Episode 49: Sabrina's Psychic Showdown

Shortly after dealing with Team Rocket again, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel returned to the Pokémon Center.

Ash and Leaf stood before Nurse Joy and her Chansey.

"Are they going to be okay, Nurse Joy?" Leaf asked with concern.

"Don't worry. They just need to rest here for the night. Charizard and Venusaur have taken lots of damage," Nurse Joy said.

"Chansey," Chansey said.

"Now, you leave it all to me and wait," Nurse Joy suggested.

"Sure," Ash said.

He and Leaf sat down as he sighed. Sora and Kairi both felt sorry for them and they walked up to them

"Are the Pokémon doing okay, Ash?" Sora asked.

"Just fine, Sora. Charizard and Venusaur, are resting right now, but they're going to be resting for the night," Ash said.

"Glad to hear it, Ash," Sora said.

"It was a good thing you two came along to help," Ash said.

"We had to. We are your friends, after all," Kairi said.

"And Leaf and I appreciate it," Ash said. "Also, did you see where Riku went?"

"He went with Naminé's dad to Naminé's house. I'm sure Naminé is glad to see he's okay," Sora said.

Right at Naminé's house, Naminé embraces her father with a big hug.

"Daddy, I'm glad you're alright," Naminé said.

"I'm fine, sweetheart. After all, you and your mother were all I can think about," Naminé's father said. He looked at Riku with a smile. "And we have this brave young man to thank for my rescue."

"I was doing it for Naminé," Riku said.

"And we're mighty grateful for it," Naminé's mother said with a smile. "Now, let's have a celebratory dinner for the occasion."

Riku, Naminé, and her father was down for that. Once the meal was ready, Naminé explained how Riku helped her when she was being bullied by some teenaged boys on the beach.

"And we have been traveling together since," Naminé said.

"I must say, you did a great job taking care of my daughter. I thank you for helping her out," Naminé's father said.

"Just helping out anyway I can," Riku said.

"Eevee," Eevee said.

"Naminé told me that you're a great Pokémon Trainer, so I wanna ask if you're taking part of the Pokémon League here in Kanto?" Naminé's mother asked.

"No, I'm not," Riku. Just doing some traveling around," Riku said. "Just thought it would be good to see the world, and see some Pokémon that live here. I was amazed to see Pokémon like Sandshrew, Vulpix, and Exeggutor."

"I take it you're from Alola. A nice place I heard," Naminé's father said. "I was hoping to have a vacation there one day."

"You'd love it there, I'd guarantee it, sir," Riku said.

Back in the Pokémon Center, Sora exchanged Venonat, Kingler, Crobat, and Magnemite for Pinsir, Butterfree, Umbreon, and Haunter and started to train for his upcoming Gym battle.

"Umbreon! Use Snarl! Butterfree! Use Bug Buzz! Haunter! Use Shadow Ball! Pinsir! Use Vice Grip! Scyther! Use Night Slash!" Sora ordered. The five Pokémon used their chosen attacks. "Great work, guys!"

"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.

Kairi and Angel sat and watched their significant others train hard.

A little while later, they took a break and they cleared out their backpacks. Sora and Kairi took the fossils and placed them as a boy came out and he smiled.

"Hey, are those Pokémon fossils I see?!" The boy exclaimed with excitement. "A Kabuto and Omanyte! I just know it!" He picked them up.

"Hey, what do you're doing?" Sora asked.

"Those are ours, if you don't mind!" Kairi said.

"Sorry, it's just I get so excited whenever I see fossilized remains of Pokémon! My name is Steve," Steve introduced himself.

"I'm Sora," Sora introduced himself.

"And I'm Kairi," Kairi introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you two. Say, would you like to come over to my lab? I have something I think you should see," Steve said.

Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel followed Steve to his lab. Sora and Kairi were amazed by scientific it looks.

"Wow, it's like something out of the movies," Sora said.

"Did you make all these yourself?" Kairi asked.

"I did. Took me a few months to get this place up and running," Steve said. "Anyway, those are not what I wanted you to see."

"What?" Sora asked.

"Come and see," Steve said. He showed them a machine against the wall. "Ta-da!"

"What is it?" Kairi asked.

"It's my fossil reviver," Steve said. Sora and Kairi looked at him funny. "I know what you're thinking. A fossil reviver, right? Well, I'm going to answer it! It does exaxtly that! And how it works, you put the fossils in the machine, and it shall do the work." Sora and Kairi took out their fossils and placed them down on the machine. "And now, we begin!" He turned on the machine. It shoots out energy on the fossils and it opens like a Pokéball, letting out two Pokémon.

One of them is a small Pokémon resembling a horseshoe crab. It is mostly flat with a protective, brown shell covering its body. There are two small, black eyes on top of its shell, which it uses for sight when it hides on the ocean floor. Underneath the shell is a black space that hides the structure of its main body. Only its four short, yellow legs and a second pair of luminescent red eyes are visible on its underside.

The other one is a small Pokémon similar to an ammonite. It has a sky blue body with ten tentacles and a pale yellow, helix-spiraled shell on its back. The shell's rim has two circular indents where its large saucer-like eyes protrude.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

"Vee," Angel added.

"It is done!" Steve said. "Kabuto and Omanyte, two prehistoric Pokémon."

"So cool," Sora said as he and Kairi took out their Pokédexes and scanned them.

Sora's Pokédex:

Kabuto, the Shellfish Pokémon

Type: Rock/Water

It is thought to have inhabited beaches 300 million years ago. It is protected by a sturdy shell.

Kairi's Pokédex:

Omanyte, the Spiral Pokémon

Type: Rock/Water

Omanyte is a prehistoric Pokémon that lived in the primordial sea, it swims by twisting its 10 tentacles about.

"It's so cool to see actual prehistoric Pokémon with our very own eyes," Sora said.

"It sure is," Kairi said. She turned to Steve. "You have a gift."

"Thank you, Kairi. Just know that I did a good thing for you two," Steve said. "So, which one had which fossil?"

"I think I had the Dome Fossil, so I think Kabuto is mine," Sora said.

"And Omanyte is mine, but let's make it official," Kairi said, taking out a Pokéball.

"Good thinking," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball.

The couple threw their Pokéballs in the air and they came down and struck them both. They flowed right inside the Pokéballs. They wobbled around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéballs to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Kabuto with him. He chose to send Kabuto to Professor Oak's lab. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Omanyte with her. She chose to send Omanyte to Professor Oak's lab.

"Done!" Sora and Kairi both said at once.

"Also, take these," Steve said. He hands the couple a bag full of items. They look like some metal items, some disks, light blue scales, and some some fangs. There other items inside it. "I have been meaning to sell those, but I figured I'd give them to you instead. I thought I'd give them to you."

"What are these?" Kairi asked.

"Oh, just some power-up items, and some other stuff I have no use for. I think you could make use of them better than I can," Steve said.

"I'm sure we can make good use of use of them," Sora said. "Anyway, thanks for the stuff and for brining the fossils back to life."

"Not a problem. And good luck along your way," Steve said.

Over to Jessie, James, and Meowth, they climbed down from the tree they land right in.

"Blew it again, blew it again. How will we be able to face the boss again?" James asked.

"Count yourselves lucky the boss didn't even notice us being there at all," Meowth said.

"Yeah, unless Archer told him," Jessie said. Meowth flinched.

"Crap, you're right. Archer will be digging a grave for us and the boss will be the one to bury us once we go in the hole," Meowth said.

Meanwhile over to Giovanni and Archer in the helicopter, Giovanni was growled in anger.

"Those three imbeciles were there without authorization?" Giovanni asked.

"Yes. They are always trying to please you, sir. I simply cannot understand why you bother to keep them around after the constant failures they deliever, when they could have delivered progress," Archer said.

"I can't either. But we will be making examples out of them," Giovanni said. "In the meantime, we have operations in the Johto region to attend to."

"Sir, what of the Viridian City Gym?" Archer asked.

"It no longer serves any purpose for me. I have no intention of ever returning there, because there are rumors of international police snooping around," Giovanni said.

A few days have come and gone before they heard Sabrina has returned to the gym, and Sora has gotten what the training he needed to get done. They reached the Saffron City Gym and they were allowed to enter the gym. Upon entering, they stood before a slim young woman of medium height. She has long black hair with shorter layers around her face and a fringe and small purple eyes. She wore a red and black dress which has black sleeves and a X right on it, she also wears green boots.

"Um, Sabrina, right?" Sora asked.

"I am. And may I presume you have come to challenge me to a Gym battle?" Sabrina asked.

"Yeah, I am. My name is Sora and I come from Pallet Town," Sora said.

"We shall have a five-on-five Pokémon battle," Sabrina said.

"Okay," Sora said.

The referee approached and the battle begins the battle.

"The battle between Sabrina, the Gym Leader and Sora, the challenger will soon begin!" The referee announced. "Both Trainers will be using five Pokémon each! Only the challenger will be allowed to make substitutions. The battle is over when all five of either Trainer's Pokémon are unable to continue! Now let the battle begin!" Sabrina levitated a Pokéball and threw it.

"Go! Mr. Mime!" Sabrina said, throwing it. The Pokéball opened and Mr. Mime emerged from inside.

"Mr. Mime!" Mr. Mime said.

Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Go! Butterfree!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened opened and Butterfree emerged from inside and fluttered around.

"So you have come prepared. Using a Bug-type against my Psychic-type Pokémon is a wise move. But will it be enough?" Sabrina commented.

"You'll see. Butterfree! Start up with Silver Wind!" Sora ordered as Butterfree flapped his wings pretty fast as firing silver crescents towards Mr. Mime.

"Barrier," Sabrina ordered as Mr. Mime formed a protective barrier in front of Mr. Mime. Sora and his friends gasped at that. "Now use Fire Punch."

Mr. Mime's right hand emitted fire as it punched Butterfree on the side causing serious damage.

"That must be how Sabrina deals with Bug-type Pokémon, plus with Mr. Mime being a Fairy-type Pokémon might be how she deals with Dark-type Pokémon," Kairi said in her thoughts.

"Shake it off, Butterfree! Come out fighting! Psybeam!" Sora called out as Butterfree fired Psybeam towards Mr. Mime.

"Barrier again," Sabrina ordered making Mr. Mime form the barrier again. "Now use Double Slap."

Mr. Mime moved towards Butterfree and slapped Butterfree silly. Sora didn't like how it was coming out, so he called Butterfree back. He put Butterfree's Pokéball away and pulled out another.

"Okay, Scyther! You're up!" Sora called out. Scyther came on out to battle.

"Use Fire Punch," Sabrina ordered. Mr. Mime came right at Scyhter with another Fire Punch.

"Dodge and use Night Slash!" Sora ordered. Scyther swung his forearm at Mr. Mime, slashing the Barrier Pokémon. "Use X-Scissor!" Scyther raised his arms and brung them down, landing a hit. Mr. Mime is sent backwards and hits the wall. Mr. Mime gets back up on its feet. "X-Scissor again!"

"Barrier," Sabrina ordered as Mr. Mime formed the barrier once again. Scyther came at Mr. Mime, ready to strike. The attack did hit the Barrier causing it to shatter. "Use Barrier again," Sabrina told her Pokémon. Mr. Mime tried to do so, but it didn't have enough energy to do it, and that was his chance to finish off Mr. Mime.

"Use Night Slash!" Sora ordered. Scyther came at Mr. Mime, and lands a hit, resulting in a knockout.

"Mr. Mime is unable to battle! Scyther wins!" The referee announced. Sabrina called back her Mr. Mime and she took out another Pokéball with her telepathy.

"You have succeeded by defeating my first Pokémon. But we shall see how you handle the next one," Sabrina said as she threw the Pokéball. "Jynx, go." Her Pokéball opened and her Jynx emerged from inside.

"Jynx!" Jynx said upon entry.

Sora called back his Pokéball and he took out a Pokéball and held it.

"Okay, Jynx is an Ice-type Pokémon, so I know which one to use," Sora said, throwing the Pokéball. "Pinsir! Go!" The Pokéball opened and Pinsir clamped his pincers together. "Pinsir! Use Vice Grip!" Pinsir came right at the Human Shape Pokémon.

"Block it with Psychic," Sabrina ordered as Jynx's eyes glowed blue and moved its hand sending the attack away. "Lovely Kiss." Jynx walked over to Pinsir and picked up the Stag Beetle Pokémon with her psychic powers and gave him a big kiss on the face. Once Jynx stopped kissing Pinsir, he was fast asleep.

"Pinsir, wake up!" Sora called out to the sleeping Pinsir.

"Now use Mean Look," Sabrina ordered as Jynx's eyes started to glow red and a shadowy image of Jynx's face appears before Pinsir. This causes Pinsir to wake up and shriek at the sight.

It didn't look good for Sora since he knew that he couldn't call Pinsir back as long as Jynx was still in play. He had to take the Human Shape Pokémon down quickly.

"Use Vice Grip!" Sora ordered. Pinsir ran towards Jynx with his pincers ready.

"Use Psychic," Sabrina ordered. Pinsir quickly went right at Jynx and squeezed hard. Jynx tried to use Psychic, but Pinsir kept on squeezing her, making it difficult to use Psychic.

"Use Seismic Toss!" Sora ordered. Pinsir jumped in the air and then came down fast. Jynx lands on the ground with Pinsir still holding on. Pinsir lets go of Jynx, and the Human Shape Pokémon is down and out.

"Jynx is unable to battle! Pinsir wins!" The referee announced. Sabrina called her Jynx back and she levitated another Pokéball.

"Go, Slowbro," Sabrina said. Her Pokéball opened and her Slowbro came right out to battle. Sora called back his Pinsir and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.

"Go! Umbreon!" Sora called out. Umbreon emerged from inside, ready to battle.

"Okay, Umbreon! Start up with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered

"Um!" Umbreon said, running towards the Hermit Crab Pokémon.

"Water Pulse," Sabrina ordered as Slowbro formed a ball of water above its head and hurls it at Pikachu.

"Pikachu! Dodge it!" Sora called out as Pikachu tried to do that, but the attack was too powerful to out run. Umbreon got caught in the watery blast.

"Breon!" Umbreon shouted getting hit.

"Pikachu!" Sora shouted out.

"Water Pulse," Sabrina ordered as Slowbro's formed Water Pulse and sends it right at Umbreon. The Moonlight Pokémon lands on the ground and got back up.

"Pikachu! Use Snarl!" Sora oredered as Pikachu fired Electro Ball right at Slowbro.

"Water Pulse," Sabrina ordered. Slowbro once again formed a ball of water and sends it intercept the electric ball. The two attacks collided causing an explosion. It created a smokescreen around the battlefield. No one could see anything.

Somehow, Sora sensed that Slowbro was close to Umbreon, so head to give the order now.

"Umbreon! Use Snarl!" Sora ordered as a blast of dark energy came through the smoke. Everyone was surprised by the sudden blast; especially Sabrina.

"Impossible," Sabrina said to herself. "How did he do that?"

Once the smoke has cleared, Slowbro was on the ground on its back with swirls at the eyes.

"Slowbro is unable to battle! Umbreon wins!" The girl announced.

"Three down, two to go," Sora said.

Sabrina called back her Slowbro as she looked at Sora.

"You have done so well, Sora," Sabrina said. "But your luck will run out." She levitated another Pokéball and hurls it to the field. "Go Hypno." The Pokéball lets out a Hypno, but this Hypno had more fur on the collar. Sora looked at Pikachu and decided to give him a rest for a bit. He called back Umbreon. Sora gets out Scyther's Pokéball and throws it.

"Back to action, Scyther!" Sora said letting Scyther enter the battle again. "Okay, Scyther! Night Slash!" Sora called out as dashed right at Hypno with Night Slash.

"Psychic," Sabrina ordered as Hypno used Psychic to block Scyther, stopping him from getting closer to it. Sora gasped at the sight. "Now use Hypnosis." Hypno swung the pendulum in her hand as Hypno's eyes glowed blue. Scyther looked right at Hypno and fell right to sleep.

"Scyther, wake up!" Sora called out, but it was no good. Scyther was fast asleep.

"Dream Eater," Sabrina said as a ball of energy flew from Scyther and right towards Hypno. "Finish it with Nightmare." Hypno's eyes glowed red as Hypno raised her arm to Scyther unleashing black energy from her hand. Once it got to Mantis Pokémon. He began to move around in his sleep making sounds, but wakes up screaming as Scyther falls on his back knocked out.

"Scyther is unable to battle! Hypno wins!" The referee announced.

Sora was shocked at the sight of the sight. He knew that Hypno was strong just like the first three, but he had to do something about Hypno's Hypnosis. Sora called back Scyther and took out another Pokéball and threw it.

"You gave it your best shot. You should rest up," Sora said, putting Scyther's Pokéball away and pulling out Umbreon's Pokéball. "Back to action, Umbreon!" Sora throws the Pokéball, letting out Umbreon. "Okay Umbreon! Use Bite!" Umbreon obeyed as he ran towards Hypno to land a bite on Hypno.

"Hypnosis," Sabrina ordered. Hypno hypnotize Umbreon making him fall right asleep once again. Sora knew what was coming next. "Nightmare." Hypno's eyes glowed red again giving Umbreon a horrifying nightmare. "Now use Nightmare again. Hypno raised her hand as a blue ball of energy flew right into Hypno's hand. "Finish it with Nightmare once again." Hypno used Nightmare on Umbreon, resulting in a knockout.

"Umbreon is unable to battle! Hypno wins!" The girl announced. Sora took out another Pokéball and threw it.

"Butterfree! Back to action!" Sora called out as Butterfree is sent back into battle. "Silver Wind!" Butterfree flapped his wings as silver crescents came towards Hypno.

"Evade it," Sabrina said as Hypno jumped out of the way before the move could land a hit.

"Don't let Hypno get away! Bug Buzz!" Sora called out as Butterfree's wings started to vibrate sending soundwaves towards Hypno. Hypno steps aside once more.

"Hypnosis," Sabrina ordered as Hypno hypnotizes Butterfree.

"Butterfree! Don't look at it!" Sora called out, but too late. Butterfree fell to the ground fast asleep. "Dream Eater. Then follow with Nightmare."

Hypno used Dream Eater first sucking energy from the sleeping Butterfly Pokémon. Then Hypno followed with Nightmare. Hypno's eyes glowed red once again and gave Butterfree a nightmare just like Scyther and Umbreon. "Butterfree! Wake up!" Butterfree's nightmare did a number on him.

"Psychic," Sabrina said. Hypno lifted Butterfree and threw him to the ground hard. Butterfree was out now.

"Butterfree is unable to battle! Hypno wins!" The girl announced.

Sora called back his Butterfree and he grits took out another Pokéball and threw it.

"Pinsir! Back to action!" Sora called out. Pinsir came back out to battle against Sabrina. "Pinsir! Use X-Scissor!" Pinsir came at Hypno with X-Scissor.

"Use Hypnosis," Sabrina ordered. Hypno hypnotizes Pinsir, making him asleep again. "Use Dream Eater." Hypno sucked up some of Pinsir's energy, dealing some extra damage. "Use Nightmare." Hypno gave Pinsir a nightmare, making Pinsir shriek in terror and fell back down, beaten.

"Pinsir is unable to battle! Hypno wins!" The referee announced.

"Sora has lost five of his Pokémon and Sabrina has already lost three. Sora will have to turn it around somehow," Kairi said. Sora called back his Pinsir and he took out Haunter's Pokéball and held it.

"Okay, Haunter is a Ghost-type Pokémon, and because he's also a Poison-type, there's a fifty-fifty chance, so I'll have to play my cards right," Sora said to himself. He threw it. "Go! Haunter!" His Pokéball opened and Haunter came right out to battle against Sabrina's Pokémon.

"Use Hypnosis," Sabrina ordered. Hypno attempts to use Hypnosis, but Haunter turns invisible, confusing Hypno. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel were just as confused.

"Haunter, where did you go?" Sora asked. He heard Haunter's laughter, knowing he was still around. Sora figured Haunter was just playing with his opponent. Sora grinned. "Haunter! Use Night Shade!" Haunter unleashed Night Shade, hitting Hypno.

"Use Psychic," Sabrina ordered. Hypno tried to use Psychic, but missed. Sora figured Haunter has moved while invisible. "Use Shadow Punch!" Haunter unleashed Shadow Punch, landing a hit onto Hypno. "Use Shadow Punch again!" Haunter unleashed another Shadow Punch, landing another hit, resulting in a knockout.

"Hypno is unable to battle! Haunter wins!" The referee announced. Sabrina called back her Hypno and she smiled.

"You battled well, my friend," Sabrina said in a kind tone. "You battled well." She looked right at Sora with a slight smile on her face. "You have really impressed me, Sora. Not many could have done what you have accomplished."

Sora chuckled as he scratched the back of his head.

"Thanks, I guess," Sora said.

"But now here is where it gets really serious," Sabrina said as she's levitating her last Pokéball. "Now you will have the privilege of fighting my final and strongest Pokémon. Go, Alakazam."

The Pokéball unleashes a humanoid Pokémon with a large mustache, but it appears to be short. It has a long, thin snout, narrow eyes, ear-like spikes extending from the top of its head, and an additional spike protruding from each cheek. Covering its yellow, skeletal body are brown armor-like sections over its chest, shoulders, forearms, and knees. There are three toes on each foot, each of which has a white claw. Two of the toes face forward, while one faces backwards. It wields a silver spoon in each hand. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Alakazam, the Psi Pokémon

The evolved form of Kadabra

Type: Psychic

Alakazam's brain continually grows, infinitely multiplying brain cells. This amazing brain gives this Pokémon an astoundingly high IQ of 5,000. It has a thorough memory of everything that has occurred in the world.

"That's what Kadabra will evolve into, huh. That means he's a lot stronger than Kadabra. But that won't stop us. Use Shadow Punch!" Haunter turned visible and lands a shadowy punch onto Alakazam. "Use Shadow Ball!" Haunter forms Shadow Ball and lands a hit onto Alakazam.

"Recover," Sabrina ordered. Alakazm heals herself as she glares at the ghost Pokémon. "Psyshock." Alakazam fired Psyshock towards Haunter hoping to land a hit. Then Haunter turned invisible again.

"Okay, Haunter! Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered as Haunter reappeared in front of Alakazam and gave her a shadowy punch. "Now use Shadow Ball!" Haunter formed a shadowy ball and sends it towards Alakazam doing serious damage.

Haunter turned invisible again. Alakazam looks around. Only Haunter's laughter can be heard. Haunter reappeared again and this time right behind Alakazam. He tapped her shoulder making Alakazam turn around, making Haunter invisible again.

"Okay Haunter! Shadow Punch!" Sora called out as Haunter's shadowy hands launched at Alakazam making some good hits.

"Recover," Sabrina said as Alakazam healed up, but not fully. "Psychic."

Alakazam's eyes glowed blue, but Haunter smacked Alakazam on the back making her lose her focus.

"Now use Shadow Ball!" Sora called out as Haunter fired Shadow Ball right at Alakazam. Alakazam steps back only for Haunter to pull a banana peel from out of nowhere and make the Psychic-type Pokémon slip and fall. Haunter gave the Psi Pokémon a black bomb already lit. Alakazam was shocked to see and it explodes, making Haunter laugh.

Haunter turned invisible again, but Sabrina really wanted to end it.

"Use Psychic on the whole battlefield," Sabrina ordered as Alakazam formed a psychic energy all over the battlefield. Everyone watched as they knew not even Haunter could withstand that. Sora was shocked to see that move.

"Haunter!" Sora called out.

"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu added.

Sabrina had a look of satisfaction as Alakazam has done the deed. But that was cut short when a whistle is heard and Haunter comes from out of the floor and waved at her.

"Way to go, Haunter!" Kairi also cheered.

"Impossible," Sabrina said. Alakazam was panting as she had used so much of her psychic power and it exhausted her mana.

"Okay, Haunter! Let's wrap this up with Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered as Haunter gave one last Shadow Punch to Alakazam. Sabrina was at a total loss of words as Alakazam has fallen on the ground beaten.

"Alakazam is unable to battle! Haunter wins! The winner is the challenger, Sora of Pallet Town!" The referee announced.

"He did it!" Kairi cheered for her boyfriend.

"Pika, Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu also cheered.

"Eevee, vee!" Angel also cheered.

Sabrina approached Sora with a bit of a smile on her face.

"You should be proud, Sora. You surprised even me. All I can say is congratulations for your victory," Sabrina said as she levitated something into her hand. She revealed a badge in her hand. It is two concentric golden circles. "As proof of your victory of the Saffron City Gym, I am pleased to reward you with the Marsh Badge."

"Thank you, Sabrina," Sora said accepting the badge.

"No, Sora. Thank you for showing me your power," Sabrina said. "All I request is you don't stop showing your power."

With that settled, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel entered the Pokémon Center to heal up Sora's Pokémon from the battle they just had.

"Could you have a look at my Pokémon, please?" Sora asked.

"Of course, Sora. It won't be long," Nurse Joy said, taking the Pokéballs and he heard his smartphone rings. Sora answered it and sees it's Karen.

"Hi, Sora. How is every little thing?" Karen asked.

"Hey, Karen. What do I owe the pleasure of this call?" Sora asked.

"Tell me, Sora. Are you and Kairi a couple yet?" Karen asked. Sora paused and he blushed.

"What do you mean?" Sora asked.

"It's okay, Sora. You can tell your sister," Kairi said.

"Actually, your blush is all I needed to confirm it," Karen said. "I had a feeling you two were already a pair by now."

"Did mom figure it out yet?" Sora asked.

"No, but she is bound to guess at anytime, as you know," Karen said.

"Is mom home right now?" Sora asked.

"No. She and Mimey went out shopping a few minutes ago, so I thought I'd confirm it for myself. And I got the answer I need. Anyway, where are you right now?"

"Saffron City. I just won my sixth Gym Badge," Sora said.

"Six Gym Badges? Nice. I'm gonna guess you'll be heading for Cinnabar Island next, right?" Karen asked.

"Sounds like a solid plan, Karen," Sora said.

"Well, I heard the Gym Leader there is a tough cookie there, so I think you should train hard for that one," Karen said.

"I think Sora has already got that in mind, Karen," Kairi said.

"I should be going now. And be sure to keep in touch," Karen said. "And I'll tell mom you said hello."

"You do that, and don't tell mom about me and Kairi yet," Sora said.

"I'll do my best, so cross my heart," Karen said. Back at home, she crosses her fingers.

"Uncross your fingers, Karen," Sora said. Karen puffed her cheeks.

"How do you know?" Karen asked.

"It's a twin thing," Sora said.

Nurse Joy approached Sora with the Pokéballs.

"Sora, your Pokémon are ready for pick up," Nurse Joy said.

"Gotta go. My Pokémon needs me," Sora said.

"Okay, you get them. Adios, big brother," Karen said, breaking contact.

"Thanks for healing my Pokémon," Sora said.

"You're welcome," Nurse Joy said. "I couldn't help but overhear you're making plans for Cinnabar Island, right?"

"That's right," Sora said.

"Well, I should recommend you train hard for the battle just so you can be properly prepared to battle against Blaine. He's known to use Fire-type Pokémon, so he will not be easy to beat even with either Water, Rock, or Ground-type Pokémon," Nurse Joy said.

"She might be right, Sora. It won't be easy," Kairi said.

"Yeah. None of the other Gym Leaders were easy to beat, but I didn't give up. I'm gonna use as much time as possible to prepare for the against Blaine," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"But I have you guys by my side," Sora said.

"You're right. You do," Kairi said.

Six Gym Badges down, two to go. Sora will be making his next challenge on Cinnabar Island for his seventh Gym Badge, but will Sora's training pay off in the end, or will Sora end up biting off more than he could chew? Just wait and see as we continue.
