Chapter Two-hundred and twenty-three: Necrozma's Zero Light Project

A tired Lusamine led the heroes, their classmates, and Gladion into the newly discovered ruins in the Altar of the Sunne. Inside, they saw a mural depicting the Blinding One, Solgaleo, Lunala, a good number of trainers and their Pokémon using Z-Moves, and the symbol Ash recognized that his Poipole had drawn. "The text here on the mural," Lusamine tiredly said, "I believe it holds more information about the legend."

Ash was about to speak up, but the Ultra Guardian uniforms' bracelets went off with making noise, alerting them to something happening. "There's something going on outside," Ash said as he and the others all ran back out of the ruins.

...

Outside, the heroes, their classmates, Gladion, and Lusamine all looked up as they spotted an Ultra Wormhole that was getting bigger. "Yeah, we found the Ultra Wormhole," Burnet said, seeming a bit more pepped up but still fairly lethargic, seemingly being spurred on by the excitement of the moment, "But it's getting bigger and bigger by the moment!"

Looking up, the heroes saw the Ultra Wormhole fully open up in front of the moon. Gladion sent out Silvally, who was still acting frightened. Before anyone could ask what was scaring Silvally so much, Lunala came flying out of the Ultra Wormhole, followed by crackling bolts of black energy as Necrozma came out of the same Ultra Wormhole that Lunala came flying out of. Lunala flew around to avoid Necrozma, although when they passed by one another the heroes observed Necrozma draining some Ultra Aura from Lunala.

"That black prism thing must be responsible for draining Alola of its Ultra Aura!" Lana exclaimed, right before Lunala and Necrozma flew off in the direction of Melemele Island.

"Get on your Ride Pokémon and go after them!" Lusamine said, "Those are the legendary Pokémon Lunala and Necrozma! Them both being here means that something's up, and that can't be good!"

The heroes aside from the reborn trainers got on Ride Pokémon while the reborn trainers got onto some of their respective legendary Pokémon. The lot of the classmates took up into the air and sped off in hot pursuit of Lunala and Necrozma.

...

Over on Melemele Island, Lunala continues to evade Necrozma, only getting some distance when Tapu Koko showed up and distracted Necrozma by hitting it with Dazzling Gleam. Necrozma, after brushing Tapu Koko's efforts aside, fired a Psycho Cut at Lunala, who retaliated by firing a Moongeist Beam. Necrozma pushed through and tried to fire another Psycho Cut, but stopped short when a Spacial Rend and a Fusion Flare blasted it in the back, making it stop bothering Lunala and turn to see that humans riding Pokémon have shown up.

Specifically, Dawn was riding on Tsukune's back as Ruby flew next to them. "Tsukune, use Spacial Rend again!" Dawn said, "Ruby, use Fusion Flare! Keep hitting Necrozma!"

The two attacks hit Necrozma again, but it was clearly getting angry, causing it to fire a Prismatic Laser at the heroes, which caused Lillie to fall off of her Ride Altaria. Luckily for her, she was caught by Black as Kenny while riding Shenron sent Black out to catch Lillie. Necrozma was distracted just long enough for Lunala to hit it in the back with Phantom Force, scoring a decent blow.

Necrozma cried out and turned to face Lunala, showing its back to the heroes. "Hmm?" Ash said as he got a good look at Lunala's back, "That star symbol that Poipole drew is on Necrozma's back!" Ash's Poipole which was out was looking on at the symbol on Necrozma's back, as if transfixed by it.

"Maybe it's connected to the legend of the Blinding One?" Lillie said.

As the heroes wondered, Necrozma unleashed a barrage of Prismatic Laser, distracting everyone and giving it the cover to jump Lunala and merge with it, becoming Dawn Wings Necrozma in the process. "Necrozma performed the Fusion Dance with Lunala!" Kenny exclaimed, "It has to be the Fusion Dance, as I didn't see either of them wearing Potara Earrings!"

Tossing up a Master Ball, Dawn said, "Go, Zyuoh! Blast right into Necrozma with Sunsteel Strike!" Dawn's named Solgaleo came out with a roar, then went into Sunsteel Strike and barreled right into Dawn Wings Necrozma, blasting it hard enough to make Necrozma fall away from Lunala thus freeing Lunala from Necrozma's control.

The weakened Lunala fell onto the beach, and the heroes all rushed to where it landed. As they gathered around Lunala, Necrozma suddenly rushed in, jumped Zyuoh, merged with it to become Dusk Mane Necrozma, open up an Ultra Wormhole, then flee before it could have been pursued. "Hey!" Dawn snapped, "Necrozma possessed Zyuoh and kidnapped it!" A few moments later, Aether Foundation employees showed up to help transport Lunala back to the Ultra Guardian's base under the trainer school. From seeing the adults acting normal, the heroes all assumed that things were starting to be on the mend.

"We will need to go after Necrozma eventually," Lusamine who was more pepped up and had fixed her hair said, "We have no idea what it's up to."

"That, and it force performed the Fusion Dance with Dawn's Solgaleo and kidnapped it," Kenny pointed out. The heroes all nodded in agreement as they all reconvened at the Ultra Guardian base.

...

At the Ultra Guardian base, after Lunala finished being treated and was resting, Lusamine said the the Ultra Guardians, "There's very little information available about Necrozma. Up until this point, we've only called it UB Black, although we're not sure it Necrozma on its own is an Ultra Beast."

"...Necrozma..." Ash said, getting the attention of the others.

"What about it, Ash?" Serena asked.

Looking to everyone else, Ash said, "There was an image of it on the mural at the Altar of the Sunne. There's also that symbol on Necrozma's back, the same symbol that Poipole drew."

Turning to look at Ash's Poipole, Rotom Dex asked, "Why did you draw that symbol, by the way?" Ash's Poipole tried to explain, but no one could understand what it was saying.

"Ultra Guardians," Lusamine said, "You all will have to watch Lunala while Wicke, Burnet, and I go plan the next course of action." They nodded in understanding as they watched Lusamine take off with the other adults, leaving them be.

...

At sunrise the following morning, as the Ultra Guardians watched Lunala sleep, Dawn pounded a fist into her hand. "I'm getting Zyuoh back from Necrozma," Dawn snarled, "Then Imma sic Zyuoh, Tsukune, Fangfang, Kurumu, AND Ruby on Necrozma all at once."

"Wow, Necrozma really pissed you off by merging with Zyuoh and running off with it, huh?" Trip asked, "Maybe you ought to cool off a little bit before we do anything else. Maybe you can go for a walk-"

"NALA!"

Trip was cut off when Lunala gave an energetic cry, making the others turn to see it as they saw it was surrounded with an orange glowing aura that came from the groups' Z-Rings and Z-Power Rings. After absorbing enough of that orange glow, Lunala shot up, fully revitalized, as it shattered the glass in the medical room that was around it. Lunala looked down at the Ultra guardians, and turning to look at Trip before chuckling in amusement while giving him an approving nod and a likewise smirk, before turning back to look at all of the Ultra Guardians as a whole.

The Ultra Guardians then contacted Lusamine to let her know what happened. "...I think Lunala is showing eagerness to go after Necrozma," Lusamine said, "Although I am concerned about things, I feel that you kids ought to go with Lunala to help it deal with Necrozma."

The Ultra Guardians all agreed, then they all prepared to head out on their next mission. As they got their Pokémon ready to ride out, Trip as he prepped Deelia to ride (given they were going after Necrozma, the reborn trainers were bringing as many of their big legends as they could fit) out on was met up by Lunala who, after giving an amused chuckle, gestured for Trip to ride on its back instead. Trip nodded in understanding and, after everyone was on, they all flew out from the base to go try to confront Necrozma and get Zyuoh back.

Lunala opened an Ultra Wormhole that everyone flew into, and soon the Ultra Wormhole closed behind them.

...

On the other side of the Ultra Wormhole, the heroes and Lunala arrived in a dark world. As Ash and Dawn noted the odd behaviour out of their Poipoles, the heroes were assaulted by streams of purple liquid. "Charizard, attack with Flamethrower!" Kiawe called out, making Charizard fire a Flamethrower that collided with the streams of purple liquid. When the smoke cleared, everyone saw it was several Poipoles who were attacking them.

The Poipoles resumed trying to attack, but Ash's Poipole and Dawn's Poipole explained to them in the talk of their species that the heroes meant no harm and that they are all here to help. The wild Poipoles stopped attacking and settled down. After the wild Poipoles settled down, a Naganadel came out and cried out, getting the focus of all Poipoles, including Ash's and Dawn's. However, Naganadel soon collapsed.

The heroes, with Lunala sticking close by as it had some weird interest in Trip for some odd reason, rushed to Naganadel. "It must be tired," Mallow said. Getting out some Sitrus Berries, Mallow said, "Here, eat these, they'll pep you up." Naganadel refused Mallow's offer until Ash's Poipole was able to convince it otherwise. Naganadel ate the Sitrus Berries, and it seemed to pep up a bit.

As the heroes observed this, they heard a voice call out, "Thank you."

'Who said that?" Kenny said, looking around randomly.

"It was I," the voice repeated again, and the heroes saw Naganadel wave a hand.

"...Naganadel is using telepathy to talk to us," Gladion surmised.

"You otherworlders seek to save Solgaleo, do you not?" Naganadel asked.

Nodding once, Dawn said, "Yes, me especially so."

Naganadel gently shook its head. "Solgaleo is bonded to Necrozma for now, but do not bother Necrozma. We need it to restore the light in this world."

"Hmm, explain," Kenny replied.

Naganadel nodded once, before it used its powers to show the heroes a vision of a brightly shining land. "Once, long ago," Naganadel said, "Necrozma generated light that shined down on all." The heroes saw an image of Ultra Necrozma, and Ash recognized it as the Blinding One. "Then, a meteor threatened to crash into our land," Naganadel went on, "And Necrozma stopped it, crashing into it to bring it to a halt. But it lost its light as a result." The vision then showed Necrozma reverting to its black prism form.

"When Necrozma lost its light, the light that it produced also disappeared," Naganadel said, "Necrozma went into a deep slumber, and the absence of the light generated by Necrozma's light made the plants wither and lands become desolate. My hive huddled together to make use of what little light we had left. I tried to find a new place for my hive to live, but age had begun catching up to me. A pair of very young fellows from my hive left on their own, presumably to find a new place for the hive to move to, where there would be lots of light."

The vision then showed two Poipole flying off into the distance, and Rotom Dex said, "Hey! Those are the Poipoles caught by Ash and Dawn respectively!"

The vision ended as Naganadel said, "My hive and I had given up on hope for the light to return, but then Necrozma had awoken from its slumber when Lunala wandered past it, letting it absorb some of its light to heal itself."

Ash was about to ask a question, but he got cut off when Lunala cried out in a mix of surprise and being pissed off; everyone turned to see that Lunala was being attacked by Necrozma, who was still possessing Zyuoh. Acting more out of hoping to save her named Solgaleo, Dawn send out Tsukune, Fangfang, and Ruby who can all attack from a distance. "Tsukune, use Flamethrower!" Dawn said, "Ruby, use Fusion Flare! Fangfang, use Dark Pulse! All of you hit Nercrozma!"

Lunala was pinned on the ground, and Necrozma raised a hand up to strike the pinned Lunala with Metal Claw, but suddenly it got pushed back by a Flamethrower and a Dark Pulse, right before a Fusion Flare was dropped right on top of it. Necrozma cried out, its cry a mix of Solgaleo's cry and its own, as it stumbled back. Seeing that she had Necrozma stunned, Dawn was about to call for another volley, but was cut off by Ash running up to her and getting her to stop. "Ash, what's wrong with you?" Gladion cried out when he saw what Ash was doing, "Dawn's making the right call! We can't let things here go on without interference, otherwise we're going to end up losing Lunala as well as Nebby!"

"Nebby?" Kenny said in a confused tone.

Shrugging, Gladion said, "That's Lillie's name for Solgaleo."

"Solgaleo's name is Zyuoh," Dawn corrected, "And we can figure out a way to save the homeworld of Naganadel and its Poipole hive AFTER I get my Pokémon back!"

"But we can't just beat down on it!" Ash said, "It's obviously suffering!"

The heroes turned to where Necrozma was still struggling to right itself, still reeling from the heavy assault Dawn had called down on it, and she wouldn't hesitate to call another such assault if she felt the need for it was great enough. "...I think it's hungry," Ash said, "Hungry for Ultra Aura. That's why it was going after Lunala and Solgaleo."

"So let's hit it with as many Z-Moves as we can manage," Kiawe said, "I-"

Kiawe was cut off when some buzzing came fromn the devices that the Ultra Guardians had. "Hello? Kids?" Lusamine's voice came out, "We've managed to regain contact with the remote devices! Can you hear me?"

"Yeah, mom!" Lillie cried back, "We're in the Poipole homeworld. UB Black, otherwise known as Necrozma, is here and we theorize that it's acting up because it's hungry for Ultra Aura! That's why it attacked Nebby and Lunala!"

"Dawn changed her Solgaleo's nickname to Nebby?" Lusamine asked, her tone curious and surprised.

"No, Solgaleo's nickname is still Zyuoh," Dawn replied, "Lillie just keeps insisting on using the name she came up with."

"Ah, that explains it," Lusamine replied, "Anyway, have you kids attempted to share power with Necrozma yet?"

"No," Trip replied, "We just came up with the idea and were about to give it a tr-" Trip was cut off when Dawn ordered another volley from her legendary Pokémon onto Necrozma when she saw it was trying to attack Lunala again, pushing Necrozma back even further. "...We haven't tried yet," Trip said.

"Good, because Burnet came up with a theory based on the mural at the Altar of the Sunne," Lusamine replied, "According to the mural, it wasn't just Solgaleo and Lunala who shared light with Necrozma, it was also the people and Pokémon of Alola!"

"Wait, so literally everyone has to help?" Sophocles asked, "How will we manage that?!"

"All of you, you need to pose a certain way," Lusamine said as she instructed them on how to pose, "Burnet's seeing Tapu Koko pose that way as it's sending power through the Ultra Wormhole! I'm contacting others here on my side to help send power over to where you kids are at!"

On the other side of the Ultra Wormhole, Hala, Olivia, and Nanu got the word and proceeded to help. The other guardian deities, as well as Lusamine, Wicke, Burnet, also sent power through. The Poipoles of the hive got in on it, as did many people on the other side of the Ultra Wormhole, sending more and more power to the other side of the Ultra Wormhole. "People of Earth!" Kenny called out as he and the others all sent what all power they could to Necrozma, making it back off of Lunala, "Lend Necrozma your energy!"

All of the energy coming from Alola came through the Ultra Wormhole and went to Necrozma, making it separate and reassemble itself thus freeing Zyuoh who, upon seeing Dawn's other legendaries who were out, ran to join them. Although Necrozma was unfused now, it was angry as it faced all of the opposing legendary Pokémon that were out, looking as if it were being careful and thinking of how to go about things, rather than attack outright.

As the heroes and all of the Pokémon that were out faced Necrozma, Lunala turned to look at Trip, cry out to him, then toss him a Z-Crystal which turned out to be a Lunalium Z. "...I think I know what we need to do," Trip said, "Dawn, you still have that Solganium Z?"

"Equipping it now," Dawn said, figuring she knew her brother had a reason for asking as she was already equipping the Solganium Z to her Z-Power Ring "Why do you ask, Trip?"

"We're going to hit Necrozma with the Z-Moves of Solgaleo and Lunala!" Trip said. As Trip stood by Lunala's side while Dawn stood by Zyuoh's side after it was fed a Sitrus Berry by Mallow, the two Berlitz siblings fired off the signature Z-Moves of Solgaleo and Lunala, Searing Sunraze Smash and Menacing Moonraze Maelstorm, both going on to hit Necrozma. This cause Necrozma's body to turn a brilliant shining gold as its body parts separated again and reassemble, held together by light in a form that was dragonic in appearence.

The heroes all stood in awe as Necrozma had returned to its original form.

Necrozma, in its true form, looked as if it had just realized something. It held all of its hands together, concentrated hard, then conjured up a solid sphere of self-sustaining light before flinging it up into the air, acting as a sun for the world. Necrozma was exhausted, saying something in Pokémon-talk. "Necrozma said that it had received far greater power than it ever had," Naganadel translated for the heroes with its telepathy, "Power enough to created a self-sustaining light that will last and shine light for this world indefinitely."

Looking around, the light from Necrozma's conjured sphere was shining down upon all, even revitalizing the floral life in the area. Suddenly, Necrozma's light faded and it reverted to its black prism state, but it didn't act hostile afterwards. Instead, it gave a nod of acknowledgement to the heroes before fleeing through the Ultra Wormhole, going back to Alola. "Necrozma's going back to Alola!" Lillie cried out, "What if it rampages again?!"

"...I don't think it's hostile anymore," Kenny said, "Maybe it's full now and has settled down."

"Kids," Lusamine's voice called out, "You ought to hurry! Necrozma going through the Ultra Wormhole made it last a bit longer, but you still only have a few minutes to get back!"

"Otherworlders," Naganadel said with its telepathy, "Thanks to your assistance, Necrozma restored light to our world. A light that will last for good, and without Necrozma needing to remain here to maintain it. I'm not quite sure how, maybe aid from other titans of power helped out there. Regardless, you have my gratitude, and the gratitude of my hive." The hive of Poipoles all excitedly cheered out.

Looking to his Poipole, Ash asked, "Hey Poipole, since this is your world, you wanna stay here?"

"Same to you as well, Poipole," Dawn said to her Poipole, "Do you wan-" Dawn was cut off when her Poipole immediately rushed to bury its face into her shoulder, grip her shirt and cling tightly to her. It made a moan, like an upset very young child, as it clung to Dawn in a manner that made it clear it didn't want to leave Dawn.

Ash's Poipole looked on at the display as Naganadel with its telepathy said, "The timid young one there does not wish to separate from the otherworlder who cares for it. I do not mind, the little ones of my hive will eventually need to leave when they feel ready."

Ash's Poipole turned to look at Naganadel and said something to it that only Naganadel was able to understand. "Yes, little one," Naganadel said to Ash's Poipole, "That has always been an option."

Looking up at Ash, Poipole held out a hand and said something to him that, despite only Naganadel only being able to tell what exactly was said, Ash still understood the feeling behind it. "You wanna stay with me, Poipole?" Ash asked, getting an enthusiastic affirmative response from his Poipole. After everyone recalled what all Pokémon that they had out aside from Dawn's Solgaleo, they said their goodbyes to Naganadel and its hive before leaving through the Ultra Wormhole.

...

Back in Alola, the heroes all arrived with Zyuoh and Lunala. "Huh, so both Ash's Poipole and Dawn's Poipole chose to stay," Trip said.

Looking to Dawn, Kenny said, "I know Ash doesn't nickname his Pokémon, but I know you name yours. That being said Dawn, you got a name in mind for your Poipole now that it's gonna stick around for keeps?"

Dawn took out the Poké Ball that held her Poipole, a gentle and appreciative smile on her face as the Ultra Beast that bonded to her decided to stay with her. "...Yes, I'm going to name it Wyrmscale."

Turning to look at Zyuoh and Lunala, Trip said, "Thanks for getting us back to Alola you tw-" Trip was cut off when Lunala got his attention. It said something in Pokémon talk to Trip, and he seemed to get the general idea. "...How about later tonight after we're both rested up?" Trip asked, getting an agreeing nod out of Lunala.

As Dawn recalled Zyuoh, Lillie said, "I'm still kind of worried that Necrozma is back in Alola. We ought to go find it."

"Why?" Kenny asked, "You're worried it may try to force a Fusion Dance on Zyuoh or Lunala again? Or maybe it can force the fusion by finding a pair of Potara Earrings." Gently shaking his head, Kenny said, "Either way Lillie, you ought to relax. I'm pretty certain Necrozma is abandoning its Zero Light Project."

Looking up into the sky above, seeing that light in Alola had returned, Dawn let out a breath. "...I say that we can relax now. Everything seems to be behind us." The heroes all agreed, and together they all made their way from the Altar of the Sunne on their Ride Pokémon, aside from Dawn who rode Fangfang back. Lunala remained behind, but the look on its face made it clear it was going to be waiting for something.

Later that night at the Altar of the Sunne, when the moon had risen and was bright in the clear starry night sky above, Lunala woke up when it sensed something draw near. Looking up, Lunala saw Dialga fly in before landing on the wide open space opposite of where Lunala itself waited. Trip got off of Dialga's back, stood on the ground next to his legendary dragon. "...I'm ready for our dance, Lunala," Trip said, then he pointed at Lunala while calling out, "Deelia, use Flash Cannon!"

The named Dialga charged up and fired a flash Cannon right at Lunala, striking it directly and making it reel back a little bit. It didn't look too fazed by the damage itself, but Trip saw a flushed look in Lunala's face that told him that Flash Cannon had scored the special defense drop. Lunala retaliated by conjuring up a Moonblast attack and casting it right at Deelia, scoring a direct hit. The fairy type attack would have hurt the dragon type Dialga more, but Dialga was also a steel type, and there's also the fact Lunala, despite Moonblast having good base power and Lunala having a good special attack stat, does not get STAB on using Moonblast.

Gesturing forward, Trip called out, "Deelia, use Roar of Time!" Deelia charged up its signatue move and then fired the mighty attack right at Lunala; this attack scored a lot more damage on Lunala than Flash Cannon had done, and the special defense drop on Lunala from the Flash Cannon also helped. But using Roar of Time left Deelia stunned, and it gave Lunala who wasn't quite yet defeated the time it needed to disappear in the use of Phantom Force. There was nothing Deelia could do anyway while it was stunned from using Roar of Time, so it took a fairly solid blow from Lunala's Phantom Force.

But the named Dialga was able to shake off the stun, allowing it to attack again. "Deelia, use Ice Beam!" Trip called out. Deelia charged up and fired a beam of icy cold energy, hitting Lunala in the back as it was flying back around from Deelia after hitting it with Phantom Force. Additionally, and to Trip's relief, he had scored a freeze on Lunala, as it was trapped in a hunk of ice that kept it from moving much. But it's head was free and, seeing that Trip had gotten it good, it was able to turn its head to look at Trip and give it a knowing smirk and a nod. Trip returned the gesture to Lunala with a nod and a smile.

Taking out one of the spare Master Balls that he got from the Kalos Poké Ball Factory, Trip expanded it and tossed it at the frozen Lunala while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!" The Master Ball flew at Lunala, bumpoed into it, took it inside, then fell to the ground with a light clink. It shook around for a few moments as Trip and Deelia both looked on. Then the Master Ball stopped shaking when it made a ping sound, indicating that Trip had caught Lunala. Trip let out a relieved breath as he walked over to collect the ball that held his newly caught Lunala so he could pick it up and check Lunala's bio with his Pokédex.

After seeing that Lunala was genderless, had a timid nature, and the Shadow Shield ability, Trip nodded once in understanding. "Yeah, you're going to be named Alucard," Trip said as he looked at the ball that held the now dubbed Alucard. After Trip sent the ball to Oak's lab in Pallet Town, Trip said, "I'll get to work on training Alucard later, it's too late now to do so." with an amused smirk, Trip added, "But I am looking forward to when I can first unleash Alucard on Team Scorn. I'm pretty sure that it'll be fun getting to watch Alucard... go for a walk." With his business complete, Trip got onto Deelia's back, and they took off for the hotel on Akala Island.

...

The following morning at trainer school, the classmates were all surprised to hear that Trip had caught Lunala. They even got to see it outside as Trip had rotated it into his party. "So yeah, I can unleash Alucard here on Team Scorn now," Trip said, before adding while looking up at Alucard, "How does that sound to you, Alucard? Aren't you interested in getting to say hi to some Team Scorn members?"

The named Lunala said something in Pokémon-talk, which Rotom Dex translated as, "Lunala is saying it's curious as to how good Team Scorn's healthcare plan is." Alucard then chuckled in a darkly amused manner, making Rotom Dex as well as Kiawe and Sophocles both feel a little unnerved.

After Trip recalled Alucard, the classmates were all met up by Kukui. "Hey kids, Lusamine said she just got readings telling her where Necrozma had shown up at after it came back to Alola."

"Mom found out where Necrozma is located?!" Lillie exclaimed, "Where is it?!"

Gesturing to the classmates, Kukui said, "It's in a crater near the summit of Mount Lanakila. Apparently it's just resting there, but the few people who saw it are so scared that they don't wanna go anywhere near it." Folding his arms over his chest, Kukui went on, "I think it's for the best that one of you goes to where Necrozma is located and tries to capture it. If not, then it's only a manner of time before Team Scorn gets wind of it and tries to capture it themselves. I imagine that Ayane will be eager to find a replacement for Reshiram after it was released by Interpol and Dawn later caught it."

Kukui raised a valid point; if Team Scorn caught wind of Necrozma, and Ayane goes to greet it with a Master Ball, then not only will Team Scorn's level of overall threat it can pose will go back up, but Ayane might even be able to figure out how to get Necorzma to fuse with Zyuoh or Alucard, effectively stealing a Pokémon from Dawn or Trip in the process. As such, the classmates agreed that they'll head there as soon as they could, although Kukui said that Mallow, Lana, and Lillie had to hang back as the three of them were still in trouble for recklessly confronting Ayane in the first place and putting things in greater danger.

In fact, Kukui even said that the kids could go now, saying he'll count it as extra credit if they can catch Necrozma and thus keep it from falling into the hands of Team Scorn. As such, after Dawn, Trip, and Kenny each called out enough Pokémon for everyone going to fly on, they all hopped on and took off for Mount Lanakila, flying up high as they were told their destination was located in a crater near the summit.

...

After a few minutes of flying, the heroes and their classmates were flying over the top of Mount Lanakila, looking for where Necrozma was located. It was Kenny who first spotted Necrozma sitting in a crater, and he had the others follow him to land nearby but away from Necrozma's view. "Everyone wait here," Kenny said, "Imma go in and try to make Necrozma submit to the power of cringe."

"Kenny, don't go in alone," Serena said in a worried, warning tone, "You remember what all Necrozma did before! Going in alone-"

"-And besting it in battle straight up is the way to go," Kenny said, "Rather than gang up on it with multiple trainers, or pull a sneak attack capture even IF a Master Ball is used. No, this is an honor thing." As Kenny went in, Dawn remembered what Iris got using her dragon-speaking powers when communicating with Reshiram, before Dawn went and caught it following its release from Ayane's ownership. Kenny obviously wanted to avoid a repeat of that, so he was going to treat Necrozma like what he has done for all other Pokémon he's caught.

Kenny eventually got into the clearing where the crater Necrozma was located in was at. "Necrozma!" Kenny called out loudly, "I hope you aren't planning to try and start back up your Zero Light Project again!"

The black prismatic Pokémon stirred when it heard Kenny's call, and got up as if it were waking up from a nap. It turned to face Kenny, looked to express some degree of confusion, then gave a cry as it seemed ready for battle. Tossing up a ball to send a Pokémon out to battle, Kenny said, "Okay, Black! Let's make it cringe!" The named Giratina came out into battle with a challenging roar, and it locked gazes with Necrozma before the two of them had their showdown. Necrozma tried to take the initiative by rushing in to strike with Metal Claw.

But Kenny called out, "Black, use Shadow Force!" Black then disappeared into the shadows, becoming impossible for Necrozma to hit. It looked around, wondering where its Origin Forme opponent had disappeared off to. Necrozma got its answer when Black burst in from out of nowhere and slammed hard into Necrozma, dealing a very significant hunk of damage to Necrozma and making it reel back a bit. It barely recovered in time to send a Psycho Cut flying right at Black, but Kenny called out, "Black, counter with Iron Head!" Black, its head shining like polished metal, rushed in, plowed through the Psycho Cut attack, and struck Necrozma in the gut hard.

Necrozma reeled back again, and as it was stunned, Kenny said, "Black, hit 'em with Dragon Claw!" Black's claws glowed with dragonic power as it used them to strike at Necrozma, dealing another blow that made Necrozma cry out. It was able to fight through the pain and charge up a Prismatic Laser attack, but Kenny yelled, "Black, use Shadow Force!" Black disappeared into the shadows again, just in time to avoid getting hit by Prismatic Laser. Black reappeared by slamming hard into Necrozma, which made it reel back before coming back around and falling over onto the ground, clearly exhausted.

Taking the chance to do so, Kenny took out one of the spare Master Balls he got from the Kalos Poké Ball factory, expanded it, and threw it at Necrozma while calling out, "Go, Master Ball!" The Master Ball flew at Necrozma, bumped into it, took it inside, then fell to the ground with a light clink. It then proceeded to shake around for a few moments, with Kenny's classmates having arrived on the scene and Lillie looking on out of extreme nervousness as worry, recalling what Necrozma had done while it had still been left to its own devices.

...Only now it would be left to Kenny's devices, as the Master Ball made a click sound that made it clear that Kenny had caught Necrozma. "Woot!" Kenny cheered, pumping both fists into the air, "I caught Necrozma!"

As Kenny ran over to collect the ball that held his newly caught Necrozma, Serena said, "...I'm now partly afraid of Kenny, or rather what he can do."

"...Yeah, be more afraid of what he can do rather than he himself," Dawn said as Kenny picked up Necrozma's ball, "Kenny's a good person who means well, but he can be a bit... eccentric."

After Kenny finished checking Necrozma's bio with his Pokédex, he said, "Yeah, this one here will be named Zamasu." Looking like he just realized something, Kenny remarked, "That said, it's fitting that Black helped me catch it." After the ball holding the now dubbed Zamasu was sent to Oak's lab, Kenny turned to face his peers. "Well we just prevented a potential Team Scorn wrought disaster, so I say we celebrate!" The rest of the class cheered, thus they all headed back to the trainer school. As it turned out, Lillie was, similar to Serena, now afraid of Kenny's potential.

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE

Author's notes;

This chapter wraps up the shenanigans with Necrozma, seeing the heroes go to the Poipole homeworld and ultimately help Necrozma restore light there. Dawn, after getting her Solgaleo back (it kind of had to be possessed by Necrozma for a bit, I couldn't make the chapter flow properly otherwise), was officially joined by the timid Poipole, and similarly Ash was officially joined by his Poipole. The heroes after a job well done manage to get back to Alola, although the rest of the class was surprised the next morning when Trip came in and revealed he had caught Lunala, who he is interested in sending to go for a walk against Team Scorn.

Then Kukui comes in and reveals that Necrozma, after leaving a permanent and self-sustaining light source in the Poipole homeworld before fleeing to Alola, was spotted at the top of Mount Lanakila and says who it'd be disastrous if Team Scorn were to get a hold of it, especially if Ayane catches it to replace Reshiram and Ayane is able to somehow figure out how to get Necrozma to merge with Dawn's Solgaleo or Trip's Lunala. As such, the heroes (aside from the girls that are still in trouble) go to the top of Mount Lanakila, where it's Kenny who ends up catching it.

The next chapter will be a bit of a breather as it'll see Kenny Harris Studios make its next movie, although to avoid a pair of babies throwing a temper tantrum, Kenny has to give a role in the movie to a certain someone. But it'll end up biting the aforementioned tantrum throwing babies in the fanny near the end of the Alola saga in a way that can't be anticipated. Until then, take care.
