Chapter Two-hundred and seventeen: Military Mavericks

The heroes and their classmates all were meeting in their homeroom at trainer school on Melemele Island one day, because they were there to discuss the latest movie that Kenny would be making out of Kenny Harris Studios. As such, the new additions to the crew of Paul, Gladion, and Ideku were also there. To the surprise of some of the heroes, Kanto region gym leaders Lt. Surge and Sabrina were also there. "Alright folks," Kenny said, "Now we can lay some ground work for the latest Kenny Harris Studios movie."

"Umm, why are two Kanto region gym leaders here?" Mallow asked as she raised a hand.

"Yeah, I was about to ask that myself," Paul remarked, his tone solely denoting curiosity.

Gesturing to Lt. Surge, Kenny explained, "Lt. Surge here came by to fill a creative consultant role, as this latest movie will be a comedy set at a military training camp, and Lt. Surge here is an actual military member and knows all of that stuff." Gesturing to Sabrina, Kenny went on, "As for Sabrina, she's here because she's getting into being an actress, and her agents wanted me to give her a role in a movie that my film studio makes due to the surprising popularity of the films we've made, and they figure it'll give her a popularity boost to make her more appealing to film producers."

Ash nodded once in understanding. "That's fair. So what's the film about?"

Pointing at Ash, Kenny said, "Glad you asked. Despite the overall military theme of the movie, it's still a comedy set at a training camp, with all of the hijinks that one can expect, but in the end the military officer running the training camp gets the new recruits ready for action." Pointing at Paul, Kenny said, "That's where you come in, Paul. You'll be given the role of the military officer running the training camp, meaning you'll be leading the new recruits through their training."

Paul nodded once in understanding. "What will my character be like?"

"He's the kind of officer who will be serious and do his job when need be," Kenny said, "But lack of actual work has allowed him to relax. The opening scene of the movie will even show him gearing up to go fishing at a lake near the training camp."

"Oh, like this one movie I saw where a Lt. Col. spent down time fishing at a lake near base," Lt. surge said.

"Would a Lt. Col. be a good officer to run a training camp?" Kenny asked.

"Typically, you don't see officers that highly ranked running a military training camp," Lt. Surge said, "You usually only see Sergeants run the new recruits through training. However, I have heard that some bases are having higher ranked officers run recruits through training due to lack of available personnel due to various issues. You can thank Team Scorn for that."

Pointing at Lt. Surge, Kenny said, "Ooh, that reminds me, Paul's character is training the new recruits to get them ready to go out to war between their nation and a fictional nation called Scornia, which is an obvious play on Team Scorn. And speaking of, after the movie's finished and it goes up on the website, there will be included a link one can click on to go to a site being set up to manage and take donations to help Misty's sisters rebuild the Cerulean City gym, as well as help cover medical expenses they will face to cover Misty's needs."

"You're... running a charity for Misty," Sophocles remarked, "That's actually rather noble."

As Kenny nodded, Sabrina said, "Yes, I know about what happened. I tried scrying info with my psychic powers, but I keep being blocked by dragonic visages."

"No doubt Ayane's Reshiram is up to that," Dawn muttered under her breath. Speaking up, Dawn asked, "So Kenny, what will Sabrina's role be?"

"She will be someone ranked much higher than Paul's character," Kenny said, "Probably a General." Looking to Lt. Surge, Kenny asked, "General is the highest rank in the military, right?"

"Yeah," Lt. Surge confirmed with a nod.

Turning back to face everyone as a whole, Kenny said, "The film will first show Paul's character casually living life at the base until Sabrina's character shows up and tells him that he's got recruits coming that he'll be entrusted to train." Looking to Lt. Surge, Kenny asked, "Would a General normally do that?"

"Not typically, no," Lt. Surge replied, "Unless of course one of the recruits in that case just so happens to be the General's kid. I've heard of cases where a General visits bases to check up on a son or daughter of theirs who just so happens to be at the base."

Nodding once, Kenny said, "Good, that'll be the hook. Sabrina's character comes to the base, tells Paul's character he has recruits to train with one of said recruits just so happening to be Sabrina's character's kid, and then things will go from there."

"Question," Lillie said as she raised a hand, "The recruits are military personnel too, right? Do they have ranks?"

"Yes, although they will be at the lowest rank," Kenny replied.

"That would be Private you're thinking of," Lt. Surge said.

Kenny nodded once in the affirmative. "Yes, I heard that before, glad to see I got it right." To the group as a whole, Kenny said, "Since Paul is the leading character, and his character will be training a lot of Privates, the title of the movie worked itself out naturally." Kenny turned to face the dry erase board and wrote at the top of it the title he came up with for the movie. "Folks," Kenny said, "Soon we shall get to work on 'Paul's Privates'!"

As Dawn and Trip wore dry, mildly disgusted looks on their faces, Paul said, "Oh, I get it. My character will be working with the Privates, and he'll probably have the same name as me given how you tend to have actors in your movies use their real names for the characters that they play." Within short order, various details were hammered out, and soon enough efforts on Paul's Privates were a go.

...

The screen was black, only showing the Kenny Harris Studios logo as Kenny's voice could be heard saying, "A Kenny Harris production." The screen then lit up to show the outside of a building with a sign that said 'Fort Trainer Military Base' as military music played in the background. Then the scene showed Paul's character in bed, groggily waking up when an alarm clock went off. He got out of bed, showing he wore a murky green t-shirt and similar sleep pants, and stretched as he yawned. The title of the movie, Paul's Privates, was then shown on the screen in army style lettering after Paul walked off screen.

The next scene showed Paul getting dressed, putting on a murky green long sleeved dress shirt, a fisherman's vest jacket on over that, military pants he tucked the legs of into rubber fishing boots, and a fishing hat with fishing hooks and a military rank symbol that looked like a bird of prey. He then grabbed a tackle box and a fishing rod, then went outside to a nearby lake to fish. He cast a line, and then waited in silence, letting the time pass by easily as he relaxed. As Paul fished, Ideku wearing an enlisted men's outfit came walking up to the lake, clearly looking for Paul.

"Uhh, Colonel?" Ideku said, "We got a visitor coming that you, uhh, may wanna go see."

"Corporal," Paul replied, "The supply guy doesn't necessarily need to see me. You can just sign the form to accept the delivery."

"Uhh, it's not the supply guy, sir," Ideku said, "It's... umm... General Sabrina."

Right away, Paul looked surprised and at attention. "Well holy geez, Corporal! Why didn't you say it was a General?!"

"I was gonna to but you cut me off!" Ideku complained.

"Well there's no time to waste!" Paul said, "I'll just leave my stuff here at the lake, I can come back for it later!" Paul and Ideku then ran from the lake to the front area of the military base, arriving just in time to see a limo pull up. The driver, played by Hobbes, got out, went to the door at the end on his side, and opened it, letting out Sabrina dressed as a military General. Upon seeing Sabrina, Ideku and Paul both saluted her, although Paul soon flinched a bit in pain.

To the men, Sabrina said, "Lt. Col. Paul H. Blake, I assume?" Paul said nothing, although his face did contort a bit in pain. "...Are you okay?" Sabrina asked.

"Finger... caught on a fishhook," Paul said.

...

A short while later inside of Paul's office at the military base, Paul now wearing a bandage on his right index finger sat at his desk as he met with Sabrina. "Sorry that you came to find the bade here in such a state, General," Paul said, "We don't see much use."

Sabrina nodded once in understanding. "I can tell by how you seem to have more leisure time than other officers running training bases."

"Well it's just that this base is more of a storage grounds nowadays, uhh no offence," Paul replied.

Holding up a hand to cut off arguments, Sabrina replied, "It's no problem. Although we have maintained our bases, some such as the one you're leading here have fallen into some degree of disuse due to lack of conflict our nation has faced over the past half century." Giving Paul a wry look, Sabrina said, "...Until recent events, that is."

"Oh, are you talking about how Scornia had declared war on us?" Paul asked.

Nodding once in the affirmative, Sabrina said, "Given what they're bringing to the table, we need to get as many men trained and ready for battle as possible. That being said, you're about to get a lot busier around here, as a whole troop of Privates are being sent here for training."

"Oh well it's real swell of you to let me know in advance, General," Paul said, "Although I wonder why you took the trouble of visiting the base here in person."

"One of the Privates that will be coming here, Gladion, is my son," Sabrina said, "I may be a General, but I'm also a parent. As such, I wanted to make sure that the base that Gladion will be training at is in top form to help him get to top form."

"Don't you worry, General," Paul said, "Why this is the best training camp our nation has to offer! You can count on me!"

Nodding once, Sabrina said, "I look forward to seeing the results." Sabrina then got up and left the room, but met Ideku coming in at the door. Ideku immediately tensed up into saluting Sabrina, letting her go on her way.

After Sabrina was gone, Ideku asked, "What did the General wanted to see you about, sir?"

"We're going to be getting some new Privates to train here for action, Corporal," Paul said, "The General was kind enough to visit us in person to tell us herself because her son is one of the Privates we're getting."

"Oh, we're getting a General's son," Ideku said in a calm, casual tone. After two seconds, Ideku instantly had a freaked out, surprised look on his face. "We're getting a General's son?! Holy moley!"

"Corporal, relax," Paul said, "We can do this. Well, I can do this, I'm the officer in charge here. ...Well, I'm the highest ranked person here, you do a lot of, if not most, of the paperwork around here. I swear Corporal, with all of the forms that you bring me to sign, I get the feeling that before I earn enough points to be discharged, you'll end up owning my house."

"Oh no, sir," Ideku said, "I'd never take a Colonel's house."

...

Later, Paul with Ideku standing off to the side behind him stood before the characters played by Ash, Kiawe, Sophocles, Trip, Trevor, Tierno, and Gladion. "Alright men, welcome to the Fort Trainer Military Base, where over the next six weeks you'll be run through boot camp to get you trained up and ready for action in our nation's upcoming war against Scornia," Paul said, "I'm the officer in charge here, Lt. Col. Paul. Now, any questions before we begin?"

"Uhh, yeah I have a question," Kiawe said, "Will our training involve going fishing?"

Paul looked down and saw he was still dressed for fishing. Rolling his eyes, Paul said, "No, I just didn't have time to change before you all arrived. Now when I call your name, please say 'here'." Holding up a clipboard, Paul said, "Private Ash."

"Here," Ash said when he raised a hand.

Nodding once, Paul went on, "Private Kiawe."

"Present," Kiawe said when he raised a hand.

Paul took note of Kiawe as he was the one who called out his fishing attire. After making checks off on the board, Paul said, "Private Sophocles."

"Yo," Sophocles said, holding up a hand.

"Private Trip," Paul said as he went on.

"Yes?" Trip asked, a slightly amused smirk on his face.

Rolling his eyes again, Paul said, "Now come on guys, try to be serious here." Continuing with the role call, Paul said, "Private Trevor."

"Here," Trevor replied as he raised a hand.

"Private Tierno," Paul went on.

Holding up a hand, Tierno said, "Present."

After checking something else off the list, Paul said, "Private Gladion."

"Oh, umm, here sir," Gladion said, looking a bit nervous and humbled to be there.

After making the final check on the clipboard, Paul said, "Good. Now that we're all present and accounted for, we can get started on training."

...

The first thing that Paul got to work on with his Privates was getting things cleaned up; the base kept up with maintaining stuff, but there was a... sense of dirtiness from disuse, so Paul was having the men clean the place up. He passed it off as 'instilling discipline', but a quick whisper to the Privates from Ideku more or less confirmed that Paul simply didn't want to tackle so much cleaning on his own. He still helped out, saying that he wouldn't give men under his command an order that he himself wouldn't want to follow; he was willing to help clean the base up, he just didn't wanna tackle all of the cleaning alone.

After that, Paul and Ideku led the privates to the barracks. "Discipline is a key element you men will need to help you with fighting the enemy in the field," Paul said to the Privates, "And discipline starts in the morning where you wake up. And you wake up in bed, so discipline starts in bed. For your next step in discipline training, you men will make, unmake, and re-make your beds until you get it perfectly. You'll be so good at making your beds you'll be able to do it in your sleep."

"You... you mean while we're sleeping in them?" Ash asked.

"Oh, umm, there won't be much time for sleeping," Paul replied, "No sir, not with all of the bed-making that you men will be doing."

...

Later, Paul was watching as his Privates were going around a field track at the base. Standing next to him was Ideku, who was drinking from a can of grape soda. "Corporal, I need you to be honest with me," Paul began, sounding a little unsure of himself, "Am I doing a good job connecting with the men?"

"Connecting with them, sir?" Ideku replied.

Gesturing to where the men were running around the track, Paul went on, "Sure I may be their commanding officer, but the respect they have to give me due to my rank will only help me lead them so far. I need to be a person they can trust on a personal level to lead them, only then can I get the most out of them."

Gesturing to the men as they were running around the track, Ideku said, "Well so far all you had them do was chores and exercises. Maybe some downtime will help to lighten the mood, sir."

Holding a hand to his chin, Paul said, "Downtime, hmm?" There was a look of consideration on his face, and he was suddenly struck with an idea that he felt would be a real effective way to bond with the men.

...

To the surprise of the Privates, Paul with Ideku backing him up led them to the lake near the base. "So fishing did end up being part of training," Kiawe said.

"This isn't just relaxation," Paul said, "It's also to teach the value of patience, something that you will need to help you through high stress situations like what you will more than likely find yourselves in when you're in the field." Setting his tackle box down, Paul said, "It's not all relaxation, but there still is SOME relaxation. You guys ought to have breaks every once and a while, doing nothing but training and discipline non-stop is not the way to go."

"I was beginning to think that WAS the way you were thinking," Ash commented.

Rolling his eyes, Paul said, "Ha ha, very funny Private Ash. Now, everyone got their fishing rods?" When all of the Privates held their fishing rods up, Paul said, "Good. Now, just do as I do." Paul got his fishing rod ready, then cast a line out into the lake. The men with him did the same, even Ideku got in on it, and soon enough all of them were fishing.

As the men all fished in silence, Sophocles asked, "When will any of us catch something?"

"Fishing takes patience, Private Sophocles," Paul said, "You need to-"

"Whoa geez, I got something!" Ideku called out, "It feels like a big one!" Seeing how much Ideku was struggling, Paul dropped his rod and went to help Ideku reel in his catch. Soon, all of the Privates ran over to help Ideku reel his catch in. Their combined strength soon allowed them to reel in what Ideku had caught in the lake, but the catch that the Corporal got was NOT something that any of them would ever have expected, especially given it was in an in-land lake located near a military base used as a training camp.

Ideku had fished up a Kyogre.

Being obviously pissed at having been fished up, Kyogre roared at the men it saw. "RUN!" Paul screamed as he led the rest of the men away from the lake as fast as all of them could run, just in time to avoid Kyogre calling down bolts of electricity by using Thunder, striking random spots on the ground as it cried out angrily.

...

Early the following morning, Ideku was playing military wake up music on a trumpet, waking up all of the Privates and making them rush out to stand at attention, knocking over and somewhat trampling over Ideku in the process although Ideku being trampled was off-screen. Soon all of the men were at attention, at which point Paul did the morning roll call. "Alright men," Paul said, "In the brief time you've been here so far, you've made a lot of progress. Your basic training has come along very nicely, and you've even gotten down both patience and discipline."

"Tierno even made his bed while he was sleeping," Trevor spoke up.

To the men as Ideku came walking over looking hurt and he had footprints all over him, Paul said, "But now what all you've gotten down will be put to the test. You all will have to take part in an obstacle course competition that various military officials will come by to watch, including General Sabrina. You guys will have to do your best to impress them."

Nudging Gladion with his left elbow, Kiawe whispered to him, "Gotta look your best for mommy dearest, mmm?" Gladion, for his part, looked embarrassed and turned away from Kiawe.

...

The next scene showed an audience sitting in a set of bleachers as an obstetrical course was set up around the track at the base. At the start of the course were all of the privates, and standing off to the side were Paul and Ideku, with Paul holding a whistle. "Now men, when I blow the whistle, you start going through the course, got it?" After all of the Privates nodded in understanding, Paul said, "On your marks... get set..." The men all got ready to start, and took off like rockets the moment Paul blew into his whistle.

The men first had to go through a small field of tires they had to step in quickly, then they immediately dropped and crawled under a field of set up barbed wire. Then they climbed up over a wall with some ropes, then they ran over some large solid dirt bumps that acted as mini hills. There were a few more different obstacles in the course, but eventually all of the Privates finished. The audience all cheered when the last Private finished, and Sabrina even got up to go over to personally address Paul about what she had seen.

"I have to admit, Lt. Col.," Sabrina said, "You must have done some amazing work with the men. Even the two well-fed ones who finished last still passed well within the limit, meaning all of the men you've been given to train are fit for fighting duty."

"Oh, thank you, General," Paul said, "Oh, did you notice that it was your son who came in first?"

Nodding once, Sabrina said, "Oh yes, Gladion's always been trying to impress me due to our family's military history and lineage, always feels like he's got a lot to live up to. It's good he has respect for the military, but I've been wanting him to relax at least a little. He's always been a bit... worried about doing me proud, you know? I know he means well and I do appreciate it, but I would have no objections if he relaxed in that regard at least a little. You can't be on duty all the time."

"Oh, he actually was able to incorporate relaxation into the training," Ideku said, "And still taught your son and the other Privates the importance of patience."

"Unconventional training, hmm?" Sabrina said, "Well, I'm glad to see not all of the ranking officers under my command are strict by the book types. Unconventional methods can be just as effective." Sabrina then saluted Paul and Ideku, both of whom saluted her back. ...Only for Paul to flinch in pain as his face contorted out of pain as one of his fingers caught one of the fishhooks on his hat again. The scene then zoomed out as hopeful military camp music played in the background, allowing the scene to fade to black on a positive note as Sabrina couldn't help but laugh at Paul's clumsiness.

...

A where are they now segment played as end credits music was played at the end of the film. Pictures of all of the men at the training camp were shown. The first one was of Ash, with the caption next to Ash's photo saying 'Private Ash served three tours in the war against Scornia until a leg injury received in the line of duty got him a medical discharge. He now lives a peaceful life in his home region of Kanto, working a career as a top Pokémon trainer who had won several major tournaments.'

The photo of Ash faded and was replaced by a photo of Sophocles, with the caption next to it saying 'Private Sophocles eventually worked his way up to the rank of Corporal before his final tour of duty. He now works at a development lab, helping to research new technologies. He is currently in a relationship with longtime girlfriend Misty, who he plans to take out to dinner next week as he plans to pop the question to her there in the hopes that she will say yes.'

The photo of Sophocles faded and was replaced with one of Kiawe, with the caption next to his photo saying, 'Private Kiawe sadly was killed in action during his first tour of duty, making him the first of Paul's Privates to lose their life. However, his death was because he sacrificed himself to buy time to let various injured fellow soldiers, including Trip, get to safety. The surviving members of Paul's Privates get together once a year to have a celebratory toast in Kiawe's honor.'

The photo of Kiawe faded and was replaced with a photo of Trip, with the caption next to it saying, 'Private Trip, after finishing his final tour of duty, was able to retire and get into the business of running his own restaurant. The restaurant is still in business to this day, and members of the military always get discounts. Members of Paul's Privates, Trip's fellows from training, are allowed to eat there for free, and Trip's restaurant is where Sophocles and his girlfriend got engaged.'

The photo of Trip faded and was replaced with a photo of Trevor, with the caption next to it saying, 'After he was discharged from the military due to injury, Private Trevor got into writing, publishing a successful series of gothic fantasy books about a trio of friends who go around hunting and slaying vampires. Trevor named the lead protagonist of these books after himself, with the lone girl of the group being named Sypha and the other guy in the trio being named Alucard.'

The photo of Trevor faded and was replaced with a photo of Tierno, with the caption next to it saying, 'Private Tierno stuck with the military until he was given a medical discharge due to losing his left leg from the knee down in an attack while serving a tour of duty shortly after reaching the rank of Captain. His artificial leg did nothing to stop his career after the military, being a dance teacher for actors whose roles in movies required learning how to perform various kinds of dancing.'

The photo of Tierno faded and was replaced with a photo of Gladion, with the caption next to it saying, 'Private Gladion, when his time came up in the military, chose not to re-enlist, having felt a bit overshadowed by his mom General Sabrina. After the military, Gladion was able to go to medical school and eventually graduated and got to become a surgeon. The first person he operated on was his mom. Against policy for surgeons to operate on family, but there wasn't another surgeon free at the time.'

The photo of Gladion faded and was replaced with a photo of Ideku, with the caption next to it saying, 'Corporal Ideku was given a hardship discharge when the last male adult member of his family passed, leaving his family's farm short-handed on people to help with the work. Ideku eventually found and married the love of his life and, through that union, Ideku's family's farm was able to survive on until a recession forced Ideku's folks to sell the farm they've had for over four generations.'

The photo of Ideku faded and was replaced with a photo of Paul, with the caption next to it saying, "Lt. Col. Paul, some time after the group of Privates he trained known as Paul's Privates, passed basic training and were shipped out to war, had earned the last of the points he needed to be discharged. He got to retire and go home to his family, but not long afterwards he shoved a girl out of the way of an oncoming collision, saving her life at the cost of his own as he took the hit in the girl's place.'

The photo of Paul faded, and then the actual credits began playing.

Paul's Privates, the third movie made by Kenny Harris Studios, proved to be a rousing success. Additionally, a link on the Kenny Harris Studios homepage was put up for people to click on and go to a fundraising site where donations could be pledged to help raise funds for the rebuilding efforts for the Cerulean City gym, also said efforts are raising money for Misty's medical expenses. The fundraising efforts were wild successes, as loads of money was raised; the Sensational Sisters, when they were all interviewed about it, were actually teary eyed by how much was being done not just for their gym but also their younger sister.

The heroes and their classmates were even commended for their efforts, and their class was given a community service award by the school board in the Alola region. There was a slight hiccup when Mr. Steinburg the Class 1-B homeroom was talking to an Officer Jenny and was arrested by her when, while talking about the movies that had been made by Class 1-A, he said that he liked Paul's Privates the best out of what all the Class 1-A kids had to offer. Steinburg made the mistake of NOT providing any context, and was only let off the hook when it was proven he was merely talking about some home movies kids were making and putting up on the internet.

The heroes, seeing that efforts were going to save the Cerulean City gym and help Misty through her struggles, couldn't help but cheer, knowing that the dark days that Misty and her sisters were facing would be drawing to an end. ...However, something came up that threatened to dump all over their good cheer, and said thing cropped up more or less the morning after Mallow boasted that nothing could go wrong. Kenny, the look on his face making it clear he had some troubling news, proceeded to tell all of his classmates, as well as Ideku and a sheepish looking Katsuku who also came along, about what was threatening to ruin the good vibes.

...

"The Badorigo parents are threatening to sue us?!" the heroes and their classmates said in unison when they met in class the following morning.

Nodding once in the affirmative, Kenny said, "Well, more like sue Kenny Harris Studios and, due to how it's connected to Paul's Privates, the fundraising effort."

"Why in blazes would Ideku and Katsuku's parents wanna sue?!" Dawn demanded, looking just a tiny little teenie weenie bit absolutely livid.

"Initially," Kenny began with an exasperated roll of his eyes, "Mr. and Mrs. Badorigo were claiming to be pissy that Ideku had been used in two Kenny Harris Studio films so far without their consent even though Ideku himself willingly took part, even though a lawyer I got informed me that they would have only had a claim there if Ideku were twelve or under, as Johto region laws are being applied here due to the Badorigos being Johto region natives. Ideku being in his mid teens, not to mention how he is still volunteering, renders his and his brother's parents' argument there moot."

Dawn had a dry, unamused look on her face. "...Something tells me they don't intend to give up."

Rolling his eyes again, Kenny said, "According to my lawyer, the lawyer that Mr. and Mrs. Badorigo got said that they plan to find and use any and all reasons to bring their complaining to court. My lawyer said that there is absolutely no way they have any legal base, but until that's settled in court, they can STILL push through. And that will eat into what funding we have, maybe even the fundraising effort as the Badorigos' lawyer says it was raised partly with Ideku's efforts so they feel entitled to a slice of that pie."

"That money's for Misty and her sisters!" Sophocles exclaimed, clearly outraged.

"Is there any way to keep them from pushing through?" Ash asked.

Sighing in an exasperated manner that made it clear he hated the Badorigo parents, Kenny said, "Yes. The Badorigos' lawyer says his clients will drop all charges on the condition that any movie that Kenny Harris Studios makes from this point moving forward that has Ideku in a role ALSO must have Katsuku in a role of equal or greater significance to the plot. The Badorigo parents also said they would have no objection to a Kenny Harris Studios movie that has Katsuku in it but NOT Ideku. Long story short, they want their son who they blatantly favor over the other to be in the spotlight." Gesturing to his classmates, Kenny said, "There's the REAL reason that they're threatening to sue."

"Wait," Serena said, "You mean to say that unless we bend over backwards and give the parents of Ideku and his brother what they want, they'll ruin what all efforts we've accomplished with raising money for Misty and her sisters?"

"How the hell do you think I feel?!" Katsuku snapped, placing a hand over his chest in a defensive gesture, "This ain't the first time me and Ideku's parents have tried fucking Ideku over because he got something nice and I didn't! I would only want something if I earn it, not have it handed to me on a silver platter because someone else was screwed over to get it! I have my pride, damn it!"

As the class all looked a mix of various unamused feelings, Trip asked, "So what are we going to do?"

Sighing, Kenny said, "We don't need this headache, especially as it'll screw over Misty and her sisters, also we still have to deal with the Ultra Guardian work AND take part in the Island Challenge for those among us taking it. So we're going to have to give in and give those babies their bottle, just to get them to shut the hell up." Shrugging his shoulders, Kenny said, "The next movie I had in mind would have been a murder mystery where it's just a single detective who comes in to investigate the apparent murder of a rich older woman who has three surviving adult daughter and a maid that's disliked by the daughters, but now it's going to also be something of a buddy cop film where it'll be a pair of detectives who are partners brought in instead. The detective partners role will be given to Ideku and Katsuku."

"A mystery, huh?" Dawn said, "I kind of like that genre. I'm looking forward to it."

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN

Author's notes;

This chapter features the third Kenny Harris Studios movie being made, the military themed comedy titled Paul's Privates. The movie not only turns out to be a success, but it helps with a fundraising effort to raise money to not only help rebuild the Cerulean City gym but also cover Misty's medical expenses. All is well, right up until the Badorigo parents threaten to dump all over the good vibes, which will also threaten to drain the fundraising efforts, due to Kenny Harris Studios using Ideku as an actor but not Katsuku, and will only agree to not press things further if Katsuku is in any film Ideku is in, also the Badorigo parents say they wouldn't mind a movie that has Katsuku in it but not Ideku.

Not wanting the headache, Kenny decided that the best course of action was simply to give the baby its bottle and agree to start having Katsuku star in some Kenny Harris Studios movies. To his credit, Katsuku himself is very much uncomfortable with the whole situation. The next movie is revealed to be a murder mystery that will be adjusted to also have buddy cop elements so that Ideku and Katsuku can star together, to speed up making their parents shut up. But that will have to wait, as the next chapter will see the heroes taking the Island Challenge deal with Nanu. Doing research into his character, I learned something about Nanu in the anime that I plan to make use of here. Until then, take care.
