Episode 40: How About a Little Smoochum?
A few hours have passed since Elekid has joined Sora's team. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were walking down an icy region. Sora and Kairi both wore warm jackets to combat the cold. They even shared a single scarf with one another.
They continued on when the couple were approached by a boy wearing a hat.
"Hey, you a Pokémon Trainer or what?" The boy asked.
"We both are," Sora said.
"Great! I'm challenging you into a Pokémon battle!" The boy said, taking out a Pokéball and held it tight.
"Sure thing. I could use a little warm-up," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and held it.
"Okay! I choose you, Scyther!" The boy called out. His Pokéball opened and unleashes a Pokémon that resembles a mantis. It is green with two wings that enable flight. It has two razor-sharp scythes for arms, cream-colored section between its head, thorax, and abdomen. Its feet are tall and almost extends its thighs, rounded, and conical; each foot ends in three small, white claws on its front side. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon
Type: Bug/Flying
Scyther are known for their ninja-like skills. They leap out of the grass and attack their prey and slashes them into ribbons.
"Here's my choice," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Elekid!" His Pokéball opened and his Elekid emerged from inside.
"Scyther! Use Quick Attack, follow by Cut!" The boy ordered. Scyther dashed right at Elekid.
"Dodge and use Thunder Punch!" Sora ordered. Elekid dodges and gave Scyther a Thunder Punch in the face. Not before Scyther gave Elekid a slash. Elekid goes down, but he wasn't out.
"Scyther! Use Swords Dance and then use Cut!" The boy ordered. Scyther slashes its arms about and multiple light-blue swords circle around it. The swords stop and point towards Scyther, end first, before disappearing. A yellow aura then goes upwards along its body, boosting Scyther's attack power. Scyther then dashed towards Elekid again.
"Dodge and use Thunder Shock!" Sora ordered. Elekid dodged and fired Thunder Shock, hitting Scyther. "Use Seismic Toss!" Elekid grabbed Scyther and gave it a toss downwards. Scyther was also down, but it quickly got up with a vengeance.
"Scyther! Use Cut!" The boy ordered. Scyther came at Elekid again.
"Dodge and use Thunder Punch!" Sora ordered. Elekid dodges and lands a Thunder Punch onto Scyther. "Use Thunder Shock to finish it off!" Elekid gave Scyther a Thunder Shock, giving Scyther quite a charge. The Mantis Pokémon has been taken down. The boy calls Scyther back and drew out a Pokéball that is blue with wild yellow stripes and a misshapen triangle formation in the middle. This is known as a Quick Ball.
"Go right in, Doduo!" The boy called out. A Doduo emerged from inside. Sora calls back Elekid.
"Great job on your first battle, Elekid. Get yourself a good rest," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Abra!" His Abra emerged from inside.
"Doduo! Use Aerial Ace!" The boy ordered. Doduo dashes right towards Abra and lands a heavy hit.
"Abra! Use Confusion!" Sora ordered. Abra lifts Doduo up and slams Doduo down.
"Use Fury Attack!" The boy ordered.
"Teleport!" Sora ordered. Abra teleports out of the way of Doduo's attack. Abra appears behind Doduo. Abra then started to evolve. Abra has become a primarily yellow, humanoid Pokémon. It has two long, pointed ears on top of his head, a red star on his forehead, narrow, deep-set eyes, and wide cheeks leading down to a thin snout. Extending from each side of its snout are two mustache-like tufts of fur. His torso is segmented with bulky shoulders, a thick, brown chest, and a small abdomen marked by three red, wavy lines. Attached to the Pokémon's abdomen is a large, thick tail encircled with a brown band near its base. Its arms are thin with brown elbows and end in three-fingered hands with white claws. Its legs have prominent knees and large, three-toed feet, also ending in white claws. Two of its toes face forward and one backward. He is seen carrying a silver spoon. "You evolved!" Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.
Kadabra, the Psi Pokémon
The evolved form of Abra
Type: Psychic
Kadabra holds a silver spoon in its hand. The spoon is used to amplify the alpha waves in its brain. Without the spoon, the Pokémon is said to be limited to half the usual amount of its telekinetic powers.
"Abra evolved into a Kadabra. That means he's learned a new move. Use Psybeam!" Sora ordered. Kadabra fires a pink beam of energy from his spoon at Doduo. It lands a hit onto the two-headed bird Pokémon.
"Doduo! Tri-Attack!" The boy ordered. Doduo forms an orb of yellow electric energy, light blue ice energy, and orange fire energy around its body. It then fires each orb at Kadabra.
"Dodge and use Fire Punch!" Sora ordered. Kadabra dodges and came at Doduo to deliever a fiery punch to Doduo.
"Use Pursuit!" The boy ordered. Doduo came at Kadabra and they both hit each other hard. Doduo was now burned from Fire Punch, and Kadabra has taken some heavy damage as well.
"Sora, Pursuit lands a hit when a Trainer switches Pokémon!" Kairi said.
"Good to know. Thanks," Sora said. "Okay, Psybeam!" Sora ordered. Kadabra fired Psybeam right at Doduo.
"Tri-Attack!" The boy ordered. Doduo fired Tri-Attack at Kadabra, but both attacks collides with each other and an explosion occurs between the two of them. The smoke clears and both Pokémon are knocked out. Sora and his opponent called back their fallen Pokémon. "You were awesome, Doduo. Get some rest."
"You did great, Kadabra. Rest up," Sora said.
"Let's make it one more match," the boy said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Lickitung!" His Pokéball opened and his Lickitung emerged from inside, but this Lickitung is yellow, and stars swirls around it. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Machop!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Machop came on out to battle. Machop flexed his muscles.
"Lickitung! Use Lick!" The boy ordered. Lickitung extends its long tongue at the Superpower Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Karate Chop!" Sora ordered. Machop dodges and gave Lickitung a chop in the gut. "Use Seismic Toss!" Machop grabbed Lickitung and gave it a toss down to the ground. Lickitung gets back up.
"Lickitung! Use Ice Beam!" The boy ordered. Lickitung fired a beam of ice at Machop.
"Dodge and use Low Sweep!" Sora ordered. Machop dodged and gave Lickitung a low kick, making Lickitung fall on the ground. "Seismic Toss!" Machop picked up Lickitung and gave it another toss. Lickitung lands on the ground, beaten. The boy gasped in shock, seeing that he lost the battle.
"I don't believe this! I lost!" The boy exclaimed, calling his Lickitung back. He walked up to Sora and shook his hand. "That was a great battle."
"Thanks. You did a great job raising your Pokémon. You should be proud," Sora said.
The boy smiled at that. Afterwards, the boy left the couple and they decided to head for the Pokémon Center to heal Kadabra, Machop, and Elekid. Smoochum is still behind them.
The Eeveelutions are still on their trail and continued to follow them.
Meanwhile, James and Meowth were shivering like crazy to the cold, because they didn't have anything to combat the cold.
"It's so damn could out there, I can't feel my own paws or my own tail," Meowth said.
"I hate snow as much as you do. I hate snow, I hate ice, I hate being cold, but Jessie actually likes this stuff?" James said.
"Snow, snow! I love it so!" Jessie sang.
"Jessie, you don't actually like this white fluff, do you?" James asked.
"I love snow! It brings back so many lovely and delicious memories," Jessie said.
"I think the cold air has gotten to your brain," Meowth said. Jessie looked right at her two colleagues.
"Hey, I'm being serious! Don't tell me you've never eaten a snow-gasbord before," Jessie said. James and Meowth were looking at her confused.
"What's a-" James started.
-"snow-gasbord?" Meowth finished.
"Snow-gasbord, one of the few cherished memories of my wretched childhood," Jessie said.
(Flashback)
Jessie is a little girl, dancing in the snow.
"Snow, snow! I love it so! Yay!" Young Jessie sang. A woman stepped out.
"Jessie, snow-gasbord's ready!" The woman said.
"Oh boy!" Young Jessie said, getting inside. Jessie is presented some dishes made from snow.
"Here are all your favorites. Some snow rolls, and some snow sushi samplers, and snow-covered potatoes with soy sauce, and for dessert, your favorite, snow pudding. Happy dnow-gasbord," the woman said.
"This is the best snow-gasbord ever," young Jessie said.
(Flashback ends)
Jessie is smiling warmly.
"Ah, nothing like snow-m cooking," Jessie said warmly. "Of course, only freshly fallen snow will do!" James shook his head in disbelief.
"You have got to be joking!" James said.
"Your mother actually made that stuff out of snow?" Meowth asked.
"First of all, I didn't say she was my mother, and second, we had to make due, because snow is low in fat. How do you think I was able to keep my sexy figure?" Jessie asked. James and Meowth just sighed.
"Well, we better get moving, because we wanna find them before the sun sets. We can go up and cut them off in the balloon!" James said.
Team Rocket inflates their balloon to be ready to find Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel.
"Enough traveling down memory lane, because we're on an important mission!" Jessie said.
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender-"
"Guys!" Meowth yelled before Jessie and James grabbed him.
"Stop interrupting, Meowth!" Jessie said.
"We were just getting to the best part!" James said.
"The balloon's taking off without us in it!" Meowth exclaimed. Jessie and James looked up and saw the balloon was floating without them. They frantically started to chase after it.
"Hey, come back here!" Jessie yelled.
"Don't leave us stranded!" James yelled.
"We need the hot air!" Meowth said.
Back to Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, they kept on going as a strong wind was blowing their way for the last six hours. Sora noticed his girlfriend is shivering from the cold air.
"Kairi, you okay?" Sora asked.
"I'm fine. Just a little cold," Kairi said.
"I am too. Hopefully, we can find a place to stay for the night before it gets worse," Sora said.
"I hope so," Kairi said. "Considering if there's even shelter to find to keep the cold out."
"You're right. It's not like an answer is just going to present itself to us," Sora said. Just then, a strong, cold gust blew them forward. Sora and Kairi fell in the snow.
"Whoa!" Sora and Kairi yelped.
"Sora, are you okay?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Sora said. "Must have tripped over something." Sora pulled out what made him slip; it was a rock. "Man, this rock is the cause." He gave the rock a hurl and it makes a big whole in the snow. Speaking of which, they kept on walking through the snow. The sun was starting to set. "Well, the sun's setting, but there's nowhere to stop for the night."
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"And it gets worse, because the storm's getting stronger and stronger!" Kairi said.
"Man, if only we're the only ones out here," Sora said.
Sora was wrong about that, because Team Rocket lost the balloon and built themselves an igloo.
"I don't believe this! We lost the twerps and the balloon. All of our food and supplies were in there," James said.
"Don't mention food. You're going to make me more hungry than cold," Meowth said. Jessie started to look at the snow for a few moments until she realized she has the answer all around her. She remembered her snow-gasbord stood up.
"James, Meowth, we have food all around us," Jessie said. James and Meowth looked at her.
"What are you talking about? What do you mean we have food all arou-" Meowth realized what she meant. "You're not suggesting that we make a meal out of snow, are you?!"
"That's exactly what I'm suggesting! You're going to eat it and like it!" Jessie said.
"Well, the plus side is, we get some nutrients," Meowth said. He sighed.
"Now, let's get started. James, gather some snow," Jessie said.
"Good thing I'm wearing gloves, otherwise my fingers would go numb after a few shoveling I'm about to do," James said.
Meanwhile at a small house, there are two Pokémon that live there.
One of them is a small, humanoid Pokémon that resembles a baby. It has a large head with blonde hair that reaches its shoulders and has large bangs. There are several tufts of hair sticking up on top of its head. Its skin is light purple with a cream-colored chest, arms, and feet. It has large, blue-green eyes and a pair of large, pink lips. This Pokémon is a Smoochum.
The other one is a bipedal, humanoid Pokémon that resembles a woman. It has a purple face, pink lips, saucer-like eyes, and long blonde hair. It wears a red gown with two gold circlets on the chest. This Pokémon is known as a Jynx. Smoochum is playing in the snow while Jynx is sweeping the front yard. Smoochum then spots the couples in the snow.
"Smooch, Smoochum, Smooch!" Smoochum said.
Jynx?" Jynx asked. Jynx turned and saw the couple in the snow as well. They were walking through the snow and shivered like crazy.
"Man, how did you ever let me take directions out here?" Sora asked.
"You did say it's not like an answer is going to show up," Kairi said.
"Jynx, Jynx, Jynx!" Jynx called out to the couple. They turned to see the humanoid Pokémon.
"Smoochum and Jynx?" Sora asked.
"Jynx, Jynx, Jynx!" Jynx said, gesturing them to come over.
"I think she wants us to come over," Kairi said.
"I think you're right, Kairi," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel made their way towards the house and enters inside. Jynx uses her psychic powers to lift their jackets off and uses her psychic powers to start a fire.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Jynx. It's a good thing you led us here," Kairi said.
"Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said.
"Smoochum, Smoochum," Smoochum said, handing her a flower. Kairi beamed and accepted the flower.
"Oh, it's pretty. You're really sweet," Kairi said.
"Smooch," Smoochum said.
Jynx led Sora to the table and started to feed Sora.
"Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said.
"I appreciate it, ma'am," Sora said as Jynx forced a spoonful of food in his mouth. Jynx made Sora swallow the food. He almost choked on the food. "I'm sure it's delicious, but I'm capable of feeding myself."
"Pi," Pikachu chuckled.
"Sora, it's not polite to argue with the host," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Jynx gave Sora a very full belly and he groaned as food is smeared on his face.
"Thanks a lot for the meal, Jynx," Sora said.
"Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said.
"I am very curious about you though," Kairi said as she and Sora each took out the Pokédex to scan them.

It tests everything by touching with its lips, which remember what it likes and dislikes.

The evolved form of Smoochum
Type: Ice/Psychic
Jynx walks rhythmically, swaying and shaking its hips as if it were dancing. Its motions are so bouncingly alluring, people seeing it are compelled to shake their hips without giving any thought to what they are doing.
"You must be quite a dancer, Jynx," Sora said.
"Jynx," Jynx said in a blush.
Back to Team Rocket in their igloo, they return with the snow they brought back.
"We have quite a spread," Jessie said proudly.
"So, where do we get started?" Meowth asked.
"I know how to make some snow rolls," Jessie said, making some rolls made right out of snow. "Ta-da! Jessie's snow roll is finished. Bon appetit!" James picked one up and took a bite.
"Nothing like ice cream; not even close to ice cream," James said in his thoughts. His insides got cold really fast. Meowth went through the same thing after taking a bite.
"Brr, I heard of heartburn, but heartfrost is a new one for me," Meowth said, shivering. Jessie took a bite and she beamed at the taste.
"Still delicious as ever since I was a little girl," Jessie said.
Back to the house, Sora and Kairi have let out Charmander, Magby, Kadabra, Elekid, Machop, Poliwag, Gloom, Ponyta, Raichu, and Jigglypuff out of their Pokéballs just so as Smoochum can play with them. Jynx looked at Smoochum and she sees her growing up, so she knew has to let her go at some time; it would either live in the wild or be trained by a Pokémon Trainer. So she looked at Kairi and knew she was the right Trainer to do the job.
"You like your new friends, Smoochum?" Kairi asked.
"Smoochum, Smoochum," Smoochum said.
"Oh, you're so cute!" Kairi cooed. Smoochum gave her a few kisses on both cheeks. Kairi giggled from the kisses.
Back with Team Rocket a few hours later, Team Rocket were sitting around the last bit of warmth they had, a small fire. The fire then goes out.
"This is just great. The last bit of warmth we have, and it dies just like that," Meowth said.
"Maybe, we should think of something to keep warm," James suggested.
"Great idea," Meowth said. He shuts his eyes and imagines himself in a hot spring. "Ah, this hot spring is delightfully warm. Just like clam chowder. Ah."
James imagines himself on the beach, sunbathing.
"This is the perfect place to soak up the sun. It must be over a hundred, but there's no humidity," James said.
Jessie imagines herself in the desert, wearing layers of jackets and a scarf.
"Oh my. I wish I had an air conditioner," Jessie said. "This desert is scorching. I don't think I've been so hot in my entire life. Yep, it's mighty hot alright." She gets back into reality and sees James and Meowth sleeping on the floor. Jessie slapped them both silly to wake up. "Wake up, wake up, wake up! You can't fall asleep!" Their cheeks are red and swollen from the slaps.
"Surf's up," James said.
"I can't find my rubber ducky," Meowth said. They started to fall asleep again, but Jessie slaps them up again.
"DON'T FALL ASLEEP, YOU IDIOTS! IF YOU DO, YOU'RE GONNA FREEZE TO DEATH! KEEP YOUR FREAKING EYES OPENED! JUMP UP AND DOWN! JUST STAY AWAKE!" Jessie yelled.
Back to the house, Sora and Kairi were led to the guest room upstairs.
"Looks like a nice room," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"A warm bed to sleep in," Kairi said. She turned to Jynx and smiled. "Thank you very much for your hospitality."
"Jynx," Jynx said.
"But I am curious to know how you ended up with this house," Kairi said. Jynx spreads her hair and telepathically tells the story to the couple and the Pokémon. It shows Jynx belonging to an elderly man. It turns out that the elderly man died when he was sick from an illness and lived all alone, until Smoochum was born. "Oh, that's it. You got this house after your Trainer died. I bet it's been hard for you."
"Jynx, Jynx, Jynx, Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said.
"Well, he chose the right Pokémon for the job. You took care of this house and you've been a great mom for Smoochum," Sora said.
"Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said.
On the next morning, they woke up and stepped out of the house.
"Thank you for letting us stay, Jynx. We would have frozen solid if you haven't called us over," Kairi said.
"Jynx," Jynx said. "Jynx, Jynx, Jynx, Jynx, Jynx." Kairi became curious about what Jynx is trying to tell her."
"What is it, Jynx?" Kairi asked.
"Jynx, Jynx, Jynx," Jynx said. Gesturing to Smoochum.
"Smooch?" Smoochum asked.
"I think she wants us to care for Smoochum for her. Is that right?" Sora asked. Jynx nodded.
"Smooch," Smoochum said sadly.
"Are you sure?" Kairi asked. Jynx gave off a pink aura from her body.
"I am sure. My daughter deserves a good future. I just don't want her to live a sheltered life. I want you to promise me to take good care of her, and make her the strongest Pokémon she could be," Jynx said through her telepathy.
"I promise," Kairi said. She turned to Smoochum, whom was crying about leaving her mother.
"Smoochum, Smooch," Smoochum said.
"Don't cry, Smoochum. Your mom wants you to smile for her. Can you do that?" Kairi asked. Smoochum nodded and gave Jynx one last hug. Jynx hugged her back. Kairi took out a Pokéball and opened it. Smoochum flows inside and stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Smoochum with her. She chose to keep Smoochum in exchange for Ponyta.
"Smooch," Smoochum said.
They said their goodbyes to Jynx and thanked her again for her hospitality, Smoochum took one last look at her mother before Sora and Kairi turned to her.
"I know you're going to miss her, Smoochum. I'm the same way. I miss my parents, too," Kairi said. Smoochum looked up at her. "It's true. There isn't a day I haven't missed them ever since I began my journey with Sora."
"I also miss my mom and sister. But the thing is, they're in my thoughts just like her parents are in hers. So, it's okay to miss your mama, Smoochum," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Smoochum was glad she wasn't alone, and she's going to miss her mother. She did already wonder what she was up to. Not long after that, they came across Team Rocket's balloon.
"Isn't this Team Rocket's balloon?" Kairi asked.
"Looks like they lost it," Sora said. "They probably forgot to tie it up or something. But we can use it to get off the mountain."
"It looks like it's out of fuel," Kairi said.
"I can fix that," Sora said, taking out Charmander's Pokéball. "Go!" Charmander emerged from inside. "Flamethrower!" Charmander fired Flamethrower right in the balloon. "Up, up, and away."
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Smoochum flew up in the balloon and floats upwards and forward.
Over to Team Rocket, they kept on pinching each other's cheeks.
"My cheeks hurt!" Meowth yelled.
"Mine hurts more!" Jessie yelled.
"After this, I'm getting a face-lift!" James said. They hear the balloon float by them.
"Look!" Jessie exclaimed.
"Our balloon!" James also exclaimed.
"Wait for us!" Team Rocket shouted after the balloon, only to fall off a cliff and land in a hot spring below them.
"What is this?" Meowth asked.
"It's a hot spring, just like the one you wished for," James said. Meowth beamed.
"I guess wishes really do come true," Meowth said.
"Whatever it is, I'm not cold anymore," Jessie said.
"It looks like we're warming up again!" Team Rocket shouted. Sora looked around for a sec.
"Did you say something?" Sora asked.
"No," Kairi answered.
"Huh, I guess I was imagining things," Sora said.
It didn't take long until they saw the next town ahead of them.
"Look! A town!" Kairi said.
"Great," Sora said. He turned to Charmander, still firing Flamethrower. "Okay, turn down the heat a little." Charmander decreased the heat as the balloon nears the town. One can wonder if Team Rocket made it off the mountain. Better see for ourselves.
Team Rocket are still in the hot spring. They get up, but they duck back in the water.
"It's too hot to stay in," Jessie said.
But it's too cold to get out," James said.
"We're going to end up hot feet and a cold head," Meowth said.
"We're all washed up," Team Rocket said at once as the wind blew their way again. And that's where we will leave for right now.
