Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter One-hundred and forty-six: Scornful moves, part one
In a desert area somewhere, Colress, a scientist who formerly worked for the now defunct Team Plasma before betraying them to and then sub-sequentially joining Team Scorn, stood with Admin's Assistant Haruka. The three of them had with them three Pokémon who were seemingly being held prisoner; a Maractus on the far right, a Scolipede in the middle, and a Summer form Deerling on the far left. "Swordsman told me that the experimenting you're up to," Haruka began, "Which you started in Team Plasma and were allowed to continue after joining Team Scorn, is meant to draw out the true power of Pokémon."
Colress nodded in confirmation as he proceeded to take aim at Scolipede with a device of some kind. "That's right, miss Haruka."
Arching a wry eyebrow at the scientist, Haruka went on, "Then I hope you remember that Swordsman said that the big boss won't stand for any experimentation that would cause harm and distress to Pokémon."
"I wouldn't even dream of it," Colress replied before firing his device at Scolipede. This made Scolipede's eyes turn red and seemingly go insane before it fired a SolarBeam attack at a shield after Colress upped the output level of the device. "...Hmm, it's lower than what I had hoped." Colress then lowered the device's output level and restored Scolipede to normal.
Haruka, on the other hand, looked a bit stunned by the power she witnessed from Scolipede just now. "...You were hoping for more than that."
Colress nodded once in the affirmative. "Indeed. However, this experiment proves that the EM waves can now focus on just a single targeted Pokémon, rather than affect all Pokémon who are nearby."
Looking at the Scolipede who was just affected by Colress's device, Haruka saw that it was a bit shaky with exhaustion, but otherwise was no worse for wear. "...I don't think Scolipede's exhausted state is enough to qualify as harm and or distress. It looks more like it's simply tired from doing a fair bit of exercise." Turning to look right at Colress, Haruka said, "Alright, I think that Swordsman will agree that the big boss will be okay with you continuing this experimentation. But we will still need to do at least one more test run before we move on to the next phase for Team Scorn."
Giving a final nod, Colress replied, "Very well."
Meanwhile, the heroes and N make it to a city near Driftveil City. "There's a place that I wanna check out near Driftveil," N said to the heroes, "I'll have to part way with you guys soon."
"Will we see you again, N?" Bianca asked.
Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn remarked, "I get the feeling that we will run into our good friend N here sometime in the future, Bianca. The world is not so large of a place as you give it credit for."
N nodded in agreement. "But I am not leaving just yet. There's still one or two other thi-"
"Hey, the bridge is out," Trip remarked, drawing the attention of the heroes and N to the fact that a bridge is blocked off. Given that it was a main bridge into the main part of the city, they kind of needed to get around the block.
Going up to the Officer Jenny who was manning the blockade, Dawn asked, "Excuse me, but can you explain to my group and I what's going on here?"
Gesturing to the other side of the bridge, Jenny explained, "A Haxorus is currently rampaging in the city over there, so we've blocked off all bridges leading into where the Haxorus is rampaging."
"A Haxorus is rampaging?" Iris asked, immediately alarmed over a dragon Pokémon potentially being in pain, "Do you know why it's rampaging?"
"Nope, and no one's going to get close to it," Jenny replied.
"So how will it be calmed back down?" N asked, "Someone, or a group of someones, ought to go in to try to get the Haxorus to calm down."
Folding her arms over her chest, Jenny said, "Nope, no one's getting in."
"Or out?" Ash asked, "What if there's still people within the area that Haxorus is rampaging in?"
Gesturing to Dawn, Kenny said, "Also, my friend there is Dawn Berlitz, the current Champion of Sinnoh. If anyone can bring that rampaging Haxorus to kneel, then it would have to be her."
Jenny, with a look of consideration on her face, remarked, "...I still can't take down a barricade to let anyone in. It could let the rampaging Haxorus out. Don't get me wrong, having a trainer as strong as the Champion of Sinnoh helping out here is a boon, but we can't risk letting the rampaging Haxorus potentially escape what all we are doing to keep it confined. So unless you guys can swim or fly across, then-"
"Kenny, Trip," Dawn said, "Call out Black and Deelia." As she herself called out Tsukune, Dawn said, "We'll just fly over the barricade and land on the other side." The other two reborn trainers both nodded in agreement, then within short order, everyone in the heroes' group got onto the backs of Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina before they all took off up into the air, flew over the barricade, and landed on the other side. Now within rampaging Haxorus territory, the heroes moved in after the trio of legendary dragon Pokémon were recalled.
Having seen the heroes fly over on the backs of legendary Pokémon, Jenny said, "...Huh."
...
Within the sequestered off portion of the city, the heroes were looking around, ready to fight off the rampaging Haxorus at a moment's notice. As the heroes were all looking around, they stopped short when they heard a male voice that was familiar to a lot of them. "Well now!" Looker said as he called out to the heroes, "Aren't you all a sight for sore eyes!"
"Looker!" the reborn trainers and Ash all said in unison, right before going over to speak with the good detective.
Looker gave N a look of contemplation before turning to look at the heroes. "What are all of you doing here?" Looker asked, "Looking into the Haxorus rampage, I take it?"
"We're looking to stop the Haxorus from rampaging," Ash replied, "Even if we have to-"
*KABOOM*
The heroes and Looker all heard an explosion in the distance, so they all ran off to see if it was the rampaging Haxorus. As the heroes and Looker rushed to the location of the explosion, at said location, Colress, Haruka, and two Team Scorn grunts were watching things from on top of a building as a Haxorus down on the ground, its eyes glowing fully red, was rampaging. "Wow," Haruka said, "Look at what all can be done to a city using just one Haxorus."
Colress smirked in amusement. "I believe that Admin Swordsman would believe that letting me make my invention strong enough to control Pokémon that are even more powerful than a Haxorus would be a good idea, don't you think Miss Haruka?"
Haruka, the girl formerly trapped in a gilded cage of a life, narrowed her gaze ever so slightly at Colress. "...The last time a villainous team tried using tech or some manner of relic to control particularly powerful Pokémon, it was the now defunct Team Rocket, and that incident let to all of Team Rocket's top brass being rounded up and the organization as a whole being fully dissolved. As a rule of thumb, don't try using that tech of yours on any Pokémon thought to exist only in lore."
Colress originally would have objected, as he wanted to make his invention powerful enough to control even legendary and mythical Pokémon. But Haruka raised a very valid point; Colress is well aware of what happened to Team Rocket, how they reached too high and as a result Team Rocket in its entirety is now no more. Turning to look at Haruka, Colress replied, "Very well. My device isn't suped up enough to be strong enough to control lore Pokémon anyway. At most, I feel that, right now, it can only control Pokémon up to certain species that some folks have dubbed as 'pseudo-legends'."
"Yes, I know what you mean by that term," Haruka said, "After Swordsman had saved me from the gilded cage that was my former life, he was accosted by a girl who, with me backing him, he was able to defeat although I went down in the process. We were then accosted by a boy who used a Tyranitar, which is one of the species of Pokémon that have been dubbed as pseudo-legends." Folding her arms over her chest, Haruka went on, "Haxorus, as powerful as it is, unfortunately does NOT qualify as a 'pseudo-legend'. If we're to test the current upper limits of your device, we'll need to find a Pokémon such as a Tyranitar or a-"
"Dragonite, use Dragon Rush on Haxorus!"
Haruka was cut off when she, Colress, and the two nameless Team Scorn grunts heard a girl's voice call out from down on the ground. Looking down, the villains saw the heroes, with Iris commanding her Dragonite to attack the rampaging Haxorus. "...Well how about that," Haruka said. Turning to Colress after Haxorus was beaten back down on the ground, Haruka went on, "Try testing your device on the Dragonite down there."
"My pleasure," Colress replied, aiming the EM Wave device at Iris's Dragonite.
...
Down on the ground, after Iris's Dragonite had pushed the Haxorus away, the heroes and Looker were looked to by Rhoder, the boy who owned the rampaging Haxorus. "Will my Haxorus be alright?" Rhoder asked, "I mean, she's never acted like this before, what with all of this rampaging."
Stepping forward, N replied, "Although it pained me that we had to resort to physical violence in order to begin remedying the situation, even I can tell that there wasn't an effective alternative. But don't worry, Iris and the rest of her friends know how to work with Pokémon."
"Oh yeah!" Iris said, "I'm especially good with dragon type Pokémon! Isn't that right, Dra-"
"DRAAAAAAAAAA!"
Suddenly, Iris's Dragonite cried out in rampage as he began acting just like how Rhoder's Haxorus. "Iris's Dragonite has fallen back into his old habits!" Kenny exclaimed, pointing at Iris's Dragonite in a panicked manner.
There was a look of deep suspicion on Dawn's face. "...But this seems forced," Dawn said as she readied a Master Ball, "Just like how Haxorus seemed like she was rampaging due to how she was being forced into it." Tossing up the Master Ball, Dawn called out, "Tsukune! Help us subdue Iris's Dragonite again!"
The named Palkia, upon coming out of its ball, saw that meddlesome Dragonite acting like it used to. However, Tsukune same as Dawn was able to tell that this behavior that Iris's Dragonite was showing wasn't a natural temper-tantrum, that some outside power was forcing Dragonite to act like that. Rushing in, Tsukune quickly jumped down onto Dragonite and kept him pinned, keeping the brainwashed and crazy Dragonite from doing anything else.
However, Rhoder's Haxorus got back up and began to rampage again, so Ash resolved that by sending out his Charizard. Seeing Ash's Charizard get in on the action prompted Dawn to send out Amy, her own Charizard who had just recently evolved. "Amy, back up Ash's Charizard!" Dawn ordered, "Hit Haxorus with Dragon Pulse!"
"Charizard, hit Haxorus with Dragon Tail!" Ash called out. This saw Amy blast Haxorus with a Dragon Pulse, pushing her closer to Ash's Charizard who struck with Dragon Tail.
...
As the two Charizards tag-teamed the Haxorus while Tsukune kept the still berserk Dragonite pinned, Colress, Haruka, and the two nameless Team Scorn grunts spotted N who Colress pointed out to the others. "...He was a person of very great importance to Ghetsis," Colress said, "He may prove similarly as useful to Admin Swordsman for our plans to set up Miss Ayane to capture Reshiram."
"...Yeah, potentially," Haruka replied, gesturing for Colress and the nameless Team Scorn grunts to follow her.
...
Back down on the ground, Ash's Charizard and Dawn's named Charizard Amy just about had Rhoder's Haxorus defeated. And Iris's Dragonite, as much as he was struggling, was unable to free himself of the deity that kept him pinned. "Charizard, use Wing Attack!" Ash ordered.
"Amy, use Air Slash!" Dawn commanded.
The two Charizards used their respective flying attacks on Haxorus who, leaping forward to throw herself on the ground, was able to avoid both attacks as they collided into one another. Luckily for Ash's Charizard, he was able to parry away Amy's Air Slash. As Rhoder's Haxorus struggled to get back up, Dawn said, "We need to wrap this up quickly."
N nodded in agreement. "I agree, Dawn. It's becoming clearer to me now that the state that Haxorus and Dragonite are both in will result in them injuring themselves if they're forced to keep struggling like this."
"Then come with us, N," Colress's voice called out, making N and the others all turn to see N standing there with Haruka and the two nameless Team Scorn grunts.
Kenny and Bianca both recognized Haruka, and were shocked to see her in a unique Team Scorn outfit; it was mostly yellow, consisting of a sleeveless top that had a collar that formed around her neck, and it reached halfway down and over her skirt which was dark blue and reached halfway down her thighs, and also a cape-like protrusion that trailed down the back of her top reached halfway down her shins but covered only Haruka's backside. Haruka also wore yellow arm warmers that went from halfway up her hands to halfway up her biceps, and they looked attached to her sleeveless blouse with dark blue cloth straps. Haruka wore yellow stockings (with dark blue highlights) that reached halfway up her thighs, and yellow shoes.
The Team Scorn insignia was worn as a patch on Haruka's top, worn on her chest over her left breast.
Pointing to Haruka, Kenny said, "You're that girl from Opelucid City. The one who threw her hat in with Team Scorn."
"Why did you join them?!" Bianca practically screamed.
"...Why, you ask?" Haruka replied, cracking her neck a little bit, "Why did I join up with the guy who freed me from the gilded cage that I was forcefully kept in all my life?" Looking at Bianca, Haruka said while giving her a spine-chilling unamused stare, "Because I finally knew what freedom was like. Something that you don't seem to understand all that much."
"This is all well and good," Colress spoke up, "But I'm afraid that we must get down to business." Gesturing to N, Colress went on, "N, you must come with us. You'll be of great help to helping to carry out the great task that had been bestowed upon Admin Swordsman."
"I don't think so!" N said back, "My answer to your new boss is the same as what I gave to Ghetsis! Get lost!"
Waving his finger in the 'ah ah ah' gesture, Colress replied, "Ah ah ah, not so fast." Showing his EM Wave device, Colress said, "This here is my EM Wave device, which is what I've been using to make Haxorus and later Dragonite attack at one-hundred and twenty percent capacity."
Trip pointed an accusing finger at Colress. "So it was you this whole time!"
"I think that you and your friends here will be coming in for questioning!" Looker declared.
N was particularly revolted by what Colress was doing. "So you've been manipulating Pokémon artificially!" N scowled, "How dare you! I won't allow you to get away with doing something so reprehensible!"
"You're not exactly in any spot to stop me," Colress said, "You see, I can just control Haxorus and Dragonite into fighting again. Although my device does seem to have a limit of two Pokémon at any one time so I can't go after those Charizards right now. And it's far too weak to even attempt to control a Pokémon as powerful as that beast that you've got subduing Dragonite for you." Gently shaking his head, Colress went on, "But I can still make do with the Haxorus and Dragonite."
Seeing Colress turn a dial on his device, the heroes heard Haxorus and Dragonite cry out in outrage as they renewed their struggling. "Haxorus and Dragonite are going to be hurt at this rate!" N cried out, "You've got to stop!"
Haruka looked a bit unamused even. "...Yeah, this does seem a tad excessive. Swordsman did say no harm to Pokémon."
"It's a grim but necessary tactic to ensure the lot of us can escape capture," Colress explained to Haruka as Haxorus seemingly got a second wind and Dragonite was able to wriggle out from underneath Tsukune.
As the brainwashed and crazy dragon Pokémon began their rampage anew, N cried out to them, "Haxorus and Dragonite! Please! You two both must stop it with this-"
N got cut off when Haxorus and Dragonite fired a Hyper Beam and a Flamethrower respectively at N, hitting him and causing great injury. "N!" Dawn called out, then turned to look at where the rampaging dragon Pokémon were. "Tsukune, use Spacial Rend on Dragonite! Amy, use Dragon Pulse on Haxorus!"
"Charizard, use Flamethrower on Haxorus!" Ash ordered.
Three attacks flew in from different directions, making the berserk dragon Pokémon scramble to dodge. Dragonite was able to avoid the Spacial Rend that went on to crash into a Team Scorn helicopter that was nearby and wreck it up completely, but Dragon Pulse and Flamethrower hit Haxorus and Dragonite respectively, with Dragonite getting hit by Flamethrower due to how he scrambled to avoid Spacial Rend. After the dragons were both hit, the red glow in their eyes faded, and they had clearly regained their sense of self.
Colress, seeing this, turned to the helicopter that was wrecked. Looking at his device he held in his hand, Colress said, "The machine in the helicopter emiting the EM waves I was mainipualting with my device here! It was wrecked!" Colress then took out a high tech looking grenade of some kind and threw it at the ground, creating a massive and instant large cloud of sight obscuring smoke that he, Haruka, and the two nameless Team Scorn grunts used as cover so that they could flee.
After the smoke faded, Iris and Rhoder were able to recall their now restored Dragonite and Haxorus. Seeing that N is unconsious, the heroes carefully picked him up and proceeded to take him to safety where they could figure out how to treat him.
Later, after the heroes bailed from the besieged part of the city, they were fretting over N, who was still out of it after he was struck by the combined efforts of the two brainwashed and crazy dragon Pokémon. Speaking of, Iris's Dragonite now that he had regained his sense of self was not happy with what he had done while Colress's EM Wave machine was scrambling his brains, showing that the once rogue Dragonite really did change for the better after all. It was also while the heroes were fretting over N that Bianca pointed out how Colress had additions to his outfit that denoted him as a member of Team Scorn.
That, once the reborn trainers realized it, made them take pause. Dawn at least remembered in her previous life how Colress was affiliated with Team Plasma, both in the video games and the anime. But here, Colress was now part of Team Scorn. It really threw the reborn trainers for a loop to actually see it. "Guys, what are we going to do about N?" Iris asked in a worried tone.
Dawn gave a gentle shake of her head. "...I don't know. It's not like we have access to any method that could heal him-"
Dawn was then cut off when a mysterious fog suddenly rolled in. "Yo yo yo, wuz goin' on?" Kenny asked, looking around quickly as if out of a sense of mild panic as the fog continued to roll in.
As the heroes all looked around, two girls appeared out of the fog with a Gothitelle and a Gardevoir. The Gothitelle used Psychic to gently levitate N up before it and the rest of its group turned to leave. Dawn recognized the girls as Anthea and Concordia, who are connected to N as dedicated allies of his, although she didn't remember the exact nature of the relationship between them. Knowing that the girls and their Pokémon meant no harm to N, the heroes all got up and proceeded to follow them.
...
After following Anthea and Concordia into a beautiful forest area, the heroes saw them have Gothitelle lay N in some waters. "They're... putting N in the water?" Iris said in a confused tone as she tried walking up to check on N, only for the Gardevoir to stop her. Iris after she was stopped tried again, a little annoyed that she was kept from checking on N, but this time Ash who got the idea stopped Iris with a hand on her shoulder. The dragon tamer in training was about to round on Ash out of concern for N, up until Ash without speaking pointed out to Iris that the waters N had been placed in were healing him.
After his wounds had healed enough, N woke up. Seeing the girls, N instantly knew what had happened after he had passed out. "Anthea, Concordia, thanks for the save."
"Well we certainly couldn't leave you hanging," Concordia replied. Turning to look at the heroes, Concordia asked, "Who are they?"
"Friends who have strong bonds with Pokémon," N replied, "Not to mention how they've been fighting against the efforts of that Team Scorn group."
Anthea and Concordia looked surprised by what N said, but then turned to look at the heroes, even noticing how close Pikachu and Axew were to Ash and Iris respectively. As the two girls relented, N pointed out to everyone the nearby house, in which the heroes were able to see some wild Pokémon. Understanding that it was a place to reconvene, the group all made their way over and into the house.
Inside of the house, the heroes saw a number of various Pokémon, although said Pokémon tried to shy away from the heroes. Ash and Dawn, seeing this, kept an excited Bianca and Iris from rushing over to see some of the shy Pokémon. "The Pokémon here were, in one way or another, abused slash mentally scarred by greedy and untrustworthy humans in the past," N explained, "They aren't all that trusting of humans as a whole."
"And yet they seem fine with you and the ladies here," Trip remarked, "Showing that either they can recover some trust in humans, or that you guys are truly good persons, or a generous mix of both facts." N then led the heroes over to a room where he, as well as the girls and a few Audino, were looking after some hurt Pokémon in the house.
"Could you tell us your purpose in why you wanna put a stopper on the foul shenanigans of Team Scorn?" Kenny asked, "I mean, we ourselves wanna put them in their place because their actions, especially towards Pokémon, are one-hundred percent not cool. But we would like some finer details out of you, if that's okay."
Anthea and Concordia looked like they wanted to object, but N held a hand to cut off any objections from them. "They deserve to know," N said to the girls. Turning to look at the heroes, N went on, "Long ago, I used to live in seclusion in a large castle, up until Anthea and Concordia here came with some Pokémon who were abused by foul humans."
"Note to self," Kenny thought, "Do NOT tell these guys about Pre-redemption arc Paul."
"The abuse that those Pokémon had suffered," N went on to say, "It's why I'm as averse to battling as I am. It was after that point that Ghetsis, the leader of Team Plasma, came and told me about Team Plasma, who according to him had the goal of freeing abused Pokémon from the humans abusing them. You see, I have this... ability... that lets me hear the inner voice of Pokémon and effectively communicate with them, and Ghetsis said that this ability of mine would be useful in helping the abused Pokémon."
"But Ghetsis's words were honeyed lies," Anthea said, "He in truth had different plans, but Concordia and I didn't know what said plans were just yet."
"One night, about two years ago," N went on, "I was brought to the catsle by Ghetsis and used to summon the legendary Pokémon Reshiram. But Reshiram grew angry, and in its rage destroyed the castle. I alone was found by Anthea and Concordia, who realized that not all of what Ghetsis had said were lies."
Concordia nodded in agreement. "We realized that humans and Pokémon do in fact need to be seperated and live apart, so as to lead a healthy life."
"You guys seem to be overlooking the fact that not ALL humans are greedy evil jerk-wads who abuse Pokémon," Kenny pointed out, "Some humans are actually pretty good persons who treat Pokémon as they deserve."
The two girls looked at Kenny and the rest of the heroes with questioning looks. "...So you don't see things from our point of view," Concordia said, sounding even.
"You may stay the evening, but must leave in the morning," Anthea added.
"What, because we don't agree with you on what you say about how all humans and Pokémon must be separated from one another?" Kenny replied, "Just because we don't see eye to eye on one thing doesn't give you girls an excuse to give us the cold shoulder."
"He... actually has a point," N remarked, "Girls, you are being rather rude to Kenny and his friends over how they don't fully see eye to eye with us."
The two girls turned to look at one another, and looked to ultimately relent. "...Apologies," Anthea said after she and Concordia turned to look at the heroes, "We had gotten so concerned for the safety and well being of Pokémon abused at the hands of foul humans that we had overlooked how there are still good humans who actually care for the well being of Pokémon."
Pointing to Anthea and Concordia, Bianca added, "Like the two of you and N?"
"You girls didn't count yourselves among the humans who had to be separated from Pokémon," Cilan began, "Did you?"
Anthea and Concordia turned to look at one another, exchanging confused looks. "...We've made a terrible mistake," Concordia said. With tempers settled, the heroes got to rest the night without issue.
...
The following morning, however, the heroes woke up to see that the forest had disappeared, but a note was found slipped into a pile of clothes that was Ash's. The note told the heroes that something came up that required N, Anthea, and Concordia to take off, but they held no ill will towards the heroes. "Was the meeting with N and the girls just a dream?" Iris asked.
Pointing to the note that Ash held, Cilan remarked in a dry tone, "Yeah no."
Putting the note away, Ash said, "I'm certain that we'll see them again." As the heroes got ready for the day, Iris's Axew spotted a structure in the distance.
"...Hey, Axew had spotted the Dragonspiral Tower," Cilan said, "That means we're getting close to our goal of reaching the White Ruins."
"Let us make haste!" Kenny said as he tried dashing off for the Dragonspiral Tower, only to be stopped by a hand on his shoulder from Dawn.
Turning to look at his friend, Kenny saw Dawn as she said, "Let's first wake up a bit more."
END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FORTY-SIX
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the beginning of the Team Plasma arc involving Reshiram, but said arc got usurped by Team Scorn instead. They deal with the rampaging Haxorus, Looker showed up but got lost somehow, the heroes see to N being treated, and Anthea and Concordia are called out for making assumptions and general mild rudeness. The next chapter will see things continue towards the ultimate showdown, but there's still quite a lot to cover. So hold on to your hats, because this might take a while.
