Episode 118: Lyra's Keyblade
A few hours have passed Tracey's new Scyther has regained his confidence in his strength and himself after being caught by the young Pokémon Watcher. Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Angel, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi decided to take a stop to have a break.
"This spot should do," Tracey said.
"Should do. Let's give our Pokémon a chance to have some fresh air," Sora said.
"Good idea," Kairi said. Sora took out his Pokéballs and tossed them.
"Okay, Teddiursa, Phanpy, Noctowl, Marill, Houndour, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Quagsire, Gligar, Natu! Come on out!" Sora called out. Kairi does the same thing.
"Flaaffy, Skiploom, Quilava, Sunkern, Furret, Misdreavus, Ledyba, Unown, Smeargle, Celebi, come out!" Kairi called out.
"Venonat, Marill, Scyther! Come out!" Tracey called out.
All of their Pokémon came out of their Pokéballs.
"Scyther!" Scyther yelled out, scaring all the Pokémon except for Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, Celebi, Tracey's Venonat, and Tracey's Marill.
"It's okay, guys. This is just Tracey's newest Pokémon. There's nothing to be afraid of," Sora said.
"Quil," Cyndaquil squeaked.
"You haven't met yet, have you?" Tracey asked. "Scyther, say hello to everyone."
"Scyther!" Scyther yelled out. The Pokémon ends up being more scared.
"It's going to be hard for Scyther to make friends when he's scaring everyone just by saying hello," Kairi said. Togepi jumped out of Kairi's arms. "Togepi, wait!" Togepi walked up to the elderly Mantis Pokémon and gently pats his feet.
"Toge, Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"Scyther," Scyther blushed.
"Toge, Toge, Togepi!" Togepi chirped.
The other Pokémon saw that he won over Togepi and approached with smiles on their faces.
"Scyther was won over by Togepi's cuteness," Sora said.
"What did you expect, Sora? Togepi's not afraid of anything. Even the Heartless couldn't scare him," Kairi said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Bi!" Celebi said, going around Scyther. Celebi smiled.
"Celebi wasn't afraid at all," Tracey said.
"No, it wasn't," Kairi said. "How about we make our newest member feel welcome with a meal he won't forget."
"My thoughts exactly," Sora said.
Kairi got to work on preparing some special Pokémon food for such an occasion. She mixed in a variety of berries and fruit she gathered and prepared it for the Pokémon. Scyther took a bite of the Pokémon food Kairi has just made and it made his taste buds dance.
"Scyther," Scyther said with his face lighting up.
Meanwhile, Ash sat by himself and he looked up to the sky. He was still thinking about what happened to Cascade in the realm of darkness.
"Cascade. If only I could have done something to save you," Ash said as he sighed. Ruby then appeared before him.
"Is something troubling you, Ash?" Ruby asked. Ash turned around and saw Ruby approaching him.
"Ruby, when and how did you get here?" Ash asked.
"I have my own way. But there's something troubling you. I sensed it," Ruby said.
"Well, since you came all this way, I might as well take it off my chest. My friend Leaf and I had a run-in with someone wondering the realm of darkness. And I'm trying to figure out a way to get her out," Ash said.
"Her?" Ruby asked.
"You heard me right. It was a girl named Cascade. She's been lost in the realm of darkness for Arceus only knows for how long," Ash explained. Ruby sighed.
"Cascade. She's alive after all," Ruby said. Ash was surprised to hear her say it.
"You know her?!" Ash asked.
"I do. It was so long ago. I met Cascade, Gaia, and Viento separately. Gaia came to me first, so he asked me about the Unversed. Their origins still eludes me up to this day. Viento then came to me, and he and I fell in love. We spent months together, but he had to leave to find his two friends. I knew we couldn't truly be together, because I am immortal and he is not. Finally, I met Cascade, but I had to tell her that Master Eraqus was struck down by Gaia and Master Xehanort," Ruby said.
"Cascade mentioned that Xehanort wanted to get his hands on something called a X-Blade. Do you know anything about it?" Ash asked. Ruby shook her head.
"I'm afraid I don't know. Any records of this X-Blade must be lost, or maybe it never existed at all," Ruby said. Ash didn't know what to believe about the X-Blade, but he had to consider the possibilities. But he had to ask about Gaia and Viento.
"What about Viento and Gaia? Cascade said he became a vessel for Xehanort, but what about Viento?" Ash asked. Ruby was saddened by Ash's questions. But they all had the same answer.
"I don't know. I simply don't know. Gaia is simply gone, but I still can sense Viento somewhere. I just don't know where to look," Ruby said. Ash knew he couldn't help her there even if she did ask him. He didn't know how he was going to help her.
Back in Johto, just when everyone were about to take off when Lyra and her Marill arrived.
"Hey, you guys!" Lyra greeted. Sora, Kairi, and Tracey saw Lyra and her Marill approaching them.
"Lyra!" Kairi said.
"Eevee!" Angel said.
"Haven't seen you since Azalea Town! How's it been?" Sora asked.
"Things have been going great! How about you?" Lyra asked.
"Well, I won the Hive Badge from Bugsy in the Azalea Town Gym. He gave me a real run for my money," Sora said.
"What have you been up to, Lyra?" Tracey asked.
"Looking for you actually," Lyra said. She walked up to them. "I heard rumors that Team Rocket is at a dissary from their defeats," Lyra said.
"What do you mean dissary?" Sora asked.
"Okay, I heard from someone that Team Rocket's reputation has taken a critical blow and it's plummeting fast. So, Marill and I were out looking for you and we wanted you tell you about it," Lyra said.
"You could have contacted us on our PokéGears, you didn't have to come all this way to tell us that," Sora said.
"But we're glad you did tell us, because nothing could make us happier to know that not everyone is afraid of them," Kairi said.
"I knew you would be. I thought it would be best if I told you in person," Lyra said.
"That could also mean many criminals might not want to join Team Rocket just so their reputations can be intact," Tracey said. Just then, several Heartless appeared from out of the blue. These Heartless each has a thin, nimble body structure with dark brown skin and yellow, glowing eyes. It seems to wear a white balaclava over its head, orange bracelets, a flat, yellow hat, and a yellow-orange cape. It also wears baggy pants that are yellow-orange with white lower legs, a red, sash-like belt, and black boots with toes that curl upward. It has four-fingered hands and very thin legs and arms. Its Heartless emblem is on its chest. It wields two crescent-shaped scimitars that have silver guards and handles, red inner edges, and black outer ones; the hilts are screwed on, allowing them to be shifted around and to have the scimitars attached to each other akin to a chakram. These Heartless are known as the Luna Bandits.
"Heartless!" Sora exclaimed as he summoned his Kingdom Key. He held it tight as the Luna Heartless came at them by raising their scimitars. Sora clashed his Keyblade against their swords and he slashed through one. Kairi summoned her Destiny's Embrace and joined Sora in the fight. Pikachu, Angel, and the other Pokémon joined in to fight the Luna Bandits. Pikachu gave them a shock with Thunderbolt, destroying them.
Shadows, Neoshadows, Novashadows, and Bit Snipers appeared as well.
"More coming!" Kairi warned. Sora and Kairi were holding their own, but more and more Heartless were showing up. Kairi casts her ice spell, freezing some of them. Pikachu and Angel shattered the frozen Heartless with their combo Iron Tail. More and more of them were still coming. The other Pokémon held their own against the Heartless, but they were having the same kind of trouble with them as Sora and Kairi. Lyra was helpless, wishing she could just do something to help.
"Lyra, look out!" Tracey shouted. Lyra opened her eyes and she screamed as she shields herself. A flash of light quickly surrounds her. Appearing in her hand is a Keyblade. This Keyblade is shaped like Lugia's neck. Lugia's snout serves as the Keyblade's teeth. The guard has the design of Lugia's wings. The Keychain token is a miniature Lugia. This Keyblade is known as the Soul Silver Lugia. Lyra felt she was holding something her hand and she gasped in surprise when she saw what she was holding.
"I have a Keyblade now?" Lyra asked. She held it firmly and she used it to destroy the attacking Heartless. "Sora, Kairi! I'm fighting right beside you!" Sora and Kairi saw she now has a Keyblade of her own. Sora and Kairi nodded and they fought off the Heartless. Several more Shadows appeared, but they fought them off as did the Pokémon. The Heartless were dealt with, but something else was coming.
"Something's coming," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Just then, a new Heartless emerged from the ground. It has large crimson claws and dark green wings. It has a dark yellow torso and its Heartless emblem is located right on the chest. It has a light green octopus-like head and the traditional yellow Heartless eyes. I shall name it the Dark Cthulu. It unleashed a powerful roar that almost made the whole forest shake.
"That one must be the ringleader," Sora said.
"I'm thinking you're right," Lyra said, holding her new Keyblade. She remembered how hard Sora, Kairi, and Ethan fought hard against Ansem and the Heartless before him. Now it was her turn to fight the Heartless. She, Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel charges forward as Tracey and the other Pokémon watches on.
The Dark Cthulu began by swinging its claws at the Keyblade wielders, but they dodged. The Dark Cthulu spews blue fire from its head. They kept their distance from the flames. Lyra casts a fire spell for the first time and struck the Dark Cthulu in the face. The Dark Cthulu clapped its claws together and unleashed lightning, striking Sora, Kairi, and Lyra hard. They came at the giant Heartless hard and swung at the Heartless. The Dark Cthulu then summoned several octopus-like Heartless to aide it.
They had the same Heartless yellow eyes and their symbols are on their foreheads. They functioned like the Red Nocturnes, Blue Rhapsodies, and Yellow Operas. Some of the octopus Heartless. I think I'll call these Red, Blue, and Yellow Octopus. The Red Octopi fired some fireballs as the Blue Octopi fired some ice. The Yellow Octopi fired lightning at them. Sora and Kairi uses their Magnet spells to gather the Octopus Heartless into the vortex and then they slashed through them. Hearts come floating upwards.
Lyra kept it up by slashing at the Dark Cthulu's claws. A light green tentacle grabs her by the leg and she is being pulled up.
"Lyra!" Kairi gasped.
"Get your hands off her, Heartless!" Sora yelled, but another light green tentacle grabs him. Pikachu uses Iron Tail to cut the tentacle, letting Sora go. The severed tentacle dissolves into darkness. Lyra's Marill rushes to her Trainer's rescue in order to save her.
"Marill, wait!" Kairi called out. Lyra's Marill didn't listen, because saving Lyra was all that matter to her. Lyra's Marill fired Water Gun in the face. The Dark Cthulu used another tentacle to grab her.
"Marill!" Lyra gasped. She used her Keyblade to cut herself free and she gave the Dark Cthulu a slash across the face. The giant Heartless dropped the Aqua Mouse Pokémon, but Lyra caught her just in time. "I got you, Marill! Are you alright, sweetie?"
"Marill," Lyra's Marill said, hugging her.
"I'm glad you're safe, too, Marill," Lyra said, hugging her back. She stood up and glared at the Heartless who was still standing. "Stay behind me. I'm going to protect you, Marill." The Dark Cthulu came at the newest Keyblade wielder, but Lyra jumped out of the way and she gave the Dark Cthulu one final slash across the face. Sora and Kairi slashed the Heartless across the chest. The Dark Cthulu then fell to the ground. A heart is seen floating up in the air before it vanishes. The Dark Cthulu's body vanished as well. "And don't ever mess with my Marill."
Sora walked over to her and raised his Keyblade.
"Heal!" Sora casts his healing spell on her. Lyra is surrounded by green soothing light and plants before they vanished. Lyra looked up to Sora. "First Ethan, now you. I didn't expect this."
"Me neither," Kairi said, approaching Lyra. "For some reason, you were chosen to hold a Keyblade of your own."
"Well, I couldn't just let you deal with those monsters on your own, so I wanted to help out anyway I could," Lyra said. She stood up on her feet. "After all, you're both my friends." Sora and Kairi both smiled.
"Yeah. Friends helps each other out," Sora said.
In the World That Never Was, Xemnas sat in his throne. Saïx enters through the corridor of darkness.
"Lord Xemnas, another wielder of the Keyblade has been chosen in Johto," Saïx reported.
"My prediction has come to pass. One more in Johto has yet been decided," Xemnas said.
"I agree. I have sent some of our forces into the regions of Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and Paldea. I told them to report directly to me so I could report to you," Saïx said.
"That is not necessary, Saïx. We cannot be sure who has the power to wield a Keyblade and who doesn't just by searching. This kind of search will only take up too much time," Xemnas said.
"As you say. Shall we deal with this new Keyblade wielder, just as a precaution?" Saïx asked.
"Not yet. She will need this time to grow and mature. For now, we must continue to focus our attention onto Sora and Kairi," Xemnas said.
"As you wish, Lord Xemnas," Saïx said.
Back in Johto, Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Lyra, and the Pokémon had made it to the Pokémon Center to stay for the night.
"Gotta hand it to you, Lyra, you were pretty amazing with your new Keyblade," Tracey said.
"Thanks, Tracey. It means a lot. Now that I have one, too, do you think Organization XIII knows about me now?" Lyra asked.
"I can bet a million munny that they do know about you and Ethan," Sora said.
"Sora's right. They might have a way to find out about these sort of things," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"And I have a feeling they'll be sending you a greeting rather if you want it or not," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"You're right about that. The Organization makes Team Rocket look like chumps," Lyra said. "Even when it's just 13 of them."
"Marill," Marill said.
"They sure do," Kairi agreed. "But we can't let our guard down." Lyra looked at Kairi and she looked at Marill who nodded at her. Lyra nodded back. She turned to Kairi.
"Hey, Kairi, I wanted to ask you something," Lyra said. Kairi looked back at Lyra.
"What is it?" Kairi asked.
"I was wondering if I could have a Pokémon battle with you tomorrow. Just to test my skills as a Trainer," Lyra said. Kairi smiled.
"Okay, I'll battle you. How do you want to do it tomorrow?" Kairi asked.
"I was thinking of a three-on-three match. Two out of three wins," Lyra said.
"Okay, you got a deal," Kairi said, accepting Lyra's challenge.
So a Pokémon battle was planned for the next day. It was a friendly battle between two friends. They first got a meal from the messhall and ate their meal before heading off for bed. On the next day, Kairi and Lyra got into position for their battle. Angel and Marill stood with their respective partners just before they got started. Lyra took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Clefairy!" Lyra called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Clefairy came on out.
"Clefairy," Clefairy said. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Ledyba!" Kairi called out. Her Ledyba came right out. "You got the first move, Lyra."
"Thank you. Clefairy! Use Pound!" Lyra ordered. Clefairy came at the Five Star Pokémon to land a Pound.
"Ledyba! Use Comet Punch!" Kairi ordered. Ledyba gave Clefairy three punches in the face. "Use Silver Wind!" Ledyba flapped her wings and blew a silver sparkly wind at the Fairy Pokémon.
"Clefairy! Use Thunder Punch!" Lyra ordered. Clefairy's fist emits electricity and lands a punch onto Ledyba.
"Are you okay, Ledyba?" Kairi asked.
"Le!" Ledyba said, getting back up.
"Okay! Use Mach Punch!" Kairi ordered. Ledyba dashed at Clefairy and gave Clefairy a Mach Punch. "Use Swift!" Ledyba fired her Swift at the Fairy Pokémon, hitting it.
"Clefairy! Use Metronome!" Lyra ordered. Clefairy waved its arms like a metronome.
"Be ready, Ledyba," Kairi said. She braced herself. Clefairy's Metronome turns into Flame Charge. Clefairy lands a burning tackle onto Ledyba, knocking her out. "Ledyba!" She helps Ledyba up. "Are you okay?"
"Le," Ledyba said weakly.
"Don't be sorry, Ledyba. You did your best," Kairi said, taking out her Pokéball. "Get some rest." Kairi calls Ledyba back.
"You were awesome, Clefairy!" Lyra said.
"Clefairy, Clefairy!" Clefairy said. Lyra calls Clefairy back.
"How was that, Kairi?" Lyra asked.
"That was great, Lyra. You raised your Clefairy well," Kairi said. Lyra smiled.
"I'm glad, Kairi. Now here's number two!" Lyra said, taking out her next Pokéball and threw it. "You're up, Chikorita!" Her Pokéball opened and lets out her Chikorita. Kairi took out her next Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Quilava!" Kairi called out. Quilava came out to battle next.
"Quilava," Quilava said.
"Okay, she sent out a Fire-type Pokémon, huh? That's not going to scare us off, right Chikorita?" Lyra asked.
"Chiko," Chikorita said.
"Didn't think so! Use Tackle!" Lyra ordered. Chikorita charges at Quilava with a Tackle.
"Dodge it, Quilava!" Kairi called out. Quilava dodges. "Use Quick Attack!" Quilava ran towards Chikorita and lands a hit. "Use Flamethrower!"
"Dodge it, Chikorita!" Lyra called out. Chikorita dodges Quilava's Flamethrower.
"Wow, that's fast," Kairi said.
"Been working on Chikorita's speed ever since I got him. Okay, Chikorita! Use Energy Ball!" Lyra ordered. Chikorita fired Energy Ball at Quilava.
"Use Flame Wheel!" Kairi ordered. Quilava rolls into a wheel of fire and heads right towards Chikorita, landing a hit. It was super-effective! "Use Flamethrower!" Quilava unleashes Flamethrower, hitting Chikorita on the mark, resulting in a knock out. Lyra calls back Chikorita.
"Good job, Chikorita. You've earned yourself a good rest," Lyra said. She turned to Kairi. "Wow, your Quilava's strong. You did a great job with him."
"Thanks. I was going to say the same thing about your Chikorita," Kairi said.
"Okay, Marill, you're in now," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said, stepping in.
"Angel, you're up," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said, stepping in.
"Marill! Use Water Gun!" Lyra ordered. Marill spews water from her mouth.
"Angel! Dodge with Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel dodges Marill's Quick Attack and lands a hit. "Use Iron Tail!" Angel swings at the Aqua Mouse Pokémon with Iron Tail.
"Marill! Use Aqua Tail!" Lyra ordered. Marill swings her tail at Angel with it emitting water. Angel is struck hard. "Now use Bubble Beam!" Marill fired Bubble Beam at Angel.
"Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift at Marill's Bubble Beam. The stars cuts through the bubbles. "Use Quick Attack!" Angel dashes at Marill and lands a hit.
"Marill! Water Gun!" Lyra ordered.
"Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel headbutts into Marill. Marill ends up flinching.
"You okay, Marill?" Lyra asked.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Okay, use Water Gun again!" Lyra ordered. Marill fired Water Gun at the female Eevee again.
"Use Quick Attack!" Kairi ordered. Angel dodges Marill's Water Gun and ran towards the Aqua Mouse Pokémon. She lands a hit onto Marill. Marill then gets back up.
"Marill! Use Aqua Tail!" Lyra ordered. Marill swings her tail at Angel.
"Use Iron Tail!" Kairi ordered. Angel swings her tail at Marill, but Angel is struck by Marill's Aqua Tail. "Angel!" Kairi gasped.
"Good work, Marill! One more Aqua Tail!" Lyra ordered. Marill swings her tail once again and sends it at Angel. Angel dodges Marill's attack, but Marill tries again and again. "Wow, that Eevee of hers is fast. Just fast as Sora's Pikachu. I wonder what kind of special training they go through to get that fast."
"Use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift at Marill, hitting her repeatedly with the stars. "Use Headbutt!" Angel dashed at Marill and lands a critical hit. Marill tried to get back up, but fell back down, beaten. Lyra had lost the battle. She helps Marill up.
"You okay, Marill?" Lyra asked.
"Marill," Marill said.
"You don't need to apologize, Marill. You were wonderful," Lyra said.
"She's right, Marill," Kairi said. "You gave it your all in our battle. You're a lucky Pokémon to have such a loving and caring Trainer as Lyra; especially for all the love and care she gave you." Marill beamed.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Congratulations on your win, Kairi," Lyra said.
"You almost had me there, Lyra. I was very impressed," Kairi said.
"So was I, Kairi. You're a skillful Pokémon Trainer," Lyra said.
"So are you, Lyra," Kairi said. Both girls shook hands as did Angel and Marill. Sora was proud of his girlfriend for her victory. He would be proud of her even if she didn't win.
"So, Lyra, what are your plans for right now?" Sora asked.
"I could stick with you for a little while. Just so I could use the practice to use my Keyblade," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"If that's what you want, then you're more than welcome to come along with us, Lyra," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"And we could show Ethan your Keyblade when we see him," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.
"And with the three of you holding a Keyblade, the Heartless will be mighty sorry that they've shown up," Tracey said.
"They were already sorry for that," Sora said. "But you're right about that, Tracey."
Now that Lyra has a Keyblade of her own, she will be defending herself from the Heartless as well, but she decided to stick with Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi until she got the hang of it. They did wonder how Ethan, Kris, and Riku would react if Lyra has a Keyblade and used it to slay a giant Heartless. But how long will it take until Organization XIII will launch their attack on Lyra? Also, could it be possible that there are candidates for the Keyblade like Xenmas and Saïx said? And, what sort of history did Ruby have with Gaia, Viento, and Cascade? Are Gaia and Viento truly gone forever or will they come back some day? Just find out when we go on even further.
