Episode 96: The Whistle Stop
A little later on the same day after witnessing the Quagsire's annual Blue Moon festival, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi continues to make their way for Violet City after taking their leave from Cherrygrove City. As they walked, Sora looked at the GS Ball in his hand.
"Who would have thought one little Pokéball can bring so much luck?" Sora asked.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It sure was an amazing experience," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Yeah, it sure was. I guess we were lucky to see it," Sora said. Sora places the GS Ball back in his backpack when he heard some sort of sound. "You hear that?"
"It sounded really close," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
The Pokémon couple followed the source of the sound. They stopped when they saw a new kind of Pokémon.
It's a small, bipedal Pokémon covered in blue fur. Its head is spherical with ear-like, fingerless arms on either side and a bulbous growth on its forehead. It has a wide mouth with a serrated upper jaw and a pink tongue. Its eyes appear closed, each curving upward to a point in the center. The fur on its body ends in a zigzag pattern, extending over its short legs. The Pokémon's tail is long and completely black, ending in a round, flattened tip with a white, eye-like spot. Sora and Kairi saw the small blue Pokémon.
"Oh, how cute," Kairi cooed.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?" Sora asked, taking out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Wynaut, the Bright Pokémon
Type: Psychic
It tends to move in a pack with others. They cluster in a tight group to sleep in a cave.
"Wynaut is a long way from any cave," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away.
"He must be lost," Kairi said.
"Or maybe there's a cave nearby," Sora said. "But it looks like a wild Pokémon anyway, so why not? Pikachu, you ready?"
"Pika," Pikachu nodded. He stepped in front of Wynaut and spotted the Mouse Pokémon.
"Use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu swings his tail at the Bright Pokémon, but his whole body gave off an orange glow. Wynaut pushes Pikachu back hard. "That was Counter. You okay, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said, feeling the effect of Wynaut's Counter.
"Counter is a move that works against physical attacks, so let's try a special move. Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt right at the Bright Pokémon, shocking him. Wynaut was brought down, so Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Wynaut flowed inside. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Wynaut with him. He chose to send Wynaut to Professor Oak's lab.
In Professor Oak's lab, the Pokémon professor witnesses a Pokéball appearing before him.
"How wonderful! Sora's Pokémon limit has been reached! What has he sent me, I wonder," Professor Oak said. He opened the Pokéball and saw it was a Wynaut that came right out. "Ah, a Wynaut. Hello, Wynaut. Welcome to Pallet Town. My name is Professor Oak."
"Wy, Wynaut," Wynaut said.
Over to Ash. He paid Xion a visit in Kairi's house.
"How are you adjusting to life here in Pallet Town?" Ash asked.
"Okay, I think. It's been weeks since I came here and the people here were all so kind to me. They said that I look like someone they know. I only seen her pictures," Xion said.
"Don't you have any memories of your old life at all?" Ash asked.
"I remember nothing," Xion said. Ash couldn't place his finger on it.
(Flashback)
Ash stood beside DiZ.
"Why is she so important?" Ash asked.
"Xion is a unique Nobody. Unlike any I have ever come across. She shares the same abilities as Sora and Roxas," DiZ said.
"Just whose Nobody is she?" Ash asked.
"I could tell you. But there are some secrets that are best kept secret," DiZ said.
"How is that the Organization doesn't know about her? There's no way that a Nobody like her would be below their radar," Ash said.
"Words cannot describe it. But I doubt Xion will be a secret for long," DiZ said. Ash knew he was right. He wondered if the Organization was going to strike anytime soon.
(End of flashback)
Ash was thinking about what DiZ was telling him.
"But I'm sure you'll remember something eventually," Ash said. Xion smiled.
"Thank you, Ash," Xion said.
"And just know that if you're in trouble, I'll rush over and help you out," Ash said.
"You would do that?" Xion asked.
"Yeah, because we're friends," Ash said.
"Friends," Xion said. She hears the sounds of Seth crying and Xion went over to Seth. She saw that he just dropped his toy. It is a plush Squirtle. "Did you drop that? I'll get it for you. Don't cry." She picked it up and hands it to the baby. The baby cooed as Xion smiled. Ash looked at Xion and he couldn't get how she looks like Kairi.
Back in Johto, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi are walking down a path, but they're unaware that Team Rocket are under a bridge. Meowth looks up through a periscope and laughed.
"Here they come. It's the lovebird twerps and Pikachu heading this way," Meowth said.
"Ha, little do they know that their travel plans are about to fall through," Jessie said.
"Fall through indeed," James added.
"This plan might be simple, but it's the best one ever," Meowth said.
"When those twerps get right overhead," Jessie said.
"When they're right in position," James said.
"We pull the rope, the bottom opens up and we watch them fall right in, shut the cage and we've got 'em right where we want 'em!" Meowth said.
"And Pikachu too!" Jessie said.
"We're finally gonna get Pikachu!" Team Rocket chanted. "Pika, Pika, Pikachu, chu, chu!" They stupidly dance around, making the bridge even more unstable. "We're finally gonna capture Pikachu! La, la, la, la, la, la!" They felt the bridge crumbling.
"It's collapsing!" Jessie said.
"And so is our plan!" James said.
"If we're going to get washed out, let's hope it's somewhere with a soft cushion down at the bottom of a waterfall," Meowth said.
They fell right in the river below them as the bridge just broke in the middle. Team Rocket emerged from the water as they go downstream.
"Looks like Team Rocket's washing off again!" Team Rocket shouted. The couple and Pokémon stopped when they saw the bridge destroyed.
"How did that happen?" Sora asked.
"Must have been unstable," Kairi said.
"Good thing we didn't cross it ourselves otherwise we would have gone down a creek without a paddle or a boat for that matter," Sora said.
"How are going to get across?" Kairi asked.
"Maybe, we could just walk along the river until we see another bridge," Sora said.
"But that'll take a long time. The nearest one is 10 miles away," Kairi said, checking the map on her PokéGear.
"That's a problem," Sora said. The sound of a whistle is heard. Sora looked around as did Pikachu and Angel. They saw a young woman with short hair, riding a swing being carried by six Ledyba. "Look at that. Ledyba."
"Maybe she could help us out," Kairi said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Good idea. Hey up there!" Sora called out to her. She saw the couple from below. "Can you lend a hand here please?"
"Ledya, prepare to descent! Decrease speed at 50% and prepare for an immediate landing," the young woman said. She blew her whistle, making the Ledyba descend to the ground.
"Good thing you were passing by," Sora said.
"May I help you with something?" The young woman asked.
"Yeah, we need to get across, and the bridge just collapsed in the middle," Sora said.
"I can give you a lift if you want," the young woman offered.
"That's really nice of you," Kairi said.
"My name is Arielle," the young woman introduced herself. "What's yours?"
"I'm Sora," Sora introduced himself. "This my partner Pikachu."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"And I'm Kairi. And this is Angel, and this little guy is Togepi," Kairi introduced.
"Eevee, vee," Angel said.
"Togepi," Togepi chirped.
"We'll take you both over one at a time when you're ready," Arielle said.
"Ready when you are," Kairi said.
Arielle and Sora were carried to the other side as Sora carried Pikachu on his lap.
"A fun right, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Descend!" Arielle said, blowing her whistle. The Ledyba lower themselves down. Arielle and her Ledyba went back for Kairi, Angel, and Togepi and brought them to the other side.
"Thanks for the ride, Arielle," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"No problem. The Ledyba and I have to work in this apple orchard anyway," Arielle said. The couple turned and looked at the trees filled with white flowers.
"All those trees are apple trees?" Sora asked.
"All those white flowers are just beautiful," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"They sure are. But why do you have to come to this apple orchard?" Sora asked.
"Well, I-" Arielle was cut off when a man driving on a tracker drove up.
"Arielle," the man said. "Good to see you have come. Are ya set to go to work?"
"We're all set, Mr. Douglas," Arielle said.
Mr. Douglas drove off with a hum.
"What are you going to do?" Sora asked.
"Why don't you stick around for a while and see for yourselves?" Arielle suggested. Her Ledyba got into position.
"I can bet my Keyblade she uses the Ledyba," Sora said.
"That was my guess, too," Kairi said.
Arielle takes a small handful of grass and sprinkled it. It blows in the wind.
"Wind, southwest and 8th south! Begin climbing at 40 degrees! On the whistle!" Arielle instructed. The Ledyba got into position and blew her whistle. The Ledyba started to fly right to the white flowers. "Descend!" She blew her whistle. The Ledyba complied. "Now climb!" She blew the whistle again, and the Ledyba complied. "Descend!" She blew her whistle again and they descended again. They were pollinating the flowers.
"I get it! Her Ledyba are pollinating all those flowers!" Kairi said.
"Pollinating? You mean they're moving pollen around into those other flowers?" Sora asked.
"That's right, Sora. And all those flowers will eventually grow into apples," Kairi said.
"Looks like something your Ledyba would do," Sora said.
"You're right, Sora. Ledyba loves flowers just as much as Butterfree do," Kairi said. "This is the first time that I have ever seen Ledyba doing it. I wonder if my Ledyba would do that."
Arielle instructed, "Climb!" Whislte. "Descend!" Whistle. "Climb!" Whistle. "Descend!" Whistle.
"I can't believe she was able to get all six of those Ledyba with one little whistle," Sora said.
"It's like she's an army drill Sargeant but nicer," Kairi said. Sora remembered seeing some movies that a drill Sargeant yelling and screaming at the new recruits. Sora walked up to Arielle.
"How were you able to get the Ledyba to follow your every move just like that?" Sora asked.
"I have done a lot of training, but the real key is this little whistle. The way I give the Ledyba all of their commands, it's like playing different notes with it," Arielle said.
"Wow, that's really cool," Sora said. He then said in his thoughts, "If only I had one of those to keep the Heartless away."
"Can anyone use the whistle with your Ledyba?" Kairi asked.
"No. This whistle has been passed down from generation to generation in my family, so I'm not allowed to let anybody else use it. I'm sorry," Arielle said.
"Don't be. I understand," Kairi said.
A little further ahead, Team Rocket are spying on them.
"Look at that. If we get our paws on that whistle, we'll be the ones controlling those Ledyba," Meowth said.
"The twerps will have to change their tune when we're the ones in charge," Jessie said.
"I like the sound of this plan," James said.
"Okay, Ledyba, time for a rest, now!" Arielle said, blowing her whistle. The Ledyba returned to Arielle's side.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen!" James announced. Sora, Kairi, and the Pokémon turned to see Team Rocket in their disguises. "Today on our show, a world renowned Pokémon expert will be here to appraise your skills and determine their value," James said.
Sora knew it was Team Rocket up to their usual tricks.
"You've gotta be kidding me," Sora said.
"Young lady, if you could allow me examine this whistle?" Jessie asked, taking the whistle.
"But that's mine!" Arielle said. She examined it with a magnifying glass.
"Hm. An interesting whistle," Jessie said.
"And now to give it your final answer! What do you say?" James asked.
"I give it 5 stars!" Jessie exclaimed.
"And we will be off!" Jessie and James said, taking off.
"Stop right there!" Sora shouted.
"Yeah, you can't take my whistle!" Arielle called out. Team Rocket ditched their disguises.
"Prepare for trouble, it's Team Rocket's whistle!" Jessie said.
"Make it double! That's Rocket and not missile!" James said with a rhyme.
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth! That's right!"
"Mime, Mime!"
Meowth and Mime Jr both came down in their balloon.
"Not you again!" Kairi said.
"Give that whistle back!" Sora said.
"Never, never, never!" Jessie said.
"You can't blow a whistle on us this time!" James said.
Team Rocket taunts them.
"We're going to see about that," Sora said.
"The only place you'll see us is in your dreams!" Meowth said.
"It'll be a nightmare," Sora said.
"It's time to come with us, Ledyba!" Jessie said, blowing the whistle. Ledyba only looked at her confused. "Huh? What's wrong with you?" She blew the whistle again. "Can't you hear this?" She blew it again. "Let's go!" She blew again and again.
"The Ledyba won't obey you if haven't done any training!" Arielle said. Team Rocket blanched when they were told that.
"Morons!" Sora exclaimed.
"We got jipped! We went through all this trouble and we aren't catching any Ledyba?" Jessie asked.
"Even though we blew the whistle, we really blew it big," James said.
"This is a huge ripoff!" Meowth exclaimed.
"You really should have thought this plan all the way through!" Kairi said.
"Here's something to think about, twerps!" Jessie said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Lickitung!" Her Pokéball opened and Lickitung came out and laid on top of the balloon.
"Lick," Lickitung said.
"Use Supersonic!" Jessie ordered. Lickitung emits a soundwave from his mouth, making the couple cover their ears. Pikachu and Angel did the same thing. The Ledyba ends up being confused.
"Use Tackle on that balloon!" Arielle ordered. The Ledyba couldn't hear her commands because of Lickitung's Supersonic. "Why aren't you listening? I said Tackle!"
"Ha! While those bugs are bugged out, we take advantage of the confusion and grab Pikachu!" Meowth said.
"Right!" Jessie and James said.
"Wrong! Take this instead! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt, shocking Team Rocket. The brightness of the electric attack frightens the six Five Star Pokémon, making them fly away.
"Ledyba, Where are you going? Come back!" Arielle called out.
Pikachu's Thunderbolt makes a hole in the balloon and sends them flying.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Team Rocket exclaimed.
"Good job, Pikachu," Sora said.
"Not so good because they got the whistle," Kairi said.
"You're right. And the Ledyba are flying away!" Sora said.
They watched the Ledyba fly away.
"Ledyba!" Arielle called out to them, but they were too far for them to hear her voice.
A few minutes later, Sora, Kairi, Arielle, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi searched for any signs for the ladybug-like Pokémon.
"Ledyba! Here Ledyba!" Sora called out.
"Ledyba! Where are you?" Kairi asked.
"Pika!" Pikachu called out.
"Eevee!" Angel called out.
"Ledyba! Come out, come out, wherever you are," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Man, it's just like those morons to show up when nobody wants them and then wreck everything," Sora growled.
"Ledyba! Please, come back!" Arielle said. Sora felt guilty about what happened.
"Arielle, I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't know Pikachu's Thunderbolt would scare them," Sora apologized.
"Don't feel bad, Sora. It's not your fault. You had no choice. You had to do something to stop that Team Rocket," Arielle said. Sora smiled, feeling better.
"Let's think like Ledyba. Ledyba loves flowers, so they'll probably go somewhere there's some flowers," Kairi said.
"That's exactly right, Kairi. Maybe they went to a garden somewhere," Arielle said.
"And if there are flowers, there should be pollen, too. And I have just the Pokémon to sniff it out," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball. "Go! Heracross!" His Pokéball opened and Heracross came right out.
"Why Heracross, Sora?" Kairi asked.
"Well, I figured since Heracross loves tree sap, Heracross should be able to sniff for pollen and he might lead us to the Ledyba," Sora said.
"That's using your noggin, Sora," Kairi said, rubbing her boyfriend's head, making him laugh.
"Okay, Heracross. Start sniffing for pollen," Sora said. Heracross sniffed around before he caught the scent. "That was fast. Okay, Heracross. Go for it!" Heracross leads them through the woods. He stopped and made a left turn. "Okay, it's on the left!" He groaned when he saw Heracross suckling on a tree. "Should have guessed that would happen."
"It was a good thought, Sora," Kairi said.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket had crash landed somewhere in the forest. Jessie is fantasies about being in a flower field.
"Ah, sky as blue as sapphires. Clouds white as marshmallows. We could be sailing sweetly on sub-summer breeze!" Jessie said. She snaps back into reality. "But instead we're stuck on the ground sewing this damn balloon!"
"How about you do some less yapping and more sewing!" Meowth said.
"That's right," James agreed.
"Now I remember why this whistle reminds me of the two of you! It's useless!" Jessie said.
"Don't throw it away! Maybe it wasn't working because you weren't playing it the right way," Meowth said, picking up the whistle.
"If you think you can do any better, I'd like to see that," Jessie said.
"Don't mind if I do!" Meowth said. He starts blowing on the whistle, but Jessie just laughed when he didn't do a good job at blowing.
"See? You couldn't blow a house in!" Jessie said. She took out a Pokéball. "Arbok!" Her Arbok came right out, waiting for Jessie's instructions. "Make yourself useful and go find us something to eat." Meowth took a deep breath and blew right on it, making the whistle make some strange sound. Arbok starts dancing with the tune. "Huh? What's gotten into you, Arbok?" Meowth stopped blowing on it. He wondered if it was the whistle. He blew on it again and Arbok starts dancing to it again. Arbok starts dancing to it again. Meowth stopped dancing. "Hey, Arbok's moving and grooving to the beat of this whistle!" He blows on it again and Arbok dances to the tune once again.
"You're right," Jessie agreed.
"Oh my," James said. Meowth stops blowing it.
"Maybe this whistle affects a different kind of Pokémon depending on who's blowing on it. Maybe my whistle blowing has an effect on snake Pokémon," Meowth said.
"Makes sense since Ekans and Arbok are both snake Pokémon," James said. He turned his head to his right. "Look over there!" He points to his right. Jessie and Meowth turned to look at what James was looking at. They saw it was the six Ledyba. They were all asleep. "It's all those Ledyba!"
"Right in the open!" Meowth said.
"Now we can catch them the old fashioned way!" Jessie said.
"Wait, Jessie, how about you let me handle this one!" Meowth spoke up. Jessie turned to Meowth, confused. "Okay, Arbok, use Dig to sneak on those Ledyba!"
"You're kidding, right? Did you forget that Arbok only takes orders from me, Meowth?" Jessie scoffed. Meowth blew on the whistle and Arbok dug into the earth. "Well, you sure shut me up."
The Ledyba were suddenly woken up by a rumble in the earth. Arbok erupted from the ground, scaring the Ledyba. Meowth took out his net and trapped the Ledyba in it. Meowth laughed.
"I'm a pretty good Trainer, ain't I?" Meowth asked.
"I'm not sure I like this idea," Jessie pouted.
Meowth tied the Ledyba with a rope for each Ledyba.
"There, that should keep ya under control," Meowth said.
The Ledyba then started to take flight, lifting Team Rocket up when Jessie and James grabbed Meowth by his feet.
"Wait!" Jessie exclaimed.
"This is better than our balloon!" Meowth said.
"Yes, just as long you don't let go of that rope!" James said.
"Now that we got the Ledyba, we should go and find Pikachu!" Jessie said. "Ready, go! I mean, Ledy, go!" The Ledyba weren't complying.
"Hey, quit stalling!" Meowth said.
"Move it!" James said.
"Time to take us to the twerps!" Jessie said.
The Ledyba sprinkles orange powder all over them.
"Hey!" Jessie exclaimed.
"What the hell is this orange stuff?" James asked.
"I heard of seeing red, not orange!" Meowth said. The Ledyba took flight. Arbok starts following them.
Back with Sora, Kairi, Arielle, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi they continued to search for Arielle's Ledyba.
"Your Ledyba should be close to us by now," Sora said.
"Yes, but even if we do find my Ledyba, I have a feeling they're going to stop listening to me," Arielle said.
"That's not going to happen, Arielle," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"But it only happened once. Without that whistle, they'll never listen to a word I say," Arielle said.
"That only happened because they were confused by Lickitung's Supersonic," Sora said.
"I hope you're right," Arielle said. She starts crying. "Because I can't imagine what I'd do if my Ledyba don't come back to me! I can't even think about life without my beautiful Ledyba!"
"You don't really believe that, do you?" Sora asked. She stopped crying and looked at Sora. "I mean, who raised all those Ledyba, trained them, and took care of them whenever they got sick?"
"Me. I've done that ever since they were tiny babies," Arielle said.
"That's what's important, Arielle. You saw what's in their hearts, and they saw what was in yours. Your heart is connected to theirs and theirs are connected to yours. You don't need some magic whistle to do all that," Sora said.
Arielle thought about what Sora had just said to her. She remembered all the times she shared with her Ledyba. Her face lit up when she realized that it was never the whistle, it was her the whole time.
"Sora. You're right. I did it all, not the whistle," Arielle said.
"And when we find them, you'll see it for real," Sora said.
"He's right. You and your Ledyba will be together again," Kairi said.
"Thank you, Sora, Kairi," Arielle said. She froze when she caught a whiff of something familiar to her. "You smell something?"
"Smell what?" Sora asked. He and Kairi sniffed around and smelled nothing. "I don't smell anything. How about you, Kairi."
"I don't smell anything either," Kairi said.
"It's a very feint smell that the Ledyba give off when they're in danger," Arielle said.
"You were right, Sora. They're somewhere nearby," Kairi said.
"Just a hunch I had," Sora said. He looked at Pikachu. "Okay, Pikachu, you go and see if you can catch a whiff!"
"Pika!" Pikachu said, climbing a nearby tree. He gets to the top and spots an orange mist. "Pika!"
"Pikachu's spotted something!" Sora said. They ran towards the source and they found themselves in the orange mist. "Where did this orange mist come from?"
"From the Ledyba. Just as I thought. They had to be in some kind of trouble," Arielle said. They all looked around, but Kairi spots an orange puddle.
"Over there!" Kairi said, pointing forward. "It looks like they left us a trail!"
"Let's follow it before it gets cold," Sora said.
"Ledyba!" Arielle exclaimed.
They followed the trail. Team Rocket are still being dragged by the Ledyba. Arbok wraps around a tree and held on.
"You're brilliant, Arbok," Jessie said.
"I knew this had your stink all over it!" Sora said. Team Rocket spots them. "Time to give up!"
"What are you doing with my Ledyba?" Arielle asked.
"Buzz off!" Meowth yelled.
"Ledyba!" Arielle cried. James took out a bazooka and fired a net at them. Sora rolls and Kairi cartwheels to dodge the net, but Arielle is caught in the net. "Help!"
"Arielle!" Kairi gasped.
"Missed them," James said.
"Last chance! Give those Ledyba back or else!" Sora said.
"I choose else!" Jessie said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Lickitung! I choose you!"
"Go! Victreebel!" James called out.
Lickitung and Victreebel both came out of their Pokéballs and Victreebel chomps on James once again.
"WHEN WILL I LEARN?!" James exclaimed. Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Heracross!" Sora called out.
"I choose you, Mareep!" Kairi called out.
Heracross and Mareep both came out at once.
"Do it, Lickitung! Use Supersonic like before!" Jessie ordered.
"We heard enough of that! Heracross! Use Throat Chop!" Sora ordered. Heracross's hands becomes surrounded in purple energy. He then jabs the Licking Pokémon's throat with it, making Lickitung unable to use Supersonic. Lickitung wheezed.
"Supersonic! Use Supersonic now!" Jessie ordered. Lickitung tried to use Supersonic, but she growled in frustration. "WHY AREN'T YOU USING SUPERSONIC LIKE I'M TELLING YOU TO?!"
"Sora's done his homework. Throat Chop makes certain that sound based moves aren't used after hitting the throat," Kairi said.
"You little brat!" Jessie hissed.
"Mareep! Use Signal Beam!" Kairi ordered. Mareep fired Signal Beam at Victreebel. "Use Thunder Shock!" Mareep shocks Victreebel, making him land on the ground.
Arielle looked at her Ledyba from in the net.
"I wonder if Sora is right. There's only one way to find out," Arielle said in her thoughts. She called out, "Ledyba!" The Ledyba responded to her voice, but Meowth was oblivious to the Ledyba's frenzy.
"Nice try! Without your whistle, you're nothing!" Meowth taunted. Meowth was wrong because they did respond to her voice.
"Sora and Kairi were right. They're listening to me! Ledyba!" Arielle called out. The Ledyba kept on pulling, straining Arbok. The Cobra Pokémon didn't know how much longer he was going to hold on. Arbok was being pulled by the Ledyba, much to Team Rocket's dismay.
"Good work, Arielle. Time to get you out," Sora said, taking out Chikorita's Pokéball. "Come out, Chikorita!"
"Chiko!" Chikorita said.
"Cut that net with Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Chikorita fired Razor Leaf, cutting the net.
"Thanks, Sora," Arielle said.
"Anytime. Wanna do the honors?" Sora asked.
"My pleasure," Arielle said.
"No you don't! Use Razor Leaf!" James ordered. Victreebel fired Razor Leaf at the Ledyba.
"Climb at 70 degrees!" Arielle instructed. The Ledyba went up and cuts the rope. Victreebel kept firing Razor Leaf. "Look out, Ledyba! Descend at 80 degrees!" The Ledyba dove down, dodging Victreebel's Razor Leaf.
"Don't just sit there, Lickitung! Use Supersonic!" Jessie ordered. Lickitung tried to use Supersonic, but nothing came out his mouth. "CAN'T YOUR THROAT HEAL ANY FASTER?!"
"Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Use Thunder Shock, Mareep!" Kairi ordered.
Pikachu and Mareep fired their electric attacks at Team Rocket, shocking them.
"Okay,Ledyba! Descend at 60 degrees, then climb in 30 degrees for a Tackle! Full speed!" Arielle ordered. The Ledyba descent and charged in for a Tackle, sending them flying in the air.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Team Rocket yelled as they go flying in the sky. A star twinkles in the distance. The whistle comes falling down and Kairi catches it in her hands.
"I got it," Kairi said.
"Ledyba!" Arielle cried as she and her Ledyba hugged each other. Kairi walked up to Arielle.
"I believe this is yours," Kairi said.
"Thank you, Kairi. I'm awfully grateful to you," Arielle said.
"You're welcome. As long as you care about your Pokémon, they'll care about you in return," Kairi said.
"Yeah," Arielle said. They all went back to the orchard as the sun starts to set. "Ready to give it a try, Ledyba?"
"Lee," the Ledyba nodded.
"I'm counting on you," Arielle said, blowing her whistle. The Ledyba flew towards the orchard. "Descend!" The Ledyba proceeded to pollinating the flowers. Arielle didn't blow her whistle that time. "Okay, keep going."
"It looks like it doesn't matter if you use your whistle or not," Sora said.
"From now on, I'm going to start using my whistle less and less everyday," Arielle said.
"We're just glad that it all worked out in the end, Arielle," Kairi said.
"Me too," Arielle said.
"Well, we should get going, Arielle," Sora said.
"Thank you for earlier," Kairi said.
"I should be thanking you for helping me get my Ledyba back. Good luck on your way!" Arielle called out. The Ledyba waved their new friends goodbye.
Today, Sora and Kairi are reminded that there are many ways for humans and Pokémon to communicate with each other. And they remembered it's what's in their hearts. And the journey ahead of them continues.
