Please note. I own none of this work and am just writing for fun. The characters belong to some lady that lives in another country.
They didn't die.
The crash was fantastic. Jack and Sam had never seen trees this large. They made short work of the Cessna's wings and the last several meters came up fast. They were dazed, but not unconscious. Sam thought that she must have really smacked her head against something because she swore that she saw a little blue creature fly up and waggle a finger at her. That wasn't possible.
"Are you hurt?" Jack asked.
"I don't think so," Sam replied. "How about you?"
Jack's knee hurt, but not much more than usual. An old Rugby injury that never went away. "Yeah, all right. We better get out of here and find help."
Sam grabbed a torch from the emergency kit at her feet and flicked it on. Light flooded the cabin as they pulled their bags out of the hold. They put them on the ground as Sam surveyed the woods with the powerful beam of light. The trees were enormous. A hundred meters high and meters in diameter. She'd never seen anything like them before and she'd watched a lot of nature programs. "Where are we?" She asked her father.
"We should be in good old Scotland, not so far from your grandmother's farm, but I agree, this is something," Jack said as he patted what seemed to be a giant elm tree. "I've never seen trees this big before."
Just then they heard a roar. It was something between an animal and a person in pain. It was terrifying.
"What was that?" Sam asked.
"I don't know," Jack said, "but I think we should go in the other direction." He thought about what kinds of animals would be in a forest in Scotland. Maybe a fox or a stray dog, but that sounded big. Big enough to be worried about. They should stay with the plane until help arrived, but that sound and the fact that none of the electronics, especially the radio, seemed to be working made him think they should set out and try to find help.
They stuffed important items in their bags and as Sam put a pair of socks in her rucksack she noticed a little jewel on the ground. It was black and smooth but not very shiny. A dull obsidian rock she figured, but thought about which jumper to take and just dropped the stone in her bag and thought no more about it.
