Episode 123: Spell of the Unown Part 4

As Sora, Kairi, Riku, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, Eevee, and Marill successfully infiltrated the mansion, they looked around for any signs of the Unown, but they saw no signs of them, for now anyway. Ash tried to use his powers to sense for the doorway to the realm of darkness, but he didn't sense it anywhere.

"No Unown here," Lyra said.

"Not yet anyway," Riku said.

"We should try to find Molly's room, because that's where Sora's mom is most likely being kept," Leaf said.

"She's right. It's the one place to look," Kris said.

"Let's go everyone," Sora said.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

With that said, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, Eevee, and Marill headed for the stairway. As they stepped on the steps, everything around them changed.

"What just happened?" Ethan asked.

"The Unown did this. I just know it," Ash said.

"We can't stop. We have to keep going," Kairi said.

"She's right. We shouldn't get distracted," Riku said.

They made up the stairs and saw what looked like a meadow.

"Where are we now?" Leaf asked.

"This must another dream world that the Unown created," Riku said.

"Eevee," Eevee said.

"Who would have thought they had this kind of power?" Kris asked.

"We have to keep moving. We don't have time for sightseeing," Sora said.

"He's right. We have to remember that everything here was created by the Unown through Molly," Riku said.

"So, don't get taken by the scenery," Ash said.

Over to Axel, he uses his power of fire to bust on through the crystal structure. The damaged gazebo heals itself, much to the Nobody's surprise.

"That's something you don't see everyday," Axel said. He walked forward and he entered where Sora and his friends have disappeared at.

"Now, where are you?" Axel walked forward. He looked up and saw the Unown above him. "Either those are Pokémon, or they're living letter-shaped refrigerator magnets. That's one part of the mystery solved, but what's the connection?"

He hears the sound of banging and he saw it was Team Rocket. They didn't notice Axel, but they saw the Unown.

"Oh no, what now?" James asked.

"Are they Pokémon?" Jessie asked.

"Well, they ain't Heartless, and that's a good thing," Meowth said.

"I'm okay as long we don't see any Heartless at all. To put it nicely, we haven't seen of those yellow-eyed buggers anywhere around here," James said.

"Maybe they won't notice us if we sneak by them quietly," Jessie said.

"Right," James and Meowth said, sneaking by the Unown. They saw Axel standing there.

"You!" Meowth exclaimed.

"You're that fire guy from the Organization!" Jessie also exclaimed.

"Axel!" James said.

"Well, you sure got that memorized. And it looks like both our organizations caught wind of this little show going on," Axel said.

"Lookie here, flame-boy! If you're here to take the twerps out like you did before, you'll be cruisin' for a losin' just like the last time!" Meowth said.

"Hey, that was because I got careless the last time. But I'm on a different mission this time. Just so I think I should warn you not to get in my way, or I'll send you flying just like the last time," Axel said.

"WAIT, THAT WAS YOU?!" Jessie yelled.

"Yeah. For the record, I warned you," Axel said. He heads to the stairs and climbed up them. Jessie growled.

"We can't let those Organization chumps show up Team Rocket!" Jessie said.

"Yeah! Just who does he think he is?" James asked.

"We'll put out his flames if he tries to burn us!" Meowth said.

Back up to Molly's room, Molly, Entei, and Delia were still watching the event on TV, but saw no signs of Sora or any of the others.

"Papa, I think that boy and his friends must be somewhere in the house," Molly said.

"Should I chase them away?" Entei asked. Molly shook her head.

"I want to be in a Pokémon battle, mama," Molly said.

"Mm?" Delia asked.

"But I don't know if I can," Molly said.

"You can if that is what you wish," Entei said. Molly's face lit up.

"You really think I can? That would be so great, mama. A Pokémon Trainer. I could just imagine it," Molly said. Entei stood up, willing to make her beliefs a reality. The Volcano Pokémon took its leave through the floor, much to Delia's surprise.

Entei went through the crystal mansion. A crystal version of Molly appeared on the back of Entei.

"Papa, I don't know if I'm ready to train Pokémon yet," Molly said.

"You must believe you are," Entei said.

Molly imagined herself as a teenager. Molly's hair has grown much larger in addition to becoming a lighter blonde and reaches her shoulders, her dress is a darker shade of blue with a white coat over it, her bow is worn on her neck and she doesn't wear socks while her boots have become a darker shade of brown. She also wore a pair of black-and-white, yo-yo themed earrings.

"I do, papa," Molly said with her voice becoming lower and more mature sounding. Entei came before the group with the teenaged Molly riding on Entei's back.

"Entei," Sora said.

"You're all Pokémon Trainers, aren't you?" Molly asked.

"Where's my mom?" Sora asked. Entei jumped and Molly jumped off Entei's back.

"Have a Pokémon battle with me," Molly said.

"Don't change the subject!" Sora exclaimed.

"Well, you're not any fun," Molly said.

"Entei, you took my mother, so where is she?" Sora asked. Molly gave him a stern look on her face.

"There's no Entei! There's just my mama, my papa, and me!" Molly said.

"Yes," Entei said.

"Don't lie," Sora said. Riku placed his hand on his shoulder.

"Cool it, Sora," Riku said. He looked ahead. "You wouldn't happen to be Molly, by any chance, right?"

Everyone were shocked to hear Riku ask her that question.

"Yes. I'm Molly Hale," Molly said.

"That couldn't be Professor Hale's daughter, because she's too old," Kris whispered.

"Don't forget, the Unown can make anything she wants happen," Riku whispered back.

"He's right. It's powered by Molly's imagination," Ash said.

"So, you going to battle me or what?" Molly asked.

"Yeah, I'll battle you," Sora said. Riku stepped in front of Sora.

"Why battle him when you can battle me?" Riku asked, challenging Molly.

"Alright," Molly said.

"Riku, what are you doing?" Sora asked.

"Stalling her just so you can go rescue your mom. Don't worry about me, you know I can handle myself," Riku whispered.

"You're right, I know you can," Sora said.

"They both came from those stairs. Those stairs can lead you to your mom," Riku said. Sora nodded.

"Let's go," Sora said as the group minus Riku and Eevee stayed behind to face Molly.

"Shall we make this a three-on-three Pokémon battle?" Riku asked.

"That's fine with me," Molly said. Molly and Entei jumped to the opposite side, creating a battlefield. Riku took out a Pokéball and he threw it.

"Okay, Murkrow! You're first!" Riku called out. Murkrow came on out to battle. Riku's Murkrow was slightly bigger than Sora's. Molly made a crystal Pokéball appear into her hand.

"Kisses for luck," Molly said, lightly kissing the Pokéball. "I choose you, Flaaffy!" Her Pokéball opened and a Flaaffy.

"Okay, Murkrow! Use Astonish!" Riku ordered. Murkrow flew up in the air while making a black ghost face appear with red glowing eyes, and a red aura surrounding it to scare Flaaffy. The Wool Pokémon flinched. "Great! Use Wing Attack!" Murkrow flew at Flaaffy with Wing Attack. Murkrow lands a hit.

"It's coming back your way!" Molly warned. Flaaffy manages to dodge Murkrow's next attack. "Use Thunder Shock!" Flaaffy fired Thunder Shock at Murkrow, taking it down with just one hit. Riku called Murkrow back.

"What was that about?" Riku asked.

"You were wonderful, Flaaffy!" Molly said.

"Gotta hand it to you, Molly, that wasn't bad," Riku said.

"Thanks," Molly said as Flaaffy vanished and another crystal Pokéball appeared.

"My next one is going to my Eevee," Riku said.

"Eevee," Eevee said.

"And here's my next one," Molly said, summoning another crystal Pokéball and threw it. "Teddiursa!" Her Pokéball opened and let out a Teddiursa.

"A Teddiursa, huh? Looks like my opponents are cute Pokémon after all, huh?" Riku asked. Unknown to either one of them, Axel sneaks past them. He heads up the stairs. Team Rocket climbs up the steps, following the Nobody.

"I don't like this, Jess. It's like a storybook land invented by a five-year old," James said.

"Don't be ridiculous, James. Just leave the thinking to me," Jessie said.

Back with the battle...

"My Teddiursa is more than cute. Teddiursa! Dynamic Punch!" Molly ordered. Teddiursa came right at the Evolution Pokémon with a punch attack.

"Use Dig to dodge it!" Riku ordered. Eevee dug in the ground to avoid Teddiursa's attack.

"Eevee will be right out at any moment," Molly said. Eevee came right out of the ground. "Behind you!"

"Use Swift!" Riku ordered. Eevee fired Swift at Teddiursa. The Little Bear Pokémon took the hit.

"Use Fury Swipes!" Molly ordered. Teddiursa came at Eevee and swiped its claws at Eevee.

"Use Quick Attack!" Riku ordered. Eevee came at Teddiursa with Quick Attack again. Molly was enjoying herself. The battle went on until Eevee collapsed with exhaustion, knowing Eevee was down. He rushed to his partner. "Take a rest, Eevee."

"Vee," Eevee said.

"Who would have thought these dream Pokémon were so much tougher than the real thing?" Riku asked. "You're actually a good Trainer, Molly."

"Thanks, so are you," Molly said as Teddiursa vanished.

"Let's see how you handle my next one!" Riku said, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Pupitar! Go!" His Pokéball opened and let out a Pokémon encased inside a thick grayish-blue shell, sporting a hardness that is comparable to bedrock. Its red eyes can be seen through two holes in the shell, and two more holes directly above resemble eyebrows. The upper portion of its body is covered by a mask-like plate with four large spikes on either side. Three additional spikes protrude from its forehead.

"A Pupitar, huh? I think I have the right Pokémon for that," Molly said, creating another crystal Pokéball and threw it. "I choose Phanpy!" The next Pokémon to come out is a Phanpy. "Use Rollout!" Phanpy rolled right at Pupitar. It lands a hit, dealing some damage than it would have been done.

"Pupitar!" Riku gasped. Pupitar stood back up. "Good to see you're still standing. Use Thrash!" Pupitar came at Phanpy, dealing some more damage. Molly laughed some more, but Entei turned to the stairs, knowing that Sora and the others have gone up.

Speaking of which, Sora, Kairi, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and Marill kept on going up.

"Hope Riku can hold on for as long as he can," Kris said.

"Me too. But he's capable to hold his own," Ash said.

"He's right. Riku can handle anything thrown at him," Kairi said.

"I hope you're right, Kairi," Lyra said.

"Marill," Marill said.

"So do I," Kairi said.

"We should keep a move on, because it won't be long until Entei gets wise to us, and tries to stop us," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

Back with Delia and Molly, Delia picked up the book and opened it. Molly who is resting on her lap opened her eyes.

"Molly, have you seen this?" Delia asked.

"Uh-huh. That's the book papa used to read me," Molly said. "I'm glad you're here, mama." Delia couldn't help but smile. She looked over to the photos sitting across from her.

"You're by yourself a lot, aren't you, Molly?" Delia asked.

"Yeah," Molly replied.

"Have you been lonely?" Delia asked.

"Maybe a little," Molly said. Delia felt sorry for the little girl. "But I don't feel that way anymore, because I have a mama and a papa now." She shuts her eyes again as Delia kept looking through the book. Delia started to remember the old days.

(Flashback)

We have a look at the wedding of Spncer and Eliza. Spencer's new wife threw the bouquet and Delia catches the bouquet in her hands. Spencer then Kaito caught the garter and he smiled affectionately at her.

We look years ahead to Delia and Kaito's wedding. It was a happy celebration as Spencer and Eliza were among the witnesses to the wedding. We look into six months later at Kaito's funeral. Delia mourned greatly for her late husband, still pregnant with the twins inside. Spencer and Eliza gave her their condolences for her loss.

We now look to years later as Sora and Karen are both little kids and they played with Molly.

(Flashback ends)

Delia looked at the page featuring red rose mallows by a beach. The group of 7 didn't wait long for the teenage Molly to appear before them.

"Which one of you Trainers wants to battle me this time?" Molly asked.

"No way. Riku couldn't beat her," Sora said.

"Pika," Pikachu said.

Entei then appeared the same way as Molly.

"Molly cannot be beaten," Entei said.

"Entei has to be an illusion, too," Sora said.

Unknown to them, Axel have appeared and he grinned.

"An illusion, huh? That explains a whole lot. This could impress even Zexion. Vexen might be skeptical about the whole thing," Axel said.

"So, which one of you wants to take a shot at me next?" Molly asked.

"That would be me," Leaf said. She stepped up. "I'll be your next opponent."

"Sora, the rest of us will stay and deal with Molly while you go and get your mom," Ash whispered.

"What about you?" Sora asked.

"We'll be fine, so don't worry. Also, the real Molly is with her. Get them both and we can get out of here," Ash said. Sora nodded. Sora ran off to get his mom, but Kairi and Angel went with Sora and Pikachu up the stairs. Axel and Team Rocket follows them both, going up.

"What is the source of this whole thing? Looks like I'm going to find out soon," Axel said.

Sora and Kairi heads up the steps right to the top. He sees his mom and the real Molly resting on her lap.

"Mom!" Sora said, getting her attention.

"Sora, Kairi," Delia said. "Is it really you?"

"Yeah, it's us," Sora said.

"Are you okay?" Kairi asked.

"I'm fine now. But that was reckless coming here. I was worried about you turning into a Heartless again," Delia said.

"I had to try something. And I'll tell you this, Karen gave me an earful for what happened," Sora said. He looked at Molly sleeping on her lap.

"Is that her?" Kairi asked.

"Yes," Delia said.

"Mom, you haven't seen any Unown around here, did you?" Sora asked.

"No, but Entei left a little while ago," Delia said.

"Yeah, we saw it. That Entei isn't a real Pokémon at all," Sora said.

"What makes you say that?" Delia asked her son.

"It's the Unown. They're the ones who are really doing this. They have the ability to read the minds of any living creature; even people's," Sora said.

"The crystallization will only get worse if we don't put a stop to it, so that's why we gotta get out of here," Kairi said. Delia agreed.

"Molly, wake up," Delia said. Molly woke up.

"I was dreaming, mama," Molly said.

"Molly, I'm sorry to say this, but I am not your real mother," Delia said. Molly was disheartened. "You see, I'm Sora's mother." Sora stepped up.

"We met a few times, Molly. You, me, and my sister played together. Don't you remember?" Sora asked. Axel have arrived just when no one was looking. He listened to the whole thing.

"We have to go, Molly," Delia said.

"But why?" Molly asked.

"We can talk about it when we get somewhere safe," Delia said.

"You'll need to come with us," Kairi said. Molly stepped back from them.

"No. I won't," Molly said. Below, the Unown were becoming reckless. The core the Unown were circling has turned to yellow to red in response to Molly's emotions. "I won't." Tears builds up in her eyes. "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" Crystal pillars spikes up, much to their surprise. It created an indoor blizzard.

"Mom!" Sora called out.

"Sora, where are you?" Delia asked.

"Okay, this isn't what I was expecting at all. Who would have thought a little girl's imagination would do all this?" Axel asked.

This has taken a turn for the worse. Molly's emotions have gone out of control, same with the Unown all around. Just how will they get out of the mansion before something else happens? Just wait until we get to the next chapter.
