Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter One-hundred and forty-eight: Set sail for adventure with a Kalosian reporter
The heroes, after the massive failure at the White Ruins that was Team Scorn successfully capturing Reshiram, eventually made it back to Nuvema Town, where they were staying with the younger Professor Juniper. Ash was gently woken up by Trip in the room that the two of them plus Kenny and Cilan were provided for lodging; Dawn, Iris, and Bianca were put in a separate room. After the heroes had all woken up, they had breakfast with Juniper, who they had brought up to date on what all had happened over at the White Ruins.
The younger Professor Juniper looked very much concerned with the news that a high ranking member of Team Scorn had straight up captured Reshiram. "This does not bode well for the rest of the world at large," Juniper said, "This does not bode well at all. Team Scorn now has access to a legendary Pokémon that's comparable to Palkia, Giratina, and Dialga."
"I still can't believe that Team Scorn caught Reshiram," Iris said in a concerned tone, "An awesome dragon Pokémon like that, now in the hands of villains."
"So what do we do?" Cilan asked.
Looking to gthe heroes, Juniper asked, "My father told me that Looker of the international police was there and saw what happened. Is that true?"
Dawn nodded in the affirmative. "It is, yes."
"Then the international police are aware that Team Scorn's level of threat that they pose to the rest of the world had just gone up significantly," Juniper said, "Hopefully they'll take measures to try to resolve the issue of Team Scorn having Reshiram." Looking to the heroes, Juniper asked, "But enough of that for now. What plans do you kids have next?"
"Well actually," Ash said, "I plan to return to Kanto."
Hearing that drew looks of surprise out of Iris, Cilan, and Bianca. "You want to go home?" Bianca asked.
"I wanna tell Professor Oak about my journey here in Unova," Ash explained, "The good..." Letting out a troubled sigh, Ash added, "...And the bad." The rest of the heroes all decided that they wanted to go with Ash as well; Iris because she wanted to learn about dragon Pokémon from other regions, Cilan because he wanted to do more connoisseur work, Bianca because she wanted to look into growing stronger, and the reborn trainers because of varying reasons that all ultimately tied back to a desire to keep an eye on the rest of the group, Ash in particular (the reborn trainers didn't say out loud why they were going with Ash, however).
Juniper, with an amused look on her face, said, "Well then, I suggest that you all go through the Decolore Islands. Several rare Pokémon live there, so it'll be well worth the trip through anyway." The heroes all seemed excited about that and agreed. Seeing that Ash was heading back to Kanto, what Pokémon of his that were being kept at Juniper's lab would be sent to Oak's lab. Juniper called Oak and made the arrangement, with Oak not only agreeing but expressing interest in seeing Ash and all of his friends once again. Oak was also interested in hearing that Trip would be among the group, citing an interest in studying Trip's Dialga.
That prompted Juniper to mention that part of why she was so relieved to be sending Ash's Unova catches to Oak was due to how the Pokémon of Trip's being kept at Juniper's lab were starting to crowd up what space she had available for Pokémon. This prompted Oak to offer to house Trip's Pokémon at his lab, as the fields his lab has for Pokémon went on for days practically. This not only freed up space at Juniper's lab, but it gave Oak direct access to additional new Pokémon to study; he was particularly eager to study Deelia, as well as Trip's named alpha Hisuian Goodra Todoroki.
Trip agreed, and thus all of his extra Pokémon, as well as Ash's Pokémon that were being kept at Juniper's lab, were transferred to Oak's lab. Oak had to end the call afterwards due to Ash's Muk getting excited about Ash coming back to Kanto. With that business out of the way, the heroes and Juniper went about getting ready for the heroes to head off for the Decolore Islands.
Later, the heroes and Juniper arrived at the docks, and Juniper after paying for the tickets handed them to the heroes. The heroes then soon found the ship that they were slated to go on, the Decolore Queen, and soon set sail for the Decolore Islands.
They had a number of adventures along the way, such as visiting an island famous for Combee honey, then there was a gem mystery where Cilan flexed his detective skills while still not getting over his absurd fear of Purrloins (Kenny was offended by said fear due to having a Purrloin of his own), seeing a competition where Oshawotts and their evolutions took part in a 'Scalchop King Competition' that none of them entered (Ash and Kenny couldn't enter due to not having Dewott and Giyu on hand), and some shenanigans involving a Zorua encountering an older Nurse Joy it befriended.
They encountered Professor Oak on an island where he caught a Rotom, but they chose to continue traveling the Decolore Islands rather than go straight to Kanto with Oak. After that, they dealt with some water Pokémon who were being pirates, they saw some butterfree flocks which reminded Ash of his own Butterfree that he had a long time ago, and then they stopped at an island called Capacia Island.
While there, Ash successfully captures a Dunsparce to Iris's surprise, the heroes met a girl named Gemma and helped her with an adventure involving the mythical Pokémon Jirachi, and dealt with some shenanigans involving some Beheeyem while each of the heroes except for Iris finds an Amulet Coin each. After their time there on Capacia Island, the heroes were able to leave at long last, and eventually made their way to a place called Harvest Island.
It was there on Harvest Island that the reborn trainers saw a person who would be a link to the next region that they expected to travel through...
After getting off at Harvest Island, the heroes looked around a bit. "So according to Mr. Porter," Bianca said, "Harvest Island here is famous for its abundance of fresh grown berries that's made into food and sold."
"And coincidentally," Kenny went on, "We're here just in time for Harvest Island's annual Grand Harvest Festival."
Letting out an excited squeal of a cheer, Iris said, "This is gonna be so exciting! They used to have similar festivals over in the Village of Dragons all the time, you know."
Iris was then about to run off in a random direction but Ash, spotting something in Iris's path, held her off by putting a hand on her right shoulder from behind her. When Iris asked Ash what the big deal was for stopping her, he pointed out what she would have in her excitement run over. The reborn trainers recognized what Ash had pointed out as a Helioptile, a species of Pokémon from the Kalos region. When the rest of the heroes were going about trying to identify what species of Pokémon the Helioptile was, Trip came to the rescue.
"Ah, it's a Helioptile," Trip remarked in a casual tone.
"You know what Pokémon that is, Trip?" Ash asked.
Nodding once in the affirmative, Trip explained, "I read about it when I was looking up electric Pokémon from other regions, as I like electric Pokémon almost as much as I like steel Pokémon. Helioptile there is a dual electric normal type Pokémon from the Kalos region."
"You are very well informed, random Unovan boy!" an adult female voice called out, making the heroes all turn to see Alexa, the journalist lady from Kalos, come walking up. The reborn trainers knew who she was, but no one else knew so they had to play dumb until Alexa gave her name. Helioptile turned and then ran up to Alexa, climbing up her and settling on her shoulder.
Gesturing to Alexa, Trip replied, "Thanks, and my name's Trip. What's yours?"
"Oh, where are my manners," Alexa replied, "My name's Alexa, and this here is my Helioptile. I'm a journalist from the Kalos region." As Alexa talked, a Gogoat came walking on over. "Ah, and this is my Gogoat," Alexa said, "Another species of Pokémon from my home region of Kalos."
Ash, surprisingly, folded his arms over his chest as he wore a look of consideration on his face. "Kalos... Kalos... Huh, for some odd reason, that region sounds familiar to me..."
Gesturing to Alexa, Cilan asked, "What brings you here to the Decolore Islands, Alexa?"
"I'm wanting to do a journalist article on the festival here for a magazine that's published back in Kalos," Alexa explained, "There's even going to be a Pokémon Sumo Tournament where the winner gets a Focus Band a a whole bunch of berries."
"Hey, I entered a similar event back when I was journeying through Johto," Ash remarked. A look of consideration spread across Ash's face. "...Maybe I'll enter the one here as well." Ash's declaration that he'd enter inspired all of the heroes aside from Dawn to wanna enter, although Kenny and Trip said they'd need to rotate some more appropriate Pokémon into their parties first. Alexa, seeing the potential to get some good photos as well as a little footage, asked if she could get the photos and footage of the heroes participating. They all agreed.
...
As there was time before the competition, Alexa led the heroes to go try some of the local treats made on Harvest Island. During one such visit to a stall, Dawn was looking at a pie that caught her attention when she heard a boy call out, "Move it, Blondie!" Dawn then heard Bianca cry out in surprise and turned to see a plump and mean looking boy shove Bianca out of the way, taking a pie that Bianca when she recovered said she was going to take.
"Oi, fatass," Dawn snarled in a clearly pissed off tone, cutting the rude fat boy off and making him turn to see Dawn.
"...There's no need for harsh language, girl," the fat boy said.
"But you seem to think that there IS a need to shove girls out of your way to grab something that they were going to grab," Dawn went on, her unamused tone never changing. As Dawn was giving the rude fat boy a dressing down, the rest of the heroes and Alexa came over to see what was going on.
"What's happening?" Ash asked.
Gesturing to the rude fat boy, Dawn said, "This guy here shoved Bianca out of his way and grabbed a pie that she was going to get."
"Hey now, there's no need to shove girls around like that," Alexa admonished towards the rude fat boy.
"Yeah," Iris scowled, "The hell is your problem, fatass?"
"My name is Rodney," said the now identified Rodney, "And there's no need for the harsh language or the insults."
"You shoved a girl!" Iris scowled, "All bets are off the table!"
Getting the scene to settle down, Kenny said, "Look, why don't we settle this in the sumo competition?"
Pointing at Rodney, Iris asked, "Is he entering?"
"With my Golurk, yes," Rodney replied, "Why, you didn't think I was going to try to wrestle in the tournament myself, did you?"
Shrugging, Iris replied, "Well if the shoe fits..." Rodney, looking annoyed, turned around and stormed off, leaving the pie that Bianca wanted to take which she did. Afterwards, the heroes and Alexa enjoyed their treats, with Alexa doing some filming after having Helioptile charge up one of her devices when she noticed the charge level on it was low. Bianca then excitedly tried to pet Helioptile, but it cowered away and scurried to hide in one of the bags that Alexa had on her Gogoat. Dawn gently reminded Bianca that a calm, gentle approach had to be taken with some Pokémon.
After everyone had their treats and went over to the arena, the Sumo competition began. There were sixteen competitors, including Ash, Iris, Cilan, Bianca, Trip, and Kenny. Dawn, as per usual, sat out the competition, wanting to enjoy being a spectator. Dawn sat in the audience with Alexa, who had her Helioptile out on her lap. As for Dawn, she had her named Infernape Chi-Chi sitting next to her. Alexa was amazed to see a Pokémon from the Sinnoh region like Infernape, and was even interested in wanting to get some photos of some of Dawn's Pokémon later.
But that would have to wait, as the sumo competition was well under way. Surprisingly, Rodney was eliminated in the first round by Kenny, who was fielding his named Snorlax Slick. When Slick won, he posed by folding his arms over his chest while wearing his MLG shades; Kenny, who had his named Purrloin Lin out standing next to him, copied the gesture that Slick did, even wore his own pair of MLG shades. The named Purrloin even did so as well, and Alexa thought it was cute that Lin was up on her hind legs, front legs folded over her chest, and she wore a Purrloin-sized pair of MLG shades.
The rounds flew by quickly, and during the semifinals, Kenny and Slick eliminated Cilan and his Pansage, although Cilan was a bit psyched out because Lin was standing next to Kenny like Pikachu stood next to Ash. Speaking of, Ash won his semifinal round against Trip, Ash's Emboar pushing Trip's named Golurk AkiBot 966 out of the ring. As such, the final round ended up seeing Ash's Emboar square off against Kenny's named Snorlax, to determine which one between the two heavyweight Pokémon would be scoring the win in the final round of the sumo competition.
The win, surprisingly, ended up going to Kenny, thanks to Slick using his weight advantage to shove Ash's Emboar out of the ring. Although Kenny did get the prizes of the Focus Band and all of the berries, he was more happy with the prize of getting some manner of revenge for the loss he had suffered to Ash back in the Lily of the Valley Conference back in Sinnoh. Kenny, along with Slick and Lin, posed for when a photo was taken to commemorate Kenny's win; he, Slick, and Lin had their front arms (or legs in Lin's case) crossed as they stood in a group while Kenny and Slick made the devil horn gesture with both of their respective hands (Lin couldn't do it due to lacking opposable digits, but the air she gave off matched what Kenny and Slick did). They also all wore their MLG shades.
Dawn began to wonder just how many pairs of MLG shades Kenny owns.
...
"So Alexa," Cilan began as he, the rest of the heroes, and Alexa partook in the berries and other food items that Kenny won, "Where do your travels take you next?"
"I'm actually aiming to go to Kanto," Alexa said.
"Hey, us too," Trip said. Gesturing to Alexa, Trip said, "Maybe we'll be traveling together?"
Alexa, with an amused smirk on her face, replied, "Sounds pretty grand, now that you-"
"GAAHH!"
Alexa was cut off when she and the others heard Cilan cry out in alarm; turning to see, the heroes and Alexa saw it that Kenny's named Purrloin Lin had hopped into Cilan's lap and sniffed at the berry that he was holding. Cilan was trembling out of frightened discomfort due to Lin being in his lap. "...Oh come on, Cilan," Kenny said, "There's no need to fear Lin. She's a good kitty." Lin then gave a short but cute sounding meow as she continued to sniff up at where Cilan held the berry he had.
Later, the heroes continued their adventures through the Decolore Islands, with one adventure instigated by Alexa leading the heroes to an island populated by Pokémon who evolve by use of evolutionary stones; the heroes were able to resolve the conflict, and the reborn trainers were even able to claim whatever leftover stones that there were after helping a trio of Eevees evolve. With those stones in hand, the heroes and Alexa continued their adventure through the Decolore Islands, eventually going to a place called Cave Island.
There, they would have an encounter with someone familiar to some of the heroes...
...
When the heroes and Alexa got off on Cave Island, Alexa called out, "Hoo boy, can't wait to get crackin' here!"
Cilan turned to look at the journalist from Kalos. "...You plan to shoot a documentary here?"
"Oh yeah," Alexa replied, "Imma get me some good quality footage with my equipment that I just now realized I've forgotten back on-"
Alexa was cut off when Dawn held up a bag of Alexa's belongings, with the lens of a video camera sticking out of one of the pockets. "You mean this?"
"Dawn you are a lifesaver," Alexa said as she recieved the goods from Dawn before heading off further into Cave Island on her Gogoat.
After Alexa had taken off, the heroes began to look around. During said looking around, it was Ash who spotted Clair, the Blackthorn City gym leader from the Johto region. "Clair!" Ash called out, getting Clair's attention and running up to her.
Clair was surprised to see Ash, and further surprised to see the group traveling with him. "Oh, Ash!" Clair said, "It certainly has been a while." Seeing Ash's group, Clair spotted Dawn and Kenny in particular. "...And you've brought Dawn and Kenny with you," Clair said, "I remember the efforts that they had given to help save the day back when Blackthorn City had been besieged by Team Scorn."
Cilan had a grim look on his face. "...Yes, I heard about that. Given that you, Dawn, and Kenny were present for it, mayve we can get some details?"
"I'm down for it if Dawn and Kenny are," Clair replied, "Perhaps the tales we have to share will give you all more reason to help fight the evil that is Team Scorn."
...
The group then took a break, during which Dawn, Kenny, and Clair recounted their experiences from the Team Scorn siege on Blackthorn City. It was Dawn who told the others about how she was in the group that came upon the body of a woman who had been decapitated by the Team Scorn Admin leading the siege. Dawn also added that said woman, Miss Akeno, had seen to Ayane being expelled from Blackthorn City Academy because Ayane had stood up to Akeno when the cruel woman had been bullying an autistic girl in front of said girl's class and Ayane's own.
Iris's expression became grim. "...So the villainess who caught Reshiram... she used to be a student at a trainer school in Clair's hometown before being expelled by a woman who apparently wanted to get away scot free with bullying special needs students."
Clair's expression likewise became grim. "...Yes. My cousin Lance got it that the girl who serves as the direct assistant to Team Scorn's boss is now in possession of a legendary dragon Pokémon." Looking to Dawn and Kenny, Clair said, "You two are going to be needed now more than ever."
"Don't forget Trip here," Kenny pointed out, "He's got Dialga in his corner, like how Dawn and I have Palkia and Giratina respectively."
"That will be a big help, yes," Clair replied. To lighten the mood, Ash asked Clair what her business was on Cave Island, to which Clair replied, "Actually, I'm here to look into the rumors of a shiny Druddigon having been spotted here. If said rumors are true, I intend to capture the shiny Druddigon."
"Wow, a shiny Druddigon!" Iris said, "You gotta let us help you!"
Clair gave a gentle smile. "It'd be my pleasure."
Having rested while talking, the heroes and Clair proceeded to make their way into the forest in which the cave that's rumored to be the home of the shiny Druddigon is located. The group passed a few cave dwelling Pokémon along the way, but all of said Pokémon were just minding their own business, although some clearly looked to be looking for food as wild Pokémon do. As such, the group had a largely uneventful jaunt through the forest, up until they had at last come across the cave that they had been looking around for.
As the group made its way into the cave, Bianca asked, "So what do shiny Druddigons look like?"
"Hey, hey," Kenny began, "Wouldn't it be funny if, right after Bianca had just asked that, we're jumped by the very Pokémon that we all came in here to find?"
Rolling her eyes, Dawn said, "Kenny, there's no need to tempt fa-"
"DIGON!"
The group jumped back out of surprise when the shiny Druddigon suddenly leapt out from somewhere to accost the group; its head was orange and its body was green. The wild shiny Druddigon roared again at the group, clearly unamused with how it had tresspassed in its cave. "...Kenny," Dawn began as Clair prepared to face off against the shiny Druddigon.
Turning to look at Dawn, Kenny replied, "Yee?"
"Not..." Dawn began, "...One... word."
After Kenny took the cue to be quiet, Clair sent out a Dragonite of her own, surprising the group. Ash even recognized it as the Dragonite from the Dragon Holy Land from Blackthorn City's Dragon's Den area. After Clair confirmed Ash's guess, she initiated the battle against the shiny Druddigon. "Dragonite, use Hyper Beam!" Clair called out.
Dragonite fired its Hyper Beam, but the shiny Druddigon countered it with a Flamethrower. The two attacks pushed against one another, up until Hyper Beam eventually won out and went on to hit Druddigon directly. However, this left Dragonite vulnerable as it was recovering from the recoil of using Hyper Beam. As such, the shiny Druddigon used Outrage, hitting Dragonite with the first round of Outrage, then the second round. This resulted in Clair's Dragonite actually getting knocked out, but it did leave the shiny Druddigon confused afterwards.
Clair recalled her Dragonite, then sent her Kingdra out. At Clair's command, Kingdra used Yawn, successfully lulling the shiny Druddigon into a tired state; Clair even told the heroes that she specifically had Kingdra learn Yawn to help her with catching the shiny Druddigon. Speaking of, the shiny Druddigon tried to attack but it ended up hitting itself in its own confusion. Clair then had Kingdra use Agility, and the shiny Druddigon was able avoid hitting itself in confusion to try hitting Kingdra with Dragon Tail, but it ended up missing.
After that, the shiny Druddigon ended up falling asleep, having succumbed to the tiring effects of Kingdra's Yawn. With the shiny Druddigon having nappy times, Clair took out a pokéball, expanded it, and then threw it at the shiny Druddigon. The pokéball took Druddigon into itself, fell to the ground with a light clink, then proceeded to shake around for a few seconds before making a ping sound, indicating capture. The heroes all cheered as Clair retrieved the pokéball that held her shiny new shiny Druddigon. With Clair's mission a success, the heroes took off from the cave.
Later at the port on Cave Island, the heroes and Clair met up with Alexa. "Dang it," Alexa said, "I failed to find a shiny Druddigon to film and take pictures of."
"Clair, show her," Dawn said, prompting Clair to call out her new shiny Druddigon. Excited, Alexa proceeded to shoot pictures and film a short clip of Clair's shiny Druddigon. This prompted the reborn trainers to wonder if Alexa would like to get photos and footage of the shiny Pokémon that they all own; Dawn also wondered if Alexa would like to see the shiny Noctowl, shiny Dusknoir, and shiny Steelix that Ash owns.
After Alexa had simmered down, Bianca asked, "So Clair, where do your travels take you to next?"
"I wanna go visit the Village of Dragons," Clair explained, "Followed by Opelucid City." A hint of knowing pain entered Clair's expression. "...I heard that Opelucid City had been attacked by Team Scorn, similar to what had happened in Blackthorn City."
"The overall damage that Opelucid City suffered ain't as bad as the overall damage that Blackthorn City suffered," Dawn explained.
Bianca, with a grim look on her face, added, "But the Team Scorn Admin leading the siege on Opelucid City was reported to have killed three people."
Clair's expression, as well as that of Alexa's, became shocked. "Even the siege on Blackthorn City only saw one human death," Clair said, "You're telling me that the siege on Opelucid City got three times that?"
"Yeah, Team Scorn is a far deadlier breed than other antagonistic criminal teams out there," Kenny said, "But silver lining, Team Scorn has never killed any Pokémon. At least to my knowledge." The rest of the group that was present all agreed; Ash in particular cited that he'd be worried about how N would react if Team Scorn had killed a Pokémon and he (N) was made aware of it. Dawn sincerely hoped that no Pokémon would ever see its life claimed by the actions of Team Scorn.
After Iris told Clair she'd like to try battling her the next time the two of them crossed paths, Clair took off on a ship other than the one that the heroes and Alexa got on so that they could continue their journey through the Decolore Islands. After the two ships parted ways, the heroes on their ship had to deal with an overly excited Alexa when Kenny decided to inform her about all of the shiny Pokémon that were owned between him, Ash, Dawn, and Trip. As Dawn had predicted, Alexa more or less ended up begging the reborn trainers and Ash to let her get photos and footage of their shiny Pokémon.
Since the group was all heading on over to Kanto anyway, Dawn was able to convince Alexa to wait until they got to Pallet Town, where it'd be much easier to manage everything as Alexa can just get the photos and footage while at Oak's lab, where the reborn trainers and Ash kept all of their Pokémon. And so, with new goals in mind and feeling reinvigorated due to meeting back up with an old friendly associate, the heroes continued their adventures through the Decolore Islands, eager to see what all awaited them as they progressed closer and closer to Kanto.
END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT
Author's notes;
This chapter covers events after the shenanigans involving Team Scorn snagging Reshiram. However, a lot of filler episodes are skimmed over in favor of speeding things along to get the heroes to meet with Alexa, who is from the Kalos region which is the next region that the reborn trainers and Ash will be going through. The episode with Clair catching the shiny Druddigon is also covered for important reasons, but things will have to be waited for until later to be covered in detail.
Additionally, things involving the Team Rocket trio had been omitted entirely due to them not following the heroes around anymore; Team Rocket had been wholly disbanded after all of its command was rounded up, and the Team Rocket trio had joined Team Scorn. Don't worry, the Team Rocket trio will appear in the story again, but not until the Kalos content is reached and explored. Anyway, the next chapter will skim a few filler episodes before getting to events that will have an effect on the story as a whole. You'll have to wait to see to believe.
Also, Merry Christmas! This chapter came out on 12-25-2022, which is also this story's one year anniversary! And what a year it's been! Let't see where things will be going on from here, hmm?
