Episode 127: Sora's Goldenrod Opportunity

Last time, Sora, Kairi, Tracey, and the Pokémon have arrived to Goldenrod City at last. As they made their way to the local Pokémon Center before they could head for the Gym, they met a Trainer with a female Heracross who was beaten by the Goldenrod City Gym Leader. They bumped into Ethan who is also challenging the Gym Leader. They got a couple hours of training done, also, Sora's Marill has evolved into an Azumarill. Afterwards, Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Ethan, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi made it to the Goldenrod City Gym and met Whitney. Ethan's Pokémon managed to defeat Ambipom and Clefairy while Clefairy defeated his Beedrill before Whitney unleashed her Miltank. The Milk Cow Pokémon manages to take out his two remaining Pokémon before Ethan could make a comeback. Ethan took his frustration out on Sora who gave him a pep talk that reignited Ethan's fire. Now it was Sora's turn to battle against Whitney, but he wasn't sure about how he was going to defeat her Miltank since she's the biggest obstacle.

Nurse Joy approached Ethan, so he ran up to her.

"Tell me, Nurse Joy. Are my Pokémon doing okay?" Ethan asked.

"Your Pokémon are all okay. They just need to rest for the night," Nurse Joy said.

"Okay," Ethan said. Just then, Whitney approached Ethan.

"How are your Pokémon doing, Ethan?" Whitney asked.

"They're doing alright. They just have to rest for the night," Ethan said.

"I'm glad," Whitney said.

"Whitney, your Clefairy and Ambipom are doing well, too," Nurse Joy said.

"Great!" Whitney said.

Over to Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Pikachu, Angel, and Togepi, Sora was trying to come up with a strategy to use against Whitney for his battle against her. Unfortunately, he keeps hitting a snag with his plans.

"This is going to be much harder than I thought," Sora said.

"We saw Whitney uses Normal-type Pokémon, but that Clefairy is the only exception," Kairi said.

"I know. Clefairy's Metronome can make anything happen," Sora said.

"Sora, don't you have some Fighting-type Pokémon to use against her?" Tracey asked.

"I got a Primeape, a Machamp, a Poliwrath, a Hitmonchan, a Hitmonlee, and you already know about Heracross, but the problem is they're all boys," Sora said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Miltank's Attract is one of the things to worry about," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said. Kairi then got an idea around Attract.

"Wait, Skarmory, Azumarill, Aipom, Natu, and Chikorita are all girls!" Kairi said.

"What does that have to do with anything?" Tracey asked.

"When we came in, I saw that Trainer we bumped into earlier has a female Heracross, so I figure Attract won't affect them if her opponents are all girls," Kairi said. Sora knew where she was going with it.

"I get ya! I just use my girl Pokémon for the match," Sora said. "That's a great idea." Kairi blushed.

"That's only half the problem solved. What are you going to do about Miltank's Rollout? That moves gets stronger whenever it lands a hit," Tracey said.

"We'll have to practice dodging Rollout," Sora said. "We can do that by building up their speed." Later, Sora has Chikorita, Azumarill, Aipom, Natu, and Skarmory out to train. "Okay, girls, let's start by running and flying some laps! Go!" Chikorita, Natu, Azumarill, Aipom, and Skarmory started to run and fly some laps. Natu tried to flap her tiny wings to the best of her abilities. Aipom was very agile as she jumped upwards. "You're doing great!" Sora smiled.

"Look out!" A voice called out as three Pineco tumble over. Sora gasped, knowing what Pineco can do.

"Clear the way!" Sora exclaimed. Skarmory grabbed Natu as Aipom and Azumarill ran, but Chikorita wasn't so lucky as the Pineco bumped into the Leaf Pokémon and exploded upon contact. "Chikorita!"

He took Chikorita to Nurse Joy to have her healed. He told her about the Pineco incident.

"Is Chikorita going to be okay, Nurse Joy?" Sora asked.

"Your Chikorita's going to be fine. But she took huge amounts of damage from those explosions, so your Chikorita will have to reframe from battling for the next three days," Nurse Joy said.

"Chiko," Chikorita said sadly.

"I'm sorry, Chikorita. You're going have to be benced for the next three days. But I'll make sure to try hard for you," Sora said. Chikorita beamed and attempts to nuzzle him. "Take it easy, Chikorita. Just rest for right now."

"Chiko," Chikorita said. He gently pet's Chikorita.

Whitney approaches the trio and the Pokémon.

"Hi there. I don't think we were introduced earlier. My name's Whitney, but you already know that," Whitney said.

"Nice to meet you, Whitney. I'm Sora and I came from Pallet Town," Sora said.

"My name's Kairi," Kairi introduced.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Togepi, Toge," Togepi chirped.

"And I'm Tracey Sketchit. I'm a Pokémon Watcher," Tracey finished.

"Nice to meet you," Whitney said. "So, what happened to your Chikorita?"

"She had a little accident involving some Pineco. They literally exploded on her," Sora said.

"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that," Whitney said.

"Don't be. She's going to be okay," Kairi said.

"Anyway, what brings you hear, Whitney? I thought you weren't going to battle Sora until tomorrow," Tracey said.

"I'm not. I thought I'd bring you to the Goldenrod Galleria before then," Whitney offered.

"The Goldenrod Galleria?" Sora and Kairi asked.

"It's the pride and joy of Goldenrod City. It's the best way to get to know you," Whitney said.

They took the Gym Leader's word for it and went with her to the Goldenrod Galleria.

"So, any idea on where to go from here?" Sora asked.

"I know a secret shortcut to the Galleria. Just come with me," Whitney said. She led the trio down the streets of Goldenrod City and to a secret tunnel. "And here we are." She went through to see it was a barber shop for Pokémon.

"You're just in time," one of the barbers said in a cockney accent.

"We'll have your Pokémon looking fabulous in no time," the other barber said with the same accent, taking Pikachu and Angel.

"Perm for Pikachu," the first barber said.

"Hold on!" Kairi said, taking Angel back as Sora took Pikachu back.

"We were looking for a shortcut, not a haircut!" Sora said.

"Sorry about that. I guess I took a wrong turn," Whitney said.

"And she's a Gym Leader?" Sora asked in his thoughts.

Whitney led them through the tunnels, leading them even further than they were already were before. It caught up until they finally reached the Goldenrod Galleria.

As they got to the Galleria, Whitney dragged Kairi into some shopping and coaxed her into wearing some outfits. It didn't matter what clothes she wore to Sora, because to him, she looked great no matter what she wore.

"Thanks for inviting us, Whitney. I guess I did need a few things," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said. Pikachu started to carry a few boxes.

"And we had to carry it," Tracey said as he and Sora ended up carrying the boxes. Sora didn't mind as long it was for Kairi's sake.

"Think nothing of it, Kairi. Just glad to help you out," Whitney said with a smile.

"I just hope we don't end up being a situation that's too exciting to handle," Sora said.

Well, there was a girl around Sora's age looking dreamily at a magazine looking into Sora's picture when he accepted the trophy from President Goodshow. She sighed a bit lovestruck when she clutched the magazine in her arms.

"If only I could meet him," the girl said. "It will be the best day of my life." She looked at the ceiling for a moment before she saw Sora for real. Her heart started beating like a hummingbird as she saw him as a suave pretty boy and his eyes sparkled. "Omigosh! OMIGOSH! SORA KETCHUM!" She screamed at the top of her lungs grabbing the attention of the girls attending the galleria.

"Uh-oh," Sora said in a gulp.

"Pika," Pikachu.

"Sora must have a fan club right here in Goldenrod City," Kairi said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Ready for the escape plan, Pikachu?" Sora asked.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

Whitney was confused. The girls began to run right towards them as Sora and Pikachu started to run, trying to avoid the mob of girls.

"It's a good thing we trained for this, buddy," Sora said.

"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.

They ran across the Goldenrod Galleria trying to avoid the crowd. Sora placed a fake beard on his face to pass himself off as an older man. When the girls asked him where he went, he points to the left, so they ran to the left. He sighed with relief as the stampeding girls ran off, but a few more girls started to run for him, so Sora and Pikachu took off running again. He and Pikachu ends up in a corner and they're trapped as the girls slowly approach him. Sora remembered he can use the power of time to make the girls freeze in place. He didn't want to use it, but he had no choice at the time. He quickly summoned his Kingdom Key behind his back.

"STOP!" Sora shouted as the clock's numbers appeared in Roman numerals, making the girls freeze in place. "Hurry, Pikachu, the spell's not going to last for long."

"Pika," Pikachu agreed and went off to find Kairi, Tracey, and Whitney. The spell wore off a minute later.

"Where did he go?" One of the girls asked.

"He's gone," another girl said.

"But how? He was just here a second ago," another girl said.

"He's here for a Gym battle, so we should head there tomorrow to root for him," the first girl said.

"Yeah!" The girls all said.

Sora and Pikachu managed to make it back to them in one piece.

"Glad I found you," Sora sighed.

"You okay, Sora?" Whitney asked.

"I'm fine. Just took me by surprise that they went after me when they did," Sora said.

"Chu," Pikachu said.

"I think they wanted more than my autograph," Sora said.

"I didn't think you would be popular with the girls like that, Sora," Tracey said.

"Well, my mom always did say I knew how to turn heads," Sora said. "But mine turned to the one girl here." Kairi blushed, knowing who he was talking about.

"You're sweet, Sora," Kairi said. She kissed him on the cheek.

"Say, how about we check out that karaoke place? I know where that is," Whitney said.

"Oh boy," Sora said with worry.

Turns out, Whitney didn't end up getting lost. Kairi decided to take the stage and she wanted to sing for Sora. She picked a song to sing. The song she chose was "Eyes On Me". The music starts.

(Kairi)

Whenever sang my songs

On the stage, on my own

Whenever said my words

Wishing they would be heard

I saw you smiling at me

Was it real or just my fantasy

You'd always be there in the corner

Of this tiny in little bar

My last night here for you

Same old songs, just once more

My last night tear with you?

Maybe yes, maybe no

I kind of liked it to your way

How you shyly placed your eyes on me

Oh, did you ever know?

That I had mine on you

Darling, so there you are

With that look on your face

As if you're never hurt

As if you're never down

Shall I be the one for you

Who pinches you softly but sure

If frown is shown then

I will know that you are no dreamer

So let me come to you

Close as I wanted to be

Close enough for me

To feel your heart beating fast

And stay there as I whisper

How I loved your peaceful eyes on me

Did you ever know

That I had mine on you

Darling, so share with me

Your love if you have enough

your tears if you're holding back

Or pain if that's what it is

How can I let you know

I'm more than the dress and the voice

Just reach me out then

You will know that you're not dreaming

Darling, so there you are

With that look on your face

As if you're never hurt

As if you're never down

Shall I be the one for you

Who pinches you softly but sure

If frown is shown then

I will know that you are no dreamer

As soon as Kairi was finished singing, Sora was in tears as she sang.

"Wow, that was beautiful," Whitney said in tears as well. "You could be a professional singer, Kairi. Especially with a voice like yours."

"I don't think that's ever going to happen," Kairi said. She chuckled nervously.

That night, Sora thought a whole lot about his battle and he thought of whom to send out first while Kairi, Tracey, and the Pokémon were sleeping.

"Hm, maybe I should use Aipom first," Sora said in his thoughts.

"Sora," Ethan spoke up. Sora turned and saw Ethan.

"Hey, Ethan. How are your Pokémon doing?" Sora asked.

"They're doing okay, Sora. Still resting. You thought of what Pokémon you're going to use?" Ethan asked.

"I'm going to be using my girl Pokémon for the match," Sora said.

"Your girl Pokémon?" Ethan asked.

"Yeah. Miltank can't use Attract if they're girls, too," Sora said.

"Good thinking. Wish I thought of that," Ethan said.

"Don't worry about it too much, Ethan, otherwise you'll get wrinkles at your age," Sora said. Ethan laughed.

"You're right. I just came by to tell you not to mess up like I did," Ethan said.

"I'll try not to," Sora said, shaking Ethan's hand.

On the next morning, after eating a hearty breakfast, Sora, Kairi, Tracey, Ethan, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi arrived to the Goldenrod City Gym where a lot of the local girls were standing outside, waiting for his arrival.

"Look, there he his!" One of the girls said.

"Let's cheer hard for him," another girl said. All the girls did exactly that. Sora and Whitney took their positions as Kairi, Tracey, Ethan, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and the girls took their seats.

"The battle between the challenger Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town has challenged the Gym Leader Whitney to a Pokémon battle. Each Trainer will be using three Pokémon each. Only the challenger will be allowed make subsitutions. The battle will be over if either the challenger's or the Gym Leader's Pokémon is unable to continue battling," the referee announced.

"I'm ready for a real rumble! Are you?" Whitney asked her opponent.

"Ready when you are!" Sora said to her.

"Let the battle begin!" The referee said. Whitney pulls out a Pokéball and threw it.

"Go! Ambipom!" Whitney called out. Ambipom came right out to battle. Sora took out his Fast Ball and threw it.

"Go! Aipom!" Sora called out. Aipom came to battle her evolved form.

"Sora's sending Aipom out first, and against Ambipom," Ethan said. "But isn't Aipom at a disadvantage since she's going against her evolved form?"

"You would be right, Ethan. Sora will have to try hard against this opponent," Tracey said.

"Ambipom! Use Double Hit!" Whitney came at Aipom with a Double Hit, ready to go.

"Dodge and use Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered. Aipom dodges Ambipom's attack and came at Ambipom and lands a punch. Aipom's attack power goes up. "Use Tail Slap!"

"You use Tail Slap, too!" Whitney ordered. Ambipom lands a couple of hits with her two tails. "Good work! Now use Bounce!" Ambipom uses her two tails to jump up in the air.

"Get ready to dodge it!" Sora said.

"Pom," Aipom said. Ambipom came on down at her pre-evolved form.

"Now!" Sora called out. Aipom dodges at the last minute. "Use Swift!" Aipom swings her tail.

"Use Swift!" Whitney ordered. Ambipom swung her two tails and the stars collide against each other. "Use Double Hit!"

"Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered.

Aipom and Ambipom came at each other and lands a hit onto each other.

"Use Tail Slap!" Sora and Whitney ordered.

Aipom and Ambipom came at each other and lands a hit onto each other again. Due to Power-Up Punch's affect, Aipom did some more damage than Ambipom did.

"Ambipom, are you okay?" Whitney asked.

"Use Fury Swipes!" Sora ordered. Aipom came at Ambipom and swiped her hands at Ambipom's face. "Use Power-Up Punch!" Aipom lands a punch onto Ambipom, dealing a super-effective hit. Ambipom was down for the count.

"Ambipom is unable to battle! Aipom wins!" The referee announced. The fangirls all cheered hard.

"Way to go, Sora!" Ethan said.

"He managed beat Ambipom despite an evolution disadvantage," Tracey said.

"But it's not over yet," Kairi said. Whitney called back Ambipom and she looked at her Pokéball and smiled.

"You did a great job, Ambipom. You deserve a good long rest," Whitney said. She took out her next Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Clefairy!" Her Pokéball opened and Clefairy entered the fray.

"I knew she was sending Clefairy out next," Sora said. He called Aipom back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Skarmory!" His Pokéball opened and Skarmory came on out to battle.

"A Steel-type Pokémon to use against a Fairy-type Pokémon like Clefairy is a clever move," Tracey said.

"Yeah, but Clefairy has Metronome, so anything can happen," Ethan said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Clefairy! Use Disarming Voice!" Whitney ordered. Clefairy unleashed Disarming Voice.

"Skarmory! Use Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Skarmory came at the Fairy Pokémon with her talons giving off a metallic glow.

"Dodge it, Clefairy!" Whitney called out. Clefairy dodges Skarmory's Metal Claw.

"Use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Skarmory came at Clefairy with Steel Wing.

"Dodge it!" Whitney called out. Clefairy dodges again. "Use Metronome!" Clefairy waves her arms.

"I knew she was going to use Metronome. Be ready for anything, Skarmory," Sora said. Clefairy kept doing it until her hands gave off a blue glow and it turned into a Dragon Rage. It lands a hit onto Skarmory.

"That was Dragon Rage," Kairi said.

"Juding by how that came out, it looked like it did a decent amount of damage," Tracey said.

"You okay, Skarmory?" Sora asked.

"Skarmory," Skarmory replied. "Okay, Skarmory! Use Aerial Ace!" Skarmory darts at Clefairy, landing a hit. "Aerial Ace again and again!" Skarmory complies with her Trainer with repeated Aerial Ace attacks. "One more Aerial Ace!" Skarmory lands the finishing blow onto Clefairy, resulting in. knockout.

"Clefairy is unable to battle! Skarmory wins!" The referee announced. All of the fangirls cheered again.

"Two down, one to go," Kairi said.

"And we know who's going to be next," Tracey said.

"Eevee," Angel said.

"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Whitney ran to Clefairy and helped her up.

"Are you okay, Clefairy?" Whitney asked.

"Fairy," Clefairy responded with a cry.

"Now, don't cry. You did your best," Whitney said. "Take a rest for right now." She called Clefairy back inside. "I gotta say, Sora, you're a tough Pokémon Trainer. But let's see if you can stand up to my strongest one."

"Here it comes," Sora said. She took her third Pokéball out and threw it.

"It's your turn now! Miltank!" Whitney called out. Her Pokéball opened and Miltank was ready to go.

"There she is. That's the one I was ready for. I can bet my necklace she's going to use Attract on me," Sora said.

"Miltank! Use Attract!" Whitney ordered.

"Called it," Sora said. Miltank winked her eye, creating a pink heart. The heart floats towards the Armor Bird Pokémon and it does nothing to her.

"Huh? Attract didn't work?" Whitney asked in surprise.

"The Gym Leader's Attract backfired," one of the girls said.

"That could only happen if that Skarmory's a female," another said.

"Hey, what's going on?" Whitney asked.

"Attract didn't work, because my Skarmory's a girl," Sora said.

"Yes! It's working to Sora's advantage!" Kairi said.

"Yeah, but Whitney still has another ace up her sleeve," Tracey said.

"Girl or no girl, because I still have this! Use Rollout!" Whitney ordered. Miltank rolled into a ball and heads right towards Skarmory.

"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Miltank came too fast for Skarmory to dodge. Miltank came at Skarmory again and it was much stronger than the last time. Knowing Rollout was going to do more damage than the last one, Sora quickly calls Skarmory back inside and he took out his Fast Ball.

"Okay, Aipom! Back to action!" His Fast Ball opened and Aipom came back out to battle.

"Oh, so you've sent Aipom back out, huh? My Miltank will flatten your Aipom like a pancake!" Whitney said as Miltank came at the Long Tail Pokémon with Rollout.

"Dodge and use Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered. Aipom manages to dodge and land a hit with Power-Up Punch, making Miltank uncurl her body. This builds up Aipom's attack power. "Power-Up Punch again!" Aipom lands another Power-Up Punch, hitting Miltank hard, building her attack power again.

"Use Milk Drink!" Whitney ordered. Miltank bent over and drinks the milk from her udder. Sora was stunned to see it. Miltank replenished her strength.

"What just happened?" Sora asked.

"Miltank uses Milk Drink to restore her own stamina," Whitney said.

"I DIDN'T EVEN CONSIDER THAT THIRD THING!" Sora exclaimed.

"She didn't use that on me," Ethan said.

"Because she didn't need to. You couldn't land any damage on Miltank at all," Tracey said.

"Aipom! Use Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered.

"Rollout!" Whitney ordered. Miltank rolled into a ball and plowed into the Long Tail Pokémon. Miltank lands three more hits with Rollout, each being stronger than the last. Aipom was down for the count.

"Aipom is unable to battle! Miltank wins!" The referee announced. Sora called Aipom back inside.

"Get some, Aipom. You earned it," Sora said. He looked at Miltank, still rolling. "I was ready for Rollout and Attract, but that Milk Drink took me by surprise. Skarmory has taken some damage already, but there's still Natu. I got no choice but to send her out." He took out his Pokéball and threw it. "Natu! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Natu came out to battle. Miltank rolls right at Natu. "Use Teleport to dodge!" Natu quickly teleports out of the way and appeared to the other side.

"There it is! Don't let it get away!" Whitney called out. Miltank rolls at Natu.

"Dodge!" Sora called out. Natu uses Teleport to dodge Miltank's attack. "Use Psychic!" Natu uses Psychic to lift Miltank up in the air, but she was heavy for Natu. The Tiny Bird Pokémon dropped Miltank on the ground, but she got back up.

"Use Rollout!" Whitney ordered. Miltank rolls at Natu with a Rollout and lands a heavy-blowing hit. Natu was down from taking just one hit.

"Natu is unable to battle! Miltank wins!" The referee announced. Sora called Natu back and he sighed.

"Sorry, Natu. You'll do better next time," Sora said. "Skarmory's my last shot, so I have to make it count." He threw his Pokéball. "Skarmory! Back to action!" His Pokéball opened and Skarmory re-entered the battle.

"Skarmory already took some damage from Miltank's Rollout, so he's going have to try hard to win the match," Ethan said.

"Okay, Miltank! You know what to do!" Whitney said. Miltank rolls right at Skarmory.

"Dodge it by flying up!" Sora called out. Skarmory flew up in the air as Miltank misses her completely.

"You'll never win by going above the battlefield!" Whitney said.

"Let's give this a try! Use Aerial Ace!" Sora ordered. Skarmory lands a hit with Aerial Ace and flew back up.

"That is not going to stop my Miltank! Rollout, but use the walls to bounce!" Whitney ordered. Miltank rolls into a ball and rolled into a wall and bounced off of it to make her airborne.

"Dodge!" Sora called out. Skarmory manages to dodge Miltank's assault. But the Milk Cow Pokémon wasn't done yet. Miltank bounced off the wall again and heads right towards the Armor Bird Pokémon.

"Use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Skarmory flew at Miltank and both Pokémon lands a hit onto each other. They kept on doing so again and again. Skarmory has taken some hits from Miltank's Rollout attacks.

"Use Milk Drink!" Whitney ordered. Miltank bends over and drinks her own milk again and heals herself.

"Skarmory's taken too much damage. It's going to be over sooner than I thought," Tracey said.

"This match is way harder than I thought it was gonna be. If only I could deal some more damage quickly," Sora said. He then remembered Skarmory's Aerial Ace assault with Clefairy. "Right! Why didn't I think of that? Aerial Ace again and again! Skarmory! Use Aerial Ace!" Skarmory darts at Miltank with Aerial Ace. "Again!" Skarmory uses Aerial Ace on the Milk Cow Pokémon again and again.

"What's he doing?" Ethan asked.

"I think I know. He's making it harder for Miltank to use Milk Drink just so she wouldn't recover so easily," Kairi said.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.

"Eevee!" Angel said.

"Toge, Toge," Togepi chirped.

"But can Sora keep it up for long?" Tracey asked.

Miltank was taking damage from Skarmory's Aerial Ace assault.

"Miltank! Use Milk Drink!" Whitney ordered. Miltank tried to use Milk Drink, but she was having a hard time due to Skarmory's constant assault. Miltank fell backwards from the last Aerial Ace.

"Use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered.

"Use Rollout!" Whitney ordered.

Skarmory flew at Miltank, landing one more Steel Wing before Miltank could land a hit. Miltank fell back down, knocked out from Skarmory's last attack.

"Miltank is unable to battle! Skarmory wins! The winner is Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. Whitney called Miltank back and she broke up with tears.

"Good work, Skarmory," Sora said.

"No fair! I lost! Waah!" Whitney cried.

"Hey, hey, hey! Take it easy, Whitney! You did your best! Nothing to get upset over!" Sora said, trying to calm her down.

"You didn't do anything, Sora. She gets like this whenever she loses a battle. She'll be back to her bubbly self in a few seconds," the referee said. Whitney stopped crying.

"Sorry you had to see that, Sora. People would think of me as a crybaby. But it was a fun battle. So, as proof of your victory here in the Goldenrod City Gym, I present you this Plain Badge," Whitney said, presenting Sora a badge that resembles a plain yellow diamond. Sora accepts it.

"Thanks. I gotta admit, you almost had me," Sora said.

"Yeah, I would have," Whitney agreed.

After the match, Sora was mobbed by the fangirls, some of them wanted an autograph from him. Sora did sign a few autographs for them. Sora checked Aipom, Skarmory, and Natu in the Pokémon Center to recover from the battle with Whitney as she checked her three Pokémon in as well.

"Three down, five to go," Sora said.

"I thought I should tell you that your next challenge lays in Ecruteak City. The Gym Leader there is no pushover," Whitney said.

"Thanks, Whitney," Sora said.

Now that Sora has earned his third Gym Badge in the Johto region, five more challenges awaits him and the fourth stop is in Ecruteak City. He did wonder what kind of Gym Leader he is. He'll have to wait and see as the journey continues.
