"Hmm, this is nice." Peter hummed as he and Carla were currently curled up on the sofa in her living. It was now Friday and for the past few days they spent many stolen moment together. Whether that be in the factory after the workers had left, the bookies when nobody was around and Carla's flat when Peter claimed to be at an AA meeting. Although they were very nearly caught out when they'd snuck outside of the Rovers back yard together, the previous evening.

Peter had been in the pub with Leanne while Carla and Michelle had popped in after work. Peter and Leanne were sitting in a booth together while Carla and Michelle were at the bar. Michelle found it somewhat strange that Carla wasn't drinking her usual glass of red wine and had settled for an orange juice. "I've just got a banging headache that's all, and wine tends to make it worse." Carla said as she sipped her drink. Michelle raised her eyebrows at her.

"When did you get so boring?" Michelle questioned.

"I don't know… I can't seem to handle my boozing as much as I could when I was younger." She mused. Michelle just nodded in repsonse while sipping her own drink.

Peter was very much struggling not to stare at Carla as she leaned against the bar. He was very conscious of the fact that Leanne was sitting right opposite him and didn't want to look suspicious. Carla could feel Peter's eyes burning holes in her back. Every so often she would flick her hair over her shoulder, just to try and get some reaction out of Peter.

A little while later Peter needed some fresh air so decided to pop out the back for a smoke. He caught the eye of Carla and motioned to outside. That's when Carla excused herself to the toilet. "You are driving me crazy." Peter said as Carla approached him. He'd lit up a cigarette and was leaning against the wall.

"Hmm." Carla hummed as she placed a rather hot kiss on the lips. "That was the plan." She said as she pulled back before leaning in once more. "What are you doing tomorrow night?" She asked.

"That depends on what you've got in mind." Peter replied raising his eyebrows.

"Why don't you come over to mine and we can order some food or something?" Carla suggested. "I'd offer to cook but I don't fancy giving you food poisoning." She added earning a chuckle off Peter.

"Sounds good to me." He replied before pulling Carla in once more and kissing her deeply. However they were very quickly interrupted.

"Carla? Carla are you out here?" A voice called it was Michelle. Carla and Peter pulled away so quickly before Michelle could see what was going on.

"Alright?" Carla asked trying to act as normal as possible.

"I was looking for you, I though you were just going to the bathroom." Michelle said.

"Yeah. I just needed some fresh air and Peter was out here and we just got chatting really." Carla said hoping that Michelle would just accept it and move on. Peter nodded as Carla spoke, he too was trying to act as normal as possible.

"Oh… Right, I was just wondering if you wanted another drink?" Michelle asked. "It's my turn to buy."

"Well, I can't say no to that, can I?" Carla said feeling relieved that Michelle hadn't caught on to anything suspicious.

Now it was the folllwing evening and Carla and Peter hadn't long finished eating some chinese food which Peter had gotten on his way over. As much as Carla really wanted to be with Peter, she couldn't help but long for the moment they didn't have to do all of this in private. "Peter, can I ask you something?" Carla said as she sat up right more. Peter could tell that she clearly had something on her mind which she needed to talk to him about.

"Yeah, what is it?" He asked as he too sat up and faced Carla.

"I know that you said that things with Leanne are complicated and you can't exactly spring all of this on her but she's planning your wedding, how long can you really put it off for?" Carla asked as she looked at Peter intently who let out a sigh.

"It's just hard… I guess." He said. "It's hard because Simon looks up to her like a Mother… I've already let him down so many times in his life that I just need to find the right time for it… Please, just be patient with me." He said softly before giving her a reassuring kiss on her lips.

Carla didn't feel completely satisfied with his repsonse, in fact she felt worse and Peter could see this by the look on her face. "Ey, why don't we book a hotel room for tomorrow night, we can go out for dinner and make it a proper date." He said hoping it would cheer her up as he didn't want to be the reason she was upset and would fall back onto drinking booze.

"What will you say to Leanne?" Carla asked as she hopefully looked up at Peter.

"It's okay, I think of something… We can go into the city where nobody will know us and just be completely ourselves together." He said which made Carla smile.

"Sounds perfect." She said before pecking his lips gently and settling back down on the sofa.

Carla had soon fallen asleep on Peter's chest and as she peacefully slept, he didn't have the heart to move her. He knew she had a very troubled past and wanted nothing more than for her to have a settled future only that was very much difficult to think about at this moment in time.

Peter soon began to feel his eyes getting heavy and before long he too had fallen asleep. It must've been a couple of hours later when the pair of them had woken up to the sound of Peter's phone ringing, it was Leanne. She was probably once again out of her mind with worry, wondering where Peter was. "I'm so sorry to leave in such a rush… But tomorrow night, I am all yours." He said as he put his jacket on sharply and gave Carla a quick kiss on the head as she was sitting on the sofa.

When Peter left, Carla leaned back on the sofa. Why was it always the taken men she had to fall for, first Liam and now Peter. She was certain there was something wrong with her.

Peter had to mentally prepare himself for the ear bashing he was inevitably going to get from Leanne for being out so long. "Why don't you call or send me text when you know you're going to be out longer… It doesn't half make me worry about you!" She said trying to shout because Simon was in bed.

"I know it's just when you're talking an alcoholic out of not drinking, time really goes and then next thing you know 4 hours have passed." Peter said avoiding Leanne's gaze in case she could see right through him.

"All I needed was a simple text… Unless you're lying to me about where you really were." She said which made Peter squirm.

"Why would I do that?" He chuckled trying to act normal.

"I don't know do I? Maybe it's you that's on the booze." She snapped.

"Do I look like i'm drunk?" He asked seriously. Leanne had seen Peter drunk many times and could always tell even if he had one drink and she could clearly see he hadn't been drinking.

"Is there another woman?" She asked hoping that she was jumping to conclusions. Peter felt his throat go dry.

"What? No! Of course not… Don't be daft." He said. "I am sorry for not letting you know that I was going to be late and I promise you it won't happen ever again." He said as he pulled Leanne close. The last thing he needed was for Leanne to get suspicious.
