Chapter Two-hundred and seven: The brother, the challenge, and the movie magic

The reborn trainers were outside Kukui's house, watching as Ash was working with his Rockruff, Rowlet, and Litten. "Well it's a good thing that it turned out Sophocles's family was only moving to a new house a few houses down from their old one," Kenny said, "And as such he won't be leaving trainer school after all."

"Yeah, us making that announcement in class yesterday after we found out about it made Lana stop mid-dance," Trip added dryly.

Dawn turned to look over to where Ash was working with his Pokémon, a look of frustrated consideration on his face. "...What's on your mind, Ash?" Dawn asked.

"I'm still trying to figure out how to help Litten learn Fire Fang," Ash said, "He knows it and has some progress on it down, but it's still not perfected."

"If only the old Stoutland hadn't... stepped out... as it were," Kenny said, a hint of somber sadness in his expression. Changing tune real quick, Kenny turned to look at Dawn and said, "Hey Dawn, doesn't Kirara know Fire Fang?"

"Actually, yeah," Dawn said, "She does know Fire Fang. You think Kirara should pick up where the old Stoutland left off in Litten's Fire Fang training?"

Gesturing to Ash, Kenny replied, "If Ash and Litten are chill with it, I fail to see why you shouldn't."

Ash turned to look down at Litten,who seemed a little interested in the prospect of learning from Dawn's Torracat. "Well Litten certainly seems alright with the idea," Ash said, "But it'll have to wait until later. We need to head to school." The reborn trainers all agreed, thus they all grabbed their bags and proceeded to head on off to trainer school for another fun-filled day of whatever asinine chaos ended up unfurling.

Over at the trainer school, the classmates had finished some schoolwork when Sophocles spoke up, "Have you guys heard about that mysterious trainer going around with a Midnight Form Lycanroc and an Umbreon? They say he's aced every battle he's had thus far."

"Hmm..." Kenny said, holding a hand to his chin, "...For reasons that escape me, this guy sounds to me like he's got a ninety-one point six percent chance of being an edge lord."

Ash stood up from his desk, pumping a fist. "I wanna find and challenge that guy to a battle!"

"You want to battle a possible edge lord?" Kenny asked questioningly.

"I think Ash wants to battle him on the basis that he sounds to be a tough trainer," Dawn clarified. Turning to look at Ash, Dawn said, "We can track him down after classes today if you want."

"Awesome!" Ash said, "That guy better watch out, because I'm coming for him!"

...

Later that day after classes, Ash went to the market area with Serena and the reborn trainers. They wandered over to some docks where they saw a blonde boy who Kenny visually identified as a bona fied edge lord battling some guy with a Blastoise. Despite the edge lord having a Midnight Form Lycanroc, he still beat the guy with the Blastoise. As the group got close enough, they also saw that the edge lord had an Umbreon out, standing right next to him. "That guy has a Midnight Form Lycanroc and an Umbreon!" Rotom Dex said upon popping out, "He's bound to be the guy!"

"Then let's go see him!" Ash said, gesturing for everyone else to follow him. About halfway to the edge lord, Ash's group heard Lillie's voice call out, "There you are, Gladion!" Ash and company stopped short when they saw Lillie rush up to the now identified Gladion, with Hobbes in tow. Lillie was carrying Snowy the Alolan Vulpix in her arms. The reborn trainers saw it as Lillie walked up to Gladion; they already knew it was Gladion due to past life knowledge, but had to act like they didn't due to how it would be assumed they didn't know.

When Lillie got up to Gladion, Serena called out, making Lillie and Gladion turn to face her and the others. "You know that boy, Lillie?" Serena said.

"Oh, this is my big brother Gladion," Lillie said as she made the introductions, "Gladion, those are some of my classmates from trainer schoo-"

"So the rumors are true," Gladion said as he focused on the reborn trainers, "Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz is in Alola."

Dawn could tell she was the center of focus, so she played along. "Is me being here that big a deal?"

Gladion held a hand to his chin, looked to be deep in thought. "...Maybe you can help stop those things." Gently shaking his head, Gladion changed the subject. "But that's not important right now. I see you and most of your companions have Z-Rings. Maybe battling one of you will give me the chance to grow stronger."

"I actually came out here to find you so that I could challenge you," Ash remarked.

Gladion turned his attention to Ash, focused on him. "...Yes, you could be a strong challenger as well," Gladion said, "What's your name?"

"The name's Ash Ketchum," Ash replied, "You can find me at Professor Kukui's house."

Gladion nodded once in acknowledgement before turning back to look at Lillie. "I see you can touch Pokémon now," Gladion said as he took note of Lillie holding Snowy, "That's good." Gladion's expression relaxed a bit, he showed a small smile. "I'm glad to see it."

"Miss Lillie has been raising it ever since it was an egg, Master Gladion," Hobbes said, "Anyway, you must come home to the mansion now."

Gently shaking his head, Gladion said, "Sorry, but I still need to train and grow stronger. I also need to look into finding the idiot that Lillie told me about the last time she was able to get a hold of me in a phone call, the idiot who told her that she was going to bleed out of her butt." Pounding a fist into his hand, Gladion said, "No one makes my sister freak like that and get away with it."

Shrugging causally, Kenny remarked in a likewise tone, "Yeah, have fun with that." Gladion nodded once in acknowledgement before recalling his Lycanroc and Umbreon and taking off.

After Gladion was gone, Serena said, "He seemed kind of on edge."

"He's clearly an edge lord, Serena," Kenny said, "It's to be expected."

Turning to look at Lillie, Ash asked, "Can you tell us more about Gladion?"

Nodding once in the affirmative, Lillie replied, "Yes, I think it's best to tell you guys about my brother. It'll help you all understand him better."

The heroes then proceeded to go with Lillie and Hobbes, catching a ride to the mansion in Lillie's limo. As the heroes made their way to the limo, Trip remarked, "I can't help but feel that Professor Kukui is in a lot of trouble."

...

The next day at trainer school, the rest of the class saw it as Ash came in together with Lillie and Serena. "You guys sure cut it close," Sophocles spoke up, "What took you three so long?"

"Ash had a battle with Lillie's brother Gladion who showed up," Serena explained, "But it was interrupted when a trio of Team Scorn members showed up. Ash, Gladion, and I were able to drive them off, but the battle between Ash and Gladion was interrupted so they're going to resume it later. Gladion took off just before Lillie showed up, she was hoping that Gladion would have stuck around long enough for her to have a chance to make him come back home."

"However," Ash said, "I did see Gladion use the rock type Z-Move, and when I asked him about it Gladion said clearing the Grand Trial on Akala Island will net me the Rock Z-Crystal." Ash pounded a fist into his hand. "I'm really excited for the Grand Trial on Akala Island now!" The heroes all agreed that the trials on Akala Island, the Grand Trial especially so, will help Ash, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip grow stronger. As such, the heroes were all looking forward to what Akala Island had in store for them.

A few days later at the hotel on Akala Island, Dawn and the boys were surprised when they walked into the dining hall for complementary breakfast. The reason why they were so surprised was due to the fact that a bunch of students from a school they knew full well couldn't be the trainer school they go to were in there having breakfast. "What manner of bullshittery is this?" Trip asked, "There better still be some of those big muffins left!"

"I will pop someone in the face if the coffee's already gone," Dawn swore, "So help me Odin above in Valhalla, I will-"

"Hey, you guys were with Ideku when Team Scorn attacked Blackthorn City!"

Dawn was cut off when she and the boys heard a teen male voice call out. As such, it was to the surprise of Dawn and Kenny that they were approached by Katsuku Badorigo, the older brother of Ideku Badorigo. Katsuku's friend Justin, along with Justin's girlfriend Amanda and a second girl, were with Katsuku. The second girl was about as tall as Katsuku, with fair skin and long wavy yellow blonde hair. She was slender for the most part aside from a somewhat notable belly. Gesturing to Dawn and the boys, Katsuku said, "What are you guys doing here in Alola? Also who's the new guy?"

"Oh, Katsuku!" Dawn said, "This certainly is a surprise! The new guy is actually my adopted brother Trip." Turning to Trip, Dawn said, "Trip, this is Katsuku Badorigo. He's Ideku's older brother."

"As well as a student of Blackthorn City Academy," Kenny spoke up, "And that brings us back to the million dollar question. What are you and some of your classmates doing here in Alola?"

Rubbing the back of his head, Katsuku said, "Actually, my entire homeroom as well as the whole of our rival homeroom are here on a school trip, partly to celebrate Blackthorn City Academy being fully rebuilt, and partly due to it being a tradition between our school and the trainer school over on Melemele Island."

"Dawn, Kenny, and I are students there," Trip said, "We can introduce you guys to our classmates."

Kenny case a casual glance at Justin, Amanda, and the other girl. "I recognize Justin and Amanda," Kenny said, "But who's the new girl?"

"Oh, I'm Sarah," said the new girl, now identified as Sarah, "And Katsuku and I are dating." Gently rubbing her somewhat notable belly, Sarah added, "Katsuku is also responsible for this."

Dawn, after quickly putting the pieces together in her head, turned to look at Katsuku and shot him a dry look. "...You got your girlfriend pregnant."

"Yeah, umm, don't tell my parents," Katsuku said, "Not because I'm afraid of what they'll do, but because I don't want them involved in the life of me and Sarah's soon to come child. Given how they were rather shitty towards Ideku when he and I were brats, I don't think they deserve to know they're gonna be grandparents. As a point of fact, Sarah, Justin, Amanda, and I have all agreed on a story that we all had an orgy together, and that it's Justin who got Sarah pregnant instead."

"I don't know how we can explain it that Justin got Sarah pregnant due to playing video games," Amanda remarked.

"Yeah, Amanda doesn't know what orgy means," Justin whispered to the reborn trainers, "She just thinks it's a calm, non-lewd activity at sleepovers, like playing video games."

The reborn trainers all nodded in understanding, and likewise agreed to keep the secret. "So how long will you guys be here in Alola?"

"Until some event that Mr. Suwabe said will be called the Mahalo Conference," Katsuku replied, "It gives our class and the guys in our rival class to do assignments based on what we learn here in Alola." Jerking a thumb at Amanda, Katsuku added, "Justin's girlfriend here even caught something called a Shiinotic."

"It's a mushroom Pokémon!" Amanda said, "They're my favorites!"

"Oh yeah, we encountered some Morelulls and a Shiinotic recently," Kenny said, "They tried to put our classmate Sophocles on a diet by sucking his fat out or something, he looked like skin and bones at one point I swear."

"Well anyway," Dawn said, "It's great to see you guys again, but the boys and I need to eat breakfast before heading off to trainer school. Oh! Before I forget." To Katsuku, Dawn said, "Katsuku, your brother is here in Alola, taking the Island Challenge. You... may want to inform him about the addition you guys' family is going to be seeing soon."

Katsuku looked rather surprised to hear that Ideku was in Alola now. "...He's in Alola?" Katsuku was left with a contemplative look on his face as the reborn trainers went about getting breakfast. They would see the students of Blackthorn City Academy later, given their school's trip was staying at the hotel, but for now they had to focus on their own school.

...

To a lack of surprise on the part of the reborn trainers, when they got to trainer school, Professor Kukui had a discussion with Class 1-A about the trip from Blackthorn City Academy. "This trip is especially important to the students of Blackthorn City Academy, as their school had just finished fixing all of the damage that was caused when Team Scorn attacked Blackthorn City as a whole," Kukui said.

Holding up a hand, Mallow said, "Hey wait, wasn't Dawn and Kenny in Blackthorn City at the time of that attack?"

"Yeah, we helped to fight off Team Scorn," Dawn said, "Although the Team Scorn Admin leading the attack did kill one of the teachers." That bit made most of the rest of the class cringe back. "Yeah, as unpleasent as that teacher had been, she didn't deserve Admin Brother killing her," Dawn went on.

Getting the class's attention, Kukui said, "To help the trip from Blackthorn City Academy feel more at home here while they're in Alola for their class trip, Principal Oak is having a contest where each class who decides to enter will make a home movie to present and entertain the trip from Blackthorn City Academy. A student should be bringing by more details for us in a bi-"

Kukui was cut off when a fair-skinned boy with well combed yellow blonde hair entered the classroom, holding a flyer. "I'm here to grace you uncouth Class 1-A swine with the awesome presence of someone from Class 1-B," the blonde boy said, "But only because I was made to deliver details on a film making contest to you all. The lot of you had better appreciate the effort I took."

Leaning to his side to whisper to Dawn, Kenny said, "Someone find a girl with orange-reddish hair in a side ponytail to chop that guy on the back of his head."

The blonde boy then handed the flyer to Ash, the closest student in the classroom to him, before turning around and taking off. After the blonde boy was gone, Ash read aloud the details of the contest. "...Huh," Ash said, "It says here under what genre of movie to try and make should our class decide to enter, we have to gun for making a romantic comedy."

"You think you can lead us in making a romantic comedy movie, Ash?" Serena asked.

Ash was about to speak up, but was cut off when Kenny got up from his desk, walked up to Ash, and took the flyer from him. "You all fail to realize that I, Kenny Harris, am a movie making legend! Under my guidance, our class shall make the finest romantic comedy film that will be shown at that contest for Katsuku and all of his peers from Blackthorn City Academy!"

Arching a wry eyebrow, Trip said, "Since when were you a movie making legend?"

"Since just now," Kenny replied casually, "Anyway, Imma go pester Clemont for some video camera tech, I know he either has some or can invent one up, and then we'll get to work pounding out the details for our movie!" Given that Kenny clearly had more drive to lead making the movie than anyone else in class, they allowed him to take the reins of leading their class in making a romantic comedy home movie.

After classes that day, Kenny had the rest of the class, as well as Clemont and Bonnie, meet in the Class 1-A homeroom. "Okay, here's the deal," Kenny began, "The movie is gonna be called 'Mina Carrow: Girl In Love'. The main protagonist will be the titular Mina, who will be played by Serena."

"I'm getting the lead role without even auditioning for it?" Serena asked, sounding surprised.

"It's to help boost your confidence since your loss at your first Alolan Contest," Kenny replied, "I figured you starring in a successful romantic comedy will help boost your confidence."

Ash actually nodded in approval to Kenny's line of thinking. "It's actually pretty great that you have Serena's best interest in mind, Kenny."

Pointing at Ash, Kenny remarked, "Well you better be ready Ash, because you're getting the part of Chad Chinbeat, the local heartthrob who Serena's character will work towards trying to win over. Also, you and Serena will at one point be required to do a lip on lip contact kiss, so you better be ready for that."

Serena instantly lit up red as a tomato out of embarrassment as she was slated to kiss Ash on the lips. As for Ash, he simply shrugged and said, "Well it is a romance movie, so kissing is to be expected. Alright."

Kenny then turned around and began to write on a portable dry erase board that was the size of the chalkboards at the front of class. He wrote 'Mina Carrow' and 'Chad Chinbeat' on opposite ends at the top. "Now as we all know," Kenny went on, "Characters like Mina and Chad have friend groups. For Mina's friend group..." Kenny paused to write out two different descriptions of characters. "...She has a shy nerdy friend who will play up the Shrinking Violet trope," Kenny said, "And a fat friend who will play up the Fat Best Friend trope. These are the first roles that you girls can audition for."

"Problem with the fat friend role," Bonnie spoke up, "None of your girl classmates are even remotely fat." Pointing at Sophocles, Bonnie asked, "Are you gonna make Sophocles here do it?"

"Great start to my afternoon," Sophocles said in a dry, mildly sarcastic tone.

"Umm, actually Bonnie," Kenny said, "The girl who gets the part of the fat friend will wear a fat suit."

"No," Lana said flatly.

"It... it's just a padded suit to make the wearer look fat," Kenny said, "The girl who wears it won't actually be-"

"Still no," Lana said, "I refuse to even consider putting it on."

Rolling his eyes, Kenny said, "Well I can see you won't audition for the role of Serena's character's fat friend." Kenny then turned to face the dry erase board to write a few descriptions under 'Chad Chinbeat', Kenny said, "As for Ash's character's friends, one will be an athletic minded fellow playing up the Lovable Jock trope, while the other will be something of a nerdy character playing up the Extroverted Nerd trope. The guys, aside from Ash as he's playing Chad, will audition for these roles." Going on to write something in more of the center of the board, Kenny went on, "Now, Mina will have to deal with an antagonist, a mean petty pretty popular girl at school who will be the quintessential Alpha Bitch-"

"Kenny, language!" Clemont exclaimed, quickly covering Bonnie's ears.

Rolling his eyes, Kenny said, "Fine, Alpha Jerk. This character will also have shades of being a haughty noblewoman type character, even occasionally doing the stereotypical haughty noblewoman's laugh." Kenny paused to do a haughty noblewoman laugh to show what he was talking about. "The goal of Serena's character in the movie is to score a major social win against the Alpha Jerk girl, which will lead to her winning the heart of Ash's character, they have a big kiss, and bada bing bada boom, a successful romantic comedy movie." Clapping his hands together, Kenny said, "Now, I believe that the Alpha Jerk character can best be played by Dawn, who-"

"No," Dawn said flatly, an unamused look on her face as she folded her arms over her chest.

Kenny, looking mildly surprised, said, "But... but given how much presence you can command, I figured-"

"I refuse to have to do a haughty noblewoman laugh, it looks dumb," Dawn said, "And I'm not all that fond of having to play a jerk character anyway."

"But..." Kenny said, "...But you have the most swagger out of all of the girls in cla-"

"I'd rather play the role that requires me to wear a fat suit," Dawn interrupted, "Seriously, do not make me do a haughty noblewoman type alpha jerk character, Kenny. I will malice you with a shoehorn if you do."

"Well..." Kenny said, "...Well I guess being a movie director means rolling with the punches. And at least there's one girl willing to audition for the role of Mina's fat friend." Perking back up, Kenny said, "Alright, now for the Alpha Jerk's Girl Posse, we need two girls."

"I think we might be running short here," Clemont spoke up, "Serena's character's group will total three, as will the mean girl's group. In your class, the only girls are Dawn, Serena, Lana, Mallow, and Lillie. That's five."

"That's why you're our tech expert, Clemont," Kenny said, "You can use digital movie magic to duplicate one of the girls. The in-movie explanation will be that they're clones."

"Wouldn't saying they're identical twins work better?" Kiawe asked, "Also, when will the auditions start? I feel like I can bring a lot to life playing the role of Chad's nerdy friend."

"You... wanted to try out for..." Kenny said, "...Okay! We'll go for calling them identical twins, also auditions will be held as soon as I write up and print copies of the script." Kenny then wrote out a few more details for the movie on the dry erase board, and the rest of the class got more and more into it. When everything was done, the class broke for the day, and would meet tomorrow to see how far Kenny got in script writing."

The following day, the rest of class was surprised that Kenny not only finished the script already, but that it'll make a movie about forty minutes long. According to Dawn, Kenny literally didn't sleep the previous night as he was up the whole night through writing, but Kenny looked like he wasn't lacking sleep. Kenny attributed this to the power of cringe. There were enough copies of the script for all the classmates, and within short order auditions were held in the Class 1-A homeroom to determine who ended up getting which role.

Serena and Ash got the role of Mina Carrow and Chad Chinbeat respectively, as they were actually assigned to them by Kenny. Dawn got the role of Mina's fat friend by virtue of being the only girl who tried for the role, also it turned out Dawn's literally the only girl in class willing to wear a fat suit. Kiawe ended up getting the role of Chad's Extroverted Nerd friend because he really did bring the most life to the role to Kenny's surprise; Kenny had intended the Lovable Jock role for Kiawe and the Extroverted Nerd role for Sophocles or perhaps Clemont.

But Kiawe really sold it, and Kenny was both impressed and a little humbled for having sold some of his peers short. The Lovable Jock role ended up being taken by Trip, although this caused some embarrassment as, according to the script, during the final dance where Mina and Chad (Serena and Ash) kiss, the Lovable Jock dances with and even kisses Mina's fat friend. This meant that Trip will have to kiss Dawn, who is his sister. Kenny said that Dawn and Trip can leave out the kiss and instead just dance, much to the relief of the Berlitz siblings.

As for the role of Mina's shy nerdy friend, it ended up being taken by Lillie, given she was able to play up the shy angle the best. Mallow ended up getting the role of the mean girl, and Lana got the role as the identical twin girls serving as Mallow's character's girl posse. When Kiawe pointed out the characters aside from Serena's and Ash's didn't have names, Kenny said that the names of the unnamed characters will be the same as the people playing them; for example, Mina's friends will be Dawn the fat girl and Lillie the shy nerd.

When Lana pointed out that she's playing two characters who might both be named Lana, Kenny said one of their names will be Lana spelled backwards, but when Dawn whispered to Kenny what Lana spelled backwards is, Kenny immediately said the other twin can be named Misty, after another girl he knows who looks to have a liking for water type Pokémon. Ash nodded in approval to the reference to an old friend. It was clear Kenny had no idea what Lana spelled backwards was until it was pointed out to him, and it did explain why he profusely apologized to Lana. Lana, who didn't understand, accepted the apology nonetheless.

Then they were able to get to work on the movie. The first scene of the movie showed Serena's character running along a street with a piece of toast sticking out of her mouth. A voice over that will be added later said in Serena's voice, "That's me, Mina Carrow, but my friends call me MC. You can tell I'm the heroine of this story because I'm running late to school with a piece of toast in my mouth." According to Kenny, the piece of toast in the mouth of the heroine while she's running late to school is essential, much to the mildly baffled looks of Sophocles, Kiawe, and even Trip.

The movie then showed Mina arriving to school, being greeted by her friends, Lillie the shy nerd and Dawn the fat girl. It was Kenny who applied the make up to make it look like Lillie's character had a bit of an acne problem (to help with the nerdy look), and the fat suit plus prosthetic double chin that Dawn wore looked so good it was as if Dawn was actually very fat for real. Kiawe actually asked Kenny where he got the movie studio make up and the stuff for the fat suit, to which Kenny said that some director guy who said he owed Kenny a debt of gratitude was supplying him.

Then there was a scene with the mean girl group, led by cheer-leading squad captain Mallow, who was backed by identical twins Lana and Misty (digital movie magic thanks to Clemont). Mallow said she knew that Mina had the hots for school heartthrob Chad Chinbeat, at which mention the camera panned to show Chad, played by Ash, talking to his friends, Trip the Lovable Jock and Kiawe the Extroverted Nerd. Trip just swapped his outfit's regular shirt out for a baseball jersey from when the class played baseball a short while ago, and Kiawe wore black pants held up with red suspenders, a red bowtie, and a pair of black horn-rimmed glasses taped at the bridge.

After the mean girls left, Lillie and Dawn asked Mina what she was going to, to which Mina said she'd run for homecoming queen. A bunch of shenanigans were shown, there's an election, Mina wins, she shares a dance with Chad at the school dance while Lillie danced with Kiawe and Dawn danced with Trip, Mallow's humiliated when a punch bowl lands on her, and the movie ended with a shot of Mina and Chad kissing on the lips. After editing and adding credits at the end, the movie's run time ended up being about thirty-eight and a half minutes.

...

A good couple of days before the movie contest, there was a preview showing of 'Mina Carrow: Girl In Love' in the Class 1-A homeroom. All of the class was there, as was Kukui, Principal Oak, Lana's mom and kid sisters, Kiawe's mom and kid sister Mimo, Sophocles's mom, Johanna, Grace, Kenny's mom and kid sister, and Hobbes the butler for Lillie's family. Even Gladion was there as he wanted to support his sister, and the heroes were surprised to see that even Paul and Ideku were free to come by and watch, as was Paul's brother Reggie.

When the movie ended, everyone stood up and applauded. "For a movie that was obviously made at an amateur level, it was of a surprisingly good quality," Paul said, "And I can also tell you guys had a lot of fun making it. Kind of makes me wish I was a part of things." Both Ideku and even Gladion also voiced that they wished that they were a part of things.

"Yes, I've seen some of the other movies made for the movie contest, and this one by far is the best quality," Principal Oak said, "But I have to ask. Class 1-A, why did you make what's clearly a romantic comedy when the contest called for an action movie?"

"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait," Kenny said, "What do you mean action movie? The flyer some blonde boy from Class 1-B said romantic comedy! I even have that flyer with me right now!" Kenny took out the flyer and handed it to Principal Oak.

After going over it, Principal Oak said, "This flyer's very clearly been edited to require the wrong genre of movie. You said a blonde boy in Steinburg's class gave you this flyer? I'll look into it, this is clearly an act of sabotage." Sighing in a resigned tone, Principal Oak went on, "Which makes this all the more unfortunate as, due to the rules of the contest, you can't enter this movie."

Kenny turned to look where all of his classmates were seated. "You guys, we have a few days to make an action movie!"

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND SEVEN

Author's notes;

This chapter introduces Gladion to the setting, as well as skim over the baseball episode, Sophocles's moving episode, and the one with the Morelulls and Shiinotic. It also sees Katsuku and his peers from Blackthorn City Academy come to Alola on an inter-regional school trip, partly to celebrate Blackthorn City Academy finishing all repairs from the first Team Scorn attack. Katsuku and his peers coming to Alola spurs Principal Oak to host a movie making contest that classes can enter, and the class the heroes are in gets a flyer saying the contest calls for romantic comedies to be made.

As such, Kenny takes the lead in producing Class 1-A's romantic comedy movie, using it as an excuse to help boost Serena's confidence by setting it up so that she and Ash have to kiss each other on the lips. There's a few hiccups in the process, but Kenny learned to roll with the punches and eventually the movie's made, shown to an audience a good few days before the contest is held. The movie gets a standing ovation, and even Paul, Ideku, and Gladion who also came by to watch the movie liked it, all of them citing wishes of having been part of the process themselves.

Then Principal Oak asked why a romantic comedy was made when the contest called for action movies to be made instead. Kenny showed Principal Oak the flyer their class got, and after Principal Oak confirmed that Class 1-A had been sabotaged, Kenny in something of a panicked tone tells his peers they only have a few days to make an action movie. The wish that Paul, Ideku, and Gladion all have may very well end up being granted as Kenny Harris Studios will be making an action movie, which will be covered in the next chapter.
