "Bulbasaur! Go!" Riku shouted as he threw another Pokéball.
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur as he entered battle.
"Razor Leaf! Let's go!" Sora ordered as Bulbasaur fired Razor Leaf at Primeape. Primeape punches through the leaves. The group gasped as they all witnessed their attacks has no effect whatsoever. Riku drew out another Pokéball. "Come back, Bulbasaur!" Riku said. "Go get 'em, Charmander!" Riku threw Charmander's Pokéball letting the Lizard Pokémon out.
"Charmander!" Charmander said.
"Flamethrower!" Riku ordered. Charmander fired his Flamethrower attack. Primeape ran towards his opponent dodging the fire attack. Primeape starts pummeling Charmander silly. "Charmander! Hang in there!" Charmander refused to stay down and attacked Primeape back.
"That's great!" Naminé said. "Riku! Charmander! I'm rooting for you!"
Sora and Kairi cheered for Riku as well.
"Okay Charmander! Flamethrower again!" Riku ordered. Charmander fired Flamethrower again. The attack launches again only for the attack to miss; in the midst of the confusion, Primeape drops the necklace. Pikachu runs over to where Primeape had dropped the necklace, but just before Charmander launched his assault. Charmander's mouth began to emit fire. Charmander jumps right at Primeape and gives him a fiery bite on Primeape's fist. Riku just smiled at the sudden new move that Charmander had just learned. "That was Fire Fang! Great!" Charmander fired one last Flamethrower right at Primeape. Primeape falls to the ground beaten.
Riku throws the Pokéball at Primeape, taking him inside. The Pokéball wobbles back and forth and stars swirls around the Pokéball confirming the catch. The Pokéball wobbles again surprising, everyone as the catch is confirmed with another swirl of stars. Riku's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Primeape with him. He chose to keep Primeape in exchange for Pinsir.
"Gotcha!" Riku stated. "Primeape is as good as mine!"
"Eevee!" Eevee said.
"Char, Char!" Charmander added.
"You caught Primeape," Sora said.
"I figured Primeape wasn't going to go down without a fight, so I figured it'll be the only way to stop Primeape in his tracks. Also, I could use a Pokémon like this," Riku said.
"Don't forget about us," Jessie groaned as Team Rocket and their Pokémon emerged from the hole.
"Looks like the WHOLE gang is here," Sora said, chuckling.
"It's your fault we ended up down here!" Jessie barked at Sora. She noticed Primeape was nowhere to be seen. "Wait, where's Primeape?"
"Closer than you think," Riku said, chuckling. He tossed his Pokéball in the hole. Primeape emerged from inside, screaming. Team Rocket screamed as Primeape starts pummeling them again. Primeape gave one final punch, and sent them flying in the air.
"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket shouted as they went flying in the air once again. A star twinkles in the distance. Riku called back his Primeape and smiled.
"That was quite a workout. How about we stop here for the night?" Riku suggested.
"Not a bad idea. I could use a rest after all the running we did. I should remind Karen to never talk me into a marathon because of this," Sora said.
The plus side is, there are no Heartless to fight here," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"You're right. I can hope that Team Rocket doesn't run into them. Even they don't deserve to have their hearts taken by them," Sora said.
Over to Team Rocket...
They fall somewhere in the canyon and they end up being surrounded by a troop of Primeape.
"Ooh, this is anything but good," Meowth said.
"Better a bunch of Primeape than the Heartless," James said.
"I would pick just about anything over the Heartless any day of the week, or maybe any month of the whole year," Jessie said.
The Primeape troop starts to beat Team Rocket and their Pokémon because they came crashing down in their territory.
"Maybe, we should have brought them some bananas!" Meowth said.
"I'm sure that might make them calm down!" James added.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow!" Team Rocket yelled as the Primeape pummels them.
