Chapter One-hundred and twenty-one: Natural Combat, part two

Dawn stood there as she saw Tsukune keep Tornadus, who the named Palkia had just defeated, pinned on the ground. As Dawn kept an eye on things there, she heard a voice call out to her, "Thanks for saving Team Scorn some trouble! I'll just be taking Tornadus off of your hands now." Hearing a voice speak up, Dawn quickly turned her head and saw a Team Scorn grunt approach her.

The reborn trainer scowled in annoyance. "...Figures that Team Scorn would look into the business of legendary Pokémon. I suppose that you're not the only member of Team Scorn on Milos Island?"

"The group of Team Scorn members here consists of a dozen rank and file, myself among that number," the grunt explained, "There's also First Captain Hiroaki, and his Captain's Assistant Ayana." Folding his arms over his chest, the grunt went on, "That annoying trio of goofs from Team Rocket's also here, but some of the rank and file are going to keep them busy while the rest of the company here collects the Forces of Nature."

Dawn, without turning away from looking at the grunt, called out, "Tsukune, continue to keep Tornadus pinned. I'm going to deal with our uninvited guests here." The named Palkia cried out in agreement while keeping the defeated Tornadus pinned.

The grunt smirked in amusement. Calling out a Pawniard, the grunt said, "You best be complying with me. You don't wanna get hurt, do you?"

Saying nothing at first, Dawn called out Leni. "Big talk coming from a nameless rank and file from a criminal team," Dawn replied, right before she and her named Lucario got ready to battle the grunt and his Pawniard. Dawn was also worried about the other Team Scorn members here on Milos Island, hoping that the rest of the heroes won't have too much trouble dealing with them.

...

Team Scorn rushed in to fight Ash's group in order to acquire Landorus. Not, of course, were the heroes just going to take whatever Team Scorn tried pulling laying down. Immediately the heroes sprung into action, with Ash even squaring off against Captain Hiroaki in battle. Right away, Ayana moved to back up the Captain who she served as an Assistant. However, the plump Team Scorn girl was cut off in her advancing towards Hiroaki by Bianca, who was wearing the shrine maiden outfit.

Bianca gave Ayana a serious glare. "...You're going to have to deal with me." Bianca took out a pokéball, tossed it up to call out her Pignite in order to make it perfectly clear to Ayana that she wasn't going to be allowed to do her job as a Captain's Assistant without a fight.

Ayana took a step back, realizing that she had to fight Bianca in order to get to Hiroaki to assist him in battle against Ash. Calling out a Lillipup, Ayana said, "You're wanting to challenge me more because it's my cousin who had killed your father back in Nimbasa City, aren't you?"

"I figured this could be good practice for when I get revenge on that murderous monster," Bianca scowled, her tone and expression both angry and bitter.

The plump Team Scorn girl gave Bianca a moment's consideration. "...What will you do if you ARE able to take revenge on my cousin? What is it that you plan to do to him exactly if you are able to get revenge as you see fit?"

Shrugging, Bianca said in her current tone, "I dunno. At the very least, I plan to beat him in a battle, capture him, and turn him over to the authorities."

Ayana scowled bitterly at what Bianca had planned so far. "...Knowing him, my cousin would prefer that you tried to do to him what he did to your father." That bit got a look of surprise out of Bianca. "...My cousin would rather die free," Ayana explained upon seeing the confusion in Bianca's face, "Than live as a prisoner behind bars. It'll really put a Beedrill in his undies if you get revenge on him as you've just described."

After processing things a bit, Bianca smirked in self-amusement. "...Then it'll be the way I'll go about making him pay for what he did." Bianca then proceeded to do battle with Ayana, wanting to get in that practice she mentioned.

...

"Ah ha ha!" Kenny laughed as a Team Scorn grunt stood before him in defeat; while Black was keeping Thundurus who was defeated pinned, the Team Scorn grunt came in and tried to tough talk Kenny into letting Team Scorn collect Thundurus. Kenny's immediate response was to send out Priestess, who proceeded to make quick work of the grunt's Sandile and Pawniard. Pointing dramatically at the Team Scorn grunt, Kenny said, "It was foolish of you to try to waltz in and demand Thundurus be handed to your group on a silver platter, for you see, I shall-"

"Get back here, you Team Scorn losers!"

Kenny was cut off when he heard the familiar voice of Jessie from Team Rocket cry out, then he and the Team Scorn grunt before him saw the Team Rocket trio chase a trio of defeated Team Scorn grunts. "Hmm?" James said when he looked ahead and saw Kenny and a fourth Team Scorn grunt, "Hey! It's the Sinnoh twerp with the shiny Sandslash who likes to harass us!"

"Team Rocket!" Kenny exclaimed, "You want some of what I did to the Team Scorn idiot here with me?"

"No time, twerp!" Jessie barked back, "These bozos from Team Scorn showed up here on Milos Island and completely derailed Team Rocket's mission here! We had even called Dr. Zager to warn him about Team Scorn's presence here and he said that he'd have to cancel coming here!"

"I have no idea who this Dr. Zager joker is, but I'll get the answers out of you eventually!" Kenny boasted. Kenny then proceeded to challenge Team Rocket, which had the unintentional side-effect of allowing the defeated members of Team Scorn sneak off without being held up.

...

Over in a secluded area of Milos Island, Ideku had successfully chased Enamorus into an area where she was boxed in and wouldn't be able to get away. She was already hurt, not to mentioned burned, from a Flamethrower attack she took from Tornupto, Ideku's alpha Hisuian Typhlosion, who came running up to join him. Still, Enamorus had more than enough steam left in her to fight off the human before her and his Pokémon. Given that he had Enamorus trapped, Ideku proceeded to battle the wild legendary Pokémon before him in a bit to help quell the chaos that was going on.

"Go, Meganie!" Ideku said as he sent out his Meganium, "Use Light Screen!" As Meganie set up a Light Screen to reduce damage from incoming special attacks, Ideku said, "Tornupto, use Infernal Parade on Enamorus!" the named alpha Hisuian Typhlosion conjured and cast a myrad of fireballs at Enamorus, striking her and making her cry out in greater pain that what Ideku was expecting. He then noticed that Infernal Parade, when it hit Enamorus, made her burn mark glow brightly; did the attack do more damage because Enamorus was currently afflicted with a status ailment?

Ideku had no time to think about that as Enamorus conjured and cast a Moonblast attack at Tornupto. Although the attack was powerful as it had come from a legendary Pokémon, it was a fairy attack hitting a fire Pokémon whose secondary typing didn't mitigate fire's resistance to fairy. Furthermore, the Light Screen that Meganie had set up further reduced the damage from Moonblast, letting Tornupto shake things off without too much trouble. Pointing forward towards Enamorus after she had been pained by her burn, Ideku called out, "Meganie, use Ancient Power! Tornupto, use Infernal Parade!"

Tornupto conjured and cast another Infernal Parade at Enamorus, striking her and making her cry out in great pain again as the attack made her burn mark glow again, before Meganie's Ancient Power flew right at and struck her. Sucking it up, Enamorus used Twister to attack Meganie, but it didn't do too much thanks to the Light Screen that Ideku had Meganie set up previously. After her attack, Enamorus was pained by her burn again, and from the way she hunched over afterwards, Ideku was able to tell that the legendary Pokémon was starting to be on her last (metephorical) legs.

Wanting to end things as quickly as possible, Ideku called out, "Tornupto, use Infernal Parade! Meganie, use Ancient Power!" Tornupto conjured and cast another Infernal Parade attack that flew at and struck Enamorus, making her cry out in great pain once more before she fell over onto the ground, collapsed from exhaustion. Seeing that, Ideku called off Meganie's attack, making his named Meganium stand down. Wanting to capitalize on the opportunity, Ideku took out a spare Ultra Ball, expanded it, and tossed it at the downed Enamorus while calling out, "Go Ultra Ball!"

The Ultra Ball flew at Enamorus, hit her, then took her inside before falling with a light clink to the ground. The Ultra Ball shook for a few moments before it eventually made a ping sound, indicating to Ideku that he had just captured a legendary Pokémon. Ideku went wide-eyed with surprise, a little unbelieving that he had actually just captured a Pokémon of as great of a status as Enamorus just now. But walking over, picking up the ball that held his newly captured Enamorus, and even checking it out with his pokédex made it clear that Ideku really had stepped into a realm very few people in the world have been able to pull off.

"..." Ideku looked contemplatively at the ball that held his Enamorus. "...I'm going to name you Cupidos." The roaming trainer from Johto decided that he'll get to work on training the now dubbed Cupidos later. Also, a part of him wanted to keep his capture of Cupidos a secret, at least for now. Ideku sent one of his on hand Pokémon to Professor Elm's lab in Johto, so as to add Cupidos to his party right away. Ideku then recalled Tornupto, but kept Meganie out. "...Let's go meet up with the others and help them deal with the other Forces of Nature," Ideku said to his first ever Pokémon.

The named Meganium nodded in agreement before proceeding to loyally follow his trainer back out to where the other heroes were waiting. Halfway through a cave tunnel, however, Ideku and Meganie were cut off when they were met up by a Team Scorn grunt. "Stop right there, would-be hero!" the grunt barked, "I'll be defeating you, then going on to secure the legendary Pokémon that my comrades and I saw you chasing off!"

Shrugging, Ideku said, "Trust me, you won't be able to secure that Pokémon."

"Then I'll defeat you in battle and go on to prove you wrong!" the grunt declared after sending out a Patrat to battle Ideku's Meganium.

Ideku gave an indifferent, cool look. "...Trust me, I'm the last person that you'll wanna try to get up in the face of."

Back where the majority of the heroes were fighting off the portion of Team Scorn that Captain Hiroaki was personally overseeing, the heroes just about got Hiroaki and his group defeated; in particular, Bianca defeated not just Ayana, but also two rank and file grunts after her. In a surprising twist, Bianca's Pignite won enough battles so that he ended up evolving into Emboar, giving the heroes a much appreciated boost in the power that they were fielding against Team Scorn. Within short order, the heroes got the last of Team Scorn under Hiroaki defeated.

"Yeah!" Ash cheered, "That's what you get for trying to take legendary Pokémon to fulfill your evil schemes!"

Scowling in annoyance, Hiroaki took a step back. "Guys, we're going to have to fall back," Hiroaki said, "We've been outgunned here. Let's gather the others and get going. Hopefully at least one of them succeeded in getting at least one of the Forces of Nature."

"Not likely, Captain Hiroaki!" a grunt called out, making him and everyone else turn to see a group of five Team Scorn grunts come running towards them. "I was defeated by the Champion of Sinnoh," the same grunt explained, "Our fellow assigned to try taking Thundurus was defeated by Kenny Harris, and the trio left to put that annoying group of idiots from Team Rocket lost to them. I have no clue on our fellow you sent after the boy who went chasing that pink Force of Nature."

"Team Rocket's here on Milos Island as well?!" Iris exclaimed.

"We were able to sneak away when Kenny Harris challenged Team Rocket," a different grunt in the group of five explained.

Hiroaki looked like he was considering something before saying, "Well then let's grab our fellow who went after that one boy who chased the pink Force of Nature. Luck permitting, we see some success there." Then, all of Team Scorn there went running off, defeated and with their tails between their legs.

Bianca scowled bitterly. "Oh no you don't!" exclaimed the blonde haired girl as she ran off after Team Scorn, prompting the others, including Landorus who hung at the back of the group, to chase after her.

...

Near the edge of Milos Island near the docks, the heroes aside from the still occupied Dawn and Kenny saw the group of Team Scorn members be met up by the final member of their number. "That boy defeated me," the last grunt said, "His Meganium took out all that I had."

"Then we risked all and lost," Hiroaki said, looking resigned, "It looks like Ayana and I will have to report the failure to Admin Swordsman."

"And when you do," Bianca called out, making all of Team Scorn on Milos Island turn to face her, "Give him a message from the daughter of the man he killed in Nimbasa City! Tell your Admin Swordsman that said daughter will be coming for him, she will beat him, then she will see him thrown into a prison cell right where he belongs, for the rest of his days!"

Ayana looked a bit concerned. "...My cousin may not like hearing someone challenging his freedom like that."

"Well tough tushy," Bianca scowled, right before Team Scorn sailed away in a boat that they had waiting there. Seeing them sail away made Lewis realize that the sea isn't as choppy now.

Looking around the island, Lewis said, "Do you think that Dawn and Kenny were-"

*KABOOM*

"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

*Sparkle*

The heroes present saw a trail of smoke lfy up from somewhere on Milos Island, then saw something fly out of said smoke right before it disappeared into the horizon with a sparkle in the sky. "...Heh," Ash said, "Sounds like Kenny took care of Team Rocket."

To the surprise of the other heroes aside from Trip, they saw that Dawn and Kenny had gotten Tornadus and Thundurus to behave by straight up defeating them. Furthermore, once Lewis was able to perk Tornadus and Thundurus back up with some spare Revival Herbs, he was able to convince the three Forces of Nature before him to help revitalize Milos Island. After Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus all do their part, things had been restored to normal while Lewis's Lilligant came out to show that she was all better. The same applied to other grass Pokémon native to Milos Island.

As the heroes watched Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus working to restore Milos Island, they were met up by Ideku. "Oh, there you are, Ideku," Dawn asked, "Say, where's Enamorus?"

Shrugging his shoulders, Ideku said, "Enamorus... isn't going to be a problem anymore." No one but Ideku himself knew that he actually caught the up until now unknown fourth Force of Nature, and he wanted to keep it that way.

"Ah, it must have peacefully taken off," Kenny assumed out loud, "Well so long as Enamorus won't be getting up to any shenanigans."

"By the way, we got it that a Team Scorn grunt tried confronting you but failed," Dawn said.

Ideku had a mildly suspicious look on his his face. "...So Team Scorn showed up here as well. I bet they were making bids to grab the legendary Pokémon."

"Team Rocket was also here, but Kenny chased them off," Trip informed the roaming trainer from Johto.

"This is most troubling," Cilan remarked in a concerned tone, "Multiple criminal organizations all gunning for legendary Pokémon. We're going to have to be on our toes if we're to deal with them in the future."

"The important thing," Lewis spoke up while holding up a bag full of Revival Herbs, "At least for now that is, is the fact that we stopped the criminals from carrying out their schemes AND saved Milos Island from its troubles." Holding up the bag full of Revival Herbs, Lewis said to the heroes, "By the way, this all here is for you guys. It ought to be enough for your troubles."

It was Ash who received the bag of Revival Herbs. "Oh, this ought to be plenty for Clay! Now we can challenge his gym back in Driftveil City!" The other heroes all cheered, happy that they've saved the day and are now primed to continue on their way for six of the eight of them to get their respective next Unovan gym badges over in Driftveil City. The heroes then celebrated, while Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, having finished all of their work, flew off to do their own respective things, giving hope that things in the future will be bright.

Sometime later, in the undisclosed location in Unova that Team Scorn was using as a base, Hiroaki and Ayana stood before Swordsman's desk in the Admin's office, at which Swordsman himself sat. The First Captain and his Captain's Assistant were giving their Admin a full report about their mission over on Milos Island, and how they had ultimately failed to take any of the Forces of Nature. After Hiroaki finished giving the last of the details on how he and those working under him over on Milos Island had failed, Swordsman leaned back in his seat.

The Admin of Team Scorn's Longsword Sector gave a resigned sigh that, to the curiosity (and mild relief) of Hiroaki and Ayana, didn't sound too upset. "There were too many things getting in your way for things to be done cleanly," Swordsman said, "It's bad enough that a bunch of would-be heroes where there, but also that annoying trio of idiots from Team Rocket. What made things even worse is the fact that Dawn Berlitz, Kenny Harris, and Trip Barley were among the present trainers who fought you guys off. The situation being what it was, I can't honestly hold you fully accountable for your failure. Luck simply wasn't on your side."

"So what now, Admin Swordsman?" Hiroaki asked.

"Hidaka is getting ready for a mission over in Chargestone Cave," Swordsman explained, "Those electric rocks are apparently worth a cool mint on the black market. I also got word that Professor Aurea Juniper is there right now." A look of knowing intent appeared in Swordsman's eyes. "...Her father, Professor Cedric Juniper, is doing some work that may be of use to us here in Team Scorn's Longsword Sector, given that we're aiming to find a way to bring about the legendary Pokémon Reshiram so that we can set up Boss's Assistant Ayane to capture it." Shrugging, Swordsman said, "Now, if that's all the news you have for-"

"Actually, cous," Ayana spoke up, interrupting Swordsman in the process. Swordsman looked to his plump younger cousin, a look of piqued interest on his face as he regarded her, given that she clearly has something to tell him. "...One of the would-be heroes we encountered on Milos Island is the daughter of the man you killed back in Nimbasa City," Ayana went on, "She told us to give you a message from her."

"...Oh?" Swordsman replied.

Ayana nodded once in the affirmative. "She... she said that she's coming for you, that she'll beat you, and then see to you being thrown into a prison cell for the rest of your days."

The Admin of Team Scorn's Longsword Sector let out a breath through his nose. "...Did she now. So she's aiming to challenge my freedom, even though I did her the favor of ensuring that her own would continue." Swordsman let out a mildly bemused breath. "...The work that we have to do here in the Unova region is getting more and more interesting, it would seem."

The following morning over in Driftveil City, the heroes were up and at 'em at the local Pokémon Center. After they all got freshened up, dressed for the day, did necessary party rotations, and had some breakfast, they made their way over to the Driftveil City gym. There, the heroes were greeted by Clay who, having been given what he wanted from the Revival Herbs the heroes brought back from Milos Island, was more than glad to begin taking their challenges. They were finally able to start earning their respective Quake Badges at long last.

Ideku was the first to go, after he made his case to the rest of the heroes and convinced him to let him have the first shot. Ideku was successful in defeating Clay and earning the Quake Badge; Ideku had used his Meganium Meganie to defeat Clay's Korkorok, his Simisage Vegichita to defeat Clay's Palpitoad (the reborn trainers were surprised to see that Ideku had evolved the Pansage he caught earlier), and his Quagsire Morlord to defeat Clay's Excradrill. With the Quake Badge in hand, Ideku gave Clay a nod of thanks for the battle.

Clay, appreciating Ideku's respectful attitude towards him and able to tell that he's a competent and experienced trainer, returned the gesture with one of his own.

In between Clay's battle with Ideku and the one he'll have later in the day with Ash, the heroes rested at the Pokémon Center while the reborn trainers decided to use the time to train up some of their Pokémon. To the surprise of the other heroes, however, Ideku when he got his Pokémon back from the Nurse Joy said that he was taking off immediately for the next place with a gym, which the Nurse Joy told him was located over in Mistralton City. Although sad to see a friend take off, the other heroes wished him luck, and Ideku did say that he was hoping to see the other heroes again later on down the line.

With Ideku having taken off, the heroes went on to rest and relax before Ash's challenge to Clay later on in the afternoon. Although for the heroes who were going to be taking on Clay, they were going to be training their Pokémon. For the initial training, the heroes saw Ash evolve his Roggenrola into a Boldore, Dawn evolve her Tepig Phoebe into Pignite, and Trip evolve his Snivy Loki into Servine. That was the progress that the heroes were able to make before it was time for Ash to take on Clay at the Driftveil City gym.

Despite how Clay had some misgivings about battling Ash, due to viewing him as having something of a devil may care way about training Pokémon, he still stuck to his professionalism as a gym leader and battled the Kanto region native. And to Clay's surprise, Ash ended up beating him despite his (Clay's) reasoning about him. Ash had used Servine to defeat Palpitoad, a spring form Sawsbuck to defeat Korkorok, and his Jellicent to defeat Excradrill. Clay, as he awarded Ash the Quake Badge he had rightfully earned, apologized for his prior attitude towards him.

Ash, in typical Ash fashion, said that it's water under the bridge as far as he's concerned, and then asked Clay for pointers on raising a Palpitoad as Ash had one of his own and was wondering what he could do to improve his Palpitoad's training. Clay let out an amused bark of laughter as he gave Ash a hearty slap on the back, nearly knocking the guy over in the process. With the battles Clay was able to have over for the day, the heroes made their way back to the Pokémon Center to, among other things, let Ash's Pokémon who had battled be rested and they themselves rest for the night.

The following morning, the first among the badge earning heroes who hadn't gone yet in battling Clay yet was Dawn. Seeing that all three of the Pokémon in Clay's team for challengers had weaknesses that Zancrow could exploit with his moveset, Dawn decided to use her named Volcarona as her first Pokémon against Clay, as she was wanting to see how Zancrow did now that he had mastered the moves Dawn had Leni and Akiza help him with. Zancrow swept Clay's entire team on his own, defeating Korkorok with Bug Buzz, Palpitoad with Giga Drain, and Excadrill with Flamethrower.

After Dawn was awarded her rightfully earned Quake Badge, Clay's Pokémon needed time to rest before the next challenger, who would be Kenny. In the meantime, the heroes got back to training their Pokémon. In that training, Dawn was able to FINALLY evolve her Grotle Muten into Torterra, her Prinplup Kowalski into Empoleon, and her Qilava Sticks into Typhlosion. Kenny was also able to evolve his Bulbasaur Cermit into an Ivysaur, his Chikorita Endive into Bayleaf, and his Sawdloon Shinobu had evolved into Leavanny. Giyu the Hisuian Samurott, upon seeing the troublesome Swadloon was now a Leavanny, looked shocked and worried.

Kenny was then able to have his battle with Clay in the afternoon and, like the other heroes before him he won; he used Priestess to defeat Palpitoad, Giyu to defeat Korkorok, and Moista Fista to defeat Excadrill. After Kenny got his Quake Badge from Clay, he was asked by Ash, Cilan, Iris, Bianca, and even Clay himself about how he used different than normal looking Lilligant and Samurott, as well as the Ursaluna. Two Hisuian form evolutions (with one being an alpha) and a Hisuian exclusive evolution. Kenny had really made an impression during his battle against Clay.

The day after that, where everyone had time to rest, saw Trip have the morning go at Clay. Using his shiny Tangrowth Bashir to defeat Palpitoad, his Abomasnow Veda to defeat Krokorok (Iris freaked out upon seeing the ice type Veda), and his east sea Gastrodon Tsunade to defeat Excadrill, Trip won against Clay, thus earning the Quake Badge in the process. After that, Trip asked Iris why she freaked out upon seeing Veda, and Iris explained that she's scared of ice Pokémon as they're strong against the dragon type, to which Trip pointed out that dragons are also weak to themselves as well as fairy Pokémon.

Between Trip's victory against clay and the battle Bianca would have with the Driftveil City gym leader, the heroes got back to training. Dawn, having Chi-Chi help lead them through exercises, was able to see her Combuskin Pakura evolve into Blaziken and saw Phoebe evolve into Emboar. Sluggo was also able to evolve into Granbull in the process as well, meaning that Dawn's only Pokémon she had that wasn't yet fully evolved (that could evolve) was her Charmeleon Amy. Dawn figured that she would be able to evolve Amy soon enough anyway.

Kenny was also able to see Cermit and Endive evolve fully into Veanasaur and Meganium, as well as see Kyo evolve onto Zoroark. Trip was also able to see Loki, Sinclair, AkiBot 966, and Tinkerbell all evolve into Serperior, Zebstrika, Golurk, and Garbodor respectively. It was right when Tinkerbell finished evolving that the Nurse Joy came out to inform the heroes that Clay was ready to take Bianca's challenge. Nominally, one would figure that Bianca, given her very limited collection of Pokémon (she only had Emboar, Minccino, and Shelmet), would have a very difficult time in defeating Clay, especially since Bianca's only real heavy hitter, Emboar, was weak to ground.

That is why Bianca was saved for last, as per Dawn's idea to have Bianca train until everyone else aiming for badges in Unova have had a chance to go before her. Dawn wanted to also focus on Bianca's Pokémon so as to give them the best fighting chance against Clay. To Dawn's surprise, she discovered that Bianca's Minccino had the hidden ability for its species, Skill Link. With that in mind, Dawn offered Bianca a Shiny Stone to evolve Minccino into Cinccino, which she accepted. Upon evolving into its new form, Bianca's Cinccino picked up a number of moves that took advantage of Skill Link, those being Tail Slap, Rock Blast, and Bullet Seed.

It also perfected Thunderbolt which Bianca said it tried learning as a Minccino, but that's besides the point.

Bianca's Shelmet knew Energy Ball already, and with Dawn supervising thing was also able to pick up Struggle Bug and Mega Drain. As for Bianca's Emboar, Dawn was able to help it learn both Brick Break and Earthquake. All of this training that Bianca had done was why she was the last among the heroes aiming to get gym badges to go against Clay. Thusly, Bianca was as ready as she would ever be in challenging Clay for her fifth Unovan gym badge. Dawn, as she and the other heroes watched, was figuring that, assuming Bianca won, it would be a close match.

True to what Dawn had anticipated, Bianca did indeed win against Clay, but it was very close; Minccino took out Palpitoad with Bullet Seed, Shelmet went down to Korkorok although its attacks did weaken it for Minccino to easily finish the job with another Bullet Seed, and Minccino was able to deal some damage to Excadrill before it went down. Emboar was able to get off Earthquake, damaging Excadrill a lot, but took a Drill Run in return. Fighting through the pain, Emboar landed a Brick Break that defeated Excadrill and earned Bianca the Quake Badge.

With all of the heroes who were aiming to collect badges now having won a Quake Badge each, they were able to proceed with their journey, which would next see them to Mistralton City. They would have to go through Chargestone Cave along the way, but with the seven of them together, many of them having seen their Pokémon get a lot stronger through training, they were ready for whatever trouble may come their way.

END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE

Author's notes;

This chapter sees the issue on Milos Island resolved, with Team Scorn (plus Team Rocket) driven off, and the male Forces of Nature are able to restore everything in the end. Ideku also captures Enamorus but no one else knows about it; he has reasons for wanting to keep his capture of Enamorus a secret, at least for the time being. Anyway, with all of that out of the way, the heroes get to finally challenge Clay. Since there's a total of FIVE persons in the group aiming to get Unovan gym badges, things had to be skimmed over.

I also wanted to get as many of the reborn trainers' Pokémon evolved as possible because otherwise they'd just sit around without progress made. I am very sorry if resolving this by just sticking it in 'during training' isn't satisfying to some, but since things will be picking up soon I don't think that there will be time for more training scenes in the immediate future. I did however make a note of it that Dawn's Charmeleon Amy didn't evolve; that will come later. Anyway, the next chapter will see some Chargestone Cave shenanigans, given it leads into meeting Cedric; Trip is also being set up to make a certain capture.
