Episode 82: Enter Casey the Electabuzz Kid
Shortly after the battles the new Trainers had, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Vincent, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Marill walked down the pathway in the forest from New Bark Town.
"Would be nice if I won it," Vincent groaned.
"Not this again, Vincent," Ethan groaned.
"Vincent, you should be taking your first loss lightly," Sora said.
"He's right. Sora and I lost before and we didn't take it too hard," Kairi said.
"Really?" Vincent asked in surprise.
"Yeah, it was against a Trainer named AJ, and he has a Sandshrew. And that was one of the toughest Sandshrew I ever saw," Sora said. "But the point is that you did your best, and that should matter."
Meanwhile, over to Team Rocket, they started to gather some berries in a huge basket.
"So many berries, so many berries!" Team Rocket sang.
"Oran Berries, Tamato Berries, Aspear Berries, Cheri Berries, Nanab Berries, Sitrus Berries! All the colors of the rainbow!" Jessie said.
"Leading right to a huge pot of gold," Meowth said.
"And right to a city of emeralds," James said.
"Once and for all, nothing's going to go wrong!" Team Rocket cheered.
Falling to the ground, there is a red, penguin-like Pokémon with a white, hollow tail. Its face and chest are covered in white feathers with two, three-pointed crests above its eyes. Black markings surround its circular eyes, and it has a light yellow beak and feet. There is a single white spot on its stomach. Its feet have two digits each.
"De, Deli!" The Pokémon said. They turned to see the Pokémon.
"What is that?" James asked.
"A bird version of Santa Claus, maybe?" Jessie guessed.
"No, it ain't! It's a Delibird!" Meowth confirmed.
"Delibird, Deli, Deli, Delibird, Deli," Delibird said.
"Oh no," Meowth winced.
"What did that Delibird say, Meowth?" Jessie asked.
"Delibird is saying that we have to pay what we owe," Meowth translated.
"How does it know about that?" Jessie asked. Delibird took out a button with a capital R on it. "That's Team Rocket's logo."
"That could only mean-" James said before Meowth finished.
"Delibird is a Team Rocket Pokémon!" Meowth concluded.
"Delibird, Delibird," Delibird said.
"Meowth?" James asked.
"Pay up now or else," Meowth translated.
"Or else what?" Jessie asked. Delibird took out a gift box and hands it to Jessie. "Oh, such a nice gift." James and Meowth exclaims with fright when they began to glow. The box explodes right in her face. It leaves Jessie covered in black marks. "What a lovely gift."
"Aah! That was Delibird's Present! It's Delibird's signature move!" Meowth said.
"Delibird, Deli, Deli," Delibird said, holding another gift box, knowing what will come next.
"Look, we're a little short! Can't you let this slide?" Meowth pleaded.
"Delibird," Delibird said, shaking its head.
"Why not?" Meowth asked. Delibird flew and took all the berries they worked so hard to pick.
"Delibird, Deli, Deli, Deli, Delibird," Delibird said.
"Delibird just said the only way we're going out of our debt is to pay everything we owe, and the berries we have are just as good as money," Meowth translated.
"In other words," Jessie said.
"We're paying for it one way or the other," James said.
Delibird flew up in the air.
"Looks like we're going have to get back to work," James said.
"You mean go back to swiping Pikachu from the twerp?" Meowth asked.
"That's a huge 10-4," James said.
"But the problem is where we start to look," Jessie said.
"Right," Meowth said.
"Just how did that Delibird know how to find us?" Jessie asked.
"I don't know. Delibird didn't say," Meowth said. "Before we get to getting Pikachu, we should focus on making some spending money, and money to pay our debts."
"And hopefully, we don't end up getting behind again," James said.
"Don't jinx it," Jessie said.
So, Team Rocket went back to their old ways. What kind of tricks will they be up to? Just wait and see later, but let's get back to the main story already in progress.
Over to the World That Never Was, Roxas is standing in the middle of an arena and he is surrounded by a squad of Nobodies. Some of the Nobodies are Dusks. Each of the others has a distinctive cylindrical head that is a darker shade of gray than most of the rest of its body. This head bears six diagonal slits on the front, three on each side. The majority of its body appears to be covered in a gray jumpsuit with bell sleeves and a lighter grey seam going down the front. Each sleeve has the Nobody emblem printed on them, and only its black hands are visible. The black, featureless, pointed feet of the creature sprouts out from each of the legs of the jumpsuit. There is also a dark gray belt-like pattern that wraps around its waist, though it does not seem to have a purpose. The (also gray) swords used by the Nobody are floating very close to it, either crossing behind its back or resting at either of its hips. The shape of certain parts of its body, particularly its legs, has a vague resemblance to the design of the Nobody symbol. These Nobodies are known as Samurais.
Roxas summoned his Kingdom Key and held it in his hands. One of the Samurai Nobodies came at him, so Roxas blocked with his Keyblade. Several more Samurai Nobodies came right at him again, but he jumped and swung his Keyblade at one of them, but another blocked his attack. One of the Dusks comes forward and attempts to smack him, but he dodges and he swings his Keyblade at the Dusk that tried to hit him.
Roxas fired his fire spell at the Nobodies, burning them. He then casts a thunder spell, striking them. He then casts his wind spell, hitting a tornado.
Xemnas Saïx, and Marluxia were watching him closely.
"He is approving with his magic," Xemnas said.
"Indeed," Saïx agreed. "His skills still need work."
"The Nobodies have done an excellent job sharpening his skills," Marluxia said.
Roxas has taken down a handful of Nobodies, but one of the Samurais takes him down and moves in to deliver the finishing blow. Xemnas raised his hand.
"Enough," Xemnas said. The Nobody stopped. "You have done well, Roxas, but you seemed rather distracted." Roxas said nothing to the Organization's leader.
"It's nothing, Xemnas," Roxas said.
"Do not lie to our leader, Roxas," Saïx said.
"It's not a lie," Roxas assured. Xemnas wasn't convinced.
"Are you certain, Roxas?" Xemnas asked. Roxas said nothing.
"Answer him, Roxas," Saïx ordered.
"It's not anything," Roxas defended. Xemnas wasn't still convinced.
"Leave us," Xemnas said. Roxas takes his leave, leaving the three Organization XIII members alone.
Over to Vexen in his lab, he was conducting his own experiments. He was creating some replicas of Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
"Excellent. These Pokémon replicas are going to serve the Organization well," Vexen said. He chuckled to himself. Just then, some Nobodies appeared before Vexen. They resembled knights wearing white armor. They have gray elbows and knees. They each have a large shield on their right arm with the Nobody symbol on the shields. They also have the Nobody symbols on their chests. The helmets on their heads have some belts crossed in an X. These Nobodies are known as Protectors. "Good of you to come. At least there are individuals that I can rely on, unlike the imbeciles I'm forced to work with.
Meanwhile, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Vincent, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Marill saw a girl with purple hair and wearing a yellow jacket with black stripes and a white baseball cap also with black stripes and a yellow lightning bolt. She holds a yellow baseball bat with yellow stripes. She wore a teal shirt and white shorts. She has a Chikorita and is wearing a yellow and black striped bandana on its head.
"And up to bat is the crowd's favorite hard hitter, Chikorita!" The girl announced as Chikorita spins the leaf on its head. Sora takes out his Pokédex to get information on the Chikorita in front of them.
Chikorita, the Leaf Pokémon
Type: Grass
In battle, Chikorita waves its leaf around to keep the foe at bay. However, a sweet fragrance also wafts from the leaf, becalming the battling Pokémon and creating a cozy, friendly atmosphere all around.
"That headband makes that Chikorita look really sporty," Lyra said.
"Let's see how well she handles it," Sora said putting his Pokédex away.
A Rattata jumps out of the bushes ready to attack Chikorita.
"Just entering the field is Rattata! And Chikorita will knock it out of the park!" The girl announced. "Play ball!" She pointed her bat at the wild Pokémon. "Chikorita starts up with a Tackle attack!" Chikorita charges towards the wild Rattata only to miss. "Chikorita slides on the dirt, but Chikorita is just warming up! Go!" Chikorita lands another Tackle; this time it hits. Rattata falls to the ground dazed. She takes out a Pokéball. "Perfect! Chikorita has landed a home run! This game is over!" She threw it like it was a baseball sending Rattata inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and stars swirls around the Pokéball confirming the catch. "And Team Casey has won the game! And Chikorita is MVP!"
"Chiko!" Chokirita chirped.
"It's time to celebrate with the Team Electabuzz theme song!" The girl announced. The girl began singing a song.
(Girl)
We all love Electabuzz no other teams are the same!
The players charge the field and electrify the game!
The pitch and catch and run so quick, their baseball bats are thundersticks!
"Chikorita return!" The girl said before turning around and glares at the group. Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, and Vincent all winced as she began charging in a furious yell.
"Hey! Take it easy!" Sora shouted. She skids to a stop when she gazes at Pikachu.
"I don't believe it! A Pikachu! Yay! Yay!" The girl takes Pikachu off his shoulders and cuddles the Mouse Pokémon. "Your Pikachu has such a shiny coat."
"I'd be careful if I were you because Pikachu is a really high voltage," Sora warned her.
"You think Pikachu will really shock me? That's really cool! Come on, Pikachu! Gimmie a taste! Come on! Turn up the juice!" The girl said.
"Pika..." Pikachu said.
"Don't even do it, Pikachu! She doesn't know what she's getting herself into!" Sora said.
"Come on, you little rat! Gimmie a jolt!" The girl shouted. Pikachu started to build up even more juice.
"No, Pikachu! Don't do i-!" Sora shouted as both he and the girl both got shocked. They both screamed being electrocuted.
"Bad idea," the girl said in a daze.
"Tried to warn you," Sora said in a daze.
"Thanks a lot," the girl said.
"You're welcome," Sora said before both she and Sora fell to the ground. Kairi ran to her boyfriend concerned.
"Are you okay?" Kairi asked with concern.
"I'm fine," Sora answered.
Both Sora and the girl recovered from Pikachu's shock. She looks over to Sora.
"Sorry about that," she apologized. "I should have listened."
"Don't worry about it," Sora said. "I'm used to the shocks."
"Anyway, my name is Casey, and I'm a huge Pokémon Baseball fan," she introduced herself.
"And what gave that away?" Vincent asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"Be nice, Vincent," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Well anyway, my name is Sora Ketchum and I came from Pallet Town. And this is my girlfriend Kairi, and her Eevee Angel," Sora introduced.
"Hello," Kairi said.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"My name's Ethan," Ethan introduced himself.
"My name's Kris," Kris introduced.
"I'm Lyra and this is Marill," Lyra introduced.
"The name's Vincent," Vincent finished.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance," Casey said taking off her baseball cap and bowing her head. "I'm just crazy yellow Pokémon! Especially when they're stripped. The Pokémon that I really want is an Electabuzz. I plan on having a dream team of all-striped yellow Pokémon!"
"Why are you into yellow striped Pokémon so much?" Sora asked the girl.
"Because my family has been rooting for the Electabuzz for three generations," Casey said.
"As in the Electabuzz Pokémon Baseball team?" Sora asked.
"That's right," Casey nodded.
"I thought that theme song sounded familiar," Sora said.
"That explains why you're so full of energy," Ethan said.
"But, don't they all finish in last place?" Vincent asked, offending Casey.
"Vincent!" Kris chided him.
"This season is gonna be different! This is when they're gonna win the series!" Casey stated.
"No way! They all get creamed by the Starmie and Magikarp teams!" Vincent said. Sora and Kairi saw how angry she was getting.
"Vincent, shut up!" Lyra said.
"You take that back! You quit bad-mouthing the Electabuzz! They're gonna beat everybody!" Casey hissed.
"They couldn't even beat an egg," Vincent said.
"You better shut your mouth or will shut it for you!" Casey said.
"I was just being honest!" Vincent defended. "Besides they suck!" This offends Casey even more.
"Why you!" Casey hissed, getting right at Vincent, but Sora stepped in and stopped it from going too far.
"Okay, break it up, kids or you're both getting a timeout," Sora said, breaking Vincent and Casey up. Sora turned to Vincent with a stern glare in his eyes. "You should really think before you speak!" Sora stated.
"I said I was being honest! That's all I said! Next thing you know, she'll say something about the heavy hitters on the Electabuzz team, but I would have responded with I've seen better swings in a playground!" Vincent said making Casey growl at his statement.
"THAT'S IT! NOBODY INSULTS MY FAVORITE BASEBALL TEAM AND GETS AWAY WITH IT! NOBODY! I WILL TAKE ANY INSULT FROM ANYONE WHO KNOWS ZERO ABOUT BASEBALL, AND LESS ABOUT POKÉMON! WE ARE GOING TO SETTLE THIS WITH A POKÉMON BATTLE!" Casey yelled. Vincent started to growled in anger.
"YOU THINK SO, HUH?! OKAY, I'LL TAKE YOU ON!" Vincent yelled.
"Is Vincent always like this?" Sora asked.
"Unfortunately, yes," Ethan, Kris, and Lyra replied.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Well, at least we know Casey is like this," Sora said.
"Sora, what do you know about the Electabuzz Pokémon Baseball team?" Kairi asked.
"I'm not exactly sure, but they had a really bad losing streak for a few years, but the owner of the Electabuzz team fired the coach and hired a new one just recently," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"You think they will make a winning streak?" Kairi asked.
"Let's see if the new coach does a better job than the last guy," Sora said.
Vincent and Casey got into position for their battle.
"You're going to pay for insulting the Electabuzz team, and I'm going to avenge their honor by taking you down!" Casey said.
"How do you want to do this?" Vincent asked.
"All of my Pokémon against whatever you got!" Casey said.
"You're on!" Vincent said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. His Pokéball opened and his Chikorita came right out. Chikorita spins its leaf around.
"Chiko!" Chikorita said. Casey took out a Pokéball and readied to throw it.
"Pidgey! Go!" Casey called out. Pidgey came right out to battle against Chikorita. "And Pidgey is first to step up to bat! Tackle!" Pidgey flew right at the Leaf Pokémon.
"Chikorita! Dodge and use Tackle!" Vincent ordered. Chikorita dodges and lands a tackle onto Pidgey.
"Use Sand-Attack!" Casey ordered. Pidgey flapped its wings and kicked up some sand at it. Chikorita is struck by the sand.
"That cuts Chikorita's accuracy down," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Use Tackle!" Casey ordered. Pidgey flew at Chikorita, dealing some damage.
"Use Vine Whip!" Vincent ordered. Chikorita extends its vines at Pidgey, dealing some damage. "Use Tackle!" Chikorita charged at the Tiny Bird Pokémon, dealing some extra damage. "Use Razor Leaf!" Chikorita fired Razor Leaf at Pidgey, hitting it. Pidgey was taken down. Casey called back Pidgey and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up to bat, Rattata!" Casey called out. His Pokéball opened and Rattata came right out to battle against Chikorita. "Use Tackle!" Rattata charges right Chikorita.
"Dodge and use Tackle!" Vincent ordered. Chikorita dodges Rattata's attack and charges at Rattata, ramming into the Mouse Pokémon.
"Rattata! Tackle!" Casey ordered. Rattata ran towards Chikorita with Tackle.
"Use Tackle!" Vincent ordered. Chikorita charges at Rattata, hitting each other. Rattata has taken some more damage than Chikorita did. "Use Razor Leaf!" Chikorita fired Razor Leaf, landing another hit. It resulted in a knockout. Casey called back her Rattata and took out her third Pokéball and threw it.
"Take the plate, Chikorita!" Casey called out. Casey's Chikorita came right out to battle against Vincent's Chikorita. "Chikorita! Use Tackle!" Casey's Chikorita charged right at Vincent's Chikorita and lands a hit.
"Use Tackle!" Vincent ordered. Vincent's Chikorita and lands a hit onto Casey's Chikorita. "Vine Whip!"
"You show that wannabe a real Vine Whip!" Casey ordered.
Both Chikorita smacked each other with Vine Whip. They kept on smacking at each other for a few minutes.
"Tackle!" Vincent and Casey ordered. Both Chikorita charges at each other, landing a hit. Both Chikorita got back up and glared at each other. "Razor Leaf!" Both Chikorita, collide with each other. The leaves cuts each other in half.
"They look like they're evenly matched," Kairi said.
"Vincent won't think it," Ethan said. Sora and Kairi looked at him.
"Why not?" Kairi asked.
"Vincent wasn't always good at admitting defeat, but he tries really hard," Ethan said.
"Aren't you worried that he'll just get carried away?" Sora asked.
"Kinda, but he bounces back," Ethan said. "That's the benefit that comes with being Vincent."
"Chikorita! Use Razor Leaf!" Casey ordered. Casey's Chikorita fired Razor Leaf right at Vincent's Chikorita.
"Use Vine Whip!" Vincent ordered. Vincent's Chikorita uses Vine Whip to smack the leaves and then uses the vines to smack Casey's Chikorita. "Use Tackle!" Vincent's Chikorita charges at Casey's Chikorita, landing a critical hit. Casey's Chikorita has been taken down.
"Wha?!" Casey exclaimed in shock while Vincent cheered triumphantly.
"Hooray! I win! I win! My very first win!" Vincent cheered. He laughed. Casey was distraught about her loss. She sadly calls back her Chikorita.
"A sad day for the Electabuzz team," Casey said. Sora felt sorry for Casey and he tries to comfort her.
"Don't let it get you down, Casey. You did your best," Sora said.
"Leave me alone!" Casey yelled as she ran off, crying.
"Casey, wait!" Sora called out, but she kept on running. He turned to Vincent and shook his head. "Nice going."
"What? I was only being honest with my opinion," Vincent defended.
"There is such a thing as being too honest," Sora said.
"Especially when they hurt their feelings," Kairi added.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"They're right, Vincent. You should have chosen your words carefully before you open your mouth," Ethan said.
"We're going to find Casey and bring her right back just so you can apologize to her," Sora said.
"Hey, why should I apologize to her?" Casey asked.
"Because you were insensitive," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill agreed.
"What? All I said they weren't any good at Pokémon Baseba-" Vincent paused when he realized how hurtful it sounded to Casey. "Oh..."
"That's right," Sora said, crossing his arms.
Over to Casey, she ran through the forest, crying her eyes out.
"After everything my family told me, how will I face them again?" Casey asked herself, tripping over a rock. She cried heavily. "Daddy, grandpa, your girl's a loser."
(Flashback)
We have a look in New Bark Town where Casey is standing before her family right before she has retrieved her Chikorita and set off on her own Pokémon journey.
"For many generations, this family has had a proud tradition of cheering only for our heroes, the Electabuzz, but now, Casey, we have a new hero to root for, and that hero is you," Casey's father said.
"We're mighty proud of you, Casey. You're the first member of this family to ever become a Pokémon Trainer; so take a lesson from the Electabuzz, they never give up, and neither should you," Casey's grandfather said.
"Keep trying your best and we'll never give up on you either," Casey's father said.
"We'll be rooting for the Electabuzz and for you too," Casey's grandfather said.
"I'll make you all proud of me no matter what happens; I'll never quit!" Casey stated.
"Casey, Casey! She's our girl, and the best Pokémon Trainer in the whole wide world!" Casey's family cheered.
(Flashback ends)
Casey regains her confidence and became even more determined than ever.
"Well, win or lose, I will make them all proud of me! The Electabuzz don't give up, and I won't either!" Casey said, getting up. "I'll keep trying! I'll just keep trying just as hard as the Electabuzz do, and nothing is going to stop me! I made a promise to my family and I'm gonna keep it!"
"Well, look who's regained her fire," a familiar voice spoke. Casey turned to see Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi standing right behind her. "Never give up!"
"How long have you been there?" Casey asked.
"Long enough," Kairi said.
"I understand where you were coming from, Casey," Sora said. "I would feel the same way if someone just insulted my family's legacy." Casey just looked at Sora with a puzzling expression.
"What do you mean by that?" Casey asked.
"Sora came from a long line of knights in the old days," Kairi said.
"Knights? Really?" Casey asked at awe.
"Yeah. My necklace is the symbol of my ancestors legacy," Sora said, placing his hand on his necklace. "The boys in the family were viewed as knights by the people when wearing one of these." Casey was impressed.
"Wow, that's cool," Casey said. "I never would have figured you for a knight, Sora."
"You would think that," Sora said. "We came here to look for you and have Vincent apologize to you." Casey grits her teeth when he mentioned him.
"Why should I hear what he has to say after he made fun of the Electabuzz?" Casey asked, angered.
"I don't blame you for what he said, but he's willing to make it up to you," Sora said.
"We'll understand if you won't forgive him either," Kairi said. Casey didn't know if she should hear him out, but she had to give him a chance.
They returned to Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Vincent, and Marill, waiting for them.
"I think someone has something he wants to say," Kris said. Vincent stepped forward to Casey.
"I'm sorry for saying what I said. I was being a total jerk, and I didn't consider your feelings. And I won't blame you if you won't accept my apology, but I can admit you're a skillful Trainer even though you're just getting started," Vincent said. Casey looked at him and she smiled.
"I'm sorry too. I overreacted when I shouldn't have. I get sensitive when someone makes fun of my favorite baseball team," Casey said.
"It's cool," Vincent said. "I'll be sure to cool it." He held out his hand. "Let's bury the hatchet and start over?" Casey took his hand and shook it.
"And that's a grand slam," Casey said.
Now that Vincent and Casey have made up, two new Trainers learned a lesson of friendship between two Trainers can be established even after one loss. Sora and Kairi could benefit from that lesson as well when we go on further.
