Episode 63: Sora vs Hayner
Shortly after catching Zapdos, Sora and Kairi have tended to the healing of the Pokémon. Pikachu sat beside Angel, seeing Angel hurt by Zapdos fresh in his mind. Angel exactly what was troubling him.
"Pikachu, are you still thinking about what happened, Pikachu?" - Angel subtitle.
"Yeah, I am. I was extremely scared and worried when Zapdos zapped you and the others. I wanted to run up to you, but my legs weren't listening to me." - Pikachu subtitle.
"I wanted to do the same thing, Pikachu. Kairi would have done the same for Sora if he was at the mercy of those awful Heartless." - Angel subtitle.
"And I'd do the same for you if you ever went into that situation." - Pikachu subtitle. Pikachu embraces Angel in his arms. "And I promise I will always protect you." - Pikachu subtitle.
"And I will protect you." - Angel subtitle. They nuzzle each other affectionately.
A little while later, Ventus hands what he found to his cousin.
"Where did you find this?" Sora asked.
"I found this in the power plant after you caught Zapdos," Ventus said.
"Hm, I think I remember this an Electirizer. It can make Electabuzz evolve into an Electivire," Sora said. He turned to Electabuzz and Magmar. He took out the Magmarizer and held it with the Elctirizer. "You guys ready to evolve?" Electabuzz and Magmar looked at each other and nodded. Sora hands them the Electirizer and Magmarizer, making them both evolve. Magmar has become a Magmortar as Electabuzz has become a large, humanoid Pokémon covered in yellow fur with black stripes. It appears to lack a neck and has red eyes, a black spot on its forehead, and a pair of antennae with bulbous tips. A pattern on his back resembles an electric outlet. The fur on its cheeks and shoulders is spiky and ruffled. It has two black tails with red rounded ends, resembling open electrical wires. He has black feet with three, clawed toes, and five black fingers on each of its hands. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned them both.
Electivire, the Thunderbolt Pokémon
The evolved form of Electabuzz
Type: Electric
One Electivire can produce enough energy to power every building in a large city for an entire year.
Magmortar, the Blast Pokémon
The evolved form of Magmar
Type: Fire
It launches fireballs that can reach temperatures over 3,600 degrees from the ends of its arms and lives in volcanic craters.
"You guys look awesome," Sora said. The newly evolved Pokémon both smiled at the compliment.
They take their leave of the power plant and continue their journey to Viridian City.
Meanwhile over to a volcano, a band of Trainers have sent out several Water-type Pokémon to battle against a Pokémon that was rumored to live there. Flames blows all around.
"Gyarados! Use Hydro Pump!" One Trainer ordered.
"Kingdra! Use Hyper Beam!" Another Trainer ordered.
"Blastoise! Use Hydro Cannon!" Another Trainer ordered.
Moltres unleashed a stream flame came from the smoke, hitting the Water-type Pokémon. Moltres has taken them down with one hit. They called back their Pokémon, knowing they have lost. They were given no choice but to retreat. Moltres flew back into the magma to rest.
Back in Cerulean City, Sora and Kairi exchanged Rhydon, Golem, Magnezone, Steelix, Electivire, and Magmortar for Lapras, Weepinbell, Porygon2, Kingler, Poliwrath, Parasect, Psyduck, and Cloyster. Sora called out Porygon2 and he took out a Dubious Disc, and he uses it to get Porygon2 to evolve. Its head is fuchsia and ovoid in shape with a short, blunt antenna protruding upwards and a blue bill similar to that of a duck. Its eyes are yellow and have black rings, similar to a bulls-eye. The head is completely detached from the body and floats slightly above it. Its smooth, ovoid body is fuchsia with a blue ring connecting its arms. Two arms are loosely connected to their upper body and, other than their blue color, have no features. The tail is also blue and featureless but slightly resembles a paddle. Sora was amazed, so he took out his Pokédex and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.
Porygon-Z, the Virtual Pokémon
The evolved form of Porygon2
Type: Normal
Additional software was installed to make it an even better Pokémon. It began acting oddly, however.
"Oddly how?" Sora asked, putting his Pokédex away. "But you look like a good battler, Porygon-Z." Porygon-Z beamed at the compliment.
Soon afterwards, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi continued on their way to Viridian City. They made a stop to have rest and train. Sora has let out Weepinbell and used a Leaf Stone to evolve Weepinbell into a Victreebel.
A few days have passed, so they finally arrived in Viridian City.
"This is it. Viridian City," Kairi said.
"Yeah. Looks exactly the same," Sora said. "Your parents are gonna be surprised to see you again."
"We should surprise them," Kairi said.
"Yeah, let's go," Sora said.
"Hold on. Shouldn't you be working on a strategy for battling the Gym Leader, shouldn't you?" Aqua asked.
"I have one. Water and Grass since Kairi mentioned the Gym Leader uses Ground-type Pokémon," Sora said. "All my hard work and training paid off."
"It's true, Aqua. Sora did train hard for this," Terra said. "And he came all this way. This final Gym battle will determine if Sora has what it takes to enter the Pokémon League."
"Sora can win it," Ventus said.
"First stop, Kairi's house," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Are you excited, Togepi? Mom and dad are going to meet you," Kairi said.
They proceed to make their way to Kairi's house. They unaware that Team Rocket had finally found them floating in their hot-air balloon.
"There they are! The twerps are right where we want them!" Jessie said.
"And now it's our chance to finally catch Pikachu and deliver it to the boss!" James said.
Just as they were going to begin hatching a plan, they hear a buzzing sound.
"We're getting a call from HQ!" Meowth said as he accessed their computer. Meowth pushed a few buttons and the screen shows Archer on the screen with a stern expression on his face. "It's Archer!"
"Yes, Mr. Archer, sir!" Jessie, James, and Meowth greeted.
"Jessie, James, and Meowth. You three are being ordered to return to headquarters immediately," Archer said.
"Immediately?" James asked.
"Hold on! Just who do you think you are to say that we should come to right away?" Jessie asked.
"It came from the boss himself. He personally wants to speak with the three of you in person. So, in other words..." Archer paused. "GET YOUR WORTHLESS ASSES DOWN HERE NOW!"
Not needing to be told twice they had to comply with that order if it came from Giovanni himself.
"Right away," Jessie, James, and Meowth all said at once.
They turned the computer off and headed to Team Rocket headquarters to appear before Giovanni. They knew their boss could be wondering on why they hadn't brought in a single Pokémon to him, and about their moving in on Saffron City without his permission.
Meanwhile, they finally reached Kairi's house.
"And here it is," Kairi said.
"Wow, you lived in such a nice place," Aqua said.
"I lived here ever since I was born. I could tell you stories, but we should get inside," Kairi said.
"Yeah, we should get inside," Sora said.
Kairi walked up to the door and opened the door, but what she saw really surprised her, there were cardboard boxes all over the place.
"Mom, dad? Are you home?" Kairi asked. Down the stairs came Mirei with her pregnant belly. Her face lit up when she saw her daughter and her boyfriend.
"Kairi, welcome home!" Mirei greeted. "Yuta, Kairi's home!" Yuta came into the living room, carrying a cardboard box. His face lit up when he saw his daughter.
"Kairi, honey, welcome back," Yuta greeted. He went up to his daughter and hugged her. He looked at Angel. "And you too, Angel. It looks like Kairi has taken good care of you."
"Glad to be home, dad, but what's with all the boxes? What's going on?" Kairi asked.
"Well, you were gonna find out anyway, but we're moving a much bigger house," Yuta said.
"A bigger house?" Kairi asked.
"That's right, honey. And it's going to be in Pallet Town," Mirei said. Sora was wide-eyed when he heard his girlfriend's mom say they're moving in Pallet Town.
"Did I just hear that right? You're moving to Pallet Town? My hometown?" Sora asked.
"You heard right, bud," Yuta said. "In fact, we already have found a place, and I've been working on the baby's room in the new house ever since we found out we're having a son."
"Does that mean, Sora and Kairi will see each other anytime?" Ventus asked. Kairi's parents turned to Ventus.
"Seems like it," Sora said.
"And who is this?" Mirei asked, taking a liking to Ventus.
"Mom, dad, meet Ventus, but we call him Ven. He's Sora's younger cousin. And these are his two friends, Terra and Aqua. Ven, Terra, Aqua, meet my mom and dad," Kairi introduced.
"It's nice to meet you," Ventus said.
"It's very nice to meet you, Ven," Mirei said. "And I'll have to say, you're the cutest little boy I have ever seen." She pinches his cheeks. "Oh, I believe Kairi's new brother will be really cute as you once he's born."
"I hope your mom doesn't think go and think of herself as a second mom," Sora whispered to his girlfriend.
"Don't be ridiculous, Sora. She wouldn't do that," Kairi whispered back. "Mom, dad, I also want you to meet Togepi." She holds Togepi up proudly.
"Toge, Toge!" Togepi chirped.
"Nice to meet you, Togepi," Mirei said.
"Pi," Togepi chirped.
"Kairi, dear, do you have some other Pokémon other than this little cutie?" Mirei asked.
"I got a Raichu, a Vileplume, a Bellossom, a Diglett, a Ninetales, a Kingdra, a Flareon, a Vaporeon, a Jolteon, and a Sylveon," Kairi said.
"That sounds like it's more than six," Yuta said.
"Kairi and I can carry twelve Pokémon with us," Sora said.
"Twelve Pokémon instead of just six? I never thought I'd see such a thing," Yuta said. "Anyway, how has your journey been?"
"It's been great, dad. We've met different people and seen plenty of Pokémon," Kairi said.
"That's great, Kairi," Yuta said. He looked at Sora. "How would you like to have a Pokémon battle with me?"
"You sure about that?" Sora asked.
"I just want to test you out in a battle, and see how good you are," Yuta said.
"Okay, I'll take you on that offer," Sora said.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket HQ is located in a canyon. A building with the Team Rocket Logo is on the front. Jessie, James, and Meowth stood before Giovanni, Archer and three other people.
One of them is a young man who has teal hair and similarly colored eyes. His uniform consists of an open-collared black shirt with yellow stripes and the Rocket logo, black pants, a white belt, white gloves and boots with a single red stripe near the top, and a black flat cap akin to the ones Rocket Grunts wear.
The other is a beautiful young woman with fair skin, scarlet red hair that goes to her shoulders, and matching red eyes. Her uniform consists of a black shirt, with a white leather, long sleeve jacket over it. A small black patch on the left side of the jacket bearing team rocket's symbol, along with a long white skirt with a slit on the right side for style. On her waist, a black belt with a silver belt buckle. On her feet, a pair of white, knee high, high heeled leather boots. To accessorize, she use pink lipstick with matching pink nail polish, and is always seen wearing a pair of large golden, triangular shaped earrings.
The third person is a tall and thin young man. He has bright purple hair cut short at the sides with a large curl on top, a short purple beard, purple eyebrows and purple eyes. He wears a black jumpsuit with a yellow-gold lines and large R on the chest, elbow length silver-gray gloves and knee high silver-gray boots, all with a red stripe at the edge, and a silver belt around his waist.
"Care to explain yourselves to us?" Giovanni asked.
"Well, sir, we are currently in pursuit of a particular Pikachu," Jessie said.
"A particular Pikachu, you say?" Giovanni asked, not buying it.
"Yes," James said.
"And you've been following this Pikachu for how long?" Giovanni asked. Jessie, James, and Meowth gave a big gulp.
"For the last several months," Jessie, James, and Meowth answered in unison.
"It has been a whole lot more difficult than expected, sir," Meowth said.
"You mean to tell me that you have been wasting your time, chasing after one Pokémon when there are plenty of other Pokémon to steal," Giovanni said.
"Uh..." Jessie, James, and Meowth all said.
"Not only that, but you have come to Saffron City without authorization, and then come to Domino City, resulting in Cassidy and Butch's failure! How can you account for that?!" Giovanni exclaimed angrily. Jessie, James, and Meowth froze. "Also, you placed an unauthorized purchase on some clothes, and food? How can you explain this?"
"We were going to give those to you as a present, sir," Jessie said, feeling nervous.
"You three have been wasting our resources in a pursuit of a single Pokémon! For your constant failure, you three are in debt beginning today!" Giovanni said.
"Debt?" Jessie asked.
"You will be expected to pay your debt monthly, or else," Giovanni said. Jessie, James, and Meowth shivered again. "Do you wish to find out or else what?"
"We'll just use our imaginations," James said.
"Good. Now, get out," Giovanni said. Jessie, James, and Meowth stepped out, leaving him and the executives alone.
"Why not just fire them?" The second man asked.
"I agree with Proton. They're a real problem, just like those kids who foiled our plans in the past," the woman said.
"Don't even mention them, Ariana. It's already embarrassing enough," the third man said.
"Petrel's right. With our recent setbacks, it's going to be hard to recruit criminals to join," Proton said.
"Not only that, there's word that the cops are getting wise to one or two of their own are secret members of Team Rocket. Our operations will be shut down before we could get started," Petrel said.
"The blow to our reputation holds no conern for me," Giovanni finally spoke. The Team Rocket Executives looked at their leader. "We proceed as usual. To answer your question, Proton, those three will serve as an example to the grunts. We will use their failures and incompetence as examples in order to motivate them. As for their debt, they'll be slaves to Team Rocket for the rest of their lives, or they will die trying to please me."
The Team Rocket executives all agreed with their leader, knowing how expendable Jessie, James, and Meowth were.
Speaking of which, they enter the messhall to have some lunch.
"I can't believe we're officially in debt. They're making us pay them," Jessie said.
"Well, we did take a long time to make contact with the boss, and we did move in without permission from the higher-ups, but it's better than being fired," James said.
"So, what did ya think was gonna happen?" Meowth asked with a hint of sarcasm.
"It's all those twerps' fault! If they haven't butted in, we would have had Pikachu delivered to him by now," Jessie said.
"Like that twerp would comply with us," Meowth said. They all sat down.
"Meowth is right. They'll just have the drop on us, after the training they were doing," James said. They looked at him. "I saw them train once. They're getting better and better."
"Which means, it's twice as hard," Meowth said. They all sighed. A few grunts come pass them and noticed.
"Well, look who it is. It's the Three Stooges!" One of the male Team Rocket grunts taunted.
"The nerve of those nobodies," Jessie growled.
"Ignore them, and they'll walk away," James said.
"Hey, what did you catch this time? A cold?" Another male grunt taunted, laughing.
"None of your damn business!" Jessie snapped at them.
"I don't know why the boss keeps you around. He would have been better off giving your asses the boot," the first male Team Rocket grunt said.
"You three are the baddest of jokes in Team Rocket's history," the third male Team Rocket grunt said.
"Then how come you're the lowest of the low in the ranks?" Jessie asked.
"We may be low, but we actually caught some Pokémon," the second male Team Rocket grunt taunted.
"Let's get going before their stink rubs off on us," the first male Team Rocket grunt said. He and the other two walked off. Jessie took her tray and threw it at him. This grabbed the attention of the other grunts. He turned around, infuriated. "WHO THE HELL THREW THAT?!"
"I did! Got a problem?" Jessie asked. He marched at her. James got between them.
"Easy here. We're all adults here, so how about we don't go and act like it," James said.
"We'll let you losers slide for right now," the male Team Rocket grunt said. "Next time you won't be so lucky." He turned again, and another tray hits him. He turned again to see Meowth holding a tray in his paws.
"Oops," Meowth said.
"THAT FREAKING DOES IT!" The first male Team Rocket grunt growled. He punches James in the face. Meowth threw the other tray, making the first male Team Rocket grunt duck, hitting the third. Jessie gave him a kick in the testies, while the other two pins her down. Meowth came at the second grunt and slashes his face, letting go of her. The rest of the grunts go on cheering as the brawl goes on. The first male Team Rocket grunt recovers and rejoins the fight. He grabbed Jessie by the hair.
"My hair! My hair!" Jessie yelled.
"How do you like that, bitch?!" The first male Team Rocket grunt taunted.
"Let go of my hair before I kill you!" Jessie roared.
"Make me, shutter girl!" The first male Team Rocket grunt said.
The brawl escalates until a high-ranking Team Rocket member stepped in.
"WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?!" The high-ranking member yelled. The brawl ceases when they saw him.
"They started it!" Jessie, James, Meowth, and the grunts said in unison.
"Outside, all of you!" The high-ranking Team Rocket member said.
Back in Viridian City, Sora and Yuta got in their backyard to have a battle.
"How about we have a one-on-one battle?" Yuta asked.
"I'm game, Yuta," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said. Yuta took out a Great Ball and threw it.
"Go! Tangrowth!" Yuta called out. His Great Ball opened and unleashes a large Pokémon with a black body wrapped in a large mass of blue vines. The vines are used to entangle foes and prey. A pair of saucer-like eyes peek out from beneath the tangled mess of vines. However, these eyes may be hidden in warm seasons due to how profusely the vines grow. Its stubby black feet are tipped with red. It has a pair of blue boneless arms that have three fingers. The arms are made from bundles of vines. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Tangrowth, the Vine Pokémon
The evolved form of Tangela
Type: Grass
Draped with long vines, it resembles a shrub in appearance. It swings bundles of vines as though they were arms, wrapping them around prey to ensnare them.
"Stronger than Tangela, that's for sure," Sora said. Sora was about to choose Charizard when Pikachu spoke up.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu called out.
"Pikachu, you wanna battle that Tangrowth?" Sora asked.
"Chu," Pikachu nodded.
"Your electricity won't do much damage on Tangrowth," Sora pointed out. He could easily see how determined Pikachu is. "Okay, I'll send you right in." Pikachu stepped into battle. This surprises Yuta.
"You're sending in your Pikachu against my Tangrowth? You should have heeded your own advice, kid," Yuta said.
"Pikachu is willing to battle any opponent, so I believe in Pikachu," Sora said. Yuta smiled.
"That's the spirit. I want to see that spirit in action!" Yuta said
"How about you make the first move since we're playing by your rules," Sora said.
"How considerate," Yuta said. "Tangrowth! Use Power Whip!" Both of Tangrowth's arms glow purple and it comes towards Pikachu to land a hit.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran out of the way before Tangrowth could land a hit. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu's tail gave off a metallic glow to land a hit.
"Double Hit!" Yuta ordered. Tangrowth quickly turned and lands a couple of hits onto Pikachu. The Mouse Pokémon lands on his back, but he gets back up. "Use Energy Ball!" Tangrowth forms light green energy and fired it at Pikachu.
"Use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and hurls it at Tangrowth's attack, resulting in an explosion. Pikachu and Tangrowth have taken damage.
"Real impressive, kid. Blocking Energy Ball with Electro Ball was brilliant," Yuta said. "You're quite skillful."
"Thanks," Sora said. "Wanna continue?"
"I was gonna ask you the same thing. Tangrowth! Use Ancient Power!" Yuta ordered. Tangrowth forms silver crystallized rocks and sends them right at Pikachu.
"Pikachu! Use Quick Attack to dodge!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran to dodge Tangrowth's attack, but he was hit hard.
"Use Power Whip!" Yuta ordered. Tangrowth gave Pikachu a smack with Power Whip, resulting in Tangrowth becoming paralyzed. "Tangrowth!"
"Tangrowth's paralyzed," Terra said.
"How did that happen?" Ventus asked.
"It's Pikachu's ability, Static," Terra said.
"Static activates when opponents lands a physical attack on Pokémon that has that ability," Aqua said.
"Tangrowth! Use Double Hit!" Yuta ordered.
"Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt, hitting Tangrowth. It was still coming at the Mouse Pokémon and lands two hits on him. Pikachu is sent down and he has been knocked out. "Pikachu!" He ran up to Pikachu. "You okay, buddy?"
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Good work as always, Tangrowth," Yuta said. Tangrowth beamed. He called Tangrowth back and walked up to Sora. "You're very skilled, Sora. Believing in your Pokémon is a sign of how a responsible Trainer you are." Sora smiled, not caring that he lost.
"Thanks," Sora said. He shook his girlfriend's hand. Kairi smiled at the sight of her father and boyfriend getting along with each other.
"Say, I would like to watch your Gym battle, Sora," Yuta said.
"You sure?" Sora asked.
"I am," Yuta said.
Over to the Viridian City Gym, Hayner was getting ready for any challenger coming his way.
"I'm getting psyched for my next challenger," Hayner said.
"Just don't get overconfident, Hayner," Pence said.
"Pence is right. You're a Gym Leader, not a member of the Elite Four," Olette pointed out.
"I'm not getting overconfident, I'm just getting ready to win my next battle," Hayner said.
Olette rolled her eyes.
Outside the Gym, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Kairi's parents have arrived to the Viridian City Gym after they had Pikachu healed in the Pokémon Center. Nurse Joy was happy to see the couple again after they got started on their journey together.
"Here it is, the Viridian City Gym," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"This is it, Sora. This is your last challenge," Yuta said.
"Yeah, I came this far," Sora said. "Okay, this is it." He turned to Pikachu. "Since the Gym Leader uses Ground-type Pokémon, you're gonna have to sit this one out."
"Pika," Pikachu nodded.
They entered the Gym and they saw Hayner standing in the front.
"Lookie here, my next challenge," Hayner said.
"Next challenge?" Sora asked. "Wait, are you the Gym Leader?"
"Yeah. The name's Hayner. The new Gym Leader of the Viridian City Gym," Hayner proudly said.
"Aren't you kinda young to be a Gym Leader?" Yuta asked.
"I was asked to be one by the Kanto Pokémon League association, and I jumped right in," Hayner said.
"Believe it or not, he's telling the truth," Olette said. "My name is Olette."
"And I'm Pence, nice to meet you," Pence said.
"I'm Sora, and I came from Pallet Town," Sora said. "This is Kairi, Ven, Terra, Aqua, and Kairi's mom and dad."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"I'm here to challenge you to a Gym battle," Sora said.
"How many Gym Badges have you earned so far?" Olette asked.
"Seven," Sora answered.
"Wow, you have to be good to earn seven Gym Badges," Pence said.
"That's what I thought," Ventus said.
"We can get ready to have our battle anytime you're ready," Hayner said.
"I'm ready," Sora said.
Both Sora and Hayner got into position for their battle. Pence has taken his position as the referee.
"The battle between Hayner the Gym Leader and Sora from Pallet Town is about to begin! But before we begin! Both Trainers will be using six Pokémon for this battle! Only the challenger will be allowed to substitute Pokémon! The battle is over if all of either Trainer's Pokémon is unable to battle! Let the battle begin!" Pence announced. Hayner chose his first Pokéball.
"Marowak, you're up first!" Hayner called out. It let out a Marowak and it twirls its bone upon entry. Sora took out a Pokéball of his own.
"Go! Victreebel!" Sora called out. Victreebel came right out to battle. "Victreebel! Start things up with Vine Whip!" Victreebel swung his vine and sends it at Marowak.
"Dodge it!" Hayner called out. Marowak dodges Victreebel's Vine Whip. "Now, use Aerial Ace!" Marowak did a flip and landed a hit on Victreebel pretty hard.
"Super-effective!" Yuta exclaimed.
"Hayner taught Marowak Aerial Ace to use against Grass-type Pokémon," Olette said.
"Clever," Mirei said.
"Victreebel! Use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Victreebel extends his leaves as they glowed light green and charged at the Bone Keeper Pokémon.
"Aerial Ace!" Hayner ordered as Marowak used Aerial Ace and collided with Victreebel's Leaf Blade. Both were sent back still standing their ground. "Now use Iron Head!" Hayner ordered as Marowak charged at Victreebel again.
"Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Victreebel unleashed Razor Leaf and sends it at Marowak.
"Dodge it!" Hayner called out. Marowak manages to dodge, but Victreebel succeeded in landing a hit onto the Bone Keeper Pokémon.
"Use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered. Victreebel came at Marowak, landing a hit, resulting in a knockout.
"Marowak is unable to battle! Victreebel wins!" Pence announced.
"Okay, you knocked out my first Pokémon! But here's my next one! Rhydon! Go!" Hayner took out his Ultra Ball and threw it as it let out a Rhydon. Stars swirls around it as it is a brownish color and slightly larger than Sora's Rhydon. Sora pulls out his Pokéball and calls Victreebel back.
"You did great, Victreebel. You should take a break for a while," Sora said as he pulls out his Pokéball and threw it. "Poliwrath! Go!" Sora threw it as Poliwrath punched the air upon entry.
"Rhydon, Drill Run!" Hayner ordered as Rhydon rotates its body and chrages right towards Poliwrath.
"Dodge and use Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered. Poliwrath dodged and lands a punch. Poliwrath builds up his attack power.
"Rhydon! Ice Punch!" Hayner ordered as Rhydon's fist emitted ice and threw a punch at Poliwrath. Poliwrath falls on the ground and gets back up on his feet.
"Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered as fired Hydro Pump at Rhydon with a powerful stream of water.
"Rhydon! Use Earthquake!" Hayner ordered as Rhydon stomped on the ground making the whole place shake.
"Jump and use Brick Break!" Sora called out as Poliwrath jumps in the and brings his arm down. "Now use Hydro Pump!" Poliwrath fired Hydro Pump at the Shiny Pokémon. Rhydon falls to the ground exhausted.
"Rhydon is unable to battle! Poliwrath wins!" Pence announced.
"Well, that was pretty good, but get a load of this!" Hayner said taking out a regular Pokéball and threw it. "Go, Sandslash!" The Pokéball lets out a Sandslash.
"Poliwrath! Use Water Pulse!" Sora ordered. Poliwrath forms a ball of water, and sends it right at Sandslash.
"Sandslash! Charge right in with X-Scissor!" Hayner ordered as Sandslash's claws glows light blue and moves its claws right in front forming a blue X hitting Poliwrath, cutting through Water Pulse and Poliwrath, landing a critical hit. Poliwrath falls to the ground knocked out.
"Poliwrath is unable to battle! Sandslash wins!" Pence announced. Sora calls Poliwrath back.
"Get some rest, Poliwrath. You've earned it," Sora said. He took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Venusaur! Go!" Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Venusaur!" Venusaur roared upon entry.
"So another Grass-type Pokémon against my Sandslash, huh?" Hayner scoffed. "My Sandslash will take your Venusaur down several levels. Sandslash! Metal Claw!" Sandslash's claws metallized and charged right at Vensaur.
"Vine Whip!" Sora called out as Venusaur used Vine Whip to hit Sandslash.
"Dig!" Hayner called out. The spikey Mouse Pokémon tunnels underground making Vine Whip miss its target.
"Stand your ground!" Sora said as Venusaur stood there waiting for Sandslash to make a surprise attack. He knew Sandslash will come out at any moment.
Sandslash jumps out and delivers a series of slashes to Venusaur.
"Now use Earth Power!" Hayner ordered. Sandslash glows golden yellow and stomps its foot on the ground. The attack heads towards Venusaur and hits him from underneath.
"Razor Leaf!" Sora called out as Venusaur fired Razor Leaf right at Sandslash.
"Dodge with Dig!" Hayner called out as Sandslash dug underground again. It didn't take long before Sandslash jumped back out right beside Venusaur. Sora was shocked as Hayner grinned. "X-Scissor!" Sandslash's claws glowed light blue and sent the attack after bringing its claws close to its body again. Sandslash's X-Scissor hits Venusaur right on the head and he falls to the ground, beaten.
"Venusaur is unable to battle! Sandslash wins!" Pence announced.
"Now, both are down to four each," Ventus said.
"Judging by how this is going, this can go either way," Yuta said.
"You're a pretty good Gym Leader, Hayner. You're really giving me a run for my money," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora. I'm just ready for anything you can throw at me," Hayner said.
"I know you are," Sora said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go, Blastoise!" Sora threw his Pokéball letting out Blastoise.
"Think you can psyhce me out with another Water-type? Not gonna happen. Sandslash! Metal Claw!" Hayner called out as Sandslash charged towards Blastoise with its claws metallized.
"Use Flash Cannon!" Sora ordered as Sandslash got hit by the beam of energy from his cannons. Kairi's parents were amazed by the amount of power Blastoise has unleashed.
"No way!" Hayner gasped.
"Way! Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered as he fired Hydro Pump hitting Sandslash. Sandslash falls to the ground knocked out.
"Sandslash is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" Pence announced. Hayner calls his Sandslash back.
"So it's three you've beaten. Big whoop," Hayner said taking out another Pokéball. "But here's what'll give you a real whooping. It's your turn, Nidoqueen!" Hayner shouted letting out his Nidoqueen.
"Okay Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered as Blastoise fired Hydro Pump right at Nidoqueen.
"Nidoqueen, dodge it!" Hayner called as Nidoqueen used her tail to jump in the air avoiding the water attack. "Now use Ice Punch!" Nidoqueen's fist emitted ice and threw it right at Blastoise. The punch landed and Blastoise takes a few steps back.
"Blastoise! Aqua Jet!" Sora ordered. Blastoise fired himself towards Nidoqueen, but uses her tail to dodge out of the way before Blastoise could make a hit.
"Move in with Body Slam!" Hayner ordered as Nidoqueen jumps to slam right into Blastoise.
"Flash Cannon!" Sora called out as Blastoise fired Flash Cannon sending Nidoqueen back. "Now finish up with Water Pulse!" Blastoise hurled a ball of water right at Nidoqueen causing heavy damage. Nidoqueen falls to the ground, beaten.
"Nidoqueen is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" Pence announced.
"Looks like Sora's making a serious comeback," Mirei said.
"He sure is. All that training did pay off," Aqua said.
"Come back, Nidoqueen," Hayner called Nidoqueen back. "You took down four of my Pokémon and I just took down two of yours. But it's not over yet!" Hayner took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Nidoking! Go!" The Pokéball opens and lets out his Nidoking letting out a roar upon entry.
"Blastoise, return!" Sora said calling Blastoise back and pulls out another Pokéball. "Victreebel! Back to action!" Sora threw his Pokéball and it lets out Victreebel. "Vine Whip!" Sora ordered as Victreebel smacked Nidoking with his vine.
"Okay, that wasn't bad, Sora," Hayner admitted. "But it'll take more than that to take down my Nidoking! Nidoking! Thunder Punch!" Nidoking's fist emitted electricity charging towards Victreebel.
"Dodge and use Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered as Victreebel charged in with Leaf Blade. The two attacks collided with each other. Both are taken back by the force of their moves. "Razor Leaf!" Victreebel unleashed Razor Leaf at his opponent.
"Get out of there and move in with Fire Punch!" Hayner ordered as Nidoking gets out of the Razor Leaf barrage and charged with his fists literally burning. Nidoking moves in and delivers a couple of fiery punches on Victreebel.
"Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered as Victreebel flapped his wings and sends a barrage of leaves right at Nidoking.
"Dodge and use Megahorn!" Hayner ordered. Nidoking's horn starts glowing white and heads towards Victreebel.
"Leaf Blade!" Sora ordered making Victreebel charge towards Nidoking. They both hit each other causing heavy damage. "Leaf Blade again!"
"Use Fire Punch!" Hayner called out. Nidoking charged in with a burning fist with Victreebel charging in with Leaf Blade. They both give each other a good clean hit, but Nidoking falls to the ground knocked out.
"Nidoking is unable to battle! Victreebel wins!" Pence announced.
Hayner calls back his Nidoking as Victreebel is still on the battlefield panting. Hayner knew Victreebel must have used so much of his strength during the battle.
"You're really not half bad. The way you handled your Pokémon is pretty good," Hayner complimented.
"Thanks, Hayner. Just give me what you've got!" Sora said.
"And I plan to do that with my last Pokémon," Hayner said pulling out another Ultra Ball and threw it. "Rhyperior! Go!" Hayner's Ultra Ball lets out a Rhyperior.
"Hayner must have been saving that one for last," Sora said in his thoughts. "There isn't a doubt in my mind that Rhyperior is going to be more tougher than the last five Pokémon." Sora smiled and spoke out loud, "Victreebel! Leaf Blade!" Victreebel charged towards Victreebel with his leaves out to slice Rhypherior.
"Thought you'd try that! Rhyperior! Ice Beam!" Hayner ordered as Rhypherior fired Ice Beam right at Victreebel freezing him in place.
Everyone except Olette gasped in shock as Rhyperior just stopped Sora's Pokémon cold; no pun intended.
"No way!" Sora exclaimed.
"Now use Flamethrower!" Hayner ordered as Rhyperior fired Flamethrower right at Victreebel not only melting the ice, but knocking him out.
"Victreebel is unable to battle! Rhyperior wins!" Pence announced. Sora calls back Victreebel and pulls out another Pokéball.
"Okay, Blastoise! Back to action!" Sora said throwing the Pokéball letting out Blastoise.
"Blastoise!" Blastoise said.
"Flash Cannon!" Sora ordered as Blastoise fired Flash Cannon right towards the large Pokémon.
"Block that with Flamethrower!" Hayner called out as Rhyperior fired Flamethrower blocking Blastoise's attack. It resulted in an explosion. "Now use Thunderbolt!" Rhyperior fires Thunderbolt right at Blastoise. The large turtle Pokémon gets knocked out of the battle.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Rhyperior wins!" Pence announced.
"Sora has only two Pokémon left!" Kairi said.
"Toge, Toge!" Togepi chirped.
"Hopefully, his next Pokémon could help tire that Rhyperior out," Ventus said.
"Yeah, hopefully," Aqua said.
Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"You're going in, Lapras!" Sora called out. Lapras emerged from inside. "Okay, Lapras! Begin with Hydro Pump!" Lapras fired Hydro Pump right at Rhyperior.
"Use Ice Beam, Rhyperior!" Hayner ordered. Rhyperior fired Ice Beam, blocking Hydro Pump, freezing the water attack. "Use Thunderbolt!" Rhyperior unleashed Thunderbolt right at Lapras, shocking her. "Use Thunderbolt again!" Rhyperior unleashed another Thunderbolt, shocking Lapras.
"Use Surf!" Sora ordered. Lapras summons water all around, and creates a huge tidal wave. The tidal wave came down at Rhyperior, dealing super-effective damage. Sora was hoping it was enough to bring down Rhyperior, but it was still standing on its feet. "You've gotta be kidding me!"
"It'll take more than a Surf to take down my Rhyperior. My Rhyperior can withstand any water attack you got," Hayner said. "Okay, Rhyperior! "Fire Thunderbolt!" Rhyperior fired Thunderbolt right at Lapras. The attack causes heavy damage and Lapras gets knocked out.
"Lapras is unable to battle! Rhyperior wins!" Pence announced.
Sora was now down to one more Pokémon to use. He thought of using either Cloyster Parasect, or Kingler, but Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam were a huge problem. Sora decided to go with Cloyster.
"Okay, this is my last shot Go! Clo-" Sora was cut off when Psyduck emerged from his Pokéball. Sora was shocked to see Psyduck come out. "Psyduck?!"
"Psyduck," Psyduck said.
"Well, I might as well use you to battle since you're already out," Sora said. "I have faith in you, Psyduck."
"Duck," Psyduck said.
"Psyduck! Use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Psyduck fired Water Gun at Rhyperior.
"Dodge and use Thunderbolt!" Hayner ordered. Rhyperior dodged and fired Thunderbolt at Psyduck, hitting him. Psyduck fell backwards, but he gets back up. Hayner was surprised to see how it was like Psyduck wasn't even hurt. "Huh? What's the deal with this Psyduck?"
"You okay, Payduck?" Sora asked.
"Psyduck," Psyduck replied.
"Okay, Psyduck! Water Gun again!" Sora ordered. Psyduck fired Water Gun, hitting Rhyperior on the spot. Rhyperior took Psyduck by the head. Rhyperior started to squeeze Psyduck's head.
"Psy, y, y, y, y, y, y, y, y!" Psyduck cried, while struggling.
"Psyduck!" Sora called out. Kairi looked at Psyduck and knew what was going on.
"That Rhyperior is putting the squeeze on Psyduck," Yuta said.
"I think Psyduck's getting a really bad headache," Kairi said. Her parents, Olette, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua looked at her.
"Headache? What do you mean?" Mirei asked.
"I've seen this before. When a Pokémon attacked Psyduck by the head, Psyduck's headache gets worse and worse. And then something unexpected happens," Kairi said.
"Something unexpected? What has Hayner gotten himself into?" Olette asked.
Rhyperior kept squeezing Psyduck's head. Psyduck's eyes began to glow blue. A blue aura surrounds Rhyperior's body. Rhyperior lets Psyduck go.
"What are you doing, Rhyperior?!" Hayner exclaimed. Psyduck uses his psychic powers to lift Rhyperior in the air. Rhyperior went higher and higher. "Rhyperior!"
"That's Confusion! Okay, Psyduck, send Rhyperior back down!" Sora called out. Psyduck slammed Rhyperior back down on the ground, hard. Rhyperior has taken a lot of damage from Psyduck's Confusion. Rhyperior tried to get back up on its feet, but fell backwards, beaten.
"Rhyperior is unable to battle! Psyduck wins! The winner is Sora from Pallet Town!" Pence announced.
Ventus cheered as he and the rest came down and congratulated him on his victory. Hayner would have been angered by his loss, but he just smiled. He calls Rhyperior back as he walked up with Pence and Olette joining in beside him.
"That was a pretty sweet battle, Sora. You're very good," Hayner complimented. "I guess the only thing I could do is give you that Badge I owe ya." Olette took a green badge shaped like a leaf. She handed it to Hayner. "So here it is. The Earth Badge." Hayner handed it Sora as he smiles.
"And the Earth Badge makes eight," Sora beamed.
"Still, I can't believe I lost," Hayner groaned.
"You gave it your all, Hayner," Sora said. Hayner looked at him. "The way you battled is a sign of how a good Gym Leader you are. And all of your Pokémon were all awesome, especially how you raised them all." Hayner smiled at thr compliment.
"Thanks, Sora. I have to admit, your Pokémon were pretty awesome, too. Even that Psyduck of yours," Hayner said. He looked at Psyduck. "I never seen. Psyduck take such abuse before and come right back."
"Believe it or not, that actually happened before," Sora said. "It was against Koga and his Weezing. Koga gave a run for my money, the same as you."
"No kidding?" Hayner asked. He looked right at Psyduck. "Just how powerful is Psyduck?"
"Now that the Gym battle is over and done with, how about we go and have them healed at the Pokémon Center?" Yuta suggested.
"Yeah, you're right," Sora said, calling Psyduck back and heads for the Pokémon Center. Sora then presented his eight Gym Badges and he has been qualified to participate. Sora and Hayner had their Pokémon healed in the Pokémon Center, so Sora shared some stories about his and Kairi's journeys. Hayner, Pence, and Olette were amazed to hear their tale going on. Hayner enjoyed the company of Sora and Kairi, knowing they would hang out with each other in the near future.
Once the Pokémon were completely healed, they headed back to Kairi's house, finishing packing. Hayner, Pence, and Olette offered to help, so they accepted. Once everything was ready to go, Hayner, Pence, and Olette were seeing them off.
"Now that you have eight Gym Badges, that means you can register for the Pokémon League," Pence said.
"Yeah, it sure does," Sora said.
"Just so you know, the Indigo Plateau tournament doesn't begin until just two months," Olette said.
"I guess I'll have to train hard then," Sora said.
"And I can help you out with that if you want, Sora," Yuta said.
"I'd like that," Sora said.
"Good luck in your battles, Sora," Pence said.
"After the way he battled, he isn't going to need it," Hayner said.
"No he won't," Ventus agreed.
"If you're ever in Pallet Town, just hook me up," Sora said.
"That's a deal," Hayner said, giving Sora high-five.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Kairi's parents gets in the moving truck and drives off to Pallet Town.
Once they arrived, Kairi was awestruck by how beautiful the town looked. They arrived to Sora's neighborhood. They arrived next to Sora's house. Sora knew whose house it was.
"That's the Gustafson's house," Sora said.
"Who's are the Gustafsons?" Kairi asked.
"You know them, Sora?" Yuta asked.
"Yeah. They lived there even before my parents got married. They were even there when I got started on my journey," Sora said.
"I see. They were selling the house, and we were looking to buy for the baby," Mirei said. "So, Yuta's been coming here to work on the baby's room."
"I can't wait to see it," Kairi said.
"And I wonder if auntie D is home," Ventus said.
"If she's not here, then she might be shopping with Karen. This will be a good chance to surprise them," Sora said. "Come on, Pikachu."
"Pika," Pikachu said.
Sora got out of the truck and enters his house. He finds Daisy sitting in the chair. She turned to see Sora and smiled warmly.
"Welcome home, Sora," Daisy greeted.
"Daisy!" Sora said. Daisy stood up and gave him a warm hug.
"It feels like it's been years since I've seen you," Daisy said.
"I feel the same way. Are my mom and sister home?" Sora asked.
"No, they went out shopping, and they should be back soon," Daisy said. Ventus stepped inside and she saw Ventus. "Hi, Ven. You gotten pretty big since I last saw you." She giggled, rubbing his head. Ventus giggled as well.
Kairi and her parents entered their new house and Kairi saw her new baby brother's room. She smiled when she saw how her father has done a good job with it.
"My little brother is going to love it," Kairi said.
"He should. I worked on it for months. Your mother and grandma loved it, too," Yuta said.
Now that Sora has eight Gym Badges, he now qualifies to participate for the Pokémon League in the Indigo Plateau. Will Sora's hard training pay off? Find out as we go forward.
