Episode 85: Grim Grinning Ghost Pokémon
On the same night, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi have left the valley and continued to make their way for Violet City. Along the way, they came across a Pokémon. It is a round, brown Pokémon with the top of its head resembling a club. A rim goes around the middle of its body. There are three yellow spots on its face, two of which surround its eyes, which are small black dots. It has short legs and toeless feet. It also has a hole on its rear.
"Oh, look how cute he is, Sora," Kairi cooed.
"Let's see what we got here," Sora said, taking out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.
Bonsly, the Bonsai Pokémon
Type: Rock
This Pokémon prefers dry environments, but it lets out tears that adjusts the fluids in its body, similar to human sweat. Because of this, Bonsly looks like it is crying.
"A Rock-type Pokémon is just perfect to use against the Violet City Gym Leader. Just to back up Pikachu," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Okay, Pikachu. Move right in, buddy," Sora said. Pikachu stepped right in to battle. Bonsly turned to see the Mouse Pokémon. "Okay, Pikachu, get ready for anything Bonsly throws at you."
"Pika, Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Bonsly began to cry, and tears erupts from his eyes, just like the Pokédex says. Kairi knew it was a move he was using.
"Sora, he's starting off with Fake Tears! It lowers the special defense of Bosnly's opponents!" Kairi said.
"Right. Use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu came right at the Bonsai Pokémon with an Iron Tail, landing a hit. Bonsly came at Pikachu with a Tackle. "Dodge it, Pikachu!" Pikachu dodges just by jumping in the air. "Use Iron Tail again!" Pikachu swings Iron Tail at Bonsly, but he dodges and uses Tackle again, landing a hit that time. "That was a good clean Tackle. Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at Bonsly. The Bonsai Pokémon fell on his back and started to flail around.
"Bonsly is using Flail!" Kairi said.
"Use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and hurls it at Bonsly, landing a hit. Bonsly has been knocked out from the electric ball. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Bonlsy. He flows inside once it struck him. The Pokéball started to wobble around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "I got myself a Bonsly."
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"A wonderful catch, Sora. I think we should find a place to stop for the night before it gets too dark," Kairi said.
"You're right. Let's find a good spot to rest," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi searches for a place to stop for the evening, but they didn't seem to notice a pair of red eyes, staring at them from the top of the trees.
In Pallet Town, Xion is in Kairi's living room, playing with Seth. Xion has taken a liking to the baby ever since she first came to the house. Mirei came right in the living room as Xion kept playing with Kairi's little brother. She was shocked to see a girl who looked a lot like her daughter, but she knew it wasn't her. A mother knows.
"Making yourself at home, dear?" Mirei asked.
"Very much, miss," Xion said. She looked at Mirei and smiled. It felt like she met her before even though she haven't met her until Leaf brought her. Leaf explained that she mistook her for Kairi because she thought she dyed her hair black.
"You don't have to call me miss all the time, Xion," Mirei said.
"Thank you, Mirei," Xion said. Mirei hoped that she would call her mom because it felt like she has another daughter and not know it.
"I've probably said this before, but you're welcome to stay here whenever you want, Xion dear," Mirei said.
"Again, thank you. I had nowhere to go anyway," Xion said. "But being here, and seeing you feels right."
"It feels right to me, too, Xion," Mirei said. She then began to hug Xion much to her surprise. She then returned the hug. The baby crawled up to Xion and tugged on her coat. Xion looked down and he holds his hands out, wanting to he picked up. Xion smiled again and picked him up and she hugged them both.
Meanwhile, the redhead from before sits by a pond as she is surrounded by Poliwag. Ash has taken notice of her and he approached her.
"Excuse me," Ash said as he walked up to her. "Who are you?"
"Who indeed. I could somebody, or I could he nobody," the girl said. "I didn't think anybody would have noticed me anyway." Ash wondered if this girl is a Nobody with a human form or not.
"Don't you have a name at least?" Ash asked.
"I was thinking of Ruby. Yes, that sounds right. Ruby," the girl said. Ash had to go with that.
"Okay, Ruby. Where did you come from?" Ash asked.
"To be honest, I don't really know. I could be from somewhere, then again, I could be from nowhere," Ruby said. Ash laugh a bit. "Did I say something funny?"
"I'm sorry. I'm just not understanding your meaning," Ash said.
"Am I not being specific enough for you?" Ruby asked.
"It's okay. Anyway my name is-" Ash was cut off.
"Ash?" Ruby asked. Ash was stunned to hear her say his name.
"How did you know?" Ash asked.
"I didn't. It just popped in," Ruby said. "And do you have Pokémon with you?"
"My partner," Ash said, taking out his Pokéball and opened it. It let out his Charizard. The Flame Pokémon looked at the redhead and approached her. "Charizard, what are you doing?" Charizard looked at her and sniffed her. Ash was worried that his Charizard might scare her, but he didn't scare her one bit. Instead, she only petted him like a dog. Ash was amazed by what he witnessed. "Wow, that's amazing."
"Your Charizard is sweet. You have done a wonderful job in raising him," Ruby said.
"Um, thank you," Ash said.
"It looks like you were meant to meet each other. It has to be fate," Ruby said.
"Fate? How can you tell?" Ash asked.
"I just can," Ruby simply replied. "I can see the bond you share in your hearts. I can see such bonds if they were people or Pokémon. For example: have a look at those two Poliwag over there." She points to the Poliwag nuzzling each other. "They share a deep bond with one another. It's really cute to be honest." Ash was impressed.
"How amazing," Ash said, impressed. Ruby looked at Ash.
"I can see you're more than a Pokémon Trainer, Ash. You have a special power," Ruby said. Ash was curious if she knew about his ability to use the Keyblade.
"What do you mean?" Ash asked. Ruby looked at Ash.
"You have a power that comes from light. I felt it from the moment we met. Your light is shining brightly. You worked hard to keep it shining," Ruby said.
"We don't really know each other that well, but it feels like you can read me like a book," Ash said.
"And you will need it to keep it shining because of them," Ruby said. Before Ash could ask what she meant, he got his answer when a hoard of Shadows appeared. Ash summoned his Star Seeker and held it tight.
"Get out of here, you monsters!" Ash said, coming at them. A Shadow was slashed, but several more came at him. Charizard came to assist his Trainer, but the Shadows then started to pile up into a pillar. Ash was stunned to see them as a tower. A Demon Tower to be exact. Ash came at the Demon Tower and slashed at it. Some of the Shadows have fallen off and dissolved into darkness. The Demon Tower slammed down onto Ash, taking him in. Charizard flew to save his partner. Ash held out his hand. "No, Charizard, stay away! If you get close, they'll grab you, too! You're a strong Pokémon, but even you can't take on so many at once!" Charizard had to try, so he fired Flamethrower at them, but they slammed at Charizard and he fell backwards. "CHARIZARD!" Ash was covered in them completely. Ash has let out a loud scream. Just when they had him completely engulfed, a light shines from within. Ruby knew it was a sign Ash was alive. With a shining explosion, the Demon Tower comes apart and Ash is holding another Keyblade. This Keyblade is shaped like Charizard's wing. The teeth are shaped like Charizard's flame. The guard is has the design of Charizard's mouth. The Keychain token has a miniature Charizard on it. This Keyblade is known as the Fire Red Charizard. He held both Keyblades in his grip and he slashed at the Shadows. The rest of the Heartless just vanished just like they appeared. "Did you call them?"
"No, I only knew they were there. I was warning you," Ruby assured.
"Well, you sure showed a funny way to warn me," Ash said.
"I'm sorry, Ash. I didn't warn you properly," Ruby said. DiZ appeared behind Ash.
"I have feared the worst when the Heartless attacked," DiZ said.
"I'm alright, DiZ. Just tired from fighting those Heartless," Ash said.
"Come. You must rest from your fight," DiZ said. Ash simply nodded and obliged him. He turned to Ruby and she smiled.
"I'll see you again. I know it," Ruby said. Ash followed DiZ to his base of operations. "I will be happy to meet you soon, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Riku, Naminé, Kairi, Sora."
Back in Johto, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi ventured through the dark forest. They weren't aware of a mysterious creature following the couple. Was it another Heartless? No, it was actually a dark bluish-green, ghost-like Pokémon. While it has no visible arms or legs, its lower half has several small appendages and resembles a ruffled dress. It has several round red gems around its neck. It has long, flowing lilac-tipped "hair". Its large, red eyes have yellow sclerae. This is a Pokémon known as a Misdreavus.
"This is as far as we'll be going, Sora. It's too dark to keep going," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I guess you're right. If we go any further, we might end up getting so lost, we could be in this forest until we're both a couple of old people," Sora said. He sat down against a tree. "I might still be young, but my feet needs to rest."
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Me too, Sora. My feet hurts from all the walking we've been doing ever since we left the valley," Kairi said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Yeah. Just hope nothing happens while we're out here," Sora said.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket are sulking from their latest defeat at the hands of Sora and Kairi.
"We could have had that amberite by now if those twerps didn't meddle in our affairs as usual," James said.
"Mime Jr," Mime Jr said.
"I could have lived like a queen like I wanted to, but no, we had to have our asses tossed back at us like a freaking boomerang," Jessie said.
"And what could the worse happen to us?" Meowth asked.
"Well, we could have a run-in with some Heartless for starters," James said.
"Please, don't bring them up. It's already bad enough we lost to the twerps again; we don't need any of those yellowed-eyed monster bastards showing up. Besides, I'd be haunted by a ghost than attacked by a Heartless," Jessie said.
She should be careful what she wishes for, because there are a hoard of Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, and Misdreavus. There is also another Pokémon with the other Ghost-type Pokémon. It is a purple, ghost-like Pokémon. It has a round head with elaborate tufts resembling a witch's hat atop it. The tips of the tufts are paler than most of the body. It has a thin, red mouth that resembles the letter "W." Below its head, the Pokémon has a short, thorax-like lump from which its body connects. Three elliptical red spheres surround the upper portion of its body. There are extensions on the sides of its lower body with the foremost ones tattered compared to rear ones. This gives the Pokémon the appearance of a witch wearing some kind of cloak. This Pokémon is Mismagius.
The Ghost-type Pokémon decided to have some fun with them. They all turned invisible and followed them.
Meowth is walking ahead of Jessie and James. As they walked, Jessie felt a smack on her rump and she yelped. She growled in anger and gave him a kick in the ass (literally).
"Ow! Jessie, what was that for?" James asked.
"Don't play innocent with me! You smacked me on my ass! Trying to cop a field, you perv?" Jessie asked.
"I didn't do anything, Jessie, I swear!" James said.
"It's useless to lie to me! I've seen how you looked at me! You probably looked at me like I was one of those girls in those porno movies!" Jessie said.
"That's ridiculous, Jessie. I don't look at you like that!" James said.
"Oh, really! You could have fooled me. Didn't you say I looked super sexy that one time?" Jessie asked.
"Hey, I only said that just to butter you up! And I'm going to repeat myself, I didn't touch you there, so cut it out!" James said.
"Only if you cut it out!" Jessie yelled. A pinecone levitates off the ground and it flies at Meowth, hitting him in the back of the head.
"Ouch!" Meowth yelped. He turned around with a huff of anger. "Okay, which one of ya jokers threw that?"
"What are you talking about, Meowth?" Jessie asked.
"Don't act so innocent with me! I know one of you two threw that pinecone at me! So, which one of ya did it?" Meowth asked.
"None of us threw that at you, Meowth! Where is your evidence?" James asked.
"It didn't just magically fly and hit me on the noggin, now did it?" Meowth asked.
"You're just imagining things, Meowth," Jessie said.
"Well, I'm not imagining the pain I got from it!" Meowth said. A rock floats above Meowth's tail and slammed hard on it. "YEOW!" Meowth jumped in the air extremely high. He then comes in for a landing. He turned to Mime Jr. "Hey, what's the idea of smashing my tail like that? Is that supposed to be funny?"
"Mime, Mime, Mime!" Mime Jr said, frantically shaking his head.
"You leave Mime Jr alone, you bully!" James said.
"He smashed my tail like it was a joke! I ain't laughing one bit!" Meowth said.
"If Mime Jr says he didn't do it, then he didn't do it!" James said.
"Like you didn't slapped my ass!" Jessie accused.
"I told you, I didn't touch you there! Besides, I wouldn't touch that fat ass of yours anyway!" James yelled. Jessie felt some veins bulge up.
"My ass isn't fat. And I'm about to kick yours right now!" Jessie said.
Just then, James felt something push him and he fell right on Jessie. Meowth and Mime Jr blushed when they saw them fall. James felt something soft in his right hand. He saw it was Jessie's right breast. She pushes him off and literally slaps him silly.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow!" James yelped.
"FIRST YOU SLAPPED MY BUTT, NOW YOU GRAB ME BY MY BOOB! DIDN'T YOUR MOTHER EVER TELL YOU TO NEVER TOUCH A LADY THERE?!" Jessie yelled.
"Humans are so hard to understand," Meowth said. He then hears some snickering. "Huh? Is someone there? If you're a ghost, a monster, or a Heartless, please go away."
His pleads are ignored as a massive shadow appeared. Jessie stopped slapping James as she and James saw the large shadow looming over them. They flinched, fearing it was a Heartless.
"Crap, not again!" Jessie said. The shadow disburts as Mismagius appeared before them. "Huh? It's only a Pokémon."
"It's a Mismagius," James said. He took out a cube and displays the information of Mismagius. "It says it's as the Magical Pokémon, and it's a Ghost-type Pokémon."
"So, it was that Mismagius that was behind it all," Meowth said. Jessie grinned.
"Mismagius is the perfect Pokémon for me! Now to catch it!" Jessie said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. Mismagius then blocked it with Psychic and sends it back, hitting her in the face.
"Jessie, Jessie, speak to me!" James said.
"Mismagius just used Psychic to send her Pokéball right back at her!" Meowth said.
"And that's not all, Meowth!" James said, pointing ahead of him.
"Mime, Mime, Mime, Mime!" Mime Jr said, mimicking James's movements. Meowth saw a bunch of Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, and Misdreavus as well.
"More Ghost-type Pokémon!" Meowth yelped.
Their eyes began to glow blue as Jessie wakes up.
"Did something just happen while I was taking a nap?" Jessie asked. The Pokémon around them vanished and they looked around. "Where are we?"
"There were a bunch of Ghost-type Pokémon all around us just a little while ago," James said.
As they looked around, Meowth's eyes almost popped out of his head.
"Guys! Look, look, look!" Meowth exclaimed as his mouth drooled. Jessie, James, and Mime Jr turned and they saw a bunch of tables covered with all sorts of food. "It's a feast!"
"It's a picnic!" James said.
"It's a banquet!" Jessie said.
They rushed off to the tables to start eating, but they didn't know it's actually an illusion. The Ghost-type Pokémon all laughed at their victims.
Back with Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi, they were setting for bed when they hear some sounds all around. Teddiursa, Hoothoot, Phanpy, Heracross, and Hoppip were let out of their Pokéballs. Remembering that Hoothoot's eyes can be used to see through illusions created by Ghost-type Pokémon to scare them, Hoothoot has been on constant alert for any Ghost-type Pokémon nearby.
Pikachu's Thunderbolt came in handy to drive off any Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar. They were glad they had a Hoothoot by their side.
"Good job, guys," Sora said, praising Pikachu and Hoothoot.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Hoothoot," Hoothoot hooted.
Sora would have said it would be better to deal with Ghost-type Pokémon than with Heartless, but he didn't want to risk jinxing it. The Misdreavus from before didn't lose them one bit. It decided to have some fun with them, but not by illusions or turning invisible, but by turning into a moving shadow just to stirr them up. Misdreavus sinks into the ground and moved right towards them, being careful not to draw attention to itself before it wanted them to see it.
Just when Kairi was about to go to sleep, Angel's ears perked up. She saw the shadow moving right toward her. She feared it might be a Heartless.
"Eevee!" Angel exclaimed.
"Angel, what's the matter?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee, vee, vee!" Angel said.
"What do you see?" Kairi asked. She gasped when the shadow was moving. "A Heartless!" She summoned her Destiny's Embrace and held it tight. "I won't let you near Sora, you horrible monster!" She came at the shadow in an attempt to strike it, but it easily dodges her. Sora turned around and saw what she was doing.
"Kairi, what's wrong?" Sora asked. He saw the shadow and assumed it was a Heartless, same as his girlfriend. "A Heartless! Come here, you!" He summoned the Kingdom Key and came running. He swung it down, but it dodges with ease. "There it goes!"
"Don't let it get away!" Kairi yelled.
The couple and the Pokémon tried to get a hold of it, but it zips and zaps, like it was playing with them. Misdreavus chuckled, knowing the fun it was having with them.
"Eevee!" Angel yelled, swinging her tail on the ground. She struck the shadow, forcing Misdreavus out. She cried in pain, leaving the couple and the rest of the Pokémon dumbfounded.
"It's not a Heartless. It's really a Pokémon the whole time," Sora said. Kairi dismissed her Keyblade and took out her Pokédex and scanned it.
Misdreavus, the Screech Pokémon
Type: Ghost
It conceals itself in darkness, sending chills up travelers' spines with its childlike weeping. As it observes the frightened travelers with glee, the red orbs upon its chest let off an eerie light.
"She did a great job at that," Kairi said, putting her Pokédex away.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"She's not going to get away with this! Angel! Go!" Kairi said. Angel got ready for anything the Screech Pokémon can dish out. Misdreavus starts off with a Confusion.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel ran to avoid Misdreavus's attack. Misdreavus tried again with Confusion, but misses. Misdreavus saw the Eevee was moving way too fast for the Screech Pokémon to hit her, unless she times it perfectly. Misdreavus uses Confusion on the ground, and successfully strikes her. Pikachu was shocked to witness it.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed in shock.
"Take it easy, Pikachu. Angel can handle herself," Sora assured his partner.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
Misdreavus forms a light green orb of energy around herself. It then fires the orb at Angel.
"That's Hidden Power! Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift at thr green orbs, exploding on contact. "Use Iron Tail!" Angel jumped and smacked Misdreavus with her tail. Misdreavus goes right down. "Iron Tail again!" Angel came down at Misdreavus, but she dodges her completely. Misdreavus fires Hidden Power again. "Dodge with Quick Attack!" Angel dodges Misdreavus's attack just by running again. "One more Iron Tail!" Angel jumped and lands an Iron Tail on the mark. It was enough to bring her down. Kairi gets a Pokéball ready and threw it. Misdreavus flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "I got my very first Ghost-type Pokémon!" She picked up her Pokéball with a smile. She tossed it up and lets out her newest Pokémon.
"Misdreavus?" Misdreavus asked. Kairi held out her hands.
"I wanted to welcome you to the team, Misdreavus. You and I are going to be a team from now on," Kairi said. Misdreavus beamed and nuzzles her new Trainer. She giggled. "Stop that, Misdreavus! That tickles!" She turned to Togepi and Hoppip. "Look, Hoppip, Togepi, we have a new friend. Say hello."
"Hoppip, Hop, Hoppip!" Hoppip greeted.
"Toge, Toge, Togepi!" Togepi chirped.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
"Misdreavus," Misdreavus said with a smile.
"Look at that! You're already fitting in," Kairi said.
"Let's see what Bonsly, Teddiursa, Phanpy, Hoothoot, and Heracross has to say," Sora said.
"Bonsly," Bonsly said.
"Teddiursa!" Teddiursa said.
"Phanpy, Phanpy, Phanpy!" Phanpy greeted.
"Hoothoot!" Hoothoot hooted.
"Heracross," Heracross said.
"Now that we know each other, how about we go right to sleep," Kairi suggested.
"Yeah, we had quite a long day," Sora said with a yawn.
"Pikachu," Pikachu also yawned.
Sora and his Pokémon quickly fell asleep, with the exception of Hoothoot. Kairi snuggled up to Sora and she fell asleep, holding him. Angel, Togepi, and Hoppip fell asleep right with her. Misdreavus was still wide awake with Hoothoot.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket started to run off screaming in fright.
"This is a nightmare!" Jessie exclaimed.
"Started by a dream!" James added.
"The food we were going to eat were about to start eat us!" Meowth yelled.
"Why did this have to happen?! This absolutely terrible!" Jessie yelled.
"You're right! It's been absolutely ghastly!" James yelled.
"Mime, Mime, Mime, Mime, Mime!" Mime Jr yelled.
Team Rocket kept on running for their lives and ran pass Gary. He looked at them very confused.
"Those three are really hopeless. They should have been better prepared by having a Hoothoot with them," Gary said.
