Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai

Chapter Two-hundred and nine: Akala Anarchy

It was early morning on Melemele Island where Dawn and Kenny (Trip slept in) went to a grassy area to investigate rumors of a bluish canine Pokémon having appeared. Given the location as well as the description of the Pokémon in question, Dawn was able to deduce that the Pokémon in question is a shiny Rockruff. Kenny mentioned that he wanted to get a Rockruff and evolve it into Lycanroc and, while he's happy with just the six total shiny Pokémon he has right now, a seventh one wouldn't be turned away per say.

Dawn was also in the mood to catch a Rockruff and evolve it, she has a preference for Midday Form Lycanroc as she had one in her party in her previous life when she played through Sun Version for the first time. She couldn't care less if she got a shiny Rockruff or not, the only shiny Pokémon she had actually tried for in the games in her previous life was Hariyama, but if she ended up catching the rumored shiny Rockruff then so be it. As such, Dawn and Kenny eventually found their way into where the rumored shiny Rockruff ought to be.

"Man, going on an adventure like this," Kenny said, "Just you and me Dawn my main man, really takes me back."

Dawn nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it certainly has been a while since the last time it was just the two of us in a region." Looking around the grassy area, Dawn said, "Well anyway, let's see if we can find that Rockruff, if only to see if it really is a shiny like what the rumors suggest."

Pumping a fist into the air, Kenny cheered, "Oh man, I am so gonna have fun with catching a Rockruff! It's gonna be a perfect fit right into the cringe pos-"

"Dawn? Kenny? Is that you?"

The two reborn trainers stopped short upon hearing the familiar voice of Max, May's younger brother, speak up. Turning around, they spotted the young boy, his shiny Mightyena by his side, as he looked to be leaving the area to go back to wherever it is that he's staying while he and May are in Alola. Max still looked to be a little on the skinny side. "Oh, 'sup Max?" Kenny asked.

Sighing in a mildly exasperated tone, Max said, "I came here because I heard Rockruff can be found in the wild in this area, and I've been wanting to catch one. It also gave me a chance to get away from May who's still pestering me to eat more."

"Well your face is still looking a bit thin, lil' man," Kenny replied, "Can you blame a sister for worrying?"

As Max rolled his eyes, Dawn asked, "So did you find a Rockruff and catch it?"

Nodding once, Max said, "Oh yeah, I caught a Rockruff just like what I've been wanting, but she doesn't look much like Ash's Rockruff." To showcase this, Max took out and expanded a Poké Ball before tossing it up, calling out a bluish Rockruff in the process.

"That's the shiny Rockruff that Kenny and I heard rumors about," Dawn said dryly in a flat tone.

"Rockruff here is a shiny of her species?" Max asked while his Rockruff and Mightyena sniffed at each other, wagging their tails the whole time. As Max was talking with Dawn and Kenny, a pair of wild Rockruffs, both of them normally colored, came scampering over. They seemed happy and excited, and jumped about while yapping at Max's two shiny canine Pokémon, clearly just wanting to play. "Yeah, both of these look like Ash's Rockruff," Max said while he gestured to the two wild Rockruff that scampered over to play.

"Actually, this is perfect," Kenny said, "Dawn and I both came here to catch ourselves a Rockruff each. We also wanted to look into the rumors we heard of a shiny Rockruff and catch that if said rumors were true, but you beat us to the punch."

The catching of the two Rockruffs proved surprisingly easy for Dawn and Kenny; Dawn just had to bribe the one she caught with food and promises of more, and Kenny's actually jumped at the spare Poké Ball Kenny took out to catch it with due to being under the impression Kenny was going to play with it, getting caught as a result. The two reborn trainers wished Max luck with his time in Alola before taking off, not wanting to be late for trainer school; they'll handle the business of working with their new Rockruffs later.

Later at the trainer school, Dawn and Kenny told the rest of the class how they each caught a Rockruff, as well as met Max who they said caught the rumored shiny Rockruff. "I heard that Rockruffs have two different forms for their evolutions, depending on the time of day they evolve," Lillie said, "Do either of you plan to evolve your Rockruffs into specific forms of Lycanroc?"

"I'm gunning for evolving Fenrir into the Midday Form," Dawn explained.

"Ooh, that form of Lycanroc is actually rather popular with women in Alola from what I heard," Mallow spoke up, "My mom told me that Olivia, the Kahuna of Akala Island, owns a Midday Form Lycanroc." Giving Dawn a curious look, Lana added, "Also, Fenrir?"

"That's the name I gave to the Rockruff I caught," Dawn explained, "I think it's a fitting name for him."

Sophocles was about to speak up, but got cut off when he and the rest of the class heard a crashing sound outside the classroom, followed by a woman crying out, "WAAHH!" A few moments later, a somewhat disheveled looking Olivia came walking into the classroom while following Kukui in. She was dressed as she was in the anime, so her outfit also included that yellow shirt open in the front over her regular outfit. "Sorry, that scream came from me," Olivia said, "I tripped."

"Class, this is Olivia, the Kahuna of Akala Island," Kukui said, "She's going to be leading our field trip to Akala Island."

"We're going to Akala Island for the field trip?" Serena asked.

"And it's good that Olivia is leading us," Kiawe said, "She's a strong, dependable trainer befitting the role of Akala Island's Kahuna. I had actually battled her once and gotten both my Z-Ring and a Firium Z for winning."

"Firium Z?" Ash said, "Gladion told me that when he won a Rockium Z from battling the Akala Island Kahuna."

"The items I gave Kiawe were his grandfather's," Olivia explained, "He had to be tested first to prove worthy of using them." Holding up her own Z-Ring, Olivia said, "For those of you taking on the Island Challenge, I'll be your opponent in the Akala Grand Trial. I'm also going to serve as one of the judges for the first Pokémon Contest that will be held on Akala Island."

"Then I guess that means Ash, Dawn, Kenny, and I will be seeing you soon for our Grand Trials," Trip said, "And Serena will see you when she enters the-"

"Wait a minute," Olivia said, "Did you say Kenny? As in Kenny Harris of Kenny Harris Studios?"

"That's... the name of the website Kenny made to put up the movies we've made," Dawn replied, "Why do you-"

"I love those movies!" Olivia said, "Although between the two out so far I have to say Mina Carrow: Girl In Love is my favorite!"

"A new movie will be out when I come up with one," Kenny replied, "Maybe it can utilize our Pokémon more in physical roles, rather than just helping with special effects."

"Ooh, that reminds me," Olivia said, "I wanna see the Pokémon you kids have!"

...

Outside in a courtyard, the heroes and their classmates each brought out a Pokémon. To the surprise of Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, Ash went with his Greninja, who caught Olivia's attention. "...Greninja here is suspicious of someone it had seen in the past," Olivia said, "Greninja believes said person in question is not to be trusted."

Ash, as well as Serena and the reborn trainers, knew what Olivia was talking about although Olivia herself didn't know the details, she only knew that Greninja was suspicious of someone. "...Yeah, a trainer I met in the Kalos region," Ash said, "His name is Alain. I'm not sure why Greninja doesn't trust Alain, but I'm trusting its judgment on the matter."

Olivia gave a small and gentle smile. "That would explain why Greninja is so happy with you. You trust it for having its reasons." The class soon had to recall of the Pokémon that they had out before heading to the Marina to get a boat to take them over to Akala Island. When there proved to be a lack of space on the boat, Dawn flew alongside the boat on Lincoln, and Trip rode on Cameron who swam next to the boat.

"Hey Cameron," Trip said to his named Kyogre, "Lana there on the boat-" Trip pauses to point Lana out to Cameron, "-Said she once reeled you in while you were still a wild Pokémon. You ever seen her before?" The named Kyogre, after looking at Lana, gently shook its head, or the portion of its body that was a head, in the negative.

"I knew that Lana was lying," Sophocles scoffed, sounding justified.

"I was just trying to tell an interesting story, okay?" Lana scowled.

After freeing a trapped wild Wailmer and defeating a wild Bruxish (Lincoln one-shot the Bruxish with Dragon Pulse), the heroes and their classmates made it to Akala Island. They first went to Paniola Town, where Olivia led them to a barn full of Ride Stoutland. "Maybe Ash's Litten will find a new granddaddy, hmm?" Kenny said, only to draw a smack to the back of his head from Dawn.

The class was told the Stoutlands have an uncanny ability to find treasure, so they were instructed to each pick a Stoutland and go find treasures, returning at the sound of a bell so that their finds may be evaluated. Lillie due to still having some lingering fears of Pokémon was unable to mount a Stoutland, and Lana with some difficulty got onto a somewhat unruly Stoutland. The other students had no problems with theirs, so soon enough everyone was able to set off on a treasure hunt, Akala style.

...

Dawn was alone in a somewhat rocky area while riding on her Ride Stoutland. In the bag on Dawn's left side were the treasures she had found thus far, including several fossils. "I hope these are impressive enough to catch Olivia's attention," Dawn remarked aloud but to herself, "Heh, the fossils I found remind me of Souji and Ieyasu, as both of them were revived from foss-"

"Stop right there, girl!"

Dawn was cut off when she heard a man's voice call out. Looking over, she spotted Captain Konichi, the Fourth Captain of Team Scorn's Scarf Sector, backed by his Captain's Assistant with the long green hair and four standard male Team Scorn grunts. "We're going to be taking that Ride Pokémon of yours!" Konichi declared, "So get off of it and hand it over unless you wanna get hurt!"

Dawn, giving the driest and most bored of looks, replied, "...Really? You're doing this now?" When Konichi sent out his Magneton, Dawn sighed and said, "Alright, I guess." Dawn then sent out Lincoln, beginning the battle.

...

A few moments later, Kukui sounded the bell earlier than he anticipated when he got a report from Dawn that she was harassed by a group of Team Scorn members. Granted, Dawn had utterly defeated Konichi and all of the men with him as they stood no chance especially when Dawn decided to send in Tobias to back Lincoln up, but the fact still remained that a student was harassed by Team Scorn.

Mallow said that she had to ride like the wind when a pair of Team Scorn grunts spotted her and tried to give chase, and Sophocles said he was only able to ride away from another pair of Team Scorn grunts because a pair of Team Skull grunts showed up to confront Team Scorn. Due to the high rate of Team Scorn activity during the exercise, it was ended early to insure the safety of the students.

Olivia did take into account what treasures the heroes and their classmates found before the treasure hunt was ended early, and she determined that Dawn won overall due to finding multiple fossils that she (Olivia) put at one-hundred points each. Olivia, as a reward, gave Dawn a silver cuff bangle inlaid with bits of turquoise. The cuff bangle was about as big and wide as Dawn's Z-Ring.

Kukui, citing a personal worry for the safety and well-being of his students, said that while tomorrow's extracurricular activity of going wherever on Akala Island to do whatever will still be allowed, the students weren't allowed to go anywhere alone, also he'll pull all of them back the moment that he hears of Team Scorn acting up in any manner whatsoever. The students, although annoyed to hear this, understood as Team Scorn was not to be trifled with, especially given how they occasionally tend to be impossible for one to wrap their head around.

The next day during the Akala Island field trip, Lana said she wanted to do some fishing at Brooklet Hill, citing how she wanted to reel in the biggest Pokémon that she could. "Oh, I heard that there's a Totem Pokémon at Brooklet Hill," Olivia said, "Swimming around in the water."

"Ooh, a Totem Pokémon!" Lana said, "I-"

"-Will be taking me, Kenny, and Trip along," Dawn interrupted, cutting Lana off and making her turn to look at her. "Also Ash as well," Dawn said, "Sorry Lana, but Totem Pokémon are a primary target for Team Scorn. If Team Scorn is as crafty as they've proven to be in the past, then chances are they may have heard the rumor of the Totem Pokémon at Brooklet Hill and will go after it."

Kukui had a concerned look on his face upon hearing what Dawn said. "...Yeah, Team Scorn did try making moves to grab the Totem Gumshoos. If you kids do go to Brooklet Hill and see Team Scorn show up, then do what all you can to get away, even if it means you find a Totem Pokémon but have to abandon it to Team Scorn. With all due respect, I have to prioritize my students and their safety, and if that means letting Team Scorn grab what they want then so be it!"

The heroes, surprised by how serious Kukui was being, as he seldom ever appears serious, nodded in agreement. If Team Scorn DID show up at Brooklet Hill, then they would be chased off by the vast amount of legend power that Dawn, Kenny, and Trip had between them, but the point still remained that Kukui, when it came down to it, did NOT want to risk his students. Not when dangerous criminals, and ones no less from an organization who has members confirmed to have taken lives before, were all running about the place.

That level of worry and care for his students was yet another reason why Kukui was a cool teacher.

...

Over at Brooklet Hill, Lana was walking ahead of Ash and the reborn trainers, excited to do some fishing. "Don't get too far ahead, Lana," Kenny warned, "We ought to stick close together for safety reasons."

"You know, it's kind of weird that Team Scorn is acting up here on Akala Island all of a sudden," Trip said, "I mean, how do they know what all is here?"

"Maybe their new Sector has been able to lay the ground work for the base for an info network or something," Dawn remarked, "And that it gives them a head up when something of interest to them pops up."

"...Dawn, you said that Team Scorn yesterday harassed you for the Ride Stoutland yesterday, right?" Ash said, "They tried something similar for the Ride Charizard that Kiawe has."

"So Team Scorn, in addition to wanting to grab a hold of Totem Pokémon, also wanna get a hold of Ride Pokémon," Kenny said, "But why do-"

"What do you mean I need your permission to seek out the Totem Pokémon here? You don't look like you're part of any staff managing the trials here in Alola!"

Kenny was cut off when he and the others heard the voice of Ideku call out, making them all run ahead to see Ideku having an argument with a man dressed as a fisherman. "Sorry, but you need to prove yourself to me in order to seek out the Totem Pokémon," the fisherman said, "It's a fierce beast I had spent decades tangling with on and off." Showing a scar on his arm, the fisherman said, "This scar here came from one of our battles, where-"

The fisherman was cut off when Ideku reached forward with his right hand, grabbed the end of the 'scar', and peeled it away, revealing it to be a fake scar decal. "...You're a damn liar," Ideku scowled, "A liar who likes to force others to abide by his will solely to stroke his own ego." Dropping the fake scar on the ground, Ideku snarled at the now nervous fisherman, "Now here's what will happen. You will get out of my way and let me proceed to face the Totem Pokémon, and afterwards I will report you for trying to obstruct my advancement through the Island Cha-"

"Hey Ideku," Dawn called out, making Ideku and the fisherman turn to face the heroes as they came up, "What's going on here?"

Pointing at the fisherman, Ideku said, "This here supposed 'master' fisherman was trying to force me to get his approval to challenge the Totem Pokémon here despite how he's clearly not part of any staff managing the Island Challenge. He's also a blowhard with an over-inflated sense of ego."

"Sir, with all due respect, you deliberately stalling someone here isn't all that nice," Dawn said, "Not to mention that given Team Scorn is after Totem Pokémon, and you obstructing people who could stop them could be seen as Obstruction of Justice, which in some places CAN get the offending person arrested."

"I just want people to focus on me and think I'm great and awesome!" the fisherman complained, "Is that too much to-"

"Alright, men! That Totem Pokémon looks to be on the ropes!"

"WOOOSSSHHH!"

The fisherman was cut off when he and everyone else heard some voices coming from a ways away behind them, followed by a deep bellowing cry. "Sounds to me like someone's fighting the Totem Pokémon!" the fisherman said.

Focusing a bit, the heroes were able to make out a few voices, with one male voice sticking out to Dawn. "...That's Bulat," Dawn said, "I got it that he and his girlfriend Yomi had joined Team Scorn." Dawn, with Ash, Kenny, Trip, and Ideku, tried running towards the area they heard the voices coming from.

But the fisherman got in the way. "Hey, you still have to get my permission to go in!" the fisherman insisted, "I can't let any of you pass unless I know I still matter!"

Calling out her named Latios, Dawn said, "Lincoln, use Psychic to levitate this man and move him out of our way." The named Latios then used Psychic, his eyes glowing with psychic energy, as the fisherman was surrounded with the same energy, floated up, then flung into a nearby small lake.

"We'll report you for Obstruction of Justice later!" Ideku shouted as he and the heroes all ran in to go confront Team Scorn.

...

Inside the major lake area of Brooklet Hill, a number of Team Scorn members were trying to wrangle a Totem Wishiwashi, currently in its School Form. Standing by and supervising everything was Bulat, now wearing a yellow and dark blue pallet swap of his old outfit. Standing next to him was Yomi, wearing the female Team Scorn grunt outfit for the Alola region. "Okay, send another volley of attacks at it," Bulat commanded, "It ought to get worn down after that! Things are going smoothly, especially since we've taken out that Alomomola that showed up to-"

"Lincoln, use Aura Sphere!"

Bulat was cut off when he and Yomi heard a voice call out, followed by an Aura Sphere flying in and hitting the ground near his and Yomi's feet. Bulat, as well as Yomi and a few other Team Scorn grunts, turned and saw Dawn standing there with her named Latios. Ash, Kenny, Trip, Ideku, and Lana were all standing there with Dawn. "...You're that girl I fought before the petty people of Olivine City chased me and Yomi out," Bulat said evenly to Dawn.

"You don't have to do this, Team Scorn," Ideku said evenly, getting Bulat to turn to face him.

In response, Bulat merely laughed. "Heh, that's pretty funny, trainer. Saying I don't have to carry out an order from my Sector's Admin." Shrugging, Bulat went on, "Sorry, but Admin Mage got it from higher up the Team Scorn grapevine that getting a hold of one of these Totem Pokémon is a must. If it helps, once Team Scorn DOES get its hands on a Totem Pokémon, we'll stop harassing what all others there are in Alola."

"Well then," Dawn began, "It sounds to me like you guys will never stop harassing the Totem Pokémon, because you guys will NEVER get one!" A huge battle then ensued between the heroes and Team Scorn, where both sides sent out multiple Pokémon each. However, given the quality of the Pokémon being used by the heroes, it was clear that they were going to clean up shop there at Brooklet Hill. Helping things out was the fact that the Totem Wishiwashi, seeing that the heroes were trying to save it from the evil humans, decided to help out by attacking Pokémon used by members of Team Scorn.

Naturally, Bulat was the toughest Team Scorn member at Brooklet hill to take down, as Yomi confirmed that he's actually the Second Captain of Team Scorn's Scarf Sector, with Yomi herself serving as Bulat's Captain's Assistant. Yomi and Bulat himself were defeated after they fought Dawn and Ideku, who used Latios and Meganium respectively, although Ideku spent the first few rounds providing support by setting up Light Screen and Reflect while Dawn had Lincoln take out Bulat's Pokémon as he sent them out into battle. Eventually, after Dawn and Ideku took out Bulat and Yomi, Ash and the others finished defeating the rest of the Team Scorn grunts who were present at Brooklet Hill.

Seeing as how they were beaten, Team Scorn decided to flee, with Bulat scoffing in annoyance how they couldn't take the Totem Pokémon. After that, things were settling down for the heroes as the Totem Wishiwashi, having reverted to its Solo Form, swam up to where the heroes stood near the edge of its lake and coughed up a handful of Waterium Z crystals; one each for the heroes taking the Island Challenge. Dawn, Kenny, Trip, Ash, and Ideku each took a Waterium Z and, after thanking the Totem Wishiwashi, they and Lana took off, the day having been saved.

Kukui, although a bit upset to hear that some of his students had confronted Team Scorn, realized that they didn't have much of a choice given the situation. Also helping was how his students taking the Island Challenge also got new Z Crystals. When Ash's group asked what the others did, Kiawe said that the rest of the class all went with him to his family's farm, but Kiawe did all the farm work while the rest of his group sat back an enjoyed dairy treats made at the farm. At least until a random wild Alolan Marowak showed up and caused some trouble, that is.

Kiawe eventually defeated and caught the Alolan Marowak and, as apology for having lazed about beforehand, the rest of Kiawe's group helped to clean up the farm and repair the damage from the tussle with the Alolan Marowak. The mention of Kiawe catching an Alolan Marowak, which is part fire type, reminded Kukui that the subject of the class's next lesson during the Akala Island field trip, that being the Wela Fire Festival held at Wela Volcano Park, had to be canceled because the event organizers didn't want to take any risks while there was active Team Scorn activity on Akala Island.

The next morning, the class was divided into three teams of three and brought to a forest area. Kukui and Olivia told them that the day's activity will see them gather ingredients for Akala Curry, a delicacy of Akala Island that dates back years. Kenny said that he had this one in the bag, given his experience in cooking curry during camp-out sessions while traveling. The teams ended up being Ash, Kiawe, and Serena, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, then lastly Mallow, Lana, and Lillie with Sophocles tacked on as Kukui admitted to having miscalculated when he decided on teams of three.

...

Dawn, Kenny, and Trip were having a relatively easy time gathering the ingredients on their list. They were at one point bothered by a group of angry wild Fomantis, but the reborn trainers simply sicced powerful fire Pokémon on them, defeating them and making them flee. This allowed the group to pick up one of the ingredients on their list given to them by Olivia. "Hey, didn't Olivia say something about clearing a trial in these woods before we can face her?" Kenny asked.

"I suspect that there's a Totem Pokémon lurking about in these woods," Trip said, "Probably a grass type."

Dawn, from what she remembered from the video games in her previous life, was guessing it'd be a Totem Lurantis; with the powerful fire Pokémon that Dawn and the boys had between them, defeating the Totem Lurantis will be child's play. But clearing the trial wasn't what worried Dawn. No, she was worried about a repeat of what all had gone down yesterday with the Totem Wishiwashi, and that Team Scorn will show up to cause trouble in the name of capturing and claiming a Totem Pokémon in the name of whatever vile schemes they had in store for it.

Gently shaking her head, Dawn said, "Well boys, whatever the challenge may be, we ought to-"

"RANTIS!"

"That's it, men! Keep trying to wrangle that Totem Pokémon while I handle this would be hero!"

"You won't get away with this, Team Scorn!"

Dawn was cut off when she and the boys heard some shouting coming from a ways away. "...That sounds like that Captain Konichi fellow," Dawn said, "And he's fighting Ideku!"

The reborn trainers were about to head off in the direction they heard the shouting from, but they stopped short when they were met up by Ash, Kiawe, and Serena. "Did you guys hear that shouting just now too?" Ash asked.

"Sounds to me like Team Scorn wants to tango with another Totem," Kenny said, "A Totem tango."

"Ideku sounds like he's facing Team Scorn alone," Dawn said, "We need to go back him up!" Ash's group all nodded in agreement with Dawn before they all ran off in the direction the shouting came from.

...

Ideku was facing off against Konichi and Konichi's Captain's Assistant in a battle while a few other Team Scorn members, all of them grunts, were trying to wrangle the Totem Lurantis. Ideku was using a mix of Meganie and Cupidos to confront Konichi and the Captain's Assistant with long green hair. Although the roaming trainer from the Johto region was doing well enough against the ranking members of Team Scorn that were present, that wouldn't matter if the grunts were successful in wrangling the Totem Lurantis and taking it away.

As such, it was to Ideku's relief when he heard the familiar voice of Dawn call out, "Tobias, use Dark Pulse to scatter the Pokémon being used by those Team Scorn members to harass the big Lurantis!"

A Dark Pulse attack flew in and blasted away a group of Team Scorn owned Pokémon, and the Team Scorn members plus Ideku all turned to see Dawn come running in with Kenny, Trip, Ash, Kiawe, and Serena. Floating at Dawn's side was her named Darkrai. "You in a bind, Ideku?" Dawn asked.

Nodding once, Ideku replied, "I could use some help in dealing with the Team Scorn rank and file! I got their Captain and his helper here handled well enough!"

"Men, some of you focus on dealing with the new comers!" Konichi barked.

Due to the arrival of more heroes, Team Scorn was pressed from multiple sides. Eventually Ideku defeated Konichi and his Captain's Assistant, just in time to turn to look and see that Dawn and the others were handling the Team Scorn grunts. The Totem Lurantis, seeing that the heroes were helping it, decided to fight back against Team Scorn, helping the heroes fend Team Scorn off. Eventually, all of Team Scorn there was defeat and they were forced to retreat, leaving as empty handed as their efforts yesterday had been for them.

"Ideku, are you alright?" Dawn asked.

Ideku had a bit of a frustrated look on his face. He gave a brisk shake of his head. "I... I just realized that despite what all skill and strength I have as a trainer, I would have failed to save the Totem Lurantis over there from falling into Team Scorn's clutches due to the sheer number of Team Scorn members that were here." To the heroes, Ideku went on, "Team Scorn is a threat that no one person ought to take on solo. Thanks for coming in and bailing me out."

"What were you even doing here?" Serena asked.

"I heard there was a Totem Pokémon here, so I came to prove myself to it and try to qualify to take on the Grand Trial of Akala Island," Ideku explained, "I just didn't expect Team Scorn to-"

"Rantis," the Totem Lurantis spoke up, getting Ideku and the others to turn to face it. Somewhat weak due to just getting off fighting a bunch of villains, the Totem Lurantis nonetheless approached the heroes and presented them with five Grassium Z crystals, one each for the heroes taking the Island Challenge. It was right when Ash, Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Ideku each got their Grassium Z crystals that they heard a familiar female voice call out.

"Well done, kids!" Kahuna Olivia called out, walking up for the heroes to see, "You all did- WAAA!" Olivia stopped short when she accidentally tripped and fell over. After picking herself up, Olivia said, "...Yes. Anyway, good job on clearing the trial of Lush Jungle, although it ended up being more than I expected."

"...Wait a minute," Ideku said, "You saw that we were dealing with a Team Scorn attack? Why didn't you step in to help out, or better yet go to get back-up?"

"It was a trial," Olivia pointed out, "Trial goers can't have help on it."

"Team Scorn attacked us," Ideku pointed out, "Dangerous criminals stepping in as an element that you had not a few seconds beforehand admitted was 'more than you expected'!"

"...Ideku has a point, ma'am," Kiawe spoke up, "You really should have seen that circumstances there would permit exceptions to Island Challenge rules."

...

Due to Team Scorn acting up again, Kukui when he heard about it called for everyone to come back. Although still upset that some of his students actually rushed to confront Team Scorn, Kukui relented and admitted he would have done the same upon hearing that Ideku was facing Team Scorn alone, and that his students didn't want to leave a friend alone in dealing with Team Scorn. Additionally, when informed of Olivia knowing about what was happening yet did nothing to step in and help, Kukui got madder at Olivia than his students had ever seen him get mad beforehand.

"Kiawe has a point, Olivia!" Kukui snapped, his tone raised and angry, his brows furrowed, "You really should have stepped in and helped my students and their friend, Island Challenge rules be damned! Innocent trainers, most of which are students that I'M responsible for, could have gotten hurt! Do you know how bad it'll make you look to Alola as a whole if word got out you knew innocent trainers were alone in fending off Team Scorn and yet you stood by and did squat about it?!"

"I..." Olivia said, clearly looking embarrassed, "...Didn't think about that." Kukui was exasperated, clearly at the end of his rope due to how often his students had to deal with Team Scorn on Akala Island. As such, he decided that, after his students who were taking the Island Challenge had cleared the Akala Island grand trial, he was ending the field trip and taking the class back to the trainer school on Melemele Island, citing how Akala Island was too dangerous to keep his students at on a field trip.

None of Class 1-A could blame Kukui. He may be a bit on the silly side from time to time, and he's utter garbage at teaching sex ed. But he was still a damn good professor who knew how to teach others about Pokémon. And he was fiercely protective of the safety and well-being of students under his charge. As such, the rest of the field trip to Akala Island ended up being spent near where battle against Olivia for the Akala Island grand trial were held. But how Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Ash will do is a thing that they will have to wait for to see.

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND NINE

Author's notes;

This chapter kicks off with Dawn and Kenny each catching a Rockruff, meeting May's little brother Max on the way and seeing that Max caught a shiny Rockruff. Then Dawn, Kenny, and their classmates meet Olivia, the Akala Island Kahuna, and go on a field trip to Akala Island. A lot of their activities remain the same, but there's a few adjustments made to compensate for the fact that Team Scorn keeps popping up, mostly to try and take Totem Pokémon. The heroes and their classmates, with some help from Ideku Badorigo, drive Team Scorn off every time.

Kukui, on the other hand, decides that, after Ash, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip each clear the grand trial of Akala Island, the field trip is returning to the trainer school on Melemele Island, as Kukui does not want to risk the safety and well-being of his students. As such, the next chapter will see the heroes who are taking the Island Challenge tackle the battle with Olivia. The sub-plot I'm setting up for Sophocles and his Togedemaru will also come to a head, so there's that to look forward to as well. Things will pick up in the next chapter, so until then take care.
