Episode 61: Red Hot Battle!
In Professor Oak's lab, he is stunned to see an Ultra Ball appear right in his lab.
"Ah, so Sora has used an Ultra Ball to capture this one. Whatever it is, it must have given such a hard time. I wonder what he sent me this time," Professor Oak said. He opened the Ultra Ball and he was surprised and awestruck to see Articuno in his own lab. "My stars! Articuno, the legendary Pokémon! I wouldn't have believed it if I have not seen it for myself!" Articuno lets out a majestic cry.
Back with the group, they make their way to Cinnabar Island for Sora's upcoming Gym battle. The island is within their sights as the sun has already set.
"There it is. Cinnabar Island," Terra said.
"If it weren't for Articuno, we wouldn't have gotten here at all," Kairi said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Since it's late, we should head for the Pokémon Center to sleep for the night," Aqua said.
"I just hope they have room," Kairi said.
"Doubtful anything would be available right now, but you can sleep on my boat for the night if you're feeling tired," Big Carl said.
"That works out for us well, Big Carl," Kairi said. Big Carl smiled warmly.
"It's the least I can do," Big Carl said. "I suggest you head for bed right now, because I'm gonna take off for the mainland in the morning. The rest will be up to you."
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi all fell asleep.
The sun has risen and they all departed from the boat for Big Carl to take off.
"If you're ever in Porta Vista, feel free to pay us a visit!" Ventus said.
"I'd appreciate it! Give my regards for my brother when you see him, Venny! The same with your folks!" Big Carl said.
"I will!" Ventus said. Big Carl waved to the group and sailed off towards the mainland.
After Big Carl has left, the group made their way to the Pokémon Center and they saw Leaf in the Pokémon Center. Her face lit up when she saw Sora and Kairi.
"Look who's here! Sora! Kairi! I'm so happy to see you both!" Leaf exclaimed happily. She hugged them both very tight.
"The couple hugged her back.
"Hey, Leaf," Sora said.
"We missed you," Kairi said. Leaf turned to Ventus when she let go of the couple.
"Is that Ven? Oh, look at how big you've gotten, but you're still just as cute," Leaf cooed, hugging Ventus in her arms.
"You must be Leaf, one of Sora's friends from Pallet Town," Aqua said.
"And I'm gonna guess you're Aqua, and that's Terra. It's nice to meet you," Leaf said.
"Same as you, Leaf," Terra said.
"Is Ash here too?" Sora asked. "Or Gary?"
"No, I just heard from them. They went off to the mainland after they won their Gym battles. I had my battle with Blaine and he gave me a real run for my money," Leaf explained. She sighed. "It wasn't easy, but I managed to win my seventh Gym Badge. I can guess you're here for your Gym battle, Sora?"
"Yeah. Kairi and I did some serious training before we got here," Sora said.
"Yeah, Sora is an awesome Pokémon Trainer. You should have seen his battles. Just yesterday, he caught Ar-" Ventus said before Sora placed his hand over his cousin's mouth.
"As you can see, Ven praises me greatly!" Sora said.
"I can see that," Leaf said, chuckling. "But he is right. I always knew you'd make a great Pokémon Trainer, Sora. I don't care what Gary says."
"Thanks, I wasn't even think about him," Sora said, chuckling nervously.
Meanwhile, over to the old power plant, six boys are exploring the area, and looking for a particular Pokémon.
"This has got to be where Zapdos was last sighted," one of the boys said.
"That's what you said before," a second boy said.
"Well, this time I'm certain," the first boy said. "This power plant has long been abandoned, so it's a regular hangout spot for Electric-type Pokémon like Electabuzz, Magnemite and Voltorb. A flapping sound is heard. "Shh, you hear that?"
"Keep your wits up, because it might just show up from anywhere," the third boy said.
"There!" The fourth boy said. He saw that it is indeed Zapdos.
"It's Zapdos!" The fifth boy said.
"Let's get it!" The sixth boy said.
They each took out their Pokéballs and threw them. Out came a Muk, a Weezing, a Tauros, a Snorlax, and a Gengar.
"Hyper Beam!" Five of the boys ordered. They all fired a Hyper Beam at the lightning bird, only to dodge and unleash a Thunder at the Pokémon, shocking them.
"It looks like I got this one! He's been itching to make an attack!" The first boy said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Rhyperior! Go!" The Pokéball opens and lets out a large, brownish-gray Pokémon with two horns: a larger one on its nose, and smaller one above it. The larger horn is divided into three sections by two thin slanted rings, making the horn resemble a drill. Its hide is partially covered by orange, rocky plates on its head, shoulders, arms, waist, and knees. The hide of the Pokémon's armor has a mysterious substance. It has blade-like protrusions on its elbows and has holes in the palms of its hands which work as cannons or guns. It has three blunt, gray fingers on each hand, two gray toes on each foot, and a club-like tail. Its eyes have red irises with what appears be two thick, rectangular rocks above each one, resembling heavy eyebrows. "Rhyperior! Use Rock Blast!" Rhyperior's horn glows white and silver energy gathers in front of it, forming into a silver rock. Rhyperior then fires the rock at Zapdos.
Zapdos grabs Rhyperior in its talons and flew straight up into the air. Zapdos flew higher and higher. Zapdos then dropped the large Pokémon straight to the ground. Rhyperior has taken a lot of damage due to how high they went. The boys were shock because his plan to have a Ground-type Pokémon to aide them would work because of their immunity to electricity. The leading boy quickly calls Rhyperior back inside and attempted to take out another Pokéball. Zapdos unleashed lightning all around. This forces the group of kids to retreat.
They ran right out of the power plant, panting hard from all the running they did.
"Man, this wasn't how I pictured it was going to go down," the sixth boy said.
"Zapdos is way tougher than I thought. Even with a Ground-type Pokémon to aide us, we never stood a chance," the first boy said.
"How are ever going to stand a chance?" the second asked.
"I don't know," the first boy admitted.
Back on Cinnabar Island, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi made it to the Cinnabar Island Gym. They stepped inside the Gym, and looked around.
"Hello, is anybody here?" Sora asked.
"Yes, anybody is here," a voice replied. The lights come on to reveal a bald-headed elderly man with a white mustache wearing a black shirt under a white lab coat, a red tie with an orange tip resembling fire, brown pants, and black shoes. "Welcome to the Cinnabar Island Gym, challenger."
"I'm Sora and I came from Pallet Town. I have come here to challenge you into a Gym battle," Sora said.
"And how many Badges have you earned to get here?" The man asked.
"Six," Sora answered.
"So, you require two more Gym Badges it seems. I am Blaine, and I accept your challenge," Blaine said. "Before we have our battle; I will be testing you on your knowledge of Pokémon! Are you ready, Sora?"
"I'm more than ready!" Sora answered. "I'm ready for anything you can throw at me!"
"I like your attitude, sonny! But before we begin, I will explain the three rules of my quiz! Rule number 1! I will be asking you five questions and you have to answer the question presented to you on your own! That means no coaching from the peanut gallery!" Blaine looks over to his friends as they all understood the rule well. "Number 2! There will be no cheating! That means no Pokédex for answers. And Number 3! Every correct answer will earn you one point! The more correct answers you have, you the higher your chances for that battle! But if you get more incorrect answers, you will be disqualified from the match! You understand?"
"Yeah I do! Let's get the show on the road!" Sora said.
"I can see how eager we are! Now let the show begin!" Blaine pushed a button as steam shoots out. "Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the Cinnabar Island's Pokémon Quiz Challenge! Today's lucky contestant is Sora all the way from the little town of Pallet! Sora is a young Pokémon Trainer who had earned six Gym Badges and has challenged the Cinnabar Island Gym for his Seventh! I had already explained the rules to you; but shall we have a refresh of the rules or do you wish to get started!"
"I'm ready when you are!" Sora said.
"Then let us, begin!" Blaine said as he pushed another button and a booth appears to Sora. "Now here is the very first question!" A screen lowers down as Ekans, Arbok, and Onix are displayed on the screen. "Ekans can evolve into one of these two Pokémon here. Which one is?" Sora already knew the answer as he chuckled.
"That one is a no brainer! Ekans evolves into an Arbok," Sora answered.
"That your final answer?" Blaine asked.
"Yeah," Sora bluntly said. Dings are heard from all around.
"That is correct! And for every correct answer, you have earned one point! Moving on to the second question!" The screen switches to an image of Eevee, Pikachu, and Elekid. "Which one of these three Pokémon does not evolve by use of a Thunder Stone?"
"That would have to be Elekid," Sora answered as dings are heard once again.
"That is correctamundo! Now we're on to the third question!" Blaine switches the screen and it shows an image of Bulbasaur, Tangela, and Gloom. "Which one of these three Grass-type Pokémon is a pure Grass-type?"
"The pure Grass-type is Tangela! Bulbasaur and Gloom are Grass and Poison," Sora answered as dings blare off once more.
"You are on fire, Sora! Now let's see how hot you're gonna get!" Blaine said. The image switches to the word Steel appearing on screen along with the words Ice, Rock, Fairy, and Fire. "Which one of these Types is not weak against Steel-type attacks?"
"That one is Fire. Steel-type Pokémon are weak against Fire-type Pokémon," Sora said with dings going off.
"You are really hot stuff! Sounds to me like you did your homework. But let's see how well it gets you with the final question!" Blaine said as the screen displays the word Tomb Stone appears along with the words Dark, Rock, Ghost, and None. "Which one of these Types is affiliated with the attack known as 'Tomb Stone'?" Sora definitely had this in the bag now.
"Trick question! There's no such attack. So I would have to go with none," Sora had answered the final question as steam starts shooting out with dings going off once again. Blaine claps his hands.
"Congratulations, Sora! You have answered every answer correctly! I have to come up with harder ones since those were pretty obvious," Blaine said. "And as promised you get to have your battle with me! We will begin when our judge takes his position!" That was the referee's cue.
"The battle between Blaine, the Gym Leader and Sora the challenger is about to begin! Both trainers will be using five Pokémon each! Only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions! The battle will be over when all five of either trainer's Pokémon are unable to battle! Now begin!" The referee announced. Blaine takes out a Pokéball.
"Now for my first Pokémon, I choose Flareon!" Blaine threw his Pokéball letting out his Flareon. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Kabutops!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Kabutops, clashed his sickles.
"So, a Water-type and a Rock-type Pokémon to use against my Fire-type Pokémon, I see. Also, a prehistoric Pokémon nonetheless. I actually like the way you think, Sora, but I get the first move," Blaine said. "Flareon! Use Double Kick!" Flareon came at Kabutops with Double Kick, landing a couple of kicks before Kabutops could get a chance to dodge.
"Kabutops! Use Stone Edge!" Sora ordered. Kabutops creates a ring of green diamonds in front of himself, which turn into stones with green lines along the creases. He then fires the stones at Flareon, landing a hit.
"Flareon! Use Dig!" Blaine ordered. Flareon dug into the earth to avoid the rocks coming at it.
"Having Flareon know Dig to avoid damage is a smart move on Blaine's part," Aqua said.
"It must be how he deals with Rock-type Pokémon," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Kabutops can beat Flareon, right?" Ventus asked.
"He can if Kabutops can get a good lock on Flareon," Terra said.
Flareon erupted from the ground and attacked Kabutops right before Kabutops could react. Kabutops skids backwards. He regains his balance.
"Kabutops! Use Stone Edge!" Sora ordered. Kabutops fired Stone Edge at Flareon, but the Fire Eeveelution quickly dodges the attack.
"Nice try, but I have been working on my Flareon's speed," Blaine said. "Flareon! Use Dig again!" Flareon dug underground. Sora knew Flareon can jump out from anywhere at any moment, so he had to think fast. He looked at the hole and he got an idea.
"Kabutops! Use Hydro Pump, but aim in the hole!" Sora ordered. Kabutops went over to the hole and fired water down the hole. Water erupts from the hole Flareon has previously emerged from. Flareon is pushed out of the hole by the water. "Use Slash!" Kabutops swiped his claw at Flareon, resulting in a knockout.
"Flareon is unable to battle! Kabutops wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora's taken the lead!" Ventus exclaimed happily.
"Seems like it. But for how long?" Terra asked.
Blaine called back his Flareon and he smiled.
"You have earned a well-deserved rest," Blaine said. He took out another Pokéball. "Well done, Sora. I never thought I could have an opponent like you. Using Dig against me was genius. But we're only just beginning." He threw the Pokéball. "Ninetales! Go!" Ninetales emerged from inside the Pokéball. "Begin with Sunny Day!" Ninetales cries and sunlight shines inside. "Now, use Solar Beam!" Ninetales fired Solar Beam, hitting Kabutops. Due to his weakness against Grass-type moves, Kabutops has taken lots of damage and is knocked out.
"Kabutops is unable to battle! Ninetales wins!" The referee announced. Sora called back Kabutops and he sighed.
"You did your best, Kabutops Get some rest," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn, Aerodactyl!" Aerodactyl emerged from inside and flew around.
"Another prehistoric Pokémon, I see. Regardless, will your efforts be enough?" Blaine asked. "Ninetales! Solar Beam!" Ninetales fired Solar Beam at the pterodactyl Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Multiple stones appear behind Aerodactyl in the shape of a ring. It then flies forward, sending the stones flying towards Ninetales, landing some damage. "Wing Attack!" Aerodactyl flew right at Ninetales, dealing some extra damage. "Use Stone Edge!" Aerodactyl forms stones all around. Aerodactyl sends the stones right at the Fox Pokémon.
"Ninetales! Use Mystical Fire!" Blaine ordered. Ninetales stood up and a ring of red-orange fire in front of itself. It then releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth and right at Aerodactyl.
"Dodge and use Stone Edge!" Sora ordered. Aerodactyl dodged Ninetales's attack and sends Stone Edge right at the Fox Pokémon, dealing some damage. "Use Wing Attack!" Aerodactyl flew at Ninetales and deals some extra damage. Ninetales had been taken down.
"Ninetales is unable to battle! Aerodactyl wins!" The referee announced. Blaine called back Ninetales and smiled.
"Not bad, not bad. Now, let's see how you handle my next Pokémon," Blaine said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Rapidash! Go!" Rapidash whinnies upon entry. Sora calls back Aerodactyl and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Lapras! It's your turn!" Sora said as Lapras emerged from inside his Pokéball.
"So, it's a Lapras you're throwing at me now! Smart move on your part there, son! Rapidash! Use High Horsepower!" Blaine ordered as Rapidash charged right at the transport Pokémon with tremendous speed.
"Lapras! Body Slam!" Sora called out as Lapras slammed her body right to Rapidash before it could land a hit. Lapras got up as Rapidash slowly got up. "Okay, now use Ice Beam!" Lapras fired Ice Beam right at the Fire Horse Pokémon. Blaine just smirked.
"You must be off your element, kid! Ice won't do much against my Rapidash! Block that with Fire Blast!" Blaine called out as Rapidash sent out Fire Blast towards Lapras, cutting through the attack.
"Lapras! Use Surf now!" Sora called out as Lapras formed some water and rode the surf heading towards Blaine's Rapidash.
"Rapidash! Try to dodge it!" Blaine called out as Rapidash galloped towards one of the walls and jumped to avoid the attack. The attack had completely missed its target. "Now use Flame Charge!" Rapidash stomped its forelegs and charged towards Lapras.
"Lapras! Water Gun!" Sora ordered as Lapras fired Water Gun. Lapras's attack just missed as Rapidash charged straight to Lapras, hitting her good. "Now use Body Slam again!" Lapras slammed her body as Rapidash just jumped out of the way.
"Man, Flame Charge is gonna give me such a hard time since it builds up speed from every use," Sora said.
"Now use Wild Charge!" Rapidash runs at Lapras. Its body then becomes surrounded by yellow electricity, and it tackles into Lapras, causing heavy damage giving Rapidash recoil damage. Lapras was knocked out.
"Lapras is unable to battle! Rapidash wins!" The referee announced.
Sora knew Wild Charge is a move that deals with Water-type Pokémon, so it turned out even harder than he thought it would be.
Sora calls Lapras back and looks at Blaine's Rapidash and saw how exhausted it got from that intense battle. He had to take this to the skies again. Sora took out Aerodactyl's Pokéball and threw it.
"Aerodactyl! Back to action!" Sora called out. Aerodactyl came back out to battle.
"You're sending Aerodactyl back out, I see. Let's see how much longer it can stay out. Rapidash! Use Flame Charge!" Blaine ordered as Rapidash charged right at Aerodactyl with fiery speed. Rapidash came tok fast for Aerodactyl to dodge. "Wild Charge!" Rapidash charged right at Fossil Pokémon with electricity coming out its body.
"Rock Slide!" Sora called out as Aerodactyl hurled the rocks right at the equine Pokémon. With more rocks on the battlefield, it became more difficult to keep Rapidash's speed up. "Now use Wing Attack!" Aerodactyl charged right into Rapidash, knocking it out.
"Rapidash is unable to battle! Aerodactyl wins!" The referee announced.
"Yeah! Way to go, Sora! Yes!" Sora's girlfriend and cousin cheered on.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel also cheered.
"Three down, two to go!" Ventus exclaimed happily.
Blaine calls back his Rapidash and grins as he takes out another Pokéball.
"Clever of you to trump speed with speed. But this one won't be so easy! Magmortar! Go!" Blaine throws his Pokéball and it lets out a Magmortar. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon he saw.
Magmortar, the Blast Pokémon
The evolved form of Magmar
Type: Fire
When launching 3,600 degrees F fireballs, its body takes on a whitish hue from the intense heat.
"Definitely deserves to be called the Blast Pokémon since it has those cannons on its arms," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away. He pulls out his Pokéball and calls back Aerodactyl. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Poliwrath!" His Pokéball opened and lets out Poliwrath. "Poliwrath! Use Hydro Pump!" Poliwrath fired Hydro Pump at Magmortar.
"Use Lava Plume!" Blaine ordered. Magmortar causes an explosion around it, creating a mix of smog and fire to cover the area and hits Poliwrath, cancelling his attacking.
"Use Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered. Poliwrath came at Magmortar with a powerful punch attack.
"Use Thunder Punch!" Blaine called out as Magmortar threw an electrifying punch right at Poliwrath. "Now use Thunderbolt!" Magmortar fires Thunderbolt from its arm cannons heading straight to the Tadpole Pokémon.
"Use Water Pulse!" Sora ordered as Poliwrath forms a ball of water and sends it right at Magmortar's attack. It collides with Thunderbolt, resulting in a small explosion. "Now use one more Power-Up Punch!" Poliwrath starts running right at Magmortar, but Blaine wasn't finished yet.
"Use Thunder Punch!" Blaine ordered as Magmortar rushes to Poliwrath hoping to finish him off. The two attacks collided with each other and it causes an explosion. Both Poliwrath and Magmortar were knocked out.
"Magmortar and Poliwrath are both unable to battle! This round is a draw!"
"Sora has two left while Blaine just has one," Ventus said. "This battle is so exciting!"
"Blaine is probably saving his ace for last," Terra said.
Sora and Blaine calls back their fallen Pokémon.
"Well, this is unexpected. You're down to two and I'm down to one. But don't think that you will be able to take my last Pokémon down so easily," Blaine said.
"I'm ready for whatever you can throw at me, Blaine!" Sora said.
"I don't doubt it! Now, Arcanine! Go!" Blaine said as he took out his last Pokéball and threw it letting out his Arcanine. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Arcanine, the Legandary Pokémon
The evolved form of Growlithe
Type: Fire
Arcanine is known for its high speed. It is said to be capable of running over 6,200 miles in a single day and night. The fire that blazes wildly within this Pokémon's body is its source of power.
"Wow, to think Growlithe can evolve into that Pokémon," Sora said in his thoughts. Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it. He called out, "Aerodactyl! Back to action!" Aerodactyl came back out to battle. "Use Stone Edge!" Aerodactyl hurls the stones right at Arcanine, hoping it'll do some damage to him.
"Arcanine! Extreme Speed!" Blaine ordered as Arcanine rushed to Aerodactyl with furious speed. "Now use Fire Flast!" Arcanine fired Fire Blast right at the wolf Pokémon causing an explosion. Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua covered their eyes and mouths not to breathe in the smoke. Once the smoke cleared, Aerodactyl had been knocked out.
"Aerodactyl is unable to battle! Arcanine wins!" Mr. Fuji announced.
"Both now has one Pokémon each," Kairi said holding Togepi tightly in her arms.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Sora can beat it! I know he can!" Ventus said rooting for his cousin. Sora took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"I'm counting on you, Blastoise!" Sora shouted as the Pokéball lets out Blastoise.
"Blast!" Blastoise shouted as he brought out his cannons.
"Not surprising that you had another Water-type Pokémon standing by, Sora. But your Blastoise is going to make a big splash just like your other Water-types," Blaine said.
"Not if your Arcanine makes a splash first!" Sora countered. "Blastoise! Aqua Jet!"
"Blastoise!" Blastoise launched himself towards Arcanine like a torpedo.
"Arcanine! Extreme Speed!" Blaine shouted as Arcanine rushed to Blastoise. The two attacks hit one another only to be taken back. "Use Fire Blast!" Arcanine launched Fire Blast right towards Blastoise. Sora had to think fast.
"Fire Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump from his cannons, putting out the fire attack. "Now use Flash Cannon!" Blastoise fired a white beam of energy right towards Arcanine. The attack does hit sending the canine Pokémon back.
"Arcanine! Thunder Fang!" Blaine ordered as Arcanine lunged at Blastoise with its jaws emitting electricity. Blastoise tried to moved only to have his arm bitten.
"Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered as Blastoise fired water from his cannon once again. "Now use Water Pulse!" Blastoise formed a huge ball of water and hurled it right to Arcanine.
"Arcanine! Use another Thunder Fang!" Blaine called out. Arcanine got dizzy from the attack and ran into wall because of its confusion.
"What just happened?" Ventus asked. "Arcanine is totally confused."
"Water Pulse can make that happen when it hits," Aqua said.
"And now Sora can take advantage of Arcanine's confusion," Terra said.
"Okay Blastoise! Hydro Pump again!" Sora ordered as Blastoise fired his Hydro Pump right at Arcanine. Arcanine then started to run around in circles.
"Arcanine! Snap out of it!" Blaine called out.
"Now wrap this up with Aqua Jet!" Sora ordered as Blastoise launched himself to Arcanine giving it a very, very good hit. Everyone waited with anticipation seeing if it was enough to take Arcanine down. It tried to get up, but had trouble doing so. Arcanine fell back down knocked out.
"Arcanine is unable to battle! Blastoise wins! The victor is Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. Blaine was at a total loss of words.
"I can't believe it. I actually lost to that kid," Blaine said falling on his knees. He didn't know how to take it, but he ended up smiling and he stood back on his feet. He smiled as he walked up to Sora. "Congratulations, Sora. In all my years as Gym Leader, I had never enjoyed a battle such as this one! And after that display of power you had just shown me, you deserve to win! And so it pleases me to reward you with this!" Blaine said, taking out a red badge shaped like a flame with a small pink diamond in the center out of his pocket. "You have truly earned the Volcano Badge!"
"Thanks, Blaine," Sora said, taking the badge from him.
"Oh no, thank you. I enjoyed our battle very much! And now you have seven Gym Badges in your possession," Blaine said. "The next Gym is located in Viridian City."
"Leaf mentioned there's a Gym there," Sora pointed out.
Just gotta train for my next Gym match before we head there!" Sora said.
"And here's a bit of news I think you should know," Mr. Fuji said to him. "I had recently heard that the Viridian City Gym has a new Gym Leader. He just gotten the job just recently after the previous Gym Leader had just resigned."
"A new Gym Leader?" Sora questioned.
"That is quite a shock to us," Terra said.
"You wouldn't happen to know this new Gym Leader's name?" Ventus asked.
"I'm afraid not; but even if I did, I wouldn't tell you out of respect," Blaine explained.
"Well whoever it is, I hope he or she is game!" Sora said, smiling.
Meanwhile in Viridian City, the doors of the Gym opens to reveal a boy with brown eyes brown eyes, light skin, dark eyebrows, and spiky, blond hair. He wears baggy, camouflage-print capris pants, a short, sleeveless, grey vest, and a black muscle shirt decorated with a white, crudely-drawn skull and crossbones. His shoes are the same camouflage pattern as his pants, but also sport white tips, grey soles, and each has two intersecting, black belts in place of laces. He also wore a white necklace with a yellow "X" charm on it and a brown bracelet on his left wrist with several silver pins in it.
"Well you were the one who said it would be a piece of cake," a girl said. She has bright green eyes, soft peach-colored skin, and brown hair. Her hair sticks out on the sides and two strands of hair fall from either side of her head, just long enough to drape over her shoulders. Her clothing has a Summer feel to it, consisting of an orange tank-top with a white floral design at the bottom, khaki-colored capri pants, and orange socks with white hems. She also wears cream, black and yellow shoes with black laces. She also wore a beaded, sky blue bracelet on her right wrist and a black necklace decorated with a spherical, sky blue charm. "You never think before you act, Hayner."
"Give me a break, Ollete!" Hayner hissed. "I just thought being a Gym Leader gave me a chance to beat some Pokémon trainers coming by here."
"And we tried to tell you it didn't work that way," another boy spoke up. He appears to be a rather heavy-set boy with light skin, brown eyes, and black hair and eyebrows. He holds his hair up using a black headband with grey lining. He wears a long-sleeved, white shirt with dark cuffs underneath a red jersey with black and white lining. The jersey sports a black silhouette of a seemingly skeletal dog with three bones above it.
"Well you should have told me before I took this stupid job, Pence," Hayner said. "I mean that last Trainer who came here; that Gary kid was so full of himself. More so than a Snorlax."
Pence and Olette laughed as they comforted their friend.
"C'mon Hayner. Let's go get some ice cream. That should make you feel better," Pence said.
"But as soon as we get your Pokémon checked in," Olette said.
"Okay 'Mom', I'll do that," Hayner deadpanned.
Meanwhile back on Cinnabar Island, Sora had checked his Pokémon into the Pokémon Center to have them healed up.
"That battle was way harder than I thought," Sora said.
"But it was worth it, Sora," Kairi said.
"Yeah, especially after we trained hard for it," Sora said.
"The next Gym battle is Viridian City, Kairi's hometown, right?" Ventus pointed out.
"You're right, Ven. We should drop in on her house before we head for the Gym," Sora suggested.
"Now, that's just plain considerate of you, Sora," Kairi said, smiling.
"Well, I'm just certain you'd want to see your new baby brother's room once he's born," Sora said. Kairi blushed, knowing he's right about wanting to see her new brother's room.
A few minutes later, Jigglypuff appeared before them.
"Hey! A Jigglypuff!" Ventus beamed.
"What is it doing out here?" Terra asked.
Sora, Kairi, and the Alolan nine all knew that Jigglypuff well since she had that microphone in her hand. Jigglypuff started singing making everyone fall right to sleep. Jigglypuff stopped singing and saw her audience asleep.
"Jiggly!" Jigglypuff huffed up in anger and removed the top and scribbled on their faces. The balloon Pokémon scribbled in the order of Ventus, Sora, Angel, Kairi, Pikachu, and Togepi. "Puff!"
It didn't take long before everyone woke up and saw the scribbles on their faces. Ventus just laughed at the doodles.
"What's that Jigglypuff's problem?" Terra asked, not understanding why Jigglypuff just drew on their faces.
"Jigglypuff thinks she's a star, so she's been looking for someone to sing for. And when you fall asleep when she sings; Jigglypuff gets huffy," Sora explained as he also joked.
"So that Jigglypuff is looking for audience that won't fall asleep while singing. That is a problem," Aqua said.
And we will close it here for right now. Just how will Sora fare against the new Gym Leader of Viridian City? Sora has come so far, but will it all pay off in the end? We will have to find out together, won't we?
