Chapter One-hundred and ninety-nine: The Hoenn Weather Report

Dawn, Kenny, and Trip were flown from Kalos to Hoenn, after they said their good-byes to the rest of the heroes while promising to see Ash and Serena again in Alola soon enough. May and Max even went along too, as they live in Hoenn, so this would save them trip fees. The reason why the reborn trainers were being zoomed over to Hoenn was because of Steven, the Champion of Hoenn, needing their help in dealing with an event of great, dire importance in the Hoenn region, one that only Dawn, Kenny, and Trip had the means to deal with.

The event in question? The legendary super-ancient weather trio, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, had awoken and were now all rampaging about.

The helicopter that Steven took the reborn trainers, as well as May and Max, in landed in Lilicove City. Even from where they landed, looking in the direction of Mossdeep City they saw the dark stormy skies that were a sign that Kyogre was over there. Steven then directed the group he brought with him to the local Contest hall, were a number of people were gathered. Mostly local persons of note in Lilicove City, although the Fortree City gym leader Winona was also there. Additionally, May and Max's parents were there, with Norman running up to May and Max, gathering the both into a hug, and actually crying his eyes out in relief.

"Yeah May and Max," Steven said, "Your parents when they got it I was bringing you two along came right over to Lilicove City."

"Why are we meeting in Lilicove City?" Kenny asked.

"Steven there," Winona began as she put a hand on her surprisingly notable belly, "Decided that the crisis control for dealing with Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza acting up should be marshaled here."

Looking to Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, Norman said after letting go of May and Max, "Steven also said that you three are the ones he's bringing in to help try to quell those three legendary Pokémon."

Dawn nodded in the affirmative. "I think he wanted us for the job because Kenny, Trip, and I all own legendary Pokémon capable of going toe-to-toe with the likes of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza."

Max nodded in understanding. "Counter big name legends with other big name legends. Fair enough."

"That's the plan," Steven said, right before leading everyone over to a large table that had a map of Hoenn on it. Also on the map were small figures of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, one each at different points. "Winona had set this map up for me at my request while I was bringing in Champion Dawn and her group," Steven said, "The map depicts Hoenn, and the figures of the legendary Pokémon currently rampaging show where said legendary Pokémon are."

The figure of Kyogre was on the map near Mossdeep City, further cementing the idea that Kyogre is over there. Similarly, the figure of Groudon was over near Fallarbor Town, and the figure of Rayquaza was located near Pacificlog Town. Looking up from the map, Dawn said, "Alright, so one each between me, Kenny, and Trip will go to a different one of the locations marked out on the map here to deal with the legendary Pokémon." Pointing at where the figure of Groudon was located, Dawn said, "I'll head to the area of Fallarbor Town, where Groudon is located."

"I'll zoom over to Mossdeep City after being provided with a raincoat to wear," Trip said, "I can tackle Kyogre."

"And I'll go to this Sky Pillar place near Pacificlog Town and ask Rayquaza if it has heard the word of cringe," Kenny said while pointing to Rayquaza.

Nodding once in understanding, Steven said, "Fair enough. You three ought to prepare yourselves before you get going."

Dawn and the boys told Steven that they planned to do so if they were allowed the chance. The three reborn trainers prepared their respective parties for the battles ahead of them. Given they were going to be confronting major legendary Pokémon, Dawn was bringing Tsukune, Fangfang, and Tobias along, Kenny was bringing Black and Porunga along, and Trip was bringing Deelia and Tetsu along.

Dawn rounded her party off with Ieyasu, Akiza, and Luan; Groudon was most likely going to be packing Earthquake as one of its attacks, which would spell major disaster for Dawn's beloved named Infernape Chi-Chi. Leni, being a Lucario which is part steel type, was also eliminated for a similar reason, hence why Dawn's Mega Evolution capable Pokémon she was bringing was Ieyasu, whose partial flying type will save it from Groudon's Earthquake. Akiza and Luan, Roserade and Weavile, were going along because grass and ice are both strong against ground.

Trip rounded things off in his party with Myde, Fourze, Tsunade, and Veda; Kyogre was bound to be packing strong water attacks which Myde, Tsunade, and Veda can tank, also Veda can Mega Evolve. It wouldn't surprise Trip if Kyogre knew Ice Beam, hence why Veda was Trip's chosen Mega rather than Dovahgex, also Myde can easily tank ice attacks. Fourze went along due to type advantage, also with the rains, it would make sense if Kyogre somehow also knew Thunder which bypasses the accuracy check while it's raining. Fourze can power up from Thunder due to Motor Drive, Tsunade as a Gastrodon is part ground type thus immune to electric attacks like Thunder, and Veda's resistant.

Kenny to round off the cringe posse he's bringing to bear against Rayquaza is Shallot, Wigglytuff, Hisoka, and Android 21; Shallot and Android 21 are Glaceon and Weavile respectively, both ice types which can bring a lot of hurt to the dual dragon flying Rayquaza. Wigglytuff, Kenny's gangsta Wigglytuff, is a fairy thus immune to dragon, and Hisoka is the same deal as Wigglytuff. As a side note, May expressed surprise that Kenny didn't nickname his Wigglytuff despite the fact that all of his other Pokémon have nicknames. Kenny explained that his Wigglytuff's nickname IS Wigglytuff, having been given that nickname as a Jigglypuff when he caught it.

When the reborn trainers were all ready, they all went off in different directions, flying on the backs of their legendary dragons from Sinnoh to confront the major legendary Pokémon of Hoenn.

Even as she approached the area of Fallarbor Town while riding on Tsukune's back, Dawn could feel things getting more heated, could see the strengthening sunlight. And right as she flew overhead of Fallarbor Town, Dawn heard the rumbling of the ground below shaking. Dawn looked around, kept her eyes and ears open to look for and hear out signs of where Groudon was acting up. She had Tsukune stop midair, stayed flying up as they looked around. Eventually, Dawn saw an eruption of power coming from some mountainous area going west from the local Pokémon Center.

"Tsukune, go in that direction!" Dawn said as she pointed the way, prompting her named Palkia to fly off in the direction where the burst of power had just erupted. As she and Tsukune got closer, Dawn saw the red ridged top of Groudon's head, making Dawn's heart skip a beat as she knew she was getting close to confronting Groudon itself. After a few more moments, Dawn was close enough to see Groudon going about, kicking up rubble every which way. Groudon's back was to Dawn as it hadn't seen or heard her approach yet, giving Dawn the chance to score a sneak attack.

"Tsukune, use Flamethrower!" Dawn ordered, prompting Tsukune to open its mouth wide and fire a Flamethrower at Groudon's back. Given that the sunlight was strong, no doubt due to Groudon's Drought ability, Tsukune's water attack Surf would be weakened despite still being super effective. But fire attacks like Flamethrower would be powered up, and Dawn was hoping to inflict a burn on Groudon as, halving its physical attack aside, it would hurt Groudon over time, making bringing it to kneel a hell of a lot easier for Dawn as she fought to quell the legendary Pokémon.

Groudon was surprised when it was hit in the back by a Flamethrower attack, then it turned to see Dawn on Palkia fly in. With Groudon's attention on her, Dawn flew around, landed on the ground away from but in front of Groudon, got off of Tsukune, then sent Fangfang out to back Tsukune up. "Tsukune, use Flamethrower!" Dawn called out, "Fangfang, use Dark Pulse!" Once more, the named Palkia fired a Flamethrower at Groudon, also the named Yveltal fired a Dark Pulse at Groudon. Dawn saw that luck was on her side there, as not only did Tsukune's Flamethrower inflict a burn on the second try, but Fangfang's Dark Pulse made Groudon flinch.

Groudon was shaking off the flinch, and when it finished it was pained by its burn. "Tsukune, use Spacial Rend!" Dawn called out, "Fangfang, use Dark Pulse!" Dawn's two legendary Pokémon cast their attacks at Groudon again, and Dawn scowled when Dark Pulse failed to score a second flinch in a row; keeping Groudon flinching would have been helpful in bringing it to kneel. After recovering from the assault, Groudon rushed towards Fangfang and struck at it with Slash, scoring a moderate hit that thankfully was nerfed by Groudon's burn, which pained it after it had attacked.

Gesturing forward, Dawn called out, "Tsukune, use Spacial Rend! Fangfang, use Oblivion Wing!" Tsukune conjured and cast another Spacial Rend at Groudon, dealing another solid blow. As for Fangfang, not only did its Oblivion Wing let it fully heal what damage it took from Groudon's Slash, but it hit Groudon on its burn mark which had the effect of scoring a critical hit, making Groudon cry out in a pained, gasping cry before it stumbled back a few heavy steps, then fell over face first as it collapsed onto the ground, having been beaten down into submission by Palkia and Yveltal working together.

Seeing that Groudon was down, Dawn took out one of her spare Master Balls she got from the Kalos Poké Ball Factory, expanded it, and threw it at Groudon while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!" The Master Ball flew at Groudon, bumped into it, then took it inside before falling down to the ground with a light clink. It then shook around for a few moments before making a ping sound, telling Dawn that she had just captured Groudon. Dawn breathed a sigh of relief as Groudon's rampaging had just ended, and already Dawn was seeing signs that Groudon's capture was letting things calm down; the sunlight and heat were lessening in intensity, and the ground wasn't shaking.

Dawn then went over to collect the ball that held her newly caught Groudon, picked it up, and scanned it with her pokédex. It was genderless, had a jolly nature, and the Drought ability. Dawn also saw that it did indeed come knowing Earthquake, meaning she was right in rotating Chi-Chi and Leni out of her party for their own safety. Groudon also knew Slash, as well as Bulk Up and Fire Blast. As she was going to be working with Groudon, Dawn planned to work with that moveset a bit, have Groudon pick up some new moves, and Dawn even had some ideas on what to have Groudon learn.

Looking at the ball that held Groudon, Dawn said, "I'll be naming you Kurumu." The ball that held the now dubbed Kurumu was then sent to Oak's lab in Pallet Town, Kanto, and Dawn, having finished her part, decided to head back to Lilicove City after she took a moment to catch her breath.

Trip felt he was wise to ask for that raincoat, as it saved him from getting totally soaked by the rain as he flew Deelia over into the direction of Mossdeep City. Given that it's basically surrounded by water, Mossdeep City made for a good place for Kyogre to hit up, now that Trip gave the notion some thought. He just hoped that Kyogre will end up being easy enough to find, that way Trip can minimize how long he has to be out in this soaking rainfall. Trip's pretty sure that he'll catch a cold if he's out in the rain like this for long enough; Ash caught a cold when splashed that one time as he didn't dry off properly.

Trip, as he thought about how lucky Serena was when Ash held onto her for a moment, was distracted when he and Deelia heard a roar like whale cry. Looking around, he saw Kyogre swimming around near the northern shore of the sandbank near Mossdeep City. Trip had Deelia land, then got off, called out Tetsu, then pointed at Kyogre while calling out, "Deelia, use Roar of Time! Tetsu, use Thunderbolt!" Dialga and Xerneas charged up and cast their attacks, both of them hitting Kyogre along its side and making it turn to see who had attacked it. It let out an angry cry as it got closer in order to engage in battle.

But Trip saw Kyogre flinch a bit in pain, then saw small arcs of yellow electricity dance along Kyogre's body; Trip had successfully paralyzed Kyogre, meaning battling it had just become loads easier. Trip saw that Deelia was still flinching due to the recoil of using Roar of Time; Kyogre's a water type thus resistant to steel moves like Flash Cannon, also it's resistant to Deelia's Ice Beam, and Trip wasn't sure if Earth Power would reach from the floor of the waters surrounding everything, unless the attack would blow up in Kyogre's face from the sandy shores along the island Mossdeep City's located on

Luckily for Trip, Kyogre's paralysis kicked in during Deelia's stunned turn, so it couldn't attack either, it was just a sitting Golduck that ate the second Thunderbolt that the named Xerneas cast at it. After Deelia got over its stun from using Roar of Time, Trip decided to gamble on if its Earth Power WAS capable of hitting Kyogre given the surroundings. "Deelia, use Earth Power!" Trip called out, "Tetsu, use Thunderbolt again!" As it turned out, Earth Power DID erupt into Kyogre's face from the sandy shore, and it had the effect of the special defense drop, meaning Tetsu's Thunderbolt struck for extra hurt.

Kyogre's paralysis did not kick in again, meaning it was able to get its Ice Beam off and hit Deelia, dealing moderate damage but at least it didn't freeze the named Dialga. Trip then called for another round of Earth Power and Thunderbolt, and although another special defense drop didn't occur, both attacks did hit harder thanks to the first one that did. And Kyogre's paralysis kicked in, meaning it didn't attack again, making that a free round for Trip and the two legendary Pokémon that he brought with him to tango against Kyogre. Trip, from what he was figuring, was hoping two more rounds may be sufficient.

...Or a single burst at the end. "Deelia, use Roar of Time!" Trip called out, "Tetsu, use Thunderbolt!" Once again, the named Xerneas used Thunderbolt on Kyogre, and after that the named Dialga followed up by casting its Roar of Time attack, blasting Kyogre and eliciting a pained cry. Trip, to his surprise, saw Kyogre sitting there, its eyes winced closed out of pain, as it breathed hard out of exhaustion. Trip saw this as his chance; taking out one of the Master Balls that he got at the Kalos Poké Ball Factory, he expanded it and threw it at Kyogre while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!"

The Master Ball flew at Kyogre, bumped into it, took it inside, then fell onto the sandy shore with a muffled light pat. It then shook for a few moments before making a ping noise, indicating that Trip had just captured Kyogre. He let out a sigh of relief and, as he recalled Deelia and Tetsu, noticed the rain lightening up already. Did capturing Kyogre cause the rains to lighten up, as if deprived of the source that kept it going? Regardless, Trip went over to collect the Master Ball that held his Kyogre, picking it up to scan with his pokédex to get the lowdown on Kyogre's details.

"...I'm naming you Cameron," Trip said, dubbing his caught Kyogre before the ball containing it was sent to Oak's lab. Trip figured that, given the rains were lightening up, and that Mossdeep was close to Lilicove, he'll get there before Dawn or Kenny. Of course, he has to wait for Deelia to catch its breath enough to permit for riding it back over. Even though the rains were lightening up, they were still going, and it was still fairly heavy. Trip, with an annoyed look on his face, looked up at the rains as he made a gesture as if gesturing for the rains to hurry up and stop already.

Kenny, as he flew Black to the top of Sky Pillar, figured that it was a good thing Dawn wasn't sent after Rayquaza; these winds would send her hair flying, and it would annoy her. Kenny remembered, back in his previous life, that Dawn then Don had long hair and got annoyed when the wind messed with it. Here, it proved no different as Dawn liked her hair long and staying down. It also didn't surprise Kenny when Dawn used her named Palkia as a threat to make persons offering to cut her hair back the hell down, something Dawn when she was Don would have done if the means were available back then.

It would seem that hair isn't serious business for just the fairer sex.

Eventually, Black was able to fly Kenny to the top of Spear Pillar, where Rayquaza was sitting there, making the winds go crazy. "Come forth eternal dragon Rayquaza, and grant my wish!" Kenny yelled, loud enough to be heard over the winds. Rayquaza heard Kenny's words, and it got so confused that the winds actually lessened for a moment, enough for Kenny to call out Porunga to back Black up. "Black, use Dragon Claw!" Kenny ordered, "Porunga, use Dragon Pulse!"

Rayquaza was actually the first to attack as it blitzed forward with Extreme Speed, but it tried hitting Black without being aware Black's partial ghost typing made it immune to normal attacks like Extreme Speed. In fact, all that Rayquaza accomplished was put itself right within easy clawing reach for the named Giratina, allowing its Dragon Claw to make contact quickly. Rayquaza was pushed back, just enough to be in perfect position to receive Dragon Pulse from Porunga, resulting in another heavy blow for the legendary Pokémon in this triple dragon battle.

Rayquaza tried using Extreme Speed again, this time on Porunga. Seeing Extreme Speed work on the named Zygarde brought a measure of relief to Rayquaza, but it got blasted by a point blank range Dragon Pulse from Porunga, then it was struck by Dragon Claw from Black. At the current rate, Kenny estimated that Rayquaza will end up going down after one or two more rounds. Kenny was worried when Rayquaza struck Black with Dragon Claw, as he noticed that Rayquaza saw that Dragon Claw had the desired effect on the Pokémon that was immune to the previous attack it used on it.

"Black, use Dragon Claw!" Kenny called out, "Porunga, use Dragon Pulse!" Rayquaza blitzed ahead with Extreme Speed again, hitting Porunga for another solid blow, but Rayquaza for its troubles ate another point blank DRagon Pulse, then was clawed at by the named Giratina who was using its own Dragon Claw. Rayquaza shook for a moment before falling over onto the roof of Sky Pillar, breathing hard out of exhaustion. Kenny, seeing his opportunity, took out one of his Master Balls he got from the Kalos Poké Ball Factory, expanded it, and threw it at Rayquaza while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!"

The Master Ball flew at Rayquaza, bumped into it, took it inside, then fell to the roof of Sky Pillar with a light clink. It shook around for a few moments before it made a click sound, indicating that Kenny had captured Rayquaza. "Heh, and Iris says she's a dragon master," Kenny muttered to himself in an amused tone as he walked over to collect the ball that held his new Rayquaza, "Who's got three dragon Pokémon that are all legendary?"

Kenny, as he noticed the winds dying down, picked up the ball that held Rayquaza and scanned it with his pokédex. After seeing Rayquaza's details, Kenny said while looking at Rayquaza's ball, "You're totally being named Shenron, it just fits." Kenny then saw the ball containing Shenron be sent to Oak's lab, thankful that he only had to use one ball and not seven. When the winds settled down enough, Kenny got onto Black's back, recalled Porunga, then took off for Lilicove City, wondering how Dawn and Trip had done with their respective targets.

To Trip's surprise, he found that he was the last between him, Dawn, and Kenny to get back to Lilicove City; Dawn apparently was the first, and Kenny arrived a moment after Dawn. Trip arrived five minutes after Kenny did. He was figuring that the distance between Lilicove and Mossdeep would mean he'd have the quickest time, but as it turns out waiting for the rains to settle down enough, combined with letting Deelia shake off the rest of its stun, made the difference. Trip also learned that Dawn flew in on Fangfang rather than Tsukune, mostly because she wanted to try things out that way.

The reborn trainers when they were all gathered back in Lilicove City informed Steven of their success. Steven nodded in agreement, saying there's reports all over Hoenn of the crazy weather dying down already, which told Steven before the three heroes got back that they had succeeded. He was also amazed that they had caught their respective targets, but Steven saw it as a good thing as all of that power would be brought to bear against Team Scorn. Team Scorn only had Reshiram, but each of the reborn trainers on their own had three big names to the one Team Scorn laid claim on, a total of nine to their one.

The odds that the rest of the world had against Team Scorn's evil had just gone up significantly.

To further help Dawn and the boys against Team Scorn, shrine keepers from Mt. Pyre, having heard that Groudon and Kyogre were quelled, came by and presented the Red and Blue Orbs, saying that if held respectively by Groudon and Kyogre, it would allow them to access greater levels of power. Similarly, a girl heavily resembling Zinnia from the ORAS games except she wore an ankle length skirt and baggy long sleeved blouse also she wore glasses, having heard of Rayquaza's quelling, came by to see Rayquaza. It actually came knowing Dragon Ascent, which the girl said was good.

"Now Kenny," the girl said, "I'm going to teach you the prayer to trigger Rayquaza's Meg-"

"Come forth eternal dragon Shenron," Kenny said as he held his hands up to the skies above, "And grant my wish!" Kenny, having rotated Shenron into his party at the girl's request, began trying to Mega Evolve it when he learned he had the means to do so.

Sighing in a mildly exasperated tone, the girl said, "That is NOT the prayer to say to Lord Rayqu-" The girl got cut off when Kenny's named Rayquaza began Mega Evolving anyway, and it worked to perfection, showing everyone Mega Rayquaza. "...That worked?!" the girl said, surprised beyond all belief that Kenny's made up prayer to Rayquaza actually worked to trigger its Mega Evolution. Kenny, out of curiosity, asked for a handwritten copy of the actual prayer, saying he may need to study it to learn more about the people who revered Shenron.

After Kenny got the handwritten copy of the actual prayer to trigger Rayquaza's Mega Evolution (despite Kenny's own version actually working just as well) and the girl took off, the reborn trainers were able to join Steven and the rest of the people gathered at his crisis control for dealing with the super-ancient weather trio for a big ol' celebratory picnic party. The picnic party was just the event that Dawn and the boys felt they needed to have to unwind from what all they had just done, and a nice way to cap off their current journey before returning home to Twinleaf Town, Sinnoh.

A return home Trip was looking forward to, as Twinleaf Town was his new home.

...

During the picnic, the reborn trainers talked with Steven, and Kenny who asked Steven about why Winona was temporarily off of gym leader duties got a rather surprising answer from Steven. "Winona's pregnant?" the reborn trainers all exclaimed in unison.

Nodding once in the affirmative, Steven said, "Yep, and I'm the father. It's why I said it's my fault."

"Well look at you, Steven," Kenny said, "A boy becomes a man."

"I'm a little more than double your age, Kenny," Steven pointed out dryly.

Gesturing to Kenny, Dawn explained to Steven, "Kenny's just congratulating you in his own way, Steven. But seriously, congratulations! I bet you're really excited about how you're going to become a father!"

"Yeah and don't tell my father," Steven replied, "He doesn't know yet. I wanna keep it secret so that Winona and I can spring it on him."

Trip was about to speak up, but he was cut off when the party was rushed by a bunch of news reporters, all clamoring for a scoop with Steven. Some wanted to know about the sudden ceasing of the bizarre weather events in Hoenn, some wanted to know why he's been seen so frequently as of late in the company of Winona who had gone on leave from her gym leader duties, and a few when they spotted Dawn asked Steven about what work he's doing with the Sinnoh Champion, also a few of the reporters tried to hound Dawn as well.

It took a solid five minutes to get all of the reporters to vamoose, with Steven saying that a representative from his father's company will answer all questions pertaining to what the public is allowed to know. Steven still had to throw in a few tidbits to satisfy the reporters anyway. After the reporters were all gone, Steven and the reborn trainers all let out relieved sighs.

It was as they were relieved that Winona came over to them. "What was that all about?" Winona asked.

"Ehh, it was some BS," Trip replied.

Dawn, looking at Winona with a curious look, said, "Is... is that a smear of peanut butter on the side of your face with a strand of sauerkraut on it?"

Sighing, Winona said, "Yeah, my pregnancy has me craving the weirdest foods. Right now, I had just made up and eaten part of a peanut butter and sauerkraut sandwich."

"Uhhg," Kenny remarked in a mildly disgusted tone.

"Wait, you only ate part of it?" Dawn asked.

Gesturing to the group, Winona said, "Well I saw what was going on here, so I sat the rest of my sandwich down on one of the picnic tables to come over and see what was going on here."

Trip was about to speak up to say he understood, only to be cut off by May saying, "Hey, a wild Pokémon wandered over to one of the picnic tables and holy crud what the heck is it?!"

The reborn trainers, Steven, and Winona all turned to see what May was talking about, and to their surprise they saw May pointing out, of all things, a wild Latios. The Latios, despite his station as a legendary, was STILL a wild Pokémon that had standard wild Pokémon wants and needs, mainly looking for food. As such, it must have smelled the food on the picnic tables for the party and came over hoping to forage for food. The reborn trainers then saw Latios sniff at what Winona identified as the rest of her peanut butter and sauerkraut sandwich, took a bite out of it, apparently liked it, and proceeded to horf down the rest.

"Hey! It's eating my sandwich!" Winona snapped.

Seeing that the Latios just wanted food and wasn't actively trying to cause trouble, Dawn went over to the table and, after finding some bread slices, the peanut butter jar Winona had used, and the thing of sauerkraut, made up another peanut butter and sauerkraut sandwich. Then then offered it to Latios who, after sniffing at it and taking a bite, let out a happy cry and took the rest of the sandwich from Dawn and proceeded to horf it down.

Shrugging, Kenny said, "Huh, well go figure. Who would of ever thought it that legendary dragons can be tamed with the power of sandwiches?"

Dawn apparently was able to satisfy Latios's hunger with one more sandwich, then she offered it some of the fruit punch in the pitcher, getting a glass only for Latios to take the whole pitcher and drain it dry. After drinking all of the punch, Latios let out a happy cry before resting its head on Dawn's left shoulder, nudging against her head affectionately like a pet would. Dawn decided to seize the opportunity and asked Latios if it was interested in joining her, implying there would be more food and drink in store later. Latios, like other Pokémon easily bought with promises of being kept fed, accepted.

Dawn was even able to do the job of catching Latios with a regular poké ball, as Latios was agreeing to come along. Scanning Latios's ball with her pokédex, Dawn saw it was male, had a timid nature, and the Levitate ability. "You have any ideas on what to name him?" Kenny asked.

"Yeah, I'm naming him Lincoln," Dawn replied, before the ball containing the now dubbed Lincoln was sent to Oak's lab, "Wow, I never thought that we'd encounter Latios like that."

"Latios? That was Latios?" Winona said. Turning to look at Steven, Winona asked, "Hey Steven, didn't you say your dad had something connected to the legendary Pokémon Latias and Latios?" Hearing that Steven's dad Mr. Stone apparently had something connected to Latias and Latios piqued the interest of the reborn trainers, all of them wondering what it could be.

After a quick trip to Rustburo City, the reborn trainers were able to finally catch the plane ride home to Twinleaf Town, Sinnoh. After recovering from jet-lag, Trip went about setting up the room set aside for him to his liking, as it was his room from this point moving forward. As for Dawn, she set up her awards and other such symbols from the journey in Kalos. Dawn's Kalos badges were framed and hung on the wall with the other framed collections of regional badges, and Dawn put her Honor of Kalos medal in its own individual frame, which was hung with other individually framed awards.

Dawn then sat down on her bed, shifted around a bit to pull her bag onto her lap, and fished out a Soul Dew; it had been given to Dawn by Steven's dad after he was shown that Dawn had caught Latios. Dawn was sort of expecting Latios's Mega Stone instead, but this was a nice surprise in its own right; either way, Lincoln will be doing more damage, especially as Dawn planned to tackle training Lincoln properly, as well as get to work on Fangfang and Kurumu. Dawn put the Soul Dew back into her bag, put her bag on the floor, and fell back onto her bed, letting out a tired sigh.

Eventually, after everyone had rested and was ready, the reborn trainers got ready to head out to the Alola region; Johanna was coming along as well as she was going to help oversee the setting up of Alola's Pokémon Contest circuit. Lila was also going as she was helping Johanna, also she wanted to study the fashion of Alola. Dawn and the boys were also looking forward to what Alola had in store for them, especially as they were expecting to meet Ash there, as well as Serena as she and her mom Grace moved to Alola due to Kalos getting too dangerous for the moment for Grace's tastes.

Dawn hoped that Alola will be a lot more peaceful than the last few regions, especially Kalos.

...

(UNKNOWN LOCATION, JOHTO REGION)

Captain Zed of Team Scorn's Katana Sector stood with his Captain's Assistant Kenji as they were reporting to Admin Brother, who looked unamused. Matsuoka, who along with Kenji and Shimono were freed by Brother and got their Pokémon back from the authorities, leaned against the wall off to Brother's right. Zed tried opening his mouth to talk, but immediately zipped it when Brother raised a hand in a gesture telling Zed to zip it. Seeing that Zed was going to remain silent, Brother knew he would be able to start things the way he wanted.

"I hope you realize that the efforts that Team Scorn is making in Alola and Paldea to get new sectors set up in those regions," Brother began, "Which stretch manpower thin in various areas, is the main reason you're still being kept on as an Officer."

"Admin Brother, I can explain-" Zed began, but he was cut off when Brother held his hand up again in a gesture to make Zed zip it.

Lowering his hand, Brother remarked, "You were told not to let anything happen to Shimono and Matsuoka, and yet not only did you let them get captured in that lesser mission in Johto, your Captain's Assistant was ALSO captured. To make matters worse, I didn't learn of it until shortly before loads of Champions from various regions went to Kalos to attend a special event! You're lucky I was able to get all of Team Scorn's guys who were captured, as well as get their Pokémon back. I'm not sure if it was due to incompetence or, as Shimono implied to me, a deliberate bid to shake the supervision I assigned to keep watch over you. If it's the latter, then I'll have to report your actions to the boss himself, knowing him he'll wanna know."

Zed knew that he was in big trouble now, and was only keeping his Team Scorn Officer commission due mostly to luck. Leaning back in his seat, Brother asked, "Any questions before I give you your next assignment?" Holding up a hand, Kenji waited to be called on, and proceeded when Brother gestured to him. "I was asking Zed, but if you have any questions Kenji I'll answer them too," Brother remarked, sounding notably calmer and more in a good mood when addressing Kenji than he was in addressing Zed.

"Admin Brother, sir," Kenji began, "I was actually simply wondering where your Admin's Assistant was."

"I asked Shimono to take Akari away from my office for a bit and keep an eye on her," Brother explained, "I didn't want her being around for when I grilled Zed because I didn't wanna risk scaring her." That turned out to have been the only question Zed and Kenji had between them, so Brother proceeded to assign them their next task. "You guys are to head to the Alola region," Brother began.

Looking surprised, Zed said, "The Alola region, sir?"

"Admin Mage is still trying to get the Scarf Sector of Team Scorn set up properly," Brother explained, "And he's short on manpower. The fledgling Scarf Sector is also dealing with trouble from local sources in Alola, particularly this Team Skull group I got reports of from Admin Mage's First Captain. Admin Ninja of the Kunai Sector in the Hoenn region has already sent his sector's Captain James to help things out there. You will simply supervise the rank and file as they set things up, and lead only minor skirmishes against Team Skull if they pop up in enough numbers in one case."

Saluting Brother, Zed said, "Sir, yes sir!"

"But remember to have the knowing consent of Admin Mage before you lead any charges," Brother said firmly, "Remember, he's a superior officer." Zed as well as Kenji saluted Brother one more time before they were dismissed. After Zed and Kenji were gone, Brother let out a tired sigh.

"That doofus is the epitome of dumb luck," Matsuoka remarked dryly.

"Tell me about it," Brother said, "But neither you nor Shimono are ready yet to rise to a Captain position, so I don't have an excuse to demote Zed and promote one of you guys yet. I wish I did though, especially as I can't help but shake the feeling..." The Admin in charge of the Katana Sector of Team Scorn in the Johto region gave a gentle, worried and disappointed shake of his head.

"...That Zed will do his worst screw-up yet in Alola."

END, CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE

Author's notes;

This chapter sees the reborn trainers go to Hoenn to help quell Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, with Dawn, Trip, and Kenny respectively catching them. They also get some power-ups for their new legendaries, including a Soul Dew for the Latios that Dawn tamed with sandwiches, proving that legendary dragons can be befriended with a good enough sandwich. The reborn trainers then return home to Twinleaf Town, where they relax for a bit and set a few things up before they as well as Johanna and Lila head off to the Alola region.

Speaking of, Admin Brother of the Katana Sector of Team Scorn, after he busts Zed's chops for letting three men get caught, sends Zed and Kenji to Alola to help Admin Mage get the Scarf Sector up and running in Alola; James is also mentioned to be there. After Zed and Kenji are dismissed, Brother confides in Matsuoka that he worries Zed will carry out his biggest blunder yet in Alola. Only time will tell though, as the next chapter will begin the adventures in a new region, and how those adventures will go will be an adventure in and of themselves.
