Chapter One-hundred and ninety-two: Tuning Ash with Greninja for a synchro

The heroes stopped off at a Pokémon Center on the way to Snowbelle City. While there, they all headed out onto the battlefield behind the Pokémon Center. "As was previously mentioned," Clemont said, "I believe that a point was made on how, when Ash's Greninja uses its transformation power, the two of them have to be on the same 'wavelength', as it were. Today we'll be tackling how to figure out how to get Ash and his Greninja onto that wavelength quicker and more easily, so as to see them master the transformation power for good."

Dawn nodded in agreement with Clemont. "May and I saw Ash's Greninja temporarily outside of that cloak of water that partly masks its form when it transforms. It... kind of looked like it developed physical characteristics that were hallmarks to how Ash looks." Dawn was going off of what she remembered from the XY anime back in her previous life, intending to try and sneak in what all she remembered to better help Ash and his Greninja to master the Ash-Greninja transformation.

"I think the heat of the moment was what let Greninja and I achieve a perfect transformation," Ash admitted, "Given that we were fighting in defense of Gloire City when Team Scorn attacked it. I'm pretty sure it was a one time deal until Greninja and I properly master things there, and that we shouldn't try to force things there again by getting into other similarly dire straits."

Clemont nodded in agreement. "Indeed. That and you will worry the rest of us if you keep endangering yourself like that."

"Far be it from me to intentionally worry my friends if I can help it," Ash replied.

Clemont nodded again as he pulled out two devices that looked kind of like wrist watches. "These are Battle Pulse Meters," Clemont said, "A device of my invention. Ash and his Greninja will wear one each, as they will gather data on them such as heart rates, brain waves, and the like during battle, as I believe the transformation can only occur during a battle."

Raising a hand, Kenny said, "Question, Clemont. You said that you invented those fancy watches, right? How do we know they won't blow up?"

"There's nowhere near enough stuff in either for that to happen," Clemont said, "Also, I made these with the specific intent for them to be worn by Ash and his Greninja, so I made especially sure that they wouldn't blow up."

Ash and his Greninja were then supplied with one Battle Pulse Meter each. Clemont then took out a miniature Clembot, which he called the Clembot Mini, and set it on a table nearby, saying it'll collect data from the Battle Pulse Meters while Ash and his Greninja were in battle. Serena and Bonnie both thought the Clembot Mini was cute, and Kenny remarked that it was Clembot's pre-evolved form. Kenny was about to ask how Clembot Mini evolved into Clembot, but Dawn smacked him in the back of the head to make him zip it.

After Ash and his Greninja were ready, Clemont said that he'll be Ash's opponent for the battle to test things, only for Trip to volunteer for the role instead. "Well it would let me keep a better eye on the data that Clembot Mini gathers," Clemont said as he allowed Trip to take his place.

The test battle began, and Trip sent out his named Abomasnow Veda to be the opponent for Ash's Greninja. "Why is it that Trip tends to use his Abomasnow against Ash's Greninja so much?" Bonnie asked as she and the others got ready to watch the test battle against Ash and Trip.

"...My brother knows what he's doing," Dawn replied as the battle between Ash and Trip got under way.

...

Alain walked into view of the Pokémon Center that the heroes were at, although he didn't yet know that the heroes were there. Alain was still on his way to Snowbelle City, as he still needed to earn one more Kalos badge in order to qualify for the Lumiose Conference. Such a competition is one that, under normal circumstances, Alain wouldn't consider entering. But Admin Hero of Team Scorn's Shield Sector drafted Alain into doing it, while holding Mairin hostage. Wanting to save Mairin, to see her safe and sound once more, is what's driving Alain here.

That, and he has to admit that it is a good way to judge his progress in becoming stronger.

As he got close to the Pokémon Center, he heard the din of battle coming from the battlefield behind it. Alain didn't pay things there much mind, up until he heard Ash's voice call out, "Great work, Greninja!"

Alain's attention was piqued by hearing Ash's voice call out just now. Ash, as Alain recalled, had some serious skill as a trainer. He also got it that Ash's Greninja had a special transformation power, although he didn't inform Team Scorn about it (it just never came up) but they found out anyway because Ash used it in battle against Boss's Assistant Ayane. "...Ash is here...?" Alain said to himself before he jogged the rest of the way to the Pokémon Center.

...

Back out on the battlefield behind the Pokémon Center, the other heroes watched on as Ash's Greninja and Trip's named Abomasnow continued to spar with one another. The two boys and their respective Pokémon seemed to actually be enjoying themselves, looked to be losing track of time. "Veda, use Seed Bomb!" Trip called out.

"Greninja, counter with Cut!" Ash ordered.

Veda fired her Seed Bomb attack at Greninja, who conjured a short blade of energy that it held in a reverse grip to slash the Seed Bombs away, countering all of them. "Alright, Greninja!" Ash cheered, "We're pushing back against Trip and Abomasnow!"

"Greninja!" Ash's Greninja cried out, sounding just as excited as Ash.

Over where Clemont was with the Clembot Mini, he turned to look at it when it began making beeping noises. "I'm getting signals here that Ash and his Greninja are about to get onto the same wavelength," Clemont said, "I think Greninja's about to transform!" Sure enough, the cloaking shroud of water appeared around Greninja as it transformed, staying there after the transformation was finished. "I believe that they have to have the same emotions as one another in order to trigger Greninja's transformation," Clemont theorized.

"So their emotions have to be in synch," Kenny reasoned, "Yet again a point in how Ash and Greninja have to be on the same wavelength."

Back to the battle, Ash called out, "Greninja, use Water Shuriken!"

"Veda," Trip said as he proceeded to use Mega Evolution, "Let's counter with Seed Bomb!" After the Mega Evolution process was finished, a now Mega Evolved Veda fired a Seed Bomb attack at Greninja, who not only countered the attack by throwing its Water Shurikens at the Seed Bombs, but it did so more eazsily and with more fluid actions.

Gesturing forward, Ash called out, "Greninja, Double Team!"

"Veda," Trip commanded, "Earthquake!"

The named Mega Evolved Abomasnow triggered a massive quake as Greninja and a squad of conjured doppelgangers rushed it. The real Greninja leapt up to avoid the hit but the doppelgangers were all busted by the seismic waves. Greninja landed back down, showing that it was far from finished. "Not bad, Trip," Ash called out, "I say that we take things here to the next-"

"It is you guys!" Alain called out, cutting Ash off and making everyone turn to look at Alain who had just shown up.

"Ah, Alain," Serena said, "What are you doing here?"

Gesturing to the Pokémon Center, Alain explained, "I stopped off here to rest my Pokémon before I continue my way to Snowbelle City. I intend to challenge the gym there as I'm one badge shy from qualifying for the Lumiose Conference."

Hearing Alain voice his intent to enter the Lumiose Conference piqued Dawn's attention. Although she knew, thanks to the XY anime in her previous life, that Alain would be entering the Lumiose Conference, he actually had no intention of entering until after his second or so battle against Ash. Here, Alain came in with the intent to enter the Lumiose Conference. Dawn knew that things happened differently here than what she remembered, but this came a bit out of left field. Dawn wondered what could of happened to make Alain ahead of schedule wanna enter the Lumiose Conference.

Dawn was about to speak up to ask Alain for his reasons, but she was cut off when she and the others all heard someone collapse onto the ground; turning to see, the heroes and Alain all saw that Ash had passed out, as did Greninja whose transformation became undone. The heroes and Alain all rushed over to the fallen Ash and the fallen Greninja to help them out, also Veda's Mega Evolution became undone.

Later, Ash and Greninja came to with everyone looking over them. Immediately, Ash looked around and to his relief saw Greninja right there. Ash let out a sigh of relief, to which Kenny said, "Well it's good that you obviously care for Greninja, but you still ought to keep an eye out for yourself."

"I guess me coming in and distracting everyone ruined your testing," Alain apologized, "Sorry about that."

Ash had an even look on his face, and looked like he was about to say something but was cut off by Greninja scowling at Alain, angrily and clearly showing great levels of mistrust towards the Mega Charizard X user. Greninja's attitude towards Alain surprised the heroes, the reborn trainers especially so. Ash, while still maintaining a neutral air, got Greninja to calm back down. "So what brings you around here?" Ash asked Alain.

"He stopped off here to rest his Pokémon before continuing on the way to Snowbelle City so he can challenge the gym there," Bonnie said, "That's what he was telling us before you passed out."

Ash looked surprised at Alain, and showed a little bit of amused excitement that got through the overall neutral air he was giving off. "You're aiming to enter the Lumiose Conference?" Ash asked.

Alain nodded in the affirmative. "I only have one badge left to go. I got it that you're entering as well, as is Kenny and Trip. Maybe I'll battle one of you guys there?" Looking to Ash, Alain went on, "I would especially like it if I got to battle you, as I wanna see your Greninja's power first hand."

"The line starts behind me," Kenny declared, "I'll be battling Ash at the Lumiose Conference first!"

"No, I will," Trip said, "The both of you will have to get in line behind me!"

The rest of the heroes, as well as Alain, let out good-natured laughing at how so many people were itching for the chance to duke it out against Ash. The good cheer had helped to perk Ash and his Greninja back up some, but Greninja was still clearly untrusting towards Alain for some inexplicable reason. Similarly, Ash still maintained a neutral air towards Alain. This got Dawn's attention, and she wanted to ask about it. But she figured it could wait until Alain was out of the groups' hair.

...

Later, after Alain's Pokémon were treated and he took off, the heroes themselves got ready to leave, with Ash's Greninja out helping with getting ready. "Hey Ash," Dawn began, getting both Ash and his Greninja to turn to look at her, "I noticed that you and your Greninja suddenly developed a frostier attitude towards Alain. Care to tell the rest of us why?"

"Yeah, I did notice how Greninja was suddenly hostile towards Alain," Trip remarked, "And that Ash although not hostile became neutral."

Ash, with a concerned look on his face, replied, "...I had a dream while I was passed out. A dream where I stood with Greninja, and I thought it was going to leave me. Greninja didn't, but an image of Alain appeared and Greninja immediately turned on the Alain image and destroyed it with Cut." The rest of the heroes were surprised to hear this, the reborn trainers especially; Dawn did remember from the XY anime in her previous life that Ash did have a dream where Greninja left him, but here the dream turned out to be wholly different.

Continuing on, Ash explained, "Greninja in the dream then gestured to where the Alain image stood and briskly shook its head, while crying out in a tone suggesting that Alain shouldn't be trusted."

"Alain shouldn't be trusted?" Serena asked, "Why not?"

Shrugging, Ash said, "I don't know. All I know is that, while we ought to remain cordial towards Alain to keep him from thinking something's up, we ought to exercise a good deal of wariness around him." Gesturing to Greninja, Ash went on, "Although Alain has given me no reason to suspect him, I'm going to side with Greninja here." Ash's Greninja seemed happy that its gut instinct was being trusted by Ash so much. Dawn took a mental note of how Greninja seemed happy that Ash was placing so much faith in its suspicions; maybe that faith will help Ash and Greninja master their power sooner and more easily?

Regardless, the heroes, once they were all packed, got up and left the Pokémon Center, intent on continuing towards Snowbelle City.

A good while later, the heroes are continuing towards Snowbelle City while the guys aside from Clemont were eating some macarons as the group walked. "Wow, these macarons you made are fantastic, Serena," Ash said.

Serena, blushing a bit due to being praised by Ash, smiled and said, "Well I was just following the recipe in the book that Trip got."

"Yeah, I was wanting to tackle the key lime pie recipe in the book first," Trip said, "So thanks for not stealing my thun-"

"TUMP!"

Trip was cut off when he and the others heard the cry of a Pokémon sound out from nowhere. Suddenly, the heroes were rushed by a wild Phantump who, to their surprise, was a shiny Phantump. The wild shiny Phantump was clearly in distress and, seeing the heroes, took to cowering behind Serena. "Hey, a wild shiny Phantump," Bonnie remarked, "But why is it scared?"

Serena was about to voice some theories, but she was cut off when a group of Team Scorn grunts came rushing up to them, headed by Jessie from the now defunct Team Rocket; James and Meowth were nowhere to be seen. "Hand over that wild Phantump, twerps!" Jessie scowled as she, with the other Team Scorn grunts, had the heroes out-numbered by about fifty percent.

"Figures that you'd want a shiny Pokémon," Clemont scowled at the criminals.

"Actually, it was part of a group of wild Phantump that we were assigned to track down and capture," one random male Team Scorn grunt said, "Also it's the only shiny from the group. Captain's Assistant Jessie here was leading us as Captain James is busy with the Captains of the Shield Sector, so he gave the job to her. We had no idea that there would be a shiny among the lot until after we saw the group of wild Phantump, although we suspect that Captain James may try to see to the shiny Phantump being given to Boss's Assistant Ayane in order to better the Kunai Sector's standing."

"That Phantump there is the only one from the lot we haven't captured yet," a random female Team Scorn grunt said while pointing to the shiny Phantump, "So let us capture it and we'll get out of your hair."

"We're also going to want that twerp's Pikachu," Jessie added while pointing to Ash, drawing confused looks out of the rest of the Team Scorn members who were present.

The wild shiny Phantump watched it as the heroes it was cowering behind took a stand against the bad humans, making it feel that the heroes could be trusted. Dawn, Kenny, and Trip were the first to send out Pokémon to fend off Team Scorn, sending out Tobias, Godzilla, and Myde respectively. Clemont sent out his Breloom, Ash sent out Noivern, Serena sent out Sylveon, and Bonnie even sent out Dedenne. Pointing at Jessie and her Team Scorn fellows, Ash called out, "You wanna try and take the Phantump behind us? You'll have to get through us first!"

"Since when did the Sinnoh girl twerp have a Darkrai?!" Jessie exclaimed while pointing at Dawn's named Darkrai. That was the last thing any Team Scorn member said before the battling began. Despite the numbers advantage, Team Scorn was swiftly defeated; Team Scorn had quantity, but it was trumped by the quality that was on the side of the heroes. Team Scorn was forced to fall back, having to content themselves that they got most of the wild Phantump that they were sent after; letting one, even though it's a shiny, get away had to be something to deal with, although Jessie said to the others as they fled to NOT tell anyone that the Phantump who got away is a shiny.

...

After Team Scorn had fled, the heroes settled down in an open area in a field to set up a picnic lunch, also to let their Pokémon rest. They were followed by the wild shiny Phantump, who seemed sad that all of its fellows had been captured. Serena, as Phantump had stuck close to her, decided to take the lead in comforting it by giving it a selection of the macarons she made. Phantump dug in quickly, and seemed a little better after eating all of the macarons. "So where will Phantump here go to now?" Bonnie asked, "I mean, if it sticks around here, Team Scorn or some other bad people will try taking it because it's shiny."

Shrugging, Kenny said, "Oh, I suppose that Phantump-"

"-Will be coming with me," Serena declared, surprising the rest of the heroes and cutting Kenny off in the process.

Shrugging again, Kenny muttered, "I was gonna say that Phantump will come with me so that I can finally have a full party's worth of shinies, but that works too."

Looking to Serena, Ash said, "You want to capture Phantump, Serena?"

Gesturing to Phantump, Serena said, "Look at Phantump, Ash! It's absolutely downright adorable, plus it's a total sweetheart! Phantump is just too precious to leave alone where it could be taken by criminals like Team Scorn!" Phantump, looking up at Serena, gave a happy cry before floating over to her and nuzzling up against her. Seeing that Phantump was in agreement with the idea, Serena proceeded to capture it, giving her a total of four Pokémon on hand, with the latest one being a shiny.

Gesturing to Serena, Dawn said, "Just so you remember Serena, Palermo had rules for Showcases in Kalos changed so that using shiny Pokémon is barred. You won't be able to use Phantump if you try for the Showcase season next year."

Serena nodded in understanding. "Doesn't mean that I still can't train Phantump, or have it help with the training for Braixen and Pancham and Sylveon for the next Showcase season. And who knows what else lays ahead in the future for me? Maybe Phantump will get a chance to shine there."

"Well of course Phantump is going to shine," Kenny said, "It's a shiny." The heroes proceeded to finish resting and having their picnic lunch before getting up and taking off once they got everything squared away.

Later on, over in Anistar City, Kalos Champion Diantha was meeting with Olympia, the leader of the Anistar City gym. "As you are the Champion of a region," Olympia said, "I figured that you'd want to know about the fate that another region's Champion, as well as her companions, will be having. That's why I had asked for you to come here, as I've had a vision of the future."

Diantha, who was taking a tip from a to-go cup of coffee, lowered her drink. "...Something will happen to Sinnoh Champion Dawn and her companions."

Olympia nodded in confirmation. "I saw a vision that offered some clarification to a vision I had concerning Dawn and her companions Kenny and Trip." Olympia then used her psychic powers to show Diantha images of three different Pokémon.

Diantha looked shocked, apparently recognizing all three that she was being shown. "I know who those are, as I've brushed up quite a bit on Kalosian lore," Diantha said, "Those three are Pokémon described in Kalos region legend. Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde." Diantha turned to look at Olympia. "You're saying that Dawn, Kenny, and Trip will be facing such awesome and powerful Pokémon?"

"They must be made aware of this development," Olympia said, "Although they are powerful enough to deal with it, they could still potentially go down if they aren't sufficiently prepared for it. Strength isn't the only power they should have, they should also have knowledge."

As Diantha nodded in agreement with Olympia, a male Psychic came running in. "Miss Olympia," the male Psychic said, "You told me to keep you up to date on Ash Ketchum once you had that vision of seeing his Frogadier evolve into Greninja, well I got his current location!"

Diantha knew that Ash was among Dawn's group, so she asked for the coordinates to find the heroes. Once she got their location, Diantha took off in a helicopter, intent on finding the heroes so that she could deliver to Dawn, Kenny, and Trip the updated info Olympia got thanks to her visions. Diantha could only hope that she would be able to get to the heroes before the got up and continued with their journey.

...

The heroes took to having a break on their way to Snowbelle City, with Ash and Trip one again at training to help Ash and Greninja master their shared power. Once more, Trip was having his named Abomasnow Veda spar with Greninja. As the other heroes watched while Clemont was keeping an eye on the data he was getting from the battle, he noticed that the wavelengths from Ash and Greninja respectively were starting to flow as if they were one in the same. "I think a transformation is about to occur!" Clemont cried out.

Sure enough, after Greninja pushed Veda back, it began to transform, the cloak of water appearing as it masked its transforming. However, after the transforming was done, the water broke away, revealing a perfected Ash-Greninja. "Alright, Greninja!" Ash cheered, "We're making progress!"

As the other heroes watching cheered, Dawn suspected that Ash was finding an easier time synching up with Greninja due to how Ash declared he was going to trust Greninja's gut instinct that something was up with Alain. Back to the battle, Trip in response to Ash's Greninja transforming went on and Mega Evolved Veda. The two powered up Pokémon proceeded to duke it out, and the perfected Ash-Greninja was able to deal a solid blow that pushed back the Mega Evolved Abomasnow.

The battle was going well, but everyone stopped short when they heard a helecoptor flying in. Looking up, Serena identified the incoming helecoptor as one used by Diantha, the Champion of Kalos. The heroes decided to put a stopper on the training, and the transformations of Greninja and Abomasnow became undone. Ash and his Greninja both fell to one knee and breathed hard out of exhaustion, but their collapse here was nowhere near as bad as past examples; perhaps it was because they had knowingly and willingly let things end. A theory that Dawn jotted down mentally for later.

The helicopter soon landed, and Diantha came out, waving to the heroes. "I'm glad I found you guys!" Diantha called out, "I need to talk to you about something that's rather important!"

Hearing that got the attention of the heroes. "Diantha needs to talk to us about something that's important?" Trip muttered to himself as the Kalos Champion came over to greet them up front.

...

Since Ash and his Greninja needed to rest anyway, the heroes decided to use Diantha's surprise visit as an excuse to take a lunch break. "So you came from Olympia over in Anistar City because she wanted to show you something," Dawn said.

Nodding in the affirmative, Diantha replied, "Olympia said that she had a vision regarding you, Kenny, and Trip a while ago."

Trip nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, apparently I'm set to confront life-bringing rains, Dawn's set to confront destructive droughts, and Kenny's set to confront winds of order. I believe that's how it went."

"Exactly," Diantha said, "Well, Earlier this morning, Olympia had another vision, one that lends more clarification to the one you spoke of just now, Trip. Olympia called me and asked me to see her, then when I met up with her she showed me images with her psychic powers to show what she had seen in her newer vision."

"Another vision?" Kenny asked.

Diantha nodded in confirmation. "A vision depicting three Pokémon spoken of in Kalosian lore. The legendary Pokémon Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde."

"Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde?" Serena asked, looking surprised as did Clemont and Bonnie.

Dawn, having predicted such info, nodded in understanding as she wore a grim look of consideration on her face. "I've got some knowledge on those Pokémon from a lore book I read a while ago. Xerneas is known as the Life Pokémon, Yveltal's known as the Destruction Pokémon, and Zygarde is known as the Order Pokémon."

"You are well read, Champion Dawn," Diantha remarked, "Yes, those are indeed how Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde are classified."

Kenny folded his arms over his chest. "The part of the vision Olympia had a while ago concerning me said I'd be confronting 'Winds of Order'. I'm guessing that Zygarde, being known as the Order Pokémon, is part of the prophesy made about me."

"In a similar vein, I bet I'm slated to confront Xerneas," Trip said, "Given it's the Life Pokémon and I'm slated to confront 'Life-bringing rains'." Looking to Dawn, Trip went on, "I guess this means you're slated to face Yveltal, due to you being destined to confront 'destructive droughts'."

"Olympia had asked me to see you three and bring you this information," Diantha said, "She believes that you ought to be made aware of this so that you can be better ready for when the time comes. She says that although you are strong enough to deal with it, you could still fail if you lack the knowledge of what to do."

"So we've been updated to give us advance warning to better our odds of getting out of things in one piece," Kenny surmised, drawing a nod of agreement out of the Champion of Kalos.

"Well warnings in advance are always helpful," Dawn remarked, finding it curious that she's apparently slated to confront Yveltal at some point; Yveltal was the cover mascot of Pokémon Y version back in Dawn's previous life, and that's the Kalos gen six game she played primarily. She had fun playing around with the gen six Pokémon back then, but really had a blast when she was able to transfer her Pokémon from older games, particularly her all star champion team from Pearl version. But things were not games for Dawn anymore, they were now real life. And confronting Yveltal in real life was going to be a very tall order, only made easier because Dawn had Tsukune and Tobias.

She felt that she would have to keep the both of them on hand for the foreseeable future, just to be safe.

As Dawn thought about all of this, Diantha asked, "So what all were you guys doing before I dropped in?"

"Oh, we were training to help Ash and his Greninja master the power between them," Clemont explained. He then proceeded to go into detail about what all is going on with Ash and Greninja, including Greninja's special transformation power. It was noted that Ash and Greninja had achieved a perfect synch, which in turn meant a perfect transformation, for the first time in a controlled environment; they actually achieved their first perfect transformation during the Team Scorn siege over in Gloire City a short while ago, but it was a heat of the moment thing that was believed to be a one time deal until Ash and Greninja mastered things properly.

Diantha seemed intrigued by the idea of the special power shared between Ash and his Greninja. "Would it be possible for me to see this power in action?" Diantha asked, "It does sound intriguing."

"We literally just saw the first perfected transformation in a controlled environment right before your arrival interrupted the training," Clemont explained, "And both Ash and his Greninja are still resting after the transformation was undone, we don't wanna push them."

"Although as a note," Dawn said, "Ash's and Greninja's exhaustion after the transformation was undone was the least severe yet. They usually pass out when undoing things, this time they only fell to one knee but were able to stay awake."

Diantha smiled in sincere amusement. "Well either way, it sounds like you are making progress." Getting up, Diantha said, "Well maybe Ash will have things there down pat by the time of the Lumiose Conference. I'll be there as well, as a special VIP watching things. So hopefully I'll see things there." The Champion of Kalos then took off, wishing the heroes luck in their journey.

After Diantha was gone, the heroes looked to Dawn, Kenny, and Trip. "So you three are going to have to confront Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde at some point," Serena said, "You guys think you can do it?"

"We're the only ones with Pokémon powerful enough to go toe to toe with big names like those three," Kenny replied, "So we ought to be ready. Unless of course you want Ayane to somehow get to them."

"Yeah no," Bonnie instantly said, "That would take an already nightmare-ish scenario and make it even worse." The heroes agreed that, if and when the time came, they would do what they could to support Dawn, Kenny, and Trip. Hopefully they'll be able to settle things well enough, especially as things are looking to get far more heated than what Dawn remembered they should be for Kalos.

END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND NINETY-TWO

Author's notes;

This chapter focuses mainly on Ash and his Greninja mastering their shared power, and introduces the wrist mounted monitor devices Clemont made to help study things. They're interrupted by Alain, whose arrival distracted the heroes long enough for Ash and Greninja to both pass out. The two awaken later, but Greninja for some odd reason is suddenly untrusting of Alain. Ash maintains a neutral attitude until Alain takes off, after which point Ash reveals he had a (shared?) dream involving his Greninja indicating that Alain can't be trusted. Although he doesn't have much proof (if any at all) to not trust Alain, Ash nonetheless is going to put his faith in Greninja and its suspicions, which makes Greninja happy.

Later, the episode with the shiny Phantump is covered, and a group of Team Scorn members rallied by Jessie capture all of the Phantump from that group save for the shiny, which the heroes defend and chase Team Scorn off. Serena ends up catching the shiny Phantump, giving her a total of four Pokémon. After that, the heroes are tracked down by Diantha who informs them of what Olympia had foreseen concerning Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, leading the heroes to suspect that the legendary Pokémon Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde will be showing up. Ash and Greninja also achieve their first perfect transformation in a controlled environment, and Dawn suspects that Ash deciding to put his faith in Greninja's suspicions towards Alain may have helped things along there.

The next chapter will see some more training to master the special power between Ash and his Greninja, as well as the heroes finally making it to Snowbelle City. Until then, take care.
