Chapter Two-hundred and twenty-two: Do you kno da wae, my bruddah?

The heroes and their classmates were back to the snowy area of Mount Lanakila on a class field trip. "Alright class," Kukui said, "Today we're doing a little field trip to study the Alolan Sandshrews again, only this time we're here to study them after their population had all shifted in behavior. We're here to see if we can find out what might have caused the change in their behavior to occur, something that researchers thus far have failed to do."

"Well it's a good thing that I brought some bruddahs along that could help," Kenny said, right before tossing up two Poké Balls while calling out, "Come on out, Elay and Silver!" Coming out from the balls were Elay the shiny Kantonian Sandslash and Silver the normally colored Alolan Sandshrew. Both of them had the same crossed eye expression as one another, and upon coming out they proceeded to make a series of tongue clicking noises.

Pointing right at Elay, Dawn with the driest of looks said in a likewise tone, "There's the answer right there, Kukui-sensei. That's the cause of the shift in-"

"Ash? Dawn? Is that you guys and your class at trainer school?"

Dawn was cut off when she and the others heard the familiar voice of May from Hoenn. Sure enough, May dressed for the cold climate came walking up to the group, followed by her little brother Max who wore an ice blue super puffy jacket, ice blue super puffy cold climate pants, mittens, boots, a scarf, and a cold climate cap, all of which was also ice blue. All in all, Max looked significantly rounder than when he did the last time any of the heroes saw him.

"Holy crap, May!" Kenny said while pointing at Max, "I knew that your little brother had to gain weight, but this is way too extreme! He looks like a super fat blubber ball!"

"It's the poofy jacket and pants that makes Max look so round," May explained, "He's still rather thin."

"Ah, you're one of Serena's rivals in the Contest scene," Kukui said, "What brings you here?"

"Training for the next contest at the Melemele Contest hall," May explained, "It... sort of relates to how that Ochaco girl turned out to have been a high ranking member of Team Scorn. Given she had entered Alolan Contests under a false identity, all awards she had earned had been rendered void, meaning Contests are going to be held to re-award those Tiki Necklaces, although new ones had to be made as the original ones can't be recovered as Ochaco, or as she turned out to be Ayane, presumably still has the originals."

Serena nodded once in understanding. "Yes, I intend to make up for falling behind so mu-"

Serena was cut off when Kukui held a hand out to her in a gesture to get her to zip it. He then pointed to a pair of wild Alolan Sandshrews who scampered out from some bushes. Much like Elay and Silver, the two wild Alolan Sandshrews had the crossed eyed expression. "Now's our chance to study them in the wild, children," said Kukui in a quiet tone, "Don't go scaring them o-"

"SHREWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" the two wild Alolan Sandshrew cried out in excitement, which sounded happy enough, as they scampered over to Max, picked him up, and scampered away from him, his super wide and round form while wearing that puffy jacket and pants combo making it too hard for him to escape.

"Those wild Alolan Sandshrews are kidnapping May's super fat little brother!" Lana exclaimed.

"It's the jacket and pants!" May said as she ran after the wild Alolan Sandshrews who were kidnapping Max, "Max is still thin!" As May ran off into the distance, May could be heard screaming, "But that's not important, because I need to rescue my little brother!" Seeing that there was an emergency, Kukui said that they could put the field trip to study the changes in the behavior of the wild Alolan Sandshrew on hold, given that two of them had just kidnapped a kid for some odd reason.

...

Elsewhere in that area, James was leading a troop of Team Scorn grunts, all of them outfitted for the older climate of the area of Mount Lanakila that they were at. Standing with him were Jessie and Meowth. "So word is that a cashe of Ice Stones was supposedly spotted in this area," Meowth began.

Nodding once in the affirmative, James said, "Yes. They're evolutionary stones used to evolve various ice type Pokémon. We just find those Ice Stones, grab as many as we can carry back, and the mission is a success."

"Hmph," Jessie said, "Even an idiot like that Zed idiot couldn't possibly screw up so simple a mission. I presume that Team Scorn will be selling the Ice Stones in the black market?"

James was about to speak up, but he was cut off before getting one syllable out when a male Scorn grunt came up to him. "Captain James, a trio of wild Alolan Sandshrew were found nearby," the grunt said, "They have an Ice Stone with them, it's laying on the ground and they're taking turns sniffing at it from the looks of things."

"Ooh, maybe those wild Alolan Sandshrews got that Ice Stone from the rumored cashe," Meowth said. Looking up at James, Meowth said, "Hey James, you ought to let me speak with those wild Alolan Sandshrews and ask them about the Ice Stone with them. We may be able to find the cashe if that single Ice Stone came from it!"

James nodded in agreement. "It's a good idea, Meowth. I say go for it." The Team Scorn trio then had the Scorn grunt lead them to where the wild Alolan Sandshrews had the Ice Stone at. The backs of the wild Alolan Sandshrews were all to Team Scorn when they came upon them.

Walking on in, Meowth said, "Just let me work my magic, guys." Meowth soon got within easy speaking distance of the wild Alolan Sandshrews. "Excuse me, my good fellows," Meowth spoke up, "But I got it that you three have an Ice Sto-" Meowth stopped short when the trio of Alolan Sandshrews all turned to face him, but that in itself wasn't why Meowth stopped mid-sentence. Meowth stopped mid-sentence as he wore a look of shocked horror on his face, as did James and Jessie when they saw the faces of the wild Alolan Sandshrews. James, Meowth, and Jessie were so shocked by what they saw that the shock temporarily made them look like characters from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

But then again, the three wild Alolan Sandshrews all had the same cross-eyed expression as Elay the shiny Kantonian Sandslash. "Sandshrew shrew Sandshrew?" asked the first wild Alolan Sandshrew.

"...Oh no..." Meowth said in a horrified tone as he backed up, "...Oh no no no no NO! This can't be happening! This just plain and simple cannot be happening!"

"Sandshrew shrew Sandshrew Sand Sandshrew?" asked the second wild Alolan Sandshrew.

"The idiot Sinnoh boy twerp's annoying shiny Sandslash," Jessie said, "It must have somehow made contact with the wild Alolan Sandshrew and infected them with its cringy chaotic stupidity!" The third wild Alolan Sandshrew didn't say anything, but rather it proceeded to make a series of tongue clicks.

To the male Scorn grunt with him and the others, James said, "Go in there, grab the Ice Stone, then meet us and the rest of the troop! We're getting out of here!"

The male Scorn grunt looked confused. "...Uhh, sir? I'm pretty sure that the odd behavior displayed by the wild Alolan Sandshrews here is nothing to-"

"Ah! Help me!"

The male Scorn grunt was cut off when he and the others heard a young male voice cry out, making them them all turn to see a pair of wild Alolan Sandshrew, both of which having the same cross-eyed expression as Elay, running through the area with what looked to be a super obese younger boy on their backs. The two wild Alolan Sandshrews were making cries of glee as they ran past the area, which caught the attention of the trio with the Ice Stone. The trio ran to join the pair and help them carry away their kidnapping victim, leaving the Ice Stone exposed.

The male Grunt ran in and, after securing the Ice Stone, he, James, Meowth, Jessie, and the rest of Team Scorn in that area all ran in one direction, in such a way that May who was running after the wild Alolan Sandshrews who kidnapped her little brother Max never saw Team Scorn.

As the Team Scorn members fled, James said, "Hey Meowth, did you get what those wild Alolan Sandshrews infected with stupidity were saying?"

"They said they found their... their queen," Meowth said, looking confused, "And that they were bringing her back to their den to worship her. They also plan to present their queen with the treasure of their people, that being a huge pile of stones identical to the Ice Stone we got."

Jessie came to a screeching halt, making the rest of the group come to a halt as well. "A huge pile of Ice Stones?!" Jessie said, "That could be the chance to score a major success on this mission!"

"...You do understand the risks, right?" James said, "I mean, those wild Alolan Sandshrews-"

"I know, I know," Jessie said, "We're going to have to lure them out of their den, keep them out long enough for some of us to sneak in and grab as many Ice Stone as we can carry away, then hightail it out of there."

James turned around and did a quick headcount of all of the Scorn grunts with him. "Alright, there's a total of fourteen human members here, counting myself and Jessie," James said, "We can manage something by having a portion of our group lure the wild Alolan Sandshrews out for long enough to let another portion go in and collect as many Ice Stones as they can carry away. Once you fill up our bags with Ice Stones, get out, let us know you got the loot, then the lot of us will bail from this snowy nightmarish hellscape!"

Pointing at James, a slender female Scorn grunt said, "You, your talking Meowth, and Captain's Assistant Jessie are really freaked by how the wild Alolan Sandshrew are behaving, aren't you Captain James?"

Gently shaking his head, James replied, "Oh you sweet, naive child you. You have no idea of the horrors that Jessie, Meowth, and I had experienced in the past because of a certain stupid shiny Sandslash." James then led the troop with him to go seek out the path the wild Alolan Sandshrew were taking that super obese younger boy that they apparently had kidnapped.

...

Inside of a cold and icy den, the wild Alolan Sandshrew that were carrying Max tossed him gently into a big pile of snow. Max was able to right himself up, but the angle he laid in while laying on the snow pile, coupled with the round form his super puffy jacket and super puffy pants gave him, made it pretty much impossible for him to get up. He was, however, able to lift his head to see that the wild Alolan Sandshrews who kidnapped him were joined by many others of their kind, and all of them had the same cross-eyed expression as Elay the shiny Kantonian Sandslash.

Max looked on in confusion at the many wild Alolan Sandshrew who kidnapped him. "W-What do you all want with me?" Max asked.

Some of the wild Alolan Sandshrews proceeded to carry items over to where Max laid immobile in the snow pile, and piled the items up at Max's side. He was able to see that they were piling up a collection of Ice Stones. After the piling up of Ice Stones was finished, one of the wild Alolan Sandshrews picked up an Ice Stone and pressed it into the belly area of Max's super puffy jacket before backing off. The Ice Stone merely rose up on the puffiness, and all of the wild Alolan Sandshrews simply looked on as if they were waiting for something to happen.

Max was growing less scared but more confused, and it was around that time that May ran into the den, followed by Ash, Serena, and the reborn trainers. "Max!" May cried out, "Are you okay?!"

"I have no idea what's going on!" Max cried back.

The wild Alolan Sandshrews all turned to look at the heroes who arrived, with one of the wild Alolan Sandshrews saying something in Pokémon-talk. "The Sandshrew is saying that we have interrupted the beautification of their newly found queen," Rotom Dex said as it popped out, "Who they are trying to evolve into a Sandslash so that she may lead them, hence the pile of Ice Stone next to May's brother. They also plan to sniff their queen as they claim she smells pretty."

"The wild Alolan Sandshrews..." Trip said, "...Think that May's little brother is an Alolan Sandshrew as well. They also think that Max is a girl."

Gesturing to were Max laid immobile, Kenny said, "Well his winter ware outfit is ice blue and makes him look super round. They probably just mistook him for a bigger than normal member of their species."

"They..." May said, a dry look of disbelief on her face, "...Want to make my... little brother... their queen." Gently shaking her head, May said, "Maybe I should have picked out a different winter ware outfit for Max."

"Gee, ya think?" Max cried from where he laid, "This outfit not only makes me look really fat, but because of the ice blue coloration it made a whole bunch of Alolan Sandshrews think I was one of them so they kidnapped me with the idea of making me their queen despite how I'm a boy! Why couldn't you have just agreed to let me get the outfit that I had found?"

"I wanted to make sure you kept warm!" May said, "I wasn't sure if the outfit you found would have kept you warm enough!"

"This outfit is near impossible for me to move around in!" Max said, "And it drew fat jokes out of some of Ash's classmates!"

Kenny looked a bit sheepish. "Umm, yeah, sorry about what I said earlier, Max. I'll also get Lana to apologize about what she said as well."

"Look, we just need to get the Sandshrews away from Max so we can go in and get him," Dawn said.

"I don't think they'll let us," Rotom Dex said, "They seem quite insistent on protecting who they think is a really big female of their species."

Shrugging, Trip said, "Maybe if we prove to them that Max isn't one of them, they'll let us take him back?"

"How do we do it though?" May asked.

"How about I take off my jacket and warm pants?" Max said, "I'm wearing my normal outfit on underneath so I'll still have something on."

Looking to where Max was laying, Dawn asked, "Can you get up?"

Max tried getting up, struggling for a bit like a person who actually is super fat would struggle to getup from such a position, before falling back. "No, this outfit May had me wear to keep me warm is too encumbering to let me get up on my own!"

Reaching for one of the Poké Balls that contained one of her on hand Pokémon, Dawn said, "Hang on Max, I'll call out Lincoln and have him use Psychic to lift you back up to your feet and hey where did the pile of Ice Stones next to you go?" Dawn deviated mid-sentence when she saw that the pile of Ice Stones that was next to Max was now totally gone, although the Ice Stone laying on top of Max was still there.

...

While everyone inside of the den was distracted, Meowth was able to sneak in after spotting the pile of Ice Stones, load them all into a duffel bag, then haul the load out. The only Ice Stone that Meowth didn't take was the one he saw laying on Max, but that's only because Meowth didn't wanna risk getting caught. After coming out with the loot, he met up with James, Jessie, and the whole of their troop; the only humans in the area were Ash, Serena, May, Max, Dawn, Trip, and Kenny as the rest of the class from the trainer school hadn't caught up yet.

But they only needed to make off with as many Ice Stones as possible to succeed in their mission. They had a big duffel bag full, so that was success enough. Not wanting to push things, Team Scorn ran for the hills with their pilfered profits.

...

By the time the rest of the classmates and Kukui had caught up, the heroes and May were able to rescue Max by proving to the wild Alolan Sandshrews that Max wasn't one of them. As apology for the mistake, they let Max keep the Ice Stone that they tried to use to evolve him. Also, when the rest of the classmates and Kukui caught up, Max was out of his super puffy jacket and super puffy pants, and they did indeed see that Max really was still rather on the thin side. "I don't care if the cold makes me sick, I am not putting that jacket and those pants on ever again," Max declared flatly, looking done with everything.

"Well it's a good thing I came prepared," Kukui said as he took out a baggy hoodie and pair of sweatpants from the bag he had over his back and tossed them both to Max. Both were a bit big for Max, but neither were puffy, and the outfit didn't make him look fat.

After Max had the outfit on, Kenny said, "Hey Dawn, don't you still have a few extra Ice Stones? Because I finished Silver's training and I'm ready to evolve him, but I need an Ice Stone for tha-"

Kenny was cut off when Max handed him the Ice Stone he got from the Alolan Sandshrews. "You can have mine," Max said, his tone of voice making him sound like he was just plain done with everything, "I don't want this reminder of how I had been mistaken for a fat female Alolan Sandshrew and kidnapped by a bunch of other Alolan Sandshrews who wanted to evolve me to serve as their queen."

Kenny, after apologizing again for his earlier comment, graciously accepted the Ice Stone from Max before Kukui decided to call it a day and take the field trip back to the trainer school. May similarly said she was heading back as well, saying she feels bad for how her wanting Max to be super bundled up got him kidnapped by a bunch of wild Alolan Sandshrews looking for a queen. The heroes and their classmates still did not know what to make of the pile of Ice Stones that had disappeared, but there was nothing else amiss, so all in all it was best to just call it a day here.

It was nighttime, with the moon shining brightly above, when the reborn trainers and Ash were in Serena's backyard, watching her practice for the upcoming Contests to redistribute the Tiki Necklaces that were originally awarded to 'Ochaco' but were rendered void when it turned out she was Boss's Assistant Ayane of Team Scorn. "Wow, Serena's really going at it," Trip remarked.

"Well given she has a chance to earn the Tiki Necklaces that were originally won by Ayane, it's only natural that Serena pushes herself as much as she can," Dawn said, "Although I will admit, she ought to call it a night."

Kenny nodded in agreement with Dawn, before turning to look at Ash. "Yo Ash," Kenny began, "What say you on the-" Kenny stopped short when he noticed that Ash was looking at something; Ash as well as Pikachu were looking at Ash's Poipole, who was looking up at the moon. Dawn's Poipole, curious about its fellow, floated over to see what it was doing. It looked up at the moon, then to the other Poipole and saw it had a look of nostalgic longing on its face, then turned to look back up at the moon again. After a moment, Dawn's Poipole gave a dismissive shrug before turning around floating right over to Dawn, and snuggling right up to her.

Dawn, as she caught Poipole in her arms and held it, looked over to Ash's Poipole and saw what it was doing. "...I wonder what's on the mind of Ash's Poipole," Dawn remarked before she turned back to look at Serena's training.

...

The following morning at the trainer school, the heroes and their classmates went out onto the field for some physical education, only to see a large stack item that the reborn trainers recognized as a dormant Stakataka, one of the Ultra Beasts. "It it one of those stack things we have to jump over?" Lana asked.

"...I don't think any of us should go near it," Dawn said, getting everyone else's attention, "At least until we know for certain what it-"

Dawn was cut off when the bell was rung furiously by Komala, and Kukui came running out. "There's a new Ultra Guardian emergency, kids!" Kukui said, "All of you aside from Mallow, Lana, and Lillie who are still on probation, get to base for the briefing!"

"I still can't believe that we've been suspended from the Ultra Guardians until Lillie's mom finishes having all of the damage in the Melemele Market square fixed," Lana said in a tone of complaint as she and Mallow folded their arms over their chests. Kukui gave the three girls a brief scolding as the rest of the class went to the base under the classroom.

...

"Wait, so that big stack thing out on the field at school here is an Ultra Beast?" Serena said as she and the others looked up at the monitor as Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet were on screen.

Nodding in the affirmative, Lusamine said, "Yes, and luckily for us it's the least active one yet. It's been designated as Stakataka, and thus far from what we can tell, it has done absolutely nothing since arriving into our world from the Ultra Wormhole. Just capture it and hold onto in until the ladies here and I can meet you at the school so we can open the Ultra Wormhole and send it back home."

Nodding once in understanding, Ash said, "Got it. Should be easy enough to manage, even with Mallow, Lana, and Lillie temporarily suspended from the Ultra Guardians."

Lusamine nodded once in agreement. "Yes, and I'm still rather disappointed in how their actions had resulted in so much damage, although it's a blessing that no-one had been killed and that we were able to deprive Team Scorn of a lot of the power they're able to field. Also, I... am not much of one to bust the girls' chops for carrying out reckless actions that cause great danger, I had acted similarly myself." The Ultra Guardians were then dismissed to go carry out their mission.

...

Back at the field at the trainer school, the Ultra Guardians, with Mallow, Lana, and Lillie all watching from a window in the classroom, went up to Stakataka. Kiawe tried lobbing a Beast Ball at it, but Stakataka shifted its pieces around to avoid the projectile. "Let's try weakening it first," Sophocles suggested, "Although with three of our members suspended from duty, we're a bit short handed. As such, it may take a while to-"

"Kurumu use Earthquake," Dawn said as she sent out her named Groudon, who Primal Reversed after coming out, then unleashed a massive quake that struck Stakataka with seismic waves; it couldn't avoid by shifting its parts as the attack shook the very ground under Stakataka, and it had to keep itself standing on the ground meaning it got hit by Earthquake. It fell over onto the ground, having been defeated. Ash took the chance to catch it with a Beast Ball, which ended up working. With the battle now done, Kurumu's Primal Reversion became undone, and Dawn recalled Kurumu.

A short while later, Lusamine showed up with Wicke and Burnet, and after the device was used to open the Ultra Wormhole, Stakataka was released back into Ultra Space. It actually seemed quite happy that it was going home, so it made farewell noises to the humans before it turned around and went into the Ultra Wormhole, thus going back home. "Well that was incredibly easy," Kiawe said as he dusted his hands.

"I think we set a new record," Kenny remarked, "This calls for a party!" The rest of the heroes all agreed, and soon a party was prepared and enjoyed by everyone, even the girls suspended from the Ultra Guardians for the time being.

The next day at trainer school, the classmates were all talking among themselves. "I'm a bit peckish as my mom overslept and didn't get breakfast ready," Sophocles said.

"Funny that," Ash said, "Professors Kukui and Burnet were both acting lethargic and lazy this morning."

"Me and Dawn's mom also slept the entire morning," Trip remarked, "But as she literally just got out of the hospital due to being judged well enough, it's for the best she gets as much rest as possible." Dawn nodded in agreement. The rest of the class also share stories of how adults in their families were tired, right before Kukui came into the room all tired and lazy.

"Hey class." Kukui said as he let out a yawn, "I was gonna... talk about the Manalo Festival... but Imma just go take a nap in Principal Oak's office instead."

After Kukui lazily turned around and left, the heroes and their classmates all looked confused and mildly worried. Kiawe decided to take charge and explain to his peers what the Manalo Festival was all about. "It's a festival that occurs once every twenty-one years," Kiawe said, "In celebration of a solar eclipse that occurs once every twenty-one years. The festival goes back ages, and this upcoming Manalo Festival is expected to be the two-hundredth and twenty-second one."

Dawn looked like she was quickly doing math in her head. "...So the first Manalo Festival was around four-thousand six-hundred and sixty-two years ago."

"Well before the founding of the festival," Lillie said while looking at Kiawe with a dry monotone expression, "And the major cultural development of Alola."

Sighing, Kiawe said, "Alright I admit it, I made that part up to make things sound cooler."

Gently shaking her head, Lillie asked, "Could you at least explain about the legendary Pokémon described in the myth?"

"Ah, you mean the Blinding One," Kiawe said.

"Wait, I got it that Kenny referred to his Machamp as the Blinding One," Sophocles said.

Shrugging, Kenny said, "Well Zarbon blinded Cell that one time due to being seen in the shower, so..."

"Oh!" Rotom Dex said as it popped out, "Ash's Poipole drew a picture of the Blinding One!" Rotom Dex had taken a picture of it, and showed the picture to everyone.

Lillie nodded once. "Yes,I remember bits of a story about the Blinding One that my mom told me."

"Then spin the tale for us, oh keeper of lore," Kenny said.

Nodding once again, Lillie said, "Very well. A long time ago, the Blinding One appeared in our world and filled it with overflowing light. This light which was filled with a mysterious power led to the birth of the Alola region. But the Blinding One depleted its light in its efforts, causing it to turn black and enter a very long slumber. The emissaries of the sun and moon then showed up and shared some of their light with the Blinding One, allowing it to wake back up and shine again, before flying off into the ends of the sky."

Folding his arms over his chest, Trip said, "I'm willing to bet that these 'emissaries of the sun and moon' are Solgaleo and that moon bat thing." Trip knew that it was called Lunala, but its name wasn't brought up yet here so he had to pretend to remain ignorant. "And as for the 'ends of the sky', I'm thinking that it might be the other side of an Ultra Wormhole." The rest of the class looked on in mild wondering, up until the bell rang for lunch. When Sophocles said that he was hungry, Kenny made a comment under his breath about Sophocles stuffing food into his Ultra Wormhole.

...

Later after school, there were more weird things happening; Z-Moves were failing to charge up although the reborn heroes tested things and saw that Mega Evolution worked just fine. They looked up at the dark clouds forming above, and Ash's Poipole drew a Prism Star. Elsewhere, Gladion noticed his Silvally acting frightened, and even Paul over where he and Reggie were at realized something was up when it wasn't just Reggie alone acting tired and lethargic, but a good number of adults in the area that he and Reggie were in at the time.

The next morning at trainer school, Komala rang the bell for the Ultra Guardians, and Ash had to get things going as Kukui wasn't there. Kiawe said that Mallow, Lana, and Lillie despite all of them still being suspended from Ultra guardian duties ought to come along as something was obviously going on and everyone had to stick close together for safety reasons. When the classmates were greeted by a rather tired looking Lusamine on the monitor and Kiawe explained the situation, Lusamine agreed that it was for the best and, until the crisis had passed, Mallow, Lana, and Lillie would have their suspension suspended.

"Head to the... Altar of the Sunne..." Lusamine said in a tired tone, highlighting her tired and unkempt appearance, "I'll... meet you there for further... instructions."

"Mom, you really ought to take better care of your appearance," Lillie admonished.

"Lillie, your mom is obviously being affected by the same bad mojo that's screwing with most every other adult we know here in Alola," Kenny said, "Cut her some damn slack why don't you."

Dawn had a suspicious look on her face. "...I get the feeling something big's about to go down. Those who can do so, rotate your on-hand teams to prep for as big of an encounter as possible."

"Sounds fair," Trip said, and as soon as Ash and the reborn trainers were all done prepping, the heroes took off to the Altar of the Sunne.

At the Altar of the Sunne later, the heroes had all shown up and were greeted by Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet. Before Lillie could ask what was going on, a Ride Noivern showed up and landed, and off of it came Gladion wearing an Ultra Guardian uniform. "Mom had me join the Ultra Guardians," Gladion said, "Anyway, Silvally was acting frightened earlier, so I feel that there might b-" Gladion stopped short when he spotted the two Poipoles floating next to Ash and Dawn. "...Those two things are Ultra Beasts, aren't they?" Gladion asked.

"Yeah, we confirmed that the Poipoles are Ultra Beasts," Ash replied; Ash's Poipole gave a friendly and excited cry of greeting to Gladion while Dawn's Poipole got scared and buried its face into Dawn's chest to try and hide from Gladion.

Stepping forward, Burnet said, "Anyway kids, here's the mission. Our readings at base tell us that Ultra Aura in Alola has been decreasing, which might explain why adults are getting tired and lethargic. A small Ultra Wormhole had appeared here and we believe it's sucking in Ultra Aura."

"Is it possible that this is the work of an Ultra Beast?" Gladion asked.

Shrugging tiredly, Lusamine said, "It might be possible, especially if the Ultra Wormhole gets bigger."

"Kids and Pokémon aren't affected by this wave of lethargy, although we don't know why," Burnet said, "Regar-*yawn*-dless, you kids have all the more reason to stop what's going on. We'd be able to find the Ultra Wormhole, but the dark clouds above are blocking things for us."

"We have a *yawn* machine that can disperse the clouds," Wicke said, "And it can be powered with Z-Moves."

"Problem with that," Kiawe said, "Ash and I tried performing Z-Moves yesterday and they fizzled out."

Wicke tiredly nodded once in understanding. "That's because Z-Moves are linked to Ultra Aura as well. But I believe that all of you who have Z-Rings, were you to all use Z-Moves all at once, can still provide enough power to power up the machine." Nodding ocne in understanding, everyone present who had a Z-Ring performed Z-Moves, sending what power they were able to will up to the machine. It worked, and the machine fired up to blow the clouds away.

As Burnet got to work trying to find the Ultra wormhole, Lusamine said to the ultra Guardians, "Come. There's a recently discovered ruins that you kids must see." The heroes and their classmates then proceeded to follow Lusamine to the ruins she spoke of, wondering what all was awaiting them on this latest Ultra Guardians mission.

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-TWO

Author's notes;

This chapter sees the class go to Mount Lanakila where they meet May and Max, the later being bundled up to the point he looked like an Alolan Sandshrew and because of that was kidnapped by a bunch of wild Alolan Sandshrew influenced by Elay, with said Sandshrew wanting Max to be their queen. Max was let go when the mistake was pointed out. Then the Stakataka mission is covered and cleared in record time, even with Mallow, Lana, and Lillie temporarily suspended from the ultra Guardians for their actions in screwing with Looker's mission.

After that is the beginning of some crazy stuff where dark clouds above drain adults of their energy and motivation. The heroes and their peers are soon called upon to fix things and, after some party rotation as there's a feeling a big battle's coming, the heroes go to the Altar of the Sunne where they help to blow away some clouds in the sky before Lusamine leads them to some recently discovered ruins. This exciting adventure will be continued in the next chapter, where some visitors will show up to justify party prep. Until then, take care.
