Episode 121: Spell of the Unown Part 2
We join Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, and Marill as they continued their way to Greenfield on the way to Goldenrod City, taking a slight detour. They arrived to the local playground where there is a girl, wearing a violet-red shirt and a bandana of the same color. She wore blue jeans and blue shoes with white streaks. With her is an Aipom. She spots the group approaching.
"Excuse me, but are any of you Pokémon Trainers?" The girl asked.
"We are. Why do you ask?" Sora asked.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"My name is Lisa, and I want to have a Pokémon battle with you," Lisa said. She looked around them and she points to Sora. "And the opponent I choose is you."
"Luck of the draw," Sora deadpanned. "Anyway, my name's Sora."
"Good to meet you, Sora. Let's make it a full six-on-six Pokémon battle," Lisa said.
"Fine with me," Sora said. He might be carrying twelve Pokémon with him, but he was going to give her quite a show. He took out his first Pokéball and threw it. "Let's get started, Totodile!" His Pokéball opened and Totodile came out doing his dance. Lisa took out her Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Granbull!" Lisa called out. Lisa's Pokémon is a purple, bipedal, bulldog-like Pokémon. It has a prominent lower jaw with two long, fang-like growths. Its upper jaw has two small fangs. The jaws are so heavy that the Pokémon has trouble keeping its head up. On the sides of its head are flat, curved ears, and its small nose is black. There is a black collar around its neck with two small white markings on it. Around its wrists are two black band markings, and it has a short tail. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the.
Granbull, the Fairy Pokémon
The evolved form of Snubbull
Type: Fairy
Granbull has a particularly well-developed lower jaw. The enormous fangs are heavy, causing the Pokémon to tip its head back for balance. Unless it is startled, it will not try to bite indiscriminately.
"So that's what Snubbull evolves into. Get ready, Totodile. That Granbull looks tough," Sora said.
"My Granbull doesn't look tough. My Granbull is tough! And I'll prove it, too! Granbull! Use Crunch!" Lisa ordered. Granbull charges at the Big Jaw Pokémon, opening its mouth.
"Dodge it, Totodile!" Sora called out. Totodile danced to avoid Granbull's Crunch. "Use Scratch!" Totodile came at Granbull and scratched it across the face.
"Granbull! Use Play Rough!" Lisa ordered. Granbull came at Totodile and gave him quite a beating. It wasn't enough to take Totodile down, but he stood his ground. Lisa smiled. "Granbull! Use Thunder Fang!" Granbull came at Totodile with its jaws emitting electricity.
"Dodge and use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Totodile dodged and fired Water Gun, pushing Granbull back. Granbull was still standing. "Use Bite!" Totodile gave Granbull a bite on the leg.
"You should know Dark-type moves won't bother Fairy-type Pokémon that easily," Lisa said. "Granbull! Use Thunder Fang again!" Granbull came at Totodile with another Thunder Fang.
"Use Water Gun again!" Sora ordered. Totodile fired another Water Gun, hitting the Fairy Pokémon, pushing it back once again. Granbull was down and out. Sora and Totodile high-fived each other. "Good job, Totodile." Lisa called back Granbull and smiled.
"You battled well, Granbull. Get some rest," Lisa said. She took out another Pokéball. "That wasn't half-bad, Sora. But here comes my next one, ready or not! Go! Girafarig!" Her Pokéball opened to reveal a Girafarig. The brown section on Girafarig's flank was smaller than the one Riku has. Sora called back Totodile and took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Chikorita!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened, and Chikorita nuzzles him, much to his embarrassment. "You can save the affections for after the battle." Chikorita understood and stood before the giraffe-like Pokémon.
"Girafarig! Use Psybeam!" Lisa ordered. Girafarig fired Psybeam at the Leaf Pokémon. Girafarig fired Psybeam at Chikorita.
"Dodge it and use Razor Leaf!" Sora ordered. Chikorita dodges Girafarig's psychic beam just by running. Chikorita hurls Razor Leaf at the Long Neck Pokémon.
"Dodge it!" Lisa called out. Girafarig ducked its head. "Use Psybeam again!" Girafarig fired another Psybeam at the Leaf Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Tackle!" Sora ordered. Chikorita charges at Girafarig and lands a Tackle.
"Use Stomp!" Lisa ordered. Girafarig raised its hooves in the air and came down at her.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Chikorita tried to dodge, but Girafarig was too fast for the Leaf Pokémon to dodge. "Chikorita!"
"Use Iron Tail!" Lisa ordered. Girafarig swings its tail at Chikorita, landing a hit onto her. Chikorita manages to get back up, but weakly. "Use Vine Whip!" Chikorita extends her vines and sends them at Girafarig.
"That isn't going to work! Girafarig! Use Psybeam!" Lisa ordered. Girafarig fired Psybeam, hitting Chikorita, knocking her out. Sora picked up his Chikorita.
"You okay, Chikorita?" Sora asked.
"Chiko," Chikorita responded sadly.
"Hey, don't feel bad. You did your best. Take a rest for right now," Sora said, calling back his Chikorita.
"Good job as always, Girafarig. You were aweome," Lisa said. Girafarig beamed as she called Girafarig back inside. Her Aipom stepped up.
"Aipom, Aipom!" Aipom said. She turned to her Aipom.
"You wanna have a shot now?" Lisa asked. Aipom nodded. "I thought you would. Go for it!" Aipom stepped in to battle. Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Noctowl!" Sora called out. Stars swirls around Noctowl upon entry.
"Aipom! Use Ice Punch!" Lisa ordered. Aipom's hand-like tail, emits ice and heads for the Shiny Owl Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Wing Attack!" Sora ordered. Noctowl dodges Aipom's icy punch and lands a hit with his wings. "Use Peck!" Noctowl gave Aipom a few pecks.
"Aipom! Use Tail Slap!" Lisa ordered. Aipom gave Noctowl a couple of slaps with its tail. "Use Swift!" Aipom waved its tail and sent stars at Noctowl.
"Use Confusion to block it!" Sora ordered. Noctowl uses his telepathic powers to block the stars, much to Lisa's surprise.
"Huh? Swift can't be dodged!" Lisa said.
"No, but it can be blocked! Return to sender!" Sora called out. Noctowl sends the stars back at Aipom, dealing some heavy damage. The Long Tail Pokémon was now down for the count.
"Aipom!" Lisa exclaimed, catching the monkey-like Pokémon. "You okay?"
"Aipo-" Aipom said.
"You should have a rest for right now," Lisa said, placing Aipom down.
"Great work, Noctowl. Your psychic powers are coming along smoothly," Sora said, calling back Noctowl. He took out his next Pokéball as did Lisa. The both of them threw the Pokéballs. "You're up, Natu!"
"Go! Butterfree!" Lisa called out. Natu and Butterfree both came out the same time.
"Natu! Use Night Shade!" Sora ordered. Natu fired Night Shade at the Butterfly Pokémon.
"Use Protect!" Lisa ordered. Butterfree creates a protective barrier around itself and blocked. "Use Silver Wind!" Butterfree flapped its wings, blowing Natu in the glittering wind.
"Natu!" Sora called out.
"Butterfree! Use Air Slash!" Lisa ordered. Butterfree sends out a blade of air at the Tiny Bird Pokémon, taking her out. Sora picked Natu up and he smiled.
"Sorry about that, Natu. That Butterfree was more experienced in battle than you were. You'll get it next time," Sora said.
"Great work, Butterfree!" Lisa said, calling Butterfree back. She took out her next Pokéball and threw it, as did Sora. "Mankey! Go!"
"Turn up the heat, Cyndaquil!" Sora called out. Mankey and Cyndaquil both came out to battle.
"Mankey! Use Karate Chop!" Lisa ordered.
"Dodge and use Tackle!" Sora ordered. Cyndaquil dodges Mankey's chop attack and lands a Tackle.
"Use Power-Up Punch!" Lisa ordered.
"Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Cyndaquil's back flares up and fired a powerful Flamethrower at the Pig Monkey Pokémon, knocking it out. "That was your best Flamethrower yet! Good job!"
"Cyndaquil!" Cyndaquil said.
"Not bad, Sora. The next one decides the winner," Lisa said.
"Couldn't agree more," Sora said. Lisa took out her Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Quagsire!" Lisa called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Quagsire came right out. Sora turned to Pikachu. Sora thought of sending out either Skarmory, Marill, or Teddiursa out, but he thought of Pikachu.
"You want in on the action, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"Okay! Electric-type moves aren't going to work, so Iron Tail and Quick Attack are your best choices against Quagsire," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Use Muddy Water!" Lisa ordered. Quagsire releases a spiraling brown wave of water from around its body at Pikachu.
"Dodge it! Quick!" Sora called out. Pikachu uses his speed to dodge Quagsire's water attack. "Use Quick Attack!" Pikachu dashed right at the Water Fish Pokémon, but Pikachu's attack bounced right off.
"Quagsire! Use Aqua Tail!" Lisa ordered. Quagsire's tail emits water and smacked the Mouse Pokémon on the mark.
"Pikachu! Use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu jumped and swung his tail giving off a metallic glow. Pikachu lands a heavy blow onto Quagsire's head, resulting in a knock out. Lisa gasped.
"Quagsire!" Lisa exclaimed, running up to her Pokémon, helping Quagsire up. "I guess you win, Sora."
"Well, you would have had be beat, Lisa," Sora said.
After the match, Kairi has prepared lunch for everyone to eat.
"I have to say, you're one of the toughest Trainers I have ever met," Lisa said.
"Same to you, Lisa. The way you battled really impressed me," Sora said.
"Where are you heading, Lisa?" Tracey asked.
"I'm on my way over to the Pokémon Center in Greenfield, just over this hill," Lisa said.
"What a coincidence. We were just heading there when we bumped into you," Ethan said.
"We should let her come with us since we're heading that way, anyway," Kris said.
"That's if it's okay with you, Lisa," Kairi said.
"Sure. I know the quickest way to get there," Lisa said.
Lisa joined the group as they head for Greenfield. Upon arriving, they all gasped when they saw the field flowers around the mansion have crystallized.
"What in the world?!" Lyra asked.
"Marill!" Marill said.
"This bizarre!" Tracey said.
"Greenfield is supposed to be greener than this!" Sora said.
"What is going on?" Kairi asked.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Lisa caught up with the group and she gasped in shock. They ran up to the crystal flowers.
"Okay, I'm no expert on flowers, but even I know flowers don't turn to crystal," Sora said.
"I agree. This is weird," Kris said.
"You think Organization XIII could be behind this?" Lyra asked.
"I hope not," Ethan said.
"Marill!" Marill said, pointing to Officer Jenny riding on her motorcycle, followed by news vans and a blue car. Stepping out is Hiroaki Ishida along with his crew. Nancy Takaishi stepped out of the blue car while a news woman stepped out.
"Are we ready?" The news woman asked.
"We're ready in 5, 4, 3, 2," the cameraman said.
"We are standing here live in Greenfield where a bizarre phenomenon has occurred. Experts are completely baffled, unable to figure out how this could have happened. The crystallized palace is the mansion of renowned Pokémon researcher, Professor Spencer Hale," the news woman said.
Back at home, Delia, Karen, Mimey, and Blossom were watching the event on their TV. Delia was especially shocked by this.
"This is crazy," Karen said.
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
Delia said nothing, but she stood up and ran into the kitchen. Karen watched her run.
"Mom?" Karen asked.
"How much does Spencer has to go through this?!" Delia asked, taking out a photo of Delia along with Spencer and his family stood with Professor Oak and Sora and Karen when they were little kids. Under that one is a photo of her with Professor Oak, Kaito, and Spencer when they were young. Delia had pigtails in those days. Karen stepped in the kitchen with a concerned look on her face. Blossom shared her concern.
"Mom?" Karen asked. Hearing her daughter's voice, she turned to her. "What's going on?"
"Karen, as you know Spencer and Eliza were friends of both of me and your father when we were teenagers," Delia said.
"Don't they have a little girl, mom?" Karen asked.
"Yes. Their daughter Molly. You and Sora saw them quite a few times when you were little," Delia said.
"I don't really remember much," Karen said. "Are you heading to Professor Oak's lab about this?"
"I am. I hope he's looking into this," Delia said.
In Kairi's house, Xion is playing with Seth when Yuta and Mirei were watching the event on TV.
"Greenfield isn't supposed to look like this!" Yuta said.
"I agree. Delia is probably watching this," Mirei said. The couple saw Delia rush to Professor Oak's lab and so they went right up to her. "Delia, wait up!" Delia turned to Yuta and Mirei.
"Yuta, Mirei," Delia said.
"You mind filling us in?" Yuta asked.
"I'll explain on the way!" Delia said.
Over to Professor Oak's lab, he and Daisy were watching the news coverage on his computer.
"Grandpa, wasn't he one of your old students?" Daisy asked.
"One of my best students. As you know, he was doing research of the Unown, and he sent me his research for me to look over," Professor Oak explained.
Delia, Yuta, and Mirei came up the stairs.
"Professor, are you watching this?" Delia asked.
"Yes. I'm heading there right now," Professor Oak said.
"I'm going with you. I'm worried about Molly," Delia said.
"So, am I, Delia. So am I," Professor Oak said.
Over to Ash and Leaf, they were in Odaiba City with Tai, Kari, and their friends watching the news coverage.
"Oh, no. Not this," Leaf said.
"I know. This is bizarre," Izzy said.
"Not that. Molly is there!" Ash said.
"Huh? Who's Molly?" Sora T asked.
"Molly is Professor Hale's daughter. Professor Hale used to be Professor Oak's student. He was doing research on legendary Pokémon from I heard. I think we should head down there," Ash said.
"I agree. We can't let Molly stay in there," Leaf said.
"Hey, we should come with you," Davis said.
"Yeah. Maybe there could be a clue on how to get to the realm of darkness and save Cascade," Ken said.
"Ken might be right. It might be worth looking into," Leaf said.
"Okay. Let's go," Ash said.
Meanwhile, in the World That Never Was, Xemnas, Saïx, Xigbar, and Axel sat on their thrones. This has caught the attention of the Organization's leader, second-in-command and Xigbar. So, Axel was summoned for his assignment.
"Okay, you want me to head where?" Axel asked.
"To Greenfield. This should be a good way to make up for your failure dealing with Sora and Kairi. This task shall be simple, even the Dusks would get it done. You are to observe the events going on, and then you will report your findings directly to us," Saïx said.
"So, that's it. Just a little sightseeing?" Axel asked.
"More than sightseeing, Axel. You will gather some useful information for us, regarding the Greenfield transformation. And you are forbidden to ever return until you have the useful information," Xemnas said. "Is that understood?"
"Yes, sir," Axel said.
"And there is more, Axel. This will draw the attention of our enemies. You will have to deal with them of they do arrive to Greenfield. So, eliminate them if they get in your way," Xemnas said.
"You got it," Axel said.
"Don't disappoint us again, Axel," Xemnas said. Axel took his leave through the corridor of darkness.
"Looking down at Greenfield, it's not exactly on the green side, isn't it?" Xigbar asked.
"This phenomenon has interested us, and we think this might benefit us," Saïx said.
"And that's why you sent flamesilocks down there. That wallop he took from Sora and Kairi did him good," Xigbar said. It wasn't long until the news of Axel's failure became well-known. "You certain Sora and Kairi will be there?"
"We are. The events of Greenfield will most certainly grab Sora and Kairi's attention. This mission is for Axel to redeem himself. Only then, Roxas will he at his full potential," Xemnas said.
Back to Greenfield, Team Rocket managed to arrive.
"Ah, Greenfield is just as I imagined. A beautiful mountain and a field shining like a sparkling crysta-" Jessie paused. "Hey, what is that?!"
"I don't know, but it looks horrendous!" James said.
"Yeah, it looks bad, too," Meowth said. Wobbuffet came on out.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet said, coming out of his Pokéball again. Jessie growled.
"It's already bad enough without you showing up. Back in the ball!" Jessie said, calling Wobbuffet back inside.
Inside the Pokémon Center, a lot of Trainers were in an uproar about what was happening. Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisa, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Marill saw Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill were there.
"Riku!" Sora said.
"Sora, can't say it's good timing that you got here," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"You have any clue about what's happening?" Sora asked.
"I was hoping you had one. It was a real shock when it happened," Riku said.
"It sure was," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"What brought you here to Greenfield, Sora?" Riku asked.
"We were paying Professor Hale a visit, and then we saw what happened here," Sora said.
"Professor Hale disappeared," a voice spoke. They turned to see Schuyler behind them. "I called him over to look into a chamber of the Unown, but for some bizarre reason, he disappeared. I have no idea what happened."
"What about Eliza and Molly? Are they okay, at least?" Sora asked.
"Eliza's in the hospital right now, but Molly is still inside the mansion," Schuyler said. Sora groaned, not liking how this happened.
"I had no idea Eliza's in the hospital. Is she okay?" Sora asked.
"I don't know. But it's Molly I'm concerned about right now," Schuyler said.
"Aw, man," Sora said. "Does Professor Oak know about this?"
"I contacted him, so he should be on his way over here right now," Schuyler said.
They didn't wait long when Professor Oak, along with Ash, Leaf, Tai, Kari, and their friends have arrived to the Pokémon Center.
"I'm here at the Greenfield Pokémon Center where an emergency response team is just arriving," the news woman said.
"Professor, Ash, Leaf," Sora said.
"Sora, Kairi. Good to see you're still in one piece," Leaf said.
"Likewise," Kairi said.
"I didn't expect to see you kids here," Professor Oak said.
"Schuyler here told us you were coming by. My surprise visit didn't go as planned," Sora said.
"I supposed not," Professor Oak said. Pikachu jumped off of Sora's shoulders.
"Hello, Pikachu," Delia greeted. She picked Pikachu up.
"Mom?" Sora asked. Delia saw her son and smiled.
"Hi, honey. How have you been since we last saw each other?" Delia asked.
"Going smoothly," Sora said. He didn't want to bring up the time they were sent to the realm of darkness, their battle with Ansem, and their run-in with Axel from Organization XIII. "How's Karen doing?"
"Your sister is still worrying about you," Delia said.
"Sounds like Karen," Sora said. Sora isn't aware that the camera is pointing at Sora and Delia sharing a mother and child moment.
Molly is watching the coverage on her laptop along with Entei. Molly looked at the photos on the table next to her bed and sighed.
"Papa, I want a mama, too," Molly said. Entei stood up.
"If that is what you wish," Entei said.
Back outside, Delia sat down with her son and his friends. Yuta and Mirei have come with her about the whole situation with Molly and her parents.
"Your father and I knew Spencer and Eliza when we were younger. They were there when we got married. They even attended your father's funeral," Delia said.
"We only saw them a few times, right mom?" Sora asked.
"That's right. You and your sister played with her whenever she came," Delia said.
"I just can't believe something like this could happen to that little girl," Yuta said.
"Me neither. I don't want to imagine what it'll be like if Kairi and Seth didn't have us around," Mirei said.
Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Marill, Togepi, Azurill, and Aipom were eating when Pikachu, Angel, and Eevee sensed something coming.
"Vee," Eevee growled. Riku looked at his partner.
"What's wrong, Eevee?" Riku asked.
He got his answer when Entei came running out of the mansion. Each step turned the ground into crystal. Entei reaches the group.
"What is that?!" Leaf asked.
"I don't believe it! It's Entei!" Ethan said.
"Entei?" Sora asked, taking out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Entei, the Volcano Pokémon
Type: Fire
Entei embodies the passion of magma. It is thought to have been born in the eruption of a volcano. It blasts fire that consumes all that it touches.
Delia stood up as Sora puts his Pokédex away. She stepped forward.
"What are you doing here?" Delia asked.
"I have come for you," Entei said. Delia wondered what Entei would want with her. "You are MAMA!" Entei hypnotizes her.
"Take me to her," Delia said in a trance. "Take me to my child." She faints, but Entei runs to her and lands on its back.
"Mom!" Sora exclaimed.
"Mrs. Ketchum!" Kairi added.
"Eevee!" Angel cried.
The entire group ran after the Volcano Pokémon as Pikachu grabbed Entei by the back fur. Entei ran past Nancy and her sons as Sora and the rest ran after Entei. The news woman and the cameraman recorded Sora running after Entei.
"MOM!" Sora yelled.
"COME BACK HERE WITH MY BOYFRIEND'S MOM!" Kairi yelled.
Pikachu tried shocking Entei, but the Volcano Pokémon wasn't going to have that. It shakes Pikachu off. Sora kept chasing after Entei.
"CAN'T LET HER GET AWAY!" Sora yelled. Riku saw where Sora was heading, but he grabbed him by the arm.
"SORA, WAIT!" Riku said.
"LET ME GO, RIKU!" Sora yelled.
"You don't know what's out there!" Riku said.
"I DON'T CARE! I'M GOING TO GET MY MOM!" Sora argued.
"Sora, don't be stupid! You might end up being turned to crystal, too!" Riku said.
"Listen to him, Sora! You know he's right!" Ash said, running up to them. "We can't lose you again!" Ethan, Lyra, and Kris wondered what Riku mean by again. They wondered if something happened. "We all get you want to help your mom, but you can't just run in without a plan, because you'll end up hurting her more than you're helping her." Sora relents, knowing Ash was right.
"What do we do then?" Sora asked.
"We'll make a plan. But it'll work if you're calm," Ash said. Sora sighed. Kairi felt sorry for her boyfriend and walked up to him. Sora just grabbed her and held her tight. Kairi held him back, comforting her boyfriend.
Now that Entei has taken Sora's mother, Delia, Sora and his friends will have to work together to rescue her. But how will it go from bad to worse? Find out when we go into the next chapter.
