Chapter Two-hundred and nineteen: Ultra Ula'ula Underscoring
The heroes and their classmates were enjoying a fireworks show at night, and Dawn and Trip noted to their amusement that Kenny had his Totem Mimikyu Delirious out with him to watch the display. Within short order, the fireworks show ended. As the crowds began to disperse, Lana said, "Wow, the fireworks show was amazing! When will the next one be?"
Serena looked like she had the answer, but she was cut off when a rogue firework went off, drawing the attention of the heroes and their classmates. Looking out, they eventually spotted what the reborn trainers knew was a Blacephalon but they had to act like they had no idea what it was. The Blacephalon was making fireworks go off by expanding its head, having it blow up then regenerate, then continue the process back and forth.
As the people saw the display and enjoyed it, with some of the folks who were leaving coming back when they spotted an encore performance, an Ultra Wormhole opened up and two Xurkitree fell out, one focusing on the Blacephalon and the other just... wandering off when it heard music coming from a ways away. When it saw what was going on at the site of the music, the second Xurkitree noticed humans dancing to the music and having a good time all around. This seemed to make the second Xurkitree excited, so it jumped into the party and began to dance around as well.
Xurkitree's arrival had the opposite effect it intended; the humans at the party all cried out in freaked out alarm and took off running, but Xurkitree was so caught up in dancing and partying to the music that it didn't notice the humans fled before it noticed the overall volume of noise in the area had dropped. When it stopped and saw that all of the humans were gone and it was alone, the second Xurkitree leaned over as if sad.
...
The next day at trainer school, the heroes and their classmates were all wondering about the mysterious walking fireworks show from the previous night. "It looked like a clown, so maybe it came from a circus?" Kenny said.
"The heads of clowns do not blow up, Kenny," Kiawe said. Looking down with a look of consideration on his face, Kiawe said, "Or at least they shouldn't blo-" Kiawe was cut off when the school bell was rung in a furious manner, alerting the Class 1-A students that they were being called in for an Ultra Guardian mission.
Kukui sent the students down quickly to the base under their class, changing into their Ultra Guardian outfits on the way, and soon came to mission control where they saw Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet on the big monitor. "Ultra Guardians, your next mission is already here," Lusamine said before showing an image of Blacephalon on the monitor, "This creature was observed at the fireworks festival you all went to last night."
"Hey, it's the creepy clown thing," Kenny said, "What, is it an Ultra Beast?"
"Indeed," Lusamine said, "I-" Lusamine was cut off when a bunch of lights went off, but luckily things were set back to normal when emergency power was activated. "...Yes," Lusamine said, "Anyway, you must go to Route Three, where a power plant is located. The Ultra Aura was picked up there, so it must be where Blacephalon had shown up. Go, Ultra Guardians!"
The Ultra Guardians all took off after saluting Lusamine, all of them getting on their designated Ride Pokémon, aside from Dawn using Lincoln again as the Ride Fearow prepped for her had fallen ill again. The Ultra Guardians all took off from their base, ready to go confront Blacephalon and stop it from messing with the power plant that is located on Alola Route Three.

When the Ultra Guardians got to the site of their latest mission, what they saw was NOT a Blacephalon, but rather a Xurkitree which only the reborn trainers knew but they had to pretend they didn't. "Hey, that's not the Ultra Beast that mom told us about!" Lillie said.
"Well this is the right scene and your mom did say an Ultra Beast was here," Dawn said, "So maybe it's an Ultra Beast as well." The Xurkitree reared up and sent a powerful electric attack right at the Ultra Guardians, but Dawn tossed up a ball while saying, "Alright, Germany! Let's get goin'!" Coming out was Dawn's named Garchomp, who tanked the electric attack from Xurkitree like a champ. "It's a good thing I rotated Germany into my party to help with Tambourine's training," Dawn said as a call came through to the Ultra Guardians.
After Ash answered the call, Lusamine said, "Kids, you should be facing an Ultra Beast we've classified as Xurkitree instead! It's feeding off of electricity in the area, so Wicke's going to cut off the electricity flow in that area!" Within seconds, the flow of electricity in the plant ceased, and the Xurkitree began to spasm due to the source of its electrical meal being cut off.
Seeing that Xurkitree was spasming, Ash said, "Quickly, Dawn! Your Garchomp's the best we got to deal with an electricity using heavy hitter!"
Nodding once, Dawn said, "Germany, rush that Xurkitree and strike it with Dragon Claw!" The named Garchomp cried out before rushing right at the spazzing Xurkitree, but right before it got within range to strike Xurkitree with Dragon Claw, Germany sensed something coming to it jumped back to get a bit of distance. As it turned out, Blacephalon had shown up and soon got into a battle of light displays that was quickly growing brighter and brighter.
As the heroes turned away to shield their eyes, another call from Lusamine came in. "Kids, the sensors we have here at base tell us that another Ultra Beast had just shown up!"
"Yeah, it's that Blacephalon thing!" Ash said, "It and Xurkitree are engaging in a light show contest!"
"Our sensors indicate that said light show contest can threaten all of Alola if it keeps escalating," Lusamine said, "And that's not all! A second Xurkitree has been confirmed to be in the nearby area, bothering groups of people and scaring them off!"
"A second Xurkitree?!" Ash exclaimed, "How are we gonna deal with it, especially as we got the first Xurkitree and a Blacephalon here already?!"
"I shall go deal with the second Xurkitree," Kenny said, hopping onto his Ride Pokémon and taking off.
After Kenny was gone, Dawn winced as she looked at the light show contest between the first Xurkitree and the Blacephalon. "Germany," Dawn said, "Close your eyes, turn around until I yell stop, then use Earthquake!" The named Garchomp, keeping his eyes closed, did as Dawn said, slowly turning until Dawn saw him directly face the two Ultra Beasts and yelled, "STOP!" Germany stopped in place and then unleashed a powerful Earthquake, sending seismic waves forward that slammed into both of the Ultra Beasts, cutting off the light show contest and letting the heroes see better.
After their vision returned to them, the heroes saw that Xurkitree and Blacephalon were swaying around out of dizziness due to the heavy hit. Taking the opportunity, Lana and Lillie threw Beast Balls at the two dizzy Ultra Beasts, catching them successfully. With the problem there stopped, the Ultra Guardians all breathed sighs of relief. "I hope Kenny's able to deal with the Xurkitree he's going after solo," Trip remarked, his tone mildly concerned.
...
Kenny followed the sounds of panicked shouting as he flew down and landed his Ride Pokémon in a populated city area. Kenny looked around, only to be nearly run over by a pair of fleeing people who were dressed like they had just come from a dance club. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down there," Kenny said, "What in blazes has your undies all up in a twist?"
"Big monster thing that looks like it's made of big think black wires!" one of the dance club people said, "It crashed the party and scared everyone away! Run before it gets to you!" The two dance club people then continued to flee, but Kenny ran in the direction that they were fleeing from.
Kenny eventually saw a dance club that he spotted a few people run out of screaming, then he said to himself, "Must be the place." Kenny ran on in and, sure enough, spotted the second Xurkitree on the dance floor, seeing it dance to the still playing music for a second before it stopped short, seemed to look around, then slumped over in sadness. "...Hmm... I wonder..." Kenny said aloud but to himself, before going over to turn off the playing music, getting the Xurkitree's attention.
Kenny then went out onto the dance floor, took out a phone, used it to pull up some music, then set it on a table after the music began playing. Kenny then proceeded to dance, busting various moves with the Xurkitree focusing on him. From what Kenny saw, the Xurkitree seemed excited to see someone dance, and as such it began to dance again itself. "Come on out, Delirious!" Kenny said as he called out his named Totem Mimikyu, "We need to bust a move and get fabulous!" Seeing what was going on, Delirious proceeded to dance as well.
...
The rest of the Ultra Guardians soon got to where people were fleeing from the second Xurkitree, running right into the dance club to back Kenny up. However, what they instead saw was that Kenny, his on hand team, and the second Xurkitree were all having a dance party. Xurkitree was in the middle of the dance floor busting moves, Kenny was off to the side with Delirious and Kermit dancing next to him, Zarbon stood off to the side with Shallot and Roshi with Zarbon twerking, Shallot bopping from side to side, and Roshi laying still with a glass drink bottle next to his front left foot, and Cell wearing MLG shades stood off to another side, holding one of his pincer claws to his chin as he nodded to the beat.
"...What?" Dawn said as she and the others all saw what was going on in the dance club.
...
Later, the Ultra Guardians all gathered with Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet; Kenny had caught the second Xurkitree, and it plus the first Xurkitree and the Blacephalon were going to be released into opened Ultra Wormholes. Blacephalon and the first Xurkitree were released just fine and went on to return to their respective home worlds. But when it came time to release the Xurkitree that Kenny caught, to the surprise of everyone it indicated it did not wish to return to its home world, that it was wanting to remain in this world with Kenny.
"...Just like the Celesteela that Trip caught," Lusamine remarked. Looking to the Xurkitree that Kenny caught, Lusamine said, "Are you sure you wish to remain in this world, Xurkitree?"
"...My guess is that it just wants to stick with a group it can party with," Dawn said, "It was reported to crash parties and that dance club, but it never showed any hostility towards humans." Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn went on, "My guess is that Kenny... in his own way... had been able to speak to this second Xurkitree in a way that appealed to it."
After the second Xurkitree confirmed again it wished to remain with Kenny, Lusamine nodded in understanding and had Burnet close the Ultra Wormhole. "Well now, Kenny," Lusamine said, "As Xurkitree is going to be staying with you, Will you be looking to nickname it?"
Looking up at his Xurkitree, Kenny smirked and said, "Yes and I got the perfect name in mind for the new cringe posse member." Gesturing to his Xurkitree, Kenny said, "It shall henceforth be dubbed as Badeeya!" The now dubbed Badeeya gave an excited, happy cry as the Ultra Guardians let out a laugh, signaling the end of yet another successful Ultra Guardian mission.
That night, the reborn trainers and Ash were all over at Serena's house, in her backyard watching her train her Pokémon for the upcoming Contest on Ula'ula Island. "Serena is doing well so far," Ash said, "Her Pokémon in addition to becoming stronger have also gotten a Contest win in under their belts. She's got a lot of steam on her side, I'm certain Serena will win!"
Dawn nodded in agreement from where she leaned against the fence. "She's also evolved a lot of her Pokémon. That will give them the edge in Contests, Trevenent especially."
"Oh yeah, Serena's Trevenent is shiny," Kenny said. Looking to the others while Serena continued to practice, Kenny asked, "Will all of our classmates be able to make it this time to watch Serena perform?"
"No, it'll just be the four of us plus Lillie, Lana, and Mallow," Dawn confirmed, "Although Lillie did say she was able to convince Gladion to come along this time to cheer Serena on."
"Kiawe and Sophocles are missing out on some action here," Trip said, "Serena's gonna blow the competition away for sure."
Ash nodded in agreement, gave a firm but confident and reassuring smile. "This will be Serena's best moment yet!"
...
The following day, the reborn trainers plus Ash, Serena, Lillie, Lana, Mallow, and Gladion were all at the Contest Hall on Ula'ula Island. "Ready to earn your second Tiki Necklace, Serena?" Ash asked.
"I'm as ready as I've ever been," Serena said, "I got this!"
"The competition's looking stiff already," Mallow said in a warning tone, "May, Shauna, and Ochaco have all been spotted registering for the contest already. Do you think that you can do it?"
Serena was about to speak up, but got cut off by the familiar voice of Bonnie calling out, "The only person she has to worry about is Max's sister, and that's only because some of Max's awesomeness is bound to have rubbed off on her." Everyone turned to see Bonnie come walking up, followed by an embarrassed Clemont. "If Serena is lucky and can avoid having to tango with Max's sister, then she'll be fine," Bonnie went on.
"Heh, it's kinda cute you're supporting the sister of your crush because she's the sister of your crush," Lana remarked.
"I beat May once before," Serena said, "I can do it again."
"Only because she made a bad call," Bonnie replied, "She's bound to pack something of a stronger fare if she faces you again."
"That's only assuming she faces May again," Lillie spoke up, "But what are the odds of that?"
Shrugging, Bonnie said, "No clue, but anyway Lillie, would you, Lana, or Mallow be interested in marrying my bi-"
Bonnie was cut off when Celmont quickly covered her mouth with his hand. "Please don't start that again, Bonnie!" Clemont cried out in an embarrassed tone. After settling down, Clemont said to the heroes, "So anyway, since we're all here, wanna sit together to watch the Contest?"
"A contest that Serena will win," Mallow insisted.
Shrugging, Bonnie added, "Or May if she gets unlucky."
...
Within short order, the contest was well underway. The appeal rounds flew by quickly, and to the relief of the heroes Serena as well as May both passed. Shauna did as well, as did Ochaco. The judges were all impressed with what they saw; Johanna was there as always, next to her was a Nurse Joy who lived local to Ula'ula Island, and next to her sat Acerola, who was filling in for Kahuna Nanu who had to call out sick. Remembering what Nanu had said about Contests, the reborn trainers were betting he just gave the duty to someone who actually was interested in doing it unlike him.
Then came the battle rounds. Early on, May eliminated Shauna, getting lucky as Shauna sent out Venusaur and May sent out Blaziken. A little after that came a battle between Serena and Ochaco. To the worry of Serena's friends in the audience, Serena's choice of Sylveon was met by Ochaco's choice of her shiny Mawile. Due to its partial steel typing and the fact that it knew Iron Head, Ochaco's Mawile was able to land some solid blows on Serena's Sylveon while taking little in turn. It didn't help that Serena lost some points solely because Mawile came out at all due to being shiny.
Eventually, Serena's Sylveon was defeated straight up in battle by Ochaco's Mawile, netting Ochaco the win. The last battle in the contest ended up seeing May face Ochaco, and Ochaco won when her shiny Lopunny was able to make the clock run out against May's Skitty; neither Skitty nor Lopunny fainted in the five minutes for that battle, but Ochaco had more points left in the end, meaning she won her second Tiki Necklace. There would be plenty of more Contests coming up, so Serena still had a shot to earn what she needed in time to qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival.
...Didn't mean losing against Ochaco yet again didn't crush her, though.
The following morning in class at trainer school, the heroes and all of their classmates were gathered waiting for Kukui to show up, as he said he was bringing in a special guest that, according to Kukui, would be recognized by Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Ash at the very least. "A special guest that you guys will know?" Sophocles said as he gestured to Ash and the reborn trainers, "Who do you think it'll be?"
Gently shaking his head, Ash said, "No clue, but it's probably an old friend of ours from-"
Ash was cut off when Kukui entered the classroom, followed by someone who Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Ash did indeed recognize, but who he ended up being was not quite who they expected. It was Looker, the investigator from Interpol. "Looker?!" Ash cried out in surprise, "You're the surprise guest?!"
"Indeed I am," Looker said, "And it's great to see you again, Ash. It's also great to see Dawn, Kenny, and Trip again as well, although I wish it were under different circumstances."
Dawn could tell right away that something was up. "...What's the situation?"
To the heroes and their classmates, Looker said, "I'm here because Interpol is managing an ex-affiliate of Team Scorn that's been moved here to the Alola region."
"Someone who used to be affiliated with Team Scorn?!" the students exclaimed in unison.
"Yes," Looker replied, "An ex-affiliate, mind you. They no longer do work with Team Scorn, and when they did do so it was by no means willing, only doing so because someone they held dear was being held by Team Scorn. The ex-affiliate, along with their rescued loved one, have been moved here to Alola as part of Interpol's Witness Protection Program."
Folding his arms over his chest, Kiawe said, "Let me guess, Team Scorn is after them."
Gesturing to Kiawe, Looker replied, "Given that the ex-affiliate's rescued loved one learned info that could lead to the capture of Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn, it is imperative that they be protected."
"We can capture the right hand woman of Team Scorn's leader?" Kenny said, standing up from his desk.
Looker nodded once in the affirmative. "Potentially, yes. Now, as some of you are persons I trust, and I can extend similar trust to your peers here, I feel as if you ought to be brought in on helping to protect the ex-affiliate and his rescued loved one." Looker then went to the door leading into the classroom, opened it, looked outside and said to someone waiting outside, "The two of you can come in now."
Looker stepped to the side to let in the persons he brought along, but before anyone could have gotten a good look, Ash's Greninja came out of its ball and rushed at the first person coming in, grabbing them by the collar of their shirt, slamming them against a wall, and had a glowing blade made by using the move Cut pressed against the throat of the first person who came in. To the surprise of Ash, Serena, and the reborn trainers, Ash's Greninja was threatening Alain, the Mega Charizard X user. Mairin came walking in afterwards and immediately cried out in alarm upon seeing Ash's Greninja threatening Alain.
"Greninja, back off!" Ash called out, making Greninja back off although it was still wary of Alain. Looking to Alain with an even look, Ash said, "Well... I guess I now know the reason why Greninja has been so wary of you. You turned out to have been doing work for Team Scorn."
"They got Mairin and held her hostage," Alain said as he dusted himself off, "I just couldn't do nothing, I had to get her back at all costs."
Kenny, although his attitude was firm, still was willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to Alain. "...If it was my kid sister who was taken by Team Scorn and held hostage, I'd probably pull off some bogus stunts to get her back."
"Mairin's not my little sister-" Alain began.
"I might as well be, though," Mairin spoke up, drawing an embarrassed look out of Alain. To the heroes and their classmates, Mairin went on, "Anyway, part of how Alain was let off the hook for what all bad stuff he did to save me is how I was able to provide info on Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn. It's info I got while I was still held hostage, but got roped into a game of hide and seek with the Assistants of the First Captain and the Admin of Team Scorn's Shield Sector."
Dawn folded her arms over her chest, looked right at Mairin. "...They are girls who look to be about the same age as you, that makes sense. Alright, what's the info?"
"It actually concerns a girl named Ochaco," Looker spoke up, getting the attention of the heroes and their classmates, "She's been known to have an interest in studying fossil Pokémon, and had competed in the recent Showcase season in the Kalos region."
"We know her," Serena said, "She's here in Alola now competing in the first Alola Pokémon Contest season." Folding her arms over her chest, Serena said, "What, is she secretly an agent working for Ayane?"
Gently shaking his head, Looker said, "No, Ochaco isn't working for Ayane, Ochaco IS Ayane."
"WHAT?!" the heroes and their classmates all exclaimed in unison.
Nodding once in confirmation, Looker went on, "As it turned out, Ayane disguised herself with her Ochaco alias so that she could act out in public without risk of being spotted and brought in for questioning. She's also used her Ochaco alias to enter competitions like the Showcases in Kalos, and the Contests here in Alola. Alain's young ward Mairin learned that Ochaco is really Ayane due to the aforementioned game of hide and seek, and was hiding in the room that Ayane used to put on her Ochaco disguise so she could go take part in a Showcase in Kalos."
Pounding a fist into her hand, Mallow snarled, "That cheating hussy! She entered Contests here in Alola under a fake name and identity and stole two wins that should have gone to Serena!"
"We will make her suffer for this mark my words!" Lana proclaimed.
"We will flay her flesh, break her bones, boil her blood, and rend her life essence asunder before scattering it across the four corners of oblivion!" Lillie exclaimed.
The reborn trainers all looked at Lillie with shocked looks of surprise on their faces. "...Holy crap, Lillie," Kenny said, as even he had been shocked, "We did NOT expect something like that to ever come out of your mouth."
"Heh, sorry," Lillie said as she calmed down, "I guess I just got riled up due to finding out one of the girls had been cheated multiple times by a villain."
To the classmates, Looker said, "Thanks to Mairin's information, Interpol now has the means of bringing in one of the most important members of Team Scorn. We might even be able to get a name out of Ayane for Team Scorn's ultimate leader, which will let us hunt that bastard down and, hopefully, send Team Scorn on the same path that Team Rocket had been sent on."
"But that begs the question," Trip asked, "How do we capture Ayane?"
Holding up a hand, Kukui said, "If I may." With all eyes on him, Kukui said, "As much as I don't like the idea of my students confronting members of Team Scorn, we may be able to pull off capturing Ayane while she's in her Ochaco alias."
Looker, who looked curious, asked, "How do you figure?"
Gesturing to Serena, Kukui said, "Much like Serena here, Ayane is in the Contest business. She's bound to keep showing up at Alola Contests until she earns enough Tiki Necklaces to enter the Grand Festival. We just wait until the next Contest, wait for Ayane to show up in her Ochaco alias, move into position, and then, when there will be as little commotion as possible caused, we move in and grab her." Gesturing to his students, Kukui said, "The others here are friendly to Ochaco as far as Ayane is concerned, she won't suspect something's up until we close her in a trap."
"There's one thing you didn't account for, mister professor guy," Mairin said, a hint of worry in her expression, "Ayane has the legendary Pokémon Reshiram."
"Dawn, her brother, and I each have multiple heavy hitting legendary Pokémon between us," Kenny countered, "Many of which are of levels of power comparable to that of Reshiram. We can simply overwhelm Ayane's Reshiram with sheer power and numbers."
Looker nodded once in agreement. "Yes, Kenny Harris. I am aware that you own Giratina, Champion Dawn owns Palkia, and Trip owns Dialga."
"We... have added a few more since then," Trip said. Trip then filled Looker in on what all he, Dawn, and Kenny had between them.
"M-my word!" Looker said, clearly taken aback out of sheer surprise, "Yes, the plan to capture Ayane by cornering her at a Contest while she's in her Ochaco alias is bound to work now! Not even Reshiram can stand up to that much opposition on its own!"
Alain looked similarly as surprised. "Y-yes. You three certainly are up there in what you can bring to the table."
Looking grumpy, Mallow said, "I'm still mad that Ayane has ruined Serena's efforts in the Contests here in Alola so far, and I bet she messed with Serena's efforts in those Showcases in Kalos too! What else could Ayane have messed with?!"
Alain, looking serious, said, "...Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn is the reason I had to enter the Lumiose Conference, went about earning the eight badges I needed to qualify to enter."
"If word got out that the latest Lumiose Conference had been sabotaged by Team Scorn in such a manner," Looker said, "It'd cause a whole slew of chaos in inter-regional news. I shudder to think of how the Kalos League and the region government of Kalos will react if they found out that the latest Lumiose Conference had been sabotaged in such a manner by Team Scorn."
Looking to Alain, Kenny with a hint of suspicion in his eyes said, "...You're that mysterious mercenary that I encountered in Grand Duchess Sabine's manor in the city where the Master Class Showcase was held. I also got it from Ash that you had later fought him while you were in your mercenary disguise during the chaos in Lumiose City following the Conference being interrupted before I could kick Trip's butt in front of everyone."
"Like hell you were gonna beat me!" Trip declared, "I was gonna be the one winning that battle!"
Nodding once with a resigned look on his face, Alain said, "...Yes. I did fight you in Sabine's mansion, Kenny. And I did fight Ash in Lumiose City to keep him and Serena from going forward to where Ayane was at."
Folding his arms over his chest, Kenny said, "I had an itching feeling that your use of Weavile, Unfezeant, and Bisharp was familiar."
Ash gave Alain a firm, serious look. "...You did a lot of bad things, Alain. Again, no wonder Greninja didn't trust you." Ash's expression relented a bit. "...But you were in a tight spot due to needing to rescue Mairin. I guess that I can't hold you entirely responsible. But it will take a VERY long time for you to make up for what all you had done, a very long time to earn back some lost trust."
"I know that full well, Ash," Alain replied, sounding as guilty as he sounded accepting. Although the reborn trainers, as well as Ash and Serena, were still shocked by the reveal of what Alain had been up to, in the end they could understand that he was worried by how Team Scorn had held Mairin hostage. And it DID lead to the good guys getting intel that could potentially lead to the capture of one of the highest ranked persons in Team Scorn, and from there getting info that could lead to learning the true identity of the person who laid beyond even that.
It would seem that the nightmare of Team Scorn might potentially be brought to an end soon, or at least be dealt a very serious blow.
...
After classes that day, Mallow went walking to the shopping district in the city with Lana and Lillie. "I still can't believe it, girls!" Mallow complained, "Serena had been cheated twice by a villain! And that's counting JUST what happened here in Alola!"
Lillie, looking similarly as peeved, said, "Yeah, yeah! We'll make her pay for daring to not only trying to ruin Serena's dreams many times over, but to do so while lying the entire time!"
"No one gets away with messing with one of our fellow girls like that," Lana swore vengefully, "I swear, the next time we see tha-"
Lana was cut off when Mallow, spotting something, quickly yanked Lana and Lillie along with her to take cover around a building's corner. Harshly whispering to the other girls, Mallow said, "Look over there, it's 'Ochaco'." Lana and Lillie looked to where Mallow was pointing and, sure enough, spotted Ochaco the fossil Pokémon researcher girl who also does Showcases and Contests. ...Or as Mallow, Lana, and Lillie now knew, Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn. The girl who was basically the second in command of Team Scorn was standing right there, buying a sweet baked good from a vendor stall.
"It's the Team Scorn boss's right hand girl," Mallow said, her tone and expression serious.
"...This may be rather risky," Lillie began, "But as Ayane is here right now, I was thinking that we can try to catch her early. First, one of us should send a text to either Dawn or Kenny or Trip, tell them come right here to the market square to find us since we've found Ochaco out in the open. Then, we go over to Ochaco and hold her attention here long enough for backup to arrive and then bring Och-"
Lillie was cut off when Mallow and Lana, calling out Steenne and Popplio respectively, ran out and right up to Ochaco, then when the two of them got close enough, had the Pokémon bust her disguise by yanking off her colored wig and washing away the makeup that made it look like she had past acne issues. "The jig is up, Ochaco!" Mallow declared loudly, "Or should I say Ayane the second in command of Team Scorn!"
A few of the people who saw what Mallow and Lana did, busting the disguise of a random girl who turned out to have been in disguise, and then loudly proclaim that she was a high ranking member of Team Scorn. There were even people filming what had happened on their smartphones, and there was nervous talking among the crowd of people who were at the market square at the time.
"This is what you get for how you had unfairly cheated Serena by beating her while in disguise!" Mallow said, now pointing an accusing finger at Ayane as well, "You don't deserve any of the wins you scored against her, you lying thie-"
*BWOOSH*
"RESHIRAM, FUSION FLARE!"
"RRROOOAAARRREEEHHHRRRAAAHHH!"
A gigantic sphere of flames was conjured up by Reshiram as it flew above the market square with Ayane on its back, right before casting the mighty attack straight down, destroying much in its path. Stands were blown away, people were sent flying into things like cars and buildings, and there were even some explosions that went off due to heat making gas in tanks in cars go way up. Mallow and Lana, who were joined by Lillie who ran out from hiding, were able to take cover behind a sturdy van that was far away from the point of impact to not be too wrecked.
The three Alola girls peeked out from behind the van to see Ayane flying above the destruction, looking down upon all below her like a vengeful deity whose ire had been stoked by foolish mortals. "Do you idiot girls have any idea what you've just done?!" Ayane exclaimed.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND NINETEEN
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the heroes and their classmates tackle the Ultra Guardians mission where a Blacephalon and a Xurkitree appear, only here a second Xurkitree shows up but only to find a place it can dance and party with others at. The first Xurkitree and the Blacephalon are dealt with and sent back home through the Ultra Wormhole, but the second Xurkitree ends up deciding to stay where it ended up, as it found its place it had been looking for with Kenny and his cringe posse. This allows the heroes to only have to worry about Serena's next Contest, which sadly she loses to Ochaco in, and Ochaco goes on to win the Contest.
The day after that, the heroes and their classmates are surprised when Looker comes to class with Alain and Mairin to fill them in on a few key points; Ochaco is actually an alias that Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn uses, that she and Team Scorn had held Mairin hostage to make Alain act as they want, and various other things are revealed to answer questions the heroes might of had. The heroes and their classmates are shocked, and some of them have firmer stances against Alain. But they all understand he was desperate to save Mairin, and it's thanks to Mairin that Ayane's exposed and that she could be captured.
...Unfortunately, Mallow, Lana, and Lillie, all of whom are VERY mad on Serena's behalf, end up scuttling things there without even thinking because they spot Ayane as Ochaco over in the market square after class randomly, and get the idea to try and capture her early. This ends up blowing up in the girls' faces, metaphorically and somewhat literally as well, as there were no ready means at the ready to suppress Ayane should she choose to unleash Reshiram which she did. This will continue into the next chapter, where the fallout of what happened here will be covered in further detail as someone will show up to clean the mess up. Until then, take care.
