Chapter Two-hundred and eleven: Kanto region shuffle
Over at the recently built, hidden away Team Scorn base in the Alola region, Admin Mage, the head of Alola's native Sector of Team Scorn the Scarf Sector, was meeting with two Team Scorn Captains. Despite how the Scarf Sector is the Team Scorn Sector native to Alola, neither Captain that Mage was meeting with were part of the Scarf Sector. The first was Captain Zed, currently the Fourth Captain of the Katana Sector which is based in Johto. The other Captain was James, formerly of the now defunct Team Rocket, and was currently the Third Captain of the Kunai Sector which is based in Hoenn.
Both Captains were helping out with getting the Scarf Sector up and running as it's a relatively new Sector. But today, Admin Mage had a special mission for the both of them, one that would see them out of Alola, at least temporarily. "You... want us to lead a mission to the Kanto region, sir?" James asked as he and Zed stood before the head of the Scarf Sector.
"There's reports of a horde of wild Pokémon within Viridian Forest," Mage said, "And Boss's Assistant Ayane, in addition to saying catching as much of that horde as possible will be a benefit to Team Scorn as it'll give members more Pokémon, wants one of the members of that horde for herself. That being said, we need to, at the very least, catch one member of that horde." Arching a wry eyebrow at James, Mage said, "And that's part of why I wanna put you on this mission, Captain James, as I got it you, Captain's Assistant Jessie, and your talking Meowth have... a lot of experience... when it comes to trying to get a hold of members of the species that makes up the horde that has been sighted in Viridian Forest."
James, as he was putting the pieces together in his head, suddenly stopped short as he had an answer. "The horde of wild Pokémon spotted in Viridian Forest consists of Pikachus?"
"Exactly, it's a horde of wild Pikachus that the mission to Kanto will be focused on," Mage replied, "You and Zed will lead the mission to capture as many of those wild Pikachus as possible. As soon as you've caught as many as you're able to, come back here to Alola and report to me."
"Don't worry, sir," Zed said, "Under my leadership, the mission will go off without a-"
"I'm assigning Captain James as the head for this mission," Mage interrupted, "So you'll defer to him."
Zed looked stunned, surprised even. "But... but sir... I've been an Officer of Team Scorn since near it's founding! Captain James here is a greehorn, he has far less experience in a position of authority than I do!"
"You wanna know what else Captain James has far less experience in doing than you do, Captain Zed?" Mage countered, "He's got far less experience in screwing up as an Officer than you do. He also has show greater respect for the chain of command, unlike you who is STILL in trouble for the stunt that was pulled in Unova by going after Trip Barley's biological mother." Leaning back in his seat, Mage said, "If James tells you to do something for the mission, you do it. Do I make myself clear?"
Zed, being reminded of how he was on thin ice, bowed his head. "Of course, sir." The two men were then dismissed to go gather what subordinates they figured they'd be needing, and James couldn't help but imagine the looks on the faces of Jessie and Meowth when he tells them what they're going to be going after over in the Kanto region. James felt that nothing could go wrong on this mission.
Meanwhile, the heroes' class at trainer school in the Alola region have just reached the Kanto region, getting off of the plane. "FiGhT mEh, KaNtO!" Kenny cheered, "YoUr BaDgEs ArE mInE!"
"Kenny, you already earned eight badges in Kanto," Dawn pointed out dryly.
"The last time I was in Kanto," Trip said, "Some girls got me barred from challenging a gym just because I said I wasn't interested in perfume. So I reported them to Kanto League Officials for their unlawful obstruction. I'm not sure what happened after that as I earned the badge from that gym and made my way to the next city that had a gym to challenge."
Dawn looked over and saw that the rest of the class was all crowded around Lillie, who looked worried as she held Snowy who looked unwell. Dawn led Trip and Kenny over to see what was up. "Whoa, Snowy looks sick," Kenny said.
"I don't know what to do here!" Lillie cried, "We need to get Snowy to a Pokémon Center!"
Turning away from the crowd, Kenny called out throughout the airport terminal, "Is there a Nurse Joy here?! We got a sick Pokémon!"
"I'm a Pokémon Doctor-in-training," a certain familiar male voice called out, "Perhaps I can be of some help. Also, it's great to see you again, Kenny."
To the surprise of the class, Brock came walking up to their group. Brock, Ash's old traveling companion and an old associate of Dawn's and Kenny's, had come here to the airport for one reason or another. "Brock!" Ash, Dawn, and Kenny all cried out in unison in surprised tones.
Brock nodded to his old friends in acknowledgement before checking up on Snowy. "...It's just simple motion sickness, probably from the flight here," Brock said after checking Lillie's named Alolan Vilpix, "Your Vulpix will be fine after some rest."
"Yeah, you can totally count on Doc Brock's assessment," Kenny said to Lillie, then added while turning to look at Brock, "Speaking of, what brings you here?"
"Professor Oak, who knows you guys were coming here, asked me to greet you," Brock explained, "Misty was supposed to be here with me, but she got held up for some odd reason. Apparently you guys are celebrating your school's twentieth anniversary or something?"
"Exactly right, Brock," Alolan Oak said as he came walking up to Brock's group with Professor Kukui, also drawing the attention of the Alola classmates who went back to focusing on Lillie and her Vulpix thus they didn't see or hear what all Brock and the others were talking about. "I believe my cousin would like to see us as soon as we can get over to his lab," Alolan Oak went on, "So I say that we make our way over."
"Oh yeah, the lab where Professor Oak does his research and studying of Pokémon," Brock said, "It's also where Ash's other Pokémon are kept."
"As well as all of Dawn's, Trip's, and my other Pokémon," Kenny spoke up.
"...Que?" Brock said, looking surprised and a tad worried for reasons that escaped him.
Over at Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town, Professor Oak and Alolan Oak greeted one another. "So this lab is where you do all of your research into Pokémon, sir?" Lana asked as she and the rest of the class looked at the two Oaks as well as Kukui and Brock.
"Oh my yes," Professor Oak replied, "I've been able to do so much more research, discover so much more, as of late thanks to what all Ash, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip have done in their travels, given that all of their other Pokémon are kept here. Although I will admit, some of their captures in more recent events have surprised me to the point I feared my heart may have burst."
"Oh, you mean all of the legendary and mythical Pokémon we've caught," Kenny said, "Yeah, those would surprise a lot of folks."
"Yeah, I got it that you guys have captured a number of rare Pokémon recently," Brock said, "At least from what I got from Professor Oak. But I never would have expected as many as what I was told! And Ash had even caught the three legendary birds! That's amazing!"
"Yeah, Ash is nothing short of amazing," Serena remarked.
Clapping his hands together, Brock said, "Oh! Seeing you reminds me of how I saw that Mina Carrow movie on the Kenny Harris Studios website!"
"Oh, you've found the website that Kenny had set up to show off the movies we've made?" Trip asked.
Nodding once, Brock said, "Yeah, and my sisters and I like the Mina Carrow movie, although my brothers like that Poké Sphere P movie." Arching a wry eyebrow, Brock asked, "How did you guys get Paul to agree to star in a movie?"
"He came to Alola during his travels for his redemption arc," Kenny explained, "He and a few others outside our class saw the Mina Carrow movie and expressed a wish to have been a part of things, which ended up happening as we made Poké Sphere P because we needed an action flick as per the rules of a movie contest at school. Don't ask, it's a long story."
Brock was about to speak up, but he was cut off by a call of, "TEN HUT!" Everyone in the large lab room instantly stood at attention, as if they were at a military base, then to their surprise Lt. Surge came walking into the room and up to the group. "I'm glad to see you kids can come to attention when needed!" Lt. Surge said, "That's good, it'll help with the task I need your help with!"
"Lt. Surge?" Ash said, "What are you doing here?"
...
After everything was settled, everyone relaxed as Lt. Surge explained himself, and as he began his expression took on a bit of an embarrassed hint. "Yeah, one of the trainers working at my gym saw on the Kenny Harris Studios website live social feed that Kenny and all of his classmates were coming here to Kanto on a field trip from their school in Alola," Lt. Surge began, "I know Kenny to be a good trainer, along with Dawn and their friend Ash, and since all of them were gonna be here I figured that they could help me with a little issue over in Viridian Forest."
"What's going on in Viridian Forest?" Dawn asked.
"A horde of wild Pikachu has been sighted in Viridian Forest," Lt. Surge explained, "And word has it that a detachment of Team Scorn not only arrived in Kanto but is making its way to Viridian Forest. My guess is that they're going after the Pikachus for some vile, evil deal."
"Team Scorn is in Kanto?!" Brock exclaimed, looking alarmed. Given the reputation that Team Scorn has, Brock's alarm could be justified.
Ash looked rather unamused with the whole prospect. "And they're going after a bunch of wild Pikachus. I wouldn't be surprised if the Team Rocket trio who joined Team Scorn were involved here."
Brock sucked in a cringing breath. "Yeah, hearing that those guys are now in Team Scorn doesn't sit well with me."
Gesturing to the heroes, Lt. Surge said, "That's why I'm here to ask you kids for help. Young though you are, I know full well you have the strength and skill to drive Team Scorn away. Will you help me?"
"Did you hear of any other possible Team Scorn activity here in Kanto?" Dawn asked, "Team Scorn has been known to carry out multiple acts at the same time, with one act being a diversion to sap enemy attention away from the real act."
"None that I heard," Lt. Surge replied, "But I got men keeping eyes and ear out for anything and everything." With all the details laid out, the field trip made its way to Viridian Forest to stop Team Scorn and save the Pikachus.
Later over in Viridian Forest, the heroes and their classmates, along with Brock and Kukui (the two Oaks remained behind at the lab), followed along behind Lt. Surge. "It's just Team Scorn we need to keep from getting the Pikachus here," Lt. Surge said, "If any of you kids feel like catching a Pikachu for yourself and you're able to do so, then more power to you."
Holding a hand to her chin, Dawn said, "Actually... now that you mention it, I think that I may want to catch a Pikachu."
"My girlfriend told me over our video chats that she has a friend who owns a Pikachu," Sophocles said, "Maybe I can surprise her by catching a Pikachu of my own."
"Will you guys evolve them, though?" Kenny asked, "Or will you follow the same path as me and Ash and keep them as Pikachus?"
"I actually have a held item for Pokémon called a Light Ball," Dawn said, "It works specifically for Pikachu only. Holding a Light Ball will double a Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack stats. My plan is to catch a Pikachu and raise it as is but have it hold the Light Ball."
"I'm thinking of evolving one that I catch into Raichu," Sophocles said, "But not until after we get back to Alola. If it evolves in Alola, it'll evolve into Alolan Raichu."
"Ah yes, one of my gym trainers mentioned that Raichu has a regional variant in Alola," Lt. Surge said, "Apparently it's dual electric psychic rather than pure elec-" Suddenly stopping short, Lt. Surge harshly whispered to the others, "I hear voices ahead. Be on your guard, soldiers."
...
Meanwhile in Viridian Forest, James and Zed were supervising the Team Scorn mission to capture the wild Pikachus in the horde that was sighted. A number of Pikachus were caught already, although Jessie to her disappointment only caught the smallest Pikachu found so far. "I think that I caught a runt of a litter," Jessie said as she put the cage holding the smaller than normal Pikachu with the other cages holding Pikachus.
"Actually, Captain's Assistant Jessie," began Kenji, Zed's own Captain's Assistant, "I think that Boss's Assistant Ayana may be drawn to that runt Pikachu, on the basis its smaller than normal size makes it more adorable. From what I gather, girls tend to like small, cute things."
"Why that's total nonsense, Kenji," Zed said, "We ought to present to the Boss's Assistant the biggest, burliest, beefiest Pikachu that we find! A strong Pikachu befitting a strong woman!"
Arching a wry eyebrow at Zed, James said, "Or we let the Boss's Assistant take first pick of the Pikachus we bring back to Alola. After all, she wants a Pikachu from the number that we capture here, so it's best to let her-"
"Hey James, bad news," Meowth spoke up, "One of our scouts just spotted a group of people enter Viridian Forest, and they identified them as the Sinnoh girl twerp and some of her friends in Alola!"
"Ooh, we can get the boy twerp's Pikachu as a bonus!" Jessie said.
Turning to look at Jessie, James said, "Admin Mage was clear we were to focus only on WILD Pikachus, Jessie." Gently shaking his head, James went on, "Still, the fact that we have to deal with the twerps here is bad. They can stop us from getting away with even one Pikachu!"
"So allow me to lead the men in battle!" Zed said, "We have sufficient numbers on our side, we can wear down any opposition!"
"The Sinnoh girl twerp caught Palkia," Meowth pointed out, "Her crazy friend caught Giratina, and the Unova boy caught Dialga. We are NOT going to be able to stand up to them."
"So what do we do?" Jessie asked.
"All of us Team Scorn members will charge against them in glorious battle," Zed said, "With me hanging back to command the troops better, our overwhelming strategy of overwhelming might will-"
"-Be foiled the moment a legendary dragon is sent out in battle against us," James interrupted. Doing a quick count of the captured wild Pikachus so far, James said, "We only got twenty, it'll have to do." To the others, James said, "We'll have to distract the twerps to give cover for taking away what Pikachus we were able to secure so far. As few men that can manage it as possible will take the captured Pikachus away, meanwhile a portion led by me will stay here and continue trying to get more Pikachus while keeping the twerps occupied."
"A portion led by you?" Zed said, "Very well, I'll lead the men taking away what Pikachus we've capture to safety and-"
"No Zed, you're going to lead a diversionary mission," James said. Sighing in a resigned tone, James said, "I have no doubt that the men I lead against the twerps will be wiped. When that happens, I'll let them know about what you're doing, which ought to prompt the twerps, who suffer from Chronic Hero Syndrome, to go after you, thus buying more time for the team taking the captured Pikachus away to get away. We need to get those Pikachus taken away successfully for our real efforts here to be a success."
Zed looked surprised that he wasn't going to get to weasel out of having to face the heroes. "...Very well, Captain James," Zed said, "What is it that you would have me do to buy time for the team taking the Pikachus we've caught away from here?"
Shrugging, James said, "Oh, I don't know, go and steal as many Pokémon as possible from the Cerulean City gym?"
"Very well, to Cerulean city it is!" Zed said. He ended up getting half of the total number of regular Grunts to come with him, tearing out of Viridian Forest in jeeps as they made a beeline for Cerulean City. Another few men had to be allocated to the jeeps taking away what Pikachus were successfully captured, meaning James had a bit under half the total number of men sent to Kanto to help him with a fight he knew full well he wouldn't win, even if ALL of the men sent to Kanto were there to help him out with the battle.
...
Lt. Surge lead the heroes, their classmates, Brock, and Kukui towards the area he was hearing voices at. "Keep low, wait for my signal," Lt. Surge said.
As the group inched along quietly, Kukui said, "As a teacher, I'm strongly against the use of my students as soldiers in a battle against Team Scorn."
"There's not exactly a lot of choice here," Lt. Surge replied, "Especially considering some of the kids I know full well are more than strong enough to fi- hold!" Everyone stopped short suddenly when Lt. Surge called for it. "...I see the bastards straight ahead," Lt. Surge said in a grim tone, "But there's not as many as the reports I got told me. I'm also seeing tire tracks going out in different directions."
"...They anticipated someone would confront them here," Dawn said, "So they sent men out to carry out a diversionary mission." To Lt. Surge, Dawn asked, "How many men do you count, Lt. Surge?"
"...Enough so that their group outnumbers our group here two to one," Lt. Surge said, "Assuming we count literally every human in our group. Also, I see two members of Team Scorn who I can identify as Jessie and James of the now defunct organization Team Rocket. That Meowth of theirs is there too."
"So the Team Rocket Trio IS involved in the business of taking the wild Pikachus," Kenny said.
"How do we capture them?" Kiawe asked.
"We surround them," Lt. Surge replied.
Looking surprised, Sophocles said, "Surround them? But how, especially considering that we lack the numbers for doing that?"
Turning to look at Sophocles, Trip said, "That's part of why Dawn, Ash, Kenny, and I made some... party adjustments... before we left on the trip to Viridian Forest."
...
Meanwhile over where James was leading what Team Scorn men remained with him, they had been able to capture at least eight more wild Pikachus, including a female that was shiny. "Alright, men!" James called out, "Let's keep at it! We can still get a score more at the current rate before we're forced to go back due to time running out, so let's-"
*THOOM*
James was cut off when a large blasting attack kicked up from a far point before going on to dig a gouge in the ground, eventually surrounding James and the other members of Team Scorn in a large area surrounded by a moat. When the dust was able to settle, Meowth was able to identify the attack that made the gouged out moat as Dark Pulse. The members of Team Scorn had no idea what Pokémon could have made such an attack, but it was Meowth who first spotted a probable answer, which was flying overhead and making the hearts of Team Scorn sink.
"Fangfang!" Dawn called out to her named Yveltal while riding on her Latios Lincoln, "Help the others to keep Team Scorn from getting away!" Dawn's Yveltal cried out as it flew in, with Dawn's named Palkia Tsukune flying in after it. As the legendary Pokémon swooped in to confront Team Scorn, MORE legendary Pokémon came flying in; Dawn's Darkrai Tobias, Kenny on his Gitatina Black with Kenny's Rayquaza Shenron flying in next to them, Trip on his Dialga Deelia. On the ground were Dawn's Groudon Kurumu, Trip's Xerneas Tetsu and Kyogre Cameron, and Kenny's Zygarde Porunga. There was also Ash flying in on his Charizard while leading Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres who were all flying in formation, and Ash even had Meloetta with him.
The tl;dr here was that Team Scorn was surround on all sides by legendary Pokémon. Yeah, there was no getting out of this.
A short while later, the heroes had successfully rounded up all of the Team Scorn members at Viridian Forest, bound them with rope, called the police, and freed the wild Pikachu from their cages that they were in. The female shiny Pikachu even got attached to Sophocles who was the one who freed her, and a normally colored male Pikachu who seemed to have a gentlemanly disposition became attached to Dawn who freed him. "The authorities will be here any second to arrest your sorry asses, Team Scorn," Lt. Surge swore to the captured Team Scorn members as they sat cross-legged on the ground.
Looking up at Lt. Surge, Jessie said, "Like this will be the end of us. We'll be freed sooner or later, mark my words!"
"Do you really think your masters in Team Scorn will worry about lesser members who go and get themselves captured?" Lt. Surge asked.
"When the Admins hear this happened because I had the men here help me distract you all so that our true goals could be carried out, I'm sure they'll be willing to overlook this blunder!" James swore.
Ash's attention immediately focused in on James. "...You guys were distracting us."
James smirked in amusement when he saw he had Ash's attention. "Oh Twerp, you're pretty naive for someone packing as much power as you've got. You didn't think you'd be able to completely foil Team Scorn's efforts, did you?"
"Where's the real mission you guys are carrying out going down?" Brock demanded.
James saw it that the heroes didn't know they had partly foiled the real mission. He had to buy time so that the wild Pikachus that were successfully taken away could get further from hero reach. Luckily for him, he had an answer set up already. Looking right at Brock, James said, "Let's just say that you and the other twerp here-" James paused to jerk his head towards Ash "-Ought to go check up on things over in Cerulean City. Your friend who's obsessed with water Pokémon lives over there, doesn't she?"
Ash and Brock both looked as if their hearts were sinking. "Misty is in trouble!" Ash practically screamed.
"Wait a minute, Misty?" Sophocles said, "We need to get going!"
Looking at some of the tire tracks on the ground and following them, Lt. Surge said, "There are some tracks heading off in the direction of Cerulean City, now that you mention it."
Dawn, after leaving the gentlemanly Pikachu with Lt. Surge, said, "Kenny, Trip and I will fly over and assess the situation!" The reborn trainers called out some of their legendary Pokémon (they were all called back after Team Scorn was defeated and rounded up), hopped on, and took off into the air before making a zooming beeline right for Cerulean City, hoping like hell that they wouldn't be too late to prevent any tragedy.
With Dawn flying on Fangfang, Kenny flying on Shenron, and Trip flying on Deelia, the reborn trainers soon got within sight of Cerulean City. The moment they saw a that large plume of black smoke was rising up into the air, they instantly became alarmed. That feeling of alarm grew as they got closer and could hear the frightened, panicked shouting of Cerulean City citizens. When the reborn trainers got close enough, they saw where the smoke was coming from, but seeing the burning building in question brought their worse fears about the situation and made those fears into reality.
The Cerulean City gym was burning.
The reborn trainers immediately landed and recalled their legendary Pokémon before running up to the scene as close as they could get. "What's going on here?" Dawn asked, immediately getting the attention of an Officer Jenny.
"You're Dawn Berlitz, the Sinnoh Champion!" Officer Jenny said, "Yeah, you can be of great help here!" Gesturing to the burning Cerulean City gym, Officer Jenny said, "Members of Team Scorn stormed the Cerulean City gym here, took the Sensational Sisters hostage, and reportedly got away with taking every Pokémon that was kept at the Cerulean City gym!"
"Team Scorn stole all of the Pokémon at the Cerulean City gym?!" Kenny exclaimed.
"Where are those Sensational Sisters now?" Trip asked, "Are that alright?"
Officer Jenny nodded once in the affirmative. "Yes, the three Sensational Sisters are all alright, they were able to get out of the gym as it was burning. I just got off of talking with Daisy, the oldest of the sisters, and that's how I learned that every last Pokémon was stolen from the gym by Team Scorn."
"Where is Daisy now?" Dawn asked.
Pointing the way, Officer Jenny said, "That way, being berated by Violet and Lily." Confused, the reborn trainers ran on ahead to see the Sensational Sisters. When they found the girls, Daisy was indeed being chewed out by Violet and Lily.
Pointing an accusing finger at Daisy, Lily snapped, "Your make-up kit?! You ran back into the gym as it was burning, risking your life, over your make-up kit?!"
"I thought it was in my room!" Daisy complained, "But then I remembered that I lent it to Misty because-"
"Hey girls!" Dawn called out, cutting Daisy off and making her, Violet, and Lily turn to face Dawn, Kenny, and Trip.
"...Oh, you're that girl who used a Mothim to win a badge from our gym," Lily said, "And that Kenny boy there used a Scizor and an Ariados."
Gesturing to the Sensational sisters, Trip said, "For a trio of girls whose gym is burning and had all of your Pokémon stolen, you don't seem all that upset, at least about what had happened."
Pointing an accusing finger at Daisy, Violet snarled, "Because THIS IDIOT, after all of us managed to get out of the gym as it was burning, suddenly decided to have the bright idea to run back inside to rescue her make-up kit!"
"It's a rare and expensive make-up kit!" Daisy pointed out, but immediately relented and looked guilty and ashamed. "...But given what happened, I'd swear off make-up forever if it could undo the damage my reckless vanity had caused..."
"...What the hell happened here?" Dawn asked.
The Sensational Sisters flinched a bit at the mildly harsh language Dawn had used, but they relented again. "...After Daisy ran back in to rescue her make-up kit, saying that it ought to be in her room still," Violet said, "Our younger sister Misty, the Mothim girl and the boy with twin shiny bug Pokémon remembers her, ran into the gym after Daisy, given that Daisy had forgotten she had lent her make-up kit to Misty."
"Why did Misty borrow Daisy's make-up kit?" Kenny asked.
"She said her boyfriend was coming to Kanto, and that it'd be their first face-to-face meeting," Lily replied, "She wanted to look nice for her boyfriend, and Daisy offered to let her borrow her make-up kit so she could doll herself up."
Gesturing to the reborn trainers, Daisy said, "I found Misty with my make-up kit outside of her room, but a burning beam had landed on top of Misty and knocked her out. The make-up kit fell away and had caught fire, but I ignored that and did what I could to pull Misty out of there. I was able to get the burning beam off of her and carry her back out of the gym, but Misty... she..." Swallowing a lump in her throat, Daisy said, "...Misty suffered some really bad damage."
The reborn trainers were shocked to hear that Misty was seriously hurt in a building fire. "Is she alive, at least?" Dawn asked.
"Last we heard from the doctors, Misty is still alive," Violet said, "But she's in the ICU at the hospital located over in Saffron City, she was flown straight over there in a helicopter. The hospital in Saffron is much better able to handle the kind of damage that Misty had suffered."
The reborn trainers looked dejected. Turning to see that the Cerulean City gym was still burning, Dawn and Trip helped out by calling out Tsukune and Cameron, who put out the rest of the fire with their water attacks. Although the spread of damage had been stopped, there was still the damage that had occurred to deal with. The gym in Cerulean City was in ruins from a fire, literally every Pokémon at the gym and belonging to all of the sisters was stolen, and Misty was severely hurt and now undergoing treatment in the ICU at a hospital in Saffron City.
They had no idea how they were going to break this to the others.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND ELEVEN
Author's notes;
This chapter sees Admin Mage send James and Zed to lead a mission in Kanto to collect on a horde of wild Pikachus that's been spotted in Viridian Forest, with the caveat that one of the Pikachus has to be set aside as Boss's Assistant Ayane wants one. Then the heroes' class from Alola arrives in Kanto for their field trip, where they were only greeted by Brock, but over at Professor Oak's lab they're met up by, surprisingly enough, Lt. Surge who recruits the heroes to help him deal with the Team Scorn trouble over in Viridian Forest.
Over in Viridian Forest, James and Zed after a number of Pikachus are captured get word that the heroes are coming for them, so James sends Zed off to go steal some of the Pokémon in the Cerulean City gym in order to help provide a distraction to give time for the men taking the captured Pikachus out of there to make as much distance as possible. James and his portion are confronted and easily wiped as the heroes brought as many of their legendary Pokémon with them as possible to stop Team Scorn's efforts (a move brought to you by the letter 'overkill').
However, James in an effort to buy the Pikachu-spiriting away team more time to get away tells the heroes that the Cerulean city gym's in trouble, making Ash and Brock both fear for Misty's well-being. Dawn, Kenny, and Trip zoom ahead to Cerulean City and feel their hearts sink when they see the Cerulean City gym is engulfed in flames. They help put the fire out, but not before getting it from Daisy, Violet, and Lily that Misty was rushed to the ICU at a Saffron City hospital due to rushing back in to save Daisy who was being vain slash stupid.
This will continue into the next chapter, where the heroes and the rest of their class visit the hospital that Misty was taken to. It... will also mark something of a darker turn that will be taken in the story going forward. Mind you, Misty IS going to live, there's no way I'd ever off her, but that doesn't change the fact that the events at Cerulean City in this chapter, which resulted in great harm to someone the heroes personally care about, will show exactly WHY the Team Scorn higher ups say messing with the trainers they have dossiers on is no es bueno. But until then, take care.
