Chapter Two-hundred and thirty-three: Shenanigans before the Alola League Conference, part one

The reborn trainers were on their way to Kukui and Burnet's place to see how Ash was doing. "It's great that Sophocles won that Vikavolt race thing," Kenny remarked, "And that he also got a Buginium Z and a Z-Ring."

"I can't help but wonder how Ash's training is going right now," Trip remarked.

Dawn let out an annoyed scowling sigh, one that Kenny picked up on. "...You still annoyed that most of the NSFW fanart that gets submitted to the Kenny Harris Studios fansite run by that pink ninja girl is lewd fanart of your characters you've played?" Kenny asked.

"At least the girl running the fansite doesn't take any fan art or fanfics based on 'Crisis in Unova' because she says it's against her policy to take fan made content based off of 'based on true events' movies," Dawn said, "So there's no lewd fanart of the real me, just the fictional characters I've played."

Listing off of his fingers, Trip said, "A very fat school girl, a wizened old man, a wizened old socialite who died, and a very fat mom." Turning to look at his sister, Trip said, "Wow, umm... that's rough buddy."

"Let's see how Ash is doing," Dawn said, wanting a change of subject.

...

When the reborn trainers arrived, they saw that Ash was supervising Serena as she ran her Pokémon through exercises. "Ah, you're helping Serena prep for the contest scene," Dawn said, making Ash and Serena look up and see Dawn and the boys approach, also a call to stop the training was made.

"Oh, hey guys," Ash said, "Yeah, Serena's really fired up to win her next contest, especially as she needs just one more Tiki Necklace to qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival. She got really fired up after seeing Lana's Brionne evolve into Primarina during a fishing contest of some kind."

"Yeah, Lana owes me one for helping her win by making the judges think she successfully reeled in a Kyogre," Trip said dryly. Turing to look at Serena's Pokémon, Trip saw Braixen, Pangoro, Sylveon, Trevenant, Zoroark, and Clauncher all in a row, the last three being shiny. Turning to look at Serena, Trip said, "You think you can win the next contest?"

Serena, with a confident smile, clenched a fist as she said, "I'd like to see anyone beat me!"

Serena ended up losing the next Contest she entered, and to May. They faced each other in the first battle of the battle round, and it saw Serena's Braixen go down to May's Wartortle, resulting in Serena's loss via her Pokémon being straight up defeated in battle. May went on to win the final round of the battle round and thus win the Contest, thus netting her second Tiki Necklace; May faced off against Shauna and beat her by using Beautifly against Gothita. May had a knack for choosing just the right Pokémon to ensure she had a type advantage, it would seem.

The contest after that saw Serena reach the final round of the battle round, only to lose to May there when Serena's Sylveon and May's Glaceon stalemated, running out the five minute time limit as a result. A close examination revealed that May had three points more left when time was called then what Serena had, and as a result May got her third Tiki Necklace, putting her at a count equal to what Serena had. Shauna was still doing well but not well enough to earn Tiki Necklaces; Serena managed to eliminate Shauna in the first part of the battle round, after her Zoroark earned a hard-fought win over Shauna's Venusaur.

Then for the contest after THAT, Serena made it to the last round of the battle round again against May, only to lose to her there as well; it was Serena's Pangoro versus May's Blaziken, and May won by actually reducing Serena's points to zero before time was called; neither Pangoro or Blaziken went down in battle during their fated duel. This win resulted in May getting her fourth and final Tiki Necklace, making her the first to qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival. Not helping Serena's case was how Clemont's little sister Bonnie was running around excitedly screaming how Max's big sister just qualified for the Alola Contest Grand Festival, prompting Kenny to catch her and tell her off. Clemont thanks Kenny for catching Bonnie so that he could tell her off himself for rubbing salt in Serena's proverbial wound.

...

"Wow, you lost to May three times in a row," Lana said to Serena, "And May became the first Coordinator to qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival."

"Don't remind me," Serena scowled.

Holding up a Z-Ring she had, Mallow said, "I at least cleared a trial set up for me by Oranguru and got a Grassium Z. Also this Z-Ring which Olivia cleaned up and repaired for me."

"Mallow, Serena got blocked multiple times by May in the Contest scene," Kenny said, "Bragging about your success while Serena's still reeling from the sting of multiple failures ain't gonna help her."

Serena looked like she was about to flip, but got cut off when the Ultra Guardian's bell was rung, prompting the heroes to all go down to the Ultra Guardian's base under their classroom. When they got to the base, Lusamine was already on the big monitor screen. "What's the sitch, Zordon?" Kenny asked.

"We just picked up word of a new Ultra Beast," Lusamine explained to the Ultra Guardians, "A small one we've dubbed Kartana. It's cutting is so sharp, it can even slice clean through thick golden statutes, like the one in this video Imma play for you kids now." Lusamine then showed the Ultra Guardians a video of Viren's gold statue of himself standing in an area, only for Kartana to fly in, slice the head off, slice the rest of the statue into hunks, and place the Viren statue head against the Viren statue butt so that the nose was in the crack before flying away.

"What's interesting is that we've failed to locate signs of an Ultra Wormhole opening," Lusamine said, "We are trying to find it though. Ultra Guardians, you must locate Kartana and capture it no matter what."

As the still multiplying horde of Meltans in the base brought the Ultra Guardians the supplies they'll be needing, Dawn said, "...I have an idea... that just might work." Tapping the side of her fist into her palm, Dawn said, "Kartana seems to have a need to slice things up, right? I propose that we set some bait."

...

The plan Dawn had in mind was an apparent watermelon slicing contest on the beach, the goal being who can best cut a watermelon in half with a sword. Kenny was able to procure several katanas, and when asked about it he said the pink ninja girl who runs the Kenny Harris Studios fansite lend them to him. Dawn then began loudly calling out that the watermelon slicing contest was about to get going, and that anyone who thought they'd be the best at slicing a watermelon clean in two was invited to step up and give it a try.

Just as Kiawe boldly stepped up to be the first to try slicing clean through a watermelon, a loud cry sounded out, and in flew Kartana. "Oh, you wanna enter the watermelon slicing contest?" Dawn asked, drawing a nod from Kartana. "Okay, you need to sign here," Dawn replied, handing a pen to Kartana before holding out a clipboard with a sheet of paper on it for Kartana to sign. Dawn actually expected Kartana to just slice the clipboard and pen, but surprisingly enough it actually tried to grab the pen with both hands and scribble on the paper.

"Okay, the new comer is first," Dawn said as Trip and Kenny carried a particularly big watermelon and set it on the table on the stage. Gesturing to the watermelon, Dawn said to Kartana, "Knock yourself out." Kartana flew over and, in one swift motion, sliced the watermelon clean in two from side to side rather than top to bottom. Kartana then decided to show off and slice that watermelon up some more, but in all honesty Dawn only needed Kartana to slice through the watermelon once in order for her plan to work.

The watermelon presented to Kartana to slice up was actualy hollowed out and filled with a glue-like putty substance and, getting it caught on itself stuck Kartana and blotted its cutting edges with goo that kept its edge dull and safe. The extra slicing just got more of the putty on Kartana, rendering it essentially immobile. At it laid on the stage floor helpless, Serena tossed a Beast Ball at it and caught it. Clapping her hands together, Dawn said, "Huh, well that was incredibly easy. I say that we go on and report this success to-"

"There's a comet headed straight for us!" Mallow exclaimed, cutting Dawn off and making her and everyone else turn and see a comet heading right for them. "It looks big enough to wipe out everything within a one mile radius of where we're at!" Mallow screamed, "We done fo-"

"Okay, Shenron!" Kenny said as he called out his named Rayquaza, "Let's make it cringe!" After the named Rayquaza came out, Kenny held up and used his Mega Ring as he said, "Come forth eternal dragon Shenron, and grant my wish!" This spoken phrase triggered Shenron's Mega Evolution into Mega Rayquaza, and when the eternal dragon's transformation was complete, Kenny pointed at the comet and said, "Shenron, bust through that comet with Dragon Ascent!"

Shenron, glowing with green energy, rushed for the comet, becoming a straight arrow as it picked up more and more speed, more and more force. The heroes and their classmates on the beach watched as the named Rayquaza got ever closer to the comet, their breaths held in anticipation of what was going to be an epic show of the vast power welling within the Mega Evolved named Rayquaza.

Then, with a bursting pierce, Shenron bore through the comet, coming out the other side as the comet shattered into chunks in the sky and fell down onto the beach, with Dawn having Lincoln use Psychic to catch big chunks to slow their fall so they wouldn't hit anyone. The chaos had passed, and Kenny had saved the day with Dawn as his backup. Also all of the meteor chunks were saved, so that was cool. "Ah ha ha!" Kenny proclaimed, "I have just destroyed a comet to save the world!" Striking a pose, Kenny declared, "The world is my fri-"

"COHUHHOHHEHH!"

Kenny was cut off by an alien cry that sounded from nowhere, right before Shenron was shoved down from the sky and slammed into the sandy shore of the beach before picking itself back up and looking in the direction of where it was slammed from. Everyone on the beach turned up to look, and when they did, they were all very much surprised to see the mythical Pokémon Deoxys floating in the air right there, currently in its normal form.

"What in the name of all that is good is that thing?!" Lillie exclaimed in a panic as she pointed at Deoxys.

"Shenron, ram into it with Iron Head!" Kenny declared, "Then slam it into the ground while using Earthquake!" The named Mega Evolved Rayquaza, having regained its bearings, flew up and rammed into Deoxys with its head shining like polished metal, then dragged it down to the ground while it was rammed onto its head and used Earthquake while keeping it pinned. The ground shook with mighty seismic waves as the heroes and their classmates even stumbled a bit due to how fierce the battle between alien and dragon was going.

When the dust settled and Shenron got back up, everyone saw that Deoxys had shifted to its Defense Form, explaining why it hadn't gone down yet despite taking two heavy hits from a powerful Mega Evolved Pokémon. Deoxys then tried retaliating with a powerful Psychic attack, but Shenron was able to tank it quite well; due to how it had taken on a defensive form to endure a savage onslaught, Deoxys sacrificed a good chunk of its offensive power, meaning that against other Pokémon of note such as Rayquaza, its attacks won't do all that much.

But at the same time, other attacks won't do all that much to Deoxys in return. Wanting to speed up the process, Trip tossed up a Master Ball while calling out, "Alright, Alucard! Let's rock it!" Coming out to assist Shenron in taking down the defensive Deoxys was Alucard, Trip's named Lunala. "Use Moongeist Beam on Deoxys!" Trip called out, prompting Alucard to conjure and cast a powerful Moongeist Beam that struck Deoxys square in the back, dealing a lot of damage. Defensive it may be right now, Deoxys is STILL vulnerable to ghost attacks like Moongeist Beam. And it still took damage from Shenron's assault.

Turning around, Deoxys blasted the named Lunala with Psychic, only for it to do very little if at all. Deoxys was then struck on its left side by a Dragon Claw from Shenron, then it took a Moongeist Beam right to its front from Alucard. Even with its defensive form giving it bulk, Deoxys wasn't going to last all that long in this fight. Indeed, Deoxys soon ended up going down, collapsing onto the sandy shore of the beach where it laid defeated. "Woot!" Kenny cheered as he struck his pose again, "We defeated Deoxys! We have once again proven that the world is my fri-"

"Shadow!"

Kenny was cut off when he and everyone else heard a cry sound out. Then, they all saw it as a Marshadow came out from the bushes nearby, went up to Kenny, and jumped up while pumping a fist into the air, clearly cheering. As Marshadow jumped and cheered in front of Kenny, Rotom Dex said, "Oh! That guy! I remember seeing this one a while ago! I tried recording data on it, but it was just too fast for me to get a picture of!"

Kenny, looking from Marshadow to Deoxys and then back to Marshadow, said to Marshadow, "Were you inspired by the heroic moxie that I had shown?" As Marshadow cheered in confirmation, Kenny went on, "Well you do seem like one who works well with the powers of moxie and cringe. What say you to joining the cringe posse and coming along with me to continue defending the world who is our friend?"

Marshadow cheered happily in agreement as it jumped up and down again. Kenny then took out and used an Ultra Ball to successfully capture the wild Marshadow. "I... I have no idea what Pokémon that is, Kenny," Lana said, "But it does seem friendly."

Holding a hand to his chin, Trip said, "I think I saw it in a book somewhere once. I believe its species is called Marshadow."

"Well this Marshadow here shall be named Moximous N," Kenny declared, "For the world is our friend!"

Gesturing to the still defeated Deoxys laying on the beach, Dawn said, "What about this one?"

Shrugging, Trip said, "I put in effort to take it down, so I'll catch it." Trip then took out and used an Ultra Ball to successfully catch the Deoxys. After checking its bio with his Pokédex, Trip said, "Heh, I'll name it Bakura." Although things got a bit unexpectedly messy after Kartana was caught, Kartana was STILL caught. As were both a Marshadow and a Deoxys. Regardless, everything was reported to Lusamine, Wicke, and Burnet, and an Ultra Wormhole was opened up to release Kartana into so that it could go back to its homeworld. The day was saved, and that's all the heroes could have asked for.

Sometime later, the reborn trainers went over to see Ash at Kukui's and Burnet's place, wanting to check up on how he's coming along with his training. "So what's this about Ash getting his own Firium Z from a Totem Trevenant during what he claims are time travel shenanigans?" Trip asked.

"Keep in mind, Trip," Kenny said, "That you and I plus Dawn have had our own shenanigans while time traveling. Or have you forgotten our time in Hisui?"

Letting out a mildly troubled sigh, Dawn said, "I'm just still worried about Lana. You guys do remember how she collapsed in class yesterday, right?"

"Oh shit, I forgot about that," Kenny said, "Well she's doing better now, right?"

Nodding once, Dawn said, "Yes, she just collapsed from hunger is all. I later got it that she need some mild treatment at the hospital, but nothing too serious. She's just a really thin girl who needs to eat more."

Trip, wearing a firm look of suspicion on his face, folded his arms over his chest. "...Lana had always been adamant about not wearing the fat suit that Kenny got for use in the Kenny Harris Studios movies. Maybe this and that are connected somehow?"

Dawn, upon hearing what Trip said, similarly became suspicious. "...We'll keep that in mind as we go about helping out with what all Ash is doing right now."

...

When the heroes found Ash training, they were surprised to see that his Charjabug was now a Vikavolt and his Torracat was now an Inciniroar; Ash's Torracat evolving into Inciniroar had happened much earlier here than it did in the anime in Dawn's previous life. "Hey Ash, how's the training going?" Dawn called out, getting Ash to look over and see Dawn and the boys approach.

"Well I got back from where Sophocles evolved his Charjabug into Vikavolt because I trained there to evolve my own Charjabug into Vikavolt," Ash explained, "And my Torracat evolved into Inciniroar." Ash then turned to look at his Dartrix, who looked like it had a load it wanted to release but it couldn't. "Dartix still looks like it wants to release something but it can't."

Gesturing to himself and the other reborn trainers, Kenny said, "Mayhaps the lot of us can help you out."

"I would appreciate that, yeah," Ash replied, and after both Dawn and Trip agreed as well, the four of them got to working on trying to help Ash's Dartrix release the force within that it wanted to let out but couldn't for some odd reason. The four of them spent all day training, and despite making lots of progress, even seeing Kenny and Trip work on training Moximous N and Bakura, the overall true goal of helping Ash's Dartrix wasn't accomplished.

The four of them decided to camp out on the beach for the night, figuring that they could get to training Dartrix in the morning. While camping out, Ash saw that Trip got his Dialga out. "You're planning to use Dialga in the Alola League Conference, huh?" Ash asked.

"Only if I face off against Kenny," Trip replied, "I know Dawn ain't entering because she's already the Sinnoh Champ and she wants to keep it, so competing to try to earn the Alola Champ title would be redundant for her. So it's only Kenny I'm worried about."

"What about Ideku?" Kenny asked, "I mean, he's got Zekrom and Enamorus."

Shrugging, Trip said, "Alright, it's you and Ideku that will warrant busting out the big guns. Using them against any other trainer would leave a bad taste in my mouth as it has a lack of a sense of fair play."

Ash smiled appreciatively. "It's nice you aren't planning to run roughshod over everyone. I have to respect your wanting to maintain a sense of fair play, Trip."

Trip nodded once in acknowledgement before turning to look at Ash's Dartrix. It still looked like it had a load of power welling within it but it couldn't let it out, but it was getting sleepy. "I hope we can figure out what's wrong with Dartrix in the morning," Trip said, "Or failing that, we take it to a Pokémon Center to see if Nurse Joy can do something to help it."

"Yeah, that may end up being what we'll have to do," Ash remarked as he and the reborn trainers all settled down for their camp out on the beach for the night. All of the Pokémon that were there, aside from Trip's named Dialga Deelia and Ash's Pikachu, were all recalled as the humans, Deelia, and Pikachu all settled down to sleep for the night. The last to close their eyes was Deelia who, seeing that everyone had fallen asleep, laid out and rested as well. The lines on the name Dialga's body glowed with power as Deelia thought of times long past.

...

When the reborn trainers and Ash woke up, they found themselves in a flowery field that Dawn, Kenny, and Trip recognized right away. "Guys," Ash began, his tone clear with worry, "Where are we?"

"...This has happened before," Kenny said. The heroes then checked their on hand parties; Ash saw that he only had Pikachu and Dartrix with him, Dawn only had Chi-Chi, Leni, and Germany with her, Trip only had Myde, Gypsy Danger, and Fourze, and Kenny only had Roshi with him. "Yeah, some of our on hand party members are missing, but they'll return when we complete our time here," Kenny said.

Looking to Kenny, Ash said, "This... this happened to you guys before?"

"Yeah, this is our second time having been sent to the Hisui period of Sinnoh's past," Trip said, "I think Deelia may be playing some role here. But I digress. We ought to get going to-"

"Oh, it's you guys again, and you have a friend," a familiar female voice said, "But you guys don't look to have aged a day." The heroes turned to look and saw it as Lilimon Sengoku, who the reborn trainers met the last time they time-warped to Hisui, came walking up to them. She seemed ever so slightly older than she did when the reborn trainers last came to Hisui; Dawn estimated that Lilimon is now half a decade older.

Dawn could tell from Lilimon's ever so slightly older appearance that she and the boys may have missed a few things since the last time they had visited Hisui. "What all did we miss?"

Lilimon gently shook her head, let out a bemused chuckle. "Revolution."

...

The heroes were led by Lilimon over to Jubilife Village, where right away Dawn, Kenny, and Trip noticed it was somewhat more developed overall than it was the last time that they had visited. There were at least fifty percent more residential buildings, and at least three new shops. There was also more people, and not everyone was wearing clothing in the style of old Hisui. "It has been five years since I had last seen you three," Lilimon said to Dawn, Kenny, and Trip as they and Ash all walked to the large building that still stood proudly at a lead spot in Jubilife Village, "And you came back with a friend. You three had missed quite a lot."

"Yeah, you said something about revolution," Trip said.

Lilimon let out a resigned sigh. "...When you were last here, you assisted in the construction of the wall around a Diamond Clan settlement to help protect the residents there from invading wild Pokémon."

"Didn't that Adaman guy or whatever his name was say that some guy named Kamado might get uppity over it?" Kenny asked.

Nodding once in the affirmative, Lilimon replied, "Yes, and Kamado 'got uppity' as you put it pretty much right after he first heard that a Diamond Clan settlement set up that wall. He automatically assumed that the Diamond Clan was gearing up for war to take over Hisui, so he sent as many men from Jubilife Village here as possible to take down the wall and besiege the settlement. Over half of the residents of that settlement were slain in the siege. Kamado's forces had more or less subjugated the Diamond Clan, with Kamado himself declaring that in Hisui, his word is law, and that those who would do anything that he views as even a remote challenge to his power and authority will be wiped to a man."

"So... he went full dictator is what you're saying," Dawn said, drawing an affirmative nod out of Lilimon.

Looking around, Kenny scowled and said, "And I bet this recent development was only possible because Kamado declared that in Hisui only his way can be followed, he won't allow anyone to take the highway."

Gently shaking her head, Lilimon said, "Actually, shortly after the besieging of the Diamond Clan settlement and the subjugation of the Diamond Clan by Kamado's forces, I rallied a large enough force to besiege Jubilife Village here and take it over. The rest of what remained of the Diamond Clan, all of the Pearl clan, a trio of bandit sisters who I was able to befriend, and many others who had long since grown weary of living in a Hisui ruled by Kamado's iron fisted paranoia. I had even personally killed Kamado, although I acted there more to avenge my first partner I've ever known in Hisui."

Ash looked surprised at what Lilimon said. "Your... your first partner?"

"An Oshawott given to me by a professor living in Jubilife Village," Lilimon explained, "She was a Samurott at the time she was staked by spears by men acting on Kamado's orders, but then again that happened because Samurott attacked Kamado solely because Kamado struck me across the face with a backhanded slap solely due to his paranoia driving him into thinking I was trying to destroy the village. The Samurott that you three-" Lilimon paused to gesture to Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, "-saw me with the last time you were here is a different one from my original partner, as that Samurott you saw me with is a male alpha."

Looking around at the now more developed Jubilife Village, Dawn said, "...I'm guessing Kamado's paranoia was partly keeping things from developing more in Hisui."

"His paranoia led him to believe that such progress and development was a threat to his power and authority that he loved oh so much to brag about having," Lilimon remarked, "Hell, he took actions multiple time to undo progress and development in Hisui. He claimed that his actions prevented further harm to Hisui and its people, but in reality he acted solely to hold onto as much of his greedily held power and authority as possible."

Gesturing to Lilimon, Trip asked, "So how did you kill Kamado? A fierce battle with weapons? Or maybe you overwhelmed him with Pokémon that you-"

"Actually," Lilimon interrupted, "I poisoned some tea he drank without anyone knowing. I let the poison work its magic, and he dropped dead before the siege to liberate Jubilife Village from his authority, a siege that ended up liberating Hisui as a whole." Holding a hand to her chin, Lilimon went on, "But I heard that Kamado had some family, so they may be looking for revenge..."

"That..." Ash began, looking a bit unsure of things, "...That sounds a bit on the brutal side of things..."

"That's life in Hisui for you," Lilimon replied dryly, "Although now that society as a whole in Hisui can progress more, I hope that the violence can be done away with so that the land can be settled." Clapping her hands together, Lilimon said, "Now, perhaps there's something of a more pleasant nature that we can discuss?"

Pointing to Ash, Kenny said, "Our bud here has a Dartrix that's having trouble releasing something. It acts like its got a great force brewing within but it's having trouble letting it out. We confirmed it's not constipation or anything, so we're stumped."

Gesturing for the heroes to follow her, Lilimon said, "Follow me to the training grounds. Perhaps we can see what's up with Dartrix there."

...

Over at the training grounds near the big building in Jubilife Village, the reborn trainers stood off to the side as Ash faced Lilimon in a simple sparring match battle. At Lilimon's prompting, Ash sent out his Dartrix. Tossing up a ball herself, Lilimon said, "Go, Decidueye!" Coming out of the ball was a Hisuian Decidueye, which towered much more than what the heroes expected. "Yes," Lilimon said when the size of her Decidueye was commented on, "My Decidueye here, much the same as my second Samurott, is an alpha. As for why I selected Decidueye to spar with Dartrix, well Dartrix evolves into Decidueye. I figured that connection would help with the process of helping Dartrix here."

Ash looked to his Dartrix who, in addition to seeming excited to spar with Lilimon's Decidueye, seemed like it felt it could finally unleash the load of welling power within that it wanted to let out. At Ash's prompting, Dartrix rushed in to strike at Decidueye, but the alpha blocked Dartrix's strike with one of its own. Decidueye threw Dartrix back with a pushing kick, but Dartrix just landed on its feet after a backflip. It was clear Decidueye wasn't trying to straight up beat Dartix in a fight; this WAS a simple sparring match, after all.

"Your Dartrix is keen," Lilimon said, "A diligent and serious combatant. And I saw how it looked prior to the sparring, like it had a force within it wants to let out but couldn't. Now it seems like it's able to let out that force, and it will come out all at once in an explosive burst."

"Well let's keep going and see what will happen," Ash remarked. The two Pokémon, Dartrix and Decidueye, continued their spar, throwing out and parrying strike after strike. It was clear that Decidueye could overwhelm Dartrix whenever, but it chose not to and instead stuck with keeping level with Dartrix; it wouldn't help Dartrix if it was overwhelmed and beaten before it could unleash the welling force within. After a few minutes of sparring, the two Pokémon landed away from one another, both panting a bit out of tiredness from the spar.

Lilimon nodded once in knowing approval. "...Yes. I'd say that Dartrix is ready."

A curious look appeared on Ash's face. "Ready? Ready for wha-"

"TRIX!" Ash's Dartrix cried out, a cry that signified that the welling force within was at last being let out in an explosive burst. Suddenly, Ash's Dartrix began glowing with a bright white light, its entire form glowing. The form of Dartrix as it glowed shifted in size, grew in height. After the growing and shifting was finished, the glowing had faded to reveal to everyone that Ash's Dartrix had evolved into Decidueye.

...A Hisuian Decidueye.

"Well hot dang!" Kenny cheered, "Ash's Dartrix evolved into Decidueye!"

Trip, with a look of consideration on his face, held a hand to his chin. "Yeah, and it's the variety found in Hisui no less." Dawn had a sinking suspicion that Ash's Decidueye, when it was still a Dartrix, was wanting to unleash the power welling within because said power would let it evolve. But it wasn't able to unleash said welling power until it came here to Hisui. Maybe Ash's Dartrix was somehow destined to evolve into the Hisuian form of Decidueye, and it needed to come here to Hisui in order to release the force?

Questions to ponder later.

...

The heroes left Jubilife Village to go camping out in the wild, and found a secluded spot. They settled down for the night and fell asleep, and when they woke up they were back on the beach in Alola in present day, as if their time in Hisui was just a dream they had overnight. Checklng their respective on hand teams, Ash, Dawn, Trip, and Kenny all saw that all of their missing Pokémon had come back. "...Well that was interesting," Dawn remarked.

"Boy, I'll say," Ash said, "But it gave me an idea on how to work on Dartrix's training!" Getting excited, Ash took the Pokéball that held Dartrix and tossed it up, eager to get started on Dartrix's training. However, when the Pokémon came out, Ash saw that his Dartrix was now a Decidueye, and the variety he saw in Hisui no less. Ash, the look on his face being one of surprise, said, "Umm... huh. Well that happened."

END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREE

Author's notes;

This chapter sees some Alola Contest business skimmed over to give Serena a bit of a rough time before things pick up; I kind of neglected to cover the contests better, and it was always my intention to have May qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival before Serena. But not to worry, Serena will have a shot at getting payback on May for the many losses dealt to her in a row.

But aside from that, the heroes also have to deal with Kartana, which they're actually able to catch here, although due to Kartana being caught, the heroes had to deal with a comet on their own, and that led to Deoxys showing up and being caught. Marshadow who I had also meant to cover in the episode it showed up in shows up here and is also caught, giving the heroes even more that they can field against Team Scorn.

Then we get to the issues with Ash's Dartrix, which end up being solved during a campout where, while Ash and the reborn trainers are asleep, they time-warp to Hisui, meet up with Lilimon who reveals what happened since the heroes were last in Hisui, and spar with Ash which led to his Dartrix evolving into Hisuian Decidueye, which stuck for good as the heroes found out when they awaken back in modern Alola.

Anyway, the next chapter will cover more pre-Alola League shenanigans, including another Contest for Serena to take part in so that she can try to qualify for the Alola Contest Grand Festival, as well as cover the bit about Lana collapsing in class that was skimmed over. Until then, take care.
