Episode 120: Spell of the Unown Part 1

A few days passed since they rescued Azumarill from two Pokémon Hunters from a Pokémon circus. As they continued to Goldenrod City for Sora to have his third Gym battle in the Johto region, Sora knew where they were and he smiled. Kairi was quick to notice the smirk on her boyfriend's face.

"Sora, what are you smiling about?" Kairi asked.

"I think I know where we're heading right now," Sora said. Kairi knew he wasn't talking about Goldenrod City just by the tone in his voice. She had to ask him.

"Where?" Kairi asked.

"Greenfield," Sora said.

"Greenfield?" Kairi asked.

"I heard of that place! It's one of the most beautiful locations in the entire Johto region! I've been wanting to go there ever since I was little," Lyra said.

"Yeah, but there's another reason for going there," Sora said.

"What reason is there, Sora?" Lyra asked.

"Well, Spencer Hale actually lives there along with his family; his wife Eliza and daughter Molly," Sora explained.

"Spencer Hale? Oh yeah, you told me about them before. I even saw a picture of them when I was at your house," Kairi said.

"To tell the truth, I wanted to introduce you to the Hales for a long time, because the Hales have been good friends to my family for a long time. I know they'll like you as much as my aunt and uncle do," Sora said. Kairi blushed.

"You're very sweet, Sora," Kairi said. She gave her boyfriend a kiss on the cheek. Sora also blushed.

"Aw, that is so very sweet. Makes me so envious," Lyra said.

"Do you remember what he was studying when he was Professor Oak's student, Sora?" Tracey asked.

"No," Sora answered. "It was a long time ago. But I do remember playing with her, along with Karen, and Ven."

"Who's Ven?" Lyra asked.

"Ven is Sora's younger cousin from his mom's side of the family. Ven is short for Ventus," Kairi said.

"Ventus, huh? That sounds like a nice name," Lyra said.

"People often thought me and him were brothers since he looked a little like me, but he has blonde hair instead of brown, and it's not as spiky," Sora said.

"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.

"And like Sora, he's very fond of Pokémon, and he dreams of becoming a Pokémon Trainer just like him," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Togepi," Togepi chirped.

"Well, not surprising to me. And Ven sounds like an okay kid in my book," Lyra said.

Just then, Ethan and Kris are walking down the same path as them.

"Sora, Tracey," Ethan said.

"Kairi, Lyra," Kris said.

"Ethan," Sora said.

"Kris," Kairi said.

"Good to see you four," Ethan said.

"How have things been with you?" Kris asked.

"Oh, you know, the usual. How about?" Sora asked.

"Same," Ethan and Kris said.

"I had some Pokémon battles, and took on a few Heartless. I think I'm doing better with my Keyblade than when we were in the realm of darkness," Ethan said.

"I can bet. Are you heading for Greenfield, same as us?" Lyra asked.

"Marill," Marill said.

"Kris and I were heading that way when we saw each other," Ethan said.

"I always wanted to see it," Kris said.

"Did Lyra say that you're heading for Greenfield?" Ethan asked.

"I did," Lyra said.

"Sora said he knows someone who actually lives in Greenfield and we're paying him a visit," Tracey said.

"Wha? You know someone who lives there, Sora? You sure it's not an excuse to have a private date with Kairi?" Kris asked.

"Tease all you want, Kris. Nothing you say is going to get a rise out of me," Sora said.

"Oh, sure there isn't," Kris teased. She giggled. Lyra had to reveal something big to her two friends.

"Ethan, Kris, there is something I think you both should see," Lyra said. Marill looked to her and she knew what it meant.

"What?" Ethan asked. Lyra held out her hand and she summoned her Keyblade, much to the surprise of Ethan and Kris.

"Whoa!" Ethan and Kris exclaimed.

"Lyra, you have a Keyblade, too?!" Kris asked.

"Yes, I do. We were attacked by some Heartless, so Sora and Kairi fought them off, but more of them kept on coming. I was wishing I could do something, and then suddenly, I got this," Lyra said.

"You should have seen her. She managed to finish off a giant Heartless with that new Keyblade," Sora said.

"How amazing," Kris said.

"It looks like Keyblades are being handed out to everyone," Tracey said. "I wonder if I could get one, too."

"I don't think it works that way, Tracey. Not just anybody could just have a Keyblade," Sora said.

"Sora's right. The Keyblade has to choose you," Kairi said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.

"Figured it'll be too easy," Tracey said. "But it was a nice thought."

Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi all laughed.

"But, you may never know, Tracey. something might happen when you don't expect it," Sora said. "Isn't that right, Pikachu?"

"Pikachu," Pikachu agreed.

"Yeah. Like when we were in the realm of darkness and fought that dog pile of Heartless," Ethan said, summoning his Keyblade. He held it up. "It was kinda weird at first, but it was pretty awesome at the same time." He sighed. "I wonder why it chose me."

"I've been wondering about that, Ethan," Sora said.

"Maybe, it chose you because you might have a special kind of light," Kairi guessed.

"A special kind of light?" Ethan asked.

"What do you mean, Kairi?" Lyra asked.

"Marill?" Marill asked, puzzled.

"I don't really know, to be honest. I was only guessing. But if it is, then your light might have been shining so brightly, your Keyblade would only come to your aide when you were in trouble," Kairi said.

"But I didn't get my Keyblade until the last time the Heartless attacked," Lyra said. "I mean, Kris and I were with you in the realm of darkness."

"Maybe it depends on the situation," Tracey said.

"Tracey may not be a Keyblade wielder, but he makes a good point. Kairi got hers a little longer after I got mine. Same can be said with Ash," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"This whole Keyblade talk is making my head spin. And it's kinda scary. It's scary when you have to defend yourself from those awful Heartless. I can't help but worry about you, because I don't ever want to think about losing my friends to them," Kris said. Everyone all looked at her. "But my fears won't stop me for rooting for my friends."

"I'm glad that I'll always have your support, Kris," Ethan said. Kris smiled as she blushes.

"I'll always support you, because you're my friend, Ethan," Kris said. That made Ethan smile and blush.

Sora and Kairi were quick to notice that there was a special connection between the two of them.

"Say, since we're all heading to the same place, how about we go and head for Greenfield together?" Sora suggested.

"I like the sound of that, Sora," Ethan said.

Meanwhile, we have a look into Greenfield. In a mansion, we have a look at a father and daughter. The father wore a lime green buttoned shirt and jeans. Sitting in her bed is a young girl who has blue eyes, fair skin and short brunette hair. She wore yellow pajamas. Together, they were looking into a book.

"These are legendary Pokémon, Molly. Many people actually believes in them, even though they never seen them. So the artists imagined what some of them might look like," the man said. It turns out to be Spencer Hale. Molly turned the page on the book. What she saw an artist conception of how Unown would look.

"Here are the ones you're looking for," Molly said.

"Yeah, that's right," Spencer confirmed.

"It looks funny," Molly said.

"I've been looking into the Unown since..." Spencer paused. "Well, a long time now." Molly turned the page again. The image she saw was a fairy riding on the back an Entei.

"Here's Entei!" Molly said.

"That's right, Molly. Entei looks a little scary to me, but you like Entei, don't you, Molly?" Spencer asked.

"Entei is strong, and it's also nice, just like you, papa," Molly said.

"Oh, I'm like Entei, huh? Well, then, I am Entei!" Spencer said. He made a pretend roar for Molly. She laughed.

"You're Entei!" Molly said. The two of them laughed. Molly got on his back.

"Here we go!" Spencer said with his daughter riding on his back. They laughed as Spencer got on Molly's rocking Ponyta.

The laptop sitting at a desk close to them starts ringing. The laughing ceases as Spencer goes over to check it.

"It's Schuyler again. It's always him," Molly said, sounding disappointed. Spencer goes over to the laptop to check it. Molly heads right over to her bed. On the screen is showing a man standing outside of some ancient ruins in a desert.

"Professor, I found it! A hidden chamber about the Unown," Schuyler said.

"What are the coordinates, Schuyler?" Spencer asked.

"I'm sending them to you as we speak," Schuyler said. Spencer retrieves them.

"I got them, Schuyler. I'll be right there," Spencer said.

"I'll be waiting," Schuyler said, breaking contact. Spencer knew it was hard to leave Molly behind. He knew it's been hard for Molly ever since his wife has been hospitalized. He hated to leave Molly behind again, but he had to do what he had to do.

"I have to go now, Molly," Spencer said.

"Again?" Molly asked.

"I'm afraid so, sweetie," Spencer said, tucking her in. "Sweet dreams, Molly. Keep me close to your dreams." He walked out of the bedroom as Molly tucked her head under the covers.

"Papa, come back soon," Molly said.

Coming down the stairs, the family butler is standing at the foot of the stairs.

"Stepping out again, sir?" The butler asked.

"Fraid so. See to it that Molly is well taken care of," Spencer instructed.

"Yes, sir. And you take care as well," the butler said.

"I will, David," Spencer said. David watched Spencer walk out the door. He sighed to himself.

"I hope your search goes well," David said.

Over to the ruins, a helicopter arrived and Spencer stepped out, wearing his archeologist outfit.

"I got here as soon as I got your call," Spencer said. "So, is it a clue about the Unown?"

"Yes. I thought you should be the one to see it," Schuyler said.

They stepped into an ancient chamber. The chamber is filled with an ancient writing that are shaped like the Unown themselves. It was like the Ruins of Alph that Sora, Kairi, and Tracey have stumbled onto before. Spencer gasped in awe.

"Is this it?" Spencer asked.

"It is. I never seen anything like this before. It seems to be about the Unown," Schuyler said. Spencer takes out his laptop and he points the camera the markings. "You think this is legit?"

"That's what we're here to figure out," Spencer said. Schuyler took out his camera.

"If anyone could figure it out, it's you," Schuyler said. Spencer sees a small tablet with a marking on it. He picked it up and looked at it. An Unown shaped like the letter P appeared right behind him. He turned around when the Unown disappeared. Thinking that he was just hearing things, he went back to doing research and he saw an ancient chest. He opened it and saw many tablets inside it. He picked up a few of them and looked at them. They then gave off a blue glowing light. Spencer was surprised when a bunch of Unown appeared and sucked him up into a different dimension.

"It's the Unown!" Spencer said.

Back in the real world, the chest fell, catching Schuyler's attention. He saw that Spencer was gone. He frantically looked around for him.

"Professor? Professor?" Schuyler asked as he looked around. "Professor!" His voice echoed all around the chamber. Hearing this, one of the archeologists came in the chamber.

"What happened?" The archeologist asked.

"I don't know! He was just with me, and he suddenly just disappeared!" Schuyler explained.

"What do you mean disappeared?" The archeologist asked.

"I don't know. I just don't know," Schuyler sighed. "Oh, Molly is going to he heartbroken when she hears about this."

Back at the Hale mansion, Molly comes running downstairs from her bedroom. She wore a blue bow on the left side of her head. Her dress is paired with a white short-sleeved shirt and blue gem and pink shoes with white knee-high socks. She happily runs towards the main hall.

Schuyler have arrived with the chest and he told David everything that happened. David was distraught.

"This is terrible. Now the poor young miss is all alone in this world," David said. Schuyler said nothing. The main hall doors opened.

"Papa, I saw the car and-" Molly paused.

"Molly..." Schuyler said.

"I should tell her," David said. Molly was confused by what was going on. Molly didn't take the news of her father disappearing to heart.

That night, Molly opened up her father's laptop, hoping that it might have some information on her father's disappearance.

"Papa, where are you?" Molly asked. She searched and searched. She stumbled onto the latest photos of the scripts of the Unown. Molly gasped in awe. "Unown." She looked at the chest and opened it. She took out the pieces and used to to spell out her name. "They're just like letters. I can spell out our names." She grabbed the M, A, and P Unown pieces. "Papa and Mama." She grew sad. "They're together with me." Just then, the pieces began to glow. The pieces floats up above her as a vortex opened up. Several Unown came out and went around her. "Those are Unown. Do you want to play with me?" Suddenly everything around her began to crystallize. Outside the main hall, Schuyler, David, and a few maids saw what was happening.

"What in the world?!" David asked.

"Molly!" Schuyler said as he bust the door opened. He gasped when he saw several Unown around Molly.

"What are they?" David asked.

"Those are the Unown!" Schuyler said. The room continued to crystallize, sealing the door. Everyone all ran out as the entire room was crystallized.

Molly looked into the book with the page with the fairy riding on Entei's back.

"These are legendary Pokémon, Molly. Many people actually believes in them, even though they never seen them. So the artists imagined what some of them might look like," Spencer said in Molly's memory.

"Papa," Molly said. She then started to cry.

"Oh, I'm like Entei, huh? Well, then, I am Entei! Spencer said in Molly's memory. He did a pretend roar.

"Papa," Molly cried. Tears came from her eyes. Reading Molly's mind, the Unown began to circle around and create a new entity. It began to take shape of the legendary Pokémon Entei. Its body was a clear crystallized color, and then took on Entei's color. The Pokémon looked right at Molly.

"Are you the one who has called me here?" Entei asked. Molly turned around and saw Entei before her.

"Are you my-" Molly paused.

"I am Entei," Entei said. Molly's face lit up.

"Papa! You look just like the Entei in the storybook! But you're here!" Molly said, running up to Entei's leg and hugged it. "Papa." Entei didn't know what it meant.

"Papa?" Entei asked. It looked at Molly and smiled. "If that what you wish."

Outside the mansion, Schuyler, David, and the entire staff have managed to get out just in time as the entire Hale Mansion crystallized. This began to draw the attention of the entire town.

Well, this is only the beginning of what is about to come. How will Sora and his friends react when they see Greenfield like this? Find out when we get to the next chapter.

"Would you look at that?!" One of the local men asked.

"What the heck is going on here?" Another man asked.

"Is that the Spencer house?" A random woman asked.

"That little girl is trapped in there!" Another man said.

"We gotta call somebody," another woman said.
