Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter Two-hundred and twenty-one: Dragon's Dogma
Looker left the Class 1-A homeroom at the trainer school on Melemele Island to go see who the 'important visitor from Unova' was that was asking about Reshiram, which had been taken from Ayane after she was apprehended, same with all of Ayane's other on hand Pokémon. But unlike the others which Looker said arrangements will be made to turn them over to the custody of Ayane's family, Reshiram was released back into the wild pretty much immediately, so as to ensure it couldn't stay in the clutches of Team Scorn.
To the surprise of the heroes and their classmates, Looker came back a few moments after he left. "Umm, our special visitor is aware that Ash, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip are all here and wants them brought along as well," Looker said, piquing the interest of Ash and the reborn trainers. Nonetheless, they all got up and followed Looker out of the classroom to go see the special visitor from Unova. They were quite curious as to who exactly it was, how they knew the lot of them, and why they were asking so much about Reshiram.
They immediately got their answer when they were led into Principal Oak's office and saw that their friend Iris, who is currently the Champion of Unova, was waiting for them right there. She was in her casual ware outfit and not her fancy getup she wears as a Champion. "Iris!" Ash said, "What are you doing here in the Alola region?"
"I'm here because the capture of that vile girl Ayane who caught Reshiram made news in the various regions all over the world," Iris explained, "I came rushing over here pretty much the moment I confirmed it that she's still in custody here in Alola."
"Yeah, we can't exactly move her right now," Looker said, "So now, Champion Iris. What's this about Reshiram?"
"I'm here representing the cultural and political interest of the Unova region to demand that Reshiram's Poké Ball be handed over to me," Iris said, "So that I can take it back to Unova and release Reshiram back into the wild there."
"Wait, you're just demanding that Reshiram's ball be handed over to you?" Kenny asked.
Giving Kenny a serious look, Iris explained, "Reshiram is an important and highly revered figure in Unovan lore and history. Since the villainess who caught it had been taken into custody, Reshiram's ball can be taken from her and taken to Unova, where it can be released into the wild on Unovan soil. It'd be a major cultural win for the people of the Unova region to see one of Unova's major legendary Pokémon free from Team Scorn control and released back into the wild in its homeland." Looker then sucked in a bit of a cringing breath, wore an unsure look on his face. This did not escape Iris's attention. "...What happened?" Iris demanded in a dry tone.
"We... already released Reshiram into the wild here in Alola," Looker said, "We couldn't take the risk of waiting to transport things to Unova and doing them there as it'd give Team Scorn a chance to recover Reshiram's ball."
"You released Reshiram into the wild here in Alola?!" Iris practically screamed, "What is wrong with you?!"
"Hey Iris," Dawn said, "Looker has a point. Doing things immediately here in Alola, rather than wait until everything can be taken to Unova and doing them there, does lower the odds of Team Scorn being able to recover from losing Reshiram."
Iris growled a bit in frustration before she relented. "...Fine. Do any of you have any idea if Reshiram is still here in Alola?"
Holding up a finger, Looker said, "Actually, yes. We've confirmed that Reshiram hasn't left the Alola region yet. It was seen flying in the direction of a location that Kahuna Hala said is called Wela Volcano, and he presumes it's still there. My guess is that it's resting there."
Looking like she was being driven by a purpose, Iris said, "Or it's waiting for someone." Getting up from her seat, Iris declared while gesturing to herself, "And that someone is me! I'm heading to Wela Volcano right now!"
"Shouldn't you at least prep first?" Trip asked.
"I'm always prepped when it comes to working with dragon Pokémon," Iris said, right before leaving Principal Oak's office without another word. Ash and the reborn trainers couldn't help but worry for Iris, as she seemed as if she were rushing into things here without even thinking.
After school let out that day, the heroes and their classmates were wondering about Iris, as Ash and the reborn trainers filled the rest of their class in on things when they got back from seeing Iris in Principal Oak's office. To the surprise of the heroes and their classmates, they were met up by Looker after school ended for the day and all of them were about to leave their classroom and the school to go home. "Champion Iris is asking to see Ash, Champion Dawn, Kenny, and Trip again," Looker said, "She encountered Reshiram at Wela Volcano, but wasn't able to... do things as she had hoped."
This piqued the interest of the heroes, although only Ash and the reborn trainers went along as they were the only ones that Iris asked for. Eventually, they were led by Looker to the nearby Pokémon Center, where they ran into Iris who explained what had gone down when Ash asked what happened. Iris looked upset, yet resigned. "I found Reshiram at Wela Volcano," Iris said, "I tried speaking with it, convince it to return home to Unova now that it was free from Team Scorn's control." Iris's eyes got a bit watery. "Reshiram grew hostile towards me."
"Reshiram's not amused with you?" Trip asked.
Iris gently shook her head. "I was able to use my connection with dragons to learn why Reshiram had such displeasure. Apparently, Reshiram HATES Unova now, it even said it would rather go back into service under the girl in Team Scorn who had caught it then show any allegiance to Unova."
Hearing that got the attention of the heroes. "...So Reshiram would rather party back up with Ayane than play nice with the region it came from," Kenny began, "Despite how Ayane is a top name in Team Scorn." Looking to Iris, Kenny asked, "Did you at least get it with your dragon-speaking powers WHY Reshiram now isn't fond of the region it comes from?"
Iris, who was sitting down, looked down to her lap, clenched her hands as they laid there with the backs of her hands facing up. "...Reshiram is now well aware of the xenophobic slant Unova as a whole has been taking as of late. The discrimination and dislike towards foreigners prevalent in Unova, especially in regards to how things are run in the region's government, it all displeases Reshiram greatly. It said that it refuses to show any allegiance towards Unova while Unova refuses to show the same to anyone outside of Unova's borders."
Trip folded his arms over his chest, wore a wry look of amusement. "So even one of Unova's major legendary Pokémon is unhappy with how Unova is hating on those who aren't Unova born and raised. Go figure."
Dawn took a quick look around the main lobby of the Pokémon Center, before turning back to face Iris with a suspicious look on her face. "...Reshiram wiped your on-hand team in battle, didn't it?"
"Yes," Iris admitted right away, "I didn't even have the chance to ready a Poké Ball to throw at Reshiram, I was barely having time to issue orders to my Pokémon. I guess that I shouldn't be surprised that Reshiram refused to cooperate with me, I am a natural born Unovan citizen, was raised on Unovan soil, and now I'm a very big figure in Unovan society."
"I have a question," Kenny asked, "Did you get it why Reshiram even cooperated with Ayane in the first place? I mean, you'd figure that a Pokémon like Reshiram would be unwilling to take orders from someone who's clearly a bad guy, not to mention how Ayane did a sneak attack capture to catch it rather than confront it straight up and catch it fairly. Master Ball or not, one should still properly face a wild Pokémon in battle if they wanna catch it."
Iris let out a sigh. "...I did learn that, yes. Apparently, Reshiram has some personal code of honor that compels it to obey the trainer who caught it. Doesn't matter if the trainer is a villain, or if it wasn't caught in a fair straight up manner. If a trainer caught Reshiram, then Reshiram will listen." Looking to the heroes, Iris said, "Although I also got it that Reshiram doesn't have to like it if it was captured via less than honorable and straight up means."
Dawn let out a mildly annoyed sigh. "A personal code of honor that compels it to act a certain way. Great."
"And you earlier said that Reshiram would sooner go back to playing nice with Team Scorn than hear the word of a Unovan," Trip said to Iris, "Does this mean that Reshiram will be going back to Team Scorn?" The idea that a Pokémon of Reshiram's stature would willingly go back to following Team Scorn's word actually worried the heroes on a personal level.
Gently shaking her head, Iris said, "I got it from Reshiram that it'd sooner do that than show allegiance to Unova. I was also able to get it that there's a way to keep Reshiram from falling back into Team Scorn's hands, and more so use it against Team Scorn."
"How do we do that?" Ash asked.
Iris let out a sigh. "...I was able to get it from Reshiram that it finds Unovans unworthy, as well as members of Team Scorn although Reshiram still values them over Unovans. However, when I had asked Reshiram if there was a way that it would be willing to join the fight against Team Scorn, it did say something that had caught my attention. Reshiram said that, now that it is free, it wishes to test 'the girl who had earned and won over the allegiance of Palkia'." Turning to look at Dawn, Iris said, "I believe that Reshiram is talking about you, Dawn."
"Reshiram wants Dawn to seek it out?" Trip asked, looking surprised. It wasn't just him who was surprised; Ash, Kenny, and especially Dawn were surprised by what Iris had revealed as well.
Nodding once in the affirmative, Iris explained, "It would give efforts against Team Scorn more power. And I would certainly say that Dawn is a worthy trainer to work with Reshiram." Looking to Dawn again, Iris asked, "Do you think you can accept Reshiram's test?"
Dawn gave a single nod in the affirmative. "...I just need to prep first before I go accept Reshiram's test."
After the heroes got ready, they made their way to Wela Volcano. By Iris's word, Reshiram was waiting at the top, but urged the boys to hang back with her while Dawn goes in alone. The fact that Reshiram's test is for Dawn alone aside, Iris is worried her being seen, as she's a Unovan, would upset Reshiram. The same most likely will also apply to Trip as he's Unova born and raised, although now he's being raised in his adoptive region of Sinnoh. Dialga and Giratina landed along the side of where the Vast White Pokémon was waiting, while Palkia flew on in.
Ash and Trip got off of Dialga while Kenny and Iris got off of Giratina. They had landed at a rest stop area that led to a cave that eventually led to the area where Dawn could be confronting Reshiram at. "Hoo boy, I hope that Dawn can tame Reshiram," Kenny said.
"I'm certain she can do so," Iris replied, "She's proven strong enough that she can do so straight up rather than pull a sneak attack capture on it like what Ayane had done long ago."
Trip looked on, unable to help but worry about Dawn. "...You can do this, sis. Please do it." Trip couldn't help but feel weird referring to Dawn as his sister, and himself as a 'his'; they were siblings in their previous life, but back then Dawn was a boy and Trip was a girl. The laws of being isekai'd were weird, but that doesn't matter right now, given that Dawn was about to confront a legendary Pokémon comparable to many of the big ones that Dawn, Trip, and Kenny had between them. That'd probably explain why Dawn rotated all of her big legends, as well as Latios and Darkrai, into her party before coming here; she wanted to be ready for an ultimate challenge.
Ash nodded once in affirming things, if only for himself. "Dawn can do this. I know she can."
...
Dawn stood facing forward towards a cave on the far end of the area she had come to. By her side stood Tsukune, ready to attack when Dawn gave the cue. Around this time yesterday, Reshiram had gone on a rampage when Ayane's alias of Ochaco was busted by Mallow, Lana, and Lillie. And now, Reshiram is once again a wild Pokémon free to do as it wished. With said freedom, it was wanting to test Dawn to see if she was worthy of its allegiance, to help out with the fight against the very organization that it had once taken orders from.
"Reshiram!" Dawn called out, "I got it that you're here! I came here to challenge you!" A few moments after Dawn's loud call out, Reshiram could be heard roaring. A large white blur then rushed out from the cave on the far end of the area at the summit of Wela Volcano that Dawn landed at. Reshiram had come out in a blazing rush of splendor to greet its visitors. It saw Dawn standing there with only her named Palkia at her side, looking up at where Reshiram flew in place in the air. The legendary dragon Pokémon gave a roaring cry that resonated with sounds of approval...
...Right before it initiated battle by firing a Dragonbreath attack.
"Tsukune, counter with Flamethrower!" Dawn ordered. Tsukune fired its own breath weapon attack, and it collided with the Dragonbreath, making the two attacks blow up into one another. Reshiram rushed through the resulting mass cloud of smoke and tried striking at Tsukune with Slash, but the named Palkia leapt back to avoid the hit. Dawn was surprised to see Reshiram using Slash; it's primarily a special attacker, surely Ayane when she still had ownership of Reshiram saw that. Did Ayane simply not bother to do any training with Reshiram period? Did she not bother having Reshiram learn any new attacks after catching it?
After Tsukune landed back, Dawn called out, "Tsukune, use Surf!" Conjuring up a large wave of water, Tsukune cast it at Reshiram, pushing it back. A lot of the water washed over the entire area, and swamped over some exposed lava, hyper cooling it into solid rock as steam was let off. Reshiram then cast an Extrasensory attack at Tsukune, wracking its head with a psychic assault. As Tsukune recovered from that, Reshiram raised its head up to fire another Dragonbreath attack, but Tsukune was able to recover quickly from the Extrasensory assault.
"Tsukune, hit it with Power Gem!" Dawn called out. The named Palkia took aim at Reshiram and quickly fired a Power Gem attack at it, hitting Reshiram hard and making it stumble back, causing its Dragonbreath to fizzle out in the process. As Reshiram was still reeling, Dawn called out, "Tsukune, use Spacial Rend!" Acting quickly, the named Palkia conjured and cast its Spacial Rend attack, which when on to strike Reshiram directly, making it cry out in pain as it reeled back. After stumbling for a bit, Reshiram came back around and face forward to look at Dawn and Tsukune.
The Vast White Pokémon looked seriously at Dawn and Tsukune for a moment, then let out an accepting grumble of a roar before it, somewhat weakly due to exhaustion and damage from battle, knelt while bowing its head towards Dawn. Dawn took this as a sign that she had passed whatever test Reshiram was having her do. As such, she took out one of her spare Master Balls she got from the Poké Ball Factory in Kalos, expanded it, then tossed it at Reshiram while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!" The ultimate model of Poké Ball flew at Reshiram, bumped into it, took it inside, then landed on the ground with a light clink.
Dawn and Tsukune watched as the Master Ball worked its magic, shaking for a bit before it eventually made a ping sound, indicating that, for the second time, Reshiram had been captured, only this time Reshiram was NOT caught by a villainous team member. No, Reshiram was now on the side of a heroic trainer who fought against the villainous team Reshiram once had to fight for. Dawn let out a relieved sigh as she walked over to collect the Master Ball that held her newly caught Reshiram, who would now be a stalwart ally against Team Scorn.
After picking up Reshiram's (new) ball, Dawn scanned it with her Pokédex to learn its general bio; Reshiram was genderless, had a timid nature (which further made Dawn question why Ayane apparently had Reshiram keep Slash), and the Turboblaze ability. Dawn intended to work with Reshiram, unlike with what Ayane was doing in her time with Reshiram. Dawn worked with all of her legendary Pokémon, didn't rely on just the admittedly great power they came with upon capture; Dawn was not like the guy that she had named her Darkrai after.
Looking at the ball that held her now Reshiram, Dawn said, "I'm going to name you Ruby." The ball containing the now dubbed Ruby was sent to Oak's lab, and Dawn figured she ought to call Professor Oak in Kanto and let him know the finer details so that he doesn't freak. The incident of some of Dawn's female classmates triggering Ayane did make things known worldwide, meaning chances are that Professor Oak had heard what happened. Dawn decided that she'd breech this subject with Ash, Trip, Kenny, and Iris after she met up with them, which she proceeded to do by leaving the area she was in after calling back Tsukune.
"Yeah, I had named Reshiram Ruby," Dawn said as she, the boys, and Iris walked into the Pokémon Center where Iris's Pokémon were being treated, "It's a nickname from the same vein as Tsukune, Fangfang, and Kurumu."
"What bothers me is the fact that Ayane supposedly didn't bother actually training Reshiram back when it was still under her authority," Kenny said.
"What bothers ME is the fact that someone had a special attacking Pokémon with a timid nature keep a physical attack like Slash," Trip said, "Please tell me that you plan to correct that mistake when you get to training Ruby, Dawn."
Dawn nodded once in confirmation. "I'm also considering having Ruby pick up how to use Dragon Pulse, a more damaging alternative to Dragonbreath. I'm planning to have Ruby keep Fusion Flare, and Extrasensory is rather appealing to me as well. But yes, I totally plan to-"
Dawn was cut off when she and the others were met up by a rather panicked looking Looker. "Looker, what's wrong?" Ash asked.
"Team Scorn had just busted Ayane out of holding!" Looker exclaimed, "They also got back all of her other confiscated Pokémon! Please tell me that there's some good news that'll prevent Team Scorn from re-capturing Reshiram!"
"Team Scorn's second in command got away?!" Iris exclaimed, "But we barely got her caught yesterday!"
Looker had a frustrated look on his face. "...This is yet another reason why I'm upset with how those Mallow, Lana, and Lillie girls had acted recklessly. Their actions made Ayane's capture public knowledge, Team Scorn had plenty of time and chance to learn of how their boss's right hand woman was captured. She escaped holding, after her followers found and got back her other Pokémon, without us ever getting even one bit of intel out of her!"
"Are the officers and other folks at the police station alright?" Kenny asked.
"An older police chief three days from retirement was killed in the chaos," Looker said, drawing shocked looks from the heroes and Iris, "Eyewitness reports confirmed that the killer is an Admin ranked member of Team Scorn identified as Admin Mage, who apparently picked up a sofa in a waiting room by one of its ends and swung it at the police chief, hitting him in the head hard enough to kill him, although I think a foot of the sofa had struck the chief's head."
"He's the same monster who killed Clair's Druddigon!" Iris screamed vengefully, "Oh ho ho, when I get my hands on Mage, I'm going to-"
"Hang on," Kenny interrupted, then went on while addressing Looker, "Did you just say that Admin Mage picked up a sofa and swung it around to hit someone in the head? Hot damn, how friggin' strong is Admin Mage?!"
As Looker let out a tired breath, Dawn said, "...Well to answer your previous plea, we just got back from Wela Volcano where I caught Reshiram. It'll be rolling with me from this point moving forward."
Looker let out another breath, although this one was more akin to a relieved sigh. "...So in the end, all that we really got out of this was depriving Team Scorn of the legendary Pokémon that they had at their beck and call." To the heroes, Looker said, "Given that Ayane was exposed, she now that she had escaped is bound to refrain from making any public appearances, outside of wearing disguises that no-one will suspect. I also suspect that Ayane will become far more vengeful given how some of your classmates had exposed her and led to her being arrested and losing Reshiram."
"So Team Scorn is going to act up even more because they're sore losers," Iris translated as she folded her arms over her chest.
Turning to look at Iris, Ash said, "So what do you plan to do now, Iris?"
"I plan to find that lying cheater Ideku and confront him on how he had withheld the fact he caught Zekrom," Iris declared, "I got it that he's here in Alola. Ooh, this is just like how he withheld how he caught Enamorus until he busted it out in the Vertress Conference, only worse because it's Zekrom!"
Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn dryly said, "You know Iris, Ideku still has no obligation to make what Pokémon he caught public knowledge. Additionally, he's proven to firmly be on our side against Team Scorn, he's helped us fight them off on multiple occasions. I say that he can be trusted."
"Also," Kenny said, "The dude just found out that his girlfriend Ochaco was really Ayane wearing a disguise. He's devastated that his girlfriend not only had been lying to him this entire time about who she was, but that also she's a top ranking member of Team Scorn. The last thing that Ideku needs right now is for you to get all up in his face because you're really pissy that he had caught the Red-Eyes Black Dragon and didn't make it known until he used it against me in the Lumiose Conference."
Iris looked like she was about to argue, but a sharp glare from Ash made her relent. Turning to look at Dawn, Ash went on, "Anyway Dawn, I think that you catching Reshiram may be related to that one vision that Sabrina had, about a dragon that's unhappy with Unova. Reshiram is a dragon, and Iris here got it that Reshiram would rather of gone back to Team Scorn than saddle up with Unova. You catching Reshiram prevents either, so I guess all is well."
Dawn had a look of realization on her face. Ash did have a point; a lot of what surrounds Dawn capturing Reshiram does reflect well on what Sabrina had predicted about 'a dragon who hates Unova'. Regardless, the heroes now had another big name to bring to the table against Team Scorn, and what's more it was the same big name that Team Scorn was once bringing to that very same table. The idea of giving Team Scorn a taste of their own medicine sounded rather appealing, especially since Ayane is bound to be beyond pissed that her Ochaco alias had been foiled thus she'll be looking for revenge.
Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn wasn't mad. Oh no, she was only just a tiny little ittsy bitsy teenie weenie bit absolutely livid.
There were a few main points leading to Ayane's displeasure. Three of the friends of the heroes had somehow found out about how her Ochaco alias was just a cover she used to operate in the open, letting her compete in Showcases and Contests without exposing herself, and decided to boldly expose her in public where many people saw it and recorded things on their smartphones to upload to the web. There were already rulings from the Kalos Showcase Committee and Alola Contest Committee saying that what all awards she had earned were now ruled void, meaning her Princess Keys and Tiki Necklaces were functionally worthless.
Then there was how, after she was taken into custody, Reshiram was released back into the wild. Granted, the rest of Ayane's on-hand team of Pokémon were left alone and they were all recovered when she was rescued by Admin Mage leading a charge, but that wasn't until AFTER Reshiram was essentially taken away from Team Scorn, costing the organization a lot of the power that it was able to field against would-be heroes. The struggle that Team Scorn faced to get the ultimate end result that it wanted just got a hell of a lot more difficult, especially since there were reports that Reshiram was no longer at Wela Volcano where it was reported flying off to, and that Dawn Berlitz and some of her friends were seen flying to and from Wela Volcano earlier.
Ayane, hearing that part, guessed that the heroes had been able to capture Reshiram, and further guessed that it had been Dawn Berlitz herself who had caught the Vast White Pokémon. Ayane wanted to get revenge for what all had happened; her being exposed, her hard-earned accolades being ruled as voided, having Reshiram taken from her and released. But the loss of Reshiram, combined with how she had literally just been freed, told Ayane that she was in no position to take the revenge that she was hungrily craving right now. Ayane knew that right now, all she could do was bide her time. So bide her time she shall do.
She was sitting in an office set up for her at the Alolan Team Scorn base, wearing her new unique Team Scorn officer outfit; a dark blue hooded shawl with a large baggy hood that resembled a pointed wizard hat, a baggy yellow tunic (the sleeves reached her wrists) that reached about three quarters the way down her thighs and she wore a dark blue leather belt around her waist, dark blue stockings, yellow boots that reached halfway up her shins, and one dark blue leather glove on her right hand; Ayane had kept her left hand bare for some odd reason or another.
She also now carried a staff that curled up at the end, resembling a wizard's staff, and in the head of the staff was Ayane's Key Stone; her shiny Mawile still had its Mega Stone, so at the very least Ayane could still perform Mega Evolution. The Team Scorn insignia, a yellow heater shield with a dark blue Team Scorn 'S', was a patch on the side of her hood. Ayane's old unique Team Scorn outfit was damaged during the incident where her Ochaco alias was busted, also Ayane had been meaning to replace it anyway as she had based it off of the school uniform worn by Blackthorn City Academy students.
Ayane had originally modeled her unique Team Scorn officer outfit in that fashion for irony purposes, but by this point it had outlasted the point Ayane wanted to make. Ayane hated her old school, hated how they permitted her expulsion solely because a bully didn't like being stood up to by Ayane while said bully was picking on an autistic girl in front of Ayane's class and their rival class. Ayane did get a kick out of how, following her being outed as a Team Scorn higher up and her Ochaco alias being busted, Blackthorn City Academy came under fire when it got out Ayane was a former student.
It was obvious that the teachers didn't have time to prep all of their students in case any of them were interviewed, so as to tell them to avoid saying anything that could further make Blackthorn City Academy's reputation plummet. This is obvious because Amanda, the very same autistic girl who Ayane was expelled standing up for, had basically told interviewers that Ayane was expelled because she stood up to a teacher who was picking on Amanda herself due to her being autistic, and the teacher who was picking on Amanda didn't like being stood up to so she had Ayane expelled.
Blackthorn City Academy was now facing a political nightmare, and the show that came from it was giving Ayane a steady source of laughs. It was one of the few sources of amusement that Ayane had in light of recent events. It was as Ayane was watching another news report about the scandal that Blackthorn City Academy was now facing that she heard a knock on the door leading into her office. "Enter," Ayane called out, and a few seconds later Admin Mage and his Admin's Assistant Aya came walking in. "Report," Ayane said, knowing that Mage and Aya came here with information.
"We failed to find out how some of Dawn Berlitz's friends learned of your alias and busted it," Mage began, "At least so far. We're still trying to investigate the matter, and you will be the first person informed of what the answer is once we get the answer."
Ayane arched a wry eyebrow. "...Fair enough. I had figured that the heroes would keep their cards close to their chest."
"There's... one more thing," Mage added, a hint of being unsure of things (i.e. how Ayane will take it) in his tone, "We... were able to confirm that Reshiram had indeed been captured again, and by Dawn Berlitz herself."
Ayane scoffed bitterly. "Figures that it was her. I had a hunch." Although she still sounded plenty unamused, Ayane was nowhere near as upset as Mage and Aya had been expecting. "Well, it looks like I'll have to try and find another strong Pokémon that will let me throw my name into the ring with the likes of Dawn and others with powerful Pokémon of a level comparable to Reshiram."
"I... would advise that you lay low for a bit, ma'am," Aya said, "You did literally just escape custody, so it wouldn't be safe for you to directly take action so soon."
The Boss's Assistant of Team Scorn let out a mildly annoyed sigh. "I know. I was planning to lay low anyway, regardless of how much I want to get revenge on those three idiot girls who busted my Ochaco alias."
"You want that we should make them pay for you?" Aya asked.
To the surprise of Aya and Mage, Ayane gently shook her head in the negative. "We're still in some hot water because of how that idiot Zed's recklessness had indirectly caused great physical harm to a friend of Dawn Berlitz and her companions. If we go after those idiot girls directly, then Dawn and her fellows will be out for our blood, maybe quite literally, and this time they'll have Reshiram on their side. No, as much as I'd like to see those girls made to suffer for how they had ruined things for me, we have to leave the lot of them be. For now."
Mage and Aya both bowed their heads respectfully to Ayane before they were dismissed. However, Mage stopped short. "Ma'am," Mage said to Ayane, "What about the mission to Mount Lanakila that I'm going to have Captain James lead in a few days? Any changes to make to that mission in light of what had happened?"
"No, let it go on as is," Ayane replied, "I'm sure that Captain James, as well as his Captain's Assistant Jessie and their talking Meowth, will have no issues investigating claims of a cashe of Ice Stones found up on Mount Lanakila." Shrugging, Ayane said, "Barring Dawn Berlitz and her companions showing up there as well, there's nothing that I can foresee that could possibly throw James, his talking Meowth, and Jessie for a loop.
...
Meanwhile up on Mount Lanakila, two hikers bundled up for the cold snowy environment up there were hiking along when they stopped upon seeing a wild Alolan Sandshrew come scampering out into the open. It stopped when it sensed something, then turned to face the two hikers. They saw that the eyes of this wild Alolan Sandshrew were crossed, going in different directions. But its focus was still on the two of them. The wild Alolan Sandshrew then made a tongue click noise at the two hikers before scampering away.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-ONE
Author's notes;
This chapter covers the result of Reshiram being released back into the wild in Alola, which ended up leading to Dawn capturing it and, unlike with Ayane, Reshiram is a lot more willing to play on Team Dawn. Iris shows up due to Ayane's capture making inter-regional news as she assumes she can get Reshiram to Unova and release it there, but Reshiram was released in the wild in Alola before Iris got there. Iris after a disastrous encounter with Reshiram at Wela Volcano decided that it was for the best, and at least the heroes now have Reshiram on their side against Team Scorn.
Speaking of, Ayane is busted out of police custody by Admin Mage leading a charge, rendering moot a huge chunk of the effort that was given by the heroes, and before any intel could have been gotten out of Ayane too. At the hidden Team Scorn base, Ayane in a new unique Team Scorn officer outfit addresses some issues with Mage and Aya before letting them go, including a mission that Mage is gonna have James lead to Mount Lanakila, although James as well as Jessie and Meowth are unaware of how, at this point, most of Alola's population of wild Alolan Sandshrew had been educated in da wae. Things will continue in the next chapter, so until then take care.
