Episode 84: Roll On, Pokémon
A few days passed since Sora has added Heracross to his team. It was back to business as usual. They kept their eyes opened for any signs of the Heartless or the white creatures that attacked them before.
"Not seeing any Heartless here," Sora said.
"Or Team Rocket or those white monsters, so that's gotta be a good sign," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"I hope we can keep it that way for a while, but for how long?" Sora asked.
"Hopefully long enough, but we'll never know," Kairi said. The couple made a stop to rest for a bit.
"How about I make a meal for us this time, Sora? I can make you that soup you love so much," Kairi said. Sora's lit up when he hears what she'll make.
"Yummy!" Sora said.
A little while later Sora and Kairi have let out Teddiursa, Phanpy, Heracross, and Hoppip as they can enjoy the meal provided to them. Kairi has presented The Singlehorn Pokémon a bowl of sap, remembering that tree sap is Heracross's favorite meal.
"Here you go, Heracross. Some delicious tree sap for you," Kairi said. Heracross greedily feasts on the sap provided by his Trainer's girlfriend. Kairi beamed, seeing Heracross enjoy the sap so much.
The couple ate their meal with bliss when they heard a sound not from too far away.
"Did you hear that, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"It sounded very close," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
The rumbling grew louder and louder with each second. The couple and the Pokémon went to investigate the source of the sound and they gasped when they saw it was a rock slide.
"That explains a whole lot," Sora said.
"Pi, Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It's a good thing we didn't come this way because it wouldn't have been pretty for us," Kairi said.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"I think we should find a way to go around after we get done eating," Kairi said.
"Good idea. I don't wanna get caught in that rock slide," Sora said.
In the canyon, Team Rocket are strolling through the canyon, and they narrowly avoid the falling rocks.
"That was very close," Meowth said.
"I starting to think Meowth's plan wasn't such a good idea," James said.
"Ha! A couple of little rocks won't stop us, so keep 'em coming!" Jessie said. It felt like she tempted fate because a much bigger rock comes right at them. They're struck by the falling rock, and they fell down screaming.
"Somewhere, I know the cosmos are laughing at us because the cosmos hates us," James said. Jessie and Meowth groaned in pain.
Back with Sora, Kairi, and the Pokémon, they hear something rustling in the bushes.
"Pikachu?" Pikachu asked.
"Eevee?" Angel asked.
"You hear that, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"I did. It sounded really close," Sora said.
The couple and their Pokémon went to investigate the source of the sound, and they stopped when the sound grew louder the further they went. Sora and Kairi saw a gray, elephant-like Pokémon with a thick, black band of hide running down the length of its back and extending to the tip of its long trunk. When this Pokémon curls up, the band resembles a car tire. This tough hide prevents regular attacks from inflicting even a scratch. A pair of small white tusks. It has thin, elongated ears held out almost perpendicular to its body. Its four short legs are each encircled with a broken, black band and have three toes.
"It's a Pokémon," Kairi said.
"Let's see what kind it is," Sora said, taking out his Pokédex and scanning it. The Pokémon on his Pokédex has larger tusks than the one they're seeing.
Donphan, the Armor Pokémon
The evolved form of Phanpy
Type: Ground
If Donphan were to tackle with its hard body, even a house could be destroyed. Using its massive strength, the Pokémon helps clear rock and mudslides that block mountain trails.
"Wow, so that's what Phanpy evolves into," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away.
"Look at those tusks. That must be a girl, and the one on your Pokédex is a boy," Kairi pointed out.
"Maybe. I think we should get a move on because we don't want to bother her," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu agreed.
"Ee," Angel said.
"Pi," Togepi chirped.
Just when they were taking off, the Donphan saw the couple and their Pokémon.
"Uh-oh," Sora said. The Donphan came after them. They all dodged the Pokémon's attack. The Donphan curled into a ball and rolled right at them.
"She's using Rollout!" Kairi exclaimed.
"Duck!" Sora yelled. They ducked their heads down as Donphan came and rolled above them. "That was close."
"Here she comes again!" Kairi yelped. The Donphan came at them again, but Heracross charged at the female Donphan with a Horn Attack and blocked her completely.
"Good work, Heracross," Sora said. Donphan came running at them again. "Use Arm Thrust!" Heracross's hands glows multiple shades of blue and it strikes the Armor Pokémon with one of them. Heracross lands four hits on her. "Great. Now to get out of here before she ge-" They were cut off when they saw three Donphan cutting off their retreat. "Uh-oh."
"Donphan!" A girl's voice shouted. They saw a young woman in a dress that resembles one in ancient times and wore an orange bandana on her head. She also wore a necklace with some sort of stone. "Are you alright?" Donphan responded in pain. She smiled and then turned serious. "What do you think you're doing, trying to steal one of my Donphan? I should turn you both over to Officer Jenny!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! It's not like that! That Donphan attacked us, so we were only defending ourselves!" Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"He's telling the truth," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"We only saw her eating and we were about to leave her be, but she spotted us and attacked us," Kairi said.
"Trust me, we weren't planning on stealing anybody's Pokémon, I swear," Sora said. The young woman looked at them and she could see they didn't look bad.
"You look like you didn't know, so I guess I can forgive you, and this little one has an act of attacking first," the young woman said. She spots Phanpy with the couple. "Whose Phanpy is that, may I ask?"
"Phanpy's mine, actually," Sora said.
"Phanpy, Phanpy," Phanpy said.
"And how long did you have that Phanpy?" The young woman asked.
"Just for a few days," Sora replied. "Why?"
"I was just asking because I saw the two of you so close already. And I'm sorry for accusing you of trying to catch one of my Donphan. My name is Rochelle, by the way," the young woman introduced herself.
"I'm Sora, and this is my girlfriend Kairi," Sora introduced.
"Nice to meet you," Kairi said.
"Pika, Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Nice to meet you as well. Since you're passing by, I will ask you that you don't try to catch any of the Donphan here, because they all belong to me," Rochelle requested.
"Not a problem. But can I ask why?" Sora asked.
"That's because I'm training all of my Donphan to search for some amberite," Rochelle explained.
"Amberite?" Sora asked.
"What's that?" Kairi asked.
"Amberite is a gemstone. Back in the old days, amberite was just as precious as gold and silver. It was worn by royalty and nobility. In fact, my necklace is made from amberite, right here," Rochelle explained, showing the couple the amberite.
"So pretty," Kairi said. Sora looked at Kairi.
"Not as pretty as you," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Now if you excuse me, I need to take this little one with me to search for amberite, and again, don't try to catch any of the Donphan here," Rochelle said.
"Not a problem," Sora said.
"We'll be on our way out soon, Rochelle," Kairi said.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket are dressed up as forest rangers, disguising themselves to avoid drawing attention to themselves. Jessie climbs up on a small hill.
"I've got things covered down here, Jessie," James said.
"I'm on patrol up here," Jessie said.
They looked around them again and again.
"A-okay!" Jessie and James both said at once. Meowth jumped in front of them.
"Pipe down, will ya?! You'll wreck everything!" Meowth exclaimed.
"What gives, Meowth?" James asked.
"What's with you, Meowth?" Jessie asked, jumping off the hill. Meowth sighed.
"Whoever said that humans are the most intelligent creatures obviously never met these two," Meowth said. "We're wearing these forest ranger get-ups just so we can dig up for that amberite and nobody will get suspicious. And if we find enough of it, not only we'll be rich, but we won't have to worry about paying off our debts." Jessie and James both beamed as their eyes sparkled.
"It's so valuable!" James said.
"And it's so beautiful!" Jessie added. "A gemstone so dazzlingly exquisite, it's fit for a queen!" Jessie laughed with content. James chuckled.
"Sounds good to me," James said.
"That is if we get enough of the stuff," Meowth said.
"Alright, let's find that amberite and get rich quick!" Jessie said.
"Where do we start digging, Meowth?" James asked.
"We're in luck because I guarantee there's one way to find amberite. I overheard talking about the secret," Meowth said.
(Flashback)
We have a look at earlier today, as Jessie and James were taking a nap and Meowth was eating some pancake balls.
"It was back at that rest stop when the two of you were sleeping like a couple of Snorlax," Meowth narrated.
Two men sat behind them. One opens his briefcase and shows him some amberite to him.
"Hey, that looks like amberite," one of the men said.
"That's exactly what it is. I got all these samples from a Donphan Trainer who lives down in the valley. The only way to find top-quality amberite is to have a Donphan sniff it out," the other man explained.
"Wish I had one," the first man said.
"Having a Donphan is like having a gold mine," the second man said.
Meowth grinned as he listened. He chuckled to himself, putting a plan together.
(Flashback ends)
"All we gotta do now is snoop around this valley until we find one of them Donphan," Meowth said.
"And then what?" Jessie and James asked.
"Then it leads us to the amberite and we're living on Easy Street," Meowth said.
"Easy Street, here we come!" Jessie and James both cheered.
Meanwhile, Rochelle and the young Donphan have found a spot by the river.
"Ready to try, Donphan?" Rochelle asked. Donphan nodded. She holds up the amberite. "Okay, this is amberite. Give it a good sniff." Donphan sniffs the amberite, but they're interrupted by fireworks. They're startled by the sound they gave off. They turned to see Team Rocket laughing.
"We just found ourselves a Donphan! This is a course for celebration," Meowth said.
"Let's celebrate with some fireworks!" James said, setting off the fireworks.
"Let's see if this fire works," Jessie said, holding a bazooka. She fired it, releasing a net, encasing Donphan in it, much to Rochelle's dismay.
"Donphan!" Rochelle gasped.
Team Rocket laughed with success.
"We'll real good care of her," Meowth said. Rochelle gasped in horror as she watches them float away in their balloon.
Meanwhile, Riku, Naminé, and Eevee have arrived in the Johto region. He figured Sora will need help in dealing with the Heartless. So far, things have been quiet, which was disturbing for Riku. Naminé was quick to notice.
"Is something the matter, Riku?" Naminé asked.
"Doesn't it seem rather quiet for you, Naminé?" Riku asked. Naminé looked at him funny.
"What do you mean?" Naminé asked.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"What I mean is, we haven't seen a single Heartless since we got here, and I find it to be a bit troubling," Riku stated. "I mean, I have the powers of both light and darkness, and I can sense them here, but they haven't shown themselves even once."
"Maybe they're just being cautious," Naminé guessed.
"That would require for them to be smart, but they don't seem to think like we can and like Pokémon can because they just act out of instinct. Something is definitely up," Riku said.
"You don't know how right you are," a voice spoke. Riku summoned his Soul Eater and held it tight in his hand.
"Who's there?!" Riku exclaimed. Just then, a bunch of Dusks appeared, so Riku held his arm in front of Naminé.
"Get somewhere safe, Naminé!" Riku said.
"Okay!" Naminé said, running for a safe spot. The Dusks came at Riku, so he swings at them. A Dusk came right behind him, so Eevee fired a Shadow Ball at the Dusk, destroying it. A handful of Creepers came into the fray and he slashed through them like a knife through butter. The Dusks came at Riku again, so he slashed through them, destroying the white monsters. A Dusk comes for Naminé, much to her horror. "Riku!"
Hearing her, he turned around and he saw the Dusk.
"Get away from my girl!" Riku yelled, slashing the Dusk. He summoned his Braveheart and he uses his two weapons to slash through the Nobodies. Riku and Eevee have destroyed the Nobodies completely. He dismissed his weapons once they were all dealt with. He turned to Naminé as he panted. "Are you alright, Naminé? They didn't hurt you, did they?"
"I'm fine, Riku," Naminé assured her boyfriend. Riku hugged her close. She hugs him back. "Just, what were those things?"
"I don't know. They didn't look like any Heartless I have ever seen," Riku said.
"That's because they're not Heartless at all," a familiar voice spoke. Riku, Naminé, and Eevee turned to see Flora in front of them.
"Flora? What are you doing here?" Riku asked.
"I came to tell you about the Nobodies," Flora said. Riku and Naminé were a tad confused.
"Nobodies?" Naminé asked.
"The creatures you just saw Riku fight. They're half of a person with a strong heart," Flora said.
"What do you mean by that?" Riku asked.
"You see, when a person with a strong heart is turned into a Heartless, a Nobody is created in the process. Unlike a Heartless, a Nobody can think and plan," Flora explained.
"You think Sora and Kairi had a run-in with them?" Naminé asked.
"I don't know, I'm afraid, but they'll be coming for you again," Flora said.
"We can handle them," Riku said.
"I hope so, because Organization XIII won't be pulling their punches with you, Sora, or Kairi," Flora said.
"Organization XIII?" Naminé asked.
"They're Nobodies that retained their human forms. And they're more powerful than the ones you saw, and Team Rocket. In fact, they were the ones who sent them after you," Flora said.
"What do they want?" Riku asked.
"I don't know. I only came here to warn you to keep your guard up," Flora said.
"We will," Riku said. Flora the. smiled and vanishes in a white light. Riku turned to his girlfriend. "We gotta find Sora and Kairi, and warn them about the Nobodies and Organization XIII."
"We should, but we don't know where to start," Naminé pointed out.
"Our best bet is to head for Violet City, because that's where Sora will be heading first. Let's just hope we're not late for the party," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee agreed.
"Let's go," Naminé said.
With that said, Riku, Naminé, and Eevee have set off to find Sora and Kairi and to warn them about Organization XIII and the Nobodies.
Over to Team Rocket, they smile among themselves as they managed to succeed for a change. Meowth laughed.
"It feels so good when something goes 100% according to plan, doesn't it?" Meowth asked.
"It sure does," Jessie agreed, taking out a fan with the Team Rocket logo on the front. "And we owe this success to our favorite Pokémon, Meowth!" James looked at her as she waved it. She chuckled. "You're a genius, Meowth."
"What's with the fan?" James asked.
"It's freaking hot here," Jessie replied. Meowth approaches the elephant-like Pokémon with a grin.
"Hello, little Donphan. Let's get this show on the road," Meowth said. "Start digging for that amberite." Donphan just shook her head. Jessie growled in anger.
"You find those stones right now, or I'll peck you up in that trunk, you punk!" Jessie threatened.
"Hold on, Jess, threatening a Pokémon isn't a way to get rich. Perhaps we coddle her with kindness, she'll lead us to that amberite in no time flat," James said. He presented her a huge pile of bushes for Donphan to eat. "Here you go, Donphan. Some yummy shrubs for you to chow down on." Donphan starts scarfing down the bushes. "See? What did I tell you?"
Meanwhile, Rochelle is searching for her missing Donphan through the valley.
"Hello? Can you hear me, sweetie? Please come back!" Rochelle called out. Luckily, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi were in the area, and they heard her voice. The couple knew something was very wrong.
"Rochelle?" Kairi asked. Rochelle saw the couple.
"Sora, Kairi?" Rochelle asked.
"What's the matter, Rochelle?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"You didn't see anybody in orange jumpsuits, did you?" Rochelle asked with concern.
"No, we didn't," Sora answered.
"Tell me if you do, because they took my Donphan," Rochelle said. Sora knew it had Team Rocket's stink all over it, but he had to make sure it really was them.
"Did you happen to get a very good look at them?" Sora asked.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It was one guy, one girl, and one talking Meowth," Rochelle said. Sora growled did a face palm.
"I knew it, it's those morons again," Sora said in annoyance."
"Chu," Pikachu said, sharing Sora's annoyance. Rochelle was a bit confused by Sora's statement.
"Morons?" Rochelle asked.
"It's Team Rocket. They're always stealing other people's Pokémon. It's unforgivable that they think they can do such a thing," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Togepi," Togepi chirped.
"Rochelle, we'll get your Donphan back," Kairi said.
"Thank you very much," Rochelle said.
Back to Team Rocket, Donphan is still eating the shrubs, but Jessie was getting impatient.
"Is that Donphan going to keep eating like a Munchlax all day?" Jessie asked in annoyance.
"She's almost done, Jess. Once she's done eating, we can start looking for that amberite!" James said. Donphan stopped eating and sniffed around. "And speak of the devil! She's on the trail already!" James grabbed a pick, and Jessie grabbed a shovel. Team Rocket followed the young armor Pokémon with glee on their faces.
"Get ready, you guys! Where she stops, we start digging," Meowth said.
"We may get a little dirty digging, Jessie," James said.
"But we'll all be filthy rich," Jessie said.
Donphan made her stop.
"She found the perfect spot!" James said.
"The faster we dig, the sooner we can clean up!" Meowth exclaimed. Team Rocket started to dig fast.
"It won't be long now," James said, digging.
"Till we've hit pay dirt!" Jessie said, also digging. Donphan watches Team Rocket digging in the soil, much to her wonder.
Back with Sora, Kairi, and the Pokémon, Sora has sent out Hoothoot to search for any signs of Team Rocket, but unfortunately, he was having a real hard time doing so because of there were too much trees, and it was too bright for the Shiny Owl Pokémon.
"So much for my idea," Sora said. Hoothoot returned to Sora and perched on his shoulder like a parrot. "Nice try, Hoothoot."
"Hoothoot," Hoothoot said.
"Hoothoot are nocturnal Pokémon, so that had to be why he had a hard time seeing anything so well," Kairi said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"There has to be a way to find Donphan," Kairi said. Rochelle took out a whistle and blew on it. It became silent once she stopped blowing on it. They heard the sound of rumbling coming towards them. The rumbling grew louder in each passing second, and the source of the rumbling is a herd of Donphan.
"Whoa! Her herd heard!" Sora exclaimed.
"Good work, you got here fast," Rochelle said.
"Are these your Donphan, too, Rochelle?" Kairi asked.
"They are. I've trained them all to answer to this whistle," Rochelle said.
"Wow, that is cool. But why hasn't the lost Donphan come back?" Sora asked.
"Unfortunately, the one Team Rocket took is the youngest Donphan. She wasn't trained to answer to the whistle yet, unlike the others," Rochelle said. She turned to the herd. "Alright, go out there and find our little sister." The rest of the Donphan nodded and went on ahead. The humans and Pokémon followed.
Back with Team Rocket, they dug in different places, and they didn't find so much as one pebble of amberite.
"I think we've dug ourselves into another hole, and there's no amberite in it," James said.
"Maybe something is wrong with Donphan's sniffer," Meowth groaned. James stood up.
"Please find us some amberite. I know that nose knows where it is," James said. Donphan tried again and she sniffed something. "Look! Donphan's got a whiff of something!"
Coming their way is her herd. They stop right in front of Team Rocket.
"More Donphan!" Jessie said.
"Oh no. They must be her buddies," Meowth said.
"Well, what are we gonna do now?" James asked.
"There they are!" Sora said. Team Rocket saw them coming. "You guys are real gluttons for punishment, you know that?"
"Prepare for trouble, we'll be giving out the punishment," Jessie said.
"Make it double, like the government," James added.
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight for amberite!"
"Meowth! That's right!"
"Mime, Mime, Mime!" Mime Jr finished.
"Look, we all know how it'll turn out, so just be smart for once for your lives and hand Donphan over here," Kairi said.
"Uh, we ain't handing Donphan over to anybody; not until she finds us some amberite," Meowth said.
"Why not?" Kairi asked.
"They must have taken Donphan because they heard Donphan can be trained to find amberite," Rochelle said.
"I say we get rid of these pests and find that amberite!" Meowth said. Jessie and James each took out a Pokéball.
"Right! Victreebel, go right in!" James called out.
"Get in there and battle, Arbok!" Jessie called out.
Arbok and Victreebel both cane right out to battle against the good guys, but Victreebel chomps onto James's head once again.
"How many times do I have to tell you, you're on my side, remember?!" James exclaimed as he ran. Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Heracross!" Sora called out.
"Hoppip! Hop to it!" Kairi called out.
Heracross and Hoppip both emerged from inside to battle against Team Rocket. Team Rocket just laughed at the Pokémon they have battling them.
"Look at this. A Hoppip and a Heracross. They're going to lose big," James said.
"Let's whack that weed and squish that bug," Jessie said.
"Right. Victreebel! Use Leaf Blade on that pipsqueak!" James ordered. Victreebel came at Hoppip with Leaf Blade.
"Hoppip! Use Bounce!" Kairi ordered. Hoppip jumped in the air before Victreebel got close and lands right on Victreebel like the Fly Catcher Pokémon was a trampoline. "Switch to Bullet Seed!" Hoppip fired seeds from her mouth, hitting Victreebel hard. Victreebel lands right on James and Meowth.
"Don't squish me! Squish the twerps!" James exclaimed.
"Get off of me!" Meowth yelled.
"Arbok! Use Wrap on that Heracross now!" Jessie ordered. Arbok heads right at Heracross with intense speed.
"Use Arm Thrust!" Sora ordered. Heracross came at Arbok with Arm Thrust, giving the Cobra Pokémon a couple of hits. "Use Horn Attack!" Heracross horns right in with Horn Attack, sending Arbok right back at Jessie.
"Not again!" Jessie said as Arbok lands right on her. Sora took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Phanpy!" Sora called out. Phanpy came right out, joining the battle. "Use Rollout!" Phanpy curled into a ball and rolls right at Team Rocket, landing right into their balloon. "Alrighty, Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at Team Rocket, shocking them. The balloon pops, sending them flying in the air.
"I can't believe this is happening!" Jessie exclaimed.
"I don't know why!" Meowth said.
"Just like every other day, we're getting blown away!" James said. The balloon goes flying out of control.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF A-A-A-A-AGAIN!" Team Rocket exclaimed as they keep going right into the distance with a twinkling star.
Rochelle embraces her youngest Donphan in her arms, and she nuzzles her in return.
"I was worried about you," Rochelle said.
"Glad it all worked out in the end, Rochelle," Kairi said.
"Me too. I have to admit, Sora, the way you handled your Phanpy is proof that you're doing a wonderful job at raising him," Rochelle said. Sora smiled.
"Thanks. Phanpy will do great as we train hard. But there's one thing that's bugging me," Sora said.
"What is it, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Just how could Team Rocket have a hard time finding amberite? I mean, even for them it was a well-thought-out plan. Just how did it all fall apart so fast?" Sora asked.
"I know how. Donphan have to be trained to find amberite. I just started on teaching this one since she evolved from a Phanpy just recently, so I haven't had much practice teaching her to find any amberite yet," Rochelle said. Sora chuckled.
"I knew it was too good to be true," Sora said, chuckling.
"Once again, they ended up with what they absolutely deserve," Kairi said.
"A whole lot of nothing!" Sora and Kairi said in unison. They laughed.
"How would you like a demonstration on how Donphan finds amberite?" Rochelle asked.
"Yeah, that'll be great," Kairi said.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee, Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
"Toge, Toge, Togepi!" Togepi chirped.
Rochelle and her Donphan led the couple and their Pokémon to a spot where to find some good amberite.
"I'll use my oldest Donphan, because he's has the most experience," Rochelle said. She held the amberite before her oldest Donphan. "Okay, Donphan, time to find some amberite." The oldest Donphan sniffed the amberite. "That's it. You remember this, don't you?" The oldest Donphan sniffs the air for some amberite. He kept on smelling until he found the scent he was looking for. The oldest Donphan charges right at the wall in front of him, hitting it. Sora and Kairi quickly realized the cause of the rock slides they witnessed.
"So, that's how they do it," Sora said.
The oldest Donphan kept headbutting the wall until a piece broke off and shattered right on the ground. Rochelle picked up a piece and held it in front of them.
"Here is what amberite looks like," Rochelle said.
"Wow, it's so shiny and beautiful," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"What do you do with the amberite after the Donphan finds them, Rochelle?" Sora asked.
"A lot of artists and craftspeople live nearby. They make their living by carving statues and jewelry from amberite, so they count on me to use the Donphan, so luckily, they're strong enough to find it," Rochelle said.
"Wow, Donphan is the kind of Pokémon that Machoke and Rhydon can get along with," Sora said.
"Sora, is there anything I can do to thank you for helping me get my youngest Donphan back for me?" Rochelle asked. Sora grinned.
"I have an idea, Rochelle. Come here," Sora said, gesturing her to come closer. He whispered into her ear just so Kairi couldn't hear. She smiled and she nodded.
Afterwards, Rochelle made the delivery to a craftswoman, they wait for the results of her labor. About a couple of hours later, she came and presented them statues of Pikachu, Angel, and crafts of Sora's crown to the couple.
"Wow, they look wonderful," Kairi said.
"And that's not even all of them," the craftswoman said, taking out a bracelet that reads "Kairi" on it. The I's are dotted with hearts. Kairi knew it was Sora's handy work. "Sora, did you ask for this?"
"I did, Kairi. You like it?" Sora asked.
"I love it, Sora. You're so very sweet and thoughtful," Kairi said.
"Well, I just like seeing you happy," Sora said. That made Kairi beam some more as she hugged him.
"Thank you, Sora. I love you so much," Kairi said, kissing him on the cheek. Sora blushes from the kiss.
The couple turned to Rochelle and her Donphan as they were taking their leave of the valley.
"Bye, you two. And thank you again for your help," Rochelle said.
"And thank you for the amberite, Rochelle," Sora said.
"We hope we get to see you again," Kairi said.
A grateful Rochelle bids the happy couple a fond farewell as they continue on toward Violet City. And Sora has given his girlfriend a very thoughtful gift that purely came from love and care, and that only made them feel so much closer. And they prepare for the challenges ahead as their quest in Johto continues.
