Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter Two-hundred and one: School days with new friends
Kukui was leading Dawn, Kenny, Trip, Ash, and Serena to their classroom at the Pokémon Trainer School on Melemele Island. "As you five are students as of today," Kukui said, "I figured that letting you get used to the classroom and meeting your new classmates would be a good idea, yeah?"
"...There's gonna be a bunch of wacky homeroom shenanigans, isn't there," Trip said dryly, sounding more like he was making a statement than asking a question.
Dawn was about to speak up, but was cut off before she could get even one syllable out when Kukui said, "Ah, here we go! Class 1-A!" The heroes looked at the door leading into their homeroom, they saw it resembled the average door leading into the average classroom at the average public school; the only addition was a sign over the window on the door that said 'Class 1-A'. "Any questions before we head inside so you can meet your new classmates?" Kukui asked.
Holding up a hand, Kenny said, "Ah yes, can I be the one who gets One For All?"
Dawn smacked Kenny in the back of the head. "Sorry about Kenny being goofy, Kukui-sensei," Dawn said, "He's... still getting used to the idea of being in school again."
"This will also be a learning opportunity for me," Kukui said, "Given that all of you are foreign born students. I've only taught students who are Alola born and raised, so I've been wondering how kids born and raised in other regions, growing up in other cultures, function."
"...You seem more receptive to foreigners than the general attitude of Unovans right now," Trip remarked, "I mean I myself am Unova born and raised, but I really don't like the slant my birth region has taken as of late. I'm far more aligned with my adoptive region of Sinnoh, they're far more chill with foreigners compared to Unova."
"Yeah, the guys running things in Unova aren't very chill towards foreigners," Kukui remarked, "But Alola's attitude towards foreigners is essentially the inverse of what Unova's got going on. We love having foreigners come on by, yeah?"
"So we can expect a warm welcome from our classmates, then," Serena replied.
Kukui nodded in confirmation. "Mallow and Kiawe, who you kids have previously met, will be some of your classmates. And I got it that they had already filled Lana, Lillie, and Sophocles in on how you five helped to drive off a gang of Team Skull members and a gang of Team Scorn members. The whole lot of them are bound to be wanting to get to know you five."
Ash, smiling in amusement, replied, "Well I'm sure I speak for all of us here when I say that we're looking forward to meeting them too." Kukui nodded to acknowledge what Ash said before he turned around to open the door leading into the homeroom he taught, leading Ash, Serena, and the reborn trainers inside to meet all of their new classmates at the Pokémon Trainer School.
...
Inside of Kukui's classroom, Mallow was leading a conversation with her classmates Kiawe, Lana, Lillie, and Sophocles. Kiawe pitched in here and there, but he sat at his desk while giving off a tired air; the result of having gotten to school literally just after making a delivery to Ula'ula Island. As such, the tired Kiawe allowed the pepped up Mallow to lead things in the talk.
"Seriously!" Mallow said, "The one boy used a Greninja that transformed! And then Dawn, and I still seriously can't believe that Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz is in Alola now, used this one Pokémon called Latios to help drive off Team Scorn!"
Holding up a hand, Lana said, "Hang on, I got it that Latios is a legendary Pokémon described in the lore of the Hoenn region. You're telling us that Dawn had used a legendary Pokémon against Team Scorn?"
"Well she used another legendary Pokémon in the title match where she defeated Cynthia and took her place as the Sinnoh Champion," Sophocles pointed out, "It does not come to me as a surprise that she'd be able to get more than one."
Lillie nodded once in agreement, and was about to speak up but was cut off by Kiawe letting out a yawn. "Are you okay?" Lillie asked Kiawe.
"I'm still tired from the delivery I made before coming to school," Kiawe explained, "Hopefully we'll be able to take it easy and-"
"Now that I am here class is in session!"
Kiawe was cut off when he and the others turned to look in the direction of the door leading into the classroom. As such, they saw Kenny standing there, striking a pose as if he's a shonen hero. The rest of the heroes came in, with Dawn smacking Kenny in the back of the head, followed by Kukui walking in after the new students. "Yo everyone, here are your new classmates," Kukui said, "Let's give 'em a warm Alolan welcome, yeah?"
"It's them!" Mallow said as she pointed to the heroes, "Guys, those are the trainers who helped drive off Team Scorn yesterday!"
Looking over, the rest of the class were surprised to see the heroes come in with Kukui. "...That really is Dawn Berlitz," Lana muttered to herself.
Sophocles saw that, with the exception of Serena, all of the heroes wore Z-Rings. "...You guys all have Z-Rings," Sophocles remarked. His attention was piqued by seeing a glint on Ash's Z-Ring. "...And you got a Z-crystal."
"How did you get it without competing in the island challenge?" Kiawe asked, "That's an Electrium Z, and it's not easy to come by."
Ash held up the Z-Ring he wore, looked at the Electrium Z on it. "It was given to me by a Pokémon called Tapu Koko, believe it or not."
"How is it that Tapu Koko," Kiawe began, "The guardian deity of Melemele Island, obtained a Z-Ring? Also, why did it give it to you?"
Shrugging, Kenny replied, "Who can guess what goes on in the mind of that Tapioca Pokémon?"
"It's pronounced Tapu Koko," Lillie corrected.
Looking at his Z-Crystal again, Ash wore a serious look on his face. "...So I can now use Z-moves, like what Kiawe did against Team Scorn. This could come in handy against them." Lowering his wrist, Ash went on, "But I know next to nothing about it. I need to learn more if I'm to use Z-moves to stop Team Scorn in its tracks."
"The responsibility of Z-move users is very tough," Kiawe said, getting Ash's attention, "Especially so as Z-moves let one unleash great power. But the fact that you're taking this seriously, that you want to use said power for good, shows that you will do the role as a Z-move user honor."
Clapping his hands together, Kukui said, "Anyway kids, your next class will be under Samson, so have fun. Oh, and help your new classmates settle into life here as school, yeah?" The rest of the students agreed, leaving Dawn, Kenny, Trip, Ash, and Serena the impression that they were going to have a good time attending classes at the Pokémon Trainer School.
...
After school that day, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip returned to where they were staying, at a fancy hotel on Akala Island. The Hano Grand Resort to be specific. Johanna and Lila were staying there as they worked with the locals in getting Alola's Pokémon Contest scene started up. Kenny's mom and little sister were also there, and Kenny's little sister was running around the main lobby, chasing and being chased by Jibanyan, Hovernyan, and Lin, as Kenny supervised them.
"Was the Exeggutor costume really necessary for Alolan Oak to wear?" Trip asked, arching a wry eyebrow in confusion.
"He's eccentric like that, but he has his reasons," Dawn replied, "It did help with his lesson he taught on regional variants."
Trip gave his sister an amused smirk. "You certainly threw our classmates born and raised here in Alola for a loop when you mentioned the battle that Iris and Rimu fought back in Sojourn City in Kalos, before the Champion's Favor Pokémon Showcase. How Rimu had used a Pokémon called Clodsire that evolved from a regional variant of Wooper found in the Paldea region."
"It apparently took Samson by surprise as not even he was aware that some regional variants could evolve into entirely different species," Dawn went on, "He also was surprised to see what Professor Oak told him about you, me, Kenny, and Ash having regional variant Pokémon from the Hisuian period of Sinnoh's history is true, and had asked us to bring them to the next class he taught on regional variants."
"Hey guys, quick question," Kenny asked without looking away from his little sister or his cat Pokémon, "Don't Sandshrew and Sandslash have regional variants found here in Alola?"
Dawn thought about it for a moment before she nodded in confirmation; she had to remember a bit first. "Oh yeah, Alolan Sandshrew and Alolan Sandslash. They're ice types rather than ground types, and I believe that Alolan Sandslash gains the steel typing."
"Yeah, a dual ice steel type will not like fire or fighting," Trip said.
Looking to Kenny, Dawn began, "Kenny, why do you a-"
"I believe that Elay could use an apprentice to teach da weys to," Kenny replied, "As such, I'm making it my goal to track down and capture an Alolan Sandshrew."
Dawn let out a sigh; she remembers Elay, Kenny's shiny Sandslash who has a penchant for harassing Jessie, James, and Meowth who are all formerly of the now defunct Team Rocket but are now of Team Scorn. Kenny's plan here, should it come to fruition as he wants, will see TWO Sandslashes fond of harassing the Team Scorn trio. Dawn could only hope that things will end at Elay influencing just the Alolan Sandshrew that Kenny intends to capture. She also bet the tongue clicking of not one but two Sandslashes will have a tendency to keep people in the surrounding areas awake at night.
The worst nightmare for the Team Scorn trio.
The following day at school, the heroes were surprised to see that the Alolan born classmates had sprung a party on them to properly welcome them. During the initial greetings, Sophocles and his Togedemaru issued a challenge to Ash. When he initially assumed it was a battle challenge, Sophocles said that it wasn't a challenge to a battle, but rather a challenge to a game.
"I had set up a balloon popping challenge beforehand," Sophocles said, "For us to compete in by send in my Togedemaru and one of your Pokémon. The winner is determined by who pops the most balloons." Gesturing to Ash, Sophocles went on, "I figure that you'll be wanting to use your Pi-"
"Come on out, Greninja!" Ash said as he called out his Greninja. Gesturing to Greninja, Ash said, "I'll be using Greninja for this challenge. It can also serve as training for Greninja using Water Shruiken."
Sohpocles, taken a bit aback by the surprise, said, "Very well. But I have to warn you, I'm pretty good at the balloon popping challenge." With both boys having picked one of their Pokémon each to compete, the competition was a go. Togedemaru got an early lead by rushing in and popping a few of the balloons with its spikes, but then Ash caught up quickly by calling out, "Greninja, use Double Team then Water Shuriken!"
Ash's Greninja rushed in as it conjured multiple doppelgangers of itself, then all of them leapt up into the air and threw a much of Water Shurikens at as many of the balloons as they could hit. As a result, Ash's Greninja got the remaining balloons, vastly outpacing Togedemaru and winning the challenge for Ash. Sophocles looked kind of surprised to see that not only did Ash beat him, but did so as quickly and easily as he had just done.
"Did Sophocles just lose a balloon popping challenge?" Lana said, "That's never happened before! Ash, you and your Greninja are amazing!"
Ash nodded once in thanks to Lana. "Thanks, I-"
"MARU!" Sohpocles's Togedemaru cried out in a clearly angry and pouty tone, right before it leapt up while crackling with electricity and rammed itself right into Ash's Greninja, making it cry out in surprise and pain.
"Hey, Sophocles!" Mallow snapped, "What's with your Togedemaru attacking Ash's Greninja with Zing Zap like that?"
Shrugging, Kiawe said, "Well Sophocles's Togedemaru is something of a sore loser. Probably didn't take too kindly to losing a balloon popping challenge for once."
...
The next challenge saw Lana issue a swimming challenge to Trip; she would have issued the challenge to Ash, but Ash had been left a little unamused with the show of poor sportsmanship from Sophocles's Togedemaru, something that Dawn pointed out Sophocles hasn't made Togedemaru apologize for yet. Trip accepted the challenge, and chose his named Empoleon Myde to swim against Lana's Popplio. "Oh, Trip got one of those from Kahuna Hala," Kenny said, "It was eating crayons when the lads and I first saw it."
"Trip got a Popplio..." Lana said, "...That was eating crayons."
"I had to explain to Suzaku that he couldn't survive on a diet of crayons and lighter fluid," Trip said, "And also discourage him from gnawing on peoples' end tables. If left to his own devices, my Popplio won't eat, he'll unleash pure chaos." Lana, shaking the surprise from her with a vigorous head shake, proceeded to continue with the competition between her and Trip.
Lana's Popplio, although off to a good start, was soon overtaken with ease by Myde, who proved to be a far more adept, faster, and stronger swimmer. As such, Trip ended up taking the challenge. "I guess you didn't choose to use your own Popplio because you had only recently just gotten him," Lana said, "And you wanted to use one of your more experience Pokémon, right?"
Shrugging, Trip said, "That's one way to look at it, yeah."
Stepping forward, Kiawe said, "Now it's my turn to issue a challenge, and-"
"-I accept!" Kenny spoke up, drawing everyone's attention.
Kiawe, with a mildly stunned look on his face, replied, "I... was gonna see if Ash was feeling better and challenge him if he was, but I guess this works too."
"Yeah, I would have sat out as I'm still annoyed with the behavior from Sophocles's Togedemaru earlier," Ash remarked, a mildly annoyed scowl on his face. Serena, who stood next to Ash, nodded in agreement with him while wearing an expression that showed she too was annoyed.
...
Kiawe's challenge, which ended up being against Kenny, was a Tauros race. "Depending on how the Tauros racing looks," Serena said, "I may tell my mom about it as she wants to introduce Rhyhorn racing to Alola."
"I just hope that Kenny remembers to fasten himself to the seat properly," Dawn said as the racing began, "Otherwise, he may experience an incident similar to the one that you had with the Shar-"
"AHHHH!"
Dawn was cut off when she and the others heard Kenny scream out; looking over, they saw that the Tauros Kenny was on had not only managed to buck him off, but send him flying over the race track, soaring through the air like an early dream of mankind. Kenny ended up crossing the finish line first because of this, but had crashed down on a table that was nearby. Everyone ran over to Kenny to see if he was okay, but by the time they got there Kenny had already gotten himself up and was in the middle of dusting himself off, no worse for wear.
Dawn, a suspicious look on her face, went to check the Tauros that Kenny had bucked off. To her surprise, the seat mount on the Tauros showed signs of being faulty, like the gear on the Sharpedo that had bucked Serena off a few days prior. "...Kiawe," Dawn began, "Please tell us you didn't deliberately sabotage the seat on Kenny's Ride Tauros that he was using."
"What are you talking about?" Kiawe said as he got off of his Tauros, "I would never do something like that, especially as it'd risk serious harm to others!"
Stepping forward, Serena said, "Maybe the gear's just faulty on its own, like the mount on the Ride Sharpedo that I had used."
Dawn them pointed to a sign of damage on the seat mount, one that not only looked fresh so it wasn't the result of natural wear and tear combined with carelessness in maintenance, but in no way could have been caused on accident. "...Someone had deliberately sabotaged Kenny's Ride Tauros's seat mount," Dawn said, a grim look on her face. This alarmed the others, who all agreed to end the challenges for the time being. Besides, it was time for lunch anyway according to Mallow.
Later during lunch, the heroes were all eating outdoors. Dawn saw that Kenny was feeding his cat Pokémon and Cell Jr. the shiny Rowlet, and that they were the only ones he had out. "My other on hand guys are Roshi and Shenron," Kenny explained, "Big tough looking dudes one and all. That Lillie girl seems skittish around Pokémon as a whole, so I figured that it'd be a wise idea to feed only the small little ones who mean no harm."
"Row rowlet," Cell Jr. said in a bored monotone, "Rowlet let row row."
Nodding once, Kenny said, "Yes yes, I know Cell Jr. You're too depressed to mean harm to anyone."
Dawn acknowledged Kenny's point; looking over, Dawn saw that Lillie was refraining from getting close to any of the present Pokémon. Dawn, figuring that it's freak Lillie out if she saw the bigger, tougher looking Pokémon up close, wisely decided to bring out just two of the Pokémon she had on hand. The first being Kirara, her Litten that she got at the same time Kenny got Cell Jr. and Trip got Suzaku. The second one was Foamy, her Pachirisu who she caught because she more or less decided on a whim that she wanted to catch and raise a Pachirisu.
Dawn had honestly rotated Foamy into her party because she figured since Kenny was going about with his cutesy Pokémon, Dawn herself should. There was the benefit of there being bagels at the lunch, a variety of them with a variety of cream cheese spreads to go with it. And Dawn was even able to make up Foamy's favorite; jalapeno bagel with jalapeno cream cheese spread. The named Pachirisu happily ate his really spicy bagel treat, surprising Mallow as she'd figure a cute Pokémon like Pachirisu would be more drawn towards sweets.
While the heroes and their Pokémon ate, they were surprised when they heard a random cry. Looking over, the heroes saw Tapu Koko come wandering over to their lunch site. The Alolan classmates were surprised to see Tapu Koko, but the guardian deity of Melemele Island wandered over to Ash. "Thanks for the Z-Ring again," Ash began, "I'm going to-"
*swipe*
Ash was cut off when Tapu Koko suddenly grabbed his hat then turned around and ran off. "My hat!" Ash exclaimed as he ran after Tapu Koko. The rest of the heroes, as well as the Alolan classmates, were forced to run after Ash after they had recalled all of their Pokémon.
...
Ash ended up chasing Tapu Koko into the forest, were after a bit Tapu Koko turned around and tossed Ash's hat back to him, before crying out boldly in a challenging manner to Ash. As the rest of the class caught up to Ash, Ash realized that Tapu Koko wants to battle him. Smirking in amusement, Ash said, "You didn't have to grab my hat and lead me on a chase if it was a battle you wanted. I'm game to throw down!"
Tapu Koko cried out before its Electric Surge ability activated, casting Electric Terrain on the area they were in. It cast a Dazzling Gleam at Pikachu, who countered with its Thunderbolt. Tapu Koko then charged at Ash, but did so to trigger power within his Z-Ring. "...It wants me to use a Z-Move," Ash realized, then he and Pikachu began to make the required pose in order to use the Electric Z-Move. "Let's go, Pikachu," Ash called out, "Gigavolt Havoc!"
"PIKA!" Pikachu cried out as it charged up and fired the electric Z-move, throwing it right at Tapu Koko and causing a huge bursting explosion. Ash then saw that the Electrium Z on his Z-Ring shatter, then looked up and saw Tapu Koko after the dark gray smoky cloud from the explosion had settled. It nodded a few times at Ash, as if impressed by the potential Ash had shown, then turned around and flew off.
After Tapu Koko was gone, Kiawe walked up to Ash, picked up one of the small fragments from the shattered Electrium Z. "...It's still too early for you to use Z-moves, as you have not completed any trials," Kiawe said to Ash, "But it's clear that Tapu Koko gave you the Z-Ring, the Electrium Z, then lured you out here because it wanted to test you in some way. From the looks of it, I'd say you've earned a bit of Tapu Koko's respect." Kiawe dropped the small Electrium Z fragment. "Ash, take the Island Challenge. Prove you're worthy of the respect you had earned from Tapu Koko."
Nodding once in understanding, Ash said, "Got it. I'll take the island challenge, earn more Z-crystals!"
"As will the lads and I!" Kenny announced, making everyone turn to look at him as he gestured to himself, Dawn, and Trip, "Or are we not allowed?"
"On the contrary," Kiawe said, "One does not necessarily need the approval of one's island's local guardian deity to participate in the Island Challenge." Gesturing to the reborn trainers, Kiawe said, "And you three also have Z-Rings. It would be wise of you to take the Island Challenge to get Z-crystals so that you can learn the power of Z-moves, as well as unleash said power on Team Scorn." The reborn trainers nodded in agreement and, with nothing else stopping them, they took off back to school.
The next day in class, the rest of the class was surprised when Ash introduced the Rotom Dex to them. "You guys can count on me for information on any Pokémon!" Rotom Dex declared, "Go on, test me!"
Smirking, Dawn said, "Alright, let's give you a challenge." Dawn then called out Tobias, her named Darkrai. Gesturing to Tobias, Dawn said to Rotom Dex, "Give us information on Tobias's species here."
Right away, Rotom Dex was stumped. "...Hmm... I don't have too much on this... this Tobias species-"
"Tobias is its nickname," Dawn clarified, "It's species name is Darkrai."
"D-D-D-Darkrai?!" Rotom Dex stammered, "A mythical Pokémon said to be the embodiment of nightmares?! That's Darkrai?!" Surprisingly, Tobias merely held a hand up to Rotom Dex, towards one of its arms, as if offering a handshake. The named Darkrai also gave a friendly and casual greeting. Rotom Dex, surprised by how calm and civil the Darkrai was being, ended up accepting the handshake.
Dawn then recalled Tobias after it was confirmed that what Rotom Dex had exclaimed about Darkrai was literally all that it had on Darkrai. At that point, Kukui came into the classroom. followed by Samson. Clapping his hands together, Kukui said, "Alright kids! Today's lesson is field work! Also Ash, since you have the Rotom Dex now, you ought to look into capturing some Pokémon here in Alola!"
"Awesome!" Ash cheered, and the rest of the class got excited as well.
...
In the forest, the heroes and their classmates were all looking around. "Oh boy oh goody oh joy oh boy," Kenny said as he rubbed his hands in eager anticipation, "I can already smell the potential of adding a new member to the cringe posse!"
Ash let out a mildly amused chuckle before Serena called out, "Hey, that wild Pikachu over there doesn't look too hot..." Everyone turned their attention and saw a wild Pokémon that looked to be about as big as Pikachu, and it sort of looked like Pikachu, but it wasn't a Pikachu.
"That's a wild Mimikyu," Sophicles said, "But it's odd that we found one all the way out he-"
"KYU!" the wild Mimikyu cried out angrily before it made a vicious lunge at Ash's Pikachu.
"Goodra!" Ash called out as he sent in his Goodra, "Knock it back with Ice Beam!" Ash's Goodra took aim at the vicious Mimikyu and blasted it away with Ice Beam, sending it flying through the woods and far away from the heroes. Letting out a tired breath, Ash said, "What was up with that Mimi-"
"...kyu?"
Ash was cut off when he and the others heard another Mimikyu call out, and turned around looking for it. They eventually spotted another Mimikyu, but it was a monotone grayish color compared to the pale yellow one that tried to maim Ash's Pikachu. Even the red marks on this Mimikyu resembling Pikachu's red cheeks were grayed out, as was its stick tail. The parts on this Mimikyu that were black were unchanged from the regular Mimikyu that Ash sent blasting off with an Ice Beam thanks to his Goodra.
"That's a shiny Mimikyu!" Sophocles exclaimed, "I never thought we'd encounter a wild shiny Pokémon!"
Shrugging, Kenny said, "For the lads and I, encountering wild shinies is most every Tuesday."
The wild shiny Mimikyu faced Ash's Pikachu which stood on the ground. It clearly seemed nervous about approaching, and also clearly had no ill intent. Pikachu, sensing this, walked up to the shiny Mimikyu and offered it a handshake. Surprised, the shiny Mimikyu stood still for a moment, as if looking down, then gave a happy cry as it went right up to Pikachu and hugged it with a shadowy arm. "Now that's more in line with how Mimkyus are supposed to behave," Sohpocles said, "They're described as lonely Pokémon who only want to make friends and be in their company. So much so they disguise themselves as Pikachus due to how that species is popular."
Ash, smiling gently, remarked, "Hey Mimikyu." Getting the shiny Mimikyu's attention, Ash said, "Pikachu and I would be glad to be friends with you. What do you say to coming along with us?" The shiny Mimikyu gave a happy cry and leapt up into Ash's chest, nuzzling against him as it sounded like it was crying out of happiness. Ash then proceeded to capture the shiny Mimikyu with a regular poké ball.
"Aww, it's so sweet how Mimikyu just wanted to be friends with you and Pikachu, Ash," Serena remarked, "Although that first Mimikyu was awfully vicious."
"Speaking of," Mallow began, "I wonder what became of it?"
...
Later, in a Team Scorn base that had been set up nearby, James and Meowth watched as Jessie was supervising the Team Scorn medical team as they treated the Mimikyu that they found with chunks of ice on it. "Why did you catch that scary Pokémon, Jessie?" Meowth asked.
"And why did you steal the Luxury Ball I had and used it to catch the Mimikyu?" James added.
"Boys, I feel that it's destiny that I catch that Mimikyu," Jessie explained, "I feel as if it'll help us assist Admin Mage in getting the Scarf Sector of Team Scorn set up!"
Sighing, James said, "Whatever. Since I'm the officer responsible for you, I'll have to send word to Admin Ninja that you caught a new Pokémon. We should probably also tell Admin Mage that-"
"Tell me what, Captain James?" a male voice called out, making James as well as Meowth and Jessie turn to see that Admin Mage had entered the room. Looking over to where the Mimikyu that Jessie was revealed to have caught is being treated, Mage said, "Whose Mimikyu is that?"
"Jessie caught it earlier," James explained, "Less than half an hour ago, actually. We found it randomly while surveying the area with a team of the guys. It had hunks of ice on it. Jessie thinks it was attacked by a wild ice type Pokémon, but I'm not sure if any live native to this island of Alola."
Mage cracked his neck a bit. "Maybe it ran afoul of a trainer who had an ice type Pokémon, or at least a Pokémon that knew an ice type move. Either way, since Mimikyu was clearly caught as a personal Pokémon by and for a specific Team Scorn member and not part of a horde caught en masse to give more Pokémon to Team Scorn as a whole, make sure you fill out the necessary report for the Mimikyu that Captain's Assistant Jessie had caught and submit it to your Sector's Admin." To James, Mage said, "Anyway, I came by because I heard you and your group came back with something, and I wanted to see what it was. I guess that it's the Mimikyu that's receiving treatment right now."
James nodded in confirmation, then after Mage confirmed there were no other issues, he excused himself, but not before lingering behind for one last bit. "...Since the Scarf Sector is a bit low on manpower due to starting up," Mage said, "Other Sectors are sending help to assist with getting things up and running. You and your group from the Kunai Sector in Hoenn is one such example. Admin Brother of the Katana Sector in Johto is sending his sector's Fourth Captain, Zed, as well as Zed's Captain's Assistant Kenji."
"I heard about Zed," Meowth said, "He got into some major trouble for specifically going after the family of one of the twerps that Team Scorn's got dossiers on, and then he let his Captain's Assistant plus two members filling special roles get captured by authorities."
James nodded in agreement. "There's no telling if it was an accident or if Zed intentionally let them get caught."
"Either way," Mage said, "Zed coming here is equal parts helping with getting the Scarf Sector set up and Brother sending Zed to reform school. He's asking that I try to straighten Zed out." The Admin in charge of the Scarf Sector arched a wry eyebrow at James. "Captain James," Mage began, "Can I count on you, as well as Captain's Assistant Jessie and your talking Meowth, with getting Zed to straighten up and fly right?"
Giving Mage a salute, James said, "You can count on me, Admin Mage!"
Mage nodded once in acknowledgement to James, happy to have his support, then turned around to leave. However, Mage stopped short when Jessie called out, "Umm, Admin Mage, sir? I... have a question." Mage turned around to face Jessie, who looked mildly unsure about what she was going to ask. "I... I heard a rumor," Jessie began, "That you... that you killed a Pokémon with your bare hands. Is the rumor true?"
To Jessie's surprise, as well as that of James and Meowth, Mage nodded in the affirmative. "Yeah. It was a Druddigon that was sent to viciously attack Aya, my Admin's Assistant. You guys saw Aya, saw the big scar on one of her arms from a gash wound? Yeah, that was from the Druddigon I vanquished. Why else do you think some of the Captains native to the Scarf Sector have given me the nickname 'Dragonslayer'?" Admin Mage then took off, but Jessie, James, and Meowth all were left with a very valuable lesson they had learned.
Do NOT mess with Admin's Assistant Aya. Admin Mage WILL make you pay for it if you do.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND ONE
Author's notes;
This chapter covers the first few days of school for the heroes and their new classmates, as well as see Ash get the Rotom Dex. Ash here also gets to catch a Mimikyu because he failed to catch one in the anime when he tried so he gets one here. To differentiate Ash's Mimikyu from the one Jessie ends up getting, Ash's Mimikyu is shiny. Speaking of Jessie, she as well as James and Meowth are told (i.e. warned) by Admin Mage that Captain Zed's coming, also Mage confirms that he did indeed kill a Pokémon when Jessie asked about it.
The next chapter will see a few more catches, which ought to bump Ash up to a full party. He'll be seeing a few more catches in Alola here than he normally would; Dawn may also see a catch that's planned for her. You won't BELIEVE some of the Pokémon that can be found in the wild on Alolan Route Three. It'll throw some of the heroes for a loop, that's for sure! Until then, take care.
