Episode 59: Beach Blank-Out
Several days have passed since Sora's meeting with his deceased father in his dream. Along the way, Sora and Kairi came across several Heartless. These Heartless boasts a bright white turban and matching face mask, a purple vest trimmed in gold, purple pants with plum and silver trim that is held in place with a salmon-colored sash, blue curled-toe shoes, and a plum and silver choker, and set of armbands. They also wear lots of gold and silver rings and bracelets, perhaps showing off the spoils they have plundered. Their large gold-hilted swords resemble classic scimitars. These Heartless are known as Bandits. They Bandits swung the scimitars at the couple, but the couple clashed their Keyblades at the attacking Heartless.
A Bandit flips forward like a buzzsaw right at Sora. Kairi tossed her Keyblade at the Bandit heading towards her boyfriend, destroying it. The Destiny's Embrace comes back to her hand and she swiped at a Bandit coming at her.
"Thanks for the save, Kairi!" Sora said.
"Anytime, Sora!" Kairi said. A Bandit came right at her, but Pikachu fired Thunderbolt right at the Bandits coming at her. Angel fired Swift at the Bandits. Just then a few more Heartless appeared. They are massive, essentially spherical Heartless. A cousin of the more svelte Bandit, they boast the blue skin, turbans, face masks, and curled-toe shoes of their skinnier counterparts. Their dress is stereotypically Arabian, in keeping with the area they tend to be seen most in, and is bright and colorful, probably to distinguish them from the similarly shaped but more muted Large Bodies. These Heartless are clad in an orange, pointy-shouldered vest trimmed in light yellow, light orange wristbands, a yellow sash, and bright green baggy pants. These are known as Fat Bandits. They spit out fireballs at the couple. Sora blocked with his Keyblade and sends the fireball back, hitting the Fat Bandit. Kairi fired her Blizzard spell at one of the Fat Bandits. All three of them began go inhale and their bellies fills up. They then spew fire at them. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi ducked their heads.
"Whoa, that was close," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Those Heartless are just as tough as those other ones," Sora said. He then remembered the weakness the Large Bodies had. "Wait a sec! Their weakness should be the same as those Heartless. Their backs!"
"I hope you're right," Kairi said. She readied her Keyblade. They ran right behind right pass the Fat Bandits and they struck the Fat Bandits. There was one left. The last Fat Bandit's fist emits fire and pulled its fist back. It slammed its fist on the ground, but Sora and Kairi managed to dodge. Sora tried to get behind the Fat Bandit, but it swung its arms at Sora, but Kairi rushed in behind and struck the last Heartless standing. The couple panted from the fight they had with the Heartless.
"Good work as always, Kairi," Sora said.
"I was gonna say the same thing, Sora," Kairi said. Sora smiled, so Sora and Kairi moved in for a kiss on the lips. Sora kisses her right back. Their kiss is filled with so much passion.
As they kept kissing, they heard the sound of rustling and they saw an Oddish walking by. Kairi eyes the Oddish and she thought of having a Vileplume since she has a Bellossom. She turned to Sora and he nodded, knowing what's on her mind. Kairi quietly snuck by Oddish and she threw the Pokéball at the Weed Pokémon, making it flow inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Oddish with her. She chose to keep Oddish in exchange for Dewgong.
Two days later, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi have arrived in Porta Vista and right at Ventus's house. Sora knocked on the door and Ventus answered the door. He smiled warmly.
"Sora, Kairi! You're here!" Ventus exclaimed happily.
"Hello, Ven. It's good to see you again," Kairi said.
"How's it been, Ven," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Is your mom in, Ven?" Sora asked.
"She's in the kitchen drinking some of her tea," Ventus said.
"Ven, who's that at the door?" Aqua asked, walking up to Ventus. She gasped when she saw the couple. "Sora, Kairi! You're here!"
"Hey, Aqua," Sora greeted.
"It's been a while," Kairi said.
"It sure has," Aqua said. "Would you like to come in?"
"We would," Sora said. They step inside to see a woman with similar to Aqua, but she has long hair. She wore a black dress. She saw the couple.
"You must be Sora. You're a whole lot handsomer in real life than in the pictures I saw. And you were very cute as a baby," the woman said.
"Um, nice to meet you," Sora said.
"I'm sorry. I should introduce myself. My name's L'eau. I'm Aqua's mother," Aqua's mother said. She noticed Kairi with her, holding Togepi in her arms. "Oh my, what a darling Pokémon you have."
"Thank you. I'm Kairi," Kairi introduced herself.
"So you're Kairi. You're very beautiful," L'eau said.
"Thank you," Kairi said. Cattleya stepped out with a woman with long black hair tied in a ponytail. Cattleya has gotten a tad bigger due to her pregnancy. She beamed when she saw her nephew and his girlfriend.
"My little Sora! Oh my goodness!" Cattleya walked up to Sora and embraced him. "It's so wonderful to see you again. Same for Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, too."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"It's nice to meet you, Sora. My name's Lilac. I'm Terra's mother," Lilac introduced herself.
"It's nice to meet you, ma'am," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Terra came down stairs from the bathroom. He spotted Sora and Kairi in the house.
"Sora, Kairi. When did you get here?" Terra asked.
"A few minutes ago," Kairi said.
"Say, where's uncle Danny?" Sora asked.
"Dad went out to the store to pick up some watermelon and some fried rice," Ventus said.
With that said, Danny stepped in, carrying a watermelon and a cart of fried rice. He saw Sora enter the door.
"Sora, good to see you again," Danny said.
"Good to see you, too, uncle Danny," Sora said.
"I would like talk, but I have a watermelon to carve," Danny said. He heads right in the kitchen to carve the watermelon.
"So, Sora, how far are you in your journey?" L'eau asked.
"The last time we heard, you had at least four Gym Badges. How many do you have now?" Lilac asked.
"Six," Sora said. "I only need two more Gym Badges to go. And we're just stopping on our way to Cinnabar Island."
"Cinnabar Island? It's been a couple of years," Lilac said.
"Same here," L'eau said. "I would like to go."
"Anyway, Kairi and I did a handful of training to get me ready. We were even training just before we head there," Sora said.
"I see," Cattleya said. "And have you caught some more Pokémon as well?"
"Yeah. Also, our Pokémon also evolved during our training," Sora said. "Right, Pikachu?"
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"I want to say I'm proud of you, dear," Cattleya said.
A few minutes later, Danny came out with some watermelon and fried rice for his wife.
"Somebody ordered some melon and fried rice?" Danny offered. Cattleya began to wolf down the watermelon and fried rice like a vacuum cleaner.
"Slow down, Cattleya. No one is going to take it," L'eau said.
"I can't help it. It's been the same way since I was pregnant with Ventus," Cattleya said.
"It's true. I catered to her every need until you were born, son," Danny said. "The day you were born was the best thing that has ever happened to me." He remembered holding his son in his arm.
A few hours later, Sora, Kairi, and their Pokémon heads out for the beach to do some extra training. Spying on them from their Magikarp submarine. Team Rocket have broken out of jail a day after getting arrested in Domino City.
"At last we found them!" Jessie said looking through the periscope. "And Pikachu is right up for grabs!"
"But why do we have to keep peddling like this?!" James panted. "I'm getting tired from the peddling!"
"If only you can tired from flapping your gums," Meowth muttered.
"Stop complaining! We have to go after them!" Jessie said.
"Aye, aye!" James and Meowth said as they kept peddling. They peddled and peddled until they felt the submarine stop.
"Huh? What gives?! Why isn't this hunk of junk moving?!" Jessie exclaimed.
"We're trying to move it!" James groaned.
"But something is keeping us from moving! I think we're stuck!" Meowth also groaned. Meowth was right because tthe submarine was stuck between two big rocks. The submarine struggled to get loose. One careless thrust resulted in creating a big hole on the side and water started pouring in. "Oh crap! We're gonna drown!"
"This is all your fault!" Jessie roared.
"How the hell is it my fault?! This stupid submarine routine was all your idea!" James barked at her.
Team Rocket gets sucked out of the submarine only to intercept a school of tuna swimming by. Team Rocket along with the fish get caught in the net coming down and they get pulled up. Up above are two sailors on the ship. One was wearing a blue jacket with a blue sailor's cap a white beard smoking a pipe and the other was young and is currently on the controls. The younger sailor moved their catch on the deck and lets them out. Team Rocket gasps for air while Meowth has a tuna in his mouth. He takes the fish out of his mouth.
"How is it that I feel like a catfish?" Meowth muttered noticing the sailors in front of them.
"What do you think you're doing on me ship?" The captain asked.
"Well..." James started. Before they could fully explain themselves, they ended up swabbing the decks. "Well this blows."
"Just like that stupid get rich idea with that Magikarp several days ago! That con man took all our money and we took a worthless fish!" Jessie barked at James.
"Quiet down there! The sailor shouted. "More swabbing and less speaking!"
If you're wondering how James ended with a Magikarp, well turns out James bumped into a Magikarp salesman and he tricked him into spending all his money into him. And here's a flashback to explain it all.
(Flashback days ago)
It happened when Team Rocket were searching for Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi after they broke out of jail.
James was all alone when he came across a stand with a man with short brown hair and black eyes. He also wore a white shirt and black pants with a white bandana on his head. He has a Magikarp in a fish tank.
"Hey you there!" The salesman called out to James. He turns to him and points to himself. "Yeah you! Come here!" The salesman gestured him to come.
"What do you want?" James asked.
"What I want is for you to have a look at this Magikarp I recently caught," he said pointing to this Magikarp.
"What makes this Magikarp so special? It looks just like just about any other Magikarp I have ever seen!" James said.
"To the untrained eye it does; but between you and me, this Magikarp lays golden eggs," the Magikarp salesman said. "I'm only telling you this, because I like your face!"
"Golden eggs?" James asked interested.
"Indeed, my friend! And each egg is worth a fortune! I tell you that you will be richest man in the world with this Magikarp," The Magikarp salesman said in a whisper.
James began daydreaming about being the wealthiest man that has ever lived. He imagined himself sitting in a big golden throne petting a Persian holding a glass oc bourbon surrounded by mountains of money. James laughed himself back to reality.
"HOW MUCH?! HOW MUCH?!" James exclaimed.
"It'll be a $1,000, but I'll throw in a guide for proper Magikarp care for $1,000 more!" The Magikarp salesman said.
"I'll take it! I'll take it!" James said paying the salesman the total amount.
"Best decision you have ever made, my friend! And I guarantee that you will not be sorry!" The Magikarp salesman calls the Magikarp in a golden Pokéball and hands it to him. James walks down the street whistling that he's in the money. He waited until James was completely out of sight as he chuckled to himself. "That was even easier than I thought! It'll be a cold day in hell before he gets anything out of that Magikarp!" The Salesman laughs some more hoping to have some other sap to con out of their money.
(End of Flashback)
It turns out that they kept that Magikarp for days, but it did was flop around until James stupidly kicked the fish Pokémon making it evolve. The newly evolved Gyarados attacked them sending them flying once more.
"I said get to work!" The sailor repeated.
"Yes sir!" Team Rocket said.
"Put your backs into it you lazy sea slugs! I want that floor clean enough to eat off of! Move it! Move it! Move it!" The sailor shouted to them.
Back on the beach, the couple continued their training as a Slowpoke comes out of a cave with a King's Rock on its head. Kairi spotted the Slowpoke. Kairi looked at her new Oddish.
"Okay, Oddish. Move right out," Kairi said. Oddish heads right Slowpoke, ready to battle. "Oddish! Use Razor Leaf!" Oddish fired Razor Leaf at Slowpoke, dealing some heavy damage. "Use Stun Spore!" Oddish sprinkles Stun Spore and Slowpoke became paralyzed from Stun Spore. "Use Mega Drain!" Oddish began to sap some energy from Slowpoke. The Dopey Pokémon fought back with Confusion and Oddish is sent flying. Oddish gets back up on its feet. "Oddish! Use Acid!" Oddish fired Acid at Slowpoke, dealing some damage. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Slowpoke flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Slowpoke with her. She chose to keep Slowpoke in exchange for Wigglytuff. "Good work, Oddish!"
"Oddish, Oddish, Oddish!" Oddish said, jumping up and down. Oddish then started to evolve. Oddish has become a male Gloom. "Gloom, Gloom."
"I wasn't expecting you to evolve so soon," Kairi said.
"Gloom," Gloom said.
Taking a break from their training, Sora and Kairi have changed into their swimsuits and had some fun in the water, splashing each other. The same can be said for Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi. The Spike Ball Pokémon splashed water on the Pokémon couple. Ventus, Terra, and Aqua have joined in on the fun.
A few moments later, a woman in a bikini has approached Sora and spotted Pikachu with Sora.
"Excuse me," the woman called out. Sora turned to her. "Does that Pikachu belong to you?"
"Yeah, he does," Sora said.
"Great. I was wondering if you would like to have a battle against me," the woman said, taking out a Dive Ball and, held it in front of herself. "What do you say?"
"I guess I could use the practice for my battle in Cinnabar Island. How do you want to do it?" Sora asked.
"Three-on-three," the woman said.
"Fine with me," Sora said. She got into position to battle. Kairi, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua decided to watch the battle take place. The woman threw her Dive Ball.
"Go! Horsea!" The woman called out. His Dive Ball opened and a Horsea emerged from inside. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Magneton!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Magneton emerged from inside. "Ladies first."
"Horsea! Use Twister!" The woman ordered. Horsea forms a tornado and sends it right at Magneton.
"Dodge and use Lock-On!" Sora ordered. Magneton dodged Horsea's Twister and forms a target into Horsea. "Use Zap Cannon!" Magneton releases a yellow orb of electricity with a red center in front of its center and fires it at Horsea. The Dragon Pokémon ends up being paralyzed.
"Wow, so cool. Zap Cannon," Ventus said.
"You know what it does, right?" Terra asked.
"Um, not really," Ventus said.
"Zap Cannon paralyzes a target after it lands a hit. It's even more effective after Lock-On is used," Terra said.
"Use Water Gun!" The woman ordered. Horsea fired Water Gun at the Magnet Pokémon.
"Magneton! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Magneton fired Thunderbolt at Horsea, landing some extra damage.
"Horsea! Use Dragon Rage!" The woman ordered. Horsea fired Dragon Rage at Magneton and it did some damage.
"Zap Cannon!" Sora ordered. Magneton fired Zap Cannon at Horsea and dealt loads of damage, resulting in a knockout. The woman called her Horsea back and took out her next Dive Ball and threw it.
"Go! Seadra!" The woman called out. Out came a Seadra, ready to go. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Seadra, the Dragon Pokémon
The evolved form of Horsea
Type: Water
Seadra sleeps after wriggling itself between the branches of coral. Those trying to harvest coral are occasionally stung by this Pokémon's poison barbs if they fail to notice it.
"Okay, Seadra is much stronger than Horsea. But," Sora said, calling back Magneton. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Tentacruel!" The Pokéball opened and stars swirls around Tentacruel upon entry.
"That Tentacruel is colored differently," Ventus said.
"That's a Shiny Pokémon, Ven," Terra said.
"A Shiny Pokémon? How awesome!" Ventus exclaimed happily.
"Seadra! Use Dragon Breath!" The woman fired Dragon Breath at the Jellyfish Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Poison Sting!" Sora ordered. Tentacruel dodged and fired Poison Sting at the seahorse-like Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Dragon Breath!" The woman ordered. Seadra fired Dragon Breath right at Tentacruel, landing a paralysis. "Use Dragon Pulse!" Seadra fired Dragon Pulse at Tentacruel, resulting in a knockout. Sora called back his Tentacruel and the woman called back her Seadra. She took out her next Dive Ball and held it. "Okay, here's my third Pokémon! Go! Kingdra!" She threw it. Her Dive Ball opened and it revealed a large, seahorse-like Pokémon with a tightly curled tail. It is covered in blue scales except for its yellow, compact belly scales. There are thin spines with a single branch atop its head and thin, white fins under its cheeks. Its thin snout is powerful, allowing squirts of water jets with devastating power to be fired. Two-pronged fins extend slightly past its cheeks. On its back is a white fin supported by thin, blue spines similar to the ones on its head. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Kingdra, the Dragon Pokémon
The evolved form of Seadra
Type: Water/Dragon
Kingdra sleeps on the seafloor where it is otherwise devoid of life. When a storm arrives, the Pokémon is said to awaken and wander about in search of prey.
"Kingdra's way stronger than Horsea and Seadra, so I know it's going to be hard. Okay, better think of something," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Sora turned to his partner and he nodded.
"Okay, Pikachu. Go for it," Sora said. Pikachu stepped right in to battle against Kingdra.
"Let's end this quickly! Kingdra! Use Giga Impact!" The woman ordered. Kingdra came at Pikachu with its body becoming surrounded in a purple aura with yellow stripes of aura spiraling around the purple aura.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu dodges by using Quick Attack and Kingdra's misses completely. "Use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu fired Thunderbolt at Kingdra. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu swung his tail at Kingdra and goes down on the sand.
"Why isn't Kingdra attacking again right away?" Ventus asked.
"It's the effect of Giga Impact. It works the same way as Hyper Beam. Once it's used, the Pokémon has to recharge," Terra said.
"Okay, Kingdra! Use Dragon Rush!" The woman ordered. Kingdra charged right at Pikachu with its body giving off a dragonish energy.
"Dodge and use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu jumped and formed a ball of electricity and hurls it right at the Dragon Pokémon, landing a hit.
"Giga Impact!" The woman ordered. Kingdra jumped in the air and came at Pikachu again. This time, Kingdra came too fast for Pikachu to dodge. The Mouse Pokémon goes flying, but lands on his feet.
"Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at Kingdra, dealing some heavy damage. Kingdra fell on the sand, beaten. The woman called back her Kingdra and walked up to Sora.
"Nice job, kiddo. You should be proud of the way you raised your Pokémon," the woman said.
"Thanks. I'm gonna say the same thing about you," Sora said.
They both shook hands, congratulating each other for a battle well done.
A little later, they changed back into their regular clothes and headed back to Ventus's house. When they got back, they saw two other men in the house. One of them has a strong resemblance to Terra, but older. He wore a black leather jacket and wore blue jeans. This is Terra's father. The other man has red hair and has a white shirt and black pants. He has brown eyes and wore a pair of glasses. This would be Aqua's father. Terra's father introduced himself as Hank and Aqua's father introduced himself as Lionel. Hank and Lionel have been good friends with Danny ever since Ventus started to hang out with Terra and Aqua.
They got to get together to have their meal together. Danny grilled his hamburgers from his restaurant. Sora and Kairi explained to Terra and Aqua's families about their plan to reach Cinnabar Island.
"Hm, so to get to Cinnabar Island, you'll be needing a boat to get there," Lionel said.
"Yeah. And we will be checking out the Seafoam Islands along the way," Sora said.
"Sounds like a plan," Hank said. He turned to Danny. "Hey, Danny, doesn't Big Earl have a brother who lives in Fushia City?"
"He does. He lives in a houseboat docked there, so he can take you to where you need to go," Danny said.
"That works out great for us," Kairi said.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
"Toge, Toge!" Togepi chirped.
"Sora, you want, I could talk to Big Earl and he can have a word with his brother," Danny said.
"I appreciate it, uncle Danny," Sora said.
"Great. And you two can stay for the night if you'd like," Danny said.
"Yeah, we would like that," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Great," Danny said.
"Wonderful," Cattleya said.
"As long as we're here, you mind if I feel your belly?" Kairi asked. Cattleya smiled and nodded. Kairi placed her hand on her boyfriend's aunt's belly and Kairi's face lit up.
On the next morning, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi got ready to go. Ventus, Terra, and Aqua are standing out by the door.
"It was great to see you guys. And we'll be seeing you around," Sora said.
"You don't know how right you are, Sora," Terra said.
"Huh?" Sora and Kairi asked, confused.
"We talked with our parents and they said we can tag along right up to the Pokémon League," Aqua said.
"Yeah! I wanna see you in a Gym battle, Sora!" Ventus said.
"You sure you have your parents' permission, Ven?" Sora asked.
"He did," Danny assured. "We were against it at first, but he managed to convince us." He looked at Ventus. "Now, Ventus. You be sure to do what Sora and Kairi tells you."
"Okay, dad," Ventus said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi began to make their way towards Fushia City to get to Cinnabar Island. It took them a few days, but they got to the docks of Fushia City. They met up with a man who resembles Big Earl.
"Um, you Big Carl?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. You must be Sora. Big Earl mentioned you before," Big Carl said.
"We were told you can help us get to Cinnabar Island, right?" Kairi asked.
"You heard right, missy," Big Carl said. "Big Earl told me you were coming over. I'd do anything for Big Earl." The group started to make their to Cinnabar Island. As they sailed, Sora exchanged Magneton for Lickitung. Kairi exchanged Flareon, Jolteon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon for Horsea, Goldeen, Staryu, Politoed, and Dewgong. Sora has let out Blastoise, Tentacruel, Cloyster, and Kabutops to swim along with Vaporeon, Goldeen, Staryu, Politoed, and Dewgong.
The Gym battle on Cinnabar Island is closer than ever, but will there be an adventure before we reach Cinnabar Island? Wait and find out when we continue.
