Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter One-hundred and fifty-four: Bonjour, Kalos!
The Kalos region. A land of beauty and wonder, both ancient and modern. It had many attractions that drew in people from other regions all over the world. There was also an abundance of wild Pokémon, many of which can't be found in the wild outside of Kalos. Those Pokémon by themselves draw in many persons, both of goodly intent and the not so kind. Indeed, when it came to the Kalos region, there was never a dull moment, never a lack of things to do. As such, one would be surprised by a sleepy little town in Kalos called Vaniville Town, as there was a quiet peace settled over everything.
...Up until a girl cried out in alarm, followed by a slamming thud onto a floor, followed by the sound of a Fletchling crying out in alarm as it flew around to avoid a pillow being thrown at it. "GET OUT!" the girl yelled, clearly annoyed.
...
Downstairs in that home, a somewhat grumpy looking girl sat at the table as she watched her mother make something at the stove. "You know mom, if you wanted me to wake up, you didn't have to send Fletchling in to peck me in the head until I woke up," the girl said to her mom.
"Well I was too busy to go wake you up myself," the girl's mother replied, "Sorry about Fletchling pecking you, Serena."
The girl, now identified as Serena, nodded in understanding. As Serena ate breakfast, her mom went on about training to work with racing Rhyhorns. Rhyhorn racing was always a passion that Serena's mom had, but Serena herself felt that it wouldn't exactly be her cup of tea. Even so, Serena couldn't help but shake the feeling that something interesting was going to be happening soon.
She just wasn't sure yet what it could be.
"I am here, Kalos! Bring me your gym badges!"
"Kenny, calm down."
The reborn trainers had just arrived in Lumiose City, Kalos, and Dawn had to get Kenny to tone his excitement down at least a few notches. After Kenny had settled down, Dawn said, "Alright. Now boys, Professor Sycamore's lab is located here in Lumiose City. Professor Rowan had asked us to go see Professor Sycamore as soon as we got to Kalos, so I think that we ought to cover that pronto."
Trip nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Professor Sucksmore can give us a heads up on what to expect here in Kalos."
"It's pronounced Sycamore," Dawn pointed out dryly.
Shrugging, Trip replied, "I know what I said."
Sighing, Dawn could tell that Trip was still hurting after the attack on Nuvema Town over in Unova; the attack, carried out by Team Scorn, resulted in the death of Trip's mom in this world the reborn trainers were isekai'd into. Granted, Trip was taken in by Dawn's mom Johanna as a foster child, meaning Trip has someplace to go home to but it's in Twinleaf Town, Sinnoh now, but still one cannot go through losing a loved one like that. It made Dawn think about how she, in her previous life as Don, had made Trip, then Piper, and their mom feel.
Getting Trip's attention, Dawn said, "Can you at least refrain from calling him Sucksmore while he's within earshot? We ought to be on our best behavior."
"Fair enough," Trip replied, then added when turning to face Kenny, "What say you, Ke-"
"FiGhT mEh, KaLoS yOu CoWaRd!" Kenny cried out at the top of his lungs, not even facing Dawn and Trip.
Shrugging, Dawn said, "Yeah, Kenny will be fine." After getting Kenny to focus on the conversation, Dawn said, "Boys, we need to get directions to Sycamore's lab so that we can-"
"Where can we take Froakie? Is there a Pokémon Center nearby?"
"Professor Sycamore's lab is closer, and I know where it is! Just follow me and Bonnie!"
Dawn was cut off when she and the boys heard the familiar voice of their friend Ash Ketchum, along with the voice of a boy who Dawn suspected was Clemont due to that voice mentioning Bonnie. Sure enough, the reborn trainers saw Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie run past them a short distance ahead of them. Ash, with Pikachu on his lrft shoulder, was carrying an injured Froakie in his arms. "So Ash did make it to Kalos," Dawn said, "And since he's making a beeline for Professor Sycamore's lab, all we have to do is-"
*dash*
Dawn was cut off when Kenny ran straight ahead to try catching up with Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie, dashing quickly like an anime character fueled by determination. That promted Dawn and Trip, who are now foster siblings, to dash to catch up with Kenny.

Ash was worried about the Froakie in his arms, as it saved him, Clemont, Clemont's kid sister Bonnie, and what Pokémon they had out from an attack by some members of Team Scorn. But the Froakie was hurt bad in the process, and Ash's first instinct was to rush it to the Pokémon Center in Lumiose City. Luckily, Clemont and Bonnie were able to lead him straight to Professor Sycamore's lab, which was closer and Froakie could also be treated there. As such, the three of them were now dashing madly to get to Sycamore's lab so that Froakie could be treated.
"Will Froakie be okay, Clemont?" Bonnie asked, clearly concerned, as she and the older boys ran for Sycamore's lab.
"Don't worry, Bonnie," Clemont said, "Professor Sycamore can take care of everything."
"I certainly hope so," Ash remarked. Looking down at the Froakie in his arms, Ash went on, "We need to get Froakie here some treatment as soon as-"
"IneeddirectionstoSycamore'slab!"
Ash was cut off when he, Clemont, and Bonnie heard the quick shouting of someone approaching them quickly. Stopping short and turning to look, Ash was surprised to see that it was Kenny, although Clemont and Bonnie had no idea who he is yet. Coming to a screeching halt next to Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie, Kenny said, "The lads and I just got here to Kalos, and we need directions to Sycamore's lab because we need to see him before we continue with our Gym Challenge tour here in Kalos."
"Kenny, you caught up to me here in Kalos!" Ash said, happy to see a familiar face, "Then I can only ass-"
"Kenny, wait up!" Dawn's voice called out, cutting Ash off and making him and the others turn to see Dawn and Trip come jogging up.
After the foster siblings had caught up to the group, Ash said, "Dawn! Trip! You guys are here too!"
Pointing to the Froakie in Ash's arms, Trip said while panting a bit, "What happened here?"
Ash gave an unamused scowl. "Team Scorn happened, that's what. And you won't believe who had joined them."
"We can discuss stuff later at Sycamore's lab after we get Froakie here over there," Clemont pointed out, drawing nods of agreement from the rest of the group before they all proceeded to head on off to Sycamore's lab.
Eventually, the group had reached Sycamore's lab, where Froakie was handed to Sycamore's assistant Sophie to be treated. While that was going on, Ash asked, "Will Froakie's trainer come by to pick it up?"
Gently shaking his head, Sycamore replied, "Froakie doesn't have a trainer right now. You see, Froakie has had multiple trainers, but it either refused to obey them or simply didn't like them. Froakie's latest trainer had given up on it due to how it refused to obey orders."
"Maybe they weren't on the same vibe length?" Kenny reasoned, drawing agreeing nods out of Dawn and Trip.
Hearing Kenny speak up prompted Sycamore to turn to look at the reborn trainers. "Ah yes," Sycamore said, "I'm glad that you guys are here. Professor Rowan in Sinnoh phoned me to let me know that you three were coming. Given that Team Scorn activities are being reported to occur in Kalos, the region's government could use all the help it could get to drive them back. It's an especially great honor to have you here in Kalos, Champion Dawn."
"I thought that I recognized her," Clemoint said, "She's Dawn Berlitz, the Champion of Sinnoh."
Gesturing to the reborn trainers, Sycamore said, "I have something ready for you three, as a way to say thanks for how you'll be helping with fighting off the threat of Team Scorn." Sycamore then led the group into another room where, sitting wating on the table, were the three starter Pokémon of Kalos; Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. Chespin was just sitting there, Fennekin was reading a book that was left on the table (although if it could read was up for debate), and Froakie held its right hand over its mouth as it chuckled.
"Those are the three Pokémon offered to trainers starting out here in Kalos," Sycamore said, "Chespin who is a grass type, Fennekin who is a fire type, and you guys should already have some familiarity with Froakie who is a water type. As thanks for coming here to Kalos to among other things help fend off the threat of Team Scorn, you three can pick from among Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie to have for your own." Gesturing to Dawn, Sycamore went on, "You can go first, Champion Dawn."
Nodding once in understanding, Dawn walked up and, practically without even thinking about making a choice, scooped up Fennekin who was surprised. "I want to get Fennekin here," Dawn said. Fennekin, realizing what was going on, calmed back down and gently swished its tail as Dawn held it.
Nodding once in understanding, Sycamore said while turning to face Kenny and Trip, "Alright, which one of you boys is going next?"
Kenny and Trip decided to rock-paper-scissors for it, but they were cut off when the Froakie hopped off of a table, hopped over to a tech control pannel of some sort, hopped on, and pressed a big red button it saw while saying, "Froakie."
"FROAKIE NO!" Sycamore yelled in clear panic as he rushed to the pannel Froakie was on and slammed a big green button, stopping what Froakie had set into motion. Breathing a sigh of relief, Sycamore said while scooping up the Froakie, "Sorry, but this one here is mischevious. Not bad like the one you guys had brought in, but this one does seemed to have a liking for pressing red buttons that shouldn't be pressed."
Gesturing to Sycamore, Trip said, "I shall be taking Froakie, then. I feel as if the two of will get along swimmingly."
Turning to look where Chespin sat, Kenny said, "Then I guess the last one to be picked is-"
"CHEEEEEEEEEEEEES!" the Chespin yelled out randomly, before shutting up and continuing to sit there, a somewhat vacant (i.e. dumb) look on its face.
"...Yes," Kenny said, sounding very sure of himself, "Chespin is the best one of the three for me."
Within quick order, the reborn trainers all got the pokéballs for their new Kalos starters. "Oh by the way," Sycamore said, "Rowan told me that you three have a tendency to give nicknames to the Pokémon you respectively get. That being said, are any of you interested in giving nicknames to your new Pokémon here?"
The reborn trainers first checked what genders their new Pokémon were; Chespin and Froakie both turned out to be boys, and Fennekin turned out to be a girl. "I'll name her Levy," Dawn said as she stroked the head of her Fennekin, now dubbed as Levy.
"He shall be Nogla," Kenny said, "For it is the most fitting name for hi-"
"CHEEEEEEEEEEEEES!" the now dubbed Nogla cried out randomly, before going back to looking dim-witted.
"...Yes," Kenny said.
"And you," Trip said while looking at his Froakie, "You shall be Kululu."
The reborn trainers had to send some on hand Pokémon to Oak's lab to make room for Levy, Nogla, and Kululu, but after that was settled, Sycamore looked to the group as a whole. "Hopefully your new Pokémon will help you well in your efforts to combat Team Scorn's efforts here in Kalos," Sycamore said, "Even so, I urge you all to use the utmost caution."
"Speaking of Team Scorn," Clemont began, drawing all eyes to him, "Ash, Bonnie, and I were attacked by a group of half a dozen Team Scorn members who took off after the Froakie who saved us drove them off by raising a ruckus that attracted sufficient attention. The one girl had her Arbok use Headbutt on Froakie before she and her fellows left though, and Froakie was slammed hard into the ground after getting hit by Headbutt."
"An Arbok?" Kenny said, "Seems a bit high grade if it belongs to a rank and file grunt. Was that girl an Officer or an Officer's Assistant?"
Ash gave an unamused, grim look. "...Yeah, that's something that I need to tell you, Dawn, and Trip about."
"TEAM ROCKET JOINED TEAM SCORN?!"
The reborn trainers were all thrown for a loop when Ash told them that Jessie, James, and Meowth of the formerly existing organization Team Rocket had gone and joined Team Scorn. What's more is that Jessie confirmed that James is a Team Scorn Captain, and she his Captain's Assistant. Also, Jessie and James were able to get back their Arbok and Weezing through sheer chance, hence why Jessie had her Arbok which is what had attacked the Froakie. The half a dozen Team Scorn members were just Captain's Assistant Jessie and five random rank and file grunts; James and Meowth according to Ash were nowhere to be seen.
Sycamore scowled bitterly. "Team Scorn must be in Lumiose City to get copies of my research that I've done on Mega Evolution."
"Mega Evolution?" Ash said in a curious tone. The reborn trainers paid close attention as well.
To the group, Sycamore explained, "Mega Evolution is a phenomenon that was first discovered here in Kalos. I am still in the process of figuring out a few secrets, but I have confirmed that only certain species are capable of Mega Evolution. I have also deduced that for Mega Evolution to be achieved, the Pokémon in question needs the appropriate Mega Stone, and it needs to have a strong bond with its trainer. Also, Mega Evolution isn't a permanent change, as the Mega Evolved Pokémon will revert to its original state eventually."
Dawn folded her arms over her chest. Despite already having a good idea due to knowledge from her previous life, she had to act dumb because the others (aside from Kenny and Trip who likewise were doing what she was doing) didn't know she already knew. "...But Mega Evolution is still something that you don't wanna see fall into the hands of Team Scorn."
Sycamore nodded in confirmation. "Indeed. When a Pokémon Mega Evolves, it becomes exponentially stronger than its base form. As a matter of fact, some of my research suggests that certain species of Mega Evolution capable Pokémon when they Mega Evolve can go toe to toe with some legendary Pokémon in battle. That being said, you can imagine what it'd be like if enough members of Team Scorn were to be able to make use of Mega Evolution."
Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie all tensed up out of worried fright, and the reborn trainers despite knowing wore grim looks on their faces. It would be very bad if Team Scorn were to gain use of the Mega Evolution gimmick, as it could make dealing with them far more difficult. However, the group was surprised when Sycamore, after leaning back in his seat, said, "That's why I phoned ahead to the persons who work with Mega Evolution, with Mega and Key Stones. I told them the situation, told them about how Dawn Berlitz and two of her companions were coming to Kalos to help fend off Team Scorn. There are three Mega Rings, each with a Key Stone, waiting for the three of you."
"So Kenny, Trip, and I are going to get to use Mega Evolution," Dawn replied.
"Wow, talk about lucky," Ash said, "I bet you guys will walk all over Team Scorn afterwards!"
Sycamore nodded once more in agreement. "Dawn, Kenny, Trip. You three are currently the best hope that the regions uniting against Team Scorn's threat have at actually fending Team Scorn off. As such, if there's anything that can be given to help you in fending off Team Scorn, then you can count on it." Straightening up a bit, Sycamore went on, "Now then. I was also told by Rowan that you three are interested in challenging the gyms of regions that you visit."
"There's a gym here in Lumiose City," Ash spoke up, "But apparently you need four Kalos gym badges at least before one can challenge it."
"Then the gym in Santalune City is your next best bet," Sycamore began to explain, "I can also give a list of other gyms in other cities here in-"
*THOOM*
Sycamore was cut off when the sound of a Hyper Beam going off could be heard. "What was that?!" Bonnie exclaimed, clearly frightened.
"Trouble, that's what," Dawn said as she and the others headed to investigate, although the reborn trainers first recalled their Kalos starters. It was Sycamore who led the group to go see what was happening.
...
Upon arriving at the greenhouse area of the lab, Sycamore and the group saw a Garchomp going out of control while some manner of device was on it. They saw the assistants Sophie and Cosette standing back with Froakie who was awake now, and a group of half a dozen Team Scorn members standing nearby in clear amusement. The reborn trainers instantly recognized Jessie from the formerly existing Team Rocket among that group as, although she wore the same uniform as any female Team Scorn grunt member, her hair was the same as always.
"So what Ash said is true!" Dawn yelled at Jessie, "You and your friends from Team Rocket DID end up joining Team Scorn!"
Upon hearing Dawn call out, Jessie turned to look in the direction the shout came from and, sure enough, spotted Dawn standing there with Ash, Kenny, Trip, Clemont, Bonnie, and Sycamore. Jessie went wide eyed with alarm upon seeing Dawn, as well as picking out Kenny and Trip in the group. "Drat, it's you brats from Sinnoh!" Jessie scowled, "Yeah, the gang here and I have to bail, like, now!"
"At least that Garchomp we worked up into a frenzy ought to be enough to distract them," one of the male Team Scorn grunts said, "That ought to-" That grunt was cut off when the Garchomp fired a Hyper Beam at a section of wall and then ran out, escaping from Sycamore's lab. The sounds of panicked and shouting townspeople could be heard from where everyone was still in the greenhouse area.
Gesturing forward, Dawn said, "We need to split up into two groups! One goes after the Garchomp, and the other goes after Jessie and her new friends!"
Nodding in agreement, Ash said, "Then I'll go after Je-"
"Froakie!" the Froakie cried out as it leapt away from Sophie and Cosette and went after the Garchomp.
"Ah, Froakie!" Ash cried out before he began to chase after it.
Sighing, Bonnie said, "I think he was going to be one of the ones to go after Team Scorn, but I guess he's going after Garchomp instead since Froakie's chasing after it."
"I'll go back up Ash," Dawn said, "Boys, you two try dealing with Team Scorn!" Trip and Kenny nodded in agreement before they ran after Jessie and her group, who all turned tail and fled. Clemont and Bonnie ended up running after Kenny and Trip as well, leaving Sycamore and his assistants to assess the damage that Team Scorn had done to the greenhouse area.
Out in the city, an Officer Jenny was directing traffic to have people evacuate from the area where the Garchomp was rampaging. Meanwhile, a news helicopter was flying around as the Garchomp was making its way up Prism Tower. After the Garchomp had reached the top of Prism Tower, the news helicopter flew around as it got some good shots of what was going on. "Folks, we're reporting live from here in Lumiose City where an enraged Garchomp is currently wreaking havoc in the city," the news reporter said, "There's no word yet why the Garchomp is rampaging, but we're getting word that the nefarious multi-region crime syndicate known at Team Scorn is responsible in some way!"
As the helicopter flew in place, Garchomp saw it and took aim before firing another Hyper Beam. However, Dawn called out, "Tsukune, counter the Hyper Beam with Flamethrower!" The Hyper Beam was interrupted in its path by a Flamethrower attack coming in from nowhere, making the two attacks blow up into one another as Dawn, on the back of her named Palkia, flew in and stayed close to the news helicopter. "You will probably want to get out of attack range!" Dawn shouted towards the news helicopter, "It's not safe right now!"
"I-Incredible, folks!" the reporter said as the helicopter got some distance away from the chaos, "Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz has just shown up and is helping to deal with the rampaging Garchomp! And what's this? A boy with a Charizard just landed on top of the Prism Tower and is preparing to face off more directly with Garchomp!" Dawn turned to see that Ash, with Charizard out and Pikachu and Froakie behind him, was facing off against the Garchomp on top of Prism Tower. As she kept flying in place to keep an eye on things, Dawn realized that as this all was being caught on live news, it was bound to get noticed by many viewers all over Kalos.
...
Over in Vaniville Town, Serena's mom was watching the news on TV, her eyes glued to the screen. "Hey Serena, you gotta come see this!" Serena's mom called out, "The Champion of Sinnoh is here in Kalos and she's helping to subdue a rampaging Garchomp! There's also a boy with a Charizard directly confronting the Garchomp right on top of Prism Tower!"
Serena came trotting down the stairs, having heard her mom mention that the Sinnoh Champion was on Kalos news live. Looking to the TV, Serena did indeed see Dawn on the news, and went wide eyed with surprise upon seeing her riding on the back of her Palkia. That's Dawn's legendary Pokémon, so seeing it live on the news was bound to be a noteworthy topic of discussion. But Serena saw something else, the boy on top of Prism Tower confronting the Garchomp with a Charizard. The boy also had a Pikachu and a Froakie, but they and the Charizard weren't what Serena was focusing on.
It was the boy himself. Serena recognized him remembered him. That boy was of greater note to Serena than even Dawn and Palkia. Serena's eyes widened as much as possible as she saw that boy on live Kalos news. "...Ash?"
...
Back in Lumiose City, Ash and his Charizard were confronting the rampaging Garchomp while Pikachu and Froakie stood by. Garchomp charged up and fired another Hyper Beam, to which Ash shouted, "Pikachu and Charizard, use Thunderbolt and Flamethrower to counter Garchomp's Hyper Beam!" Pikachu and Charizard fired their respective attacks to counter Garchomp's Hyper Beam, succeeding and making an explosion in the process. Garchomp cried out, sounding like it was in pain, as it began to stumble back, unknowingly threatening to fall off of Prism Tower.
Seeing this, Froakie took some of its frubbles and threw them at Garchomp's feet, making them stick to the surface and keeping Garchomp from stumbling backwards off of Prism Tower. As Garchomp was shaking off some stunned feeling, Ash and Pikachu ran in. They spotted the collar around Garchomp's neck, some manner of high tech device that was clearly the culprit behind making Garchomp go berserk-o freak-o. "Pikachu, break the collar off of Garchomp with Iron Tail!" Ash said, and in an instant Pikachu used Iron Tail, crushing the collar off completely.
With the collar off, Garchomp immediately came back to its senses. Ash then pocketed the collar pieces, a look of serious consideration on his face. "I'll turn this over to the authorities as evidence suggesting how Team Scorn sent Garchomp into a frenzy," Ash said to Pikachu. Turning to look at Garchomp, Ash asked, "Are you going to be okay now, Gar-"
"CHU!" Pikachu cried out when the area of the Prism Tower edge he stood on collapsed under him due to severely weakened structural integrity due to the battling just now.
"Pikachu!" Ash cried out. He then ran to jump off the edge of the tower in a desperate bid to save his Pikachu, shouting, "Charizard, I could use some help here!"
At that prompting, Charizard with Froakie hopping onto its shoulder jumped up and flew after Ash and Pikachu. Charizard and Froakie got Ash first by flying under him and letting him land on Charizard's back, then the three of them together flew after the falling Pikachu. As Ash, Froakie, and Charizard rushed after Pikachu, Dawn had Tsukune rush in as well, only to stop halfway when a mysterious Pokémon flew in, caught Pikachu, then landed back down on the ground safely. Dawn and Ash both landed and got off of their respective Pokémon to go up to what Dawn knew was a Mega Blaziken but didn't say she knew out loud.
After it handed Pikachu back over to Ash, the Mega Blaziken leapt away and joined a man dressed as a masked hero with a Mega Blaziken theme. It was as Ash and Dawn saw that man with the Mega Blaziken that Kenny, Trip, Clemont, and Bonnie came running in. "Hey, that was actually a Mega Blaziken just now," Clemont said as he and the others met up, "Good on it for saving Pikachu."
The news helicopter landed and the reporter and two crew members came out, rushing right over. "Champion Dawn!" the reporter said, "Can we get a word from you on your involvement in resolving the crisis here tonight?" A crowd of onlookers began to gather as the group was more or less surrounded by cheering townsfolk and news crew members. Dawn realized that her time in the Kalos region, even though it had literally just gotten started, was going to be quite the wild ride.
END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FOUR
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the beginning of the shenanigans in Kalos, where Dawn, Kenny, and Trip arrive to earn Kalos gym badges, fight off threats such as the native Team Scorn sector of Kalos, and meet up with Ash, which they do when they see him, Clemont, and Bonnie rush Froakie to Professor Sycamore's lab. The reborn trainers join Ash's new group, and together they get to Sycamore's place where Froakie is cared for and Dawn, Kenny, and Trip each get a different Kalos starter Pokémon. It's there that the reborn trainers learn, thanks to Ash, that the Team Rocket trio had joined Team Scorn, and Jessie shows up albeit without James and Meowth, then the chaos with the crazy Garchomp occurs.
Ash faces Garchomp as he normally does, but here Ash came to Kalos with his Charizard and Steelix in addition to Pikachu, so Charizard helps deal with Garchomp. Ash is able to bring Garchomp back to its senses, but Pikachu ends up falling off of Prism Tower, leading him to jump after Pikachu with help from Charizard and Froakie. Then a Mega Blaziken comes in, rescues Pikachu, and hands it over to Ash back down on the ground before leaping away as the rest of the group joins Ash and Dawn just in time to be swarmed by onlookers and the news.
Things will continue into the next chapter, including seeing Serena make moves to join up with the group. So don't adjust your set, because the Kalos crazies have just gotten started.
